1.
Originally posted by Monkey_Orange sorry sorry *bows her head*
Heh, don't worry about it too much. Just try and remember. ^_^ And sorry if I sounded mad or anything, I was just kind of in a hurry when I wrote that. Anyway, my two favorite N64 games are Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Zelda: Majora's Mask, but I won't get into those two right now. I can't believe no one has mentioned Super Smash Bros., though. Besides the two Zelda games, it's my favorite game on the N64. I love being able to "Duke it out as your favorite Nintendo characters," to quote the text on the box. There's just something about totally whooping on DK with Pikachu, heheh. And being able to have four people playing at once is also something I really like. Most of the time when I played, even if I was just by myself, I'd play vs. mode against three other CPU players. It turns the matches into huge free-for-alls (or team battles), instead of just one-on-one duels. Also the simplicity of the controls is really nice. There are no long button combos that you have to do in order to pull off a move. (One thing that can really put me off fighting games). At the most, you push a direction on the control stick and hit one button, sometimes combined with jumping. At the same time, though, the moves are plentiful and varied. The long list of items also adds even more unpredictability into the game. I played this game more than any other on the N64, and I was still developing move combos up until I got the sequal on the GCN. (Which is really too bad, since I never got to try some of my really good, later ones on actual people). In short, it's easy to learn but hard to master, and I love that sort of game.
2. The same goes for the opposite, too; posts that don't really say anything besides "I like this!" are also spam. That's the reason most favorite threads get closed/deleted.
3. The answer I was looking for was cows, since all the enemies are parasites. So yeah, you got it. Answer: For Deku-Link's Deku Pipes, it's technically only one piece. If you look at it, there's only one mouthpiece, so it's actually only one horn. There are five different openings for the sound to come out of, though; once for the A button and one for each C button. Goron-Link has five drums, one for the A button and four for the C buttons. Question: What is the main musical instrument that you get in each game? (If you don't get one in a particular game, say so).
4. Stepping down from the Prima Vista's boarding ramp onto the tough soil below the Iifa Tree's west side, Cecil extended his hand to help Rinoa down. "Thank you," she said as he took his hand and stepped down onto the ground beside Cecil. The pair looked up to the towering tree above them, a few low altitude clouds swirling around in the wind at the top. Before them was a small dirt trail that would eventually take them to the top of the tree, but it would be a long and difficult climb. Cecil motioned for Rinoa to go ahead. "Ladies first," he said with a courteous smile. "Such a gentleman," Rinoa giggled as she started down the path, Cecil falling into step behind her. "Were you this nice to the members of Tantalus?" Cecil let out a small chuckle. "There weren't any women in Tantalus, besides Freya." When Rinoa half turned her head to look at Cecil with a raised eyebrow, he added, "Don't worry, I'm not like Zidane." This comment prompted a laugh from Rinoa, and she said, "I think we'll get along fine then."
5. Answer: Peahats, in the original, have to be stopped in order to be hit. [strike]Question: In the original Legend of Zelda, what two enemies in the second quest can shoots swords like you can when you have full life? Bonus: Which of the two enemies can't shoot swords in the first quest?[/strike] Edit: Right, it looks like no one is going to get this question, so I'll ask another. Question: In OOT Master Quest, what does Lord Jabu-Jabu's main diet consist of, besides fish?
6. I see a hot, craggy rock wall through infrared goggles. :cross: I'm guessing that comes from using the Thermal Visor in Metroid Prime so much, lol. Good banner though, it's . . . weird. And I like that.
7. I think a border would help it. Just a one pixel black border around the edge, to make it easier to see that the top and bottom are connected by the white in between. Like this:
8. Pressure quoted it a few posts up: Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis Quite a mouthful, heh. If I go slow, I'm pretty sure I can pronounce it correctly, but I'm not entirely sure on a couple bits.
9. Well, just a couple days ago I saw someone (not going to post any names) insult a new member for spamming a bit, and then they told him/her to go read the rules. (Funny thing was, the person doing the insulting hadn't even been here for very much longer). I dealt with it, but my point is, it does happen sometimes. Try not to take it too personally if a moderator comes off as a little rude, though. Like a couple people have said, we are just doing our jobs. Personally, if someone breaks the rules and I have to step in, even banning them, that doesn't always affect my opinion of that member as a person that much. I've talked to people over AIM that have been banned from OB, and we've gotten along fine. And this is especially true if it's just something as simple as closing a thread, which doesn't affect my opinion of a member as a person at all. (Unless they're mass spamming or flaming or something really bad like that). Sometimes we can be a little stressed, too, from having to do with all the spam and whatnot, and it's easy to take it out on people by being rude. I try and be as nice about enforcing the rules as I can, but still, it can be hard. Especially if I'm in a hurry, trying to type something out fast, and I'm not really thinking too much about it.
10.
Originally posted by Lady Macaiodh Another thing is how different dialects have different spellings for the same word. I'd like to be able to write or type "colour" but everyone in the US thinks I'm misspelling it. I think it's prettier than "color", though.
Okay, I just have to post this quote up, now that that's been mentioned. . . . ------------------------------------------------- Desbreko145: Yes, color! Cptn FlashHeart: It's naked without it's u! Desbreko145: ...Naked doesn't have a u anywhere, you fool! Cptn FlashHeart: Nakud! Desbreko145: :P Cptn FlashHeart: :P ------------------------------------------------- *cough* Um . . . yeah . . . late night (for me, anyway) AIM conversation, heh. Something that has annoyed me, though, is that before I started reading or writing much I would always pronounce "often" as "off-fen." Then when I started reading and writing more, I saw how it was spelled, and for some reason I would sometimes pronounce it "off-ten" even though I knew that was wrong. I've gotten pretty good at pronouncing it the right way all the time again, but every now and then I'll still say "off-ten." It really annoys me since I always like to know and use the correct pronunciation/spelling of words.
11. To people that don't know me, I think I tend to look like an Ether, but I'm actually more like an Earth. (Talking about in person here, not online, by the way). I tend to look distant (I sometimes actually am, depending on whether or not I want to associate with the people I happen to be with), maybe a little dangerous some times (black leather jacket, ponytail, I don't try and hide the fact that I have more then a couple knives on me at almost all times, heh), and maybe a little mysterious. When you get to know me more, though, you'll find out that I usually appear distant because I'm just quiet and observant. I'm decently smart, too, though not a genius or anything. I also seem to have a lot of (un)common sense.
12.
Originally posted by Voodookanaka The amount of caffiene in coke and pepsi is minimal, the ppl who said they were addicted to coke and pepsi..i mean wa? and the ppl who said chocolate, i mean, jesus, if u can get addicted to that never ever go near 'real' drugs.
I know, the amount of caffeine in most soda, tea, and chocolate isn't even nearly as much as a cup of strong coffee. And just one shot of espresso has about the same amount of caffeine as a whole cup of coffee. I think the people that say they're addicted to soda and chocolate and stuff like that aren't really addicted to the caffeine. I mean, it probably takes about one of those big two-liter bottles of Coke or Pepsi to equal the amount of caffeine in a decent sized mug of strong coffee. And like I said, it takes three cups of coffee for three days straight to get a mild addiction, and that means a lot of soda to equal the same amount of caffeine in three cups of coffee. And tea has even less caffeine than soda, most of the time. Even less in most chocolate. Though with chocolate, there's something else that you can get addicted to. That is, eating chocolate produces endorphins, which make you feel good. People get addicted to the good feeling from the endorphins, so they keep eating chocolate to get it. Oh, and here's an interesting fact about Coke that I like to throw out once in a while: You can use it to clean your toilets, and it actually works since it's so acidic. And if you leave a tooth in some Coke for a few days (I forget exactly how long), it'll actually dissolve it. After finding that sort of thing out, I'm glad I don't like any kind of soda.
13. Yeah, I do kind of agree that they should have made FFXI an offshoot game like Tactics is and not in the main series, but really, I don't care that much. All it is is a name. And if you want screen shots, just go here. GameSpot has a bunch, and they're new ones, too. Those two that I posted up are from months ago, before the game was even out in Japan. They've got some pics of some character models, too, which look really good. I so wish I could get this game when it first comes out. >_
14. Ariel Starwind opened her eyes as if she had just blinked and found herself seated at a table, staring down at a book. The book was closed, as if she had just sat down to start reading. She blinked a couple more times, slowly tensing and relaxing her muscles, becoming accustomed to her human body. In form, it was quite similar to the Ancient body she once inhabited, but in strength, much weaker. Looking around at her surroundings, she saw shelves upon shelves of books. She was sitting at one of a few tables in what seemed like a clearing, much as you would see in a forest. Low over head was a ceiling, bright fluorescent lights shining down between the bookshelves and over the tables and a thick, plush carpet on the floor. It was a dull, sterile gray-white color, matching the shelves, tables, chairs, and ceiling--she couldn't see any walls, for her view was obscured by the rows of shelves. The only real color in the room came from the many, multi-colored volumes set on shelf upon shelf. If not for that splash of color, one might mistake themselves for having gone color blind. Books, tables, no one about; absolute quiet. . . . I must be in a library, Ariel thought as she stood up. Out of curiosity, she picked up the book on the table and read the title on the cover. 'Legend of the Ancients,' it read in large bold letters. A thin smile played across Ariel's lips at the irony of the situation before she replaced the thick volume on a nearby shelf and once again returned her attention to the surrounding area. Which way to go? She turned about, looking down the various pathways between the towering shelves. Each way seemed identical, not a single marking on shelf, floor, or ceiling. After looking about for a minute, she decided it was no use just standing around, and arbitrarily chose a direction. Walking down the aisle of books, she turned a few corners and bends, but kept going in generally the same direction. This place is like a maze, she thought as she walked, each shelf looking like the last. Rounding one last corner, she came to a series of large windows, stretching almost to the floor and ceiling and tiled one next to the other as far down along the wall as she could see. There she got her first real look at herself, in the reflection of the windows. Her fair complexion was contrasted against her dark brown hair, which hung mostly in a large braid down her back, and almost blended in with the white blouse that hung loosely from her shoulders. In front of her deep blue eyes was a pair or small, silver framed rectangular glasses. She blinked, noticing them for the first time, and experimentally took them off; they didn't seem to affect her eyesight at all, but she put them back on anyway. Glancing farther down at the reflection in the window she saw that she was wearing a dark, midnight blue skirt that hung just past her knees with a large pocket on each hip. Shoving her hands down into each pocket, she pulled forth an ocarina from the left side. Like her skirt, it was midnight blue, though it had wavy silver streaks and speckles covering and wrapping around it in a seemingly random pattern. Raising the mouthpiece to her lips, she played a few experimental notes and found that she could play fluidly with little thought. As Ariel returned the ocarina to her pocket, she looked again at the window--no, not at the window, but through the window this time. Gasping at what she saw, she took a couple staggering steps back, turning her head away from the sight. Over what was once rich, beautiful land there now spread a gigantic city that stretched for miles and miles, polluting the land, air, and water all around. Great plumes of exhaust drifted up into the atmosphere from smokestacks in the industrial districts, and tall skyscrapers stretched up to the heavens in the commercial and residential districts. Starlet, before she took on her human form as Ariel, had known the humans were hurting the planet, but the extent of the damage only now became apparent to her. Appalled by the view from the windows, she walked along the wall trying to both avert her eyes from the scene below and look for a way down. She didn't want to go down into the city; in fact, she was now having seconds thoughts about having come at all. But she had made up her mind to come, and it was too late to turn back now. She had to go look for other Ancients in the city. Finally coming to an elevator, she looked at the number next to the door which read '56th.' And though there were two elevators, neither of them had an Up button, only Down. This must be the top floor of the building, where they keep all the old books, she thought as she pressed one of the buttons and waited. When the door slid open she stepped inside, waiting for the door to close behind her before pushing the button marked '1st.' Whatever was out there, like it or not, she would have to face it. Ariel just hoped that she'd be able to find one of the other ancients soon.
15.
Originally posted by Tigervx The Seven Sages who organized Link's Birthday party were arrested earlier today for what Presidant Bush called, "Creating a Biological and Chemical weapon of Mass Destruction." I can't compete with Heaven's Cloud, but I'm gonna try to get runners up Oo;;;.
Okay, that was the first one to really make me laugh, and it kept it up for a good minute or so, so I'm going with that one. Go ahead and post up a pic, Tigervx.
16. I'm not sure, but I don't think you can play it offline. I'm pretty sure your character information is stored on their servers, so that'd make it kind of hard to play offline.
17. If you're going to post in a favorite thread like this, give reasons why you like the games you do. Otherwise you're just posting lists of some popular games, which serves little point and is considered spam. More posts with just lists, without any decent reasons to go with them, and this thread will be closed.
18.
Originally posted by Break What about Cactuars, eh? ;) But seriously, this still doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy game. I don't really know why.. no storyline? *shrugs* But it's still looking/sounding good though. :)
I'm pretty sure I've seen a screen shot of a Cactuar, actually. :p But still, I think people should wait to play it until they say it doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy game. I mean, really, how can you tell without having played it? And there is a storyline, of sorts. I'm not sure on exactly how it works, but I remember reading on GameSpot when they were playing the japanese version that you can go on quests and such, fight bosses, that sort of thing. So I suppose there isn't really one main storyline, but more like a bunch of smaller stories. (And I think I remember hearing that they'd be adding more quests and stuff after the game was up and running). And about where FFXI will be in a few years after its release, I'm worried about that too. I know I won't be able to get it when it first comes out, if ever. I'm guessing I'll have to wait at least a year or two before I'll be able to get a PS2, network adapter, and hard drive, or be able to upgrade my PC enough to run it. I've heard rumors that Square Enix is only going to keep the servers running for a couple years, but I have no idea whether that's at all true. Maybe it'll be like EverQuest, though, and last practically forever. It'll probably just depend on how popular it is and how much money it makes.
19. Well, sure, it could be made to fit into the storyline of the series, but that doesn't really have anything to do with why I wouldn't want a futuristic sci-fi Zelda game. My point was that it wouldn't fit the series itself, since the games have always been set in a fantasy setting. I mean, sure, some change can be good, but I don't think I'd want that much change.
20. Wait a minute. . . . How did Ash get help catching Caterpie? All he did was throw a Poké Ball and he caught it, without the help of Pikachu or Misty. And that came before he caught Krabby.
21. Actually, you don't need any GBA cartridge for these two games. Just a GBA and a GCN-GBA Link Cable, along with the GCN and game. For official info on Four Swords: http://www.nintendo.com/e32k3/games/nintendo_lgnzelda4swd_bh8/tlozfourswords2n5_feat.jsp For official info on Tetra's Trackers: http://www.nintendo.com/e32k3/games/nintendo_tetra_bf3/tetrabf3_feat.jsp Personally, I'm really looking forward to Four Swords. I loved Four Swords on the GBA, and I can't wait to see what they'll do with a GCN version. I mean, they've got tons more room on a GCN disc than a GBA cartridge, so they have room for tons of dungeons. (Or if they go the same route as the original Four Swords, tons of dungeon pieces). Also, the link features (yes, ha ha, you have no idea how many times I've heard that kind of pun) look really cool. Like when you go into a house or into a different room from the other Links, and your Link switches from the TV screen to the GBA screen. And there won't even be any changes in the graphics, it looks like, since they're using the A Link to the Past graphics on both the TV and GBA. (Though on the TV, the camera will zoom in and out to keep all four Links on the screen as long as they're in the same room). As for Tetra's Trackers, I'm not really sure what to think about it yet. I keep thinking there's got to be more to the game than just the info that Nintendo put up on their E3 site, though. (The one I linked to). Otherwise it looks like it'd get boring pretty quickly, and it'd piss me off to no end if Nintendo made a bad Zelda game. I'm kind of guessing it's going to be one of those games that you have to play for a while before you can tell whether or not you really like it, though. Kind of like Animal Crossing; I thought that looked like it'd get boring really, really quickly, but once I played it I got hooked and ended up playing every day for about three months. So yeah, like I said, I don't really know what to think yet. One thing I'm really glad about, though, is that I didn't sell my original GBA right away when I got my GBA SP. I still have my original one, and I've decided to keep it because of these two games. Now if someone without a GBA were to come over, or if they didn't have their GBA with them, they'd still be able to play using my original one while I use the SP. I'll need to get another GCN-GBA Link Cable, but those are cheap. :)
22. Answer: I'm guessing just FFIX. I know/am pretty sure you don't get it in FFIV, FFVI, or FFVII.
23. *cough* . . . Um, yeah, there are Chocobos and Moogles in FFXI. I don't think they could get away with calling it a Final Fantasy game without them.
24. Well, so much for my previous idea. :whoops: I was kind of wondering why Ash had a different hat in the few pics that I've seen from the new series. I guess that explains it.
I wonder if Misty is going to actually wear Ash's old hat, though? That would look kind of funny, heh.
After hearing this, though, I can't help but think that Misty will show up again some time either in this new season or in the next season. It'd be really annoying to just leave the whole thing hanging like that.
