  1. [color=#4B0082]I broke down and got the first two episodes since there hadn't been any other new releases for a few days. Well, besides Bleach but that hardly counts anymore. . . . As I thought, the censoring—mainly of words—is freaking annoying but I still managed to enjoy the show. I can relate to the issue of struggling to be taken seriously as a kid, since I was always somewhat more mature than most kids for my age and it annoyed me to be dismissed simply because of my age. That side of the show really appeals to me. Rin, Kuro, and Mimi are also just a lot of fun. The scene in ep2 where Kuro bangs her head against the wall and other such moments kept me laughing quite a lot. The conveniently located rubber ducky was also good; that kind of censorship is so much better than giant boxes covering the screen. I'm really looking forward to ep3 and beyond. Making animated avatars is also fun.[/color] [img]http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/8886/kodomonojikan150x80rinacx5.gif[/img] [img]http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/7564/kodomonojikan150x80bubuzz5.gif[/img]
  2. [color=#4B0082]The thing is that all you'd have to do is use [imgmap=randomnamehere] instead of the normal [img] tag. You don't actually have to apply a map to the image for it to display, so it would be really easy to use it to bypass the restriction as long as you know the tag exists. I'll ask James about adding it anyway, but I have a feeling there'd be just as many people abusing it as there'd be using it properly.[/color]
  3. [color=#4B0082]Whenever I think of A_M as a moderator, the image of her taking Deus ex Machina over her leg and giving him a thorough spanking comes to mind.[/color]
  4. [color=#4B0082]Wow, first The Harlequin pops up in the Otakupedia thread, now Ravenstorture in here. Who's next, cloricus? :o Good to see you again. I hope you stick around for a bit.[/color]
  5. [color=#4B0082]I've stumbled upon the perfect theme song for this thread. Silicon World, by Eiffel 65. Listening to it made me think of this thread and then I couldn't stop laughing for the rest of it. Lyrics are attached:[/color]
  6. [quote name='Jeremiah']Can we have a tag that would make text in between it cycle through the colour spectrum? Or perhaps one that would make the text pulse with a bright light every three seconds. It's sure to keep people awake, especially when they're reading long RPG-like paragraphs.[/QUOTE][color=#4B0082][b]REJECTED[/b] :modrod:[/color] [quote name='Jeremiah']And finally, a [ color=poo] tag that turns text a nutty brown. Just for kicks and immaturity, you know?[/QUOTE][color=sienna]We have that already. It's called sienna.[/color] [color=#4B0082][b]Edit:[/b] I looked into doing an image map tag and, while it's possible, I won't be adding it. Due to having absolutely no control over how and where custom BB tags are used, people would be able to use it to bypass the one image per signature rule. Which sucks because it's something I would've liked to have added.[/color]
  7. [color=#4B0082]I tend to sleep a lot more than usual while I'm sick. Instead of 6-8 hours I'll usually sleep for 10-12 hours, though it'll often be broken up throughout the day. Other than that, I do a lot of the same stuff as usual. I'll play video games, watch anime, read, do stuff online, etc. Stuff that doesn't require much physical activity. Playing games that require tracking lots of movement with my eyes can be bad when I have a fever, though; sometimes it makes me dizzy and I end up having to lie down. In a way it's fun to fight it and keep going as long as I can but afterwards, when I'm lying there feeling even more sick than I was, I regret it. :animeswea[/color]
  8. [color=#4B0082]I have to wonder if the people in that church have ever actually read the Bible for themselves. :animesigh[/color]
  9. [color=#4B0082]If you're talking about the sparring forum, that got removed quite a while ago due to various reasons. Partly because of low quality spars, partly from disputes because there was no clear way to judge the winner, and also just because any spar that was actually decent could be put into the main RPG forum. It hasn't really been missed. If you're talking about something that was on theOtaku/myOtaku and not related to OB, I have no idea.[/color]
  10. [quote name='Aaryanna'][COLOR="goldenrod"][FONT="Comic Sans MS"]To Moderators and the rest of the staff: If you could drop your current post and have someone just as good as you take over, would you?[/FONT][/COLOR][/QUOTE][color=#4B0082]That would be impossible because there isn't anyone as good as I am. ;) But seriously, I like being an admin and I wouldn't give it up. Though, on the other hand, I wouldn't want to go back to being a moderator either. I enjoy working on the higher up stuff a lot more than dealing with spam, and after having already modded for years it would be terribly boring to go back to only that. Organizing and sending out minions to do the dirty work is so much more fun than doing it myself.[/color]
  11. [color=#4B0082]Yeah, I'm planning on watching this but not before uncensored DVDs are out. Censoring that heavy just annoys the crap out of me and I doubt I'd be able to enjoy the show as it is. I don't even really care about the fanservice (which usually just makes me lol if anything) but censoring it only makes it more distracting.[/color]
  12. [color=#4B0082]I sat at home eating pizza and candy, and watching the Ah! My Goddess OAV. Oh, and talking with Konata over AIM and laughing at how she got hot dogs left on her doorstep. But yeah, pretty boring; I usually don't do much, if anything, for Halloween. I haven't been trick-or-treating since I was about eight or so since my family is Christian and my parents can be a bit overzealous at times. I've gone to a few church-run "Halloween alternative" events over the years but, frankly, they were all pretty boring. When the highlight of the night is heckling the Lizzie McGuire Movie with your friends because there's nothing better to do, you know something has gone terribly wrong.[/color]
  13. [color=#4B0082]I also used to think "theater" referred to the building and "theatre" referred to the actual performances. But every dictionary I've looked up "theater" in has listed definitions for both the building and performances. So I don't think that's actually correct, even for American English. And for another point of view, the lack of ratings actually seems more natural to me since that's how it had been for years before they were instituted. Which, incidentally, was back when I actually role played regularly.[/color]
  14. [color=#4B0082]No, ep9 is still part of the first season. It has 12 episodes total, people have just been slow in subbing it. Season 2 starts in 2008. I've never seen so many peers in an anime torrent swarm outside of Dattebayo's releases though. There's over 2,800 in the ep9 swarm as I type this (200 more than when I started!), with just over 1,000 being seeds. It seems like there's more people watching it with each new episode.[/color]
  15. [color=#4B0082]"Fixing" this is basically just having the site rebuild the reply count and last poster info. It [i]was[/i] fixed when I made that edit but I can't really stop it from breaking again since I still don't know what's causing it in the first place. To make sure it's not just your browser, though, try holding in Shift (for Firefox) or Ctrl (for IE) while reloading the page to make sure you get a fresh copy of it from the server instead of using a cached version.[/color]
  16. [color=#4B0082][url=http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/various/various10.html][u]OMG OMG OMG[/u][/url] there's a level editor! And you can save them to SD cards! And send them over the net to friends! This paragraph needs more exclamation points! :animestun This has got to be the most awesome announcement for the game yet. Like the post on Smash Bros. Dojo says, it's going to add a crapload of longevity to the game. And the first two already had a crazy amount of replay value. I can't wait to start designing levels and also seeing what other people come up with.[/color]
  17. [color=#4B0082]That can be done using an image map. And I [i]think[/i] it could be converted to BB tags but it would require three different custom tags to be used in conjunction. It's a neat idea, though, so I'll tinker with it and see what I can do.[/color]
  18. [color=#4B0082]I actually did Haruhi by myself a while ago. Honestly, I thought it lost a lot of its humor the second time through when I already knew what was going to happen. I was kind of bored by the time I got through all fourteen episodes. :animeswea Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei sounds like a good choice though. I think I'm going to start a new thread to talk about which series people would like to do this with[/color]
  19. [color=#4B0082]omg... I've had that as my wallpaper (cropped 'cause I don't have a widescreen and it isn't big enough to fit across both my monitors :animecry:) since you posted it and I just now noticed that Minami is doing the rabbit ears thing above Yutaka's head. That along with her little grin is so adorable now. [b]Edit:[/b] Or maybe not. Looking closer, I think I see a third finger up there. . . . Whatever, patting Yutaka on the head is still adorable. :catgirl: [b]Edit II:[/b] Epic fail on the tournout for the Lucky Star marathon. Aaryanna, indifference, SunfallE, Shinmaru, and Rachmaninoff were the only ones other than me who showed up. And only Aaryanna was there for the whole thing. :animecry: I still had fun, though, so I'll probably do more of them in the future anyway. In other news, Lucky Star has apparently been licensed by Bandai. I haven't been able to find any official press releases or anything yet but I've been hearing they released a teaser trailer or something. And web sites across the net are pulling their fansubs (though you can still find them if you look hard enough).[/color]
  20. [color=#4B0082]I dunno, I can't really see much use for it. Most of the non-thread pages that get linked to often in posts (mainly the rules) are viewable whether you're logged in or not. And for user cp stuff it's more useful to tell people how to navigate there themselves rather than just giving them a link. It [i]would[/i] be really easy to make, though.[/color]
  21. [color=#4B0082]How my post was construed to mean that anime makes up for Japanese brutality during WWII, I can't even begin to imagine. But I'll refer people to a previous post of mine that I think is relevant to the situation:[/color] [quote name='Desbreko'][color=#4B0082]People who wouldn't know a joke if it slapped them upside the head are killing OB imo. Someone needs to make a "How to appreciate internet humor" thread.[/color][/QUOTE]
  22. [color=#4B0082]A form is what you type into on a web page to submit a post. A forum is a place for group discussion; in this case, it's the whole web site. So they're two different things. Also, I'm afraid we don't allow advertising threads on OtakuBoards, as stated in the [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/rules.php?][u]rules[/u][/url]. But feel free to keep the links in your signature and advertise your forum that way.[/color]
  23. [quote name='James'][color=#606060]The US influence on Japan was good, but I wish they had made it a condition of withdrawal that Japan acknowledge the horror she visited on her enemies. To this day Japan has not officially apologised. Australia (along with many of our neighbours) suffered greatly as a result of vicious Japanese POW camps. It would be nice to see their history books reflect this.[/color][/QUOTE] [center][img]http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/9575/chiyosorryiq8.jpg[/img][/center] [color=#4B0082]James, stop making Chiyo cry. :nono:[/color]
  24. [color=#4B0082]Yes, by using a div or table with the image set as its background. People already do that for some RPGs since HTML is enabled in Adventure Square. I don't think it would be wise to allow it everywhere through BB tags though, 'cause I just know people would put up huge wallpapers as their post background, like they do with their page backgrounds on myOtaku. Plus it's even more tacky and annoying than a color background when used poorly.[/color]
  25. [color=#4B0082]BB tags, also known as BB code, vB tags, or vB code, are the square bracket tags we use to add styles and layout to posts. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the basic ones like color, bold, etc. What these tags actually do is let us use preset HTML code in posts without allowing any and all HTML to be used. (For example, a right tag actually inserts an HTML div with the align attribute set to right but we can't add any other attributes to the div.) This means that most things that can be done with HTML and CSS can also be coded into custom BB tags for use in posts. In case you haven't noticed, we already have a number of custom BB tags, which you can see listed on the [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/misc.php?do=bbcode][u]vB Code[/u][/url] page. And as a side note, I'm betting most of you never even knew that page existed. :p So, to get to the point of this thread, are there any other features of HTML or CSS that you'd like to see implemented as BB tags? I've added a few since getting my leet admin powers, like the anchor name/link and horizontal rule tags, but if you'd like to see more then here's the place to make requests. And before anyone asks, no I will not add a text background color tag. It's tacky, annoying, and makes things hard to read.[/color]
