1. Really? There's a whole website devoted to OS-tans, with a large picture gallery of mostly clean images. The separate adult gallery is pretty small in comparison. ME-tan does not approve of your pr0n addiction.
2.
...bring 98-tan back to the screen (the one guy who understood that just shot milk out of his nose) and restart.
I don't drink milk but that's still pretty disturbing. Seriously, OS-tan hentai?
3. Awesome, I'm getting really excited about this. I hope there's a good turn out for the marathon. :animesmil By the way, the ED Album Shiraishi Minoru no Otoko no Lullaby CD with all the second season endings sung by Minoru was released recently. Of note is the full version of Koi no Minoru Densetsu?it is made of epic win. And the full version of Ore no Wasuremono is pretty good too.
4. Sure, they're including a lot of characters that people have been crying for, but isn't that the whole selling point of Smash Bros.? I mean, it says right on the box of SSB, "Duke it out as your favorite Nintendo characters." Adding other popular characters can only increase SSBB's appeal and attract more sales. Sonic's current personality is pretty lame, I'll agree with you there. But I don't really care, considering he's in platformers and now a fighter where such things don't matter, just like I don't really care that Mario is actually a fat plumber.
5. Wow, did you seriously just bash Sonic's inclusion because of his personality, Alex? Not a word about what we saw him doing during actual gameplay (ironically, he has the charge-and-roll move from the Genesis games), or anything else, yet you harp on his personality? I don't get you. lol Anyway, I think Sonic looks pretty awesome. From the few moves we got to see in the video it looks like he might be similar to the old Pikachu from SSB. In which case I will absolutely love him, especially if he can compete with Fox for speed. By the way, did anyone else hear that SSBB has been delayed until January 24, 2008, in Japan? And now the release date on Smash Bros. Dojo's English site has been changed back to TBD from the previous December 3, 2007, date. This makes the Des sad. :animedepr
6. This is why getting a locking doorknob for your bedroom door, even if you have to buy and install it yourself, is completely worth it.
7. Sometimes when I'm playing video games, watching anime or reading I become completely focused on what I'm doing with very little awareness of anything around me. It's actually kind of cool when it happens, though, because along with that heightened focus comes tighter reflexes (mainly while playing games), faster reading speed, and a sharper perception of details. I've nicknamed it trance, after the ability in Final Fantasy IX, 'cause I'm a dork that way.
8.
Ironically, the best OB inside joke stemmed from when Azurewolf started whining and crying because he couldn't see the OB Staff forum. Anyone remember that? lol It was awesome, indeed. Does anyone remember which thread that was in? Linkage?
I have the thread bookmarked: [thread=45377]Moderation[/thread], starting at post #40. I still find it hilarious that my nomination of the "Deal With This Member" Thread actually made it into the final Nifty Fifty. Edit OMG Charles has leet edit button hax. :o
9. Ironically, I've been posting more frequently during the last few weeks than I have in months, if not years.
10. Well now, the second season is over with and here I am wondering if there will be a third. They certainly left it open enough, especially with the completely random, out of nowhere bit at the very end. I won't spoil it but it was one of those things that made me go, "WTF? Are you serious?" By the way, I love it when Saito cuts loose and starts wasting people left and right. His,
"I will be the opponent of 70,000 men for a little bit,"
line was perfect.
11. You still find treasure charts, yes, although there doesn't appear to be a day/night cycle. So no random glowing rings at night, but you do get more rupees from killing baddies while sailing; anything they drop is automatically given to you. You can also fish while sailing if you find a fish shadow on the map, once you get a fishing rod. You use the touch screen to set the hook and pull back on the rod, as well as reeling the fish in. It's kind of like a simplified version of the fishing in the Wii version of Twilight Princess.
12. I've been playing more and beat the second dungeon today. The stylus control is definitely feeling a lot more natural now. They were smart and included button shortcuts (R or L) for your equipped secondary item which makes it a lot easier than toggling back and forth with the touch screen. It's really cool to be able to hold in L to whip out the boomerang or bombs and then just tap the spot I want to throw it at. Sailing is okay but simply being able to tap enemies to shoot them with the cannon almost makes it too easy. Plotting your course on the map is cool but there have been a couple times I've wished for manual control when navigating around cyclones. You can stop and go while following the course you have set but it's nearly impossible to do fine maneuvering around things. You basically just have to stop and wait for cyclones to pass by—and hope they don't start heading your way. The space between each island is not nearly as vast as in TWW, at least so far. And pretty early in the game you get the ability to use cyclone warp points that you've unlocked. It looks like people who were annoyed with all the sailing in TWW don't have anything to worry about there.
13.
...All the cool kids are watching it!!! *needs someone to spiel with*
Wait, wait, wait. So far it's me and Dagger waiting for the widescreen compared to you getting the 4:3. And you say all the cool kids are watching it? :blulaugh: Now that Dagger's with me my resolve is strengthened. We should form a widescreen followers support group.
14. I thought about doing that, like I did with Lucky Star (heck, some of those I watched three times as better releases became available—Guerrand, a.f.k., and finally EnA), but I don't know if I'll like Clannad enough to bother. I thought Air and Kanon were good but they weren't the sort of series where I'd want to watch each episode twice. We'll see how things go once I start watching it, though. I may cave and start getting the early 4:3 versions too.
15. Nah, Ike would still play completely different from Link even if his sword had similar hit boxes. Link is a mixed bag of long and medium range attacks due to his projectiles, while Ike looks to be purely a swordsman like Marth and Roy. Plus Ike's sword attacks will no doubt be very different from Link's. There's definitely room for both.
16. Um . . . wrong type of kanon. A cannon is what you shoot things with; a canon, or kanon as it's spelled here, is a type of musical composition. :animeknow On the subject of Clannad, though, I'm going to wait the two weeks for the 16:9 widescreen version to start airing. As much as I want it now, there's no way I'm settling for the reformatted 4:3 version.
17. I'm betting we'll see a Twilight Princess style Ganondorf, the same way Link is getting his TP makeover. (Wow, that sounds pretty bad when you use the acronym.) In which case giving him the broadsword he had in TP seems likely for at least one attack, though I can't imagine them turning him into yet another swordsman character. Honestly, I wouldn't miss Roy too much. His sweet spot being in the middle of his sword instead of the tip hurts him a lot, as well as not as many of his lighter attacks having the knockback power for comboing like Marth's do. About his only good power hits are his side smash and some of his side-B slashes. Speaking of sweet spots, I hope Ike's sword acts more like Link's than Marth's or Roy's, without as much reliance on hitting with the sweet spot. That thing looks like it should do plenty of damage no matter what part of it hits you, and it would make for a great crowd clearer.
18.
Though 8500 hours logged in Melee might have something to do with that.
Just maybe. lol You probably would wipe the floor with me, at least for a while, because I'm way too used to fighting the stupidly predictable CPU opponents. It always takes me a bit to get used to fighting real people again. Which is the biggest reason I'm looking forward to online play in SSBB. I'll be able to fight real people whenever I want instead of only on rare occasions when I can meet up with someone else who plays regularly. About Marth, I doubt they'd ditch him because of Ike. If anything I'd guess they'd replace Roy, since Ike looks slower but more powerful in the same way Roy is compared to Marth.
19.
You're trying so hard, man. I'm really sorry we're all such sticks-in-the-mud. :animesmil But seriously: what kind of publicity do we have?
Well, I do my part and link to OB on my YouTube channel and most other places I sign up where there's a field for "website." . . . Okay, yeah, no shame here either. But this is something James is looking into for OB Evolution; getting some advertising out there for OB, to attract more members. And I still laugh when someone says [strike]penis[/strike] Master Sword. IS THAT SO WRONG?! :animecry:
20. Serious matches tend to have more rigid rule sets but when you're really good at the game it can be a lot of fun to fight 1v1 against someone of the same skill level without anything to get in the way. SSBM is incredibly deep when you get into it and fighting a highly skilled player pushes your limits. It's different from casual matches where anything goes and you can just relax and do crazy crap (though it's also a lot different from Street Fighter), and it's not for everybody, but it's fun in its own way. Edit: Using Link wouldn't be as fun as trying out a new character. But using a new character and getting eliminated in my first match of the tourney would be even less fun. Also: If you get SSBB and have wireless access, Allamorph, we'll have to do Marth vs Marth some time since he's my best character in Melee as well. I've been getting really good at SHFFL'ing with him to chain air and ground attacks, and using his down-air move to pseudo-meteor smash people off the edge of the stage into the pit so that they can't recover. And yes, wavedashing comes with much practice; I'm pretty good at it by now but still haven't really mastered it. Here's to hoping they don't screw over his moveset. :animeknow
21. The setting, players, and options really determine the atmosphere of the game, though. If you look up some videos of tournament SSBM matches on YouTube you'll see people pulling off crazy combos you probably never thought possible, without items and on stages without hazards. When people take Smash Bros. seriously there's nothing random about it. Regarding the open tournament, I've thought about doing something similar when I get SSBB and I also thought of doing it when I first got SSBM. The thing that stopped me, though, was that Link, Mario, and others always have similar move sets as in the previous games. So people tend to stick with the old characters they know instead of jumping in with a completely new character and really not having any clue what they're doing. For example, you can bet I'd use Link in such a tourney and spin attack my way to victory. On the other hand, I would like to get friends together as soon as I buy SSBB and just do some free-for-alls. When you're having four way brawls and it doesn't matter whether you win or lose you're free to experiment. And then when you figure out something cool you get to mercilessly own your friends with it while they scramble to find a counter. It's hard to beat the satisfaction you get from that.
22. I just like watching love triangles unfold. They're especially fun when you get one girl with an attitude like Shana and another that's shy like Kazumi. I wonder if I'll finish the first season before subs of the second start being released. But then there's also the OAV and movie to watch as well. :o Edit zomg I did it. Series, OAV, movie, and specials before season 2 ep1 is subbed. Shana-tan is adorable—as long as she's on someone else's head. Edit Second Whee, I got the first episode of season 2! Too bad it's kind of boring if you've seen the first season. They did too much recapping of events in season 1 without actually explaining anything that would be helpful for people who started with the second season. It sets up for ep2, sure, but it felt kind of pointless to devote so much time to it. Still, seeing Shana and the rest in HD was a treat in itself. I love how more groups are starting to release full resolution (1280x720) encodes when a series is broadcast in HD.
23. Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel to TWW and it's pretty amazing how well it replicates the Wind Waker style on the DS. It's not quite as smooth because of the lower resolution and polygon count but other than that PH looks and feels just like TWW. After playing Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time not long ago, it really hit me how different the cel shaded style is compared to them. Aside from the graphics, the general atmosphere of the world and attitudes of the characters are also completely different. I like both styles but PH made me realize how happy I am to get another cel shaded Zelda.
24.
Des, interesting that you didn't like the first 2 eps, since they were, like, my favorite part lol. I was getting way into it - i think I remember it that way cuz Yuuiji becomes less interesting as the show progresses, but Shana remains consistantly awesome (I'm so getting a figure of her this week!)
I've seen through ep14 now because I have too much time on my hands. Shana's back story looks like it could be interesting. Yuuji never seemed that interesting to me to begin with. I think part of it is because one moment he was freaking out about being cut and then the next he barely reacted to learning he's actually dead already. The following day he just went with it like he barely even cared. Overall, his character doesn't seem very convincing. And his cheesy narration also annoys me. I think my favorite part so far has been watching Shana get riled up over Kazumi going after Yuuji. As well as that smartass book Marco.
25. Phantom Hourglass is finally out and I picked it up today. I haven't gotten very far yet, though I am off the starter island and have tried out the sailing a bit. My first reaction to the game was laughing at the terrible drawings of Link, Tetra, and the pirates used for illustration during the prologue. I will soon be scouring the net to try and find them so I can make an avatar and banner. But that's not really important. My second reaction to the game was feeling awkward while using the stylus to run around and do pretty much everything. I'm used to the control cross and buttons, I like the control cross and buttons, and I'm still wishing they had given us the option to use the control cross and buttons. Sadly, they did not, so I'm stuck with stylus control. But using the stylus does get more intuitive as you play because Nintendo did a really good job with the controls. I don't think it will ever be quite as fast or precise as the control cross and buttons but I can already tell that it will work well enough. I was running around hacking up ChuChus and rats without much trouble as soon as I got the sword, so once I'm used to it I don't think the stylus control will be a hindrence.
