Heh...I'm not an otaku. Heck, I barely visit the anime forums. Sure, I've seen some anime, and I've liked most of what I've seen, but I can't really think of anything I'd want to discuss about it. The reason I came here, back around the start of v3, was because of the gaming and series forums. The reason I stayed is because I made some friends that I enjoy talking to, and also because this site has the best rules I've ever seen on a message board. As for how I found OB, it was actually through theOtaku.com...kind of... Anyway, I was searching for a good Zelda site one night, looking for some official art from one of the games, I think, and one of the results on the list was, for some reason, a page called the "Pika Dance." (I have no idea why a Pokémon page came up in a search for Zelda pages). I was curios, so I clicked the link, and was then faced with lots of dancing Pikachu gifs, with the Pokémon theme playing softly in the background. I stared for a minute, and then took a look at the site's home page: www.theotaku.com. I looked over the site, and though I wasn't that interested, I bookmarked it anyway, because I thought the Pika Dance was funny. Then, after a few weeks, the board that I had been going to closed down for awhile, and I decided to look for another one. I couldn't find any that I liked, and then I remembered theOtaku.com, and wondered if it had a message board. I looked down the list of links on the home page, and then clicked the "Forums" link. I was taken to the OtakuBoards homepage, and after a couple days of looking around, I signed up, and have been here, lurking in the gaming and series forums, ever since.

*deletes a bunch of posts* Remember, people, you have to give reasons why a games or games are your favorite, not just a list. Otherwise, it's spam. And also, downloading any ROM is illegal, no matter how long you keep it for. Even if you delete it after only a minute, and without playing it, it's still illegal. The "24 hour rule" is completely made up. Anyway, my favorite game is The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, on the Super NES. I like it because it's long, decently hard, has lots of enemies and puzzles, and very complex dungeons. I also really like how the Light World and the Dark World are tied together, and puzzles will involve doing something in one world, and then warping to the other, where the effect of your action in the other world lets you complete the puzzle. In my opinion, there really isn't anything wrong with this game, that I can think of. One thing, though... I suspect that The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords (on the Game Boy Advance) will top the original ZLTP, because ZFS includes a whole other multi-player game. I don't know yet, however, because I haven't played Four Swords.

I suppose it would've be okay if he only yelled when doing a Spin Attack. (There's no jump attack in LTP, the Spin Attack does double damage, since you have to charge up each time to use it). As it is, though, I think's it's going to be even more annoying than the voices in Super Mario Advance, where there was a voice for when you pick up something, and for when you throw something. I mean, a sound effect for swinging your sword is fine, but not a really loud one. The old sound effects for swinging your sword in the original made a *swish* sound, which actually became deeper and softer as you got better swords. That was fine. It wasn't annoying, let alone annoying after only hearing it a few times. In the end, I guess I can live with it, but I get the feeling that I'm going to have the volume way down a lot of the time. I suppose that's not too bad, though, since I have all the songs in the game memorized, lol.

You know, I would think the same thing, except that there are so few enemies in Majora's Mask that it doesn't really bother me, lol. I mean, there were more even in OOT. At least there you'd run into some Lizolfos or Stalfos every now and then in the dungeons, but in MM, it's mainly only a few little weak enemies, a miniboss or two, and then the boss. About the only areas where this isn't true is the area in between Termina Field and the Southern Swamp at night, and up in the mountains in the day, because there are Wolfos and White Wolfos. (And maybe the part of Termina Field where you find Dogongos, but those things are really easy to beat with the Kokiri Sword, too, it just takes awhile). And those places are part of the stinking overworld, for crying out loud! Oh, and by the way, the Gilded Sword is three times as strong as the Kokiri Sword, not four. I think the Great Fairy's Sword is four times as powerful, though.

No, you keep all of the Materia that she had equiped. However, I do believe that you lose her weapon, armor, and accessory when she leaves. I'm pretty sure about that, anyway.
-
Yes, Zelda Gaiden was originally planned for the 64DD, but it's not an add-on to OOT like Ura Zelda, and it wasn't moved the GCN. Zelda Gaiden was the original code name for Majora's Mask. When the 64DD flopped, they decided to just make it on the main system.
-
Well, it really depends, for the Nail Bat. Yes, it is just a bat with nails stuck in it. It also doesn't have any Materia slots. To make up for this, though, it has pretty high attack power, for that point in the game. It just depends on whether you want powerful attacks, or lots of magic.

Gaming I think that Retro Studios is the best company that GC ever worked with
Desbreko replied to SS5 Gogeta's topic in Noosphere
Well, Metroid Prime is going to get Retro Studios a lot of praise all by itself, heh. I actually haven't played any of their games besides Metroid Prime (do they have any others out, even?), but if their other games are anywhere near as good as it is, they're going to do very well for themselves. -
I'm not sure if Eevee can learn any grass type moves as egg moves or not... I suppose I could get out Pokémon Stadium 2 and check... *checks* Nope, neither Eevee nor any of it's evolutions can learn any grass type moves, neither by leveling up, from TMs, or egg moves.

I dunno, I think a game based on being a gym leader would be kind of boring. You'd just stand there, waiting for people to challenge you, lol. However, I do think it would be cool to have a game where you could join Team Rocket. In addition to just fighting trainers that you meet, you should have the option to try and steal one of their Pokémon. You could either just play fair, or you could steal Pokémon, and join Team Rocket if you want. And, if you do decide to join Team Rocket, you would have to give so many of the Pokémon that you steal to the organization, and if you steal enough, you'd go up in rank. I think that'd be really cool, and it'd definitely give the Pokémon series the innovation that it needs. Lol...the release date has been up on pokemon.com for awhile now. If you want to discuss Ruby and Sapphire, though, there's already a thread here. This thread doesn't seem to have much to do with Ruby and Sapphire, though. The title seems a little out of place, since the thread is mainly about other things. I can change it so it'll show up on the forum list, if you want.

Yeah, but how was I supposed to know that there aren't really any other characters? I barely know anything about the game's story, other than that Vaati kidnaps Zelda and Link has to use the Four Sword to save her. I mean, there is at least a little more to the story than that, isn't there?

One of my friends has this game, and I've played it a bit, but not too much. I liked the levels with Sonic and Shadow, but the controls are a little too twitchy. I'd just barely push the control stick to the side, and it'd jerk me around way farther than I wanted to go. It was especially annoying when I was jumping from rail to rail on one level. Made lining up with the rails really hard while falling towards them. But, um...why would it be not as good because it's a port? I don't see why that would matter very much, unless they really screwed something up when they ported it.

Here's a walkthrough for OOT that I got off zelda.com awhile ago. It has a pretty good section on the Water Temple.
-
Yes, they'll be using the names Ruby and Sapphire for the US releases. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. And, um...how are they confusing? They're just the names of two types of gem stones. Rubies are red, and Sapphires are blue. The Red and Blue versions have been Crystalized, heh. ...Okay, that was a bad joke. :D As for the pronunciations... Roo-bee, Sa-fire... Not hard at all. It's the spelling of "Sapphire" that's hard, if anything. :) Edit: Bleh...it sounded like you were talking about the names of the games themselves.
-
Bleh...that sucks. Two of my friends have GBAs, and neither of them has played more than just a bit of A Link to the Past, so I'm hoping I can convince them to get it.
-
Yep. That's why I prefer Red or Blue Potions to Faeries in A Link to the Past. Potions can get you up to full, while Faeries only restore seven Hearts.
-
Right, so Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords is out in the US now, and it's driving me crazy because I'm not going to be able to get it until Christmas. (Well, if I'm going to spend more than $2 on each Christmas present, that is, heh). But anyway, I was wondering if any of you have gotten to play Four Swords much. If so, what's it like? Is it good? How balanced are the cooperating and competing parts? Opinions on the game and info on what it's like would be very nice. (Just remember to use the
tag for things about the story and how to beat bosses and such). Even if I can't play it yet, I'd still like to hear about it. :)
-
Yes, you can catch a Dragonair by fishing in the Safari Zone. Funny how you catch them at level 15 (I think), when Dratini evolves at level 30, heh.
-
Bleh...I knew the name Vaati, from Four Swords, but I didn't know it was a class in D&D. >_< Heheh...that's a tricky one. The max is supposed to be 5000, but if you put in 4999, fill up your wallet with another 500, and try to deposit all of those, it'll let you deposit all 500 instead of just 1, giving you a total of 5499 Rupees in the bank. Question: In A Link to the Past, how many Hearts does a Small Faerie restore?
-
Lol...it's not that hard. Are you stuck on the big maze room, then? After you get through that part, it's not too hard to get to where you need to go or do what you need to do. Mainly just annoying, heh. I can help you, if you want. I've been through it twice, and I also got the player's guide after beating the game, so I can always take a look at that and give you help from out of it, too.
-
Bleh, whatever. I just knew that you got it in the Department Store in Celedon City. :cross:
-
Well, I've mainly only seen first season episodes, but out of the ones I've seen I think Electric Shock Showdown is my favorite. Mainly because you get to see Pikachu kick a Raichu's butt, heh.
-
You buy one at the Celedon City Department Store. (And it's Ice Beam, by the way). Question: In Pokémon Yellow, where can you catch a Dragonair?
-
Dangit, I'm not going to be able to get Zelda: LTP/Four Swords until Christmas... Looks like I'll have to sit out on the questions about Four Swords until then. >_
