1. I have no idea why they named him Link... I don't think they've ever said... I might have to write Nintendo an e-mail asking that... But yeah, I suppose they wanted him to be different from the rest of the Kokiri. (I suppose he is actually Hylian, but you don't know that at the start of OOT). It never explained why he didn't have a Fairy, though, so that's another mystery to guess at. And Zelda never dies, not in any of the games anyway. There are theories about the timeline of the Zelda games and about there being two Princess Zeldas, which is in another thread. But Zelda never dies in any of the games.
2. That was complete spam. That was a one word, off topic, pointless post... Do not post anything like this again... Also, I think this thread has served it's purpose. zindane11's questions have been answered, and there really isn't anything to add. Thread Closed
3. What Nintendo magazine? Nintendo Power? If they're in Nintendo Power, then I'll believe you, but if it's in another magazine I'm still going to consider it a rumor... I've got the May issue (volume 156), though, and it doesn't have them in it... And I woudn't think that the June issue would already be out. And if you want to actually read the press release that said the new GCN Zelda will be about Link rescuing his sister, go here. It has a bit of information on Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda, Star Fox Adventures, and Metroid Prime. Look at the end of the part about Zelda to see it. This raises some questions, though... Most importantly, who is Link's sister? ...Could it actually be Zelda? I think not, but it might actually be... This has sure gotten my attention, though, and I'm now thinking very hard about what this could mean... Will this game be set in Hyrule? Has Ganon kidnapped Link's sister? Does this game involve the Triforce? Where in the timeline is this game set? ...Hopefully, we'll get the answers to these questions (and maybe more) when E3 starts... I really hope Link's sister doesn't turn out to be Zelda, though...
4. If he's played through Ocarina of Time, he should know that Ganondorf doesn't use a sword, though... Not in Ocarina of Time, anyway... But yeah, it might just be those tech demo shots, and someone that likes to start rumors. We can still hope, though, can't we? :toothy: ...... :twitch: UUUUUURRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!! It really pisses me off that people will be playing the new GCN Zelda in a few days, while I have to wait months! *mutters something about a plot to take over E3* ...Well, at least we'll get to see how they changed it from the last showing, and we'll get details about the gameplay... But still, that doesn't even come close to playing it yourself.
5. Okay, this is getting off-topic... If you want to know why girls like FFX so much, why don't you ask them? But that's not what this thread is about...
6. When you say the Q, do you mean the GameCube? The Panasonic "Q" is a GCN/DVD player that was only released in Japan. (There's a topic about it in the Nintendo Forum). In that other thread, you said it was a remake of Ocarina of Time, not Oracle of Seasons... Which is more reasonable, since Oracle of Seasons is for the GBC... Right now, though, it's just a rumor. I think that's it's very possible that they're remaking Ocarina of Time for the GCN, since it did so well on the N64, though. I'd buy it, especially if they added some new stuff, and improved graphics would also be nice. E3 isn't too far away, though, so we'll probably hear about it then, if it's true. I really hope it is, since I've wanted to replay Ocarina of Time for awhile now. (I haven't, though, because I'm already playing about three games all at once, two of which I haven't beaten before). And I don't think they'd remake Ocarina of Time with cel shaded graphics because it would probably be kind of hard. The game wasn't meant to have cel shaded graphics, and it could be difficult to make it look right with them. I'd be very interested in seeing those screen shots that you mentioned, though. Is there a site with them on it?
7. You're talking about Ocarina of Time, right? When you first enter the Gerudo Fortress area, just walk up and let one of the guards capture you. You'll be thrown into a cell, which has a window up high in the wall. Use your Hookshot/Longshot on the wooden beam over the window to drop onto the windowsill. From there, you can drop down and sneak into the Fortress. After this, you'll spend most of your time inside, or on the rooftops. You won't be on the ground much. Hope this helps, I'm not entirely sure where you're talking about. Is it the hill that has the huge gate at the top, which has a guard next to it? ...But anyway, the only way to get into the Fortress is to get captured first and then break out of the cell.
8. In Kokiri Forest in Ocarina of Time, some of the Kokiri wear pointy hats. They're not as long as Link's, but they're basically the same. So I'm thinking it's a Kokiri thing, and he just kept it after he left Kokiri Forest. ...Maybe he got a longer one, to stand out from the rest of the Kokiri... And, um, I'm not exactly sure what you're asking... It's kind of hard to understand... If you're wondering why they all have the name Zelda in the title, even the one that doesn't have Zelda in it, it's because it became the Zelda series. The first three Zelda games were mainly about rescuing Zelda (or waking her up, as in Zelda II), so the games became known as the Zelda series and every games' title after Zelda II started with "The Legend of Zelda" and then had a sub-title, such as "Ocarina of Time."
9. Yeah, drugs aren't good... They really will mess you up... But I think he might have meant for decoration, or something like that. I actually really like how the plants look. ...If it weren't a drug, I'd probably have one growing in a pot in my yard, if I could find one... I especially like the shape of the leaves, they look kind of cool.
10. Hmm... I'd plant a tree in it, but I'm trying to decide what kind of tree...... I think maybe some kind of maple, possibly... I've always liked maple trees... Infact, I'm growing one out in my back yard, in a pot. I transplanted it from the ground when it was about 1-1.5 inches tall, and then kept moving it into bigger and bigger pots (it's been about two years). ...Which reminds me, I need to move it to a bigger pot soon... I think it's about three feet tall now, or somewhere around there.
11. FFX has been out in the US for months now, and I haven't heard a thing about it coming to the GCN... I know that FF Tactics is being remade for the GBA, Square actually announced that... But I haven't heard any official announcements saying that either FFX or FFXI is coming to the GCN. Um... you do realize that FFIV, FFV, and FFVI are old Super NES games, right? That means 2D sprites, so there'd be no difference in graphics between the PS1 and PS2, except for the few CG scenes that they added. And they're probably just using the same CG scenes from the FF Anthology and FF Chronicles that came out in the US... So it still probably wouldn't matter...
12. Yes, and I'm most certainly not following you around, Ravenstorture... :shifty: (look here) I can relate to that... I was really depressed on my 13th birthday, too... I think it was because I was really worried about my future, about what I'd do with my life, and so on. Part of it I think was the hormones and all that crap going on, but not all of it. (I started getting depressed even before I turned 12, though). I'd like to say that it'll get better soon, but it most likely won't. Infact, life seems to just be sucking more and more, as time goes on, for me... But that's probably not what you wanted to hear, I bet... The way I deal with it, is my hobbies. I play video games, I read, and other stuff (such as this very board). If you don't already have a hobby, find something you like doing. I think my hobbies (especially the video games) have been the only thing that have kept me sane, for the past year or so... If I didn't have something to fill my free time... well, I'm not exactly sure what would become of me...
13. I did, actually, after I got Pokémon Stadium and was able to save all my old Pokémon. I played until I got to Cinnabar Island, and then got bored (I had new games to play by then). The next thing I had to do was go through the Pokémon Mansion, and get the key to the Cinnabar Gym. ...I keep thinking I'll start playing it again and beat it, and get another set of Legendary Birds, but I seem to have too many games as it is... Right now I'm playing SSB Melee, Final Fantasy VII, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and Zelda: Oracle of Ages. (I need to find someone that's good at the Goron Dancing, to do it for me, though, because I simply connot do that type of stuff where you have to memorize things quickly. I dunno why, but I've never been able to do that sort of thing). ...But yeah, I already more games than I have time for, and then I have other things to do on top of those (such as this board). And sorry if I came off as a little touchy, but I will never use a GameShark... Not and save it afterwards, anyway... I might try one out just to have a little fun in some games, but I don't like to use cheats to get past things in games.
14. No, FFX is not on the GCN (although I really wish it was)... And FF Anthology and FF Chronicles were both for the PS1 in the US, so I'm assuming that the remakes will be on the PS1 over in the UK, also. But, you can play PS1 games on the PS2, so why does it matter? Also, I read in EGM that Microsoft has or is going to soon release a smaller Xbox controller. I guess it's supposed to be like the Japanese controller, and it has a more standard button layout. It had a picture, and the four main buttons were in the standard cross-shape, like on the SNES, PS1, and PS2 controllers.
15. I think he meant that it would be about $500 all together. Like, after you import it, have it modded, and then add shipping costs... And on that site, it says it costs $499 with it already modded... If you aren't going to be playing games or CDs/DVDs from outside the country you live in, I think it'd still be better just to get a normal GCN and DVD player separately. Figure $200 for the GCN, and then maybe $150 for the DVD player, which adds up to $350 plus tax (this is for in the US, anyway). So yeah, if you're not going to be playing foreign games/CDs/DVDs, it's still not worth it. (At least not in the US, I don't know about other countries).
16. Personally, I wouldn't want a handheld system to use CDs/DVDs... If it's handheld, that means you're going to be carrying your games around, and carrying your games around leads to scratches on the disc... That, and memory cards on a handheld would be a pain, because that's one more thing to carry around with the system. ...Unless all the games used passwords... But that would be more of a pain, because you'd have to write them down, and then carry a piece of paper with you, instead of a memory card... I think they should just stick with cartridges for handheld systems. Even if they can't hold as much, it's still worth it because they're easier to deal with.
17. Eh? They don't have repair info for different countries? I checked www.nintendo.com.au, and I couldn't find any information on getting a GCN repaired... I was sure they had information for different countries in the costomer service section, though...
18. Again, this is just a list of upcoming games... There really isn't anything to say, other than "Wow, that's cool!" ...which is spam. If you have information on a game other than "it's coming out," that would be great. But like I said earlier, it's very easy for people to go and see what games will be coming out... There really isn't much point to just posting a list, because it doesn't actually give any information on the games. If you had posted information about the games there'd be something to talk about, but as it is, there really isn't anything to talk about. Sure, we know that a game will be coming out, but without any information all we can do is guess about what it'll be like. Thread Closed
19. This is spam... People can easily find out what games will be coming out soon on sites such as www.nintendo.com, and others; we don't need people just posting up lists of upcoming games. If you want to talk about new games, that's fine, but please don't just post up lists. Also, no GCN game is going to cost $100... The suggested retail price for most GCN games is $50, at least in the US. I haven't seen any for more than that, and I don't think people would buy it if it cost more than $50. (Unless it came with an accessory that's required to play the game, or something like that, maybe). Thread Closed
20.
Originally posted by Dragon Warrior Well, all have different opinions. Maybe just a few dungeons would work for me.
They did just that, with Majora's Mask on the Nintendo 64. There are only four main dungeons, with a couple optional sub-dungeons. The main part of the game seemed to be the side-quests, and focused on helping the townspeople. You know what, though? Majora's Mask didn't do as well as Ocarina of Time did... So, I'm expecting the standard eight dungeons in the GCN Zelda game that's coming out this fall... As for the GB/GBC Zelda games, all three of them did very well, so I don't think we'll be seeing much of a change anytime soon. It's been shown that people like the dungeons, since people just keep buying the games, so they probably don't see any need to drastically change the basic layout of the game. If they make another Zelda game for the GBA with the same basic layout as the three GB/GBC Zelda games (with the standard eight dungeons), and it doesn't do very well, then I think there'd be a good chance of the dungeon layout getting changed. Until something like that happens, though, I don't think the dungeon layout will change too much. Change is good, since you don't just want the same basic game over and over, but I think they've found a good formula and are sticking with it. I can't blame them, though, since the games are doing so well. If people buy them how they are now, then there's not really any reason to change them. I think that as long as they get a decently different storyline, most people won't mind the same dungeon layout over again.
21. Actually, one of my friends has the PC version of Risk and I've played that. I'm guessing it's the same as the PlayStation version. It is nice not to have to roll the dice, but sometimes I like rolling them. Just having the numbers come up on the screen doesn't seem as real as actual dice... Or something like that... For the most part, I prefer dice, except when I'm tired and don't want to bother with all the pieces and stuff. But the PC version is cool because you can play online with your friend(s), without him/her having to come over to your house or you coming over to his/her house. So I like PC version more, overall, because of the online play.
22. Download it, and then change the file extension to .bmp instead of .txt. That worked for me. Well, the graphics look pretty good for the GBA. Nice a sharp, good quality. It looked pretty much like your standard Mega Man game, with the side-scrolling levels. Nice bright colors, too, which should make it easy to see on the GBA screen, also. (Although I've never had a problem with it being too dark, other people apparently have). Edit: Yeesh! An hour?! Dang, now I remember just how slow a 56K modem is... I remember downloading a 10MB video clip from Zelda: Majora's Mask with my old 56K, and it taking a few hours... I think I played Solitaire while I waited, LOL. ...I feel your pain... :cross:
23. I'd have to say Risk... Fights have never actually broken out, but there've been some good arguments... Especially when you make an allience with another person, only to break it two turns later and take over half their territories, LOL. That is stabbing someone in the back. Ironically enough, Risk happens to be my favorite board game. I actually enjoy watching the other players squirm as I try to decide whether or not to break an alliance with them, LOL. Then I watch as they get mad when I do break the alliance, and I storm through their territories, taking them over one by one until they only have a few left... Of course, someone else then proceeds to sweep in and take over a bunch of my newly acquired territories from the back, since you always seem to have to leave a bunch with only one army in it... And so the process begins anew, and repeats over and over, until finally someone can't keep up anymore and they lose. It always gets interesting when you get down to two people, and the tide just surges back and forth, with neither player able to hold on to a bunch of territories for more than a turn, LOL. But yeah, that's my oppinion about Risk... Such a fun game, yet always seems to be taken more seriously than it should...
24. No, I did not use a GameShark! I had lent the game to one of my friends, and he beat it, even though I had told him NOT TO BEAT IT OR SAVE THE GAME! It really pissed me off, but there wasn't much I could do... He also cought the three Legendary Birds, and Mewtwo, so I never got the chance to catch them myself. I did beat it with my original team, though, after I leveled them up a bit, so I did beat them without Legendary Pokémon. The first time I used Mewtwo and the three Legendary Birds, though, because I wanted to see how strong they were. So yeah, I did beat it with my original team after leveling up enough so that I could get past Lance... I just beat them with the Legendary Pokémon first... I'm still wishing that I hadn't lent the game to my friend, because I really wanted to catch the Legendary Pokémon myself.
25. Well, I know that if you turn off the game at the right time while trading, there'll be one of the Pokémon on both games... But, you risk deleting your saved game when you do this, because you're turning off the game while it's transfering data from one to the other. There might be other ways of duplicating Pokémon, but I don't know of them. Personally (as you should know, imcuneo), I won't even try and duplicate Pokémon. I didn't even want to use the missingno glitch to get my team up to level 100, but both my friends did, so I also had to, if I wanted to stand a chance when I battled them. Using Legendary Pokémon in your team is not cheating. I think you're confusing cheating with being cheap. Using a GameShark, or the missingno glitch, or duplicating Pokémon is cheating; something that can't/shouldn't happen normally in your game. Being cheap would be getting six Mewtwos from playing through the game six times, and then using them all together in the same team. That's not cheating, because you got the six Mewtwos legitimately; you didn't use a glitch, such as that duplication trick I mentioned above, so you technically didn't cheat. It's really cheap, but it's not cheating. So when you say using Mewtwo and other Legendary Pokémon in your team is cheating, I think you mean that it's cheap. If you cought the Pokémon legitimately, without using duplication glitches or other things like that, then it's not cheating. Cheating and being cheap are often confused, and I think that's what has happened here.
