Even if I had a Dreamcast, and if I was going to buy SA2 or SA2: Battle, I'd get SA2: Battle just so I could use the GCN controller. The Dreamcast controller seems a bit big to me... But then again, the N64 controller seems a little bit to big to me, also... the GCN controller has them all beat, though. ;)
Originally posted by James but I really hope that it will borrow old Metroid elements, while also providing new direction in the series.
Two words: Morph Ball. :) Of course Metroid Prime won't be like the first three Metroid games... The guy that did most of the programing work on the first three died in a car crash... :( If you're looking for classic Metroid gameplay, get Metroid IV for the GBA, which should be coming out in the second quater of 2002, I think, before Metroid Prime. I read that Metroid IV will use a lot of code that's similar to Super Metroid, so they should have a lot in common, in terms of how the game plays. The only thing that would keep me from getting Metroid IV is if, like some people have speculated because of the timer in the video shown at Space World 2002, there's a time limit on the whole game. That's what kept me from buying Pikmin (although I can just borrow it from my friend, now, since he got it for his birthday).

But I had to do it, what with the dragon. :D With that, Drake throws the knife and scores a hit on the dragon's left breast.
Originally posted by Angelus_Necare I figure that they made the faeries for the game so as not to confuse gamers. if your in a world filled to the brim with faeries and an angel turns up to grant you something it would probably freak some out. i also think the angel idea was ditched because there was probably a controversy on religion. they made one mistake though. even if there is no angel in he faerie fountains there is an angel statue above the threshold when you exit the faerie fountain room, check it out in Oot, i never thought to look in MM though.
Angels? When did Angels come into this? The picture I posted (the one on the right) is a Great Fairy, not an Angel. That's just what they looked like during some point in the development of the game. If you look at the second picture I posted in this thread, you'll see a picture of a Great Faerie from A Link to the Past (it's spelled "Faerie" in A Link to the Past, and "Fairy" in Ocarina of Time). The first Zelda game that had Great Fairies was A Link to the Past, so they started out looking that way, and I think they should have stayed that way.

I've heard all sorts of rumors about the Triforce being in Ocarina of Time... But it's not, even in the Japanese version of the game. One thing that started all of the rumors was a screen shot that was taken when the game was still in development. When they first started working on "Zelda 64" they made a dungeon that was like the first dungeon in the orignal Legend of Zelda, only in 3D, and at the end you got the Triforce. A screen shot was taken of the Triforce, and then people started saying that you could get it in the game. Any rumors you hear about getting the Triforce in Ocarina of Time are totally false. The closest you get to having the Triforce is when you get the Triforce of Courage, which is shown by the mark on Link's hand. Btw, those stones are called Sheikah Stones, or "Gossip Stones" as they're sometimes referred to.
Originally posted by Gohan Playstation and it's joystick came out before the nintendo 64...
The PlayStation came out before the Nintendo 64, but I'm pretty sure that the Dual Shock controllers for the PSX came out after the N64. I don't remember ever seeing a Dual Shock controller in the stores, until after the N64 was released.

It's been confimed that there is another Castlevania game coming out for the GBA. Konami was surprised that Circle of the Moon did so well, so they decided to make another one.
Originally posted by Gohan Wait, if the control pad was "invented" by nintendo, and the joystick was questionably "invented" by nintendo, then what was used to move on previous systems?
Ever played the Atari 2600? I have one, and one of the types of controllers has a wheel and a single button on it. Then there was a joystick, a lot like the ones on arcade games, which also had a single button on it. And I think there might have been one or two other types of controllers, too. Here's a picture of an Atari 2600 with a joystick controller:
Originally posted by Jabroni3:16 I think us GCN fans in general need to become less offensive when the word "Kiddie" and GCN (or something relating to it) are used in the same sentence.
I don't really get offended, I just used to try and find out why they thought that the GCN is a "kiddie" system, and see if they had a legitimate reason. Anymore, I do just ignore it, and I think everyone else should too. Ignoring it may not make it go away, but we don't have to deal with it, either.
Originally posted by Jabroni3:16 Jon i thought you said this board doesn't have arguments?
Sigh... I was really, really hoping this thread wouldn't end up like this... I've seen WAY to much of this on various Zelda sites... Anymore, I don't even like to talk about the GCN Zelda, because I don't want to end up discussing this. I've done that enough already... And this is the first real argument I've seen on OtakuBoards... I'm kind of in the middle here... Yes, I think it's wrong to judge a game before you've played it. I think that graphics aren't that important to a game. Note that I don't say that they aren't important, but they aren't that important. A game can be affected by it's graphical style, but not enough to ruin it, in my oppinion. I think it's wrong to call the GCN Zelda "kiddie" (I really hate that word). Personally, I don't really like the character model for Link either, but I don't call it "kiddie". If you look at the old original artwork for The Legend of Zelda, it does look kind of like the GCN Zelda. The drawings of Link aren't to similar, but the rest of it isn't to far off. Personally, I'd absolutely love it if they made it look like the art from A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. I'd also like to say that, until more is known about the GCN Zelda (probably around E3), I'm not going to talk about it anymore... I'm really sick of hearing this, over, and over, and over again. And I'm really pissed off right now, because of all the arguing over this "new look" for the Zelda series; not just in this thread, but just in general. THERE ISN'T ANY POINT TO IT!!! EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN OPPINION, AND IT'S VERY RARE THAT ANYONE ELSE CAN CHANGE THAT OPPINION!!! There, I'm done with this subject, probably until E3. I think this thread should be closed. Edit: Okay, I got a little carried away with that last section... I'm sorry, it's just that I've really grown to hate this particular subject. I've seen it way too many times, and I've seen poeple start flaming each other over it. I guess I was afraid that that would happen here. Actually this is probably so old that no one will ever see this edit, LOL... But, this has been bugging me for awhile now, and I just wanted to say that. :)
Originally posted by Gohan It wasn't necisarily that u wer bashing it, it was more that u wer saying that nintendo was better, it being the one that gave sony it's "life" in gaming. That nintendo pretty much invented gaming.
Nintendo didn't really invent video games, but it did pull the industry out of a VERY large slump, when it came out with the NES... Without Nintendo, The PSX and PS2 probably wouldn't exist. And not just because Nintendo pulled the gaming industry out of a slump, but because the only reason Sony made the PlayStation was to get back at Nintendo for switching to Philips at the last minute, for their SNES add-on (which was never released). And Btw, when Nintendo was still working on that SNES add-on with Sony, guess what it was called... Yep, that's right, it was called the PlayStation. Nintendo did invent the + Control Pad (with the Game & Watch series, I think), but I'm not so sure about the analog stick. Besides, there have been joysticks on arcade games for a lot longer than the N64 has been around, even if they weren't analog.
Originally posted by James Falco will indeed be in the game, but I'm not sure what his role will be. And no, the frame rate will not be choppy, it'll be silky smoothe at 60 frames per second. ;)
Really? I read that Falco wasn't going to be in it. It said he was going off to pursue a "solo career" or something like that. Yeah, it would be cool if they made a Star Fox game set during the first Battle of Andross. I guess you'd have to play as Peppy, though, since Pigma betrays the team, and James dies... Unless you play as James, and you die at the end of the game... Well, I suppose that James might have lived... Since he kind of shows up at the end of Star Fox 64...
Originally posted by NorykoAngelcry The story seems pretty straight forward: Seven (I think) years after the Battle of Andross, you go to another world filled with dinosaurs to help free them from the tyranny of the evil lizard ruler. . . something like that =P Anyways, I am hoping this title will deliver a lot of fun. ^_^
Do you mean seven years after the Battle of Andross, with the old Star Fox team, or the Battle of Andross with the new Star Fox team (with Fox, Peppy, Slippy, and Falco)?

DEATH... BY... CHEEEEEZE!!!!!   That was one screwed up rumor! LOL! Edit: I would've written more in this post, but I kind of had to log out in a hurry... I've saved the "Cheese WEAPON Quest" to a .txt file... I'm going to have to show that to my friends. When I was reading it, my brother was sitting next to me, and we were both laughing so hard, it hurt, Lol.
Originally posted by Boba Fett Im sorry but in my opinion the best game made by nintendo in its history without a shadow of a doubt is the origional Super smash Brothers. The new one has flashy graphics and all ( and isnt to bad ) but the origonal ROCKS. :mrt: I pity da fool who dont agree with me!!
I agree with you, in that I think Super Smash Bros. is better than Super Smash Bros. Melee, but I wouldn't say that it's the best Nintendo game ever... (And it's close, between SSB and SSBM). It was fun and lasted a long time, but it was only a fighting game... I prefer games with a storyline, which is why I love the Zelda series so much. But anyway, this is just my oppinion...
Originally posted by RicoTranzrig Yeah, I think it's gonna be good, despite what people say about that new image of Link...with the "almond" eyes and all...it was a shock the first time I saw it...but it looks kinda cute after a while.
Yeah, I know. When I first saw the "new look" I thought it was awful, but now I like it. It's weird how it can grow on you... The current release date is Fall 2002, if you didn't already know. I hope it doesn't need to be delayed, like Ocarina of Time was. Btw, I moved this thread into the Zelda forum, since this is a thread about a Zelda game.

I dunno... It's kind of cute, I guess. I like it's song, in the cartoon, though. I have a tape that has a couple episodes with Jigglypuff in them.

I'm thinking that I'll rent it when it comes out, and then decide if I want to buy it or not. It sounds like it'll deffinatly be at least worth a rent.
Originally posted by Panny Chan ; ) but hey, why listen to me?? I cussed out my manager!
Yeah, but that was for a legitimate reason... I think you did the right thing. I'd leave it in, to show that you don't conform to peoples expectations. Like DuoGod of Death said, you shouldn't pretend to be someone that you're not. But anyway, that's just my opinion...

Gah! I was wrong, it is three hours... I don't know why I though it was four... I looked on www.nintendo.com and it said it was three. Sorry about that. Guess I got a bit mixed up... :cross:

There's Star Fox on the Super NES and Star Fox 64 on the Nintendo 64... But Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet is a different type of game (for the most part). Instead of being a flight shooter game like the first two Star Fox games, it's going to be more an adventure/RPG game, like the two N64 Zelda games. There will still be flying levels, though, but most of the game will take place on the planets surface. If you meant, is it coming out on any other systems, no, it isn't. Rare developes exclusively for Nintendo.

www.nintendo.com says it's going to be released on June 10, 2002. I've known about this for almost a month now. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If it takes a delay to make the game as good as it can be, I'll wait. Yeah, I think it's cool that you'll actually be able to see each individual hair. And I've heard that the facial expressions are supposed to be really good, too. I think I'm going to get it. Maybe it'll keep me busy until Zelda comes out.
Originally posted by kuja nintendo should get some good companys to sign
They do have good companies making games for the GCN... Pretty much all of them except Square... The one thing that Nintendo is missing. This sounds interesting, although it won't really affect me. There's only one or two arcades in my town, and there's not many games in them. That and there really aren't many arcade games that I'd want to play, that I can't get on a console. Edit: It's official! Go here to read all about this at www.nintendo.com!
