[color=indigo]Welcome to my ever growing "Series Otaku" empire! Bwahahahahaha! ...... :shifty: ...... Um, you should probably just ignore that... :toothy: But anyway, welcome to the OB staff! Hope you enjoy being a Moderator! :)[/color]

[color=indigo]Ooooo! Must... have... Super... Mario... Sunhine! I have to say, the part that most jumped out at me was Yoshi's jump, where he kind of floats a bit by kicking is feet, or whatever it is that he does... Somehow, I didn't think they'd include that, for some reason... But anyway, it looks absolutely amazing! I'm also kind of wondering what that big Bowser-looking like thing was. It must be the same as in those pictures James posted, but I'm wondering where it came from and why it's there. Ah, well, I suppose all will be answered in... *counts* ...46 days... :toothy: I can't wait![/color]
-
[color=indigo]Yeah, I kinda figured it was because they're part of the game, but you can't hit them when you're old, either, when he doesn't have the game... Now I'm trying to think if there are any other indoor Cuccos in OOT... I'm pretty sure there are, but I can't think where. But in Majora's Mask, it's kind of funny to watch them fly right through a wall to get at you, lol. (When they start attacking you in a building). Don't stand near the walls.[/color]

[color=indigo]Nope, Super Mario Sunshine is coming out in August. The GCN Zelda is coming out sometime in February 2003.[/color]

[color=indigo]Well, as I mentioned before, Super Smash Bros. Melee is a great choice, for single- or multi-player fun. My friend has Eternal Darkness and he says it's really good, so you might look into that. [i]Star Wars[/i] Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II is good if you like flight sims... I dunno, though, it depends on what you like, I guess... There's a lot of good games out there to choose from, so it really just depends on what type of games you like. You could also look in [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=9955]this thread[/url] for more recommendations, since it's on the same subject.[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Why would you need two fire type attacks? Seems a waste to fill two move slots with attacks that are basically the same. For a fire type attack, I like Flamethrower; Fire Blast is just too inaccurate.[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Well, try taking a look at the second to last post in [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11622&pagenumber=2]this thread[/url]. It has the latest info that I know of. And for the monthly fee, Square hasn't said whether they'll have the fee in the US or not.[/color]

[color=indigo]Ooo! Mysterious! :toothy: But sure, if you ever want any subscriber-only stuff off there, just ask. And if any more do become available, I'll be sure and send them to you. :)[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Sure, which address should I send them to?[/color] [color=seagreen]Edit: Oh, wait a minute... That picture of the imposter was the only subscriber-only picture...[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Well, there might be a law other places, but my friend went out and bought Eternal Darkness about a week ago, and he's under 17. The ESRB ratings are just a suggestion, afterall, to help parents decide whether a game is suitable for their kids.[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Well, he said he got an extra controller, so that means he has two. Even with only two controllers, though, you can have a lot of fun with SSBM. Heck, I have lots of fun playing by myself and three CPU players in Vs. Mode. That's actually the way that I play most of the time, since I like having four characters fighting all at once, instead of the usual one-on-one in the 1P Mode. But yeah, it'll be a while yet before Super Mario Sunshine comes out (it's August 26, according to [url]www.nintendo.com[/url])... Of course, that'd give him time to save up for it...[/color]
-
[color=indigo]You know one thing about Super Mario Sunshine that I've been wondering about for awhile now? The Shine coin things... What exactly are they, and what are they for? Are they kind of like the Power Stars in Super Mario 64, or what?[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Actually, there's no law against kids buying M rated games, at least where I live. It's perfectly legal for me (being 14) to go and buy Eternal Darkness, or other M rated games, it's just that some stores won't sell M rated games to people under 17. But yeah, this actually has been discussed before, on a number of occasions... It is getting rather old...[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Yes, you did get quite a deal there... You might start thinking about what you're going to get next, also... Super Mario Sunshine will be coming out on August 26, though you might want to get an older game first, like SSB Melee, if you want multi-player. Or, you may want to get another controller, if you're going to be doing a lot of multi-player gaming. I definitely recommend SSB Melee. I've had it since Christmas, and I'm still playing it, trying to get that one last trophy (I need three more bonuses to get it! Argh!). Personally, I'd look into getting another game first, myself. There are certainly a decent amount of good ones out there to choose from.[/color]

[color=indigo]Heheheh... I've seen stuff like that picture before... Anymore I don't really get mad when I see something like that, I just laugh. Like ZeroG214 said, those people are just going to miss out on some really great games. It's their loss. But yes, you have to realize that Nintendo's games are almost always very successful. Now, if only kids got those games, they wouldn't do nearly as well as they do... So, to anyone that actually cares to think about it logically, it's quite obvious that Nintendo's games aren't just for kids; if they were, not as many people would buy them, and they wouldn't do as well as they do. Also, as mentioned before, the difficulty of a lot of Ninendo's games should tell people that they aren't just for kids. True, some of their games aren't all that difficult, but some of them can be dang hard. I also had a hard time getting all 120 Power Stars in Super Mario 64 the first time through. It seems like it's mainly people that refuse to listen to logic and play the game for themselves that think that Nintendo's games are all aimed at kids. Anyway, there's my thoughts on the subject...[/color]

[color=indigo]Yeah, that annoys me too... Actually, I remember thinking about having something like that in the original SSB... I thought it would be really cool if you could play a Vs. match, and then go back through frame by frame, and save the ones that you liked. Of course, that'd require a lot of RAM on the system, to be able to stick a whole match into memory, so it really couldn't be done... But it'd be really cool if they could do it... But yeah, I've also had some really cool shots in other modes, and then I'd get annoyed that I couldn't save them. One thing that annoys me about the Camera Mode, though, is that you don't get a totally free camera. I really wish they had made it so you could move the camera anywhere in the level, and on the other side of the characters, too, so you could circle around to get shots from any angle. I've had to just not take a few shots, because I couldn't get a decent angle. However, if I had been able to move the camera over around so I could be looking from the other direction, it would have been a great shot.[/color]
-
[color=indigo]*points at banner* I also love the Metal Link shot... Actually, that was me that was playing as Link for that shot, lol. My friend was controlling the camera and paused the game, so we could play around with the angle before he took the picture. He couldn't find a decent shot, so he let me try, and that's the best angle I could get. So I was playing as Link, and taking pictures of myself too, heheh. :twitch: But I got them onto my PC using a video card that has a TV tuner. My friend (the one that I mentioned in the first post) has one of those for his computer, and if he wants to play his GCN in his room, he just hooks it up to the video card. So, we would just go in and view the pictures full-screen in the game, and then do a screen capture on the PC. Then he burned a CD for me, with the pictures on it, and I uploaded them onto my little image storage site. And yes, my friend really did take those pictures that I mentioned at the end of the first post. I, however did take the "Ooo Soft!" picture, lol. Zelda was doing a rolling dodge (though it's not actually a roll for her), and Ganondorf just happened to be doing one of his light punches (tapping the A button)... And, yeah, I just happened to pause it right then... I actually didn't intend for it to come out like that, I thought I'd get a shot of Ganondorf punching Zelda right in the face, lol, but she just happened to dodge... And then I laughed my butt off looking at the picture... The "You're Coming With Me!" shot is actually in that same scene, too. Zelda is just coming out of her dodge, and Ganondorf is bringing his hand back, after the light punch. Also, some of these were taken by my brother, while I was playing as one of the characters. Such as the "Dangerous at Any Size" where I was Link, and a few others. Also, about the "Cornarian Skies" one... That was just filler, lol... We had three blocks left on the Memory Card 59 (I think it was three), and almost every shot took at least four blocks. So, we were messing around, and we found that.[/color]

[color=indigo]I do have to admit that I've been getting more and more excited about this game as the release date draws ever closer. It's not up to the point of making me scream/yell whenever I see new screen shots, like I did with Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but it's got me pretty dang excited nonetheless. :toothy: The rocket jump is news to me, though, I hadn't heard about it before. It sounds very interesting, and something that sounds very fun to play around with. Another thing that's got me excited is finally being able to ride Yoshi again! If there was one thing missing in Super Mario 64, it was the ability to ride Yoshi! Super Mario Sunshine lets you do this, and I'm very anxious to see how Yoshi performs in 3D. Also, if you subscribe to Nintendo Power, you get access to more art on [url]www.nintendo.com[/url] than normal. One of the subscriber only pictures is of the imposter, and it looks really cool: [img]http://images.nintendo.com/nintendo/contents/gamepage/gamecontent/images/m/mariosunshine_gcn_art10.jpg[/img] From that picture, we see that the imposter is clear, and it almost looks like it's made of water... This has left me wondering if the imposter is actually human, or if it's a monster...[/color]

[color=indigo]Well, I've finally managed to get my pictures from SSBM onto the 'net, so now all of you get to see my pictures! Since I have way too many to just use [img] tags, I'll just give links to them. They're all around 640x480, so they'll make good wallpaper, too! But anyway, here's the list: [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/BoxersOrBriefs.jpg]Boxers or Briefs?[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/CornarianSkies.jpg]Cornarian Skies[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/CuttingRoyInHalf.jpg]Cutting Roy in Half![/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/DangerousAtAnySize.jpg]Dangerous at Any Size[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/DarkSheik.jpg]Dark Sheik[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/DirtyHands.jpg]Dirty Hands[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/DuelOfTheFates1.jpg]Duel of the Fates 1[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/DuelOfTheFates2.jpg]Duel of the Fates 2[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/FlameRidinZelda.jpg]Flame Ridin' Zelda[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/FoxMcCloud.jpg]Fox McCloud[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/JustPeachy.jpg]Just Peachy[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/Kraid.jpg]Kraid[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/LetGoOfMe.jpg]Let Go of Me![/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/LinkFaceplant.jpg]Link Faceplant[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/LinksMasterSword.jpg]Link's Master Sword[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/LinksSpinAttack.jpg]Link's Spin Attack[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/Link.jpg]Link[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/Love-HateRelationship.jpg]Love/Hate Relationship[/URL] [URL=http://www.desbreko.netfirms.com/SSBMPictures/Pictures/MarioBrosDogpile1.jpg]Mario Bros. [color=indigo]Well, it kind of depends on the game, for mindless mayhem... I did sit around playing Gauntlet Legends for hours, just leveling my character up... :toothy: But yes, the level design has to be good for it to be fun to run around exploring and looking for secrets, and stuff like that. From what I've heard, though, there's going to be lots and lots of exploring, whch means the level design has got to be good in order to hold the player's attention. Also, I'm not too worried about there not being enough platform action... One of the face buttons [i]is[/i] assigned to jumping (I think it was B), afterall, so there's got to be enough to warrent making one of the face buttons jump. If there wasn't going to be a whole lot of jumping in the game, they probably would have made something like Z jump, and use the other face button for something more important.[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Well, I think Metroid Prime will be addicting because you get to go around and blow things to pieces, like in the first three Metroid games. Heck, I played Super Metroid for hours on end, just going around looking for secrets and generally trashing any enemies that I saw. So yeah, if Metroid Prime is like the first three games only in a first person view, it'll be addicting for me anyway.[/color]

[color=indigo]Fashion? What's that? Lol, my parents buy me clothes about two, three times a year (when I grow out of stuff, or I need new summer/winter clothes). I don't really care about fashion or brand names, I just get what I like. In the summer I wear light blue jean shorts and a t-shirt (preferably with a pocket), sometimes with my Hawaiian shirt over it, unbuttoned (it's blue with palm trees). In the winter I wear black jeans and a t-shirt (again, I like pockets), with either a sweatshirt or my flannel shirt over it. If I'm going outside, I wear my leather jacket over it (that my grandpa found for $5 at a yardsale), and if it's raining I'd like to wear my trench coat (that was handed down to me from my brother), but my mom won't let me wear it... Which sucks, because it would keep me a lot dryer than my leather jacket does... Oh yes, and I usually wear a hat if I'm going out. For the summer I have a light, cotton one, and in the winter I have a heavier wool felt one that helps keep my head dry. For shoes, I like boots for both summer and winter. Right now I have a good pair of steel-toed boots that I really like. Once I start buying my own clothes, there won't really be any difference. Right now I spend pretty much all of my money on video games, though.[/color]

[color=indigo]Well, unless you want them to, they won't. ;) On both the recievers and the controllers, there's a little dial that lets you set the channel that either the controller is sending or the reciever is recieving. So, obviously, you'd want to set both the controller and the reciever to the same channel. If you have more than one WaveBird, you simply set the second controller and reciever to a different channel than the first one. There are 16 different channels, so you can have up to four GCNs with four WaveBirds each and none of them will interfere with each other.[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Yes, there are certainly lots of addictive third party games. I'm sure Metroid Prime, which is being developed by Retro Studios (for the most part), will be plenty addictive. Where did you hear that Rare decided to go third party, though? From everything I've heard, neither Nintendo or Rare has confirmed or denied it.[/color]
-
[color=indigo]Ooooh, boy... Yes, Nintendo certainly does have a lot of games that you just can't seem to put down. (Don't get me wrong, I agree that other systems have games like that, but it seems like they just don't have as many). My first real experience with a Nintendo game was Super Mario Kart, on the SNES... And let me tell you, I played that game for [i]years![/i] (No, I'm not exaggerating, I literally played that game every day or almost every day for a couple years). Finally I started playing Super Mario World, and I played that through about five times, all together, plus I would just go back through and replay the levels after I had beaten the game... And of course, I was still playing Super Mario Kart at the time... :toothy: It was just this urge, that I [i]really[/i] wanted to play those games... I [i]had[/i] to play those games... I'd just start thinking about them, and then I'd have to go and play them. :twitch: This continued with other games, through the later days of the SNES and through the days of the N64 (oh man, don't even get me started on Super Smash Bros. ;)). Now it's extended to the days of the GCN, and especially the GBA, which is fast becoming my favorite system (SNES is still on top right now, but it'll be knocked down to second when the A Link to the Past remake for the GBA is released). This is the main reason that I prefer Nintendo's systems to other systems. Just because of the sheer number of games that scream "You will play this game!" It seems most of Nintendo's first party games are like this, and that's why I love Nintendo's first party games so much. Well, um, there's my rant for the day, I guess... But yes, Nintendo's systems do have lots of addictive games...[/color]
