In other news, the exact same thing has happened to me on this site and has been that way since a few months ago when Raiha and I got in a PM war. Fix plz?
I'll look into it, but this came up once before and I couldn't find any way to fix it then so I can't make any promises.

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
Desbreko replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
I'm actually reading the Ichigo Mashimaro (aka Strawberry Marshmallow) manga right now. I saw the anime series and OAV a while ago and absolutely loved it so I decided to grab the manga as well. It's every bit as awesome as the anime (or I guess it would be the other way around actually) and seems to have made the jump between mediums flawlessly. There are only four volumes out so far, so it's not especially long, but there's still a fair bit of content that didn't make it into the anime or OAV. And I didn't think it possible but Matsuri-chan is even more adorable in the manga where she has white hair instead of gray. -
You can get long ethernet cables that would reach far enough but like Azure said it may end up costing about as much for a cable that long as just getting a cheap wireless router or a USB wifi dongle. I'd shop around and see what prices are like on stuff.
-
I'm pretty sure you should be able to use any other USB wifi dongle as well. There's nothing special about the Nintendo branded ones except that they come with software to let the DS/Wii connect through them automatically with minimal setup. And I guess they don't allow any other devices to connect through them but that's not really a plus.

There's a lot of characters from SSBM that haven't been shown in SSBB yet but I doubt they've dropped all of them. They're mainly focusing on new characters and trickling out information bit by bit to get people hyped up, just like they did before SSBM's release. We only saw a small part of SSBM's cast before its release so there will no doubt be many more characters in SSBB than what's been shown so far. Ike isn't a good replacement for Marth though; the play styles of the two are complete opposites, with Marth focused on fast hits and combos whereas Ike has slow but really powerful attacks. I expect Ike to replace Roy but they'd be stupid to drop Marth as well, especially since Marth is one of the best and most popular characters in SSBM.

Sonic does look pretty awesome but I'm looking forward to Snake more. Snake looks kind of like a cross between Sheik and Captain Falcon for his close range moves and then he's got explosives too. Plus I can never resist fly-by-wire missiles. I think he's going to be one of my favorite new characters.
Reminder: Remember to save your files as .jpeg files, preferably, because otherwise there'll be trouble when juxtaposting the pieces next to each other (colours, mainly)!
QFT The gradient at the top of Ninjah's piece is off just a bit because of this. IE shows the colors a little bit darker than they actually are so when you view it in Firefox or another program that displays pngs correctly the colors are a bit too light. I will once again link to the Wikipedia page about the png format so people can see why this happens and how to stop it from happening. Edit: Yay, I reinstalled Photoshop and did some editing. I did a better recompression of Ozy's piece and fixed the gradient on Ninjah's as best I could. The one on ZeitGeist's piece is at some funky angle that I could never get quite right. The worm is updated now as well.

Really? I figured the increase in difficulty from hard to expert would be less than from medium to hard. Once you master the hand positions for using the orange button in combination with the rest it doesn't seem like there'd be much left for the game to throw at you besides just adding more notes. On medium, at least, the hardest tracks couldn't really get any more difficult except for that or adding in the orange button. Incidentally, one of them did add the orange button. Arterial Black has one orange note on medium, mixed right in with a string of others. When I first played the song I instinctively pressed the blue button and strummed since the note was on the right, then wondered what the hell was up with an orange note being present on medium. My brother did the exact same thing later when he played the song and I had to laugh since I wasn't the only one.

Anime Spice and Wolf / Ookami to Koushinryou
Desbreko replied to JazzLady22's topic in Otaku Central
I've seen the first two episodes and just from those two it jumped up to my third favorite series this season. (Only Aria and Zetsubou Sensei top it and those are both sequels.) It's been too long since I saw a really good fantasy anime but Spice and Wolf looks like it will fix that. I love the setting and the story that's been laid out so far and, of course, Horo is just a completely awesome character. I can't wait to see more. Agreed about the music, but the art is also beautiful. I'm not sure whether it's true HD or just an upscale but it's absolutely gorgeous in 720p. Even if there are a few negative tweaks from the manga I'd probably still prefer the anime because of the wonderful art and music. -
Oh god, hard mode is hard. Not only is there the orange button, it's also faster, uses way more split chords (as opposed to both the notes in the chord being next to each other), uses hammer-ons and pull-offs with three or four notes even in the early songs, and uses them so that you have to slide your hand in the middle of them. It's like they decided to turn the learning curve from easy and medium straight up into a vertical wall for people to slam into when they reach hard. About two hours in practice mode yielded an 84% on Heart-Shaped Box when I put it up to full speed. And that was one of the easier songs I tried. Getting through the game is going to take a while this time. :animesigh

Oh cool, I hadn't seen that. Ike looks good but slooow. It looked like his big hits had a delay on them, like meteor smashes do. And he's certainly no replacement for Marth. Roy, sure, but I still really want to see Marth return. Snake also looks pretty awesome, I can't wait to try him out. Kirby's final smash looks cheap as hell. But then, if they kept his move set the same as in SSBM (which it looks like they mostly did), I guess he needed something to make him not suck so bad.
-
Okay, the corrected version matches up. Recompressing it added more jpg artifacts but we'll go with it for now and if Ozy wants to redo a better quality version from the uncompressed source I can swap that in instead.

Zomg real gameplay footage up on Smash Bros. Dojo. Too bad Sonic is the only new character shown besides a tiny bit of Zero Suit Samus. For those too lazy to go view the page, they were doing a wifi play test between Nintendo HQ in Kyoto and the Tokyo offices where SSBB is being developed. Apparently the distance is about the same as between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. It's hard to really tell if there was any lag without actually playing but I didn't see anything obvious except for one time that I'm not sure of. When Mario gets hit by the bumper (at :40 on the match timer) I can't tell if there's a delay in him getting hit or if the bumper just landed in front of him and then he walked forward into it. Also of note: I don't like Sonic's voice when he taunts. However, the countdown at the end of the match and then the slow-mo effect after it finishes is pretty awesome.
ONOES. OZY'S GOT A THEME THIS TIME AROUND. Your colors don't match up with the previous piece, Ozy.
I use lol a lot. In fact, I notice that in AIM/YIM/MSNM/any Messenger, I use lol at least in every other IM. But why do I use it? I dunno lol. lol whoops. o shi-
This made me lol. And I actually mean that. :o When I first started visiting forums and using instant messengers I never used lol at all. Then some time after I joined OB and started chatting with various people from here I caught it and used it progressively more often. Then finally I realized that half the time I wasn't actually laughing when I used it and decided that was enough of that. I dropped it almost entirely except for times when I'm actually laughing and instead started using heh or ha instead; these are more accurate of what I actually do when something is funny but not enough to make me really laugh. Also of note, I stopped using as many smilies around the same time. I kind of decided I'd rather get my emotions across through writing rather than relying on them. Now I usually only use smilies when I'm being humorous or sarcastic. I still use lolz in stupid humor situations though. Like for the kind of stuff I'd roll my eyes or shake my head at with an amused sigh. For IM filler I always preferred the :p smiley though. Or just not typing anything at all and letting the conversation hang. That's always good too.

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
Desbreko replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
I'm finally getting around to watching Hidamari Sketch. I've seen through ep7 so far and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It's randomly cute and funny and weird all at the same time but without going especially far in any direction. (Well, except for the episode where Yuno was sick and having feverish dreams. That was pretty good.) It's been amusing, and omg Hiro is pretty and voiced by Yuko Goto no less, but I liked Pani Poni Dash! more. -
At the time I did consider that it might just start off slowly. But I had other stuff to watch instead that I knew I'd like and I'm not much a fan of shounen action series in the first place. I may get back to it eventually but at this point there are a couple series in my collection that I'd probably watch over again before that.
Huh? An extra equal sign and a forward slash?
He was trying to do this: Astro Boy ≠ Gay An equal sign with a slash through it means, "does not equal." But anyway.... I tend to know what I'll like and want I won't by reading about the anime beforehand but there have been a couple series I ended up dropping after only one episode. Those two would be Bubblegum Crises: Tokyo 2040 and Scryed. For both I was so bored through the entire first episode that I decided they weren't worth continuing.

Yay, I finally got Guitar Hero II on Friday. Two days later here and I've beaten it on medium with five stars on all but five songs. (Why are the 7th tier songs harder than the 8ths?) Once I five star every track I'm planning to move up to hard and get my *** kicked by the orange button for a while. I picked up on how to use hammer-ons and pull-offs today and damn are they nice. They've made some parts so much easier. I just wish they were a bit more conspicuous since it can be hard to see them on star power notes or when star power is active. Needs moar shiny, like I've seen in GHIII. Edit: Okay, played some more just now. Only one song left to get five stars on in the main game's tracks now. (And yes, it's Psychobilly Freakout. I got three stars my first time playing it and haven't gone back for more punishment yet.) Carry Me Home took about a dozen tries plus some time in practice mode but I finally got 94%, I think it was, and claimed that fifth star. I've barely touched the bonus tracks so far but most of them don't look too bad from what I saw while my brother was playing. Edit II: I can't believe I forgot to mention this twice but I named my band Peach Head and I play on Izzy Sparks, the guy with the big hair and, with the outfit I bought for him, a top hat. It's kind of awesome.
Well, that fight definitely took an unexpected turn. Is it to late to place a bet?
Yes. I already had to raid OB's treasu?er, "borrow" some money to pay off the bets. I would've tried extracting some from DB as punishment for losing on me but I don't think he has much. :animedepr

A lot of big corporations outsource manufacturing to foreign countries to cut costs. Singling out Wal-Mart for it isn't exactly fair. Besides, if they were forced to pay American level wages and raise their prices, that hurts the economy too. Yes, if they switched to American manufacturing it would create some jobs, but would that benefit outweigh a large portion of the population (particularly lower income households) not having as much money to spend due to higher prices? People with less money are people who don't buy as much and when people don't buy as much that slows the economy. (Hence the reason Bush is calling for a temporary tax relief right now and members of Congress are agreeing.) Unless I saw some good estimates pointing to the contrary I'd have a hard time believing the extra jobs would be better for the economy. Also, the Wal-Mart where I live is always clean, usually uncluttered, and their employees are generally polite and helpful. People who bash the entire chain based on bad experiences in only a single store are hardly being reasonable.
