The first video game that I ever played was Duck Hunt on the NES. The first one that I beat, though, was Super Mario Kart on the SNES. Then I went on to beat Super Mario World on the SNES, and I can't remember what the next one was. Me and my brother almost beat Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES one time, but we had to stop around the start of World 8. :( So, I've played through almost the whole game, but never beat it. I'm still waiting for a remake of it on the GBA, so I can play through it again and finally beat it.

Yeah, the boss at the top of the Magic Tower casts Ultima on you as a finishing move. It doesn't hurt both of you, it's just a final attack that it does before it dies. Kind of like how Ultimate WEAPON in FFVII does Shadow Flare on you when it dies. The best way to defend against Ultima, when fighting that boss at the top of the Magic Tower in FFVI, is to cast Life3 on everyone, because most of the time it seemed like it would do 9999 damage against everyone... And I'm pretty sure Wall doesn't reflect it, because I remember you'd want to wear Wall Rings (automatically sets up Wall) all the way up the Tower, and I remember getting hit with Ultima. So, yeah, I don't think you can block it. (Oh, and if anyone is wondering, Life3 automatically revives you when you die. That's another spell I want to see brought back in FFXI, along with White and Cure4). As for summons, I haven't liked the direction that they've been going in since FFIV (and maybe FFV, I don't know how it was done in that one). In FFIV, you just called the summoned monster, and it attacked once... None of this thirteen hits in a row crap that makes almost everything in the game easy to beat, like Knights of the Round... It just makes it too easy. Actually, Ultima in FFVI was kind of that way, but to a lesser extent. Since everyone can learn magic, you could just have everyone constantly casting Ultima, except when you have to restore your MP. Where's the fun in that? I prefer to use the characters special attacks, like Sabin's Blitzes, instead of magic, most of the time. As for getting FFXI, I'm thinking that I probably will, if I have the money. Of course, I'll be getting it on the PC, so I won't have to buy a hard drive and network adapter in addition to the game, like I would with the PS2. :p

...Bowser was about to do the downward throw on Mario, wasn't he? *sigh* ...That just gets old way to fast to be amusing anymore... But, um, I told how I got them onto my PC in my second post in this thread... Semjaza Azazel told how you can do it, too. Pretty much, it just requires the right kind of video card for your PC.

She says "Link! I'll miss you!" But really, isn't it a bit cheap to ask for bits of dialogue? I mean, really, I could ask for bits of text that probably no one would ever get unless they actually went back and replayed the game. But anyway, on to my next question. Which Zelda game(s) have a gold colored cartridge, for at least the first shipment of cartridges? Edit: Yeah, OOT and MM are two of them, but there's more. Edit 2: Yeah, there's The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask... But that's not all... There's one more. :) Edit 3: Yes, it is! there's The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask. Go ahead and ask a question.

Heheh, you find it by dashing into the faerie statue in the Ice Rod cave, which is located on the north-east edge of Lake Hylia. I found that out a long time ago, when me and my brother were trying to find the last Heart Container Piece that we were missing. We went through the whole overworld, trying absolutely everything. :) Okay, gotta ask a question... How about, in Link's Awakening, what's the name of the mountain that the Wind Fish's egg is on?

How many people really do use the home keys?
Desbreko replied to MarkM's topic in General Discussion
Lol... I don't even know the correct position for your fingers, when typing... I just sat down in front of the computer, and started using it. Over time, I got faster and faster at typing, and I don't make all that many mistakes once I'm used to the keyboard that I'm using. I'm not exactly a fast typer, though I'm not slow, either. I think I'm doing pretty good, for not ever having taken a computer class or anything. -
Well, yeah, August 26 is a ways off... A whole dang month... But anymore, I'm pretty used to waiting for games. I'll make it, even if it involves some swearing and jumping up and down. :twitch: But yeah, I'd wait for the US version. Mainly because I like reading the subtitles more than listening to the voices, since the sound on my TV is pretty bad. Sometimes it can be hard to hear what's being said. That, and the instruction booklet and stuff would be in english, and I'd actually be able to read it. Well, I'd say 20, 25 hours for doing the bare minimum is a decent amount of time. No doubt, getting all of the Shines and other stuff will tack on a good amount more. I can't wait. ...Wait, didn't I just say I would be able to wait? Yeah, I'll be able to wait... Who am I kidding, I'm not gonna make it... Yes, I will, I just need to stay calm... *mind snaps* AAAAEEEEEEEIIIII!!!!! *jumps up and down while swearing* (See, what'd I tell ya?) :twitch: Okay, um, moving right along... Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if there's something extra of some sort for getting all the Shines, and whatever else there is to do. And yeah, hopefully it won't just be 99 (or was it 100?) lives and an extra little bounce thing on the end of your Triple Jump. I actually didn't like that, because it made it so you couldn't do a Wall Kick after doing the third jump. You could, however, bounce off lava with that little bounce when you land, which could come in handy... But I like the Wall Kick more... Oh, and James, two more subscriber only pics are on the way. :)

Lol... After explaining the whole thing about three times, I got sick of it and just wrote up what was what, and saved it. Now I'll usually just post that if anyone is confused. And yeah, Square announced awhile ago that they're going to remake FF Tactics for the GBA. Really, I'm hoping that they'll port/remake FFI through FFVI on the GBA. They could start with FFT, and then release FFI, then FFII, then FFIII, and so on until FFVI. That way, a lot more people would get to replay the classic FF games. I'm sure they'd do good, since tons of people own a GBA, and there are probably lots of people that haven't played the classic FF games, or would want to replay them.

In FFIV, White is the white magic equivalent of Nuke, I think. And Ultima doesn't hurt you in FFVI... But yes, White is pretty much like Pearl in FFVI, except that White is more powerful. Then Pearl turned into Holy, for the later FF games, which is pretty powerful. Oh, and FFIV also had Cure4! Restores more HP than a Cure3, and it only takes about as long as a Cure to cast! Of course, it takes a lot of MP, but it's worth it when you get hit with Meteo during the fight with the end boss. You're gonna want to get back a lot of HP very quickly after that, and there's no better way than with a Cure4! :toothy: Yeah, I also think it would have been better to call FFXI something else. FFXI seems more of a spin-off, like the Final Fantasy Legend series on the Game Boy, than a normal FF game. They could have called it... "Final Fantasy: Online Another World" lol. But yes, FFXII will be a one-player game.

Uh... what? I couldn't understand what you were saying, about the numbering... Maybe this will help people to get the numbering straight (see attachment). As for what FFII (the real FFII) is about, I don't know... If anyone here would know, it'd be Flash, since he's played it.
-
...I have read your post in that thread... It's just that FFII on the SNES is FFIV on the PSX, and FFIII on the SNES is FFVI on the PSX! FFIV and FFVI on the PSX aren't remakes, they're ports, and FFIV and FFVI are their real numbering. FFII and FFIII on the SNES were originally FFIV and FFVI, not the other way around. They were originally released in Japan as FFIV and FFVI, and then renamed to FFII and FFIII for the US releases. And yes, I know about FFII and FFIII on the SNES. I own FFIII on the SNES, and have played FFII on the SNES. They're just the US versions of FFIV and FFVI.

No, Rosa learns White (it's a spell, and it's the only attack white magic spell in the game). I'm pretty sure it's the last spell she learns. And yes, it's very powerful, especially against undead enemies since it's white magic. Rydia can use black and white magic, in addition to calling, when she's a kid, but when she grows up she loses the ability to cast white magic. However, she can then cast more black magic, and can call more monsters. Rydia's your black mage/caller and Rosa's your white mage.

No, the real FFII never came out in the US. FFII on the SNES is the US version of FFIV (it was named FFII in the US because the real FFII and FFIII weren't released in the US, so it was only the second FF game in the US). Take a look at the list of games I posted in this thread to see all of the FF games that have been released in the US, and to get the US/Japanese numbering straight.

Until I hear directly from Squaresoft that they are or are going to make sequels to FFX, I'm not going to believe it. That rumor has been going around for months, and I see no reason why it's any more believable now than when I first heard it.

When did I say I wasn't going to be back for awhile? Don't remember that... The reason I haven't posted in a bit is because my creative RPG juices seemed to have dried up... :twitch: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Link: Ugh... he sure does have a high-pitched scream... Link gets up and walks over to the other tent. He steps inside, and looks at Happy. Link: Okay, hand it over... Happy: ...But I drank it all last night... I think... Can't... quite... remember... Link: No, the other one. Happy looks about nervously, and then finally he pulls out a hidden flask and hands it to Link. Link unscrews the cap, and takes a swig. Karina: ...I thought you were going to get rid of it... Link: Well, I needed something to clear my mind after all that screaming. My ears are still ringing! Happy: Can I have it back now? Link: Only if you don't scream like that again. Happy: Deal! Link tosses the flask back to Happy, who hides it away in his tunic. Link: So... what are the plans for today, then?
Originally posted by Final_Flash Oh, and to everyone who hasn't already--GO AND PLAY THE ORIGINAL FINAL FANTASY NOW. I don't want y'all missing out on the real thing. The remake is just that--A remake. You'd better get a taste of the real thing first.
That's what I'd do, if I was going to play FFI. Nothing like firing up your old NES once in awhile! ...Oh course, you'd have to find a copy with a battery that isn't dead... Either that, or replace the battery, if you can find a replacement and the right type of screwdriver to open up the cartridge case. Hmm... that remake is sounding better and better... ;) I probably would still play the original, though. But before I play FFI, though, I'll probably play FFV.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel Everyone that started with 7, thinks the new ones are best. Everyone that started with the original 6, thinks those are best. That's what I have found anyway.
Most of the time, yes, it seems that way, but not in my case! I started with FFVII, then played FFIV (FFII on the SNES), then moved on to FFVI (FFIII on the SNES), and then FFIX. My favorite it FFVI, then FFIV, then FFVII, then FFIX. I'll probably get around to playing FFV pretty soon, and I'm betting it'll be up there with FFVI and FFIV on my list of favorites. 8- and 16-bit graphics can beat all those fancy polygons anyday! :p But anyway, I don't know anything about FFII and FFIII, since they were never released in the US... So, I wouldn't know what magic system is used in them... But for the games currently released in the US, FFV is the first to use the job system. (Of course, it was actually released in the US after FFT, but FFV was made first). In FFI you just picked a party of four characters at the start of the game, and you chose from six classes, and you couldn't change their class (though they do get a sort of class upgrade, such as the Fighter turning into the Knight). Oh, and Flash, Nuke is in FFIV. It's the most powerful black magic spell, short of Meteo (which takes so long to cast it's not worth it), in the game. And does FFI have White, eh? That happens to be my favorite spell in the whole series. :p But yeah, the idea of FFXX does sound kind of weird... I think that after FFXII, they should start a new series or something, with subtitles instead of numbers... Do something to make it so it's not so repetitive sounding. :twitch:

I WANT MY FIREBALLS, DANGIT!!! Why did they bother putting in Yoshi, if he doesn't have cool abilities?! Sure, he can eat enemies, but you can kill enemies without Yoshi, too... *sigh* ...I guess he does have some uses, but I really wanted to see a flying Yoshi in 3D, and other stuff like that from Super Mario World... Another thing I'm wondering about... What are those blue coins for? Right below where it shows how many Shines you have, there's blue coins, and then normal gold coins.

Hmm... Lets see... I'm actually having to think about this, lol. Okay, Lulu is the singer, Mikau plays the guitar, Japas plays the bass guitar, Tijo plays the drums, and Evan plays keyboard. And also, Toto is the manager. Okay, lets see, need a question... Okay, in A Link to the Past, which level sword does the same amount of damage as the Magic Hammer? Edit: Nope, it's not the Lv.2 sword.

Yeah, PrettygurlRei pretty much said it. It's because they only used one byte of space for the amount of Rupees that you can have, and you can only have 256 values with one byte. So, starting with 0 and counting up to 255, you'd get 256 different numbers. Hmm... I think it'd be best if people didn't post the answer until they have a question of their own, though, so as to keep the game moving. If you can't think of a hard one, just throw an easier one out there for now, and try and think of a hard one for the next time you get to post a question.

The way Sephiroth controls Cloud doesn't have anything to do with a Manipulate Materia. Sephiroth just have the power to influence his mind. And about what level Sephiroth is, it only ever says in the flashback. We don't know what level Sephiroth is at the start of the game, or at any other point in the game. And sometimes, in the flashback, Cloud will be killed. Sometimes the Dragon will use Flamethrower before Sepiroth attacks it. Both times I've played through, it's used Flamethrower on Cloud, killing him, and then Sephiroth used Life2 on Cloud to revive him. But anyway, the questions have been answered: Sephiroth is level 50 in the flashback, and no, he doesn't have a Manipulate Materia. This thread seems like it's heading rowards being spammy, so I'm closing it, since the questions have been answered and there's really nothing to add. Thread Closed

Actually, it didn't used to even be Bolt1, Bolt2, and Bolt3. It used to be Lit1, Lit2, and Lit3, back in FFIV and farther back (And Fire was Fir, since they only got four characters for the names, including the number). Not sure about FFV, though, since I've only played the very beginning. But yeah, maybe they will come up with some more names... Personally, though, I like the Bolt1, Bolt2, Bolt3 names, better than the Thunder, Thundara, and Thundaga... I dunno, they just sound kind of... stupid to me, I guess... Maybe it's just my love for the classics, though, I dunno. :twitch:
