Standing at the top of the hill, Arik was practicing with his quarter staff, twirling it about in between various strikes and parries. With a final twirling spin, he flipped the staff back into a walking stick position and bowed to a few girls that were watching his small performance. He was getting to be pretty popular among the female chemists and priests in his small group, though he had never really considered a serious relationship with any of them. The other males in the group seemed to be a bit jealous of him, however, and Arik found that slightly amusing. "Thank you, thank you," he said as the bit of clapping died away. "Shows are every hour, on the hour," he said with a wink, causing a few small laughs as the group dispersed. "Quite the ladies man, huh?" came a voice behind him.... A familiar voice. "Hmm, wishing you were in my group?" he asked teasingly. He turned around to face Rydia and winked with a grin. Rydia laughed at the sly grin. "I can see why they like you; you're quite the charmer." "Well, I try," he said with a mock sigh. "But the pretty ones always turn me down on dates." Another wink. "Oh great, now you're flirting with me. Stop that." Arik's face immidiately went blank, and he spoke in a monotone. "Okay, I will stop. Please forgive me; it will not happen again." Rydia did her best to keep a straight face, but couldn't quite manage it. In between small giggles, she said, "Right, and I'll hold you to that, so you'd better not." "Right, no flirting," he spoke in his normal tone as he nodded, and then abruptly turned and walked away, leaving Rydia to ponder her encounter with the priest. Arik could be an odd one at times. It wasn't really that he was girl-crazy, but more that he was quite the charmer, and he knew it. As far as he could tell, Arik had never actually been in love. Sure, he had had a few fancies during his travels before joining the Battalion, but just as now, nothing at all serious. Looking around, Arik watched the various activity going on about the caravan. It appeared that they were about to depart once more, so he gathered his stuff and headed up towards the head of the caravan.

All three of the Team Chaotix members are from Knuckles Chaotix, which was released for the Sega 32x in '95. Well, I might like to get this game, but as with so many others I probably won't because of lack of money. I like the 2D Sonic games, or at least the few I've played on the Genesis and Game Gear, quite a bit, but I really didn't like SA2B when I borrowed it from a friend. Not only are the Tails/Eggman and Knuckles/Rouge levels quite boring for the most part, but I found the control in the Sonic/Shadow levels to be really bad. And the camera was bad throughout the whole thing. So my biggest hope for Sonic Heroes is that they improve the controls and camera. I'm sorry, but you shouldn't need a homing attack to be able to jump into enemies. I mean, it's fine if they want to include it, but you shouldn't need it because the controls and camera are really bad. That's just a sloppy kluge, in my opinion.

Um...they're keeping the cel shaded graphics, not changing them. Like I said, it's going to use the same graphics and game engine as TWW, and probably a lot of the same character models. Just like what they did with MM. If they were changing the graphical style, it would definitely take them a lot longer since, just like with TWW which took almost three years, they'd have to do all-new graphics.

Okay, okay, I'm back. I'll get us inside the temple, but I'm not sure where you want to go with it so I won't go much farther. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cecil was about to try and slap some sense back into Zell when he came to. "Okay, follow me down, then, and we'll try and open the door together." And with a look at Zell's fist, added, "And don't punch either of us." Diving down beneath the surface, Cecil dragged Auron along with one hand and tugged at the temple door with the other, along with Zell. There was a large metal bar resting across the door, which had rusted over time and become practically one piece with the door. Giving up trying to pull the bar away, Cecil thought quickly. An idea came to mind, and he waved to get Zell's attention before pointing at the bar. Zell gave him a blank stare, with Cecil frantically gesturing at the bar. He tried punching motions and finally Zell caught on, punching the bar and turning the bar to stone, shattering it. Cecil and Zell broke the surface inside the temple, gasping for air. Cecil laid Auron out on the stone floor; he wasn't breathing. "Quick, heal him!" Zell shouted once he took a few deep breaths. "I can't make him start breathing again, that's not--" Cecil suddenly stopped in mid-sentence. "What? What is it!?" Cecil blinked, a dead serious look on his face. "He needs CPR." Zell almost fainted again. "You want me to do it?!" "He'll die if we don't do something fast! And besides, you've had some experience with this sort of thing." "You can't be serious! Are you talking about Sephiroth?!" At a nod from Cecil, Zell continued. "But you're the one that came out of the airship with him!" "You've got to be kidding me! That wasn't even real!" "I don't care! If I've already done it, that means it's your turn!" "You'd just let him die?" Zell remained silent at this, staring steadily back at Cecil. "Damnit, there isn't time for this!" Cecil yelled, and took the plunge. ... A voice from out of the darkness: "I think he's coming around!" It sounded like...he couldn't quite tell, but it sounded familiar. A sound of rushing air...thumping...and pain! Auron jolted back into consciousness, sitting bolt upright. The first thing he saw was Cecil sprawled on his back next to him, eyes wide from being knocked over suddenly. "What's going on?" he wheezed, and then winced from the pain in his chest. "He's alive, he's alive!" It was the voice again, only now he could tell it belonged to Zell. "Of course I'm--" He coughed hard, and some blood came out into his hand. "Don't try and talk yet!" Cecil sat up quickly, pushing Auron gently back down into a prone position. "Cure! Cure! ... The CPR ended up cracking a few of your ribs." As Cecil cast the spells, Auron felt the pain in his chest subside and he was able to breathe freely again. Finally he managed to say, "CPR?" Cecil nodded. "You almost drowned; it was the only way." Sitting up again, he glanced at Cecil, then Zell, and back at Cecil again. "Please don't tell me--" "No I did not!" Zell almost screamed. Auron glanced at Zell again, the blonde looking a bit sheepish, and then to Cecil once again. "So--" "That's right, Cecil--" "Don't say it!" Auron blinked at the two as they stood up, pulling him up with them. "Did I miss something?" "Well, yeah, you were out for--" "Zell, be quite. And just forget about this, we have more important things to be doing." Cecil gestured down the dark hall in front of them. "Hmph," Zell said, looking annoyed. "That's my line." Cecil's serious face broke into a grin. "Wow, a real, actual, good joke." Zell's face also changed into a grin. "I guess CPR changed him, eh Ce--" Both Cecil and Auron turned to Zell with a glare, speaking as one. "Be quiet, Zell!" "Oh, fine..." Zell muttered to himself as they started off into the temple.

Do you mean the puzzle where you have to push the cube along the floor so that it ends up on the switch with the correct side facing up? Answer: Right, right, up, left, down, left, left, left, left, left, left. Question: In an unlinked Oracle of Ages game, where do you get the Iron Shield?

Yeah, there was already a thread on this before, but I can just merge them. *does so, and changes the original title to make it more clear* :) And yeah, I've been hearing that both the TWW sequel and Metroid Prime 2 will be coming out next year. Still, I don't know about the shortest time in between Zelda games. There was only 15 months in between the first two games, so if the TWW sequal isn't released in June 2004 or before, it won't be the shortest. Also, I'm confident that they can turn out a good game. After all, it's going to be using the same graphics and game engine as TWW, same as MM did with OOT. And MM only came out 23 months after OOT, and I don't know that they started on it right after they finished OOT. With the TWW sequel, they started work on it pretty much right after TWW was completed. Just so as long as they can come up with another good storyline and dungeons that are as good as the ones in TWW, I'll be happy. And more dungeons would also be nice, but not too necessary if it has as much sidequest stuff as TWW did. ^_^

Well, I was looking for the characters along with the classes (specifically, which characters have which classes), but I guess that's fine. If you know the classes, I suppose you'd probably also know the characters and which classes they'd have. Unless you just looked the classes up on the net, that is. ;)

Hmm, I was thinking last night, and I figured out you have to at least get the Pendant of Courage. Without it you can't get the Pegasus Shoes from Sahasrahla, which you need to get the Book of Mudora, which you need for a few different necessary bits in the game. So you can only skip the second two Pendants, I guess. (The Pendant of Power and Pendant of Wisdom, as far as I know, can be skipped using the Dark World Drop trick. I haven't thought of any reason why you actually need them if you're not going to get the Master Sword). You do, however, have to get all of the Crystals from the Dark World dungeons. There's no way around that, since you can't get into Level 8: Ganon's Tower without all seven Crystals. So there's not much point in skipping those, unless you just want to come back later when you've gotten almost everything and completely trash the bosses, heh. (Though really, I can already do that with the normal amount of stuff). ^_^ New Post Edit: Right, I finished A Link to the Past again while I was gone this past week, and I can confirm that it is possible to beat the game without getting the Master Sword. In fact, if you go back and get the Master Sword after getting the Lv.3 or Lv.4 sword, it actually lowers your sword level back down to Lv.2. So here's the updated list, heheh: You know you play too much Zelda: A Link to the Past when... ...you beat the game without fighting Agahnim in Hyrule Castle because, "He's not worth my time." ...you beat the game without getting the Master Sword because, "I don't need it." ...you beat the game without using any potions or bottled fairies because, "I'm just that cool." And if you're wondering, I did that third one on the same file as the second one. And no, I didn't ever reset, either. I actually ended up beating Ganon with only one Heart left, heh.

No problem; I can just change the title to cover OOS and OOA help. Easier that way, instead of having two threads. :) Anyway, to get to the keyhole in OOS, go west from where you first find Moosh until you get to a Blast Bloom. (The flowers that, in Spring, shoot you up cliffs). Use it to reach the ledge above, and then walk back to the east until you come to a tree stump in front of a waterfall. Change the season to Winter, and walk back to the west again. The snow drift will let you get up into the high cave in the cliffside, which will take you to the top of that mountain peak. There you'll find another Blue Cucco, which will take you across the gap to the east to another peak. You'll find the keyhole in a rock on that peak. As for getting to the fourth dungeon in OOA, it's actually right in Symmetry Village. Once you restore the Tuni Nut and place it back on the alter in the central building of the city, the lava coming out of the valcano, north of the building, will stop flowing and a cave will be revealed. Inside is Level 4. If you need help on getting the Tuni Nut restored, I can help with that too.

Lol, stupid indeed. There is absolutely no logical reason that I can think of as to why you'd shatter, when you're solid stone, just because you're underwater. Still, I wouldn't have said it quite like Cecil did. (As you've already found out, from my previous rantings on that subject, heh). But argh, I have the worst luck. Unless you two (three if Mei posts) can drag this temple out until Sunday, I won't be here for the results of the final challenge and all that. My parents are making me go on a camping trip with them from the 4th to the 9th, and I'll likely be too tired to post anything until the 10th (Sunday, a week from now). So goodbye, and good luck to both of you with this last challenge. And if by some fluke I don't win (;)), please don't vote me off just because I'm having to leave for a bit. I've been putting a lot of effort into this thing, and if it were up to me I wouldn't even be going on this trip.

Geeze, a bit picky, aren't we? Sorry if I'm going off of the original game, but I don't know the new names except for changing the Black Belt to the Monk. :cross: Maybe for my question (whenever I get to ask it, if you won't accept my answer) I should only accept the class names from the SNES FFII and not the PSX FFIV, since that's what I've played, and only with the correct abbreviations. :p

For me, my favorite FF character is definitely Cecil from FFIV. Again, like Ginny, I can identify with him more than most other characters, which makes me like him a lot more than I would otherwise. (Also, I just like the classic, pre-PSX FF characters more for some reason. Sprites rule, heheh). ^_^ First off, he started out as a Dark Knight; a warrior of the darkness. Yet he realized what he was doing was wrong and turned away from it, even to the point of turning against his own country for what he knew to be right. And he later became a Paladin, a warrior of the light. This suits his nature much better; someone kind, and just, and forgiving, and so on. I went through kind of the same thing, though not to such an extreme degree. I was doing things I now know I shouldn't have been doing, but I finally realized they were wrong. And I stopped, and "defeated my old self" as Cecil does when he becomes a Paladin, only figuratively for me, heh. (For any Christians out there, I'm not talking about when I actually became a Christian, but more when I actually started taking it seriously). I've found this role, like Cecil's change, fits me a lot better. I've also had some experiences similar to Cecil's. While I've never
been betrayed by my best friend
, I have learned some things about myself and my friends and others that was kind of shocking. (For those of you that have played through the game, I'm relating that to the whole Golbez thing, and the Kain thing). Also, I found his personality to be pretty close to my own. That's another thing that helps me relate to him, and another reason why I just like him so much. As for my favorite FF game, I've actually been wavering on that one lately. I played through part of FFIV again not too long ago, and I found it was still quite a bit of fun. So it's either FFIV, or FFVI. I think I actually like them both about the same, with FFVII close behind.

You can find Adamantoise on the coast of the Wutai continent in FFVII, also. But they don't look anything like the one in that pic, except that they're both turtle-looking-like-creatures. And the worms aren't as detailed in FFVII, and neither are the Bombs. I'm thinking it's gotta be FFVIII, and that Angel got it right anyway. Answer: Final Fantasy - Fighter, Thief, Black Belt, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage Final Fantasy Origins - Fighter, Thief, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage In other words, they just changed the Black Belt's name to the Monk. Question: In Final Fantasy IV, each character had a class. Name the class for each character. (I don't care whether or not you abbreviate them like in the game, and I'll accept ones from either the SNES FFII or PSX FFIV). Edit: Dang, Ginny beat me to it. I guess I'll just have to answer hers now, too. :p Answer: Fighter - Knight Thief - Ninja Black Belt/Monk - Samurai White Mage - White Wizard Black Mage - Black Wizard Red Mage - Red Wizard My previous question still stands. ^_^

Answer: "the Lucky Number Show" Heh, I still remember a decent amount from playing through Gold. ^_^ Question: In Red/Blue/Yellow, which types could you only find on duel-type Pokémon? (As in, there were no pure type Pokémon of those types).

Arik was having a nightmare. Tossing and turning in his bed, he made no noise, but if one could have seen his face during this time they would have seen a look of pure terror. Inside his mind, he saw fire, burning all around him. He cried out in the dream, but no one responded. The heat of fire was growing to be stifling, closing in around him. He cried out again, jumping forward; then the sensation of being crushed, trapped; and then he awoke, sweat puring down his face. He could remember nothing of the dream, except the feeling of pure anguish and despair. Shaking his head to clear away the thoughts, he looked at a small clock sitting on the desk. Its hands were pointing at five and four; 5:20 AM, the sun just starting to throw its rays over the horizon to lighten the night sky. Running a hand up his face and back down through his loose hair, he stood up out of bed and walked to the door. Closing it softly behind him, not wanting to wake anyone else, he quietly padded down to the cafeteria. Back in the kitchen area, Little Ted was fixing breakfast with a couple assistants scurrying about. "Breakfast ain't for another forty minutes," he rumbled upon hearing the footsteps behind him. "I know," said Arik. "I need something to calm my nerves, though. Do you have any coffee on?" "Coffee ain't gonna calm your nerves, Whit--" As he turned to look at Arik, Ted stopped short as he saw the look on his face. " 'ey, you look as though you'd seen a ghost, Arik. I'll put the coffee on." Arik noticed Ted had used his real name. "Thanks, Ted. Coffee may not be the best thing to calm me down, but I might as well drink something that'll help keep me awake. No way I'm getting back to sleep now." Shuffling back from setting up the coffee brewing, 'Little Ted' sat down next to Arik. He was, in reality, nearly twice Arik's size. "What's wrong then, eh?" "Another dream," Arik replied. He had been having these nightmares ever since he had joined the battalion, but he never remembered any images. Only feelings, which he occasionally talked about with Ted. He was usually the only one up this early in the morning that he felt at all comfortable talking with. "I still can't remember any images or anything, though. Just the same feelings, over and over again each time." "Hmm," Ted thought to himself for a moment. "I'd say you're experiencin' tension over the mission starting today, But I know ya been having these for a while now." He shook his head slowly. "I dunno what ta tell ya." Arik sighed as Ted brought him a mug of coffee. "I know. I wasn't really expecting an answer, I guess. Just someone to talk to." He took a sip of the coffee, and seemed to perk up a bit. Trying his best to grin, he said, "Well, at least I can count on one thing. Your coffee's strong as always." Ted chuckled and slapper Arik on the back (almost making him spill the coffee from the 'light' slap), and shuffled back into the main kitchen area. "Well, I gots to finish making breakfast here. If the coffee makes ya feel better, feel free to come on in and get some any time." "Thanks," Arik called after Ted's retreating figure, before taking another sip of coffee and heading back to his room. It really was good coffee. "I'll remember that," he whispered to himself as he padded his way back down the hallways. Back inside his room, Arik set about making the last preparations for the journey ahead of him. He had packed most of his stuff last night, but there were a couple things left. Picking up his solid oak quarter staff from its position leaning against the foot of his bed, he gave it an experimental twirl. Careful not to hit anything in the enclosed space, he practiced a couple of thrusts, parries, and swipes. Satisfied, he set the staff down on his bed (neatly made before he had left the room), and picked up his journal. He'd had it with him for ten years now, and he wasn't about to leave it behind. He placed it snugly into his pack, also propped at the foot of his bed, along with a few fresh pens. It wouldn't do to run out of ink only days into the journey. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- After breakfast was done, Arik headed out to the clearing around the HQ entrance. It was a bustle of activity, with people scurrying about loading the three huge transports standing outside. Two were just about ready to depart, and his group would be with the third. "Hey, Leo!" Arik walked up to the Lieutenant, staff in hand and his pack slung over a shoulder. "Look's like it's about time to get this show on the road. Look, there's Clavat, too." "Am I late?" Clavat asked as he jogged up to Leo and Arik. Leo grinned, still a little impressed with the people forming up behind him. "You're just in time." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OOC Edit: Sorry about this, but I'm going to be gone from tomorrow until Saturday, or the 4th through the 9th. Again, sorry; just keep playing my character while I'm gone, and I can catch up when I get back, okay?

Okay, I think this thread is getting a little repetitive. People are saying basically the same thing over and over again; there's not that many ways to catch a Pokémon, and all of them have been covered here. (Not to mention that using a Fire Stone on a Growlithe is kind of an obvious way to get an Arcanine. This thread is about catching one, though). Thread Closed

Well, the ways that you can get the Strange Flute are different between OOS and OOA. Are you looking for the ways in both games, or just one? And by the way, if you're playing a linked game, you'll automatically get the animal that you got in your previous game.

Um...the Earth Temple is in The Wind Waker, not Ocarina of Time. Do you mean the Forest Temple? As for that, though, you'd be able to do all but the Shadow Temple without beating a boss. (As adult Link, that is; you have to beat the previous three bosses as young Link just to get up to that point). You can grab the Fairy Bow out of the Forest Temple; the Megaton Hammer out of the Fire Temple; the Longshot out of the Water Temple, which lets you get to the Spirit Temple along with the Lens of Truth which you get from the Bottom of the Well; and then you could get the Silver Gauntlets and Mirror Shield out of the Spirit Temple. But in order to get into the Shadow Temple, you have to have beaten the Water Temple. Otherwise the event in Kakariko Village won't trigger, and you won't be able to learn the Nocturne of Shadow from Sheik, which is required to get to the Shadow Temple. Whoa...I just got an idea from that. That is, go through A Link to the Past without even getting the Pendants of Virtue, let alone the Master Sword. You could just grab the items out of the Light World dungeons without beating the bosses. You never actually have to beat the bosses except to get the Pendants, which you only use to get the Master Sword. And since I'm already doing it without getting the Master Sword, the Pendants are completely unnecessary. It would mean not getting those three Heart Containers, but that won't be much of a problem; I haven't even used a Fairy or potion this last time through, and I'm already to Level 6: Misery Mire. (I'm expecting the Ganon fight is going to require a potion, as it always has, though; but still, that leaves three other potions unused). I just keep getting more and more ideas for skipping would-be vital items in LTP, lol. If not for having to use Ether to open up Level 6, you could do the entire game with the Fighter's Sword (Lv.1 Sword).

I read this just the other day when I got the latest EGM. It was a pretty interesting article. The Bad Games make you dumb It really depends on the person. If you do nothing but play games and ignore school and stuff like that, then yeah. For me, though, videogames actually helped me. When I was really young, I'd watch my brothers play games, and it would help me with reading and spelling. I would always try to finish reading what was said before my brothers would move onto the next part of text, so it helped my reading speed a little too, I think. (They were pretty fast readers, so it was a challenge for me to keep up when I was little). Videogames also got me more interested in books, ironically enough, heh. I really liked the stories of games, and then I found there were tons of other good stories in books, too. So I started reading, and now reading is up there along with games as my two favorite things to do. Games isolate you Yes, this has happened to me to some extent, but I'm not exactly a social person to begin with and I never have been. Quite frankly, I enjoy being by myself and just doing things on my own, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy getting together with my friends and doing things. (Things other than play multiplayer games, too, heh). Really, I think I actually spend more time on OB or talking to people over AIM than I do playing videogames, in addition to doing things with people I know in-person. Games addict you Okay, no argument there. I wouldn't go insane without games or anything like that, but they are highly enjoyable, and I would miss them a dang lot. At the same time, though, I'd miss reading books just as much if they were to disappear. So it's not just games. Games screw up your body True, if you just sit around playing games all the time you're not going to be in very good shape. I'm kind of like this, but I think that's more a dislike of sports and whatnot than playing too many games. Hiking is about the only outdoors sort of thing I like to do, but it's kind of boring if you don't have someone to go with you, and I don't get to go with my friends very often. So I would like to do that more often, but it's hard to get people together. Games cause violence I have one main thing to say on this point. That is, if you don't have enough common sense to tell between the reality of the world and the fantasy of games and you end up shooting someone because of it, that's a problem with the person, not the games. It's just like the "guns don't kill people, people kill people" thing, and it's true. Personally, I've played some pretty violent games (Quake II, anyone?), yet I'm one of the kindest people I know. Again, I think it depends completely on the person. The Good Games make you smart Like I said, they helped me with reading, reading speed, and spelling. I think they've helped me with hand-eye coordination and reflexes, also. I've noticed I'm a lot better at dodging and blocking stuff than I used to be, but I'm not really any faster at actually moving. Games improve literacy *points to the one above this, and the first one* Again, like I said, helped me with reading and writing, and they actually helped to get me into reading. And you can't deny that a lot of RPGs have tons of text to read. Heck, even a game like Zelda: Ocarina of Time or The Wind Waker has a decent amount of text. Games are social Like Semjaza said, not just online games can be social. Me and my friends have had tons of fun together playing multiplayer games on the N64, GBA, and GCN. Games also led me to this very message board, which has led to quite a few good friendships. Games relieve stress Heck yeah! You have no idea how many times I've been pissed off or whatever, and used Super Smash Bros. or Super Smash Bros. Melee to totally kick the crap out of some CPU players. Very few things can calm me down faster or better than that. And if you play a really hard game when you're stressed out, you're just asking for trouble, lol. Games heal the body I don't know about physical healing, but the stress thing does help.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Majora is still the darkest game in the series, and in my opinion, the best. I don't understand the general dislike for it.
I agree; Link being a kid didn't affect how much I liked the game at all, and MM did seem to have the darkes storyline and world to me. The one and only reason why I dislike it as much as I do, really, is the time limit. Other than that, I thought it was great, but one of my most-hated things in video games are time limits. So having a constant time limit really put me off from it. The time-based events were cool, though. I'd like to see more things like that in the future.

Only a few months after I was born. ^_^ Question What item in Metroid Prime first appeared in Metroid II: Return of Samus, but didn't appear in any of the other games? (As in, it's only in Metroid II and Metroid Prime).

Nope, not A Link to the Past. LTP has the Lost Woods, but no Lost Hills. Try again. ^_^
