1. Bleh, you actually expect people to remember that? They fill up the entire top of the tower. >_< I'd say about 20, though I have no idea on the exact amount. And there are four WEAPONs in FFVII, but the one that gets its head blown off at Junon is Emerald, not a seperate WEAPON. There's Ultimate WEAPON (black dragon), Diamond WEAPON (grey one that attacks Midgar and gets shot by the Sister Ray), Emerald WEAPON (blue one that gets its head blown off, and swims around underwater around Junon), and Ruby WEAPON (the one in the desert around the Gold Saucer).

Yeah, well, I don't like to cheat, especially for getting new Pokémon. It takes away that feeling of satisfaction of getting them on your own... And isn't that one of the biggest parts of the Pokémon games? Catching 'em all? I think I'd shell out the dough for an e-Reader and cards before I'd use a GameShark. (If you do end up having to use the e-Reader, that is).
3. You got it right for OOT, but not for the original. (The answer for the original is the trickiest of the three). Care to try again? ^_^
4. Yeah, that's basically it... Right, since you don't want to ask, I'll ask another one. Question: In FFVI, what are each of the 8 Dragons called? (As in, red dragon, blue dragon, that sort of thing).
5. I guess I'll add a bit to what Ginny put down... For the FFIV logo, that looks more like Kain to me, than Cecil, mainly because he's holding a spear, and not a sword. Kain is a rather big character in the game, though. (And also my favorite--first you like him because of his cool jump ability, then you hate him, then you learn that it wasn't his fault, and you like him again). For the FFVI logo, we have some Magitek Armor. Reasonable enough, seeing as magic/Espers is the focus of the game.
6. Thamasa is from FFVI, not FFIV. Answer: Mist is the name of the town. Question: In FFIV, when you first go to Mist, Rydia's mother has just died. What caused her to die?
7. You got it right for A Link to the Past, but they're not the same in Ocarina of Time. Try fighting both types with the Kokiri Sword, and you'll see which is stronger. With the Master Sword, they do both only take one hit, since the Master Sword is twice as strong as the Kokiri Sword.
Originally posted by Darkmoon ...and all you can play on them are mini games beside's the extra pokemon battle's.
You can play full games on it, actually. I think they have two series of NES games out for the thing, now, maybe more. Even with NES games, though, there isn't enough you can do with it yet to make me spend the money on it. (I think they cost about $30, but I'm not sure). I, too, am still hoping that they'll start using it for more things. But anyway, if those Pokémon just aren't in the game, or you have to use the e-Reader to get them or something like that, I don't think I'm going to be getting Ruby or Sapphire. Personally, I'm not willing to spend the money on the game, an e-Reader, and a bunch of e-Reader cards so that I can catch every Pokémon.
9. Question: There are both red and blue Tektites in the original The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, and Ocarina of Time. List which of the two colors is strongest in each game. (As in, do the red ones take more hits to kill, or do the blue ones take more hits kill, or are they both the same?)
10. Well, I'm not positive, but I don't think it ever actually says flat out who Sephiroth's real father is. Sure, Hojo says he's Sephiroth's father, but are you going to trust a madman who was hopped-up on Jenova cells at the time? :p
11. Dude...the whole topic is about a Zelda game, and whether it could be the best in the series. How does that have to do with anything besides Zelda? Sure, it has to do with Nintendo, since Zelda is made by Nintendo, but nothing else. And we have a Zelda forum for the specific purpose of having threads about Zelda and nothing else in it. And that's exactly what this thread is. *moves thread* The Wind Waker could end up being the best Zelda game in the series so far for me (it's all just a matter of personal opinion in the end), but I doubt it. Why? Overall, I like the top-down view of most of the 2D Zelda games better than the 3D games on the N64. Sure, Ocarina of Time is a great game, but it's still only #5 out of 9 on my list of favorite Zelda games. I expect The Wind Waker to top Ocarina of Time, but I just can't see it beating A Link to the Past / Four Swords, my current favorite. The original A Link to the Past was my favorite game ever for a long time, and was finally only topped with a remake of A Link to the Past, with another multi-player game added. I'm thinking The Wind Waker will probably come in #3 or #4 on my favorites list.
12. Here's the way I remember things: About the Cetra
The Cetra, like Ginny said, went from planet to planet. Some of them, though, broke off and wanted to settle. The ancestors of these settlers is the human race.
About Jenova
Jenova is an alien life form, that crashed into the planet and caused the crater on the northern continent. It wounded the planet, but didn't kill it, and Jenova ended up frozen down in the crater. After who knows how long, Professor Gast (a scientist studying the Cetra/Ancients) found Jenova, and took it back to his lab to study it. Before he could finish his research, though, Gast died, and passed on his work to Hojo. Hojo started performing experiments that involved injecting humans with Jenova cells, and Mako. The monsters inside the Nibelheim reactor were a result of some of those experiments.
About Sephiroth
Vincent, who was then a member of the Turks, was going to have a baby with Lucrecia. Hojo wanted to try injecting Jenova cells and maki into the baby, but Vincent wouldn't let him. He ended up getting kicked out of the Turks, probably experimented on by Hojo, and locked in the basement of the Shinra Mansion. Lucrecia had the baby, who was named Sephiroth. He ended up being more powerful than anything Hojo had "created" before. And, because he was injected with Jenova cells be Hojo, Jenova was his "mother," and Hojo was his "father."
About Aeris
Prof. Gast was, at one point, studying an ancient. He became involved with her, and they ended up having a baby--Aeris. Knowing that when Hojo took over, he'd try to find the baby to use in his experiments, Gast sent Aeris away to live with...um...what's her name, living in the Sector 5 slums... But, yeah, the person you find her living with at the start of the game. (No, that's not her real mother that she's living with, in case you were wondering). So, since Aeris' mother was an Ancient, Aeris is a sort of half Ancient. Therefore, she can still use the White Materia (which I think her real mother gave her before she left) to summon Holy. And, her being able to summon Holy is the reason Sephiroth killed her, since Holy had the power to stop Meteor.
About Cloud & Zack
Cloud leaves Nibelheim to join SOLDIER, as does Zack. (Though he came from Gongaga). Zack makes it, but Cloud doesn't, and ends up becoming a Shinra soldier. So, in Cloud's story at Kalm, he's really the soldier on the truck that has motion sickness, and Zack is member of SOLDIER with Sephiroth. So, when they get to Nibelheim, they go up to inspect the reactor. Sephiroth freaks out about being "created" like the monsters in the capsule things. He goes back to the Shinra Mansion, down to the basement, and reads about Jenova, and Gast's and Hojo's experiments, learning how he was injected with Jenova cells and Mako. So, in his rage, he torches the town, and goes back up to the reactor to get Jenova, which was being stored there. In the reactor, in the room with the capsules, Zack tries to stop him, but ends up getting mortally wounded, along with Tifa who's also there. He goes in, gets Jenova. While he's in there, one of the wounded Shinra soldiers out in the same room with Zack and Tifa wakes up. Guess what, it's Cloud! Zack tells Cloud to kill Sephiroth, so Cloud takes his Buster Sword. Confronting Sephiroth in the room just before the capsule room, with the walkway over the big Mako pit, Sephiroth stabs Cloud right through the middle with his Masamune and holds him up in the air a bit. Cloud, though, being the total bad*** that he is, pushes himself back to the ground, lifts Sephiroth into the air, and tosses him off into the Mako pit below. All without the use of his arms. Cloud carries Tifa back to Nibelheim before he calapses, and Hojo ends up finding him and Zack. Hojo saves both Cloud and Zack, and experiments on them down in the basement of the Shinra Mansion. This is where Cloud gets injected with Jenova cells and Mako. After they escape the Shinra Mansion, they head off to Midgar together. Zack tells Cloud about his life and how he's going to become a mercenary on the way there, so that's where Cloud gets all the info about Zack. Hojo had sent out some Shinra soldiers to capture them, though, and just before they get to Midgar they get caught. Zack ends up getting killed, but again, Cloud takes Zack's Buster Sword and kills the soldiers. This time, he keeps it, though, and heads into Midgar. Still messed up from the experiments that Hojo did on him, Cloud ends up thinking he is Zack, so that's why he's a mercenary at the start of the game. So, when he gets into Midgar, Tifa finds him, and from there tries to get him to join AVALANCHE. After that is what you actually play through in the game.
Well, that's how I remember everything. It may not be exact, but it's at least pretty close. Hope it answers some questions.
13. Well, in Link's Awakening, you can use the Shovel to reflect Agahnim's Shadow's (one of the forms of the end boss) fireballs. Is that what you're looking for? Oh, yeah, and I think you might be able to reflect Agahnim's shots with the Bug-Catching Net in A Link to the Past.
14. Bleh, sorry, but introduction threads aren't really allowed... Feel free to introduce yourself around the boards with a little side-note in other threads, though. Heh, but no, we don't hate newbies/n00bs/what-have-you here... At least, most of the people here don't. I can't guarantee that every here doesn't. :whoops: Anyway, hope you have fun here. Thread Closed
15. Yep, that's right. You know, it's kind of funny--I never noticed that until I played Master Quest. I guess I just never really paid much attention to the symbol back when I was playing the original.
16. Yeah, the Link's Awakening one has been asked before, I'm pretty sure. Answer: In Oracle of Seasons, you get the Slingshot, which just shoots a seed straight out. Then later, you get the Hyper Slingshot, which shoots three seeds out at once, one going straight and one angled off to each side. In Oracle of Ages, you get the Seed Shooter, which you can use to shoot seeds out in all eight directions without having to move, and the seeds will also bounce off walls a couple times before bursting. Question: In Ocarina of Time, what symbol is on every Kokiri Shield?
17. Yeah, OMQ is harder (I like it, the original OOT was too easy). I'm also in the Water Temple, actually, though I've just gotten into it. (Only gotten one Small Key so far). I'm sick, though, so I haven't been playing much for the last few days. I can't wait to fight Dark Link, though. That's my favorite fight in the whole game, because you actually get to sword fight with an opponent that's actually hard to beat.
18. Heh, that reminds me of a fan art pic of a Saria (from Zelda: Ocarina of Time) plushie. (See attachment). ^_^ I like it. Green is my second favorite color. Very cute.
19. Well, I'm sick right now...and reading this thread inspired me to write this post...so I guess you could say I found inspiration to write while being sick. :whoops: But seriously, though, being sick doesn't really affect the amount that I write. (Unless I'm so sick that I have to stay in bed and can't even get up to use the computer, anyway). It might give me more free time to work on something I've been writing, or I might come up with something to write during the time that I'm sick... But it's not like I come up with more things to write while I'm sick than other times. Overall, it really doesn't make much of a difference for me.
20. Yeah, one of Capcom's teams (I think it was Flagship) developed the two Oracle games (GBC) and A Link to the Past / Four Swords (GBA), though Miyamoto ended up working with them a lot. I've also heard that Capcom is also going to develop another GBA Zelda game, too. So, yeah, Nintendo and Miyamoto must be pretty happy with their work if they're having them do yet another Zelda game.
21. Well, I dion't know if I played it for two hours, but I did do the first two or three levels in Eternal Darkness. For me, it got old really fast. I mean, a lot of it seemed to just be killing zombies and stuff. Sure, I thought the story parts were good, the puzzles were okay, and the insanity effects were really cool, but it just wasn't all that fun to actually play, at least for me.
Originally posted by GhostofSalvtore well other than ED and RE, what else does GC have to offer that I havn't given a chance? I mean here is a list of the few games I have given tried and just didn't feel compelled to buy or keep playing. SMS Animal Crossing hmm a big big list well there are probably more but these are the big ones I would say.
Yeah, you really shouldn't say the GCN has nothing to offer if you've only played a few games. I mean, go look on nintendo.com, and go to the "game list" area and get a list of all the GCN games out there. There has to be some games that you'd like.
Originally posted by hiachi Well, on the topic of exclusives (even tho this isnt an exclusive....) Im happy that from Final Fantays Crysta Chronicles and forward, Square will make all their RPG's on GCN as well as PS2!!!
Where did you hear that? Last I heard, Square was going to keep the main series on the PS2, and have a new series (Crystal Chronicles) on the GCN. It would be really nice if the main series games were also released on the GCN, though.
22. As Sabre ran off towards the ball, Raifus looked around, and noticed he was in one of the full-back positions. Good, not a forward, he thought... And then he realized that people would still be kicking the ball his way, and it was actually his job to get in the way of it. In fact, the ball was heading his direction right then. Oh, not good--not good at all. Diving to the side, he deflected the ball in mid-air with his stomach, before landing on the ground and doubling over. Really, really not good, he thought as he slowly stood up and rubbed the aching spot on his belly. But at least they didn't score. That's a plus...I guess. Really, Raifus didn't care all that much whether his team won or lost. He didn't even really like sports all that much, but he tried to do his best--even when it meant being a human shield. Goalie: Dude, are you all right? That was a pretty good block. Raifus: Yeah, just--*gasp*--uh, gimme a--*wheeze*--minute. Bent over slightly, resting with his hands on his knees to hold himself up, he watched the ball as it moved up and down the field. He hoped it would be a bit before it got all the way down to his end again.
23. Answer: That would be Eblan, I believe. Question: In FFIV, when is Odin especially weak to a certain element, and what element is it?
24. Right, just go back to the room where the path splits, past the room with all the wholes in the floor. (This would be in the northern end of the first floor). Now, the path splits five ways, three passages going north, one east, and one west. (You get the Boomerang in the room at the end of the eastern path, so you must have been there already). Now, to get into the other rooms, you may have have to carry Ruto with you, to have enough weight to push down some of the switches. (I forget which types of switches go with which doors). Or, you maybe need something to hold the switch down. Ruto also works for this, or you can just go back south, through the room with the holes, and into the small, circular room with the elevator. Here you'll find two small wooden boxes, which you can use to hold the switches down. Okay, now, in most of the rooms off of the branching path room, you'll find a tentacle. (I think there are three, but I may be wrong, it's been a while since I did this in the original OOT). Have the Boomerang equiped, and get close enough to target it. The point that you target it at is a little narrow section up near the ceiling. Hit it with the Boomerang and you'll damage the tentacle, and cause it to withdraw part way up into the ceiling. You can still target it while it's in this position, just don't get too far away, otherwise you'll break off the lock. Now, to get the tentacle to come back down where you can hit it, move forward, almost right up next to it. Then, before it can hit you, do a backflip or two away from it, and let fly with the Boomerang. If you don't get too far away, the tentacle won't move back up into the ceiling until you hit it. And, when you do hit it again, just repeat the process until it dies. It's actually quite easy to kill them once you know how. And, once you kill the right one (or, you might have to kill all of them, not sure), the big stringy thing blocking one of the holes in the other room will be gone. Hope that helps. And if you need any more help, just ask. :)
25. What about Capcom's work on the GBC/GBA Zelda games? Nintendo and Capcom worked pretty closely on those, and they did a really good job. From everything I've been hearing, Nintendo and Capcom have a pretty good relationship. Whether or not they'd let Nintendo use some of their characters in an SSB game, though, I have no idea.
