You can be pretty sure that the US release will have different box art. The art is usually pretty different between the Japanese and US releases for Zelda games, from what I've seen. Personally, for the box art, I'd be happy with an just the sword and shield logo on a gold background, like the old boxes. Of course, I still think they should go back to using something like the LTP and LA logos, with the sword going down through the "z" instead of going diagonally behind the shield. That, so far, is my favorite Zelda logo.

Sorry, couldn't resist... And yes, I got permission first. :D ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In through an open window, a plain, white envelope blows in on a gentle breeze. It lands softly where Mini-Neil had been standing. Neil picks it up, looking at it quizically. He opens it up to find a few sheets of paper folded up. On them is an "essay" (by the way it reads, it sounds more like an editorial, though) that reads as follows.
Name: Drake Desbreko Professor: Final Flash Class: Otaku Big Brother II Date: November 11, 2002 The Links of the Zelda Series There are varying opinions about whether the games in the "The Legend of Zelda" series are linked together, or if they are unrelated. Some people are of the opinion that all of the games are in a continuous timeline, while others believe that there is perhaps more than one Link (the main character in every game). I, however, believe that there is only one Link, and that the games are linked together in a timeline. While the game designers have said that they do not develop the games with connecting them to other games in the series (with a few exceptions), there are, nonetheless, connections between some of them. Some are quite obvious, while others require more digging into the story. A good example of a connection would be the link between The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and The Legend of Zelda: Link?s Awakening. In the story section of the Link?s Awakening instruction booklet, it says, "Though you fulfilled the Hyrulian prophecy of the Legendary Hero and destroyed the evil tyrant Ganon, the land of Hyrule enjoyed only a precarious peace. "Who knows what threats may arise from Ganon's ashes?" the restless people murmured as they knitted their brows and shook their heads. Ever vigilant, you decide to journey away from Hyrule on a quest for enlightenment, in search of wisdom that would make you better able to withstand the next threat to your homeland." This shows that Link?s Awakening is set directly after one of the times that Link defeats Ganon and restores peace to Hyrule. And, there are only three games in the series in which you, playing as Link, do that. Those games are The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Why do I think that Link's Awakening is set after A Link to the Past, and not one of the other two? It?s actually quite simple, really. We know that The Legend of Zelda: Majora?s Mask is set directly after Ocarina of Time; this is one of the few links that the game developers actually put in on purpose. And, we know that it cannot be set after The Legend of Zelda, because there is also another admitted link between it and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. So, that leaves A Link to the Past to be the only plausible option. So, we see, there are some links like that that you can assume are there just because there is no other option. And there can?t be no link at all, because it clearly says in the instruction booklet story that you set off on a journey after defeating Ganon. Of course, tying some of the other games into the timeline requires much more of your own theory, such as placing The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons into the timeline. There really isn?t any mention of any of the other games in these two, which complicates matters greatly. All we really know for sure is that they are set during a time when Hyrule is at peace, because Link is in possession of the Triforce at the time, as seen in the opening cinema in the games. Again, this limits the possibilities of where the games can be placed in the timeline, but not as much as with Link?s Awakening. Basically, the Oracle games could be set in a bunch of different places. It is my theory, however, that they are set last in the timeline, after The Adventure of Link. I have come to this conclusion based off the fact that, when you get game over in The Adventure of Link, is shows a silhouette of Ganon, and says ?Game Over Return of Ganon.? This may not be anything by itself, except for the fact that, if you play through one of the Oracle games and then play the other as a linked game (by using the password that you got at the end of the first game), you have to fight Ganon to stop him from returning to Hyrule. And, if the Oracle games were set after The Adventure of Link, and you died in The Adventure of Link, Link would not be around to defeat Ganon and stop him from returning to Hyrule in the Oracle games, hence the ?Return of Ganon? message on the game over screen in The Adventure of Link. Now that you?ve seen some evidence to support the games being linked together in a continuous timeline, you can see some evidence against it, to help you get better perspective on the issue. Obviously, it will be a bit biased, since I believe that the games are linked together, but I will try my best to be objective in presenting the other side of the argument. First off is the issue of the game developers saying that, in most cases, they don?t develop the games with ties to other games in mind. They design the game to be fun, with a fresh storyline. As you have already seen, there are still links between some of the games, but can those really be credible if the developers have said they aren?t intentional? Some people believe that they aren?t. Some go so far as to say that each game is set in a different world, hence the changing landscape of Hyrule in each game. Of course, if the landscape remained the same through every game set in Hyrule, it would get boring, but still. Lakes, deserts, and forests don?t just get up and walk across the map from time to time. Another problem lies in the story of Ocarina of Time, in which Link is sealed away for seven years so that he can grow old enough to use the Master Sword. With it, he defeats Ganondorf, who turns into Ganon for the very last fight, and then Princess Zelda sends him back in time to his childhood once peace has been restored. But how is it possible to change the past by doing something in the future? This is another problem that could be answered with the response of the game developers just wanting to have an interesting story, and not caring about loose ends such as that. On the other hand, this can really put a wrench in the works for people that try to tie the series together. In fact, it?s about the biggest hitch of them all, and it really just has to be pretty much ignored if Ocarina of Time is to be linked with any of the other games. I could go on and on about the various evidence for and against the series being linked together, but I?ll stop at two examples for each. While I wouldn?t say that you should base your opinion off of this information alone, I would say that these examples offer some of the best examples of the evidence. I would encourage you to study the story of the games and learn more about the histories behind the games, before you really form on opinion on this matter. After all, there really is quite a lot to support both sides. When all is said and done, though, it is my opinion that there is more evidence to support the series being linked together. Like I said, about the biggest hitch is the time travel issue in Ocarina of Time, and pretty much anyone can see that the developers just wanted to have an interesting story, and that they didn?t care all that much about loopholes. In the end, though, it is really just a matter of opinion, as to whether they are linked together or not. And, it just happens that my opinion is in favor of them being linked.
If you have to double post because you can't fit the whole thing in one post, it's okay. :) Dang...I thought I was excited about Metroid Prime just from watching the latest batch of video clips. Now, after reading that and other previews/reviews, I can hardly stop myself from literally jumping with joy and anticipation! I really don't know how I'm going to be able to get through the next week, before it's released.

Lol, yeah. In the Dark World, there are skeletal Cuccos, and they'll attack you, too. That's even more amusing than with the normal ones, heh.

Well, where are you stuck in it? And which (if any) of the dungeon items have you gotten? (The Megaton Hammer, Dungeon Map, Compass, and the Boss Key are the dungeon items for the Fire Temple, by the way).

Lol...just look at my second post in this thread. I already explained how to get the Wing Cap.

Okay, I've got one... Which came out first? Pokémon Red/Blue, or the cartoon series?

Cool, a Trigun section! Trigun is the only series in which I've seen every episode. Love and Peace! :luv:

What are the Power Stars? Hmm...that's kind of a hard question to answer, actually, since it doesn't tell a whole lot about them. Basically, they protect the castle, though they must not do a very good job if Bowser can just come on in and steal them. :cross:

Um...well, considering that Link has a flashback to Zelda giving him the Ocarina of Time when he gets it back from the Skull Kid, I'd say no, he doesn't get amnesia.

Well, that depends... They're not making the game with any relation to the others in the series in mind, but there are a few things that I know of so far that suggest that this game is indeed set after OOT (and MM, for that matter). The biggest of which is that Link turns 12 at the start of the game, yet he's only 10 in OOT. Now, there are things to suggest that this game is the first in the series, however, such as Link getting his signature green tunic as a gift on his 12th birthday. There is a way, however, with what I know of the story so far, that I can somewhat tie the GCN game in with OOT, MM, and LTP (A Link to the Past). Okay, so lets look at the story lines for OOT and MM. In OOT, Link defeats Ganondorf/Ganon. About a month later, Link is ambushed by a Skull Kid in the Lost Woods, who had stolen Majora's Mask. Link chases the Skull Kid into Termina, an alternate universe, and saves the world from destruction. Now lets take a look at my current theory, about when the GCN game is set: When he comes back to the land of Hyrule, whether from his manipulation of time in Termina or just because time passed differently in Termina, several generations have passed, and anyone that Link knew before has long since died, and Link's exploits in OOT had passed into legend. The Kokiri have left the land of Hyrule, and the Lost Woods has spread out to encompass what was once Kokiri Forest. Link, only being about ten years old and not having a home, wanders the land, until he's welcomed into a small family. That family consists of a man living with his daughter. Link becomes part of the family, coming to call them "uncle" and "sister." Yep, you guessed it. I'm talking about Link's sister, Arill, in the GCN game, and Link's Uncle in LTP. The events in the GCN game happen, whatever they are, and Link ends up living with his uncle afterwards. (I can't really come up with anything to explain what happened to Arill, yet, since I'd need to know what happens in the GCN game). A few years pass, Link grows into a young man, and then the events in LTP take place. Now, I could go through my whole timeline, but these are just the parts that are relevant to the question. And, as I said, that's my current theory, and it will most likely change once I know the events that happen in the GCN game. But anyway, I think that, from what I know so far, the GCN game does come in between Majora's Mask and A Link to the Past. Other people may think otherwise, this is just what I think. Since they barely ever develop the games with links to the other games in the series in mind, you could say that only a few (like OOT and MM) are linked, and the others are totally seperate. It's just a matter of oppinion. So, in conclusion, if you want to think of the GCN coming after OOT, then go ahead. If you don't, there's really nothing to prove you wrong. That's the interesting part about trying to link the Zelda games together; it's almost all theory, with barely any proof.

That is the last level. At the end of the third Bowser level, the one at the top of the staircase, you fight Bowser again, as the final boss. Instead of only having to hit him once, though, you have to hit him three times. Also, he has a few more tricks up his sleave, but I won't give anything away. I will say, however, that the fight is my favorite boss fight in any Mario game. It's hard unless you have some practice with the fight, but it's the most fun I've ever had with a boss in a Mario game. Thinking about it makes me want to play it again, and fight him.

Lol...I'm already writing a Super Mario Sunshine walkthrough. I'll post up a little walkthrough for individual Stars that people need help getting, but I don't have time to help write a whole walkthrough. As for the "Five Itty Bitty Secrets" Star, it's not actually that hard, if you know your way around the level, both big and small. Anyway, the five secrets are: In the middle of the pool on top of the mountain, in front of the hole where the giant cannon balls come out to roll down the hill, in front of the entrance to the mountain (the place where you'd go in to get the eight Red Coins), where the cannon is, and next to the doorway that you start out by, on the side with the pool of water where Lakitu flies around. So, yeah, that's all there is to it. Switching back and forth between big and small makes it easier to get around on the island, but remember, you have to have it small to be able to get the secrets.

Woohoo! FFVII sequel! Yeeeaaahhh! ...* cough* ...I mean, uh, I really hope this happens. The only thing I would be worried about, if they do make a sequel to FFVII, though, would be being disappointed if it's not as good as the first FFVII. FFVII was one of the best in the series, and there's a lot to live up to. I just hope that they can pull it off.

Gaming What is a good Final Fantasy site name?
Desbreko replied to Zanarkand Abes's topic in Noosphere
Hmm...seeing as I haven't played FFX, I don't really know if there's anything better to use, so... I dunno... It sounds decent, and it certainly doesn't sound bad. -
Gaming Can Kingdom Hearts be classified as a Final Fantasy game?
Desbreko replied to Zanarkand Abes's topic in Noosphere
Lol... I'd say no, considering that it's not called Final Fantasy. SquareSoft makes a lot of different RPGs, but that doesn't mean they're all FF games. Final Fantasy just happens to be their most popular series, and as such, they stuck in some cameo appearences by a few FF characters. -
*just notices thread* ...I can't believe I didn't see one of those banners! ...At least I get to come, now, since it's been delayed. I guess that's one good thing that's coming out of the delay, right? *tumbleweed blows by* ...Oh... ;) But, uh, anyway... Since Blanko is gone, I can't really PM her, so, uh... Can I be the photographer? I love taking pictures for blackmai... I mean, I love taking incrimin... I just love taking pictures! :D So, what do you think?

I try to be friendly, especially when modding, like when I close a thread, so I don't come off as a "big bad mod" lol. I'm usually only in the series/gaming forums, though, so I don't really know what many of the people that don't visit those forums think of me.

[I don't think we were quite as weird as y'all, but I may be a bit biased. :p]
Yep, back in the good ol' days of v3 and v4... And you're right, it wasn't as crazy/spammy back then. It was kinda crazy, but not so much that it was really spammy. Actually, come to think of it, I think we may actually have started this whole thing in the intro forum... People saw us welcoming people in humorous ways, and took it a little too far. ...Oops. :cross: :D Anymore, I barely ever post in the Newbie Lounge, simply because it has gotten too spammy for my taste. I agree with CWB, most people just seem to post the same thing over and over and over again. Back when I posted in there regularly, I would always try and post something different each time, so as not to be repetitive. I also agree that it should either be taken down, or someone should be a mod in the forum, and "crack down" on the spam. And when I say that, I don't mean that people shouldn't be allowed to have a little fun when welcoming people, I mean they shouldn't be allowed to post spammy welcome posts that consist of nothing but "Welcome, read the rules, and watch out for so and so." Edit: You know, if I had about an hour more free time every day, I would be going through the Newbie Lounge and modding in there... There just aren't enough hours in the day... *sigh* As for ideas on things to replace the forum, should it be taken down, I have one that kind of combines the "My Otaku" idea, with a few of my own ideas. I'd put in an "Otaku Archive" forum, which could have the FAQ, rules, and stuff that would go in a My Otaku forum, and also have a sub-forum for the greatest threads and RPGs on OB. (They would be old, inactive threads, of course, which no one posts in anymore). That way, new members could come into the Otaku Archive forum, read the rules, FAQ, get info on various vB tags and such, and also take a look at examples of some of the best threads OB has to offer, which would serve as examples of high post quality and how to post intelligently, whereas the main part of the forum would tell what not to do, and how to do things. They'd get help on how to post, be shown what to post, and what not to post, all in one, concentrated area. So, anyway, those are my thoughts. If you want to argue with me, go ahead, I don't care, and I probably won't end up reading the arguements anyway. These are just my oppinions. :p

Gaming Who is your favorite pokemon in the game, and why?
Desbreko replied to Zanarkand Abes's topic in Noosphere
Bah. In Pokémon Yellow, Pikachu is stronger than other Pikachu! ...But yeah, I like Pikachu. My first Pokémon game was Pokémon Yellow Version, and I've loved those little electric mice ever since. :D I guess the reason I like them so much is because they're mice, they're cute, they're an electric type, and the one in Yellow and the cartoon has an attitude, heh. -
Gaming What is a good Final Fantasy site name?
Desbreko replied to Zanarkand Abes's topic in Noosphere
Well, you could always go with the name of a location from one of the games. If the site focuses mainly on one of the games in the series, pick a place from that game. Try to make it an uncommon name, though; a FFVII site named Midgar doesn't sound very good. On the other hand, naming it something like The Forgotten Capital (which is the City of the Ancients, by the way), sounds decent. As for original names, I can't help you there... I stink at thinking up names. :( -
Well, I actually leveled up a lot more the first time through than my second, heh. I didn't even try fighting it the second time through, because I knew that I was at a lower level that the first time, and I didn't have the level 2 spells yet, unlike the first time through. The first time through, I leveled up for a bit when I got to the Wall Market (those houses are great for getting new Limit Breaks when you first get there), and then before I left Kalm to go to the Chocobo Ranch. I stopped leveling about the time I got the level 2 spells, though.
