[color=#4B0082]Yeah, so I couldn't resist; I got episode 1 and just watched it even though I'm not done with Haruhi Suzumiya yet. It wasn't mind-blowingly awesome or anything, but if the show picks up as it goes I can see myself liking it as much as Azumanga Daioh. Which was quite a bit. The food-related conversation did drag on longer than I would've liked but it never got incredibly annoying for me. Maybe because I ponder the same sorts of little details like that? And there were some amusing bits to it, like the tariaki. I also liked the comparison to a caterpillar and the reaction to that, since I tend to make those sorts of comparisons. :toothy: The Street Fighter II reference was freaking hilarious though. I see the Konata vs. Foreigner screen and I'm like, "Dude, that's Guile!" Then it switches to the fighting screen and I bust out laughing as Konata uses Ryu's Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku. Konata's stance and animations are even the same as Ryu's. I know it's incredibly geeky, but that little sequence had me laughing for a good twenty seconds straight.[/color]

I'd had the idea for it ever since I saw that episode of Cardcaptor Sakura where Kero is eating the rice ball (I think that's what it is) shown in the gif, but I never got around to actually making it until now. I think it turned out pretty good. [color=#4B0082]For Internet Explorer: First, go to Tools > Internet Options and select the General tab. In the Temporary Internet files section click the Settings buttom and select "Every visit to the page" under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" and click OK. This will keep IE from showing you a cached version of the page even if there's a newer version on the server. Next, go to the Privacy tab and click the Edit button under Web Sites. Enter "otakuboards.com" and click the Allow button -- this will set IE to always allow cookies from OtakuBoards -- and then click OK, and OK again on the main settings window to save everything. For Firefox: Go to Tools > Options and select Privacy. Select the Cookies tab and make sure the "Allow sites to set Cookies" box is checked. Next, click the Exceptions button beside that and enter "www.otakuboards.com" and click allow, and also allow "otakuboards.com" and click Close. This will likewise set Firefox to always allow cookies from OtakuBoards. Next, make sure the "unless I have removed cookies by the site" box is unchecked, and also make sure that "until they expire" is selected in the drop-down menu below the check boxes. Then click OK to save the settings. Also, to force a page reload entirely from the server, hold in the Shift key while clicking reload in Firefox or Ctrl while clicking refresh in IE. Hopefully this will fix things. It sounds like a problem with cookie/cache settings.[/color]

Then I heard, "like Azumanga Daioh," and I was sold. :catgirl: It sounds like this anime was practically made for me -- moe girls, moe girls [i]who are otaku/gamers,[/i] random dialogue-driven humor -- I love it. Once I finish Lost Universe and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (next on the "to watch" list, 'cause I always hear it being praised around here), and there are more episodes out, I'll have to start on Lucky Star. In the mean time, I'm interested in hearing what other people think of it. I have hopes that it will be banner worthy, to replace my CCS one.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]It sounds like the disc drive might be dusty and needs cleaning. I'm not sure if drive cleaner discs would work in the PS2, but you can always try blowing it out. I've had to do that a couple times with my PS2 since it tends to sit inactive for long stretches and my room is horribly dusty. If that doesn't fix it, or unless it tends to glitch out in the same spot, I'd say it does sound like a hardware problem though. The graphics going funky like that usually means it's either a problem with the data being read incorrectly (dirty disc drive or scratched disc), the data being corrupted (system memory errors), or the graphics card overheating/screwing up in some other way.[/color]

Some range from startup icons (in the bottom right hand corner, next to the time, in Windows) that monitor your internet activity and pester you to download/buy things, others put toolbars in internet explorer or sit quietly and give certain websites information about your internet activity. Most spyware isn't harmful to your computer, just annoying and a waste of resources. There are two good programs out there that can remove spyware easily (I've included direct download links, these programs cause no harm to computers whatsoever and contain no advertising) - [url=http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button][u]AdAware[/u][/url] is a useful and easy-to-use spyware removal tool. After downloading, installing and then opening it, click "scan now". Unless you want to customise your scanning options (such as only scanning certain folders), click on "use custom scanning options". Otherwise, click on "perform smart system scan" and then "next" in the bottom right. After AdAware has finished scanning your registry and folders it will come up with a list of spyware programs it has found. Unless you think it's wrongly distinguished a particular file as spyware, right click on one of the little boxes on the left and click on "select all objects" and then "next". AdAware will then remove the spyware files you have selected. [url=http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html?part=104443&subj=dlpage&tag=button][u]Spybot Search & Destroy[/u][/url] is a little more advanced than AdAware, but in some respects better at finding spyware. [b]Note:[/b] If you have AdAware installed along with Spybot S&D - AdAware may 'find' spyware located in Spybot's folder. This isn't actually spyware, but records and backups (that don't work anymore) that Spybot keeps, so don't think that Spybot is a piece of spyware, as it's not. Also, if you have Download Accelerator Plus installed, Spybot will distinguish the adverts in the program as spyware. Deleting them will prevent DAP from working, so uncheck them after the scan. After installing Spybot, open it and click on "check for problems". Spybot will then scan and give you a list of the things that is has found on your computer as spyware. You can choose which you want to keep (such as DAP, if you want it to continue running) by unchecking the little boxes next to each listed file. After you've done this, click on "fix selected problems". Sometimes Spybot will try to create a system restore point. You can prevent this if you wish, but because Spybot detects registry exploits (which Adaware doesn't), it's advisable that you do to allow yourself a chance to restore should you get rid of the wrong file. [b]Virii/Worms[/b] I recommend taking both of these scans, as sometimes one or the other is unable to detect or clean certain virii. [url=http://housecall.trendmicro.com][u]TrendMicro's website[/u][/url] provides a free online virus scan which will require you to say "yes" to the download popup window that comes up, so don't be alarmed, it's just the scanning engine downloading part of itself onto your computer so it can run online. You can choose which drives on your computer you wish to scan, and the scanner can either automatically clean files of virii or you can choose to have it ask you at the end of the scan. [url=http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm][u]Panda Software's[/u][/url] free online scanner is pretty much the same as above, but as mentioned before, can sometimes find and clean virii that TrendMicro's scanner is unable to. It will also require you to download the engine onto your computer so it can scan online. You can select which drives you want to be scanned and if you the scanner to clean the files automatically or let you decide at the end. [b]Other Exploits[/b] As I'm sure a lot of people know, there are a number of exploits people have used to seriously annoy Windows users. First up is messenger, which brings little boxes up on your screen with only an "OK" button to click (while you're on the internet), and advertises a variety of things I'm sure you aren't interested in buying. To get rid of it, follow these instructions. [b]Note:[/b] If you have multiple Windows accounts, you need to be logged into the account that has administrator access (normally the first account that was created). Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Scroll down to "Messenger" and double click on it. Click on the drop-down box next to "Startup Type" and then click on disabled, then apply. Once your computer has restarted this change will take effect, and you will no longer get the pop-ups. Second is the worm, MSBlast, and it's many variations. It's rife on the internet, and most people with fresh Windows installs get it after logging onto the internet. If you get the NT/AUTHORITY dialog box telling you your computer is going to shutdown in 60 seconds, click on Start, then Run. Type "cmd" into the dialog and press enter, which should bring up a DOS window. Then, type "shutdown -a" (without the ""). This will get rid of the box and prevent your computer from shutting down, but your profile will be lost for the period that your computer is booted, preventing from doing small things like clicking once on a link to open a new window, among other things. However, this will give you enough time to go to the [url=http://www.windowsupdate.com][u]Windows Update website[/u][/url] and download the necessary updates to protect you from MSBlast. Also, if your computer does restart, press ctrl + alt + delete after you log on to windows and look for "msblast.exe", then end the process. Although, this will not stop the 60 second shutdown box once it has come up on your screen. Again, downloading the [url=http://www.windowsupdate.com][u]Windows Updates[/u][/url] can prevent quite a few exploits from occuring, but for virii and spyware the tools listed above provide excellent protection. You can also download a free firewall from [url=http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp][u]Zonelabs[/u][/url], called ZoneAlarm, but it has been known to cause crashes in some systems due it's use of the true vector engine. If you do download ZoneAlarm and start experiencing crashes (and think they may be related), right click on my computer, click "manage", then "Event viewer" and check the Application and System icons for "True Vector Service" errors with a big red 'x' next to them.

[color=#4B0082]I ended up seeing TMNT on opening day with a friend. (I just didn't get around to posting until now.) After having grown up watching the cartoons and live-action movies, as well as playing the games (mainly Turtles in Time on the SNES -- good beat 'em up), this one was basically what I expected. It wasn't amazing, it [i]was[/i] cheesy, the story wasn't anything special, but it was the same Turtles as ever. So I can't really say I'm disappointed. My main complaint is that most of the movie, until near the end, seemed really slow. There were some minor scuffles here and there but overall there was a big lack of *** kicking until the [spoiler]Leo vs Raph[/spoiler] fight. Or maybe I've just been spoiled by FFVII: Advent Children. . . . Either way, it seemed a shame that there were so few all-out fight scenes when the ones that [i]were[/i] there were so awesome.[/color]

You couldn't have absolutely everyone carry healing magic, and healing items weren't as effective, so your options for mid-battle healing were a lot more limited. That's where most of the extra challenge over CC came from. CT still wasn't that hard compared to, say, FFIV Advance (i.e. FFIV hard type), but I found it to take more planning and thought than CC. There, all I had to do was leave a few element levels built up at the end of each battle and carry the first two or three levels' worth of element slots full of healing on my characters, and I breezed through Terra Tower without a single problem.[/color]

[color=#4B0082]It's annoying how half the game's connections to CT are just sort of mentioned in passing. CC's story works pretty well as a stand-alone game, but it's really disconnected from CT until the end of the game. I didn't like that. On the other hand, I totally twinked out with the battle system (see my previous large posts on efficient use of stamina), and that kept me plenty interested. I found CC to be way easier than CT though. I don't think I ever died in CC, and only came close a few times. Being able to load up all three characters with healing elements, plus being able to use leftover stamina for free heals at the end of battle, meant I was running around with full health nearly all the time.[/color]
