After Sephiroth sliced off its leg, Freya leapt forward and thrust her javelin through its heart. The strange, half beast half bird creature screamed in pain, and then slumped to the floor. "Good job," said Cecil, "but if we're all down here in the cargo hold, who's up on deck flying this thing?" The group looked at each other for a moment, and then Cecil dashed for the ladder leading up to the deck. "I used to command a fleet of airships," he yelled back to them as he climbed the ladder. "I know how to fly these things!" Another moment passed, and as the group started heading towards the ladder, the ship suddenly swerved to the side, throwing everyone against the right wall. "He can fly these things my--" Freya was cut off by another yell from Cecil. "Guys, get up here fast! We've got a much bigger problem this time!" The ship abbruptly swerved again, and a loud roar was heard from outside. "I think I believe him," Auron said, and climbed up the ladder as quickly as he could with the others following. As they emerged through the hatch up onto the deck they saw Cecil standing at the wheel, a look of desparate concentration on his face. "What the heck is going on?!" screamed Zidane. "Dragon!" Cecil yelled back as he spun the wheel hard to the left, jerking the clunky ship out of the way of a large pillar of flame just in time. "Hurry up and kill this thing before we get fried! The ship can't take much more of this!" "I'll take care of this," said Freya as she leapt into the air. Landing on the dragon's back in mid flight, she plunged her javelin deep into the monster's neck before leaping back to the deck of the airship. The huge beast roared in pain but it still continued to circle around for another pass, weakened but not defeated from the wound. "Lets see how it handles this." Sephiroth clenched his fists and then made a quick gesture at the dragon, which was now heading straight for them. As he did so a huge bolt of lightning struck, stabbing straight through the dragon, and everyone had to look away from the immense flash of light. The dragon fell from the sky, still flaming, and Cecil just managed to stear clear of the eratic pattern of fire. "Scratch one dragon," said Sephiroth. "It seems we have a rather competent pilot," said Auron, and gestured in Cecil's direction. "But a rather incompetent ship. I thought this thing was going to fall apart. "Hmph, I coulda outflown that thing any day," said Zidane, and Freya had to choke back a laugh.

I take it you're talking about in A Link to the Past, right? Answer: Good Bees are sparkly, while normal bees aren't. Question: In A Link to the Past/Four Swords (LTP game), there's a shop in the Village of Outcasts that has Good Bees, but they're not for sale. How do you get the shop keeper to start selling the Good Bees?

"So, you're telling me you bet on the oldest and slowest Chocobo in the race?" "Oldest, maybe, but not slowest. Come on, Pickles, you can do it!" "Pickles is in last place. And they're coming up on the finish line. Face it, it's over." "No, he can do it! Come on, come on, come on!" At this point, Zidane was practically jumping up and down screaming at the screen showing the race. More than a few people had stopped what they were doing and were just staring at him. Cecil looked around at all the people watching, and then slowly started backing away from Zidane, heading back over towards Auron. A loud yell of anguish came from Zidane as Pickles finished in last place, and at that point Cecil just turned and walked away. "I take it he lost?" asked Auron. "He wasn't even close." Back over at the counter, Zidane was zelling at the man taking bets. "That race was rigged, I tell you! I want my Gil back!" "I see..." "Hey," said Cecil as he looked at a large map of the Gold Saucer on the wall. "This could be interesting," he said while pointing to the Battle Square area.

If you have the Master Sword, fighting Orca is so easy. I got up to 555 without getting hit once, and then I just sat there and let him hit me three times. :p The trick to not getting hit, though, is to not do combos. Just target him and tap the B button about every second (maybe a little faster), so that you'll just keep doing normal, vertical swings instead of doing a combo. If you're hitting him with the tip of your sword like this, he can't reach you with his spear. You actually have a longer reach than him! And when he starts to attack, your sword will bounce back off his spear. When this happens (or if you see him get ready to attack), wait for him to finish his attack before swinging your sword again or you risk getting hit. And to be ever more safe, raise your shield and take a step away from him. Usually his spear won't even touch you, but sometimes you end up being a little closer, so you should still raise your shield just in case.
Originally posted by Krillen It angered me even more because my Prima strat. guide said to get the piece of heart you hit him 300 times, so I did and I got an orange ruppee instead. I was so mad!
This is another reason why I only buy Nintendo Power player's guides, for games made by Nintendo. The info in the NP ones is very, very rarely incorrect.

Yeah, that's all of them. And the one that lets you turn into a statue is called the Tanooki Suit.

"From the looks of them," said Freya, "you'd have to spend the money on the girls." "Yes," agreed Auron, "this is a prison after all. You can probably find all manner of unsavory characters here." "I say we go back up into the Gold Saucer," said Cecil as he sheathed his sword. "Yeah, fine," said Zidane as he threw one last glance at the two girls standing out in front of one of the run down houses. "Too hot out here anyway." The group headed back to the elevator, and Sephiroth pulled out the keycard he had gotten up above. He slid it through the slot on the door, and waited... Nothing happened. He tried again; still nothing. "Don't tell me we're trapped down here." "We aren't," said Sephiroth as he tossed the keycard away. "It's just a door." "Right, but how are we supposed to get through it when it's locked?" In response, Sephiroth drew his Masamune and stabbed the blade through the door's lock mechanism before kicking the whole door in. "Like that," he said as he stepped through the door and into the elevator. The rest of the group followed, and waited for the elevator to arrive back at the Chocobo racing area.

I'm changing Cecil's color to teal. I think it fits him better than sienna, and it doesn't blend in with Zidane's orange as much. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cecil looked around at the old, run down buildings of the desert prison, the harsh light glinting off his armor. "I don't think we're looking for anything. Cid said to wait for him at one of the locations, not to search for a key." "If we're just waiting," said Zidane, "that means I'll have time to bet on the Chocobo races!" "Look, I know you're the team captain--for now--but we're probably going to need that money later." "Yeah, but I don't lose. "Everyone loses sometimes," said Sephiroth. "There's no way around it." "Fine, then I'll swipe some Gil on the way outta here, if I lose. "More thievery? From the looks of this place, there's already enough going on." At that moment Cecil whirled around, drawing his sword as he did so. Pointing the blade at a would-be pickpocket not two inches from the sword's tip, he said, "Indeed. Keep an eye on your Gil if you don't want to lose it." Gesturing to the thief with his left hand to leave, Cecil slapped the flat of his sword across the pickpocket's back as he turned to run. This resulted it a sharp yelp of pain, and Cecil turned back to the others. "That means you especially," said Freya, giving Zidane's tail a sharp tug.

Actually, I think that's the second Warp Whistle (not sure which of them in World 1 comes first), and I know the one in World 2 is the third. You can also get one in the first fortress/castle thing, in World 1, by going all the way to the right until you get to the door. Instead of going through the door, though, fly up off the screen and over to the right, and you'll drop down into a hidden room where you'll get a Warp Whistle. And for the Animal Crossing question, here's all the chores he makes you do: 1. Plant flowers and trees around his shop. 2. Meet all the villagers, including the mayor. 3. Write a letter to one of the villagers. 4. Make a couple deliveries to some of the villagers. 5. Run a couple errends for some villagers. 6. Write an ad on the town bulletin board. Question: Name all the different suits that you can get in Super Mario Bros. 3.
Originally posted by Zidane Yes, but they were given a permit as the Final Fantasy series was copy-righted by Square in which any company would need a permit, or written permission to produce Final Fantasy based publicity. For example, the '8 Bit Comics' of Nuklear Power, it is read at the bottom that a permit was needed. Otherwise, this unofficial Final Fantasy VI Prequel, if it were to have a price put on it, this would never happen. Hence the need for permission from Square. It doesn't matter of they're not involved, I'm sure you'd want to give permission for someone to copy you, or your ideas.
That's the thing, though; they didn't get permission from Square. They're just hoping that they won't get sued because they're not charging for it.
Originally posted by Cyko Either way it still works generally well. At least you wasted a turn.
Not if you can't switch out at the same time that they switch out their KOd Pokémon. They'll switch out, it'll say what Pokémon they're using (giving you the fake name), and then you'll actually be able to see the Pokémon when they bring it out (revealing what Pokémon it actually is). Then you both select your commands for the next round, after actually being able to see what Pokémon they're using. So if you can recognize what Pokémon they're using by looking at the sprite, it's not going to make a difference.
Originally posted by Cyko Nope, that isn't true. For example: "Cyko is going to use Blastoise, will you switch pokemon?" If you do, and I just named a Magmar, Blastoise you would have the wrong pokemon out. And I could get at least one attack in. ;)
Well, unless they changed it for G/S/C and/or R/S, you can't switch out Pokémon when you knock out one of your opponent's Pokémon. Yours stays in until you switch it out instead of attacking, or until it gets knocked out. Or maybe they changed it in one of the Stadium games... I know in R/B/Y, though, you couldn't switch out when you KOd an oppnent's Pokémon.

I thought Ifrit wasn't in FFIV, though? Anyway... Question: In FFIV, when does Cecil go up three, four, or sometimes even five levels from one fight?

Heh, that's one of the trickiest parts of that dungeon. What you have to do, is, climb up through one of those water spout things. (Well, more like swim up through, but whatever). There'll be a wide, rectangular room with those statue head things on the northern wall with water coming out of them. You should be able to just swim up two of them, to get into two other rooms.

Cecil watched as Sephiroth joined the rest of the group, and he edged over to him. "Something wrong?' he asked. "...It's nothing." "You sure? You looked like you'd seen a ghost." "It's nothing... And it would take a lot more than a ghost, anyway." "Right, right..." Cecil started to pace back and forth, waiting impatiently for Cid to read out the teams. He didn't like just standing around doing nothing. "Relax," said Auron. "I'm not tense; I just don't like to waste time." "Right, right..." replied Auron. Cecil shot a sideways glance over at Auron, and then laughed quietly. "Indeed," he said, and continued to pace.

Cecil chuckled at Zell's antics, thinking that Auron and himself would probably get along pretty well. "Only one more, hmm?" Cecil said to no one in particular. "Good; then it won't be long until I'll get to see what you guys've got." "You won't be disappointed," said Cloud. This was the first time Cecil had heard him speak, and he didn't sound like he was just boasting. "Good," Zidane shot back. "Wouldn't be any fun if this were easy." "No, it wouldn't," replied Freya... Silence filled the air for a moment, until it was suddenly shattered. "One more, one more, only one more!" exclaimed Rikku in a high pitched squeal. "Ack...maybe Zell isn't so bad," Cecil mumbled as he held a hand to his ear. "What?!" "Nothing, nothing..." "Great, now there's two of them." "The more the merrier," replied Auron, a smirk hidden behind his collar.

I just know I'm going to forget one, but I guess I'll give it a shot. Answer: Chocobo, Titan, Mist Dragon, Ramuh, and...Shiva? Not sure, but I'm pretty sure there were five.

Hey Ginny, for your site, Cecil's best weapon is called the Crystal Sword. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A man dressed in shining white crystal armor, partly covered by a cape of faint yellow and blue, stepped through the crowd towards the airship. Near the edge of the line of people, he saw a young boy sitting on the ground with a scraped knee. "Here," the man said, kneeling down next to the boy. "Let me help you with that." He mumbled a few words and made a slight gesture, and the scrape healed before the kid's eyes. "Hey, thanks mister!" the kid called after him as the man walked away. Letting a small smile play across his face, the man stepped up onto the ramp. As he entered the airship, he looked around at the people already there. A lock of his blue-white hair fell down across his face, and he quickly brushed it aside before stepping over to the small sign up sheet and signing his name. His spot in the game secured, he turned back to the other contestants. "Looks like the party's already begun," he said. "The name's Cecil, nice to meet you all."

I learned a trick to beating Thardus a while ago, actually, that makes it so you don't even have to switch to the Thermal Visor. What you do, is,
go into the Morph Ball when he rolls up and starts rolling after you, and drop Bombs as you roll. When Thardus rolls over them, the Bombs will blow off a section of rock, revealing a weak section. Then you just have to shoot the vulnerable part until you destroy it, then repeat the process.
Actually, I had to fight Flaagra twice in order to beat it, but I beat Thardus the first time. I was unloading Super Missiles on that sucker like there was no tomorrow, heh. And about not wanting to use missiles, I had that problem at first. I was used to Super Metroid, where you only really need missiles for bosses and mini-bosses, and where you can usually only hit bosses with missiles. It's not like that in Prime, though. You can hit everything with your normal beams, so missiles aren't quite as crucial. Still, though, if you're fighting a boss or mini-boss, you should just unload everything you've got. Don't hold back, because the boss sure isn't going to be holding back at all. As I've learned while playing Metroid Fusion, where you seem to take a lot more damage than in other games in the series, it's better to use a few missiles, even on normal enemies, than to get hit. Oh, and James, missile combos (or beam combos, whichever name you prefer) are attacks that combine beams with missiles. The Super Missile is the combo for the Power Beam, where you charge up a Power Beam shot and then tap the Y button, which uses five missiles along with the charged Power Beam shot to make a Super Missile. There's a missile combo for each of the four beams. I love the one for the Plasma Beam, heh. It's great for clearing roomfuls of enemies.

I've been lazy about collecting the last Heart Container Pieces (I need 11 more), so I haven't beaten it yet. Once I get all 20 hearts I'll go and beat it, and then I'll have done everything but get all of the figurines in the Nintendo Gallery. I plan on doing that on the second quest, though. Also, another reason why I haven't gotten those last Heart Container Pieces yet is because I've been playing my GBASP and Metroid Fusion a lot lately. So that's been kind of distracting me, though I'm planning on playing TWW some more tonight.

No, that's Thardus. Flaagra is the big plant monster boss in the Chozo Ruins. Trying to flip those mirrors was a pain in the butt until I figured out I could stun it with enough Arm Cannon shots. :cross:
Originally posted by GinnyLyn How did you make/get the background for the Keepers of the Forest banner? That one's my favorite, and so is Makar! *huggles the little cutie* I want to say you probably did something with the blur tool in PS, but I'll wait to hear what you say.
Heh, I actually didn't make the background. (I use PSP7, not Photoshop, like James said). What it is, is just a background that I found quite a while ago while browsing the net. I'll attach the file; it's actually not that big, and I ended up having to tile it for the banner. Edit: Right, I made another banner. This one isn't a "Keepers" banner, though; this time it focuses on Link. In fact, the one and only picture that I used, besides the background, is of Link. Because I only used one pic it's kind of on the simple side, especially compared to the other four banners in this thread, but I kind of like it because of its simplicity. I think it gives it a sort of fresh, clean look. I added it to my first post, or you can take a look at it here:

Yeah, I went and found it last night, not too hard to find. I just did a search for it. I suppose it was okay, but I've seen a couple other anime music video things like that that were better. Good for a laugh, though. And yeah, I saw that it says the song is by Weird Al at the end of the movie, but it's not. You won't find that song on any of his albums.

You're right, you can't learn Meteo as a spell. The only monster I've seen use it are Intangirs, too.

Nope, not Odin. You learn Meteor from Odin, not Meteo.

Answer: I think it's Garland, but I'm not sure. Never really played much of FFI, and I know most of what I do from watching my brothers play a long, long time ago.
