Hmmm... like Castlevania, eh? How about the next Castlevania game that's coming out in awhile? LOL, but until that comes out, I suggest Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2. I think it's the best game out for the GBA, but I haven't played Castlevania yet (I think I might have to get the next one when it comes out). Super Mario World isn't too much like Castlevania, but it's a platformer. I don't think I've ever talked to someone that didn't like it; everyone seems to like it either on the SNES or GBA. I also consider Super Mario World to be the best Mario game out. It can be hard the first few times through (especially the Valley Fortress... I must have died around 20 times trying to beat it the first time). Even after playing through it around 5 times on the SNES, I still played through it another 3 times on the GBA before getting tired of it again. The game has a lot of replay value. I find it fun to just go back and replay old levels that I've already beaten. Even after mastering the whole game, I still find it fun to just pick up and play once in awhile. I highly doubt that you'll be disappointed with this game, if you get it. Yes, the characters do look kind of like Paper Mario characters... But that's because it was originally a SNES game... So the characters are going to look a little flat... It's kind hard to make a sprite look 3D. You just have to remember that people were blown away by the graphics when it first came out on the SNES, all the way back in 1991. Back then, multiple scrolling backgrounds were a big thing, and also the transparency effects, and Mode 7 Scaling and Rotation... Back then, the SNES was a revolutionary piece of hardware, when it came to video game consoles.

Well, I think I read that the suggested retail price for a GCN over there was £130. But, the stores can charge what they want, so they may have been charging more than the suggested retail price, and then decided to bring it down. But yeah, in the US the system by itself costs $200, and PS2 and X-box are both $300. So yeah, it's not much of a surprise that you can get the system, a game, and an extra controller for less than the price of the PS2 or the X-box. You can get that in the US, too. The system, game, and extra controller comes out to about $285 all total. And sometimes you can find the controllers for a bit cheaper than $35, and now some games are dropping down even to $30, from $50.

I think DK64 on the PlayStation or PlayStation 2 would be hard just because you'd have to use the analog stick (eight directions wouldn't be enough for a game like that), which is pretty awkward, I think. The analog stick placements on the controllers are to far towards the center, for a controller that shape/size. I end up having to stretch my thumb way over to be able to reach it, or hold the controller funny so that it hurts my hand after awhile... Either way, it's uncomfortable for me... It would suit the SNES/GB Donkey Kong games fine, though, since the PS1/PS2 controller is pretty much just an up-graded SNES controller. They pretty much just added another R and L botton, analog sticks (in the case of the Dual Shock controllers on the PS1), a rumble feature (again, on the Dual Shocks), and handle things... But, it probably doesn't matter, because I don't think Rare actually owns the rights to Donkey Kong. I don't think Nintendo would give up one of their big franchises... It just wouldn't be a very bright thing to do...

The reason why those screen shots from Spaceworld 2001 are so low quality is because Nintendo didn't release the screen shots. People had to take videos of the screen that was playing the movie of it, and then take screen shots from that. That's why the graphics appear to be really low quality. (Miyamoto actually asked for people not to take video or screen shots, but people did anyway, apparently). Just now there were some new ones that came out... I've only seen one, though, and that was also pretty low quality. I think that maybe it's for kind of the same reason as the Spaceworld 2001 pictures. I read an interview with Miyamoto, and he actually said that they weren't going to show anything until E3 2002... So I'm thinking that those new screen shots were perhaps leaked... And that's why they're low quality. I dunno, though, it's just an idea. But yeah, it won't be long until we get good quality pics/video from E3. Some lucky people will actually get to play it too... I'm so dang jealous; I'd give just about anything to be able to play it!

Yes, I suppose Link's Uncle could have died... The Triforce grants the wishes of the person that touches it, but I don't know if it has the power to bring someone back to life. Possibly, since it never says anything very specific about the Triforce's powers. All it says it that it grants the wishes of the person that touches it, and never anything else... Nintendo should publish a book about the history of Zelda; then maybe some of these questions could be answered... Oh, and DanC (imcuneo)... That post was complete spam... Didn't you read the rules when you signed up? I remember telling you to read them, and I remember you agreeing to read them... But anyway, I'm going to have to talk to you about spam the next time I see you...

This post was edited by someone, and it had a lot more content than this. Jeez, a few days on the job and I already messed up bigtime... -Nerdsy Hmm... that's not good... You've changed your password since then, right? At least Moderators can't ban people, then it might have been a lot worse than just a couple posts... Still, I'd change my password if I were you, and turn off the cookies setting if you're on the boards using a public computer (like at a library, or a school). Anyway, I'll just sum up what I had said in this post. 1. If you're not mature enough to be able to tell a video game from reality (like, going out and shooting someone because they just come back in a video game), then you shouldn't be playing video games. 2. Just adding more Pokémon and stuff isn't going to make me buy the GBA Pokémon game. If it's the same story, then you might as well just replay one of the older games. It'll be pretty much the same, just without as many Pokémon and a couple other things that don't really change the game very much.
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig Er, I'm 17 and I live in the norther part of California...I like it up here, except for the crowded life and the constant risk of rain on december through April. You live over on the coast, then? What city? Since no one has guessed, I'm from Chico. (And it's getting into "white t-shirt season" at Chico State (the party college), heheh. :toothy: I love this city). The summers here get nice and hot! It's weird, after a couple months of really hot weather, I hate it... But then when it starts cooling down, I start wishing it would get hot again... I guess I'm just crazy. ;)

Dangit, I wish I had chapter 2 done... But I haven't had time to work on it for awhile, because of school, FFVII, the boards here... *sigh* There's just not enough time in the day. I'll try and work on it tommarrow, and see if I can't get it done. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake: Yeah, I wasn't just expecting some guy in a suit. I'd think a president would be able to defend himself... Anyway, follow me. It's a little ways away, but not too far. Drake leads Satoru and Denki down the alley, back the way they came. Drake: We'll probably want to keep off the streets... So I guess we'll take the back way. Before they get back onto the main street that the parade was on, Drake leads them down a turn-off. After a few turns, and a few minutes of walking, they come to an old, rusted, metal door in the back of an old, brick building. Satoru: That's quite a back door you've got there... Is that moss? Drake: Either that, or mold... I try not to touch anything but the doornob. He takes a keyring with a few keys on it out from a pocket, and unlocks the door. They walk into the back room of the weapons shop. Satoru: You have a shop? Drake: No, I just live above it. There's an apartment upstairs, but the owner lives someplace better. So, he rents the apartment upstairs to me. He leads them up a staircase, and he unlocks the door to the apartment. There's an old, worn couch against one wall, and a small TV sitting on low table against the opposite wall. Drake: There's not a whole lot in the way of food, but there should be stuff for some sandwiches or something... Go ahead and look through the cupboards... At this, Denki walks into the small kitchen to look for something to eat. Satoru: Are you going to call someone, then? To find out more information? Drake: Yes, I'm going to call Claire, if you remember her. She was the leader of the group. Satoru: Yes, I thanked her too, when the group got back. You, her, and-- Drake: Anyway, I'll be in the bedroom... And don't try to sneak off... These walls are so thin I'll be able to hear you open the door... Satoru: Not a very high quality apartment, eh? Drake walks into the bedroom, and closes the door. On a small dresser by the bed sits a telephone. He picks it up, and dials the old bases number. Claire: Hello? Drake: Hi, it's Drake. Claire: Hello! How's it going? Drake: Well, I found the President... Claire: That certainly was fast! Drake: Yeah, I got pretty lucky. Turns out he was in Junon, that's where I am now. Claire: So what's wrong? Drake: He seems to have a very convincing story... And I trust him more than the rest of Shinra... Bottom line, I need information. Claire: About what? Weren't you briefed? Drake: Yeah, but if he's telling the truth, it's not what Shinra is making it out to be. He says he's been framed. Drake tells Claire everything that has happened since his arival at Junon. Claire: I see... And you want me to try and find out if he's telling the truth? Drake: Well, yeah. Claire: Will I get some of the money if he isn't? Drake: Umm... yeah, I suppose... Claire: Right, I'll find out what I can... It seems a little bit of hacking is in order, heheh... I'll call you tommarrow around 2:00 PM, and tell you what I've found out. Drake: Heh, good luck with the hacking. And thanks, it's nice to be able to get some help when I need it. Claire: I told you, I'm here if you ever need help... Drake: Okay, thanks... Bye. Claire: Goodbye. Drake hangs up the phone, and walks back into the front room. Satoru and Denki are sitting on the couch, eating some sandwiches that they made. Satoru: Find out anything? Drake: No, but she's going to call back tommarrow and tell me anything she finds out. Until then, I guess you can stay here... Satoru: The shopkeeper won't mind? Drake: No, he doesn't care as long as it doesn't damage the building, or effect him. Satoru: I think it'd effect him if I was found here. Drake: That's exactly why we're not going to get caught...

How many posts is it to get the "No Life" rank, then? 3000? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake got up from the crate and started pacing back and forth in the alley. Drake: Yes, they did seem to want to get rid of you pretty bad... And quickly, too... Satoru: Yes, I suspected as much... So, who's in charge now, with me gone? Drake: Don't know, they didn't tell us much except about the job. Satoru: I see... Tell me, do you trust Shinra? Drake: ............ Satoru: Yes, I thought as much. So really, believing me is more a matter of what you know of me, than anything else. Drake: You seemed like a nice enough guy when I met you five years ago... I had thought Shinra was changing from what I've heard it was... Satoru: There are always those that seek to control others, it seems... Drake: So, what you're saying is that Shinra hasn't changed? Satoru: Apperantly not, at least as much as I'd thought it had... It appears that there is still some corruption. Drake: I'll believe that, at any rate... Satoru: So, have you made your decision? Drake: Not sure, yet... Think you'd be willing to come back to my appartment for awhile? You'd have some protection for the time, at any rate... And there are quite a few people after you... Satoru: Wouldn't let your catch get taken by someone else, eh? Drake: In a manner of speaking, yes, I suppose. I'd like to see if I can't get some more information about this whole thing...

Mmmmmm... Malon... (I have an obsession, like Sephiroth with Tifa, heheheh). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake plunged down into the cool, clear water. Quickly regaining his senses, he starts to swim up towards the surface again... But something is wrong, he doesn't seem to be moving at all... He strungles to swim faster, and he would indeed have been swimming quite fast, in any normal pool. Still, he wasn't moving at all. Then, much to Drake's surprise and horror, he actually starts to move backwards... And starts to feel a current pulling him down... A current that he cannot see. The water still appeared to be as calm as it had ever been. Drake: (thinking) I'm going to drown... Drake starts to get tired, and he starts slipping towards the bottom of the pool faster and faster. Finally, he can't hold his breath any longer, and he starts to faint... The current takes him, and everything goes black... The last thing he remembers is thinking that he's going to die... If he had not been underwater, a single tear would have fallen from his eye... Drake: (thinking) This is the end... I'm going to die...... Drake suddenly realizes that he's aware of something... He slowly regains consciousness, and realizes that he's laying on his back, on soft, dry ground. Drake: (thinking) Where am I? Am I dead? ...Is that a voice? Drake seems to hear a voice, as if far away... As if through a great fog... ????: You're going to be all right! What a relief! Anyone know where this quote is from? Anyone at all? And it is from a Zelda game... kind of... Drake slowly opens his eyes... And stares into the eyes of a beautiful, Hylian woman... Drake: Who... are you?... ????: My name is Zelda... The Queen of Hyrule. Drake: Huh? ...But... I fell into the pool... I was drowning... Where am I? Zelda: You're in Hyrule Castle... You're going to be fine. Just relax, don't try to get up yet... Drake turns his head this way and that, looking around. He is in a large, dirt-floored room, with trees, and bushes, and other plants growing in it. He looks up to the ceiling, and sees a huge stained-glass window, which takes up most of the roof. It is a picture of Link pulling the Master Sword from the Pedestal of Time, with the three Spiritual Stones around him. It provides light for the trees and plants, but not much is shining through at the moment. The storm is raging on, even here, just the same as in the Lost Woods. He notices a large, round pool of water next to him. Around it are nine torches, made into three triangles of three torches each, in a triangle around the pool. The torches are providing most of the light around him. Zelda: Please lie still... I'll go get a doctor... Zelda stands up from kneeling over Drake, and walks out of the room, via a large archway in front of the pool. He notices that there is a path of bricks leading from the entrance to the edge of the pool. A couple minutes later, people come and put Drake on a stretcher. They carry him through room after room, until he is finally lifted off the stretcher and onto a bed. Then the people leave and he is left alone for a couple minutes. He looks around this new room, and sees a window of the wall to his left, and a torch off in the corner to his right. A doorway is on the wall to his right, in the middle of the wall. There is a small table at the left side of the bed, and a chair on the right side. A plant off in the left corner of the room. Drake notices that it's a fern from the Lost Woods. This brings a faint smile to his face. In a couple minutes, Zelda and a doctor walk in through the door. The doctor examines Drake, to make sure there isn't any serious hurt. Doctor: He'll be fine, he just needs a bit of rest. He should be back on his feet in a few hours. Zelda: Thank you, doctor. The doctor leaves, and Zelda sits down in the chair next to the bed. Zelda: Do you feel well enough to talk for a bit? Drake: Yes, I'm just a bit tired... Where's my Fairy, Tari? Zelda: Oh, yes, I had forgotten. Just a moment... Zelda walks out of the room and comes back in momentarily, with Tari flying by her side. Tari flies down and lands on the bedpost next to the chair, and Zelda sits back down. Tari: I'm glad to see you're finally awake! You had me worried! Drake: I'm okay now... Just a bit tired and light-headed...... But how exactly did I get here? Zelda: You went into a pool in the Lost Woods, you said, correct? Drake: Yes, it was a very strange pool. The water never seemed to move much, even when I fell in. And the wind seemed to be calm around its surface. Tari: I knew it wasn't an ordinary pool... Zelda: Yes, it's not an ordinary pool. It was built around the time Hyrule Castle was rebuilt, after Link defeated Ganon... It's a warp, linked to the pool you saw in that room. Drake: Like the one Link used to warp to Zora's River?! Zelda: Yes, like that one. She smiles, remembering the first time she met Link, in that courtyard in the old Hyrule Castle, while she was watching Ganondorf through a window. Zelda: But tell me, how did you get down to the bottom of the pool, down to the warp? Do you have a Silver Scale? Drake: No, I don't. When I fell in, I started getting sucked down, by some invisible current. I remember not being able to hold my breath any longer, and then... And then everything went black, and I woke up here... Zelda: That's quite alarming... Nothing like this has ever happened before, on either end... Perhaps you were meant to come here, for some reason? Drake: What do you mean? Zelda: No doubt you've noticed this strange storm... It's not natural... Tari: Yeah, it's been keping us stuck indoors almost all the time! Zelda: Yes, it has indeed. No one likes going out in a storm... But perhaps... perhaps you may play a part in stopping it? Drake: What?! Me? Is that what you meant when you said that maybe I was meant to come here? Zelda: Yes, that is indeed what I meant... In two days, there is going to be a meeting of the different people of Hyrule. We are going to discuss this weather, and what may be causing it. I think you should attend it. Drake: Okay, but I don't know what I could possibly do... Zelda: I'm sure Link had his doubts, when he first started out... You may yet have a part to play, but only time shall tell... Drake's eyes are starting to get heavy, and Zelda can tell that he's tired. Drake: Is Link... here? Zelda: Yes, Link is in the Castle... But rest now, I can tell you're tired. Sleep, and regain your strength. You may need it... Zelda gets up from te chair, and exits the room... Drake closes his eyes, and drifts slowly off into a deep, peaceful sleep...

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I remember Beta as a kind of vertical, whirling tunnel of fire. With the center the narrowest, and the top and bottom really wide. Kinda like that, anyway... Like I said, it's been awhile. I think I'm going to have to go see if I'm strong enough to beat a Midgar Zolom and get it. My party is around level 35, so I think I should be able to beat one. It would be handy, because then Barret would have a good fire spell other than Fire 2. It's been getting a bit weak, for the bosses, and Fire 3 is a ways off.

I don't know... I'd say that the PlayStation hasn't really hurt Nintendo's sales, just decreased them some... Final Fantasy moving to the PlayStation had to have some effect on Nintendo 64 sales. That, and most of the Mega Man games... And yeah, Sony probably would have gone ahead with the PlayStation as we know it today... But probably not for awhile... They'd most likely still be making games for the CD add-on, for awhile. Maybe after the Nintendo was out, they would have gone ahead with it, but probably not much before that. I think it would have been better if they had gone ahead with it, but I guess we'll never really know... But anyway, this is getting off topic a bit... Back onto Bomberman... I'd look at Electronics Boutique, if there's one in your town. I'm pretty sure they have used games. Also, maybe video rental places, they sometimes have used games for sale...

Yeah, I know I should make the first move... But it was late when I wrote that last post (4:00 AM) and I was really tired... If I had kept writing, I would've stepped around the corner and you'd have your clown-nose on, and the two of you would pose as down-on-their-luck clowns who stole Shinra uniforms so that they could be in a parade again... And it would go downhill from there... See why I didn't keep writing? :cross: (To prevent the insanity from leaking through, by the way). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake checked his Materia, and made sure everything was secure... And then dashed around the corner, hoping to take them by surprise. They bolt away down the alley as soon as Drake is around the corner, though, and Drake is forced to continue persuit once more. Drake: (under breath) Damn, he can run fast... I wouldn't have expected it from a president... They dash on, heading into more populated areas. Drake has got to stop them from getting to the airport somehow, or they'll lose him amoung the crowds of people. Drake: (thinking) Crap, the airport is just around the next turn... Reaching down to his belt, he pulls off one of his hand grenades, pulls the pin out, and throws it as hard as he can. It lands just in front of the President and the man with him. Satoru: Stop! Down the turn-off! They leap aside, into a turn-off to the left, just in time to avoid the blast. Drake follows, breathing a sigh of relief. Drake: (thinking) Damn... now where are we heading? Drake skids to a halt, in front of the pair... They've reached a dead end... The President turns around to face Drake. Drake: Been a long time, Satoru... Satoru: Indeed it has... Denki: You know this guy? Satoru: Yes, about 5 years ago Shinra hired the mercenary group he was in... Without him, the mission would have failed... I personally thanked you, didn't I? Drake: Yes, I remember... Satoru: Seems Shinra has hired you again, eh? Drake, isn't it? Drake: Yes, that's right. Paying decent money this time, too... Satoru: Uh huh... Did they tell you why I'm wanted? Drake: Yes, they told us... And I have one question... Why'd you do it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There... think you can talk your way out of it? Get me to believe your story? Maybe even help you? ...Or am I gonna have to try and capture you? It all depends on what you say, now... (Am I getting a little too into this story? :toothy: )

I don't know about Nintendo's biggest mistake, but I think that even if they had gone through with it and it did hurt SNES sales, it wouldn't have been as bad as the PlayStation... The PS1 and PS2 have no doubt hurt Nintendo's sales a lot more than the SNES add-on could have... That, and Square most likely would have stuck with Nintendo.
-
It probably actually was one of Nintendo's biggest mistakes... Another being when they pulled out of that deal with Sony for the Super NES CD add-on... But yeah, two cartridges would be too expensive, and you'd also need one of the Controller Paks to save your game on. I personally prefer cartridges to CDs/DVDs... I guess I just think that having to use a memory card is a pain, and that you don't have to worry about scratching a cartridge... But, they're expensive (which makes the games themselves more expensive) and CDs/DVDs can hold more on them... So I don't mind too much... I just have a hard time picturing Zelda on one of those mini-DVDs. It just seems wrong to me, for some reason... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My 1111 post! Jackpot! (It's a bonus in Super Smash Bros. and SSB Melee, heheh)...

Zelda theme! Zelda theme! If you do Final Fantasy skin, there's gotta be a Zelda skin too! MUST HAVE ZELDA! But, out of those colors, I'd have to say watermelon, for green... But I'd want it a dark green, not a light green. About as dark as the purple is on this skin, I think. Put that with black, and it'd look really good. Maybe swap the blue for green, and the purple for black. I think that'd be cool.

I'm in a weird mood, and this is a weird topic... Go figure... :box: Do any of you sing, hum, whatever, in the shower? If so, what do you sing, or whatever? I like humming my favorite video game tunes, usually from Zelda (big surprise, LOL), Final Fantasy, or songs that are in Super Smash Bros. or SSB Melee. Nothin' like humming the Song of Storms with water raining down on you, eh? :toothy:

No Life? Well, I didn't do it... I don't have a "save changes" button on the admin control panel... Shouldn't I have one though, James? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake catches a glimpse of the President's face, as he turns ever so slightly to look back at Drake. Drake: (thinking) Hmm... it appears that I've been discovered... And I've discovered the very person I'm looking for, too, it seems...... But who's that other person he's with, I wonder? He sees the two start marching a little quicker, into the group of other soldiers. Drake speeds up accordingly, so as to keep up. He starts walking alongside the parade now, to try and keep in sight of the pair. Drake: (thinking) Dang it, it looks like this is going to get a lot harder now... He starts walking faster, and faster... Suddenly, he loses sight of them, and then can't find them again... Drake: Crap! Where'd they go?! He looks around, and just sees them as they duck down an alley heading towards the airport. Drake: (thinking) Not bad, almost gave me the slip... He heads down the alley, looking over his shoulder to make sure no one is also following him. He starts jogging, fearing that they'll lose him. Pretty soon, he stops abruptly as he hears the President's voice... Satoru: I think we lost him... I don't think he saw us go down this alley... Drake edges up to the corner, around which are the Predident and the other strange man with him... Drake grips his rocket launcher tight, and gets ready to turn the corner...

The Nintendo 64? But... it's dead... I don't think Rare is making anymore N64 games, or anyone else, for that matter...... But, I do hope that they stay second party...
-
Yeah, I've noticed that too. Infact, I fought the Materia Keeper just... *looks at clock* ...Okay, so it was yesterday... But only about 5 hours ago...... Anyway, yeah, it seems like some enemies have attacks like that when you beat on 'em enough. Like Emerald WEAPON with Aire-Tam Storm, Ultimate WEAPON with Shadow Flare (another Enemy Skill), and Safer Sephiroth with Super Nova. But that does sound like a weird glitch... I've never seen anything like that happen before, and I've fought quite a few Midgar Zoloms...
Originally posted by Char-Char,Mander-Char! I think the whole joining team rocket thing would be the coolest though. However, it would probably shift from children's entertainment.
Yeah, it probably wouldn't be considered as much of a kids game. It'd probably be rated T, or something... But yeah, that'd be a fun twist on the Pokémon series. I think it'd be really fun. Maybe we should all write letters to Nintendo, bugging them to make it, LOL...
-
I think it'd be neat if, one day, I was rich enough to have that done... I think I'd like having a pet Vulpix... And the was science is heading, they'd probably be able to do it, not too far into the future... At least make something that looks like a Vulpix... It wouldn't actually be able to breath fire, of course...
-
Well, this certainly is disappointing news... Rare has always made great games (even if they do get delayed a lot), and I just hope they release all of their games on the GCN, as well as other system. And yeah, it's hard to imagine playing Perfect Dark on the PS2 or X-box... Mainly because of the great GCN controller. Those two analog sticks would be really nice, for looking around and stuff. That, and just the general button layout would be better than the other controllers, for first person shooters, I think... You still can't beat a keyboard and mouse, though...

Do you mean you're stuck in Yoll Graveyard itself, or do you mean you're stuck in Level 1, Spirit's Grave?
