As for actual shows coming out, I may catch the Slayers one if I can without either spoiling the other series or confusing myself too much. Any word on that?
As of ep2, you won't have anything spoiled but you may end up slightly confused. In setting up a continuation of the story from the first three series they kind of have to reference them in Revolution, but people unfamiliar with the series obviously won't know what they're talking about. In particular, you will probably be left wondering why Gourry doesn't have a decent sword anymore?though that looks like it might be explained in the next episode. However, Lina is still Lina and she hasn't changed much from the very first episode. And, judging by the first two episodes, Revolution will still be entertaining even if you don't know the back story.

I was planning on making this thread after watching some more of the new series airing this season but you beat me to it. :o The list below will be updated as my opinions form for each show.
100
Favorites Slayers Revolution Any Slayers fan should be going crazy over this. (And if you're not a Slayers fan, WTF is wrong with you?) It's got better art, animation, and music while still retaining the character designs, atmosphere, and seiyuu from the first three TV series. Newcomers to Slayers might be a little lost at first but, if Revolution is like the past three series, it will probably stand alone decently; they did subtly re-introduce the main cast in the first episode for those not familiar with them. Zero no Tsukaima ~Princess no Rondo~ This is the third season of Zero no Tsukaima and it picks up right where the second left off. Ep1 was more of the usual hijinks along with the introduction of a new plot device. I find the series pretty hilarious (and Louise is second only to Hiiragi Kagami for my favorite tsundere girl) but there's not much point in watching this unless you've seen the first two seasons. Hidamari Sketch × 365 I can't figure out if this is going to be a sequel or a prequel to the first Hidamari Sketch. Ep1 showed Yuno (the main character) moving into the Hidamari Apartments, which happened before the beginning of the first season. But with Hidamari Sketch and its love for skipping around in time that might not mean much. At any rate, ep1 was funny and the animation looked smoother than the first season. Anyone who likes Pani Poni Dash! or Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (they're all directed by Shinbo Akiyuki) needs to check out this under-appreciated series.
100
Good Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~ First off, let me say that this show is absolutely beautiful. This is the sort of detail I'd expect to see in a feature-length movie. I hope it continues through the entire series. Anyway, the series is being produced by Hal Film Maker, which brought us Aria and Sketchbook ~full color'S~, and Natsu no Sora looks like another slow and relaxing show. It's even got the same seiyuu voicing the main character as in Sketchbook—both of whom happen to be named Sora, funnily enough. I liked the first episode and I'm looking forward to seeing more. Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu I don't care if it's horribly clichéd, I still enjoy watching smart, rich, lady-like, yet clumsy and easily frightened anime girls be their moe selves. And this show adds yet another moe point: She's secretly an otaku! This would totally be a guilty pleasure if I had any shame left. Also: Dancing maids in the ED. Koihime Musou Apparently this is an adaption of an eroge, which was loosely based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Though, for such a series, the fan service levels were relatively low. The first episode was funny and cute and featured girls fighting with large spears so what's not to like? And OMG was that a Marimite reference?!
100
Mediocre Antique Bakery The first episode was somewhat amusing but didn't grab my attention. But I can see the possibility of it picking up and getting good so I'll give it a few more episodes at least. Ep2 improved my opinion of this series; throwing more characters into the mix made things a lot more interesting. It looks like it should at least be worth watching. World Destruction ~Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin~ I might rate this one higher if it weren't having to compete with both Slayers and Zero no Tsukaima for my fantasy/comedy love this season. It's based on a game, it's weird and funky, it has what looks like a teddy bear mercenary, and it's about destroying the world. That's awesome. Or at least I hope it will be; the first episode was so-so.
100
Lame Strike Witches Okay, so I get that the Strike Witches wear bloomers so that they can wear the propeller things on their legs. But why are the normal middle school uniforms the same way?! It's got the sailor uniform shirt as usual and simply omits the skirt. Seriously, WTF? Anyway, if you don't enjoy watching lolis flying through the sky with large guns, blasting the **** out of aliens, and/or the [strike]upskirt[/strike] noskirt fan service that goes along with it then there's no reason to watch this. I found the first two episodes slightly amusing (because of the first reason >_>) but we'll see how long it takes to get stale. [strike]Chocolate Underground[/strike] [dropped] This is an ONA (original net animation) with episodes that are only a few minutes long. It's about the black market trading of chocolate in a country that's banned everything but health food, apparently. I picked it up based on the sheer absurdity of that premise but the first three episodes have been pretty lame and I'm going to drop it if it doesn't get better.

ZOMGYES Slayers Revolution ep1 was everything I could've hoped for. It's classic Slayers but with the art, animation, and music all nicely improved. They've even got what sounded like remastered tracks from the original TV series in there. Go watch this, people; it's freaking awesome.

All three of Square Enix's Final Fantasy SNES-to-GBA ports were better than their SNES originals (FFIV is debatable but only against the Japanese hard-type version), and FFIII on the DS is one of the best examples of improving a game in pretty much every way while still keeping the core gameplay intact, so I'm not worried about CT. Though I've played the game twice on the SNES so I'm not sure if I'll buy it on the DS. I guess it depends on how much extra content they add.

The DailyOtaku iss.7Sunday, June 29, 2008 OB Vigilantes Enforce Tough Love This morning the OtakuBoards staff woke up to a surprise, finding a bruised and unconscious Gavin tied, gagged and handcuffed to a lamp post outside the OtakuBoards Staff forum gates. On his back was taped an unmarked manila envelope which staff say contained incriminating evidence tying him to the underground movement NAPS?the anti-Noob Alliance for Purging the System. Violence against new members rose sharply in recent months and has been attributed to this organization, which seeks to remove so-called noobs from OtakuBoards and seize control of the administration. Until now NAPS's members had remained elusive, striking in an instant and then fading seamlessly into the site's regular member base before staff could react. Site Director James issued a statement today saying that Gavin's detainment should strike a blow to NAPS, as he appears to have been one of the organization's ringleaders, but that members should continue to be watchful. James did not comment on how Gavin ended up in front of the staff forum; the Lounge, however, was abuzz with rumors. Sabrina reported seeing two figures moving swiftly through the shadows in the direction of Gavin's residence near the Theater as she departed late last night from James's production, The Von Braun Odyssey. "They looked suspicious," she said, "but I wasn't going to follow them." Others recalled seeing Gavin's residence vandalized the day before with the silhouette of a house enclosed in the outline of a heart, drawn in red lipstick across the front door. Odder still, many in that area reported being woken up in the night by the B-52's song Love Shack blaring out across the forum. "I think a pair of superheroes have appeared on OtakuBoards," Aceburner said when asked about the incidents. "Wait, hear me out. Everybody knew Gavin was up to something but the mods couldn't prove it. I think a couple members took matters into their own hands." Could there really be masked heroes fighting back against the evil organization NAPS? Many members have already accepted the theory. Allamorph even built his own signal, a la the Bat-Signal, based on the mark drawn on Gavin's door. "I call it the Love Shack Signal," he said, but wouldn't comment on whether it was a personal project or supported by staff funds. Superhero expert Shy, who ran the popular event The Legionnaires, remains unconvinced. "It doesn't add up," he said. "A guy can't just put on tights and stroll into a high security place like Gavin's. He's not into that kind of thing." Certainly, it would be difficult for any member to break in but not impossible for staff. Everybody had one answer for who on the staff could be the Love Birds, as members have come to call the supposed superheroes. "If you're looking for a couple on the staff it has to be SunfallE and Rachmaninoff," said Raiha. "They're on top each other as much as they are the spam." No senior staff would comment on this speculation, though Indi laughed uncontrollably for three minutes when asked. The staff are still investigating these events and have not yet issued any statements regarding the Love Birds. But, however it happened, the removal of a high ranking NAPS member is sure to make the threads of OtakuBoards safer.

No, moderators can't read other people's PMs. People can, however, forward offensive PMs to moderators if they're being harassed or something and it will be dealt with. And yes, they can. But that's why us admins are here; we moderate the moderators. Of course, if the admins abuse their power then you're just screwed. :catgirl:

How do you change your Otaku Background image?
Desbreko replied to WickedDreams's topic in Help & Feedback
Are you sure the "Use Customizations Below" box on the Worlds Editor design page is checked? Make sure it is and then try re-uploading the image. If it still doesn't show up after that, try pushing Ctrl+F5 while viewing the World. (This reloads the page entirely from the server instead of using cached images.)
