1. Looking through the options, I can't find anything about this. So I think you're stuck with the pop-up, unless we upgrade to a newer version of vB and an option for it has been added. Besides, is it really that hard to click yes or no? Or just tap the Enter key? It takes maybe a second's time, and I, at least, find the message tracking to come in handy at times. Usually in regards to checking whether or not someone has read a warning sent to them. So if it were to come down to having a pop-up or having message tracking, the pop-up would stay.

3. I decided to look into this, since I remember there being a time when the "find all posts" thing would actually find all of them. Pre-version 7, I think. Turns out there's an option to limit the number of search results the board will display, which was set at 200. Not seeing any harm in raising it, I set it to 100,000; basically, something high enough that it won't be cutting any off. So you'll again be able to see all of your posts ever made through the find all posts link. Have fun dredging up the past, however noobish it may be. :)
4. Yeah, if you don't see it in time, it can be impossible to get far enough north before it floats out of the village. Always annoying when that happens. Oh, and there's finally an item list up on GameFAQs, so I'm now able to update my wishlist with what I am looking for: Exotic Series Exotic Bed Exotic Bench [strike]Exotic Chest[/strike] Exotic Lamp [strike]Exotic Table[/strike] Japanese Set [strike]Black Katana[/strike] [strike]Bow[/strike] Hearth Samurai Suit [strike]Tea Table[/strike] White Katana Bonsai Set [strike]Mugho Bonsai[/strike] Plum Bonsai [strike]Ponderosa Bonsai[/strike] Quince Bonsai House Plants Set [strike]Dracaena[/strike] Lady Palm Pothos Snake Plant Others Master Sword Triforce Timpanoid Mega Timpanoid Tall Timpanoid Metatoid I decided I'm probably not going to end up with enough room to use two full furniture series, so I'm not in much of a hurry to complete my collection of the Blue Series anymore. But I would like to get as much as I can from the Exotic Theme and Japanese Set as soon as possible, so I can set them up in my main room.
5. I might put my marker right on my house, but then I'd be afraid of a mob of fangirls converging on my residence early some morning and dragging me out of bed to do who knows what to me. :nervous:
6. This took me a bit to figure out, but in order to shoot a present down, you have to be at the far north end of town. As you run north, the balloon will get bigger in the sky, presumably as you move closer to it. After you get up there, then, you only have to aim a little ahead of where the present is. They don't move all that fast, so maybe one space in to the side of the one it's currently above. Other than that, it's just a matter getting the distance and timing worked out.
7. I also noticed an event like this a few days ago and deleted it. I'll have to start paying closer attention to the calendar events down there.

9. My first use for the internet was looking up screen shots of the yet-to-be-released N64 game Zelda: Ocarina of Time back in 1998. Yes, even before OoT was released, I was rabidly obsessed with it. What I saw in Nintendo Power and other magazine previews wasn't enough, so any time I was at the local library I'd try to secure one of their net connected PCs and pop over to Nintendo.com to see if there was any new info. A couple years later in 2000 I got a PC with a modem in my room, so I could get online in the evenings provided one of my brothers wasn't already connected. This was back when we had a dial-up connection. Again, I mainly used it to visit gaming sites; I remember watching trailers and gameplay clips from Zelda: Majora's Mask on GameSpot before the game was released. It seemed like it took forever to download the video files on my 56k connection, but I was a lot more patient with my connection speed then than I am now. Broadband really spoils you. Then I found the video game message board on Amazon.com. I forget why Amazon, but that's where I ended up, and I made some friends and had fun there. Though I think more was posted in the off topic thread in there than in all the others combined. I got bored of that eventually, and began hunting for a new forum to lurk about. After looking around various places, I remembered a site I had turned up during some Google search and actually bothered to bookmark. theOtaku.com . . . maybe they had a decent forum. Sure enough, down towards the bottom of the navigation column, there was a "Forums" link. I entered, and OtakuBoards greeted me for the very first time. Version 3 had only started about a month earlier, so the shiny new Virtual Bulletin forum impressed me; all I'd seen before that was the Amazon forums and some crappy proboard forums and the like. So I joined a couple days later, after looking around a bit. And here I am. :)
10.
Puh-please! I just added myself, being the third[/I'] European person on the map! :P
I mainly meant in comparison with the number of people around and south of the bay area. To my knowledge, I've only known one other person online who lived up in northern CA. It makes me think the people around here really are just a bunch of rednecks.
11. Can I choose the entire Final Fantasy IX soundtrack? The game is filled with wonderful pieces of music, and this is probably the best game OST I've had the pleasure of listening to. In the way of vocal themes, FFIX's Melodies of Life would be my top pick. I really like the gentle, flowing rhythm of the song. It has a very relaxing and cheerful feel -- perfect as the game's ending theme, and wonderful to listen to by itself as well. The translated English version is also really well done. For a straight musical theme, I've always been in love with the Dark World theme from Zelda: A Link to the Past. The sound quality might not be the best, being an old SNES midi, but the theme itself is quite solid. The orchestral version from the Zelda: Sound & Drama album, in particular, is amazing. It instills a very epic feeling of danger and adventure that far surpasses what the SNES could do with the original version.
12. You get Well of Blood from a quest out of Yak's Bend, so he should have it or be able to get it if he's at Borlis Pass. So personally, I'd go with something like this:
The Edge - Guild Wars Utility http://renobrothers.waynereno.com/ Class: Ranger / Necromancer Attributes: (cost) '+' indicates Rune attributes Expertise: 4+1 (10) Beast Mastery: 3+1 (6) Marksmanship: 7+2 (28) Blood Magic: 5 (15) Total attribute points used: 59/200 Skills: [Attribute] (Energy, Cast Time, Recharge TIme) 1) Power Shot [Marksmanship] (10,0,6) Bow Attack: If Power Shot hits, you strike for +16 damage.[Ascalon City (Sir Bertran); Quest: Ranger Test] 2) Distracting Shot [Expertise] (5,1,10) Bow Attack: If Distracting Shot hits, it interrupts target foe's action but deals only 6 damage. If the interrupted action was a skill, that skill is disabled for an additional 20 seconds.[Yak's Bend (Captain Osric); Quest: Charr Reinforcements] 3) Read the Wind [Marksmanship] (5,2,12) Preparation: For 24 seconds, your arrows move twice as fast and deal 8 extra damage.[Ascalon City (Sir Bertran);] 4) Predator's Pounce [Beast Mastery] (5,0,5) None: Your animal companion attempts a predator's pounce that deals +9 damage. If that attack hits your animal companion gains 17 health.[Grendich Courthouse (Taltosh);] 5) Blood Renewal [Blood Magic] (5,1,10) Enchantment: Sacrifice 25% max health. For 10 seconds, you gain +4 health regeneration. When Blood Renewal ends, you gain 90 health.[Ascalon City (Sir Bertran);] 6) Well of Blood [Blood Magic] (15,2,2) Spell: Exploit nearest corpse to create a well of blood at its location. For 12 seconds, allies in that area receive +3 health regeneration.[Lion's Arch (Firstwatch Sergio); Quest: Renegade Necromancer] 7) Comfort Animal [Beast Mastery] (10,1,1) Skill: You heal your animal companion for 42 health. If your companion is dead, it is resurrected with 23% health and all your skills are disabled for 8 seconds.[Ascalon City (Sir Bertran); Quest: Endangered Species] 8) Charm Animal [Beast Mastery] (10,10,0) Skill: Charm target animal. Once charmed, your animal companion will travel with you whenever you have Charm Animal equipped.[Ascalon City (Sir Bertran); Quest: Endangered Species]
The stats are assuming you have a +1 marksmanship mask and runes for your ranger attributes, by the way. If you don't have those, I'd definitely work on getting them. Oh, and in my experience, Penetrating Attack isn't really worth it that early in the game. Things just don't have enough armor to make the 20% penetration worth it over the extra damage of Power Shot. And, without higher expertise, you won't have the energy to justify having both in your line-up. Edit: I got a max damage, req. 8 longbow on a run into the new Tombs area earlier today, so you can have that the next time I see you in game. No mods on it, so it's nothing too special, but it'll be way better than anything you'll get around the northern Shiverpeaks area.
13. Now I can actually see how alone I am up in the northern half of CA. Yay. :p
14. Everyone say hello to the newest addition to the staff, r2vq. He's giving the Anime Lounge some much needed love. :) And Gavin's opening thoughts there echo my own. We're not understaffed across the board, but there are some forums which are. For example, whereas Anime Lounge didn't have any resident moderators until just recently, Otaku Lounge has three. So it's mainly just a matter of filling in the holes, which I'm now working together with James to do; you can look forward to seeing more staff changes happening soon.
15. I'll keep an eye out for a max damage longbow for you. I have a max half moon that only req. 8 marksmanship, but that's it in the way of spare bows right now. If you're using many necro spells, though, you might considering a recurve or composite bow instead of a longbow, though. Longbows have longer range than spells do, but if you're having to run up to cast anyway, there's not much point to the longbow's range, and the arrow flight time on recurves/composites are a quarter second less. I'd check the Missile Weapon Properties guide on Guild Wars Guru to see what would suit your build best. It sounds like you're spreading yourself kind of thin on attribute points, though. If you're going for marksmanship as your primary attribute, that's good for high attack damage output, but you'll still need some points in expertise or else bow attacks like Power Shot and such will drain your energy really fast. I might drop either curses or blood and put those points into your other attributes; a marksmanship, beast mastery, expertise and blood or curses build could work well. But spreading out across five attributes isn't really worth it. Marksmanship will give you good damage output from long range, using your bow. Beast mastery will both increase damage output from your pet, as well as making it a better melee tank. Expertise will lower the energy costs for your ranger skills, letting you throw out more bow and pet attacks. And blood magic would be good for healing, with things like Life Siphon and Well of Blood. (I'd personally go with blood, since Well of Blood would also be helpful for keeping your pet healed.) Or, alternately, curses would be good for yet more damage output with things like Mark of Pain and Barbs, which would be even better when used in combination with a pet, and also a bit of healing with things like Parasitic Bond. Oh, and out of curiosity, what kind of pet do you have?
16. Cool. I just planted a shovel, so I should be getting my second golden tool tomorrow. Speaking of which, I got a Golden Slingshot a couple days ago. Basically how you get it is just by shooting down presents. I don't know if it has anything to do with how many you've shot down, or how many in a row, or anything like that. I just saw a balloon with a tool box attached to it instead of the standard present icon. I shot it down and it was a Golden Slingshot. I'm really liking it, as it makes shooting down presents way easier. Instead of only shooting a single pellet straight up, it shoots three pellets. One goes straight up and the other two spread off to either side. So long as you come anywhere close to hitting with the center shot, you'll hit with one of the other two. And personally, I've found it harder to make money in Wild World than in the original. First, because you don't get as much from fishing (at least not in the winter here). Bitterlings are only worth 900 bells instead of 1,300, and they don't seem as common anymore. I've just turned to growing fruit for my income; I can make about 50,000 bells each day one of my areas of foreign fruit is available in a way shorter period of time than I can fishing. Second, the game seems a lot pickier about where trees will grow. There are some spots where nothing else is nearby -- open ground with at least two clear spaces in all directions -- and they won't grow. Or I'll have a line of trees, two spaces in between each, and one tree in the line just will not grow despite the surroundings being pretty much identical to the rest of the line. It seems really arbitrary sometimes.
17. The Super Toilet is actually a returning item. The GCN version had Toilets and Super Toilets. So far in ACWW, I've found a Super Toilet and a Men's Toilet (i.e. a urinal). How do you grow money trees in this one? And do they still have gold leaves? I planted a bunch of those in my AC village just because I liked the look of them. I know in the original AC they'd only produce three money bags and that was it.
18.
?I learned from the best,? Hevn replied, helping him to his feet. At the entrance to the dance floor, James and Desbreko entered; the lights were restored and the spam slowly began to fizzle away. Bits of debris cluttered the dance floor and the tables were still overturned, but neither of its occupants seemed to care. ?Now, I believe you owe me a dance.?
Well . . . if you read this bit the right way, it could be construed as either me or you speaking that last line, Jeh. ;)
19. Eesh, that really sucks. Talk about bad first experiences. But hey, at least you'll have an easy time getting fruit; after I get those pears, I'll have every kind in my village. Then you can come pluck my fruit any time. ;) I'll also have a Super Toilet waiting for you. :p
20. Random: I like the simplicity of the banner, that's my kind of style. There's not a lot going on, giving it a sharp focus. (Ha ha, get it? 'Cause they're eyes?) The cropping is good; the eyes are positioned nicely, and the hair on the right side fits well against the edge of the banner. It just needs a border. The text could stand to be improved, I think. It's hard to read (and not just because they aren't standard English characters), mainly because of the shadow effect. Having the gray in front of the white is somewhat disconcerting as the white naturally stands out better against the black background. Also, a bit of a black outline on the text in front would help set it apart from the shadow and make it easier to see. Another small detail would be moving it a bit to the left so that's it's more centered within the black area of the banner.
21. Sorry, but it's against the site rules to post links to copyrighted materials such as full anime episodes. So I'm afraid we can't help you. Thread Closed
22. Do you mean the first Wizpig race, or the second one? The trick to the first one is pretty much just making sure to hit all the zippers. I found that once I could do that, it wasn't that bad. The second race was really hard, though, until I found the best route through the track. Knowing where to go helps tremendously in that race, especially on the first lap. If you do things right, you can get ahead of him by hitting him with a missile just before going into the cave, I think it is, and then you can stay in first the rest of the race so long as you don't screw up. Using TT makes things a lot easier, but unlocking him is probably harder than just beating Wizpig on someone else.
23. Are you looking for some fatty loot? Need foreign fruit in your village? Good! Because I do too! Post up what you're looking for, peoples, and let's start trading. Friend codes can be found (and should be posted) in the Nintendo Wi-Fi Friend Codes thread. I'm currently looking for pieces of the blue furniture theme, the exotic furniture theme, and pears. I'll list what I already have; everything else in the themes I'll trade for. Blue Theme Blue Bookcase Blue Bureau Blue Cabinet Blue Chair Blue Flooring Blue Wall Blue Wardrobe Exotic Theme Exotic Bureau Exotic Chair Exotic End Table Exotic Rug Exotic Screen Exotic Wall Exotic Wardrobe
24.
Quantum Kabuki Troupe
The QKT, OB's official Guild Wars guild, is one of the best Otaku-related things to happen to me in a long time. Even better than -- dare I say it? -- becoming a Site Administrator here. Guild Wars is an awesome game that I've spent over 1,000 hours playing, and being in a guild with a bunch of friends from OtakuBoards here has made it even better. For me, there's just nothing else like gaming with friends.
Hardwired
Ah, my own little empire -- er, corner -- of OB. The gaming forums have always been the main reason I've visited OB, they were where I first began moderating, and I'll always call them home. They've been a haven for me, amidst the madness that are the Anime Lounge and Otaku Lounge forums. They have their fair share of ignorant fanboys/girls, true enough, but it's still hard to find a place where it's even possible to have an intelligent discussion about gaming.
What would Charles do?
I find myself asking this question more and more lately. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but either way, it usually ends up as something amusing. I put the :bdance: smiley on OB, for example, after asking myself this. Maybe he's not a perfect role model (he's still pretty damn good), but he is a lot of fun. So here's a shout out to the former administrator who knows how to have a good time.
Admin Control Panel
Anymore, I wonder how I ever did without it. There are just so many wonderful things to use and abuse. Such beautiful shades of blue. . . .
People who misspell my screen name
You know, all those people who spell it "Debresko," or something of the like. Yeah, I just wanted to point out the fact that none of them can read and retype worth a damn. Who loves ya, baby?
25. Baron pretty much summed it up. If we let people have multiple images even if they didn't take up much space, you know what would happen? We'd get people with a few really long animated gifs in their signatures, adding hundreds of kilobytes for people to download. And I know it would happen because I've had to remove images like that from some people's signatures when they stuck more than one in. So it's not just about the dimensions of the images, but also the file size. The same issue arises when you use an image in place of text. Text is miniscule in size compared to an image that takes up the same amount of space on the page. If a bunch of people had a banner and an image for their text, the size of pages as a whole would skyrocket and, as Baron said, make browsing OB on a 56k connection unbearable. So that's why we stick with the one image, maximum 500x100 pixels, rule. You can use that for text if you'd like, but you have to give up your regular banner for it.
