1. I'm assuming Paul meant the Onix that you can trade for, in Violet City I think. I traded for it, and used it until I caught a Geodude. It worked very good in the Violet City Gym, for taking out all the flying type Pokémon.
2. Those laughs may be famous, but that doesn't mean they aren't annoying... Even Rufus didn't like Heidegger's laugh...
3. Yes, I know that adult oriented games don't have to contain blood and gore. That was just one example. That is sad... I mean, really, do they think graphics are that important? That sounds like a really stupid thing to do, in my oppinion. When the graphics can't really get any better, which seems like it's going to be soon, people will hopefully look at gameplay again. Now, I know everyone doesn't buy games for the graphics, but it seems like a lot of people do. If Sony focuses on graphics more than gameplay, I really can't see them doing very well in the future.
4. Flash: Well, I'd like to see this for myself... Drake sighed. Drake: Right... how fast can you run? Flash: Umm... I'm not sure... Why? Drake: Because we're gonna be going pretty dang fast. Drake raises his staff, and casts Haste on Flash and himself. He twirls his staff in his hands faster than the eye can see. Drake: Off we go! The pair starts running back towards the Outpost, moving faster than a galloping horse yet not actually running that fast. Flash grins at Drake, as they head down the path. Flash: Certainly makes traveling faster! But why are we running? Drake: Like I said, I want to do something about this quickly. This isn't something I'm going to let sit... A short ways before they get to the Outpost, the spell wears off. By that time, they're jogging along, and everything seems to become quiet. They both rest for a minute, out of breath. Flash: Hey... why's it so quiet? Drake: I noticed it too... The only thing to be heard is the wind and the birds high overhead... It's as if... Flash: Time has stopped... They both stare at each other, wondering what this could mean... Whether it could actually be possible, or if they're jumping to conclusions... Drake: It'd take a really high time mage to stop time in an area this big... Flash: It would explain why there'd barely be a trace at the Outpost. If everyone's stopped, then they couldn't put up much of a fight... It's a good thing you were camping a ways from the Outpost, whatever happened... Drake: Everything was normal where I was... It wasn't until I got into the Outpost that I noticed something was wrong... But wait, what about that trail of blood? If everyone was stopped, why would there be signs of a fight? Flash: Another time mage, perhaps? Maybe there was one there, and he tried to put up a fight? Drake: That's the only thing I can think of... But what about us? Why can we move freely about? Would it only stop the people that were in the area? Flash: And not affect other people that enter the area? ...Seems like it... But why would time continue to be stopped? Drake: ...I don't know... Anyway, lets get going again... They start off again, walking now, each with his own thoughts about the situation.
5. Actually, she didn't even name the cannon the Sister Ray... After you fly away from the Crater, when the WEAPONs awaken, you know how they're going to execute Tifa and Barret? And how Emerald WEAPON makes that hole in the execution room wall? Well, when you're escaping with Tifa along the barrel of the cannon, you see "Sister Ray" written on it. So really, it was always named the Sister Ray. But yeah, neither Scarlet or Heidegger really did much... They're really annoying, though...
6. I agree with Rico... I think the ESRB rating system is fine how it is... It seems that a lot of stores aren't selling M rated games to people under 17, just like people under 17 can't get into R rated movies. A parent can still go and buy the game for the kid, just like the parent can accompany the kid to an R rated movie... I think the rating system is doing it's job, since the parents will see the game and can decide whether or not they want their kid to have it. I really wouldn't mind if they made it so stores couldn't sell M rated games to kids under 17, even though I'm only 14 myself. So far, the only M rated game that I've been interested in is Perfect Dark.
7. Well, I can see why some people might not like the N64 because of the lack of third party support... But not because it has lots of "kiddie" games... Sure, it has some games aimed exclusively towards little kids, but all consoles do. Banjo-Kazooie, however, is not one of those games. What annoys me, is that some people just assume a game is aimed exclusively towards little kids simply because it's suitable for little kids. I mean, really, does a game have to be filled with blood and gore for older people to enjoy it? Absolutely not! Why do you think games like Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Super Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina of time, Zelda: Majora's Mask, and others sold so well? If only little kids bought those games, they certainly wouldn't have been nearly as succesful as they are.

Boss Help

It's your lucky day! :toothy: I just happen to have a boss strategy for Gyorg that I wrote awhile ago. Here it is: Boss Strategy - Gargantuan Masked Fish: Gyorg When you walk through the boss door, you'll see a hole in the floor. Jump down it, and you'll land on a round platform rising up out of a large round pool of water, all around the platform. After a short cinema, where the boss is revealed to be a giant fish, the fight begins. There are two ways to fight this boss. The first way is to stand on the center platform and either shoot arrows (as Link) or your fins (as Zora-Link) at Gyorg until you stun it. Then, while wearing the Zora Mask, jump into the water. Use the Zora Barrier (R Button) against Gyorg to hurt it. When Gyorg is no longer stunned, climb back up onto the platform and take off the Zora Mask (if you're using arrows). Repeat this process until you defeat Gyorg. When Gyorg is close to being defeated, it will start to spit little fish out of it?s mouth. If you run out of arrows, you can break the post around the edge of the platform to get more. Also, beware when Gyorg jumps out of the water and over the platform to attack. The second way to defeat Gyorg, is to jump in the water with it, while wearing the Zora Mask. Swim around and try to avoid getting eaten, and use the Zora Barrier against it whenever you can. If you swim into the side of Gyorg and keep using the Zora Barrier, you can score lots of hits! When Gyorg starts spitting out the little fish, you?ll be close to victory, but those little fish can also cause lots of damage. Be careful! Before you enter this fight, I highly recommend getting a bottle of Chateau Romani, so you have unlimited magic. You can get a bottle at the Milk Bar, after 10:00 PM, for 200 Rupees (if you have Romani?s Mask to get in, that is). If you can?t get a bottle of Chateau Romani, stock up with a few Blue Potions and a Fairy or two. If you do get a bottle of Chateau Romani, don?t bother with Blue Potions, just get Red Potions.
9.
Originally posted by Smoky Joe *The next sentence is from my first post* Unfortunately, we have yet to see more proof besides the statement and some mock ups for how the game should look. Seems like you missed a line in my post. IGN never said the pics were legit. They admited they created the pics so people would have an idea of how the game should look. Since there is no proof (except a site's word) in favor or agaisnt this, I'll just be hopeful, since this would not only be a treat to GC fans, but it will be another sign of Namco and Nintendo's new friendship.
Oh... okay... I didn't know that IGN had said they made the screen shots... But this still sounds pretty unlikely, even if Namco is developing the next all space shooter Star Fox game. Link just doesn't seem to fit in with the other characters...
10. Hmm... I'm sure that there's a way to lower it again... I really don't think they'd make it so you could get stuck and have to start all over again... You know how the room with the floor switches, the ones that control the water level, is split up into three sections with blocks? Can you push one of the blocks down, from the top-left section? If you can, it'd let you get to the red switch... Dang... can't really remember much of this dungeon... Sorry... Edit: Okay, I went and tried this, and it does work! Just go to the top-left section of the room, and there's a block that you can push down to gain access to the red switch. Oh, and I went and looked around in the dungeon, and now I'm familiar with it again! So if anyone needs help in Level 7: Jabu-Jabu's Belly, I'll be able to help.
11. Hmm... this is going to be kind of hard, since Flash is gone right now... I guess I'll just have to do without him for now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake paused for a second, looking into those two glowing yellow eyes. Finally, he extended his hand to grasp Flash's in a handshake, and forced a smile. Drake: Nice to meet you too... My name's Drake. Drake Desbreko... Flash: Something wrong? And why in such a hurry to get to Krysst? Drake: It's Outpost 31, off to the west. Everyone's just... gone... Flash: Just gone? What do you mean? Drake: They're just gone! I found a short trail of dried blood in a hallway in one of the buildings, like someone had been wounded, but when I went into the room that it led to no one was there. I checked the rest of the Outpost, and there wasn't a single living thing there besides me. Nothing was taken, except everything in that one room that the trail of blood led to; that room was completely empty. And there were no bodies, not a single trace of anything, except the blood and the empty room. Flash: That's quite disturbing... Drake: It's as if someone wanted something from that Outpost... Maybe information... that would explain the empty room. They took everything, because they weren't sure what they were after, perhaps? Flash: They? You think it was more than one person? Drake: I don't know, but I wouldn't think any one person could take out everyone there and barely leave a trace. Flash: Yes, that does sound like more than one person... Where did you come from, anyway? How did you find out about this? Drake: I had just come down to the Outpost yesterday, from Galthun City. I camped a little ways south of the Outpost, and when I went back for breakfast this morning I found everyone gone. Flash: You're a traveler, then? So am I... You know, it'd be nice to have someone with white magic around, and not have to rely on potions so much... Drake: And it'd be nice to have someone around that could help me with the monsters... You want to come with me, then? Flash: It'd be easier for both of us... Are you still going to Krysst? Drake: Well, we've got to do something about this mess... I figured I'd go to Krysst and tell the people there what's happened at Outpost 31... Unless you have a better idea, yeah, I'm going to Krysst.
12. Well, yes, I agree that the slow music when you're fighting Jenova-LIFE (Aeris' Theme, isn't it?) is good in that situation. But that's different from the example I gave. In Zelda games there really aren't many dramatic fights, though, so the boss music is usually fast and loud. It really depends on each individual situation, though. It all depends on the current setting in the game. Oh, and could you put a spoiler warning before giving away stuff like that? That's quite a plot twist that you could be revealing to someone that's just at the start of the game...
13. First off, I moved this to the Zelda Forum. Secondly, I don't think this is real. Why? Take a look at these pics: This is the CG character model for Link in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Notice how it's exactly the same as Link in the second screen shot that Smoky Joe posted. This is a screen shot of Link in that old tech demo for the GCN, that was shown at E3 2000, of Link and Ganondorf fighting. Notice how Link in this screen shot looks exactly the same as Link in the first screen shot that Smoky Joe posted, only reversed, like a mirror image. That's easy enough to do, and so is cutting a character out of a screen shot. I'm thinking someone just edited some screen shots, and put those pictures of Link in. Kind of like that hoax in EGM, when they said Sonic and Tails were in SSBM. They just took some other pictures of Sonic and Tails and pasted them into a screen shot.
14. Sorry I'm late, I've been gone for the past few days... But I'm back, and eager to help start off this RPG! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake woke up in the small clearing of bushes that he had found, just south of Outpost 31. He stood up and picked up his robe, which he had slept on, using the large hood as a pillow. After shaking the dust off, he puts it on, leaving the hood down. He then bends down to retrieve his Mithril Quarter Staff from where it was laying beside him while he slept, easily accessible from where he was laying. He shook his head, his long, light brown hair flying around his shoulders. Gathering it up, he took out a small, light brown, stretchy loop, which he simply called a "stretchy," from a pocket in his robe, with which he tied back his hair into a ponytail. Checking his dagger in his belt, he started off north towards the Outpost, hoping to find some breakfast. After walking for about five minutes, he reaches the edge of the Outpost, a tall wooden fence. Walking along it a short ways, he came to a gate, and took out a key ring from another pocket. Selecting a small, iron key, he inserted it into the lock and opened the gate, making sure to close and lock it after he went through. Drake, thinking: I sleep in till midmorning, and I still get up before these people... He walked down the street in between the few houses, to the cookhouse. He opened the door, and went into the kitchen, where he took out a frying pan and three eggs. Starting a fire on the stove, he put the pan on the grill over the fire. He got out a bowl and cracked the eggs into it, and then took out a wisk from a nearby drawer. He beat the eggs until they were ready to be cooked, and by that time the fire was hot enough to cook with. He started to cook the scrambled eggs, waiting for others to arrive. Drake, thinking: This is rather odd... Not even anyone here making breakfast... He took the cooked eggs out of the pan, putting them on a plate, and getting out a fork. He doused the fire in the stove, and then sat down to eat... A few minutes later, he got up and washed the dishes he had used, returning them to where he had found them. As he walked out, he flicked a gold coin onto the counter, for the eggs. Stepping outside, all is still and quiet. Not a sound to be heard, other than the birds overhead. He steps out into the street once again, and heads for the headquarters. Walking inside, he sees a trail of blood leading down the hallway to his left. Drake, thinking: What the hell? He raises his hood and walks down the hall to find out what the blood came from. The trail ends at a doorway, and he creeps cautiously up to the door. Opening it slowly, he peers inside, alert for any danger. Inside, he finds nothing. The room is completely empty, and there isn't a drop of blood to be found in the room. Drake casts Sense, to see if there's anything nearby... Nothing, not a single person dead or alive... Drake: This is not good... He quickly walks outside, and then checks the other buildings, finding them empty also. Finally he exits the Outpost by the gate which he entered through, and casts Sense once more, a little ways into the forest. Again, nothing. All is still, except for the wildlife in the forest. Drake, thinking: Not a thing taken, as far as I could tell... It wasn't thieves... Not a trace of anyone at all, except for that blood. I've got to tell someone. He sets off east towards Krysst, alert for any danger that might be lurking in the forest around him. He casts Haste on himself, wanting to get there as quick as possible, hoping that nothing has also happened in Krysst.
15. This is a favorite thread. Please don't post threads just asking what someones favorite _______ is, as it's rather pointless and against the rules. I suggest you read the rules for this forum, which are in the sticky thread at the top of the list of threads in this forum.
16. After deleting a bunch of posts, I would like to remind everyone that this is a HELP THREAD! This thread is for asking and answering questions about Pokémon Yellow, not talking about whether or not you'd like to have more than one Pikachu in Yellow...
17. I've always known that there were two 1/35 Soldier in Junon... You get two in Junon, and then you can get others from the Speed Square... They're not all that hard to find, if you care to look for items in all the houses and shops and places in Junon.
18. Well, I can say that I'm actually starting to want this game! When I first heard about it, I wasn't too thrilled about it. It did sound kind of like Resident Evil, though I quickly learned that it wasn't all that much like Resident Evil. The Sanity Meter sounds like it'll be very interesting, especially since it'll actually kind of mess with your mind, lol. This definitely sounds like one of those games that's best played in a dark room with surround sound. I'm thinking that I'll probably rent it when it comes out. Probably won't buy it, but it'll be worth a rental or two. I dunno, this just isn't exactly my type of game, I guess you could say.
19. Well, I think this is good. Personally, I don't want to have to buy another console in a few years. I want my GCN to last, like the SNES did. I think that, if anything, the amount of space on the GCN discs would limit Nintendo. The mini-DVDs can't hold as much as a full-size DVD, so developers may have to start using multiple discs on the GCN, while they only have to use one on other consoles. I really don't think Nintendo will have a problem with online gaming. The 56K Modem Adapter and Broadband Adapter are coming out this fall, and there is still that high-speed port on the bottom of the GCN. Nintendo hasn't said a thing about that, so they may still have something up their sleeve. Maybe they will actually end up making a hard drive for the GCN? I really don't think online gaming will a problem for the GCN at all. I've said it before many times: I don't care about how good the graphics in a game are, as long as I can tell what things are easily. Heck, I like the look of FFVI more than FFVII (sprites rule, lol). The graphics on the GCN are plenty good. I've heard it said that Super Mario Sunshine pretty much looks like it's just a little smoother than Super Mario 64, so it must not be that great... So what if it doesn't look a whole lot better?! I care about how the game plays not how good it looks. I don't know about other people, but I don't buy games so I can sit and stare at the pretty graphics... Actually, I care more about sound than graphics, lol. The quality of the music in a game is more important than the quality of the graphics, for me. The music sets the mood for the game, whereas the graphics just show what's going on. If I'm fighting a big boss in, say, a Zelda game, I don't want some slow, soft music playing. I want loud, strong music that'll actually make you almost frightened of the huge monster coming after you! As for the issue of franchises and originality, I think Nintendo is going in the right direction. I seem to remember a quote from someone at Nintendo, maybe Shigeru Miyamoto, saying that other game companies are always trying to establish franchises like the ones Nintendo has, while Nintendo is trying to get away from the old franchises and create new, original games like Pikmin. I think that new games in series like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid are great, but they can't be exactly the same thing as the last game in the series. If they are exactly the same, then they won't be all that fun. You might as well replay the old game, rather than spending the money for the new game. All three of Nintendo's main series seem to have had a twist. Zelda has its cel-shaded graphics, which allows for more gameplay possibilities, because the game doesn't have to be at all realistic. Also, it allows more emotion to be shown, as seen with Link's rather large eyes. Mario has the water pump, something new to the series that could and undoubtedly will add a lot of new gameplay aspects to the game. Metroid has the new first person view, which allows for all new sorts of gameplay with the different visors and other things that we probably don't even know about yet. My only concern is that Pokémon won't follow. There have been six games for the Game Boy now that all have basically the same story and gameplay. If it doesn't move on in the new GBA game, I'm afraid it's going to fall behind. I know I'm not going to buy it if it's basically the same as the previous games, regardless of how many new Pokémon are added.
20. Yes, there's a way to lower the water level. On the third floor, there's a room with three switches. Two are surrounded by blue floor tiles, and one by red tiles. The one surrounded by red will lower the water level.
21. No, there isn't a password for getting the Boomerang. Char's advice is good, though. Don't look at Link, just look at the Subrosian in the center. Just be glad you're not trying to do the Goron Dancing in Oracle of Ages... That's much harder, in my oppinion...
22. The first two Poes, Joelle (the red one) and Beth (the blue one) are in the paintings that hang in the staircases on the east and west sides of the room where you get the Fairy Bow. Joelle (the red one) is in the staircase to the west of the Fairy Bow room. I know this temple pretty well, and it's rather confusing. If you need more help, I'd be happy to assist you. :)
23. Yay, I'm finally back! Thanks for letting me be Link, this will be fun! Name: Link Age: 19 (I'm guessing this is set awhile before A Link to the Past, so I'm guessing he'd be around this age). Weapons: Master Sword - A sword that can shoot magical beams of energy when the users life is full. Mirror Shield - A shiny, magical shield that can deflect both magical and physical attacks. Bow & Silver Arrows - A long-range weapon, with magical arrows that are even stronger than the Master Sword. Magic Boomerang - A bright red Boomerang that flies very far before returning to the user. It can also pick up items and carry them back to the user. Bombs - Bombs that are round, black spheres with a wick coming out of the top. They can fit in the palm of your hand, but explode with tremendous force. Good or Bad: Good Appearance: See attachment, only with the Master Sworld and Mirror Shield instead of the Fighter's Sword and Fighter's Shield. Personallity: Confident and courageous, Link knows what he's doing. Having been on adventures and been in great danger many times before, so he keeps his cool even in the heat of battle. Sometimes he can be a little cocky, but he wouldn't do anything that would put his friends in danger.
24. I don't think we'll be seeing FFI, FFII, or FFIII on the GBA, although it'd be good to finally have FFII and FFIII released in the US... I think it'd be more likely that they'd remake FFIV, FFV, and FFVI on the GBA... I'll be happy with any Final Fantasy remakes on the GBA, though. I'd mainly want to see FFV remade, though, because I've never really played it much. I've heard it's a really good one, too.
25. Well, never having played either PSO or FFXI (it's not even out in the US), I can't really make a comparison between the two. I don't think you should say that PSO is better than FFXI, though, when FFXI isn't out yet. Wait till you play both PSO: Episode I & II and FFXI before you compare the two, because I think the only way to get a real idea of an online game is to play it yourself. I'm most likely going to be getting FFXI, and if PSO: Episode I & II desn't have a monthly fee I might get it, too. Until I play both of them, though, I'm not going to try and compare them to one another. I would like to learn more about the PSO games, though. From the little I've heard about the games, they sounded fun. If anyone could tell me about PSO, it'd be much appreciated. :)
