I'm not sure if this is upgrade-related or if it happened before the upgrade, but I've noticed that when you come close to the character limit in profile comments...OB cuts off part of the text (even though you're still under the character limit). It's kind of weird and confusing.
I'm not sure what's up with this. I can't even find an option to set the character limit for profile comments.
Yeah, there's truth to that too. I admit that there are some responsible fansub sites out there who take down their stuff when the series gets licensed. But still, there are way too many people who view the fansubs that don't share their attitude. A lot of people are content with having seen a series once and won't bother to buy the licensed product or they download them into their personal files for future viewing. In that case it's the viewers, not the fansubbers, who are abusing the system. Hence the damage is still being done.
I think it's rather absurd to expect people to buy every series they view fansubbed. For a lot of anime, there's no other way to view a series before buying it. (Props to R1 companies making more shows available for free streaming, or at least making a few episodes available as a preview, though.) I sure as heck am not going to blindly buy DVDs without knowing if I'll like the show, and I'm also not going to buy DVDs for a show I know I don't like that much just because I've watched it fansubbed. It doesn't work that way with TV or streaming viewers, and fansub viewers are no different. That said, I do like to buy the official releases of my favorite anime, or at least what I can afford of them, despite tending to have watched them multiple times through fansubs and/or DVD rips. For example, I have three copies of Lucky Star: A fansubbed version, rips of the R1 DVDs, and the official R1 DVDs themselves. By the way, where do these 2ch people think fansubbers get most of their raws? They should go look at how much anime is on Japanese p2p networks before they whine about American piracy. This sounds like a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

(If you can really call it a pot...) A friend of mine got one a while back and I'd mentioned that it was really handy after using it at his place. Getting good, loose tea leaves and letting them steep directly in the water is so much better than using tea bags. I'm going to get a ton of use out of it.
Cursive is not only dying but I've always felt like it NEEDS to die. Â I don't care how pretty a page written in cursive looks. Â The point of the written language is to clearly communicate to someone without using words. Â Most of the hen-scratch that passes itself off as cursive that I've ever seen makes this almost impossible. Â I always write in plain block letters. Â It may not be pretty since my handwriting has always been paniful to look at but it's clearly legible.
I can't agree more. Back in fourth grade, I thought from the very start that cursive was way more of a pain that it was worth and refused to use it outside of school. Even after learning it, I could still barely read my parents' hand writing. And now with computers so widespread, the only benefit of cursiveâ??being able to write a little faster than in plain printâ??is gone and replaced by typing, which is even faster.
In the future, everyone "writes" in Times New Roman or Arial (or Comic Sans if they're that person).
The future is probably Calibri, actually. :p

The menus opening upwards just means there's not enough room below them to display the full list without it going off the screen. By default, they'll open downwards if there's enough space, and if not they'll open upwards. Or at least that's how Firefox renders drop-down menus. The list getting cut off was a bug in the XL Basic skin's CSS, which I just fixed. Wet Paint wasn't affected. It looks like the custom emoticons that used the same file names as default ones got overwritten, so I think you will have to reupload the missing ones. IPB seems to be kind of dumb like this, as it did the same thing with default bb tags that I had customized. And yes, you can click the My Settings link in the userbar menu to edit all your profile information. Additionally, there's a big Edit my Profile button on your profile page itself that will take you to the settings page.

Okay, think I got the font size/color issue fixed. Let me know if you notice it being off anywhere else. Edit: There are some bugs with a few of the bb codes. I'm working on them, but if anyone notices something rendering different from how it used to, please post and let me know which tags are affected.

It's only been licensed for streaming (by Crunchyroll) as far as I know. Though there are always other places to get it if you don't want to stream it.
Do you mean they don't get them right because they are trying to pronounce them in the Japanese way and failing? Or is it that they pronounce them in the "American" way and that is incorrect? Ironically, when I see videos of American anime festivals and stuff...I notice that the majority of attendees don't seem to know how to pronounce Japanese words at all. And that's even amongst the enthusiast crowd!
Most of the time, they don't seem to even try to pronounce the names correctly. They usually get both the vowel sounds and the stress placement wrong. Obviously, I don't expect Americans to be able to pronounce things exactly the same as the Japanese, but it would sound a lot better if they at least got close instead of totally mangling them. And yeah, most fans are the same way. But I'd expect better from professional dub studios and voice actors. For the record, it makes me facepalm every time I hear someone say "o-nih-may" with the short O and I sounds. Especially when they hear me say it the proper way and actually try to correct me. Is there some weird disease afflicting everyone where we pronounce everything in the weirdest fracking way possible? Good gosh. I don't know anyone who uses the Japanese pronunciation of anime ('ah-nee-may'; we say 'É?-nÉ?h-may' because we're lazy), but we can't get a bloody short-I off our tongues. Pleh.
And this is why every single English dub voice actor sounds like an idiot whenever they say Japanese names. No one pronounces the vowels right.

The GCN controller is superior to the N64 controller unless you're playing a game that really needs separated C buttons or non-analog triggers. I got a SNES-to-GCN adapter that lets me use a SNES controller for Virtual Console games, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's N64-to-GCN adapters out there. $72 is a total ripoff, though. You shouldn't have to pay more than maybe $20 for an adapter.

The animation and music are pretty awesome, but the show as a whole didn't seem all that amazing to me. It was amusing enough that I'll keep watching unless it gets stupidly repetitive with its jokes, but it's not very high on my list for the season.

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?

I'm not a girl but you don't really need to be to relate to the characters, its just fun and quirky (random) awesomeness. Sakaki is my favorite character, next to Osaka. There aren't many guys in my circle who admit to liking Azumanga, saying it's a girl's show, but screw em I don't care.
That's ironic, considering Azumanga is classified as a seinen (adult male) anime/manga. -

To me it just looked like someone was trying to bank off Metroid's name and Halo's popularity. I've never imagine Metroid as an FPS, and even trying to play those games I just get irritated at the slow controls â?? and by that I just mean that FPS's just really aren't meant for console gaming, in my opinion. The Prime series would probably be a lot more enjoyable if it was made for a PC.
Well, the Prime series doesn't really play anything like Halo. For better or worse, the lock-on targeting system in the first two make them completely different from other FPS's. Can't comment on the pointer aiming in Prime 3 and the Trilogy collection, though, since I've not played those.
I think I remember reading that it's supposed to take place between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion (Other M even features a boss from Fusion, and my favorite one at that, lol). As to the complete chronology of Metroid, I have no idea.
Metroid/Metroid: Zero Mission > Metroid Prime > Metroid Prime Hunters > Metroid Prime 2: Echoes > Metroid Prime 3: Corruption > Metroid II: Return of Samus > Super Metroid > Metroid: Other M > Metroid Fusion You can get more details about the timeline on Wikitroid.

I'm a big fan of the 2D Metroid games and I really liked the first Prime game, but my interest in the Prime trilogy fizzled out after that. (Though that was due in part to annoying game design choices in Prime 2 and getting tired of auto-targeting. Maybe I'd enjoy Prime 3 more.) So, I was initially really interested in a third person 3D Metroid game. The more I see of Other M, though, the more doubts I have. Nintendo really just needs to make another 2D Metroid already.
