Blasphemy! Confirmed today is that Link will indeed be right handed in the Wii version of Twilight Princess, as was seen at the Wii conferences. I'm actually surprised that they went ahead and did this, since Link has always been left-handed in all the previous games. And will having him be right-handed really make much difference? Unless they're making the sword control really, really precise, a horizontal swing is a horizontal swing any way you slice it.

I second that motion. If you're getting tired of PvE, try some PvP; it's a whole different ballpark. Unless you already have, I guess. I'm getting kind of bored with the current PvE content as well, so I've been playing more alliance battles lately, like Smurf mentioned. The recent assassin buffs inspired me to make a Temple Strike build, and wow does it rock. My kill/death ratio tends to be around 5/1 in most matches, and running around ganking people is great fun.

You won't have to buy a wireless router to get the Wii online. All you'll have to do is pick up an ethernet-to-USB converter so you can plug your network cable into the Wii. Simple and cheap as that.
From Wii.com: The Wii console communicates wirelessly with the Internet via IEEE 802.11 or a USB 2.0 LAN adaptor. Wii also can connect wirelessly with Nintendo DS.

With that being said, I haven't been keeping tabs on much either. So what exactly is Wii Sports? The maddens, Nba's, and whatnot? It's a 1st time for me hearing that type of talk. Because I don't hear people saying anything about sony sports, or microsoft sports...[/b']
Wii Sports is a collection of simple sports games developed by Nintendo and designed to be easy to pick up and play with the remote only. The game includes tennis, baseball, golf, bowling, and boxing. Here's the game's page on Wii.com. Anyway, I'm really excited now. The US is actually getting the Wii before Japan, just like with the DS! I didn't expect that. . . . It's going to be so hard to pry myself away from the Wii in order to study for finals come December. I'm disappointed about the price of the controllers, though. I wouldn't mind $40 for a remote and a nunchuk attachment, but selling them separately for a total of $60? That seems a bit unreasonable, considering GCN controllers were only $30 at launch and Wavebirds $40 new. Especially when a lot of games are going to require the nunchuk. I'm also disappointed that a classic controller isn't included with the system, though I won't mind as much if you can play virtual console games with a GCN controller. Ah well, I'll just have to wait till Christmas to pick up some extras. I'm sure Twilight Princess and Wii Sports can keep me occupied until then.

The problem with the majority of your arguments here is that you're complaining about options that you don't even have a choice about in GE. The fact is, you can turn off the less-than-great bots, you can take the overpowered weapons out of the match and create your own weapon sets, and you can ignore the secondary fire modes if you want to. But all the core features of GE are still there. So I don't see how you can argue that these extra things make the game worse, when you can set up a match in PD that is almost identical to GE. And, for the record, I happened to be very pleased with the fact that PD included bots. They may not be the greatest, but when I don't have anyone else around to play against--as is often the case--the bots actually give me something to do. They may be inferior to human players, as all bots are, but they're still better than nothing. I play GE and PD almost exclusively for the multiplayer modes, since single player never interested me much, so without bots I never would have bothered buying PD. As for the framerate slowdown when choosing a head/body combination, again, it's a menu. Framerate in menus doesn't need to be very high, especially when all you're doing is toggling through the body/head combinations. You're just nitpicking here. If there really are as bad of framerate issues during actual gameplay as you say, then that's a serious complaint. It has been quite a while since I played GE and PD, so you may be right. But I seriously don't remember ever having more of a problem with slowdown in PD than in GE. About PD requiring the expansion pak, you talk like Rare had a choice in what parts of the game to include in that 35%. They didn't. They were limited by what the system's standard memory could handle without the aid of the expansion pak. It couldn't handle the single player game--or at least not well enough for it to be playable--so they didn't include it unless you had an expansion pak. Again, I don't see the logic in bashing PD because it gives you extra options. They could have very easily made the game require an expansion pak to be played at all, but instead they let you play what the system could handle on its own. And it's not like they tried to trick you into thinking the full game could be played without one; they gave you a little chart showing which parts of the game required one, which I think was displayed on the back of the box as well as in the instruction manual. Now, if you want to criticise PD's less-than-great extra features, that's fine. But when you're comparing GE to PD and trying to say PD is worse because its extra features aren't that great, that doesn't work. Having extra options is never worse than no options at all, so long as you can turn them off so they don't affect what was already there.

I wanted you to visit the site to see it. Duh. :p I don't think you have much to worry about, though. Since the wheel is just a shell and there doesn't need to be any circuitry or anything in it they'll basically be able to make it as light as they want. Plastic doesn't weigh much after all.

This is N64 AI we're talking about. What do you expect from them? At least PD has bots, whereas you don't even get the option in GE. Weapon balance is relative and depends on what else is in your weapon set. A SuperDragon is no more overpowered than having a granade launcher and an assault rifle in the same weapon set in GE would be. You just can't do that in GE, so the situation never comes up. If you don't like the SuperDragon, don't put it in your weapon set, or else put more powerful weapons in along with it. The Farsight is meant to be a cheap-*** gun. Try putting all Farsights into your weapon set and having duels from across the level; that can be a lot of fun. Otherwise, turn it off, because it doesn't really belong in other weapon sets. I haven't played PD in a while, but I don't remember the framerate being any worse than GE. You are playing with an expansion pak, right? If not, get one and then take another look at the framerate. Oh noes, a small glitch in one of the menus. And--gasp!--you only get a head and body for character customization?! The horror! I mean, that's just so much worse than not having any customization in GE. I don't claim to be a great GE or PD player, but me and my friends never had any more trouble using Disarm than the normal hand-to-hand strikes. Also, it's not supposed to be easy to get in close when you're unarmed and your opponent has a gun; he's going to shoot you while you're running at him and then you die. Also see my above point about N64 AI. The only way they can provide any sort of a challenge is to cheat. Heck, even most current gen console AI is the same way. I've never experienced glitches with the weapon slots. Everything I put in the weapon set has always spawned, the correct number of them has always spawned, and their placement in the level has always remained the same throughout the match. Are you sure you don't have a faulty cartridge or something? It feels exactly the same as GE to me. Except it's easier to aim because you have an on-screen sight at all times. And guess what--a lot of the classic GE guns and arenas are even included in PD. Zelda: Majora's Mask requires an expansion pak to play the game at all, yet no one ever bashes it over that. The expansion pak got to be a pretty standard requirement for the biggest games in the last generation of N64 titles, of which PD is a part. This is like saying a GCN game sucks because you don't happen to have a memory card to save your files on. I'll continue to enjoy PD's multitude of multiplayer options over GE's rigid and inflexible match set-ups, thank you.
So. I just got this completely RANDOM email. So. Here you go, random loser. No makeup, 4-am, glasses, and bed head to the max. On the plus side, it provides a nice shot of my oh-so-lovely hair. And, really, I haven't changed much since March. Well, except for more facial hair which I'm also too lazy to shave off for weeks at a time.
The N64 joysticks becoming less responsive over time (even after a few years, much less ten) is a fairly normal thing. The vast majority of the joysticks I've seen are loose in the socket, and move when you tilt the controler (if you know what I'm trying to say). I suppose your controllers being in such great shape after so long as just a miracle given to you by the gaming gods. Be thankful for their blessing.
The control sticks on the N64 pads would always move a bit when tilting the controller, even straight out of the box. They all have a little bit of wiggle room, but it doesn't actually register as movement when you're playing a game. That's just how the sticks are. Over time, though, they do get looser until it gets to the point where it does register as in-game movement. My oldest N64 controller has a tiny bit of this. I don't even know how many thousands of hours of play time--and how many smash attacks in SSB--it took to do that, though. A damn lot, to be sure, and it's still perfectly usable; simply resting your thumb on the stick stops it from moving enough to matter. I think if people's N64 controllers are wearing out after only five years they're doing something seriously wrong to them. Sure, I'm way anal about keeping my video game equipment in good condition, but one of my friends . . . well, let's just say his stuff tends to be a lot worse than mine. (:p) And his controllers (his first party controllers anyway) always worked just as good as mine.

No, seriously. It's Nintendo. They've made very few pieces of hardware that haven't worked well--even after taking a beating. Also, weren't the cracks on the DS Lites purely cosmetic?

Wait, let me get this straight. You're asking us to make a prediction based off of absolutely no information, about something that's none of our business? . . . Why? Sorry, but this thread isn't going to go anywhere unless Derald wanted to provide more info about the situation, so that people could actually have an informed opinion. But, judging by his post, I don't think that's the case. Thread Closed
Actually, S-E is developing "Advance" remakes of FF V and FF VI to the GBA, as a continuation to FF I & II and IV Advance. But other than those, I haven't heard anything else coming to the GBA anymore...
I was refering to Nintendo not having any more GBA games in development. I know FFV and FFVI are still on the way from Square Enix. But I think those two are about all the system has left.
If you look at the official site, you can see that there is both an Evoker and a Summoner job, just like in the original game (Evoker was dubbed Conjurer in the fan-translation). Evoker is a weak summoner, only able to get random result from summoning, while Summoner has access to the more powerful attacks of the summon beasts (the latter style of summoning was the one that stuck with the rest of the series). So there, inconsequential FF trivia for you! ;P
Ah, I guess I missed that. I should read up on it some more.

I remember when OB was down for about a month during Summer 2002. I was working on ShineGet.com with James and Tony at the time, so I was still happy. And the AIM chatrooms were plentiful each night. But it was funny to watch all the little OB clones pop up during that time, then immediately die as soon as OB came back up. Be glad it wasn't worse, peoples.

Nintendo Power vol 208 arrived in my mailbox yesterday, and guess what the cover story is? Yep, FFIII. It's got a great six-page article on the game, and though it doesn't have much new info, it includes some gorgeous CG shots, some official art, and a bunch of new in-game screen shots. I decided to scan two of the pages to share. Aren't you lucky? Those two pages talk about the job system, which includes some about summoning. Included are screen shots of some classes which I don't think we've seen before, like Luneth as a Dark Knight (I think) in the first shot. As well, more comparison shots between the Famicom original and the DS remake. Everything's looking as great as ever. And then on the next page we have an absolutely beautiful CG shot of Refia petting a Chocobo. She's so pretty. . . . Wait, what was I talking about? Oh, right, there's also a shot of Shiva and some details about how summoning works. It looks like, rather going with the generic "Summoner" name, it'll be Evokers who will do the summoning. On page 39, which I didn't scan, is some info on how the game will make use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Apparently you'll be able to send mail to other players through Mognet, the moogle-based mail delivery service in the game, which can sometimes lead to the unlocking of sidequests. Nothing huge, but it sounds like a neat feature nonetheless.

Assuming production quality is equal, I usually prefer to watch a series' anime. Probably the biggest reason is that I like to actually hear the characters' voices. With good voice acting you can convey things that are hard to do with text, and it's another little immersion factor that helps me get into an anime. I don't mind fillers in anime series, so long as they're good. I mean, heck, one of my favorite series (Ranma ½) could be described as a huge series of fillers. Maybe 8 out of the 38 volumes of manga deal with the overarcing storyline, and the rest is a bunch of random--but funny!--crap that happens in between. So I'm fine with fillers as long as they're entertaining; each episode doesn't have to advance the plot in order to not suck. And finally there's the laziness factor. Yes, even though I almost always watch anime with subtitles, so I have to read the dialogue anyway, it still requires less thought than reading manga. Sitting and staring at a screen while an animation plays will always be easier than reading a book. :p

All I know is that the servers went down for a while. As for why, I'm still in the dark about that myself. I'd keep an eye on Adam's myOtaku page. He usually explains what happened when something goes wrong.

One of the biggest problems I see on people's pages is that they feel the need to use a 1024x768 wallpaper that's several hundred KBs large as their background. And then it doesn't even look any good since it doesn't tile at all well. Also, they feel the need to make all the background colors transparent so as to view said background image, even though it makes all the text on their site illegible. Steer clear of those two things and you'll have a page that's better than many out there.

I don't even really care about losing while viewing the thread, since I know that I've made so many other people lose because of it. I'm actually kind of surprised this thread is still active, though. You guys must be pretty bad at the Game.

Well well, Pearl and Diamond are starting to sound attractive. I may end up getting Pearl after all. (Yes, if I get one of them, it's going to be Pearl. Because pearls are prettier than diamonds.) I'm glad they're adding the day/night cycle back in, since I thought that was really neat in G/S/C. And if we do end up being able to trade and/or battle over WFC, I think that'll clinch it for me; being able to trade and battle with everyone else on OB would make the game a lot more fun. As for which start I'd choose, I've always like starting with the fire type. And, well . . . let's just say there's some history with me and monkeys. So I'm going to have to go with Hikozaru.
