Answer: 1. Use a level 2 Elemental Materia paired with another materia that's an elemental in your armor. 2. Equip a piece of armor that nullifies elemental attacks. 3. Equip an accessory that nullifies elemental attacks. Question: In FFIV, what are the names of Rydia's fire, ice, and lightning elemental summons? (They're called Ifrit, Shiva, and Ramuh in later games).
Originally posted by Ohkami Youy can't forget the mages. In every game they're pretty much the same. They have the glowing yellow eyes, pointy hats just each game the graphics of them becomes better. But there isn't a mage in X and XI.
You know, it's funny how people often seem to think all black mages are like that in FF games, when in reality there are only a few of them from the series that have mages like that. I mean, there's only (excluding FFII and FFIII, since I've never played them) FFI, FFV, and FFIX that have black mages like that. What about in FFIV? You've got Rydia and Palom, both black mages (well, Rydia is also a caller, but still), and neither of them have the pointy hat or glowly eyes. In FFX there's Lulu, a black mage, and she doesn't have that outfit. And of course, in the games where everyone can use magic, there aren't any like that. The pointy hat and glowy eyes are a minority, not a majority.

Yeah, it's four. Ask away. ^_^

Nope, not 4 1/2. Closer, though.

I'm with Ginny; this doesn't seem like a very good subject for a challenge. I mean, it's kind of hard to write about playing a game that's supposed to be played by two people, when you're the only one writing for it. Even for someone that got how to play Triple Triad pretty well just from watching someone else play (if I ever play FFVIII, I'll probably spend most of my time playing Triple Triad, heh), this is going to be very annoying and not very enjoyable to write for. And I really have no idea how to go about writing for this sort of thing without just skimming over everything. I mean, you can't really go through turn-by-turn for each match. That would both take too long, and it's also kind of hard to play both sides of a match. And just saying "I won this match and got this card," is boring, since that's all this challenge seems to be. (Playing matches, that is). I don't think any of us are going to do at all well in this match, just because there doesn't seem to be any good way to do well with this sort of thing. Bah. . . . Well, I'll try and see what I can do with this tomorrow, then. I've been busy today, so I didn't have time to post, and now I'm too tired to write anything decent. I won't be too surprised if I get voted off after this challenge just because I have no idea how the heck I'm going to do this, and because I'll probably get in all of two posts with all the stuff taking up my time lately.

Um....Kingdom Hearts isn't a Final Fantasy game. So it wouldn't count for your old question. And also, FFX-2 isn't released yet, so you really shouldn't include that either. Answer: From left to right, going down. . . . President Shinra - He's president of Shinra until Sephiroth kills him near the start of the game, after you get captured in the Shinra Building. Rufus Shinra - He becomes president of Shinra after his father is killed. He ends up dying from Diamond WEAPON's assault on Midgar. Palmer - One of a few people directly below Rufus, he gets hit by a truck after you fight him for the Tiny Bronco. Scarlet - Another one of the president's advisors, or whatever they are; it never really says. You beat her by defeating the Proud Clod, a giant robot built to destroy your group. Heideggar - Same as Scarlet. Prof. Hojo - Hojo is in charge of the research of the effects of Mako, the Ancients, and Jenova. You kill him in order to prevent him from firing the Sister Ray a second time. Reeve - He controls Cait Sith. Nothing really happens to him. Tseng - Leader of the Turks, he ends up getting killed by Sephiroth in the Temple of the Ancients. Elena - The newest member of the Turks, you have the option of defeating her once and for all with the rest of the Turks on your return to Midgar, or you can just let them go without a fight. Rude - Another member of the Turks, you can choose whether or not to fight him along with Elena. Reno - Another member of the Turks, you can choose whether or not to fight him along with Elena and Rude. There, that good enough? Question: When in FFVI do you get game over when only one of your party members dies, and who is that one party member? (Meaning when you have more than one person in your party, that is).

Samus watched as the Mushroom Kingdom troops dragged Sephiroth off to the castle dungeon. She was sure Mario would be pleased at having captured one of the next-gens. Perhaps he could exhange him for Sonic the Hedgehog, who she knew had also recently been captured. Whatever happened, though, she was expecting compensation for her part in the capture. With the recharging of her suit finished, she unplugged her Arm Cannon and stepped back over to the ship's hatch. Dropping back down, she witnissed Fox shoot something off of one of the nearby tables. He looked like he was about to burst with anger. "Adam, go ahead and move back over by the Great Fox," she told the computer. "I'm going to get some information." "Be careful," the text read. "Fox doesn't look like he's in the mood to talk." "I know," Samus said grimly as the gunship lifted off. Switching on the helmet microphone, she walked over to Fox. "What happened?" Fox whirled around at the voice behind him, his blaster in hand and pointed out in front of him. His face had a look of pure hatred on it, fire burning in his eyes. Not hatred directed at Samus, she knew, but at Sephiroth, by the way Fox had looked at him as he was being dragged away. Samus just stood there, looking coolly at Fox. She glanced down at the blaster pointing at her, then looked back up at Fox and repeated her question. "What happened?" Fox slowly lowered his blaster, gazing up at the green visor of Samus' helmet. He could just barely see her eyes behind the sheen of the visor. They didn't look cold or uncaring as he had expected from her calm, serious voice, however. They looked . . . somber. As if Samus knew exactly how he was feeling. And indeed she did know. The images of her as a little girl watching as the Space Pirates mercilessly slaughtered everyone she knew on the small earth colony of K-2L were forever emblazoned upon her memory. She was the lone survivor of that attack, only narrowly escaping death when the Chozo had come and caused the Pirates to flee. From that point on, however, Samus had never been the same. She was taken in and trained by the Chozo, and was given a mechanical exoskeleton infused with Chozo blood; her original Power Suit. Now her suit and body had been infused with the cells of a Metroid, another Chozo designed weapon meant to be used for peace. The name Metroid meant "invincible warrior," but nevertheless, they had been defeated when they were discovered by the Space Pirates and turned into weapons. Defeated by herself, Samus Aran; she thought it ironic that a species that she had all but wiped out had saved her life twice now. Samus wondered if she, now the product of the Chozos' two greatest weapons combined together, was the true Metroid--the invincible warrior. Yes, with all her experience, she knew all together too well the kind of pain and anger Fox was feeling at the moment. Fox gritted his teeth, mumbling out a few words. "Sephiroth . . . Falco . . . shot him . . . the chance. . . ." It wasn't much, but Samus was able to piece together what had happened. Fox turned around again, firing his blaster at something else on the table. Before it could reach it's target, however, the red bolt of energy curved around and was sucked into the growing ball of energy that was building on the tip of Samus' Arm Cannon. The Charge Beam could attract many kinds of energy, to be used in powering the large blast. "Destroying things doesn't help," Samus said as she let the ball of energy dissipate, and then walked away. It was obvious she wasn't going to get anything else out of Fox while he was in his current mood.

Cecil thought about his homeworld, as the conversation came to a halt. He wondered how Rosa was doing at Baron Castle without him. Though he didn't show it, he missed Rosa dearly, and wished that they could visit his world. Then he could show Zell just who he was dealing with, too. For now, though, he thought it best to keep that quite. The others didn't need to know just yet. Finishing off his hotdog, he burped. "Ah, excuse me. . . ." He had never eaten anything like this before. It wasn't half bad, but he wondered what it was made out of. It didn't taste like any type of meat he had eaten before. He decided to ask. "That was pretty good. What type of meat was that?" Zell looked a little nervous as he answered. "Um, well, you see. . . ." Zell trailed off. Auron raised an eyebrow, having also just finished his. "Yes?" "Well, ah, let's just say--" Rinoa started, but was cut off. "--you don't want to know," Zell quickly finished for her. They exhanged quick glances. Cecil glanced over at Auron, who also looked a bit concerned about what he had just eaten. "Should I be concerned?" He nodded slightly. "I think so." "Worried?" "Wouldn't be surprised." Auron glanced back over at Cecil, and then both of them looked over at Zell and Rinoa. Zell looked a bit panicked. "What did you just have us eat?" Auron sounded rather serious. Zell started to answer, but Cecil held his hand out in front of him and interrupted. "Wait, no. . . . You're probably right, I don't think I want to know. It seems to be safe, as you keeping eating them, so how bad could it be?" "Well, it's--" Zell started to answer again. "That was a rhetorical question; I wasn't looking for an answer." "Rhetorical?" Cecil and Auron looked at each other again and just sighed, shaking their heads and making mental notes to not eat anything that Zell gives them.
Originally posted by hiachi Zelda MM:A good sequel to OoT, nice way to use time as a ever-present opponent. Although it is a Zelda game, I still refuse to see where she fits in, but that does make sense why it is called "Ura Zelda" in japan, since "ura" means opposite, or in this case sidestory
OOT Master Quest was called Ura Zelda in Japan, not Majora's Mask. And (at least in this case) it means "another," not "opposite." The reason for this is because OOT Master Quest was originally going to be a special version of OOT that was only on the N64 Disk Drive. Hence, "another Zelda." And it's pretty obvious where it fits in, as MM is one of the few Zelda games to have a direct link right in the game. That is, Majora's Mask takes place a little while after Link is sent back to his childhood in Ocarina of Time. It is one of the "side-story" Zelda games, however, just like The Adventure of Link and Link's Awakening along with the two Oracle games, since it doesn't have much or anything to do with the Triforce, Princess Zelda, and Ganon.
Originally posted by Juuthena Mario Party 4 - Er... at least I think it was four.
Mario Party 1-3 are on the N64. 4 (and soon to be 5) are on the GCN. ^_^

Ah, that's a tricky question for someone that has DX and got the Red Tunic early on (i.e., me). With both the Red Tunic (which doubles your attack power) and the Lv.2 Sword, it takes two hits. If I were to simply double that, since it should take half as many hits with the Red Runic, I'd be wrong, since the anwser isn't four. Answer: It takes three hits. ^_^ Question: What is the most damage an enemy in Link's Awakening can do to you in one hit, and what is the only enemy that can do that much damage in a single hit?

You've got it backwards; Sunken City is in the northeast and Spool Swamp is in the southwest. ^_^ But yeah, if you just got Ricky, you'll want to head west to Spool Swamp. Until you get the Power of Summer, you can only reach the Swamp by using Ricky to jump up to the top of a ledge which otherwise blocks the path. (Until you get the Power of Summer, that is, and can make vines grow up the ledge). After you get into Spool Swamp, you'll need to drain it at a house in the northeast corner of the swamp. Then you'll need to go to the southwest corner, where you'll find a warp to Subrosia. From there you'll be able to gain access to the Temple of Seasons and get the Power of Summer for the Rod of Seasons, which you'll use to gain entrance to Level 3: Poison Moth's Lair. (You have to make vines grow up a ledge that leads to the entrance). If you need more specific help, just ask and I can help with whatever you're having trouble with. :)

Samus saw the stab coming at her, and knew that her armor wouldn't be able to protect her this time. She was low on energy, and she doubted she would be able to survive a stab at her heart even at full. Acting by pure reflex, she morphed into a ball and rolled back a ways, the Masamune flashing by overhead. "What?" Sephiroth said in shock; yet another surprise by this armored foe. And then it became all too clear that he had made a vital mistake as Samus came out of the ball into a crouch, her Arm Cannon pointing straight at his head. He saw the fire light deep in the barrel, then the Super Missile emerging, it's green-tipped warhead flying straight at his forehead. Time seemed to move in slow motion as the missile hit him, the force of the projectile blowing him back through the air. And then it all went black as he hit the ground, flat on his back. . . . Samus stood up from her crouch, her Arm Cannon smoking. Looking down, she saw a small trickle of blood running down Sephiroth's forehead--and that was it. No other mark was on him, but the force of the explosion seemed to have knocked him out cold. "Nice shot," the text on her visor said. Samus grimaced, turning away from her fallen opponent. "Adam, come land over here. I need to recharge my suit." Walking a short distance away, she waited as her gunship landed and then climbed up through the hatch. She would let Mario do what he would with Sephiroth; he didn't look to be going anywhere for a few hours. Plugging her Arm Cannon into a socket in the wall of the ship, she waited for her Energy and Missile Tanks to refill, looking out at the crowd gathering about the fight scene. She would have to discuss payment for her capture of Sephiroth later, once all the exitement died down. My last post has been edited in accordance with the problems you brought up. -Shy

"Mario and I are old friends," Samus said. Indeed, she could remember back to the 8-bit era when she and Mario had just been starting out. A lot had changed since then, but the Nintendo triad of Mario, Link, and Samus remained strong. "Oh . . . that's good." Makar sounded relieved. All of a sudden, a the roar of engines and screams from the crowd could be heard. Samus jumped up from her chair and turned towards the sound of the engine roar just in time to see the Great Fox crash down behind the castle. "Samus, we have a problem," the text read out on her visor. Samus switched off the helmet microphone. "I can see that! Get out of there, Adam!" She watched as the ship lifted off and flew up to hover out away from the Great Fox; she was also liking the new autopilot upgrade that let Adam pilot the ship without her. Makar looked a little shocked. "What's going on?" "I don't know," Samus replied. "I'm going to find out, though. You might want to stay here." Yelling for the crowd to make way, she dashed through the horde of people. As she ran faster and faster, her Speed Booster finally kicked in and she practically flew over the ground. Then she saw a black caped man slice his way out of the ship. Only one man could do that, she thought. "Sephiroth." She knew all about this cold blooded next-gen character, and she also knew she couldn't let him get to the crowds of people, or else there would be a mass slaughtering. Going from her Speed Booster dash to a dead stop instantly by crouching, she stood up as she flashed white, and then leapt at the man. Flying straight through the air in her Shinespark move, she flashed over the distance to the Great Fox even faster than her Speed Booster could take her. Sephiroth leapt to the side, barely avoiding Samus' flying shoulder-block as she slammed into the hull of the Great Fox, leaving a dent in the hull. Sephiroth turned and swung the Masamune at Samus as she turned towards him. The sword scraped along her armor, but didn't penetrate, and the small gash quickly smoothed over as the Fusion Suit used some of it's energy reserves to mend the damage. Sephiroth's eyes widened; excepting Cloud, he had never seen anything that was able to withstand his Masamune. Samus grimaced; that cut had taken a whole Energy Tank to repair, and it had hurt. She readied her Missile Launcher and prepared to fire, pointing her Arm Cannon at Sephiroth at point blank range. "Oof!" But then something knocked into her back, causing her to fire the Super Missile at the ground in front of the man's feet. The ground shook with the force of the missile and a cloud of smoke obscured her view for a moment. "What the?" Fox yelled as he jumped through the gap in the hull and knocked into Samus. She went into a crouch as Fox bounced off her and onto the ground, and aimed back up as the smoke cleared. . . . But Sephiroth was already away and running towards the crowd. Muttering a curse, she charged up her Wave Beam and ran after him; she didn't dare use the more powerful, enemy-piercing Plasma Beam in such a crowd, for even if she hit Sephiroth the beam would continue on to hit innocent bystanders.

I'm not sulking. As I said, I'm not at all worried about be evicted because of this challenge, I just want to know what I should be doing for future challenges (quality, or speed, or something else, etc.). I think Mei deserved to win; she was the fastest, and her posts were pretty good. And I'm not saying that there shouldn't be challenges that are based more on speed or something else, either, I'm just saying it should be mentioned when there's a change. (Though I do like the ones that are based more on quality; I get more enjoyment out of the writing itself than in seeing how fast I can write).

"The winner is the team that will bring me a GOLDEN CHOCOBO faster." No where in that post did he say that post quality was what really counted, not the first team to actually breed a Golden Chocobo, yet it was actually post quality that counted. I was assuming this latest challenge was the same way, seeing as all the previous challenges were that way. And it's not that I'm worried about being voted off this time or that I'm annoyed that I didn't win, I just don't want this to happen again and end up being voted off because of it later. Hence the reason why I think it should be mentioned whether or not it's post quality or actual speed that counts. It would just help to prevent confusion.

It's pretty good, I like the character placement a lot. I think you should reverse the positioning of the "The Wind Waker" text, though, so "Wind" is farther to the left than the other text instead of to the right. That'd let you see more of the Moblin in the background, and it also wouldn't be as cramped with the other three characters. It'd sort of curve around them instead of getting right up next to them. Also, I think it would look better if the screen name were taken out altogether. I mean, people can already see your name above your avatar, and I think the extra text detracts from the rest of the banner. Of course, I never put screen names on my banners anymore unless the theme of it is me, so that's just my opinion.
