He's kind of like me, only different... As weird as it sounds, that's the best I've been able to describe him...

Oh man, that was one of the funniest parts in the entire game! I ended up going on the date with Aeris, I think, but it turned out pretty much like you said. It still makes me laugh!

Right, I wrote some more, and decided to make the first chapter longer, so I'm attaching it to this post. I'll post up the next chapter when I get it done (I'm currently in the process of writing it). I recommend reading it, and then this post. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake heads for the old Sector 3 train station. He buys a ticket and boards a train heading for Shinra HQ, up on the plate. He sits down, and remembers the last time he rode a train to Shinra HQ. That was a long time ago, of at least it seemed like it. Really, it was only about four years. The thought of the Materia in his pouch came to mind... He quickly dismissed the thought, though, and tried to concentrate on the present. Suddenly, he realized that he had left his knife at the old house where Claire now lived, alone. He reaching into his trench coat, and he feels a knife, though. Drake: (thinking) What the? But I know I accidently left it in my old room... He feels the handle sticking out of the sheeth some more. He starts chuckling to himself. Drake: (thinking) Well I'll be darned... I left my knife and took my old one without even noticing! I suppose I should be happy, it's a step up in quality. This puts Drake in a somewhat better mood for the time, and he starts thinking about this new job that he just took. Drake: (thinking) Well, it's certainly been awhile since I've taken a job... At least a year, I'd say. It'll also be nice to be traveling again, more than just between Junon and Midgar every now and then. The train pulls up to the station, and Drake gets off. He walks the short distance to Shinra HQ, and walks in the door. He walks up to the receptionists desk, and she looks up at him from some paperwork. Receptionist: Yes, can I help you? Drake: Yes, I'm here to see about a job that I took from Claire, about finding the president. Receptionist: Oh, you're a mercenary then? Okay, just a minute. She waves to a couple of nearby Shinra soldiers, and they walk over. Receptionist: Would you take this man up to the briefing room, on the 71st floor? He's interested in looking for the president. The soldiers salute, and escort Drake to an elevator. Drake: (thinking) 71st, eh? I remember that number... That's the floor that-- Soldier: This way, sir. The soldiers lead him down the hallway to the right, and show him the door to the briefing room. Soldier: This is it, sir. Drake: Thank you. Drake opens the door and walks in. He sees that other mercenaries have also heard about the job, and have come before him. Mike: Oh, hello. We were just about to start the briefing. My name is Mike. If you'll take a seat, we'll begin. Drake sits down in one of the many chairs in the room. He looks around to see if he knows and of the other mercenaries, but he doesn't recognize anyone. Mike tells about the presidents arrest, and all that has happened since then, up to his escape from Corel Prison. Mike: Well, that's it. The one that brings in President Satoru alive, will be paid 250,000 Gil. You will also recieve 2,000 Gil up front, to help cover expenses. Everyone walks up to the desk that Mike is sitting at, one by one. Mike hands out the 2,000 Gil to each person, until Drake, the last in line, walks up. Mike: I believe that you already got the 2,000 from Claire, right? Drake: Yes, I did. Mike: Hey, an honest mercenary... I'm surprised you didn't say no, to try and get an extra 2,000. Drake: I bet you have records of me accepting the 2,000 from Claire, right? Mike: A smart one, too, eh? You're right, she called earlier today. You should get going. The planes leave in a few minutes, for Junon. Drake: Yeah, you're right... Drake walks out the door and follows the rest of the people back to the elevators in the middle of the hallway. He gets in one, and they ride down to the first floor. They exit through a back door, into a parking ot. From there, they are taken in vans to the nearby military airport. Just before they board the planes, a man steps up in front of the group of people. Man: These planes will take you to Junon. From there, you will have the option to go wherever you want. They board the small passenger planes, and take off. Awhile later, they land at the Junon airport. They get off of the planes, and then most of the group leaves to get transport to other places. Drake, however, decides to stay in town for a bit. He tells the people arranging transport for the group that he's going to stay in town for a bit, and then he might leave. NPC: Sure, that's fine. You'll still get free transport to anywhere, even if you want to stick around for a bit. Just come back and show us this. The person hands Drake a slip of paper, and he puts it in a pocket. Drake: Alright, I'll probably be back in a couple days. He leaves the airport, and walks to his little apartment above a weapons shop. He walks into the shop, and the shopkeeper greets him. Shopkeeper: Well, if it isn't Drake! I haven't seen you for awhile. Drake: I rook a little trip, and ended taking a detour. I'll probably be leaving in a few days again, too. Shopkeeper: Okay, whatever. As long as I keep getting the rent money, right? Heheheheheh... Drake: Ah crap, it's due, isn't it? Shopkeeper: Indeed it is. Drake: Okay, here. Drake hands him 1,000 Gil. Drake: Well, so much for covering expenses... Shopkeeper: Eh? What's that? Drake: Nevermind, I'm just muttering to myself... He walks up the stairs in the back of the shop, and unlocks the foor to his appartment. If it could be described in one word, it would be small. It consisted of a front room, with a small kitchen in what was practically an alcove, a small bedroom, and an even smaller bathroom that was so small that there was varely room for the sink, toilet, and shower. He walked into the bedroom and tossed hid stuff on his bed. He then went into the bathroom and took a shower. After getting dressed again, he laid down on his bed and slept for awhile. It had been a stressful day, and he was tired. He still hadn't recovered from riding all night, all the way from the Chocobo Ranch to Kalm.

I'd probably spend it like any of my other birthdays... I'd get together with my friends, and do whatever we happen to feel like doing at the time. I really don't think it'd include any drinking, though. It probably would include suger highs and lots and lots of video games and movies. :twitch:
Originally posted by SSJ Gotenks ok I dont think gta3 is coming for the gcb i think its too much for the gcb compare gta3 with some of the games gcb has(example:lugi mansion, super smash bros. these are more like kid games can u really picture gta for the game cube.:therock:
If you have a hard time picturing GTAIII on the GCN, then I guess you're not going to take Resident Evil very well... Since Capcom moved the series exclusively to the GCN... That, and Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime, 007: Agent Under Fire, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, and others, are all on or coming to the GCN. If you look at the games that the GCN has now, and has coming, you can see that all of the games aren't "kids games." And besides, just because a game doesn't have blood, gore, and violence doesn't mean it's a kids game. Ask anyone if Super Mario 64 is a kids game, and I bet everyone you ask will say no it wasn't. Sure, it's suitable for kids, but that doesn't make it any worse of a game. It makes it better, in my oppinion. If you can widen the audience without diminishing the fun of the game, I say go for it. I guess you just have to ask yourself "Does blood, gore, and violence make a game better?" Okay, now that I'm done ranting, I can get back on topic. :D I think it's great that GTAIII is coming to the GCN. It sounds like a fun game, but I don't think I'd want to but it... There's too much violence for my tastes... But still, that's just me. It's a popular game, and if it's ported to the GCN, it'll be even more popular. And the GCN will too, and I think both of those are good things.

Okay, I think I will put aside my preference for Link, and try to take a look at the facts about the two characters. And by the way, I'm an expert on the Zelda series and I've read all three books in The Lord of the Rings. I'm also currently reading the books again, and I just finished The Two Towers. Just so you know, I know what I'm talking about. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Link has magic, yes. This does give him a big advantage, since he can make himself invincible for awhile using Nayru's Love. However, he doesn't have unlimited magic, so he wouldn't be able to use Nayru's Love for a long time. Legolas could run away, during that time. I don't think he would have much trouble getting away from Link, since Link has all that stuff to carry, while Legolas only has a bow and arrows, and a knife. On the other hand, Link also has a bow, and he could shoot Legolas while he's running. Legolas is fast, though, and could probably dodge Link's arrows. Link has the advantage in close combat, having a sword and shield, so obviously Legolas isn't going to try and fight him up close. He's going to try to stay away, and use his bow. Link may not be able to run very fast, but it's been shown that he's good at dodging, as seen in Ocarina of Time with the Z Targeting. He can left left/right very quickly, roll forward, backflip, and duck, all very quickly. Also, he has a shield. Link could most likely dodge or block Legolas's arrows. I don't think the rest of Link's items would help him very much, since he's got his sword for close range combat, and his bow is his best weapon for long range combat. And Legolas isn't going to try and fight Link, who has a sword, with his knife. It seems that both of them have long range weapons, but they could probably both dodge the arrows. It seems that they are about equal when it comes to long range fighting. Link has a sword and shield, and is good at close range combat. Legolas has a knife, which would be very effective against a sword and shield. Link has the advantage of close range combat. Link has magic, but if he can't get close to Legolas, it's not going to do him much good. Legolas has the advantage of speed. They both just wear a tunic or light shirt, neither of them really wear much armor. So neither of them have an advantage of better defense. When it comes down to it, when they both run out of arrows, they'd have to fight in close. And Link has the advantage up close. This doesn't mean Link would win no matter what, though. Legolas is still pretty good with that knife. Still, it would be unlikely that Legolas would be able to win a close combat fight. His knife may be a long one, but it's not as long as a sword. I won't even bring the Triforce into this... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you can see, I've put considerable thought into this post. I've presented some facts, and assumptions, and they lean in Links favor. And you know what? I bet that this won't change the mind of anyone who thinks that Legolas would win. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, I'm just presenting some facts and a few guesses based on those facts. You're free to believe whatever you want, whether you think Legolas or Link would win. Personally, I think Link would. But, that's to be expected, since I love the Zelda series so much. What I said above is probably also a bit biased, since I'm the one saying it. But, I can't really help that. I hope that everyone realizes just how silly this whole argument is, since they're both fictional characters... So, there's no way that you'd be able to find out who would win. It just depends on your personal preference.

There's a lot in this post that isn't explained, but my character is kind of mysterious, right? He will be after you read this post, anyway. I'm currently writing up the story of the "job" that's talked about in this post, and I've got the first chapter done. I didn't want to post it up yet, because I might not be able to write more in it for a bit, and the first chapter doesn't really tell anything about the "job." Hopefully I'll be able to finish it soon. It's pretty good so far, I think. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drake woke up at 9:00 AM, and he stood up, stretching. He yawned, and then looked out the small window in his room. His room... Almost everything in the room belonged to Drake, though he had forgotten most of it. He looked around, noticing things from the past, now coated in a layer of dust that was so think you could hardly tell what some of the stuff was. Ho looked around some more, and noticed a small knife in its sheath, near the bedside. Drake: Just as paranoid then, as I am now... Heheheh... Claire: Being paranoid kept you alive... Drake: Huh? Silently, Claire had opened the door, and now stood in the doorway. Drake turns, and looks at her. Drake: I left in a hurry, didn't I? Didn't even take my knife... He picks up the knife, and unsheathes it. The blade is still as sharp as the day he left it. He twirls it idly in his fingers, remembering all the times that it saved him from injury, or worse. Suddenly, he looks up, as if waking from a dream. Drake: There's no time for this now. I have to leave soon. Claire: Yes, you do. Here's the 2,000 Gil. She hands Drake the money. Drake: Shinra is going straight through you now? Claire: Yeah, they actually called me and asked if I could find someone... I guess I'll have to change my number. Drake: Yeah, I never much trusted them... Is there anything to eat before I get going? Claire: Sure, downstairs in the kitchen. You know where the stuff is. Drake: ...I do, don't I? Drake walks down the stairs and into the kitchen. Claire: It was too much for him, too soon... He came here too young... I'm surprised he even made it... She shakes her head, and walks off to one of the rooms... Down in the kitchen, Drake is frying up some bacon. It finishes frying, and he sits down at the old table and eats, while thinking. Drake: (thinking) I'm only 19, and I've seen some of the worst things in the world today... Why the [censored] did I leave Rocket Town in the first place?! To seek a fortune? Adventure? ............ I'm not even sure, anymore... Claire walks down the stairs, and sees him sitting in thought, the bacon totally forgotten. Claire: Was it too much, coming back here? It's never easy, after something like that... Heck, not even all of the team survived... I'm surprised you did, actually. You were only about 15, at the time. You were one of the best, even if you were young. Drake: Yes, I suppose I am handling it pretty well... But I can't forget it... It's always there... Claire: You're not ever going to forget it... Neither am I, or the rest of the team... We had to do it, though... You had to do it, too. Drake: Yes, we had to do it... But I didn't-- Claire: Yes, you did... Even if it did mean losing a couple people... It had to be done, and you happened to be the one that had to do it... It's not your fault. Drake: No, they didn't have to die...... I... I made a mistake... I didn't have enough experience... Claire: No, you didn't... But that doesn't mean anyone else could have done better. Drake leans forward onto the table and, maybe by chance or something else, his Lv 1 Lightning Materia falls out of the handle of his rocket launcher. It rolls across the floor, until Claire picks it up. Claire: Level 1... You still won't let it go... It's not your fault, damnit... Drake: I just can't forget what I did... Claire: Look, someone had to use it... A silence falls over the room... Nothing is said for a while, until Drake finally breaks the silence. Drake: I need to go... Should I just go to Shinra HQ. then? Claire: Yes, they'll take you to Junon in a chopper. Drake: I guess I'll be going then... He walks upstairs into his room, and gathers up his stuff. He walks back downstairs, and Claire hands him his Materia back. Drake takes it, and notices that she gave him something else, too. He opens his hand, and looks at the red Materia alongside his green one. Drake: No... I can't take it... You know I can't even use it! Claire: It'll be good for you, trust me... Even if you can't use it yet. You need deal with it, and it does belong to you... Drake: No it doesn't... It belongs to you. You were the leader, and you're the one that they gave it too. Claire: It belongs to you now. It doesn't matter who they gave it too, you're the one that used it... And saved my life. Drake: But-- Claire: That was unavoidable. It wouldn't have mattered if someone else had used it... Drake: Okay, I'll............ I'll take it. He closed his hand on the two Materia orbs, and then put them in his small Materia pouch. He turns and walks out the door. Just as he's about to turn the corner, Claire calls back to him. Claire: Don't forget! He turns around again, to face her. Claire: Don't forget, I'm always here, if you need someone to talk to. I've been through this too, and I know what I'm talking about. Don't be afraid to talk to me. Drake: Okay... thank you... He smiles weakly, and then turns around the corner.

Actually, I think I'd like a 3D Rampage. The 2D ones were fun, in a mindless sort of way, and I think it'd be even better in 3D. You'd have four sides of a building to smash, instead of just two... :whoops:
Originally posted by Red XIII Hmm I agree with who ever said that they're probably set in differant universes because it makes more sense than they're all set in the same universe
Majora's Mask and Oracle of Ages/Seasons are set in parallel universes... But for the other games, I think that they're all set in the same universe. What are the odds that there's going to be a land named Hyrule, and each one has a person named Link and Ganon, and there's a Master Sword (okay, so it was the Magical Sword in the first one, but close enough) that Link uses to defeat Ganon? And besides, it tells of events that happen in Ocarina of Time, in A Link to the Past. So obviously, those two are set in the same universe. I think it's too easy to just say that they're all completely different, like the Final Fantasy games... There's a continuing story, you just have to search for some of it.

Except for a few of the Kokiri, but none are as long as Link's. They don't really hang down, they're more of a short, blunt point. Link's seems to be different. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Edit: Okay, I deleted that little argument. Here are the facts that were being argued: 1. Link is a Hylian. 2. The Hylians are an elven race. 3. The name Zelda is not made up. If you do a search for Zelda Fitzgerald, you will find lots of sites about her.

Drake continues to ride, and he finally reaches the gates of Midgar. Drake: Finally! ...Well, I guess it's time for you to head back home... Chocobo: Wark... Drake: Here the last of my greens, so you won't be hungry on the way back Drake gives his last two packages of greens to the Chocobo, and then sends it on it way, back to the Chocobo Ranch. Drake steps up to the door in the gate, and takes out his key ring. Selecting a key, he inserts it into the keyhole and turns, and the doors slide open. He steps inside, into the Sector 3 slums. Although not as bad as in the past, the slums are still not a very friendly place. He walks down a row of old abandoned houses, and turns a corner. Walking up to one of the older houses, he selects another key from his key ring and inserts it into the lock on the door. A groaning, squeaking noise comes from the lock as the key is turned. He opens the door, and steps in, ready for what he knew would come as soon as he stepped inside. An arm shot out towards Drake from the side, a knife in its hand, heading for his throat. Drake ducks, and sweeps his legs out to the side, tripping the person hiding in the shadows. He extends his arms out and catches the person as she falls. Drake: Thanks for the warm welcome, Claire. Drake grins at her. Claire: You know, I've still got the knife... Claire grins back, and Drake puts her down on her feet. Claire is a tall, strong woman, with short, dark brown hair. She's tough, even though she doesn't look it. Claire: What brings you back here, eh? Looking for work? Drake: Not exactly... I need a favor. Claire: I should've expected as much... I always seem to be saving your butt from something or other. Drake: Yeah, but I've done the same for you, probably just as many times. Claire: Maybe so, but don't forget that time up in the mountains near Wutai... Drake: ............ I'd like to forget that, if it's possible... Drake frowns for a second, and looks away, like he's remembering something long ago, that he doesn't wan to remember. Something that went wrong, and something that was very bad. Claire: Anyway, you seem to want something? Drake recovers, and focuses back on the matter at hand, dismissing the memory. Drake: Yes, a chopper. I need to get back to Junon. Claire: Sounds serious... Why in such a hurry? You on a job? Drake: No, but I have some... other... business, to deal with... Claire: You always seem to be busy with "other" business, don't you? Besides, I have a job that you might be interested in. Drake: Yeah, like what? Claire: Apparently, the president of Shinra was sent to Corel Prison-- Drake: Well, so much for that "other" business... Damn Shinra, can't count on them, and I knew it... Claire: Something going on with Shinra, I take it? Drake: Never mind, go on... Claire: Anyway, he seems to have escaped, along with another one of the inmates. Drake: Let me guess, they're looking for someone that'll go find him? Claire: Exactly. You'd be perfect, and you'd get a free ride to Junon. Drake: Why Junon? Claire: Because that's the best place to start looking. There's an airport, and a seaport, and don't you have a plane there? Drake: I had a plane there... Claire: You wrecked it, didn't you... Drake: Some bugger came at from behind in the air, caught he off guard. I got him before I went down, though. Claire: Interesting... I wonder if he was working for someone, of if he was just a psycho? Drake: I'd like to find out, but I guess I don't have time right now... Claire: You're going to take the job, then? Drake: How much does it pay? Claire: 250,000 Gil. Drake: Damn, I'll take it! Shinra must be desperate. Claire: Yes, they are. I guess you haven't kept up with the news lately, then? Drake: You don't hear that much on the trip from the Chocobo Ranch to Midgar... So when am I leaving? Claire: Tomorrow, if possible. I guess you can stay here tonight, if you want. Your room is the same as you left it, except a lot dustier. Drake: Yeah, I think I will stay here. Running a bit low on Gil. By the way, do I get a little extra to help cover expenses? Claire: Yes, a little. 2,000 Gil. Drake: Well, it's better than nothing. I'll probably have to dip into my "funds" but it will be worth it. Drake: In other words, you're going to mooch off someone? Drake: I like my way of saying better... And besides, I'll be able to pay them back, and then some, when I finish this job. Claire: Whatever... I guess you can go out on the town today, if you want. You'll leave at 10:00 AM tomorrow. Drake: How about I just go up to my room, and crash? I've only had a few hours of sleep for the last two days... Claire: Sure, you know where it is. I'll be around. Drake walks up the stairs and down the hall, and goes into the third door on the left. He glances around them room, recalling old memories about the time he spent in this room. Back when the old group was together, and he was just starting out. He had thought that coming to Midgar would be a big step up... But that didn't exactly turn out to be true. He put his stuff at the foot of the bed, and then fell onto it. He was so tired that he didn't care how dusty the sheets were, he just wanted to sleep.

Yeah, I thought that was kind of interesting about Mario. I guess a hat and mustache would be easier on such a tiny character... He's not that big in Donkey Kong. You know, I've always wondered why Link wears a pointy hat... I wonder if there's some story behind that, too?

I consider Zelda II to be the hardest Zelda game; I had a lot of trouble just getting through the first dungeon. I had to leave and come back a couple times, just so I didn't die... I hate those dang Iron Knuckles... I just can't get that high/low attacking/defending down... The next thing I have to do is to go through Level 2, but I haven't played it in awhile. I'd like to beat them all, eventually, but there are other games in the series that will come first. I really don't like the side-scrolling view, but I guess I'd get good with it if I played a lot. -
No, I haven't seen it. What was it like? And do you know of any place that I could download it?

They got the name Zelda from Zelda Fitzgerald. They wanted a strong feminine name that was unusual, and Zelda seemed to fit.

Man, that stinks... I wish I could find a gold Zelda II cartridge for $15... I have a normal grey one, but I'd like a gold one. Heheh... this is kind of ironic... I just happen to have an extra AC Adapter and RF Switch for the NES... :whoops: -

FFII was the SNES version of FFIV. FFII is easier than the Japanese FFIV, also. FFIV on the PSX has a new translation, but I'm not sure if they made it easier like they did with FFII on the SNES. But anyway, on to the help: Your main goal in this fight is to stay alive... Use lots of healing items/magic to make sure you stay alive, and only attack when your party is in good shape. Possible Spoiler If you survive long enough, Rydia will show up and kill Golbez's dragon with a called mist dragon. She'll then join your party, and you'll fight Golbez. Keep using lots of healing items/magic, and pummel Golbez with Rydia's Call ability. If you're not using healing magic with Cecil, he can also do a fair bit of damage using Fight. What happens next will most likely make you mad, or at least annoy you... It made me mad... I was yelling "Just run up and skewer it with your stinking sword, you idiot!" at the screen...

They made playing cards. In 1951, the name was changed to Nintendo Playing Card Co. Ltd. Then, in 1963, the name was changed to Nintendo Co. Ltd. and they started making games in addition to playing cards. In 1980, Nintendo of America Inc. was founded, and they started selling the Game & Watch series of handheld games. In 1981, the arcade game Donkey Kong was released, which was Nintendo's first big hit. Then in 1983, Nintendo developed the Family Computer (FamiCom for short) in Japan. In 1985, Nintendo released the FamiCom in America, under the name Nintendo Entertainment System (NES, for short). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's the complete history of Nintendo from 1889 to 2001. I got it off of www.nintendo.com in the corporate section. This page, to be exact.

Yes, it sure was an understatement! I am very excited about this new development with the F-Zero series. Especially if you'll be able to design your own tracks! It would also be cool if you could play online with other GCN players, as well as people playing in the arcade (if it's an online game, anyway). Hopefully it will work out well, with the arcade/GCN linking. There are tons of possibilities for it, and it could really add a lot to the game.

Nintendo may have had some part in the PlayStation as we know it today... Sony might have kept some of what was already there, and just added to it. Or, they could have totally redesigned it, and just kept the name.

Here's the walkthrough for the Water Temple that's on www.zelda.com. It'd take way too long for me to write up my own, right now. I have considered writing a complete walkthough for Ocarina of Time, but so far it hasn't happened...

My theory about Impa is that, just like Zelda, there were two Impas. Perhaps the nurse of the later Princess Zelda (the one in A Link to the Past, and onward) was also named after the Impa in Ocarina of Time. This kind of makes sense, since the later Zelda was named after the Zelda in Ocarina of Time, the Seventh Sage. Impa was the Sage of Shadow, so maybe the later nurses were also named Impa, in honor of the Sage of Shadow. Just like the later princesses were named after the original Princess Zelda, the Seventh Sage. If you look at the artwork of Impa from Ocarina of Time, you'll see that she looks a lot different than the artwork of Impa from The Legend of Zelda, and Oracle of Ages/Seasons. And, the artwork of Impa from The Legend of Zelda and Oracle of Ages/Seasons look similar. This supports my theory that there were two Impas, and that The Legend of Zelda and Oracle of Ages/Seasons are set very close to each other.
