  2. [color=indigo]Well, according to pokemon.com, the fourth Pokémon movie came out in the US on Oct. 11, 2002. I haven't really been paying attention to news about the movies, though, so I dunno.[/color]
  3. [color=indigo]I don't really care how many Hylians or characters of other races there are. It'd be nice to have some variety, but there's not a limit to how many of each there can be. One problem, though, Valen... Bombos, Ether, and Quake are more spells than items. They're kind of like Din's Fire and Nayru's Love and those from Ocarina of Time. So, if you want to keep them, you'll have to be a Sage, and give up your primary weapon in place of a strong spell. (Though really, Bombos and Ether are the sort of thing that a primary spell would be, since they take out everything in the surrounding area). I suppose I should define more what spells are, and what magic items are, for the things from the games. A spell would be something like I mentioned above. Something like Bombos, Ether, Quake, Din's Fire, Farore's Wind, Nayru's Love, and elemental arrows. Some other things that use magic power in the games but would be defined as items here would be things like the Fire and Ice Rods, the Magic Cape, Magic Powder, the Cane of Somaria and Cane of Byrna.[/color]

  5. This is a Zelda RPG, obviously, but it?s also a bit complicated. Make sure that you?ve read and understand the rules before signing up, and also only sign up if you intend to stick with it. I don?t want a bunch of people signing up and then never posting. You don't really need to know anything about the story of any of the Zelda games to play in this RPG, since I made up the story. You should, however, be a good role player. Like I said, this RPG is more complicated than some, so I'm going to select people to play in the RPG based on their applications. Oh, and remember, you can't be Link. Read the story below to find out why. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [color=seagreen][b]Story[/b] What if, instead of Link defeating Ganon in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Link is defeated by Agahnim at the top of Hyrule Castle Tower, after Princess Zelda was cast into the Dark World? With the Seal of the Seven Wise Men broken and Link out of the way, Ganon would then be free to return to the Light World (Hyrule), and rule both worlds as he had dreamed. And, he would have no trouble doing this, since Hyrule is already under the control of Agahnim. With the gate to the Dark World thrown open, all manner of beasts and monsters would be free to wander through the open and now abundant portals between the two worlds. Also, Ganon?s army would be free to enter the light world and conquer any resistance that might still be left. In quite a short time Hyrule would once again be under Ganon?s rule, but this time, there would be no hero to stop him? Or would there?? Enter the World of Ruin, the lands of both Hyrule and the Dark World, both evil and corrupted by Ganon?s evil wishes. Hyrule has now been under Ganon?s rule for about 4 years, and although it is not quite as corrupted as the Dark World, it is still quite dangerous to wander outside of the few towns and camps scattered around the world. Portals to and from the Dark World are becoming more and more common, the two worlds becoming more intertwined with each other every day. It is quite common to find portals to and from the Dark World out in the open, instead of just in a few secluded places. Ganon, quite pleased with the ease of being able to step from one world to the other so easily, has nevertheless overlooked one very important detail. Hyrule and the Dark World are not simply two different lands; they are on two different plains of existence. Not quite the same, yet not wholly different, the two worlds are linked together, causing events happening in Hyrule to also affect things in the Dark World and vice versa. So what, you ask, has Ganon overlooked? It is the fact that, if those two worlds were to ever be fully joined together, the two plains would meet and crash into each other, ultimately causing the destruction of both worlds. Normally, the Triforce keeps the balance of the plains in check, but now, with Ganon twisting its power for his own evil devices, the two worlds are becoming joined by more and more portals. If something is not done, the two plains will continue to grow closer to each other, until they clash, spelling doom for all who live in both Hyrule and the Dark World. But now, when all hope seems to be lost, Sahasrahla, a descendant of one of the Seven Wise Men, finds records of two ancient weapons that were used against Ganon in the Imprisoning War long ago, to weaken him enough to be sealed in the Dark World. He calls a young warrior, Drake Desbreko, whose ancestors were of the knights line, like Link?s ancestors. Telling him of the weapons, the legendary Master Sword and the sacred Silver Arrow, he bestows a quest upon his shoulders. He is the last of the knights line and the only one left that can defeat Ganon, and must therefore set out to obtain the Master Sword and Silver Arrow, and defeat Ganon once and for all. [b]Map[/b] We?ll be using the map from Zelda: A Link to the Past, for both the Light World and the Dark World. The Light World, however, is becoming quite run down, plants are dying, water is getting to be polluted, there are more monsters about? Pretty much like the Dark World, only to a lesser extent? The Dark World being totally barren, with absolutely no plant life anywhere, except in the few fields around the even fewer towns, and in the Skull Woods, where the trees are old and mangled, and form maze-like passages through the forest. [b]Character Classes[/b] - Knight If you choose to be a Knight, you?ll get a primary weapon (such as a sword and shield), and a smaller secondary weapon (such as a bow and arrow, though that can be your primary weapon if you're an archer). You?ll also get five secondary items, such as a boomerang, or a bomb bag, to carry bombs in. Also, if you want, you can choose to give up one of those item slots so that you can have one magic spell. Keep in mind that it can only be a weak spell, since you?re playing as a Knight. (Like, you may choose to have a weak healing spell, or maybe a weak Fire Arrow spell if you have a bow and arrow). - Sage If you choose to play as a Sage, you?ll get a powerful spell instead of a primary weapon. You?ll still get a secondary weapon, and then you can also have three secondary spells, in addition to two secondary items. (Remember, if you want to have a Fire Arrow or Ice Arrow spell, you?ll need to have your secondary weapon as a bow and arrow). [b]Picking Up/Dropping Items[/b] If you find a weapon or item in the RPG, but you already have the maximum amount of items that you can carry, you can choose to drop one of your other items, so that you can pick up the one that you?ve found. Or, you can give one of your other items to another player, so that you can pick up the new item. But remember, the other character must then drop one of his or her items, if they too already have as many items as they can carry. Always remember what items you have! [b]Learning New Spells[/b] If you?re playing as a Sage, you can also learn new spells during the course of the RPG, much like you would pick up a new item. Say you found a scroll with a spell written on it, but you already have the maximum amount of spells that you can learn. You could then choose to replace one of your old spells with the new one. His eyes are a deep, dark green, which shine with determination. Drake wears a dark, navy blue tunic similar to what Link wore, and underneath a dark grey shirt. He wears sturdy, rough leather pants, which are brown, and darker brown boots like Link used to wear. Over all of this, he sometimes wears a dark grey, hooded cloak, which can conceal the sword, shield, and bow and arrows he wears on his back. [b]Background/Bio:[/b] Drake Desbreko has lived in Kakariko Village all his life. He's ventured out into the world a few times, but his knowledge of the outside world is still pretty small. And, after the fall of Link and Ganon's takeover of Hyrule, almost no one left the village. However, despite the chaos that the world is in, Ganon ruling the Dark World and Agahnim the Light World, he tries to maintain a fairly cheerful attitude. He has an ironic sense of humor, and the determination required for continued survival in the World of Ruin. Over the years, Drake has become a warrior of sorts, helping to protect the village from monsters and bands of roaming thieves. Though he doesn't know it, his help has made Kakariko the safest place to be in both the Light World and Dark World. So, when Sahasrahla summoned him and told him he was the last known remaining descendant of the old Knights of Hyrule, and that he must be the Legendary Hero, destined to defeat Ganon and restore peace to both worlds, he was shocked. He didn't consider himself as great a warrior as some of the others who protected the village. He was even more shocked when Sahasrahla told him that news had leaked out about the Master Sword, which was apparently being guarded deep in the dungeons of Agahnim's Castle. With this sword, Sahasrahla tells him, he would be able to defeat the evil wizard. And, to top it all off, he tells Drake about a Silver Arrow that could be used in conjunction with the Master Sword to defeat Ganon. However, Sahasrahla only knew of the Silver Arrow, and not where it was kept. So, having learned the mistake of sending one alone to face the evil of Ganon and Agahnim, Sahasrahla sends Drake to gather other warriors to accompany him on his quest. Only a group of the most valiant and courageous would be able to succeed in this mighty task.   9. [color=indigo]In most of the games, I think that is mainly what the sword upgrades are for. But, in MM, there are so few basic enemies that you don't really need it for that so much. Either the enemies in MM are already few and weak enough that you can already kill them easily with the Kokiri Sword, or you can just run right past them without a problem. And yeah, the bosses in OOT and MM do seem easier to me. I hope The Wind Waker corrects this problem that the 3D Zelda games seem to have.[/color]
  10. [color=indigo]I saw the commercial on TV awhile ago, and I also downloaded the one off zelda.com. It was okay, but I liked the Oracle of Ages/Seasons TV commercial more. It did beat the OOT TV commercial, though, which was short, and showed about three, one-second clips of gameplay, and that was the only good part in it. It seems that GameStop is already reserving copies, too... I gotta got to the Software Etc. in our town! That pre-order bonus will be mine! :toothy:[/color]
  11. [color=indigo]Yeah, it seems that some of the boss fights in the two N64 Zeldas are a tad simpler than in the others. On the other hand, though, most are more complex. (You also have to keep in mind that that was the end boss in LTP). You'll notice that the fights with Ganondorf and Ganon in OOT weren't incredibly long, though. (Well, okay, the fight with Ganondorf was long, but part of that was just because you had to bat the stupid fireballs back and forth over and over again. Though if you're good, you can get him with one within a couple times of it going back and fourth between you and him). The fight with Ganon, though, didn't take me long at all, if you don't count the cinimatic bits where you're not actually in control of Link. Oh, and the first time (and every other time I fought him, really), Ganon in LTP probably took a good five minutes. That may not be long compared to some boss fights in the N64 games, but a [i]lot[/i] happens in those five minutes. It seems like longer, too. I think part of the reason why the boss fights in the N64 games take longer is because there are times when you'll just be sitting around, waiting for either an opening to attack, or to dodge an attack. (King Dodongo, the boss of the Dodongo's Cavern in OOT is a good example). That and scoring a hit may take a couple steps. (Such as in OOT, in the fight with Bongo Bongo, where you have to shoot the hands and the main body, and then actually do damage to it). So yes, the boss fights are actually longer, but they don't seem incredibly long, because you don't have to score tons of hits on the bosses. It seems like in the other games, you'll have to score tons of hits on a boss to defeat it, but you can also hit a boss at almost any time during the fight. In the N64 games, you may have to work more to score a hit, but you don't have to score as many hits. So, even though it actually takes longer to beat the boss, it doesn't seem like it, because it's paced well enough so that you don't get bored from doing the same thing 20 times.[/color]

And when I say "who they are," I mean, how they act, also, because how they act is a reflection of who they are. I don't care about what other people can do for me, for the most part, because really, I'd rather do it myself. Sure, I'll accept help if I need it, but I'd rather not need help to begin with. I really don't ask for much of anything from anyone, except borrowing a game from a friend here or there, and I figure that's not much to ask, considering that I'm always lending them games, heh. (Isn't it amazing how I can talk about almost any subject, and it eventually comes back to video games?) :p I think I'll end this post now, because I don't remember much of what I just wrote in that last paragraph.   15. [color=indigo]Well, I'll look at screen shots and movies, but I don't think I'll be reading anything about it, either. I want to go in fresh, as far as the story goes, heh. Screen shots and movies can't tell you much in the way of the story, unless it's a movie of some big cut scene where it's telling about a big plot point or something like that... And those don't seem to pop up all that often. Mainly, though, I've just been waiting for Nintendo to release some more official art for the game. I've seen them use a lot in graphics on the websites and in posters and stuff, but there's barely anything out there by itself.[/color]
  16. [color=indigo]To kill a Peahat, you have to hit the little pointy root on their underside. To do this, run around it until you get to the side of it where the spinning blades are pointed up in the air, and not down along the ground. Then just hack at the root with your sword, shoot it with arrows, whatever you want. Just don't attack them at night, because they'll just send out a swarm of little Peahats that'll chase you. You can dodge or block them by just facing them and raising your shield, though. And Break, sure, I like having the boss fights take awhile, because the boss takes lots of hits... Just not a fight that lasts 15 minutes, where you have to land 30 hits doing the same thing over and over again, with no variety. That, I think, is too long, and becomes boring. (And it seems the bosses in MM, the ones that you use your sword on anyway, would be like this, if not for the Gilded Sword). Now maybe if they made the fight more varied, they could make it longer. They did that with the end fight with Ganon in LTP. You hand to land upwards of 25 hits with the most powerful sword in the game just to get to the point where you could stun him with your sword, and then you had to shoot him with a few Silver Arrows. What made it fun the whole time, though, is that Ganon changes his attacks, gets quicker and better at dodging, and even turns the lights out and becomes invisible until you turn the lights back on (by lighting some torches in the room). All of that combines to make the longest, hardest, and funnest boss fight in the game. If, however, they had made Ganon just follow one set pattern of attack, only using one or two different attacks throughout the whole fight, yet still made it so you hand to land the same number of hits, it would seem like the fight would just drag on and on. It would get boring dodging the same couple attacks over and over and over again.[/color]

  19. [color=indigo]Yeah, maybe you should get the real game. It could be something that happened during the copying process, or something like that. (Such as an error in the copying of the CD, causing the game to crash whenever it tries to access the part of the CD that got currupted). I mean, if you don't have the money to buy it yourself, you could just borrow the original copy from your friend. I'd try using your saved game with a real copy of the game, and see if that works. If it doesn't, try copying your saved game to a disk or something, and transfering it to your friend's computer to try it on a different system. And yes, copied games and ROMs are illegal, and posting links to them or sites that host them is against the rules.[/color]
  20. [color=indigo]I haven't seen or heard anything about whether there are Zoras in the game, but I'd think so, since they've been in almost every other Zelda game. That, and the game is set on a collection of islands, so it'd be the perfect environment for Zoras. I also don't see any reason why they wouldn't be in the game.[/color]
  21. [color=indigo]Heh, if you want to see a lot of enemies, try playing the original The Legend of Zelda. On most screens, there's at least (I really mean, [i]at least[/i]) five enemies--and that's for both the overworld and the dungeons. It's definitely one of the hardest games in the series, second only to Zelda II, unless you want to spend hours sitting around leveling up. Even with the Magical Sword, the sword that's three times as powerful as the sword you start with, a blue Wizrobe takes four hits; red ones take three hits. I think, in Majora's Mask, the reason they put in the sword upgrades was to make the boss and mini-boss fights easier. While yes, they're just all the more easier than other boss fights from some other games in the series, they won't take forever to beat just because of the number of hits you'd have to land with the Kokiri Sword. I don't know about other people, but I don't want to spend 10 minutes fighting a boss, doing the same thing over and over and over again. (Usually the fights consist of figuring out how to hit the boss, then just avoiding an attack, hitting the boss when it's vulnerable, and then dodging more attacks until you can hit it again).[/color]

I mean, OOT had the trading sequence, and you had to do other stuff with people, too. Sure, maybe not quite as much, but still a decent amount. The Oracle games have even more interaction with other characters, while still even having eight dungeons... And Oracle of Ages is supposed to be more focused on puzzles than combat! I dunno, maybe the N64 just can't handle lots of enemies. OOT and MM both have less enemies than any other Zelda game, so maybe that's it.[/color]

Nintendo has this thing about "quality over quantity," so I don't think that's going to happen...ever. However, I would like to see another 3D Metroid game like Metroid Prime. I doubt there's going to be another one any time soon, though, since it took so long to develop Prime.[/color]
  25. [color=indigo]I downloaded a movie off IGN, which showed Link (in the LTP game) fighting a couple soldiers. It was a recent movie, and it looked like it was from the final release, so I assumed that's what it's like in the game... And there was a voice, every time you swung your sword. It sounded like the voice in OOT and MM when you swing your sword, only higher pitched and not as good quality, since it was coming from the GBA.[/color]
