2. That actually sounds kind of plausible. I, at least, do tend to like the sound of A names, or at least ones that start with a short A sound. I ended up using A names for my first two Guild Wars characters and have had to stop myself from using more for other characters so I'd have some variety. :p lolz @ DB for having a Mac.
 3. Aria is similar to Kaleido Star in its basic scenario. Both Sora and Akari are relatively new to their trade and are trying to establish themselves. The supporting cast also shares similarities, right down to both of them having two close friends, the obligatory cute little girl, and a pet. Plus Aria's art style reminded me of Kaleido Star, and I recognized a couple of the voices even before comparing cast lists on ANN. So it's like Aria takes those things and combines them with the pacing and mood—and cats!—of Sketchbook. I haven't really thought about which undine I like best, actually. Picking one on the spot, though, I think I have to go with Alice. (By the way, what's up with all the main characters having A names? I noticed Manabi Straight did the same thing with all M names, too....) I like the way she's calm and quiet but then never hesitates to tell the others they're being noisy. Both me and one of my brothers got some good laughs out of how absurdly similar Madlax is to Noir when I was watching it and he'd hang around in my room to catch an episode here and there. It was still enjoyable but I, too, liked Noir more. Madlax (the character) was cool but Kirika and Chloe were moreso.
 4. I thought the Soul Society arc was the best of the anime so far, actually. At least for actual plot progression; the intro arc before that where everybody is basically just screwing around while characters are introduced was fun but not much happened. Now, the Bounto (read: filler) arc after the Soul Society arc? That's boring. The whole arc can basically be summed up in this one phrase: Vampires fight using dolls. And it's as bad as it sounds. As for myself, I'm currently watching Aria the Animation. And I have to say, I picked the perfect show to watch after Excel Saga. It's calm and relaxing where Excel Saga is crazy and hyper, which provides a nice break. Aria seems almost like a cross between Kaleido Star and Sketchbook ~full color'S~ (disregarding the fact that Sketchbook is newer). Though Kaleido Star and Aria being directed by the same person and sharing a few seiyuus contributes to the similarity. At any rate, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. And Aria-shachou is just plain awesome. He may be my favorite anime pet ever.
 5. In 1999 I got into the Pokémon TCG when I was 11 years old; from there I got Pokémon Yellow on the Game Boy, then started watching the anime. (I still have a bunch of the season 1 episodes on VHS tapes in fact.) At the time I kind of knew it was made in Japan, since I knew the games were made in Japan and that the show was based on the games, but I didn't think of it any differently from other cartoons that I watched. So Pokémon was technically my first but at the time I didn't even know the word "anime" yet. A few years later, in 2003 I think, one of my older brothers started watching anime after we got a broadband net connection. (Yay for early fansubs.) That exposed me to Trigun, which I liked a lot and was responsible for getting me to watch more anime. From time to time I borrowed other series from him after that, including Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, FLCL, and the Ah! My Goddess OAV and movie. I tended to watch anime in bursts, watching a series quickly and then not watching anything for weeks or months. It wasn't a big hobby of mine yet and it wasn't until the Ah! My Goddess TV series began airing in 2005 that I started watching anime more regularly. I went through most of my brother's collection and then began building my own. Ironically, I've been on OtakuBoards since 2001 yet even with one of the site's main focuses being on anime it never affected my interest.
 6. I don't think the Anthology is even active enough to benefit from a directory. The search feature works plenty well enough in there, especially if you search by username to find people's older threads.
 7. At the end of Chrono Crusade,
Rosette's death was a one of the saddest for me. It was one of the few anime deaths to actually make me shed tears rather than just get a bit teary-eyed. Throughout the whole series it sort of made me think they'd find a way to save her but it never happened. And then the way they showed it, with just her and Chrono sitting alone on the porch swing as it finally hit home that she really was out of time and she broke down and cried.... I couldn't help but cry along with Azmaria and the others when they found her the next morning.
Air's
Misuzu
ranks up there on my list as well.
 8. Oh my goddess (lol get it?), that bunny girl one is made of pure win. I love how Konata is the only one not at all embarassed.
 9.
FF Chronicles and FF Anthology just arrived in the mail yesterday and day before. I put my love for graphics on hold for a bit to see what I was missing. (And to see what was so special about these games) I haven't started playin any of them yet. Besides different consoles/platforms and whatnot, what are the differences between these and their GBA/DS counterparts?
Load times mainly. The PS1 collections have horrible, horrible load times. They also have opening and ending CG cutscenes but that hardly makes up for it. The GBA versions are based on the previous Wonderswan Color ports of the games (released in Japan only) so their graphics and music are updated. Or at least FFI-FFV are; FFVI on the GBA is pretty much untouched in those areas I think, other than the audio quality taking a hit because it's on the GBA instead of the Super NES.
 10.
Phillia - I like little girls.
Fixed. Atychiphobia (fear of failure) The thought of screwing up at an important moment scares me. I'm not sure it would be considered a full blown phobia for me, but it can still scare the crap out of me and it has for a long time. All the way from fighting bosses in video games when I was little to midterms in college. But what frightens me even more is when the failure will affect others and not just myself. This has led me to either avoid difficult things altogether or work (and stress) very hard to make sure I do them right. There does eventually come a point of apathy where I just say, "Screw it," and stop caring after I've stressed myself out enough. But knowing this also scares me. Emetophobia (fear of vomiting) For something that has, up to this point, invariably made me feel better after it's happened, I seem to fear vomiting quite a bit. Stomach cramps, which I've experienced quite often and are much more painful, I sit through and think, "Okay, let's just get this over with as fast as possible." Yet for vomiting I will do everything I can to try and stop it from happening, regardless of how horrible my stomach feels. Nosocomephobia (fear of hospitals) This one is odd. I'm not consciously afraid of hospitals and there have been plenty of times when I've been in them (though not as a patient thankfully) and had nothing happen. Yet sometimes I'll be visiting someone in the hospital and I'll just start to feel very hot and then start to black out for no apparent reason. I don't feel sick or panicked or anything, I just randomly begin to lose consciousness. As for philias, none of the things on that list really fit me. However, I've got this even though I don't know the name for it (if there is one). Love of Escapism This is the reason I love video games, anime, and reading so much. I love looking into fictional worlds and learning all about them. Whether they're better or worse than the real world, they let my imagination run wild with possibilities that would never be possible in real life.
 11.
but i just find it really annoying because as i am typing this now, i am fighting with pop up's and closing them, then banning the sites with my pop up blocker.
Just so you know, you're going about that the wrong way. You should remove the source, not just block the symptoms. If you haven't seen it already, the [thread=56772]Arcade Technical Help[/thread] thread has advice for getting rid of spyware and viruses.
 12. Even so, Wario has more special moves besides the bike. And I'm guessing they had to make it hard to control in order to balance its extra power. Being able to mow down everyone on a platform at no risk looks like it would be akin to having a hammer the whole time he's in final smash form. People will learn to control the bike anyway, unless there's just too long a delay between getting on and when you can jump off. With good reflexes it would let Wario cover long distances crazy fast, which is a powerful thing especially for a heavy weight.
 13. Update: 11/29/07

Categories Added: Aria, Clannad, Kodomo no Jikan, Shugo Chara!, Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann
Avatars Added: Aria (21), Clannad (10), Kodomo no Jikan (11), Lucky Star (2), Shugo Chara! (16), Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann (16)
Some of these I added a while ago as I made them and didn't bother posting anything, but this sums up everything added since the last update post. . . . I think. For a few series I'm making avatars as I take screen shots from each newly released episode. Aria happens to be next on my to watch list, by the way. :animesmil
 14.
See, the thing is, the site itself says there's no significant boost to his power. I'm just going to regard it a Zero Suit Samus without a huge devastating attack beforehand until I find out otherwise or see him in action. From what I can see, though, he sucks. Oh, and rendering the bike as a suicide move? That I don't like at ALL.

Even after becoming Wario-Man, you control him as you normally would. And he doesn?t unleash any overwhelmingly powerful attacks. But he is able to negate a variety of moves and boasts some rather odd abilities...
I.e. he doesn't have any super attacks like the full screen explosions or guaranteed one hit kills that other characters have for their final smashes. Also, it sounds like he's invulnerable to some things. But it doesn't say he won't get any power boost whatsoever.
His special moves are also powered up, but the one thing you can?t do is ride his bike.
This means that at least his special moves have gotten a power boost, and the "also" implies other moves have as well.
 15. I'm going to love the control customization. No more accidentally jumping when I do up attacks and no more shielding instead of grabbing when I push the Z button! (Or at least it better fix that second one.) Heck, I might just map grabbing to the R button too since I only ever use L for shielding. I wouldn't be too quick to knock Wario's final smash. We have no idea yet about just how much of a power boost he gets. Bob-omb strength special attacks would be nothing to scoff at. Notice how fast it looks like the characters are flying after being hit by his shoulder tackle and bike in those screen shots?
 16.
ARGH... I fail at life. (Read: I caved and caught up on the 4:3 version of Clannad. :animecry:)
NOOOOOOOOO!!! My sexy Dagger has betrayed me! How . . . how could you? :animecry: In case no one got that, I've been watching Excel Saga. I had seen about half of the series (not in order, but episodes here and there throughout the series) back when the R1 DVDs were first being released and my oldest brother was buying them but I never got to watch the whole thing. Plus, since it's been years since then, I barely remember any of the details. But even though I don't remember any specifics, it doesn't seem as funny as I remember. There have definitely been scenes that have made me bust out laughing but they're pretty inconsistent. A lot of the time it doesn't go beyond a smile or a small chuckle. I'm not sure if it's just the nostalgia effect coming into play or if my taste in humor has changed too much. Also, I'd completely forgotten about this scene until I started rewatching the series. But I think seeing Excel get hit by that truck at the beginning of ep1 all those years back was another source of my habit of imagining that happening whenever there's a parting in an anime and a character is walking away across a street. FFVII's Palmer getting hit by the truck in Rocket Town and this seem like the oldest and most likely origins.
 17. It's hard for me to decide whether I liked the first or second season more. On one hand, season 1 has an inherent advantage in that it was fresh and new, but I also loved season 2's story just as much. I disliked Leon from season 2, but I loved May and there was also more of Rosetta. Plus,
the Angel Act is so much more awesome than the Legendary Great Maneuver.
Both seasons have their advantages. Maybe after I rewatch them and have a different perspective I'll be able to pick a favorite.
 18. I don't think any forum software is set up to handle user-specific skin customizations. At least none that I know of. Making a hack for it also seems like it would be horribly complicated so I doubt there are any available. People who use bright colors should be fine with the Indigo skin. Everywhere that people are able to specify the color of text they input, it goes on the same background color as the postbit here, which is the same color as the postbits on the other two skins. (Or it should. If you notice anywhere that this isn't the case, let me know so I can fix it.) The only exception is in quotes, which were made slightly darker to help differentiate them from the rest of a post. So anything a member posts won't be any harder to read regardless of which skin is used.
 19.
I'm mad that my recent thread with my list of 50 favorites is being totally ignored right now >_>
There, I merged them into one general anime music thread. (And ripped the recent posts out of that ancient thread of Adam's to stick in here too.) Also, watching that gif synced up to the beat of (I Just) Died in Your Arms is weird and hilarious, as I just found out.
 20.
You've linked to Roulette Roulette. However, all of your details relate to Kiiroi Bakaansu. What you have is oooooooooooo-MAHO! Either way, Kiiroi Bakaansu is awesome and I HAVE a gif of that dance HAHA!
Er, no, I'm talking about Roulette * Roulette. Kiiroi Vacances is also happy, fun, bright and bouncy but you won't find the line, "Rollcake Sunday, sandwich Monday," anywhere in it. Kiiroi Vacances also isn't nearly as catchy to me. And I mean a gif of Becky doing this dance, just to be clear: 98SE-tan is cute but I still like Becky more. I had a gif of it at one point but I lost it when my hard drive had to be wiped. Now I can't remember where I had found it. I've thought about making a gif of it myself but so far I've been lazy. If you do have it, I'll love you [strike]long time[/strike] if you send it to me.
 21. I didn't think Evangelion was all that great myself. Yeah, it's got the psychological stuff going on, which is kind of interesting, and you can analyze it all to hell. . . . But it wasn't actually very entertaining. (Though it probably doesn't help that I'm not a fan of mecha in general.) I can't blame her for not being interested in buying it. I have to recommend Kaleido Star out of the list you posted, Japan. I watched both seasons of it a while ago and was just utterly amazed at how fun and engrossing it is. No doubt I'll be rewatching it sooner rather than later. It's definitely worth owning.
 22. The Triforce symbol has been around far longer than the KKK. It's based on the family crest of the Hōjō clan. Just FYI. :triforce: Allamorph, I look forward to crushing your pansy red Marth. I will bring all of OB under the heel of my white supremacy.
 23. Hmm, favorite OPs? *goes down the list of anime I've seen* Whee, naturally alphabetical list! Angelic Layer - Be My Angel I find this song nicely catchy?it starts with a strong beat right from the start and makes me want to watch the whole OP, but doesn't get too tiring after seeing it episode after episode. It also doesn't hurt that the series is my second favorite from CLAMP, after Cardcaptor Sakura?I've always wondered why I never hear anything about it. Azumanga Daioh - Soramimi Cake Like the rest of the series, the OP is just weird. Again, very eye-catching start to its animation with the girls getting tossed in the air and Tomo getting crushed mid-air by the logo. The song is a bit mesmerizing in a way and the cut-out style of the animation is nice. Cardcaptor Sakura - Catch You Catch Me Unlike most of my picks, this one has as much to do with the animation as the song. The whole thing is just so incredibly cute and innocent and fits the series perfectly. I'd be very hard pressed to think of anything in anime cuter than Sakura on her roller blades, and if I managed it it would probably be Sakura in some other outfit. Seriously, this series makes me giggle in delight like a schoolgirl. Chrono Crusade - Tsubasa wa Pleasure Line I barely remember anything from the animation for this one but the song's stuck with me ever since I heard it. It's one of those that I thought was okay at first but then grew on me. By the time I finished the series I was humming it all the time and I still do occasionally. Devil May Cry - d.m.c This one's simply a badass instrumental rock track set to a stylish and equally awesome animation. Since it was made specifically as the anime's OP song there is no longer version but I still had it playing on loop all night when I first got an mp3 of it. Kaleido Star - Tattoo Kiss This is my favorite anime OP theme out of everything I've seen/heard yet. I know about 3/4 of the words to this one, and very nearly all of the words to the shortened TV version, just from listening to it so much?and I don't even know what most of them mean without looking at the translation! The animation it's set to is nice but I was always distracted by lip syncing to the song. :animeswea Lucky Star - Motteke! Sailor Fuku Sweet, sweet moe insanity. If there's a song out there to rival Hare Hare Yukai from Haruhi, this would indeed be it. The song, the dance, the cheerleading, the way it gets in to your head and forces you to love it, or forces you to love it more if you already do. Addicting is not a strong enough word. Pani Poni Dash! - Roulette * Roulette It's fun, it's happy, it's bright, it's bouncy! It made me randomly think of the line, "Rollcake Sunday, sandwich Monday," for months! And it has that awesome little dance that Becky does during part of the animation, which I can never seem to find a gif of. It's so very catchy yet I never seem to get tired of it getting stuck in my head. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - Hito Toshite Jiku ga Bureteiru I think I spelled that right. . . . It's an awesome song that makes me want to head bang in the dark while I watch the show late at night. And the animation is awesome to match. Very stylish and twisted like the series itself. Slayers Next - Give a Reason I've always liked Megumi Hayashibara, both for her anime roles as a seiyuu and her music. Slayers (one of my favorite animes), especially the second season, combines the best of both worlds with her playing the main character Lina and singing the OPs. Give a Reason is one of my favorite songs of hers.
 24.
Yeah, I figured as much. And I definitely agree with the Fusion Suit looking weird. Also, Des, you use KLAN LINK?!:o
Haha, yes, I always use the white skin whenever there's one available, with purple being my second choice. White Marth, white Link, purple Samus, purple Ganondorf; Mario is an exception because the classic reverse colors with red overalls and blue shirt/cap is awesome. I even use the white and pink skin for Captain Falcon. I'm going to love kicking the crap out of all the emo Dark Link players out there with my white tunic Link though. As if it weren't fun enough whenever someone makes fun of my color choice only to get slapped down by my white dress Peach.
 25. Since that would require using completely different character models I think you can count that idea out. All the other changes we've seen so far have simply been reskins of the same models (which looks weird for Samus' fusion suit) and I doubt they'd go so far as to not only do whole new models for one character, but the three-in-one for the Pokémon Trainer. Not to mention different character models equals different hit box locations, which could give some of the variations advantages over others. On another note, I get the feeling I'm going to be the only one playing the white tunic Link amid a sea of Dark Links.
