1.
Originally posted by CrH I think this should be in the General Tactics help thread but I'll give some advice anyway.
That is correct, it should have been posted in the original FFTA thread. Then again, it also seems it should have been originally posted in the Square Enix forum instead of the Nintendo forum. Threads Merged
2. Answer: Two, I believe; the two that were playing catch on that screen before. Question: In Majora's Mask, how many telescopes are there in the game that you can use and where are they?
3. The Legend of Zelda isn't too hard to beat on the first quest. You should try it on the second quest, though; it gets a lot harder. But anyway, let's try and keep this thread to the subject it was created for, eh? There are other threads for discussing the NES Zelda games and LTP. (Or if there aren't any recent ones, new ones can be made).
4. That's correct. I guess I'll just leave the question open, then, since it's also late for me and I'll be signing off soon. If anyone has a question, just go ahead and ask it.
5. Cloud6221, please try and improve your post quality. (Check out the OtakuBoards Information Center to view the forum rules and a posting FAQ). If you want to reply to threads asking what your favorite/least favorite thing is, you need to give some actual reasons for your choices, and "there all cool" isn't exactly what I'd call a good reason. Just give some specific examples of what you like about the dungeons and it'd be fine. Oh, and if you think A Link to the Past is hard, you should play the first two Zelda games on the NES; those are hard. But if you need help with LTP, I might be able to give you some tips. Either PM me, or post in this thread and I'll be happy to help if I can. ^_^
6. Still, I don't think it'd be worth $50. I mean, why not just get Double Dash? It's got new tracks, new features, modern graphics, all that. Sure, you don't get the tracks from MK64, but there weren't many in MK64 that, in my opinion, even come close to MKDD's tracks. The only ones that I miss, like I said before, are the battle mode arenas. All the tracks in MKDD are at least as good as the ones in MK64.
7. You'd actually pay $50 for a slightly modified version of MK64, even though you've already played it on the N64? ... If you actually would, you have way too much money to spend. Send some to me and I'll put it to better use. ;) Anyway, Mario Kart 64 was the first game that I got with my N64, so I played it and Diddy Kong Racing (which I got a little later) for a looooong time since I couldn't afford anything else for quite a while. Some of my best N64 memories resulted from MK64, in fact. Me, my brother, and one of his friends used to play battle mode together for hours and hours. Big Donut and Block Fort were the two most played arenas--I liked Big Donut, my brother liked Block Fort, and his friend liked both. The other two were also rotated between occasionally, though my brother had this annoying habit of getting way too many Stars on Skyscraper. >_> One player was also decently fun. I played through all the grand prix cups on all four modes, but multiplayer is what I got the most fun out of. I did also have a decent time on the time trial mode too, though. The staff ghosts in that one are hard. I agree with Semjaza, though; Mario Kart 64 really is the worst in the series, but it's still an overall good game. I'd say the best part of it is battle mode--the arenas in that game were awesome, and totally kick the crap out of the ones in Double Dash. Though I think that's about the only thing MK64 has over MKDD. But yeah...awesome game, just not up to par with the rest of the series.
8. I merged this with the other FFVIII thread that was dealing with storyline questions. Just so everyone knows. :toothy:
9. Dude, if you're seeing Mario in one of the textures, I don't think it was intentional, lol. But whatever. Answer: Koume and Kotake Question: Which one of the above sisters uses ice magic, and which uses fire magic?
10.
Originally posted by Desbreko I merged this with the other FFX help thread. In the future, please look through at least the first page of threads for one dealing with the same subject as yours before you post. If there is one, just post in it instead of making a whole new thread.
How many times do I have to say this before people actually notice? I swear, one of these days... :modrod:
11. Yeah, it's been February 9 ever since any release date was announced, I believe... And it's also been said a couple times in this thread, lol. Maybe you missed it. The thing about NP, and EGM too, though, is that you get the March issue at the beginning of February. (I don't know why, but it seems like magazines feel the need to date their issues a month later than they're released). So if you got the March issue and it had a strategy section on a game, it means the game is most likely already out or is coming out in the month before the issue is dated. In other words, a strategy section on Metroid: Zero Mission in the March issue probably means it's going to be released in February--which it is. Only 10 more days until stores around here get it in. I'm going to go reserve my copy either tomorrow or Sunday. ^_^
12.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel The game apparently contains the original NES Metroid game too.
Really? That'd be awesome; I still haven't beaten it on Metroid Prime, heh. Maybe I'll finally get around to beating it on Zero Mission, then. It's just such a pain to search out those last few Missile Expansions in the original...
13. Mario himself, or just Mario characters? If you mean Mario himself, Talon looks sort of like Mario; if you just mean Mario characters, Malon wears a brooch shaped like Bowser's head. Are those what you meant?
14. Yes, Zero Mission is a remake of the original NES Metroid, but it's not just a straight port with nothing but updated graphics. The same basic storyline and original areas remain, but other than that, it looks to be a lot different. Whole new areas, bosses, and power-ups have been added, and it also sounds like the story of the original is going to be expanded on quite a bit. It's not going to just be like replaying the original NES Metroid.
Nintendo.com "This February, Samus Aran will return to her roots and relive the story that started it all -- revealing for the first time full details of her meeting with the Metroids." "Samus Aran arrives on Zebes in an adventure that greatly expands on the legendary NES Metroid title."
So it is a remake, but it's actually a real remake instead of just a slightly enhanced port, like the Super Mario Advance games. They probably started from the ground up and recreated the old original areas and whatnot; I kind of doubt they started with the original and just made changes to that.
15. Question: What was the first game where Mario could do jumping somersaults?
16. The next thing you need to do is go to Magus' Castle. To get over to the other land mass that it's on, you'll need to go through a tunnel, the entrace to which can be found in some mountains on the eastern side of the continent you're on. (Just head right from the mountains where you got the Masamune). I don't think it brings up any text when you first go up to them, but just hit the button anyway and if you're in the right spot in front of them on the overworld you'll go onto a screen with a rock wall. Frog'll then cleave open the wall with the Masamune to reveal the cave entrance.
17. My favorite dungeon in Ocarina of Time has always been the Fire Temple. I just love how the Temple is set up, for both the layout and puzzles. Its enemies are fun to fight and well placed (how can you not love those fake doors?), and its boss is one of my favorites in the game. The Megaton Hammer is also lots of fun to play with in there. Much to my disappointment, however, the Master Quest version of the Fire Temple is actually less enjoyable for me than the original OOT version. In OMQ, you only have to go through about half of the dungeon to beat it since you get the Megaton Hammer and the Boss Key so soon. I think it's the only dungeon that I liked less in OMQ than in the original OOT. My least favorite dungeon is not, however, the Water Temple. I found the Water Temple to be annoying at times, but once you grasp the concept of how to really use the different water levels it can be pretty fun. One of the most annoying things about that dungeon, for me, is having to constantly switch between the Kokiri Boots and Iron Boots. I really wish they had let you assign a C button to your equipment, so you could cycle through just by tapping the button. The Dodongo's Cavern is actually the least enjoyable for me. I can't really put my finger on it, but going through the Dodongo's Cavern has always seemed sort of dull to me. It was decently fun the first time I played through OOT, but the second time it was totally boring. Then even when playing through OMQ, the biggest thing for me was just seeing what was different, not so much actually going through it. Even the boss of the Dodongo's Cavern is pretty boring; it's really easy to do it without taking any damage if you know what you're doing. Oh, and I know this isn't a real dungeon, but I thought the Gerudo's Fortress was really fun. It was kind of a stealthy part in the game, which was surprising--I'd never seen anything like that in a Zelda game before--and it was done quite well. And, for the four Gerudos that you actually had to fight, you had to have some decent sword fighting skills. It wasn't just hack and slash, like you can do with most other enemies in the game. (Plus, it was just fun to shoot the guards in the head with arrows and listen to them scream as they fell over, heh).

I come to this forum for the first time since the last time I posted here, and behold the number of posts on my forgotten thread. Ya, you guys can stop now.
Well, it's not like everyone that's replied is answering only your question. Other questions have been asked/answered, which makes up a lot of the replies. I like to have just one help thread per game, so this has sort of turned into the official KH help thread.
20. Answer: Bottle 1 - Gotten from Kotake in the Old Hags' Potion Shop after you tell her about Koume being wounded in the Woods of Mystery. Bottle 2 - Gotten after winning the Goron Races as Darmani. Bottle 3 - Gotten from Romani for defending the Romani Ranch cows. Bottle 4 - Gotten after beating both Beaver Bros. once. Bottle 5 - Gotten from Madame Aroma in the Milk Bar after delivering the letter from Kafei. Bottle 6 - Gotten after beating the Big Poe underneath the Ikana Graveyard on Day 3. 22. Yes, Adam is more up front and direct about telling you where to go... But he's also your CO. Then again, as Samus, you don't take crap from anyone. ;) My point was, though, that both Adam and the hint system do fundamentally the same thing. That is, they both tell you what needs to be done next in order to advance. The only major difference in actual function is that you can't turn Adam off. (And oh, how I wanted to a few times). Yes, Adam is more forceful in telling you what needs to be done next, but you can still ignore it most of the time. I will agree that it does change the feel of the game. Prime, to me, felt very different from Fusion. Fusion was set up differently than other Metroid games, but it kind of had to be in order to fit the story that was being told. Personally, I don't find the change in set-up bad, per se--like I said, I think I actually enjoyed Fusion more than Prime--but I will admit it somewhat changes the feel of the game. It still felt very much like a Metroid game to me, even with the changes, however. About the issue of linearity, you could really say that not even the original Metroid is nonlinear, if you take the meaning of the word far enough. After all, there are still items you need to collect in order to progress. You need either enough missiles or the Wave Beam in order to defeat Ridley and Kraid, you need the Ice Beam to defeat the Metroids in Tourian, and you need enough missiles to be able to defeat the Mother Brain (150 of which you get from beating Ridley and Kraid). So if you're going to use the exact definition of linear, you can't really call any game with a story nonlinear. In terms of videogames, however, I think the Metroid series could be classified as nonlinear. Yes, there are certain things you have to do at certain times to progress, so it's not completely nonlinear. But, you're also free to explore some rather large areas outside of the game's main mission; enough so that I think most people would call the Metroid games nonlinear. Sure, it's not the best way to describe the games, but it's concise, and it conveys a meaning that's pretty close to the actual truth. Anyway...aren't we supposed to be on the subject of Metroid: Zero Mission? The last five posts, including this one, haven't had anything to do with Zero Mission, heh. :whoops:
23.
Originally posted by Flashlight Koji Kondo is a wonderful composer :)
Hear hear! Most of his music that I've heard, I've liked in one way or another. The Legend of Zelda series features some of my absolute favorite music ever... Though I have to admit, I am just a tad obsessed with all things Zelda, heh. Besides Zelda music, I find the themes of Metroid Prime to be amazingly well done. The Data Selection Screen and Credits themes, which are very alike, have remained my favorite tracks in the game since the times I first heard them. The Vs. Meta Ridley theme, a remix of Ridley's theme from Super Metroid, is also another favorite. *hugs my newly acquired Metroid Prime OST* One thing that I find especially good about Metroid Prime's soundtrack is that every track in the game fits perfectly into the game. From the ominous theme that plays at the start of a new game to the triumphant Mission Final theme, each track fits the mood perfectly. And, a lot of the time, it even enhances the feeling of the game. I know for a fact that going through the derelict space station at the start of the game wouldn't have been nearly as suspenseful, and I wouldn't have been nearly as cautious going around every corner, if not for the creepy music. Another game that definitely deserves mention is Chrono Trigger. It has some wonderfully crafted pieces of music in it, and while I don't think all that many have as much an effect on the game as Metroid Prime's music, there are still some tracks that play heavily on the game's setting to create a sense of feeling. To Far Away Times, the game's ending theme, does this very well, I think. I found a few of the game's endings to be quite touching, and the music really helped that feeling along. To Far Away Times still remains my favorite theme in the game.
24. I merged your thread with the existing FFX-2 help thread, Marcus_Beuford. I also changed the title to simply "FFX-2 Help Thread," to make it more obvious that it can deal with any and all FFX-2 questions.
25. Well, where were you stuck in the Water Temple? Unless you give some more details, I can't really help, short of writing an entire walkthrough for the dungeon... And I don't remember that much about it. But yeah, tell me where specifically you were having trouble, and I'll be glad to help.
