1. I'd really need more specifics before I'd be able to help. . . . Have you ever been able to connect to the internet with your copy of ACWW before? Does it give you an error code or anything when it fails to connect? If so, what is it? Do you know if it can connect from other places besides your home network? And finally, what are you trying to do in the game when you attempt to connect to the internet? As for myself, I barely play the game anymore. I pimped out the main room of my house with the exotic and Japanese furniture, completed my bonzai collection, and made a rockin' lounge upstairs, then I kind of got bored. Redd shows up in town entirely too little?even less than in the original AC?so getting the rarer pieces of furniture takes for-freakin'-ever. Though if any of you guys get ahold of a Master Sword I'll pay handsomely for it. But if anyone wants to play online together just let me know and we can set up a time. It's still fun to jump back into the game every now and then. Especially if I get to show off my house and raid others' towns for dandelions. :toothy:
2. Heh, okay. Maybe we can set up an AIM chat or something while we watch and get as many people in on it as we can. That could be fun, since there's no one around willing to watch it with me. My only friend who's into anime found Lucky Star boring. :animecry: I've wondered if they might make another Lucky Star series in the future but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. And even if they do there still won't be any more for a while yet so it's still sad. Oh, and by the way, I found these while browsing around: Konata dress-up, Kagami dress-up. I haven't played around with them much yet but I'm sure there are some amusing combinations possible.
3. Sigh. . . . It's over. I watched ep24 last night. I had put it off for a bit because I knew it would be awesome yet sad at the same time, and it was. The show really went out with a bang and the episode was filled with everything that makes Lucky Star what it is. I thought the way it ended was perfect, in fact. But, you know, it's over; there's no more, and this makes me sad. I've decided, though, that once EnA finishes their releases (high quality h.246 encoding zomgyes) I'm going to do a Lucky Star marathon. All 24 episodes—nine hours of Lucky Star—in one day. It's going to be crazy, and awesome, and crazy awesome.
4. Oh man, I'm going to have so much fun with those short messages while whooping all you OB peoples. I just hope there's room for, "Fatty gonna," and, "beat you down!" Lag isn't really something you can prevent when you're connecting over long distances like that so, yeah, no surprises there. You can only optimize the net code so much and then it comes down to the mercy of all the intermediate nodes that the connection has to go through. Hopefully they'll give us options for regional and international match-ups for the "With Anyone" option, like with Mario Kart DS, since bad lag is a lot less likely when everyone's connected from within the same country.
5. I've been listening to a lot of Chrono Trigger remixes lately. In particular, The Incredible Singing Robot keeps getting played over and over. (Ozy, you're officially awesome for recommending this mix.) Robo's theme is pretty catchy by itself, this remix is even moreso. And it's got lyrics! And they don't suck! It's amazing, and if you've played the game the references are amusing as well. Spekkio the Brave, by Spekkosaurus Simply put, this is the Delightful Spekkio theme played on bagpipes. Yes, bagpipes. When I first heard this remix I kept asking myself, "Why was this made?" It just . . . doesn't seem right. Spekkio and his theme song are entirely humorous and lighthearted, and then we have these serious-sounding bagpipes blasting it out and drums pounding away in the background. It completely clashes with the original nature of the song, so much so that I just started laughing after a bit at the complete absurdity of it all. That, along with the remix just sounding really nice in its own right, has me listening to it fairly often. Crying Mountain, by Saiko This mix doesn't really do a whole lot besides improve on the original, but that's enough for me. Singing Mountain is one of two tracks on the Chrono Trigger OST that didn't make it into the game and I've always wondered why. Personally, I think it would've fit in perfectly during the scene where
Crono is revived
, instead of Far Off Promise. But anyway, Crying Mountain is a nice techno-ish version of the song that retains all the feeling of the original. Through the Dark, by DarkeSword I love the peaceful nature of this remix. It takes the original Manoria Cathedral theme, makes it sound way better, and keeps it from getting monotonous by mixing in some original melodies and some bits from the Wind Scene track. The piano and flute combination present throughout most of the song is great and the guitar coming in for the Wind Scene part really sets things off. Calamitous Judgment, by zircon A remix of The Trial in the same sort of techno/orchestral style as Triforce Majeure (one of my favorite Zelda remixes, check it out), the fast-paced and dramatic air of the remix is very welcome. The original, while I think it has a good composition, is just too slow and boring. Chronodyne Marine, by ambient This has been a long-time favorite of mine. The Undersea Palace track is great by itself and getting a nice electronica remix of it totally made my day. As djpretzel mentioned on the site, the synth guitar could be better, but I don't think it detracts too much from the remix overall. Edit: OverClocked ReMix released another album recently. Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream, like their others, remixes most of the game's soundtrack. I'm only a little past half way through listening to it (it's four CDs and about three hours long) but everything so far is wonderful. Any fan of the game or its music should do themselves a favor and check this out. I'll probably make a list of favorite tracks after I'm done listening to it. For now I'll just say I never would've imagined the Gold Saucer and Cid's Theme tracks would ever fit together so well. :p
6. I was around when it happened as well. I remember being surprised but it wasn't a big deal to me. As I remember it, most people in the staff forum thread basically went, "Oh, okay," and then things carried on as they had before. It was nowhere near the biggest bout of drama to hit the staff forum at any rate. I can understand the desire to create a separate online persona, though. It's basically the same thing as acting differently around certain people in real life, just easier to keep up due to the nature of the internet. And I think we all do that to some extent. I certainly made a conscious effort to act more mature than my age called for when I was younger, both offline and on. I still remember a specific time when I was about ten years old, watching two of my older brothers?who were then teenagers?fighting and causing trouble for my parents, and thinking, "I'm not going to be like that." And I wasn't, but it definitely didn't come naturally.
7. Your link is broken, The13thMan. It should be pointing to http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/10/061027-tarantula-video.html. Speaking of arthropods eating small rodents and birds, I found this article about a praying mantis eating a hummingbird. It's got pics, too: I'm torn between feeling sorry for the hummingbird and cheering on the mantis. I think it's pretty awesome that the mantis could catch something that big.
8. I've updated the directories and included sections for favorite threads. Go wild.
9. I can see adding generic favorite threads to the directories and just having a single thread for each. Stuff like, "What's your favorite villain?" or "What's your favorite game?" Ones that are always the same no matter how many times they're recreated. But I don't think we should sticky the individual threads. We already tend to have a few stickies in each forum and we don't want the list to get too long. Given all the different types of favorite threads that can crop up, it could easily start choking out the unstickied threads.
10. They unveiled the new My Music feature today, which is incredibly cool. Basically, it lets you choose which songs can play on each stage, and the likelihood of each coming up when you select that stage. But as equally exciting for me is this: The Dark World theme is finally being used! You've no idea how happy that makes me. It's one of my favorite Zelda themes in the entire series and I think it will fit perfectly in SSBB. Does anyone else have any favorite themes they're hoping to see used in SSBB? From the post it sounds like there'll be a few songs for each stage.
11.
Sit back, relax, and talk about anything not covered by another forum here.
Short, sweet, and to the point.
12. Retri has been really busy with school lately and hasn't had time to manage this, so for now I'll try to keep the list updated. vegeta rocker has been skipped, which makes it Darren's turn now.
13. Wait a minute. . . . You're saying people actually read the forum descriptions? Okay, so seriously, I don't have any problem with changing the description. James handles this sort of thing, however, so it's up to him. But I will say that I drink coffee a lot while I'm at my computer so that bit suits me just fine.

Hard Gay
Hard Gay was hilarious to me, but then after watching about five episodes I didn't find it as funny as before. I guess because I watched the best episodes first? lol
It really does depend on which clips you see. Some of them aren't that great and some of them are gut-bustingly hilarious. One of the best that I've seen is the Hiromi Go episode. Hiromi's kind of freaked out at first but then he actually starts having fun with it and goes along with HG's stunts. And the video of the Hard Gay version of Livin' la Vida Loca is just. . . . Well, it's best not to spoil it, but it's crazy?crazy awesome.
15. Not a single mention of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in here? There's something wrong with you people. . . . SSBB is pretty much the reason I bought a Wii, same as I got a GCN for SSBM. Yeah, I know there's going to be plenty of other games on it that I'm going to want, but SSBB has always been that shining jewel I've been reaching for. Especially if it supports online play, which I'm still hopeful for. I'm no doubt going to be spending hundreds of hours smashing away and pwning my friends in SSBB the same as I have in SSB and SSBM. Besides that, Super Mario Galaxy looks like an absolutely fantastic game. Every time Nintendo releases a new trailer it looks better and better and I have high hopes that it will surpass Mario 64. That's a classic I've played to death over the years, so you can bet I'll do the same with Galaxy if it measures up. It's been five years since we've gotten a new 3D Mario platformer and that's entirely too long. I'm not sure what to think about The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass yet. I haven't seen or heard much about it lately but it's gotten rave reviews in Japan. Supposedly the stylus-only control works well but I'm still skeptical. Stylus control for movement wasn't too hot in either Mario 64 DS or Animal Crossing: Wild World, so unless it's vastly improved I hope they give you the option to use the control cross and buttons too.
16. Eye of the North is an expansion rather than a new campaign so you can't create new characters in it. It requires that you have at least one of the three campaigns and use a pre-existing character. And only level 20 characters can take the quest to access GWEN areas I believe. If you're still playing through Prophecies, Gavin, you'll want to at least get up to Droknar's Forge and buy max armor (you'll be level 20 by then too) before heading into GWEN. There are only "elite" armors available in GWEN, meaning they have a fancy skin and each piece costs 10k instead of the normal 1k. Not to mention you need rank 5 in the proper title track for the crafters to even talk to you.
17. I looked around and couldn't find anything about that error code. Does it say anything else when it gives you the error or is it just the number? In other news, I'm loving the new skill sets that they've given the henchmen in GWEN. Being able to have two decent warriors, a warder elementalist, and a decent protection monk as henchies frees up my hero slots so I can bring both minion master and Spiteful Spirit necromancers plus a Barage/Go for the Eyes ranger/paragon. And then I play a Light of Deliverance healing monk as the last party member (Mhenlo can also fill this spot if you're not a monk), of course. I haven't found anything yet that I can't just roll through with this party setup.
18. You're right, games now just don't have the love that they used to.
19. I never got why people clamored to get the tormented weapons. The shield is probably the best of them but, honestly, I think they're all pretty ugly. Dark and twisted might match my personality but I don't want it to match my appearance too. ;) On my warrior I use Sunspear armor dyed silver, a Dual Winged Axe, and a Jaquii's Aegis (diamond aegis skin dyed silver). Though I'm hoping GWEN will add a warrior armor set that looks better than Sunspear when you dye it silver. All of the Prophecies, Factions, and most of Nightfall sets are too dark and the design of the Sunspear set doesn't quite do it for me. Speaking of Eye of the North, is anyone else here buying it? I got my access key last night in the GW online store, though I haven't actually been able to play it yet, other than what I did in the early access preview, since we had to wait till midnight. Over the coming weeks I'm going to be playing through it along with the guild and alliance I'm in but if anyone else wants to join me, just send me a whisper; my main character is Arik Desbreko.
20. I barely ever buy expensive weapons so I tend to have a lot of money sitting around for armor and other stuff. I mainly just use collectors' weapons, greens, or whatever decent golds I happen to find, though I do buy perfect mods to put on most of them. The only really expensive weapon I have is a gold, req9, inscribable obsidian skin earth staff which a guy who used to be in my guild gave me. Anyway, I think we'd best move over to the [thread=47552]Guild Wars[/thread] thread before we get too far off topic here.
21. My birthday is January 3 which I share with Panda here on OB. There's actually a little line-up of January birthdays for some of the well-known OB members, too. We have: January 2: Raiyuu January 3: Panda, Desbreko January 4: Ezekiel January 5: Bombu Lots of birthday PMs to be sent out at the start of the year! Off of OB, I also share my birthday with Cicero (a Roman statesman you might remember from history class), J.R.R. Tolkien (author of The Lord of the Rings), and John Paul Jones (a member of the band Led Zeppelin). And, of course, a bunch of other people listed on Wikipedia whose names I don't recognize.
22. If you want violence done with style I'd recommend Noir. Basically, it's about two female assassins trying to figure out their pasts and unraveling the story behind an organization that's been manipulating them. The storytelling is really great, showing you a bit more and a bit more of what's going on. And of course there's lots of shooting and stabbing as they kill pretty much everyone who gets in their way.
23. I'm watching Canvas 2 right now and enjoying it a lot. It's one of those animes that seems longer than it is because so much happens in each episode, yet doesn't feel rushed. It's a 24 episode series but it feels like it has the pacing of a 12 episode series, which I really like. But it's also not very episodic so, while I feel like I've been sitting there longer than I have, I want to see what happens next and don't get tired of it when I watch two or three episodes in a row. As a slice of life anime it rides heavily on its characters, which aren't bad. They all have their little quirks and I find them interesting enough. Hagino, the little writer girl, especially amuses me with her completely unabashed prying into others' personal lives to get material for her books. And I think I'm becoming an Aya Hirano fanboy; I love the voices she's given to all the characters of hers that I've seen so far. I'm also in love with the ED song, NA NA IRO. Its rhythm gets into my head and mesmerizes me so that after each episode it's a battle to choose between watching the next episode or stopping and listening to the full long.
24.
Wow! Really? How many sets of Fow do you have?
Only one, though with ecto and shard prices down I could afford a second and maybe even a third set if I wanted. I got my main character (a monk) a set back before Factions was released so I could get a +energy armor set without having to use tattoos. Though it's not a bad looking armor in itself, I rarely wear it anymore since I have a set of Ancient armor from Nightfall with +health insignias that I prefer now. I do have lots of other expensive armor, though. My elementalist alone has a set of Elite Flameforged armor, a set of Elite Canthan armor, and a set of Ancient armor (I spoil her more than any of my characters); my ranger has an Ancient chest piece and an Elite Drakescale leg piece as part of a mixed armor set; my necromancer has a set of Vabbian armor; and my assassin has a set of Elite Kurzick armor plus another mixed set with the Vabbian chest piece.
25. It's hard to say with some games, since they don't have in game clocks to keep track of your play time. It's also hard when you've played a game multiple times and you're not sure if it all adds up to 100 or not. There may be more that should be in my list and I just don't know it. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past I've played this game to death. While each time has never lasted me more than maybe a dozen hours, I've beaten it over a dozen times and spent even more time finding tricks and glitches and stuff. I know it like the back of my hand now. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time I'm pretty sure I've wracked up more than 100 hours on this game over a few times through it, especially if you count Master Quest too. Heck, hunting down all hundred Gold Skulltulas took hours in itself, though I've only done that once in OoT and once more in Master Quest. Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee Both of these games have a few hundred hours clocked on them. Melee is over 500 hours by itself. I just never get tired of these two and always find myself coming back to them. Brawl will no doubt be added to this list after it's released and I've owned it for a while. Super Mario World I'm not positive about having spent 100 hours with this game but I probably have. It's not especially long, but like with A Link to the Past I've played it over a dozen times and have also spent a long time finding tricks and secrets. It's one of the games I grew up with and still love. Super Mario 64 Another classic that I've played over and over and never gotten tired of. I always collect all 120 stars when I play it, which takes a while. Final Fantasy IV, VI, VII, X, Tactics Advance It's Final Fantasy and I've played all of these but FFX and FFTA multiple times (though FFTA has over 200 hours on my single file), so no surprise here. Though FFIV isn't actually that long compared to the others, and I can usually get through it in 20 hours, it's my favorite and I've played through it a few times. Pokémon Yellow It was my first Pokémon game and I was addicted for months. When Stadium came out and I could transfer my best Pokémon to the N64 cartridge I even restarted my file and played through Yellow a second time. Guild Wars I don't even consider a character I've created to be well established until I've clocked about 50 hours on them, so that should tell you something right there. In total I have about 3,500 hours of play time and I expect it to pass 4,000 by the time I'm done playing the new expansion that comes out this Friday. PlanetSide Probably no one here has heard of this but it's an MMOFPS (yes, FPS, not RPG) from SOE that I played for a long time before getting into Guild Wars. I spent a lot of time getting crazy good at sniping, to the point where I'd be part of a base defense and single-handedly hold off lines of enemy snipers on ridges overlooking the base. But picking off people as they tried to cross bridges was always my favorite thing to do.
