Yeah, my favorite section is also Player's Pulse. Some of the replies to the letters are really funny.

I too, suck at the dancing in Oracle of Ages. I can remember the rhythm, but I can't remember what order you push the buttons in. And it doesn't help that I always suck at things like that... Personally, I don't think you should have to do something like that in order to advance in the game. Memorization mini-games suck. Now, if it's a mini-game like the target shooting, that's okay, but I hate mini-games where you have to memorize something really quickly like that.

Yes, I agree with people about the Final Fantasy series have "too much storyline". I played through FFII, FFIII and FFVII but I stopped playing FFIX about half-way through the third CD. In the newer FF games, the gameplay seems a bit more linier than the old ones. If there's one thing I really like in a game, it's being able to explore and take my time. Okay, I'm going to start talking about the Zelda game's storylines. Prepare for a looooong rambling. For the storylines of the Zelda games, I like ones with lots of story, mainly telling about the history behind the game. But, it also has to have lots of enemies and puzzles too. This is the main reason why my favorite Zelda game is A Link To the Past. I has lots of information about the history of Hyrule, but at the same time, it has lots of secrets to find and it has two big maps to explore. It also has just the right ammount of enemies. In the The Legend of Zelda, there were too many, but in Ocarina of Time, there weren't enough. But, there was a lot of history in Ocarina of Time that kept me playing it to the end. Specifically, it shows how Link started out, and it tells more about the creation of the world and the Triforce. It also tells a lot more about the Sacred Realm, or the Golden Land as it came to be called later in the history. The Legend of Zelda did keep my playing 'til the end (of both quests) even though it has practically no storyline, but I think that's because I already know the storyline behind it, from playing the other games such as A Link To the Past and Ocarina of Time. Link's Awakening was a whole new adventure with a totally different storyline, so it held me to the end, because I wanted to know more about Koholint Island and the Wind Fish. It also introduced some good gameplay mechanics by letting you use two items at once (besides your sword). For example, this let you shoot arrows with bombs on the end and jump over long pits with the Pegasus Boots and Roc's Feather. Another thing it introduced to the Zelda games was jumping. While in A Link To the Past, you could bounce off walls by running into them with the Pegasus Shoes, you couldn't jump from wherever you wanted. And yes, you could jump in The Adventure of Link, but that was a mostly side-scrolling game that had more of a platform game feel to it, where you really needed to be able to jump. As for Oracle of Ages/Seasons, I have yet to play Seasons much, but Ages got old after the fifth dungeon. I think the main reason for this was because it was way to linier. At the start, you could barely go anywhere, because you didn't have any items. That means you only get to explore little bits of the world at a time, and only after you beat a dungeon. Also, it offered very little story. If it had a nice rich story about the land of Labrynna and how it was connected to Hyrule, I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more. While Majora's Mask has more a little more history about the land of Termina, there wasn't enough gameplay to make up for that lack. Again, like in Ocarina of Time, there were barely any enemies, particularly in the dungeons. Having barely played The Adventure of Link and Oracle of Seasons, I won't talk about them since I don't know too much about them. This concludes my ramble about the Zelda games. I told you it was gonna be long.

Yes! I love Nintendo Power! I've been a subscriber for almost two years now, and I have a subscription for another two. I also have a bunch of old issues that my brother gave to me when he moved out. If you need Nintendo Power's e-mail address, here's the one for asking things like that: noapulse@nintendo.com And here's an index that I've made for all the issues of Nintendo Power that I have:

store.nintendo.com is the only online store where you buy things direct from Nintendo. And, they only have accessories and stuff like that. If you're looking for games, here's a few sites you might look at: www.gamestop.com www.ebgames.com

No, Cid isn't a secret character. The only secret characters are Vincent and Yuffie. You get Cid when you "fly" out of Rocket Town, which is beyond Mt. Nibel. And for getting Yuffie, you have to say the right things to get her to come with you. I won't say what they are, but don't use the save point! When you do get her to come with you, she comes equiped with the Throw Materia.

Drake: Yes, I'm sure you can. Orion: Lets get going. We can all admire Matt's new treasure on the way back. Drake: Urrrrrrgggggghhhhhh...... Drake grunts as he shoulders the sack of treasure once again, as they set off. Andry: I wonder if it'd work with anyone? Matt: I'm not sure... Possibly. Drake: I don't think I'd want all that armor. Give me a pair of leather trousers and a leather shirt and I'm happy. Oh yes, and a cloak. Kizu: Why wouldn't you want the armor? Drake: Because armor is heavy. And when you're a thief, you have to be quick. Orion: Or you're dead. Drake: Yes, quite right... Ironically, if you're not quick, you become dead quickly. Orion: No one has ever been quick enough when they were trying to steal from me... :demon: Drake: If you're trying to steal from a behemoth, you're not a thief... You're stupid. They continue walking, on and on, step after step...
Originally posted by Squashed Snail Ok, I'm a bit stumped on here, because even if I had the Nintendo site for help, I still wouldn't be able to answer all them. :(
If you cared to look hard enough, you would find the anwsers to all of those questions on nintendo.com. To get the Extra Tracks, you have to beat a Cup and get an "A" Ranking or higher and at least a total of 100 Coins from the four races. When you do this, you'll open up the Extra Cup that corresponds with the Cup that you beat, on the engine class that you beat it on. So, say you beat the Flower Cup on 100cc and got an "A" Ranking and above 100 Coins. You'd open the Extra Flower Cup on 100cc. Btw, if you haven't gotten a trophy on all the Cups on a certain engine class, you'll have to get one on all of them before you can open Extra Cups on that engine class. Sorry I took so long to reply, but I've been playing Super Smash Bros. Melee on my new GameCube that I got for Christmas, non-stop since I got it.

When I was browsing the Absolute Zelda site, I noticed that there weren't any maps for Zelda A Link To the Past (SNES). I have some maps that I'd be happy to donate, if you need maps. I also have pictures of characters, bosses, enemies and various other things, including artwork from the player's guide.
Originally posted by Squashed Snail Hehe....., yeah, I know what you mean. That's happened to my brother's Virtualboy while he was playing a sonic game or somethin'. It blew up the T.V. Hehe..... :bellylol:
Ummm... Virtual Boy is an old Nintendo system... That means no Sonic games. But anyway, no you connot have more than four GBAs linked together and have them work. If you did try to have more hooked up, they just wouldn't be reconized by the other systems, or it just wouldn't work at all. You don't have to worry about your system catching fire. Also, have you gotten any of the Extra Tracks (the ones from the original Super Mario Kart) yet? Or if you haven't, do you know how to get them? Or do you want to find out on your own?

Yeah, if you cared to look around www.nintendo.com you'd be able to find out the anwsers to all of those questions. Heck, that's where I found out the anwsers. (I did have to look up the spelling for Fusajiro Yamauchi, though). And I tend to memorize the important dates for video game history. Ironically, I'm terrible at memorizing dates for other things. :whoops: It is fun to have all that totally useless information floating around in your head. I guess it's not totally useless, if you talk to other gamers. I've impressed my friends on more than one occasion because I've known these really obscure facts. For example, did you know that Nintendo invented the D-Pad? Or that the Zelda games started out with an old Game & Watch game? Or that Donkey Kong got his name because he was supposed to be stupid like a donkey? All these and more will probably never help me in real life, but are just fun to know...

I've asked for a Jet Nintendo GameCube, Super Smash Bros. Melee, a Memory Card 59 and three Jet Controllers. I know I won't get it all for Christmas, but whatever I don't I'll probably get for my birthday which is eight days later.
Originally posted by kuja well... i was really little... i wasnt allowed to play the zelda games till AFTER my parents beat them... so i just watched... so it meant i got to watch more ;) and when i was little i used to love it
When I was little, I used to love watching my brothers play vidoe games too! My favorite games to watch were the Zelda series, the Metroid series and the Final Fantasy series. Actually, watching video games helped me learn to read and spell, especially the FF series, because there's lots of text and I'd try to read along to know what was going on in the game. The FF series taught me how to spell words like "cure" and "equip". Yet another way that video games help you in real life. ;)
Originally posted by kizu The first game boys were so large that they were portable but not very convenyent. they were just too big. But I have no plroblem with the GBC because that it was smaller and I could fit it into my pockets and bring it with me really anywhere. The only good thing on teh GB is that you can adjust the the brightness on it. And you couldn't for the on the GBC.
Yes, the original GB was large compared to the GBP/GBC, but it was really small for when it came out. A GB is actually almost as powerful as a NES. And a NES is quite a bit bigger than a GB. Yes, I agree that the GBC/GBA does need a contrast adjuster. Especially when you're playing in low light.
Originally posted by slasher Will someone show me a picture of virtual boy??
Certainly!
Originally posted by Squashed Snail A 56k modem?! I use that to go on here! Does that mean that I could use the modem I'm using now, to use with the NGC? P.S I doubt I'll ever be getting a NGC though..... :( :angry2:
No, you won't be able to use the modem that you're using with your PC in your GCN too. Nintendo will be selling a 56K Modem and Broadband Adapter that fit into one of the ports on the bottom of the GCN. The modems that are used with PCs deffinatly won't fit in the port on the GCN. Here's a picture of the 56K Modem (the Broadband Adapter looks the same, only grey) that I found on www.nintendo.com:

I think that if Nintendo gets a network up and running, it won't be connected to the internet. They'll probably have their servers, and you'll connect to that to play online games. I really doubt that you'll be able to browse the web on your TV with the GCN. That, and I don't think you could hack into a GCN. I mean, what would you do even it it is possible? You can't actually damage the system physically. And since you don't have any software on the system, you wouldn't be able to mess with that. You don't have a hard-drive, so you couldn't mess with any files at all. There's just not anything you could screw up.

To wear the Fierce Deity's Mask outside of boss battles, put on the Bunny Hood and warp to the third day. Go to the entrance to Sakon's hideout in Ikana Canyon. You'll see a crack on the right side of the door. Run and roll at the crack until you get in. (If you get in but fall in the water, climb back up and try again.) Once you're inside, talk to Kafei. You'll start going through the maze, trying to get the Sun's Mask back. When you get control of Kafei, pause the game and switch the Bunny Hood with the Fierce Deity's Mask. When you get control of Link again, he'll be wearing the Fierce Deity's Mask. If you complete the maze, you'll appear outside Sakon's hideout as the Fierce Deity. Jump into the water and take the right-hand tunnel. You'll appear in the Southern Swamp and from there, you can explore Termina as the Fierce Deity. Be warned, though. If you enter Clock Town, you won't be able to leave and you'll have to duck to enter buildings.

The Game Boy Pocket came in several different colors. The pictures that I have of the Boxes aren't the actual size of the boxes in real life. The size of the GBP is about the same size as the GBC. Here'a a .zip file with pictures of all the different colored GBP boxes that I have:

Well, I've never been able to find the GB Pocket logo by itself, but I do have a picture of a GBP box. It has the logo on it. Here it is:
Originally posted by Squashed Snail I thought that you could hook up a normal old dial=up modem to use with the GC?
No, you can't just hook up any modem to the GCN. Nintendo is coming out with both a 56K Modem and a Broadband Adapter that fits into one of the ports on the bottom of the GCN. Link NorykoAngelcry said, they haven't been released yet. Nintendo is still researching whether it will be profitable to have a network and online games. Nintendo will probably release the modem and Broadband Adapter either when/if they get their network up or when a 3rd party online game is released (such as Fantasy Star Online). And I would LOVE a Super Smash Bros. game with online play! Imagine playing in an online tournament with 63 other people! Starts slobbering all over his computer.

YES! It is definatly worth it! It's dang powerful against the bosses, plus there's a trick to let you use it outside of boss battles! That and Link looks really cool while wearing it.

Okay, yes, I admit I posted quite a bit in the Otaku Big Brother thread. But when the thread was first starting out, beofre all the members arrived, Flash said that other people could stay until they all arrived. Almost all of my posts in that thread where before all the members had arrived. I had maybe five posts after that. Most of my posts in that thread where from my little war with Warlock... Up at 3:00 AM with nothing to do, arguing, insulting and generally not being very coherant over the instant messenger while we fought two battles, simultaneously in the Padded Room and the Big Brother house... That was a crazy night..... :drunk:
