Nintendo doesn't want people to see their games before they're released... I don't see anything wrong with that... I think being "secretive" is fine, as long as the games are good. As long as the games keep the same quality that Nintendo is known for, they can do anything they want and I won't mind.
Originally posted by Squashed Snail Well the GBA is 32-bit, and so is the PS1... so that means it could have the same graphics as the PS1, but it's just that the GBA has a smaller screen... and I think that having a complete 3D environment game, on the GBA, is too much for now...
Just because the GBA is a 32 bit system doesn't mean that it's capable of the same thing as the PSX, another 32 bit system. The GBA doesn't have as good a graphics processor as the PSX, so it's graphics aren't going to be as good. The reason for this is size. Say you have two versions of a graphics processor, and one is half the size of the other. The smaller one is going to cost more, because it's harder to make something small, than big. If Nintendo had wanted to make the GBA cost a whole lot more, they could have made it about as powerful as a GCN or PS2. But to make it affordable (rather than a few thousand dollars), they used older technology that doesn't cost a whole lot to make small enough for a handheld. The number of bits a system has doesn't really affect how good the graphics will be on that system. If you stuck the graphics processor of a SNES onto a 128 bit system, you wouldn't get 3D graphics.
Originally posted by Gohan Thanx, but i just beat it. How do u fly when mario gets the cape? What i do is get on a run way and run until his arms go out, then fly up. But when u run out of flying power my cape is used lik a balloon and i float back down. Is there a way to stay up and float through the whole level?
No offence or anything, but do you read the instruction booklets that come with games? Because it tells how to fly in the instruction booklet... All about using the Cape: Flying When you get a Cape, get a running start, until Mario (or Luigi) is holding out his arms. Now, while still holding in the B button, jump with the A button. You'll soar up into the air, and when you release the A button (or when you reach the height of the jump) your Cape will open up. While still holding the B button, you can fly level by repeatedly pushing the + Control Pad in the opposite direction that you're flying. If you just keep pushing the + Control Pad really quickly, though, you'll still lose altitude. The way to fly level is to tap the + Control Pad in the opposite direction you're flying, just as Mario (or Luigi) starts to lose altitude. In this way, you can actually gain altitude, and get going fast. If you push the + Control Pad in the direction that you're flying, you will descend quickly. If you hit the ground while doing this, you will cause the ground to shake, and any nearby enemies will be killed. If you get hit while flying, you will not always take damage. Depending on what/how you get hit, you will sometimes just fall to the ground doing a spin jump. Flying while riding Yoshi or holding an object When flying while riding on Yoshi's back, or while holding an object, you won't be able to open your Cape. Because of this, you can only soar up into the air, you can't maintain your altitude, and you will just fall back to the ground. This can be useful, however, if you want to fly vertically instead of horizontally. Floating Anytime that you are falling in the air, you can float slowly down with the Cape. To do this, simply hold in the A button. Spinning To spin with the Cape, quickly tap the B button repeatedly, while on the ground. This is very useful, because you can kill many different enemies this way, hit blocks, and even block some projectiles. When you perform a Spin Jump, using the R button, your Cape will act just like if you were spinning on the ground.

I love the graphics. All those nice, 2D sprites... Love them... :) While the GBA is a 32 bit system, that doesn't mean that you're going to get the same kind of graphics as on the PlayStation. While the GBA is capable of 3D polygons, it's not meant to be and they stretch the system to its limit. You'll notice that in games link Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, there's the skater which is a polygon and then everything else is 2D. Personally, I like the old 2D sprites and pseudo-3D graphics. Gotta love that Mode 7 scaling and rotation. ;)

When fighting the Materia Keeper, it will probably use the Enemy Skill Trine, so make sure that you have the Enemy Skill Materia equiped. Trine is a pretty powerful lightning elemental attack, at that point in the game. And you get a Counter Attack Materia for beating the Materia Keeper. Both of these are very useful.
Originally posted by Gohan I'm doing pretty good in my game, but right now I am stuck on "Butter Bridge 1" where the screen is moving slowly to the right, and you hav to jump from mushroom tree to mushroom tree. Man, that junk is hard...for me...
Don't worry, you're not the only one... I had trouble with that one too, when I first played through it on the SNES. To make it easier, start the level with a Cape, a Feather in reserve, and a Yoshi. If you've found a Star Road, get a Blue Yoshi. With a Blue Yoshi, you'll be able to fly with any Koopa shell, and you'll be able to float with your Cape. Plus, you'll be able to jump off of Yoshi's back, if you get in trouble. Good luck!

Yeah, Metroid Prime is going to be part first person shooter and part third person shooter. I'm hoping that there'll be more third person gameplay, than first person. Yes, I knew about that. And it's four hours, not three... Three would be impossible. And if you beat the original Metroid in under two hours, you can play as Samus without her armor, also.

I do think that Nintendo should have included the X and Y buttons, but I don't think that they're necessary for most games. And I think it would be a bit cramped if the size remained the same. I think that on the next Game Boy, they should keep the horizontal design, but make it a bit taller so they can add the X and Y buttons. And they should make it so the L and R buttons have to be pushed in a little farther, more like the SNES and N64 R and L buttons. Btw, the GBA has six buttons: Start, Select, A, B, L, and R. I think you meant that it should have eight buttons, not six.

I have Super Metroid! And I also have the 150 issue of EGM, that has the 100 best games, where it's on top. I have to agree that it's a really cool game. I'm not sure that I'll like the GCN Metroid, though... The only first person shooter that I've liked was Perfect Dark, and I mainly liked the multi-player in that... Hopefully, there'll be lots of third person gameplay.

Oh yeah, I remember him from the original Final Fantasy. He's the first and the end boss, right? Maybe the four crystals are supposed to represent the four elemental Fiends?
Originally posted by Squashed Snail And if they bring it to PS1, or PS2, they'd have to make a contract with Sony first, in which I don't think they will...
I think he meant that if Square is remaking the old Final Fantasy games on the PSX and Nintendo is remaking the old Mario games on GBA, then Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars deserves to be remade on the GBA too. And I agree, it should be remade on the GBA. It was one of the best RPGs on the SNES, in my opinion. Yes, I've played it and I think it's really cool. Having Bowser in your party is really cool too. Btw, it was released in 1996. It couldn't have been released in 1990, because the Super NES came out in 1991. And that hidden boss isn't from Final Fantasy II. I'm not sure if it's actually from a Final Fantasy game or if they just made it up, but I do know it's not from FFII. It does look like it, with those crystals, though.
Originally posted by Zero-Sama I also bought Super Mario RPG:Legend Of The Seven Stars along with it and Super Mario RPG is by far better.
I think what Gohan means, is that it's the best out of the platform Mario games, or "real" Mario games. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars isn't really considered a "real" Mario game, because it's a different type of game. And yeah, I noticed that Mario punches the back of Yoshi's head to get him to stick out his tung, when I first played Super Mario World on the SNES. Of course, it also looks like he picks his nose when he throws a fireball, Lol! I got Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 on Feb. 13, and I've already played all the way through it and gotten all 96 gates. I still have to beat it, though, but that's not very hard. I would have to agree that Super Mario World is the best "real" Mario game, too. I've played through it five times on the SNES and now one time on the GBA, totaling six times! And I'm most likely going to play through it several more times on the GBA, before I'm through with it. I wonder if I'll get up to ten?
Originally posted by Squashed Snail So there isn't gonna be an American GameCube released in America? Man.... I'm all confuddled...
There's the GameCube, which has been released in the US (I have one), which can play GameCube games only. Then, there's the "Q" which is a GameCube/DVD player, which will not be released in the US and probably not anywhere else, besides Japan (where it has already been released). Does that clear everything up?

Hey, thanks! I too thought I would be in the Zelda forum, if I was going to be made a mod... Whatever... Nintendo would have been my second choice, if I had gotten to choose. I'm happy. :) I never really thought of the Virtual Boy as a portable system, but more of a home console. From looking at the displays in stores (when it first came out) and various pictures, it does look a bit bulky to carry around. Anyone know where I might be able to get one for cheap? I've wanted to get one for awhile now, so I can actually decide for myself about how good it is.
Originally posted by Squashed Snail Well I was just wondering when the GBA version was coming out.....?
When will it be released? It hasn't even been officially announced yet... But you know there's going to be one. I'm guessing it'll be out around the 4th quarter of 2002, or the 1st quarter of 2003.
-
Yeah, I suppose they couldn't have planned that... I guess I got a bit carried away. :cross: Here's how I order the Zelda games, in terms of what came first: 1. Ocarina of Time 2. Majora's Mask 3. A Link to the Past 4. Link's Awakening 5. The Legend of Zelda 6. Oracle of Ages/Seasons 7. The Adventure of Link Not everyone agrees with me on this, though, like www.zelda.com.

Game & Watch games were individual hand-held games that Nintendo made before they made the NES. Each one featured a game and a clock, thus, the name Game & Watch. I don't know how many different games there were, but there were a lot of them. If you want to play some of the games that were on them, you can get them in Game & Watch Gallery 1, 2, and 3 for the Game Boy. Unfortunatly, the Zelda game is not included in any of those... :( If it was, I'd have bought it.

Only about ten minutes of Valentines Day left, for me... Although today actually wasn't that bad... Except that I'm sick (Yes, I'm sick on V-Day. I was also sick on Christmas. Go figure). I had to take cold pills so I was really doped up and I didn't have to do school. :) I just sat and played Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 for most of the day. (Although, I didn't do very good, since I was really sleepy and stuff). All in all, today was pretty good.
Originally posted by Squashed Snail What do you mean? ...the GBA and the GCN can connect? ..and they can trade or whatever with these new game coming out?
Yes, there is a cable out now (in the US, anyway) that connects the GBA and the GCN. The first games to use this are Sonic Advance (GBA) and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GCN). There will no doubt be Pokémon games for both systems (although I don't think any have been officially announced) that will use this cable. I think Yellow is better than Red/Blue. You get all three of the starting Pokémon (Bulbasaur, Charmander, & Squirtle) in Yellow, plus Pikachu.

In the Zelda Game & Watch, you fight your way up to the top of a tower, where you fight a dragon... At least that's what I've heard... I really want one, but the only one I could find on eBay was at $80.00...
Originally posted by Squashed Snail  Hmmmm, I might go and try it..... When you're pressing the L/R Buttons, does it have to be done at a certain speed? Thanks for posting this up! :)
No, there isn't a specific speed. I've done it pretty slow, and it still worked. You mean the password didn't work, when you entered it in the game? I just went and got the password for -Noryko- and it's Q3M?X-CLL?30 Was that the password that you got? If that password doesn't work, I don't know what to do... I got a password this way with my file name, and it worked fine...

www.nintendo.com says that DragonBall Z: The Legacy of Goku will be released in May 2002. It says that DragonBall Z: Collectible Card Game will be released in June 2002. Super Mario Advance 3 will be a remake of Super Mario Bros. 3, not Yoshi's Island. However, there is going to be Super Mario Advance 4: Yoshi's Island coming out after Super Mario Advance 3. And I've heard that there might be a remake of Yoshi's Story, also, but it hasn't been announced officially, I don't think. Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 is awsome! The control is just like in the original! I love this game!

It's 12:40 AM right now... and I have to get up at 7:00 AM... What am I going to do today? I think I'll go out and lay down in the street, and see if people notice me before they run me over... :bawl: I've got no one! No one at all! :bawl: *bangs head against the computer desk, repeatedly*

I love the new logo and color scheme! I like dark colors for this sort of thing. That's why I always set the window color to black in video games (like Final Fantasy). I don't think I'll be using the logo as wallpaper, because my mom wouldn't like it. She already objects to some of the video game wallpaper that I have... Like the Zelda: Majora's Mask wallpaper:
Originally posted by Crazy White Boy Funny you should bring up Mario Tennis for the Virtual Game Boy, Kuja. I almost bought one of those contraptions just for that ingenious game! When I started getting dizzy from it, I changed my mind though. Anyway, I could be mistaken, as I haven't played Mario Golf in a while, but I belive that the same folks behind Hot Shots Golf made it. Camelot was it? I had to try it just for that. No one can design a golf course like those guys. Mario Golf is one of those games that I cursed at, threw the controller down in disgust, swore I'd never play again because it was a piece of garbage, and was already missing it again five minutes later. Ah, that's when you can tell when you've got a winning formula. In a way, it's Nintendo's own way of making you purchase new controllers!
I keep hearing about people getting dizzy from playing the Virtual Boy, and I've always wanted to play one to see if it would make me dizzy. I seem to be pretty resistant to bright light and stuff like that (I've had a laser pointer shined in my eyes and I could see fine immediatly after it was turned off), so I'm thinking that it might not make me dizzy. And I've also only gotten motion sickness once... I think it was mainly because I had eaten to much chocolate, though. Yes, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis (N64 and GBC) were both developed by Camelot. They also developed Golden Sun for the GBA. I know what you mean... I've done that on a few games myself. Diddy Kong Racing was one of them. Trying to beat Wizpig for the second time on Adventure 2, without T.T... Very hard.
