1. PWNED, I'm positive that you've been around long enough to know that RPs should have a solid three-paragraph backstory at least. If you want people to get into your RP, then you should include a little more detail into your opening post, after all, this is the part that gets the target audience hooked, as well as the part that set the level of quality for the RP as a whole. Also, give a little more detail about who the characters the RPers will be playing are. Are they friends of the musician? Are they random people from around New York? You know the kind of thing I mean. You might also want to check your spelling and grammar before posting things in future. If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to send a PM to me or one of the other Arena Moderators. -Blayze
2. Alrighty, people, it is time: Sign-Ups Closed This means that I will not be accepting any more people signing up. However, I will not be making my decision as to who is in or out for a few days yet, just to give those people who have not quite finished their sign-ups time to complete them. So I am giving those people until Saturday July 1st to finish off their sign-ups, and then I will be making my decision. Thank you all for your continued interest, if there is anything you would like to discuss about this RP, please feel free to do so in the Underground thread. It's decision-making time!

4. Got it! Flan > Envy (film) > Christopher Walken > Pulp Fiction > Samuel L. Jackson I'm pretty hooked on this game now. Film noir > Diocletian Have fun!
5. Be honest, Revvy, it wasn't much of a doozy now, was it? Oligarchy > Authoritarianism > Dictator > Josef Stalin > Vyacheslav Molotov Although it did mean I had to find out who Molotov was first. Here is my second one: Stu Hamm > Aqua Regia Have a go! PS: By the way, for my last one, PaganAngel's route was completely different to mine:
Originally Posted by PaganAngel: The Who>CSI: Crime Scene Investigation>Trajectories>Force>mass>SI (International System of Units)
Whereas mine was: The Who > "Mod" lifestyle > Hippy > Vietnam War > 1973 > International System of Units I don't really know which one is better.
6. Unfortunately, Blase, my options in this matter are very limited. As I only want to have the characters I have listed involved in the RP, there is not much...wiggle-room. So, if you are not chosen for a part, then I'm afraid you will not be participating in the RP. I wish I could think of a way to have everyone involved, and if anyone has any ideas how I could accomplish this, then I'm happy to hear them, but for now it just doesn't seem possible.
7. This might be a little long-winded, but here goes: Miyamoto Musashi > Films > Hollywood > USA > Jazz > Miles Davis Here's mine: The Who > The International System of Units I did it in 6, including the starter and the finisher. Be warned, the finishing phrase is not actually mentioned in the link, it gets redirected.
8. Excellent. We will do well here. Here be my sign-up, and I will soon post the profiles of Hook and Smee in the Underground thread. Peter Pan Name: Peter Pan (usually goes by Pete, sometimes as Pan to his enemies) Gender: Male Age: 16 years Sexuality: Undecided as of yet - this is something he thinks about a lot, and is still unsure whether his preference is to girls or boys. For now, he settles with a little of both, hoping that when the time comes, he can make his decision. Appearance: Pete is a sullen, pale individual, who no longer spends much time on his physical appearance. He's not entirely bothered any more, he barely emerges from his tree-house. His pale skin is in stark contrast to his jet-black hair, which falls ever so slightly over his face. The only break in colour is the deep crimson streak in his fringe. His general attire when inside his tree-house is very little. He wears a pair of tight black jeans with black leather boots, and nothing else, aside from a slightly over-bulky metal necklace around his neck, which has become tarnished with age and perspiration. He has cuts and scars all over his upper body, and he says he has "one for every sin he has committed," which is a few. As for his actual build, spending weeks at a time in his tree-house with negligible supplies and very little exercise, he has become somewhat scrawnier than he was before, his muscles almost wasting away. But he seems healthy enough to others who see him (which occurs very rarely). Personality: Peter Pan is often thought of as a sprightly, happy-go-lucky creature, always looking to have fun with his friends. The reality is very different. Pete is a young teenager, and, as such, being stuck in Neverland, he is constantly in puberty, never allowed to grow fully into a man. This is the reason why he cannot decide on his own sexuality, and also the reason he is constantly brooding, always stuck up in his tree-house, just thinking. If he is honest with himself, he can't remember much about his life before he was taken to Neverland, and he isn't entirely sure if he wants to. He knows there was something in his life that made him come to Neverland, but what this was, he wasn't sure. When he arrived in Neverland, he was the bright young thing he is often described as, but over the years he has almost become reclusive, often staying within the confines of his tree-house for weeks, trying to fill his life with some meaning. He has become extremely disillusioned with life and the meaning thereof, and has often resorted to self-harm in the past. Biography: Pete remembers little to nothing about his life before he reached the Neverland theme park. He vaguely remembers his mother's face, but nothing of his father. He knows he spent fourteen years of his life on Earth, but of those years, he remembers nothing. He has been in Neverland ever since 1978, when it opened. For he was the first to be taken by Captain Hook, taken into the safe, secluded world of Neverland. He remembers when he first set foot inside the theme park. The smiling faces of those workers, happy to see him, to give him free candy, free drinks, rides, anything he wanted. But those memories have become warped to him now. He watched as more and more children were let inside Neverland, and as more and more parents waved goodbye to their offspring, he gradually came to realise that he would never see his mother again. He knew something was going on, that Hook was trapping these children inside his theme park, but he never said anything. He was too afraid. Finally, after weeks of taking on more and more children, Neverland disappeared from the mortal realm, and Captain Hook took the children with him. He attempted to make them into slaves, the same kind of slaves he made the poor people who worked at Neverland, but he wasn't successful. The children's minds were not developed enough to accept the brainwashing, and Pete and the others made their escape, fleeing into the forests. For a time, Pete led the Lost Punks, as they came to be known, in a long fight against Captain Hook and his Pirates. But it soon became clear that the Punks had neither the manpower nor the experience to take on the Pirates, so they gave up, deciding to live in relatively peaceful co-existence with the Pirates. But every so often, a Punk goes missing... Pete himself, once the life and soul of the party, withdrew into his tree-house, only emerging every couple of weeks to collect food and other supplies. He is still liked by the Punks, or those who still remember him, that is... Vices: Pete has countless vices. He is prone to self-harm, casual violence, and drinking whenever he can get his hands on any liquor (the Punks often steal copious amounts from the Pirates just to feed Pete's habit). However, his primary vice is one of the biggest taboos. He is, like many other fourteen-year-old boys, obsessed with sex. He is also attracted to various of the Lost Punks, including Tiger Lily. Useful Items: Pete has a switchblade in his belt, which he uses for cutting various things, including wood, food and himself. He also owns a small satchel, into which he puts anything he thinks might come in handy one day. This means he has various items on his person at most times. Notes: The Lost Punks are currently thinking of holding an election to decide on a new leader, as they feel that Pete is not pulling his weight sufficiently. Keep on bringing me those sign-ups. The closing date for them is Monday 26th June, that is next Monday. So hurry up if you want in. Revelation, as well as finishing your sign-ups, could you also fix the links to your appearances? I can't seem to access them, it says that access is denied.
9. Beautiful, both of you. Thank you both so much. I believe I will use Dream's set for now, although I may switch and use yours at a later date, cancer. Thank you both very much.
10. Hmm, interesting... Well, there are definitely a few people I'd like to meet. Jokopoko: I seem to talk to him a fair bit on MSN, and he seems pretty awesome. We're both into kinda nerdy things like X-Men, Doctor Who and the like, and we both live in the same country (although how fair apart we live I've never really bothered with asking). He also tends to whoop me at online games, so I'd like to see if there's anything I could return the favour with in real life. But Will's a good laugh. Sakura: I used to talk to her a little on MSN, I've kind of fallen out of the habit now, which is kind of unfortunate, but she's definitely one cool gal. Also a venerable giant in the RP circuit, so I'm sure she's a good'un to talk to. Sandy: Definitely one of the coolest members of OB, this guy was twisted enough to keep OB Survivor going for six months or something, so I'm thinking that shows a lot of integrity and devotion. Both excellent qualities in people. Zeke: I have her on my MSN contacts list and keep meaning to talk to her more, but I never seem to get the chance. I found out from my "Who Are You" thread a little while back that we both have a fair bit in common, and I think we'd get on even better considering we are both the same age, and live in the same country. Gavin: Purely because I love the Irish. Dare: a damn fine RPer, someone with an imagination to match mine, and another one I have on my MSN contacts list but never really talk to that often. I reckon she'd be great fun to hang out with. Cygnus: Not that I've talked to him much or anything but he seems to share my love of extravagant instrumental prog-rock. Come to think of it, I'd quite like to meet any of the musical members of the OB. Abel: Ah, the many-named man of OB. Also a fantastic RPer, and a good laugh. I'd also quite like to find out what's with all the name changes. There are a few others, I can't really think of them at the moment. I would say Raiyuu, but I've met him already (extensively, if you know what I mean ;)), and I would also say Dragon Warrior, but he seems to me like he would be kind of annoying in real life.
11. Welcome to the Tree-House This is the Underground thread for my newest RP, Neverland. It is here that you can post any questions, queries, ideas and suggestions you have about the game, the sign-up forms, the general mythos behind the RP world, anything you like. This is also where any and all out-of-character discussions will take place once the RP has started. I am not expecting any OOC posts in the actual game thread. Characters This is where I will post the character list as it develops, as people sign up. Peter Pan - Blayze Contenders: Tiger Lily - cancer John Darling - Starwind, Ezekiel Tinkerbell - Hinata Original Lost Punk Character - Revelation (Slightly) Wendy Darling - Blase, Dhampir Michael Darling - silver_blade But remember, these are only the contenders for each place. You can challenge these people if you think you can make a better sign-up for them. Locations There are a number of locations which you will need to know about in Neverland, and as they appear I will post information about them in this section. However, as of yet, there is only one place you need to know about: The Tree-House The Tree-House, a structure built from hard, sturdy wooden planks, is essentially the powerbase of the Lost Punks. However, when I say "powerbase," I mean "place where the Lost Punks hang out." The Punks have no particular agenda which they follow, and mostly spend the day doing what they please in and around the Tree-House. The Tree-House is simply a collective name for the large number of tree-houses there are, gathered around a single, large oak tree. Within this tree-house resides Peter Pan, the leader of the Lost Punks. Below this is a slightly smaller treehouse, where the beautiful, mysterious temptress Tiger Lily lives. Around this central tree-house, there are at least fourteen or fifteen other tree-houses, all linked together either with rope-bridges, or simply long pieces of rope used to swing between trees. The other Lost Punks live here, with the size and quality of the tree-houses varying from the upper ranks (the first Lost Punks to join) to the much lower ranks (the most recent additions to the team). Groups Thus far, there are only two groups present. The Lost Punks and the Pirates. This is where any information about various groups in the RP will be posted. The Lost Punks These are all the children that Captain Hook has collected from the mortal realm. He attempted to use them as slaves, but they broke free of his command and became a rebel group, opposing him. However, they soon realised that there was much more fun to be had lying around, relaxing, than there was fighting Hook. They are led by Peter Pan, the very first child to be stolen from the mortal realm by Hook. He is a strong-willed young man, more of a teenager than a child now. He alone has the courage and the strength to lead the Lost Punks, but in recent years he has lost his devotion to the cause, and now spends his time relaxing, trying to fill a void in his life with anything he can come across. They have access to various weapons, but they are simply small weapons, catapults, slingshots, knives and the like. Only Peter and a few others even have the skill necessary to use these weapons, so a full-scale uprising against Hook would be futile. The Pirates In the beginning, Hook's Pirates were the men and women who worked at the theme park. However, once they began to steal children from the mortal realm, some of them turned against Hook, seeing this as disgraceful, obscene behaviour. So he brainwashed each and every one of them to become his own private army, used to keep the Lost Punks in order. The only memeber of his staff that didn't try to desert him was his chief financier, a subservient man named Smee. He served Hook completely of his own free will, no brainwashing required. He has since become Hook's most trusted advisor, although he has a treacherous side to him. They have access to weapons such as tazers, buzz-batons (which are essentially tazers in truncheon/baton form) and long knives. Their equipment is very much scavenged from throughout the ages, from every time zone they have existed during. This means that they have weapons such as swords and axes, as well as more modern weapons such as tazers. Other Information I will post any other information I feel is relevant here, if it doesn't fit into any of the above categories. Chapters This RP will be played in chapters, but, for the most part, they will be non-structured chapters. This means that, although there will be certain objectives that need to be completed in each chapter, there will be no posting order, meaning that anyone can post any time they like, although in some cases I may place posting restrictions on people I feel are posting more than others. --- That's all the information I can post at the moment, if there are any questions I haven't answered with the above information then please feel free to ask them.

Neverland Never grow old. Never grow up... --- Neverland. A place of fantasy, where dreams come true and you will never grow old. A beautiful, magical land, where children are free to run and play as they please. Everything your heart could ever desire is in Neverland. Come to Neverland. ---
Originally Posted by The Guardian Newspaper, December 17th, 1998: "The runaway success of the early days of Captain James Hook's next-generation amusement park, tentatively named "Neverland," was soon overshadowed by a number of mysterious disappearances. The first 100 children to receive a ticket to Neverland were taken to the island paradise, and they were never seen again. Parents and guardians are still distraught, even to this date, twenty years after the grand opening of Hook's miraculous new theme park. Captain James Hook has long since vanished into the seams of society, and, having been an elusive man to receive an interview with even before the opening of Neverland, he is now even more elusive to the governments who are trying to apprehend him. However, even stranger than the disappearance of Hook was the disappearance of the island of Neverland itself. It seemed that mere weeks after the grand opening and the disappearance of the first 100 children, the island itself vanished from the face of the Earth. Information given to us by the promoters of Neverland told us that the island was located somewhere in the North Pacific, but when a search was carried out, nothing was found in the co-ordinates given. This led to Captain Hook becoming an international fugitive, wanted by almost every government across the globe, and Neverland becoming a rogue nation, a sovereign of its own. Even to this day, Neverland has Never been found."
--- 28 years ago, in the summer of 1978, a new theme park opened. It was the biggest thing to happen since sliced bread, and the biggest unveiling since the television. A former Navy Captain, James Hook, opened a brand new theme park, made especially for children. In fact, it was so specialised that adults were not permitted to set foot inside the gates of this new park. Hook explained this by saying that he had always had a deep love for children, and that adult supervision takes all the imagination out of being a child again. But then, the parents waiting outside the park gates for their children to re-emerge from the park, were waiting for days. And when their children were not released from this theme park, they took a complaint straight to the government. But, by the time an inquiry could be opened, Captain James Hook and his theme park had vanished, taking with it the first one hundred children to step through its gates. The government gradually came to forget about the tragedy of the Neverland incident, moving on to bigger and more imminent threats, wiping the name of the infamous child-snatcher James Hook from public records. But there is always that tiny, niggling doubt whenever a child goes missing... --- Welcome to Neverland. This RP is a new twist on the classic fairy tale of Peter Pan, taking the story and modernising it, and adding a dark twist to it, just as the 2004 movie of the same name did. There will be a huge number of bizarre twists in this little tale, but let me lay out the background for you: You will be playing as characters who existed in the original Peter Pan stories, but with backgrounds matching the dark genre of this new story. I'm talking the Lost Punks, drugged-up rock chick Tinkerbell, drag-queen Tiger Lily and anything else you can possibly imagine. James Hook, a former Navy Captain, owns Neverland, once an amusement park where children never grew up, now a mystical island that cannot be found by any adult. Characters I will be playing Peter Pan, the leader of the Lost Punks, myself. The other characters I am looking for are as follows, in order of importance: Wendy Darling John Darling Michael Darling Tinkerbell Tiger Lily Original Lost Punk character (I will only allow one of these to be created) I will be PMing each player selected with what their main roles in the story will be. For instance, Tiger Lily's main job could be to seduce Peter away from Wendy. Wendy's main job could be to fall desperately in love with Peter, and try anything to impress him. Whatever it is, I will be expecting you to work this into your posts, either subtly or blatently. Captain Hook and his cronies will be NPCs, played by me, but I will allow some players to take control of any of these characters (ie Smee etc.) at various points in the story. During these times I will ask said player to post a profile for each individual extra character that will be played. Anyone using that character after that time will need to adhere to the original player's profile. --- Rules 1. This is very much a team effort. As we are all playing characters on the same side as each other, you will all need to work together, and READ EACH OTHER'S POSTS. I cannot stress enough the importance of reading each post carefully and adhering to what the previous player has written. 2. Quality is very important in all of my RPs. I expect each post to be of a decent quality, and, despite what many people think, I will also be looking for quantity. But don't take this too seriously, I only want posts longer than about three paragraphs each. 3. Although I have said, on many different occasions, that this RP will be fairly sick and twisted, you need to have some boundaries. Remember, these are kids. I'm not expecting sexual violence in any form (apart from in your biographies...twisted backgrounds = twisted kids) and I don't particularly want graphic descriptions of violence and gore, unless it is crucial to the story. 4. Foul-mouthedness is almost encouraged, as these kids are all essentially juvenile delinquents. The odd swear word is bound to pop out, but I don't want endless streams of filth coming from these kids' mouths. No-one likes to read that kind of thing, it just puts people off. If there is a special reason for a particularly long stream of filth emerging, such as a character in immense pain or some such situation, I will allow swearing, but please put it in spoiler tags, just to give people the option of avoiding reading it, as many people are offended by it. 5. I'm really looking to have as few out of character discussions as humanly possible. All questions, queries and afterthoughts should be posted in the Underground thread, which will be up soon. 6. Not so much a rule, more of a request. If anyone wants to make some graphics up, or get someone else to do it, and then send them to me, this would be fantastic and you would get shed-loads of brownie points. On another note, HTML is acceptable in your posts, just don't expect me to use any 7. The most important rule of all: HAVE FUN! --- If there are any questions I have not answered, then please either PM me or post a question in the Underground thread, which I will be creating shortly. Enjoy creating your twisted characters. Sign-Ups Here's the deal with sign-ups. I am used to getting a fair amount of them, and I don't want to trawl through millions of them, so usually I read the ones that stand out to me. If you make your sign-up pretty, there is more chance of me reading it. However, that doesn't mean that I will automatically accept you if your sign-up is nice-looking. I am looking for quality of writing. Originality is also a big plus. If I read the same kind of thing over and over again, then I am not as likely to accept those sign-ups. If I read something different, then it will stand out to me, and I am much more likely to pick you. However, again it is not a given that you will be accepted. Finally, please don't use things just for shock value. Don't make a character who was molested as a child without it having some kind of emotional impact on them. These are real humans we are playing, with real emotions. Give your characters some depth to them. Here is what I will need from each of you: Name: Gender: this can be anything...literally...male, female, transgendered, cross-dresser, anything you like, the weirder the better Age: remember these are all kids, but when I say kids, they can be in their early teens as well Sexuality: Yes, they really are screwed-up kids Appearance: picture, detailed description, or both will get you extra brownie points Personality: as screwed-up as you like Biography: same goes - this is your character's life before they reached Neverland, and after, in the case of any of the Lost Punks or Tiger Lily Vices: what is your character's weakness? This can be anything, as twisted as you like Useful Items: Anything useful your character might carry with them. In the case of the Lost Punks, this would be any kind of primitive weapon, slingshots, knives, clubs etc. For someone like, say, Wendy, this could be a handbag with a can of Mace in it or something of the sort. Use your imaginations. Notes: anything else you might care to mention There can be more than one person signing up for each role, and I will be choosing the best sign-ups for each of them. When you are making your characters, think of this as doing for Peter Pan what James' "Wonka Inc" did for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It may not be too nice, but its damn fine entertainment. I will most likely create an Underground thread for this, but if you have any questions before that, just PM them to me and I will try to answer them.
13. Thanks, Retri. I forgot that people need to be told exactly what needs to be done ;). Ok, I think the maximum size for the banner would be 500x200 pixels, just to make sure it fits in a thread without messing the formatting up. As for the avatar and banner set, normal OB size restrictions apply. Hope that gives you something to work with. EDIT: I no longer need the main banner for the threads...I found out that the picture I had was about the right size anyway. However, the avatar and banner set would still be quite nice, if you could. Thank you.
14. Alrighty then. First off, thank you all for your interest. It has really helped my creative juices to flow, and I think I've come up with a winner, which I will elaborate on later in this post. Secondly, why does everyone keep saying "Welcome Back"? I've barely been gone from OB for the past year or so. Or is it the change of username? Because I've had three different usernames since I started here, but now I've gone back to my original because I liked it best. Just curious is all. Alright, now to elaborate a little on my idea. It is taken from the 3rd idea, the Peter Pan one, except instead of making it an almost sequel-type dealy to Peter Pan, I have changed it so it is a retelling of Peter Pan. If anyone has heard of a movie directed by Damion Dietz called "Neverland," it is very similar to that. Essentially, what I plan to be doing is doing for Peter Pan what James' "Wonka Inc" did for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. By that, I mean I'm giving it a dark twist, and modernising the story a fair amount as well. So here is my thought: if you could give me your opinions on the idea, then I can PM you the first draft of my RP's introduction, and you could give me your opinion on it. I think this would help it to encompass all those thoughts and ideas I just know are running through your heads right now. Even though I am creating this RP, I very much want it to be yours as well, so absolutely any input you can give will matter. Thank you all for your help in advance. Your interest has been very satisfying.
15. Hello there, fine, respectable arty-type peoples of OtakuBoards. It's me again, Blayze. Although this time I am not looking for a new banner and avatar set, as I am quite happy with the ones I have currently. This is a different request for me, and something to do with a new RP which is forthcoming from the depths of my twisted mind. What I require is a banner-esque design to use at the head of each thread about this RP, although it doesn't have to be within banner size restrictions, because I will be posting it in a thread. However, this does mean that it can't be too wide, otherwise it will mess up the formatting of the thread. So, anyway, the request is quite simple, all I want you to do is put some words on a picture I already have, one which I have attached. The words I want on it are: Never grow old. Never grow up... Preferably in a kind of brooding, gothic-style text. If someone can do this for me it would be very much appreciated, and I would love you forever. Although, while you are at it, if you could make me a banner and avi using the same image for the banner, with the same words and everything, and the second attached image for the avi (just the kid's head, no name or anything, with a nice border) then I would be immensely grateful for it. I won't be using any of these things for a little while, but when I do, you will be able to see your work in all its splendour. Thank you all very much in advance for this.
16. Thank you all for your input, and your first post in a while, Sinistra. Nice to hear that you are all fans of my second idea, perhaps more so than my first. That's understandable really, there wasn't a huge amount of feedback from vicky's Doctor Who RP a while back, and I doubt whether there will be much more for TORCHWOOD. I will work on the second idea a little, and I'll try and go into a little more depth on my Shaun Of The Dead-style idea, but for now here are a couple of new choices. Basically, I am planning out a few different RPs which I will release at various intervals during my summer holiday (which, owing to my transition from secondary school to sixth-form college, is looking to be about 3 months long), but I am trying to generate some interest for them now. The two new basic ideas are as follows: Idea 3 Have you ever had a child gone missing? This is the prototype tagline for this RP, which is, essentially, a dark fairy tale, heavily based on Peter Pan, which I have always seen as a fairly metaphor-laden book. There would be a Neverland-style world involved, and children going missing from our world. Actually, when I say that, I mean that this is actually going to be set in Neverland, but it will be a much darker version of the events of the classic story of Peter Pan. The characters from the original will probably have very minor roles, or not be involved at all. Idea 4 Inspired by the new Pirates of the Caribbean trailers, I have entered into a piratey mood. This RP would be a fantasy adventure, with a fairly comic twist thrown in, much like the aforementioned Disney films. Perhaps not with undead pirates and Bill Nighy with a beard made out of a squid (watch the trailer), but in the same sort of vein. More information on these ideas, as well as the Shaun of the Dead idea will be posted here shortly. Thanks to all of you for your input.
17. First off, I'd like to say that the classic fantasy/sci-fi RPs seem to be getting less and less popular nowadays because anyone can pull one out of their arse (excuse my language). Others, such as my own RP Stranded, which was different, seemed to be pretty successful, as it removed itself from the standard formula. In my experience, it is the different RPs that get the most attention, although some of them never even get off the ground (one of my most recent RPs, Sin City Yarns, never even got any sign-ups, even though it was a different format to usual). But I digress. The idea you have come up with sounds interesting, and actually along the lines of something I was planning a while back, although mine was more of a heist-style RP, where you are on the side of the criminals (I think the term crime caper is used most commonly for that kind of story). But I think trying to solve the crime would be quite interesting. However, you will need to have a good idea of what the crime is, and exactly how it was perpetrated before you even think about beginning. You can't just wing it for this kind of RP, you need a good clear plan of what is likely to happen, otherwise you will get bogged down with endless amounts of plot twists. But I would be happy to give you a hand with making this RP if you wanted to carry it on into a more coherent idea. You have my MSN, so drop me a line any time and I'll give you a hand. PS: I'm really glad that people are beginning to create different RPs around here. It's a nice breath of fresh air.
18. "So, what do you guys think of Genosha so far?" asked Tesla, the young, literally electrically-charged mutant. Pyro turned and gave a scathing look to Tesla. "I don't have time to get involved in any conversations with you right now, Tesla," he said coldly, almost spitting out the mutant's codename, "I have important stuff to do." "Fine. Go do it then," replied Tesla, turning away from Pyro, who could literally feel the atmosphere become electric around Tesla. That was the problem with elemental mutants, they always wore their emotions right out there on their sleeves, for everyone to see. Pyro knew he did. The hot-headed young Brotherhood member removed himself from the crowd, not wasting time on being polite or considerate, pushing his way through as quickly as he could, and he set off on the assignment Magneto had set for him. You see, even after Magneto's almost-complete, yet spectacular transfer of power in Genosha, there still lay some anti-mutant powerbases, hidden deep within the infrastructure of the nation. He may have removed the main threats, but there were still factions of humans now devoted to taking down Magneto's new government. Fortunately for Pyro, they weren't exactly taking steps to make themselves less obvious. Right now he was staring a a concrete wall, once part of a railway tunnel or something of the like, with the words: "Mutie Scum," spray-painted across it. Even more fortunate was the fact that he had seen the artist who had sprayed it on, the human who was now running for his life. Pyro skidded around the corner, chasing the human down. He knew what he was doing, and eventually the human turned right into a dead-end alleyway. Pyro advanced on him, slowly and menacingly. ""Mutie Scum"? Is that really the best you can come up with? I've seen that a thousand times, scrawled all over my house back in Melbourne. You really think the new government of Magneto is going to be taken down with one scruffy little homo sapien with a spraycan?" said Pyro. "I'm only the first stage!" spat the human, "There are hundreds more like us, all around the island!" "Oh, and you think we don't know about them? There are others, going down to take them out right now. Your humans are nearing the end of their lifespan, mate. Genosha belongs to the mutants now." "That's never gonna happen, you filthy piece of shi..." The man's words were cut short by Pyro moving in close to him, and raising his hand. Since joining Magneto, the great man himself had ordered the creation of a kind of flamethrower attachment being sewn into Pyro's clothes, meaning he didn't have to bother himself with that puny little Zippo lighter any more. As he raised his arm, a jet of flame squirted into his hand, and hovered about an inch above his palm. "Do you know who you're talking to, mate?" whispered Pyro, "I'm one of the first. One of the first mutants to join Magneto, and you think you can get away with calling me something like that? You don't wanna know what happened to the last bloke who did that." "You don't scare me." "Oh, I think I do. You humans are always trying to be so macho, but you haven't got the balls to go through with anything. What are you going to do to me? There's no point in me even killing you. You're just not worth it." Pyro extinguished the flame in his hand, and walked away, a broad smile on his face. "Oh, yeah, that was it," he said, turning around to look at the terrified human, "I had a message to give to you to take back to the rest of your human friends." "What was it?" said the human with a tremor. "This." Pyro swung his arm up, throwing a tiny ball of flame at the man's spraycan. The pressurised gas in the container ignited with the sudden increase in heat, and it exploded noisily. "Don't screw with Magneto." --- OOC: I hope its ok with you that I set this little assignment up for myself, Will, I was just showing that all is not well in Genosha. Also, Monkatraz, I hope you're alright with me setting up a little tension between Pyro and Tesla, just to spice things up a little.
19. Name: Hades, God of the Underworld Age: 2890 Gender: Male, or at least, that's how he appears... Race: God Appearance: Hades is a tall, imposing figure, as a God should be. He was once handsome, with chiselled good looks, chipped-ice blue eyes and flowing golden hair. That was, until he drew lots for a realm with his brothers, Poseidon and Zeus, and was forced to occupy the land of nothingness known as the Underworld. Spending an eternity down there has changed him, both physically and mentally. Now, whilst retaining his tall stature, his chiselled good looks are gone, the healthy tan of his skin replaced by a deathly pallor, his once-straight teeth are now pointed fangs. His eyes are no longer the chipped-ice blue they once were, having become a deep, bloody red. His hair is jet black, and where it once flowed far below his shoulders, it now stands straight, in sharp points. The nails on his hands are slightly elongated and incredibly sharp, acting almost as talons, to rip mortal souls from their prisons of flesh. Hades is almost always clad in armour, although as the souls of the dead cannot harm him, the reason for this remains unclear. Blood-red armour plates cover his chest and legs, and armoured gauntlets protect his forearms. Spiked shoulder pads lay above his arms, and his feet are covered by armoured boots. Over all this usually rests a thick black cloak, protecting him from the endless cold of the Underworld. A sheathed sword hangs at his hip, although he has not had to use it in a long time, and although he never wears it, the legendary Cyclopean weapon, the Helmet of Invisibility, lies hidden deep within his home realm. Personality: Hate. That is the only way to describe Hades' personality. He is a dark being, full to the brim with hatred, rage, fury, anger, wrath, every single facet of the dark side of emotion. Aeons of being forced to dwell in the dark place that is the Underworld has driven him beyond any good emotions. He is a dark, twisted being, the only remnant of his former self being a sense of humour, but this too has been twisted beyond all imagination, to become a harsh, very morbid type of humour. But morbid is what you get when you are forced to be the God of the Dead, of the Underworld. Morbidity is the only way you get through from day to day, and Hades has most definitely had a lot of days down there. He has tenuous relationships with Thantos, also known as Tartarus, the true God of Death, and Hermes, the messenger of the Gods, who guides living souls down to the Underworld, but these are mostly "business relationships." Bio: Back when the world was young, there was a powerful being named Cronus the Titan, whose wife Rhea gave birth to six children, three male, three female. The three females were Hestia, Demeter and Hera, the males were Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades. Together, these six accounted for half of the Olympian Gods. Upon reaching adulthood, the Gods gathered together, as well as many of their followers and allies, and declared a Titanomachy on their parents and uncles, the Titans. It was a divine war. But the Gods were gifted by the Cyclopes, a race of one-eyed giants, who gave Zeus, Poseidon and Hades a weapon each. Zeus received the thunderbolt, Poseidon the trident, and Hades the Helmet of Invisibility, which he used the night before battle commenced to sneak into the Titans' camp and destroy their weapons. Despite this deception, the war lasted for ten years, ending in victory for the Gods. The three male Gods drew lots for their own realms. Zeus received the heavens to rule over, the sky and the true home of the Gods, Mount Olympus. Poseidon gained rulership over the seas, evey ocean and part of water known to man or God. Hades, however, drew what he saw as the short straw. The Underworld. The Land of the Dead. He despised this realm, and wished to break free of the aeons-old agreement that had led him to become ruler of this Gods-forsaken place. He wanted somewhere new, somewhere fresh, where he could begin to live again. And that place presented itself perfectly. The Home of the Living would become Hades' new realm. He would wage war on Earth... Since deciding on his grand plan, Hades has been gathering followers, both of Earth and of the other realms, strengthening his forces before waging all-out war on Earth, and taking it for himself. Alliance: Ruler of the Underworld OOC: Hope that's all good for you, cancer, I didn't have anyone else's sign-ups to compare it to. PM me if something's not quite right.

James Blunt

Personally, I am not a big fan of James Blunt. It could just be that his songs get waaay too much radio airplay, so they become tedious and repetetive after a while, but it could also be the fact that he does tend to whine a lot. I mean, fair enough if you have things you want to whine about, but please, please, don't whine at me, especially not in song. There is something about him that annoys me. I do respect him for not feeling obliged to follow in the footsteps of his father blah blah blah, but I am just not really a huge fan of him.
21. Both perfectly adequate sign-ups, but you are both forgetting one thing. I said in my first post that I wanted a CHARACTER SNIPPET including all the sections I listed. I did not want a standard sign-up form like you have both filled out. Both your characters are perfectly fine, but please change the format of your sign-up to the format I asked for in the first place. Thank you. (On a lighter note, are we gonna get any more friggin' players in this game?)

6-6-06

Well, if predictions were to be believed, the world would have ended about four times in recent years. Just because the date is 6/6/06, not even 666, doesn't mean the Devil is going to rise from Hell and eat everything, or whatever people believe is going to happen on this date.
Originally posted by Corey I nod, smile, and note how much like vodka he smells.
Very minor point in this whole discussion, but I was under the impression that vodka was odourless? So, really, if you smelt vodka on him, we should be having a discussion about your superhuman sense of smell, Corey. We have all gone wrong!
23. I've just read some online rumours that state that the seventh book in the ever-popular wizarding franchise will be released on July 7th, 2007. This is mainly based on the timings for the previous book releases (every book since Goblet of Fire has come out around June/July), as well as the fact that July 7th is a Saturday, and the last three books have all been released on a Saturday. Also, this date has special significance, as, in the last book, it is stated that seven is a powerful number, and the most magical of all numbers, it makes sense for the seventh book to be released on the seventh day of the seventh month 2007. It just begs for the perfect release adverts. Book 7. 7/7/07. That's all I know currently, when I know more I will pass along the information. (Also, as a sidenote, not really relevant to this part of the forum, the fifth movie should be coming out July 13, 2007, less than a week after the book. Mods, please don't eat me for this.)
24. X-Men Days of Future Now "At last, we will have peace for humans!" boomed Senator Robert Kelly's magnificent voice, "These mutant-hunting Sentinels will allow for a greater tomorrow, free of the mutant threat posed by Magneto and his Brotherhood, as well as the X-Men! We will finally have ended the mutant threat! And now will come the time of..." Senator Kelly's body was thrown to the ground, blood spurting from a wound now opened in his chest. Secret Servicemen ran to help him, but found only a dead body, limp and pale now, with a crossbow bolt protruding from his chest. Somebody had assassinated Senator Robert Kelly. A thundering crash destroyed the solemnity of the event, as a pair of battling mutants crashed through the wall of a nearby building, one of them a massively obese creature, the other a man covered in metal armour. They were trading blows but neither was falling. "Muties!" shouted one of the Secret Servicemen, "They must be behind this!" The Sentinel that stood guard over this tragic event moved into action, raising its hand. A beam of hot white energy lanced out, engulfing the two battling mutants, disintegrating them both. "They killed the Blob!" shouted another mutant from within the building, flames licking round him in a seemingly controlled manner. "Colossus?" came a slightly weaker voice, breaking with grief, "Colossus...you killed Piotr!" Kitty Pryde leapt into action, running at the Secret Servicemen, followed by the flaming mutant, who blasted hot jets of fury at the Sentinel. A third mutant, this one with metal claws bursting from his knuckles, leapt at the Sentinel, claws ripping through its steel armour-plating. This was just the beginning... --- It has now been four years since that tragic event, and war has been declared between mutant and human. High-ranking politicians, furious at the cold-blooded murder of Senator Robert Kelly, have sent armies of Sentinels to destroy the world's mutant population, apparently unworried if the attacks took out a fair portion of the free world as well. Magneto, the Master of Magnetism, urged all mutants to come to Genosha, his land of plenty, and join him in the war against human fascism. His power and numbers have been growing stronger and stronger with each passing day. But other things have happened in this world as well. Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, became furious at what had happened, and her dark persona emerged. The Dark Phoenix took over most of Africa before she stopped. She now holds the throne of Africa, and rules over it with an iron fist, destroying mutant and human alike if they step out of line. The entire of South America has been rendered uninhabitable by a nuclear strike by the US government to try and wipe out Exodus and his forces on the continent. The powerful mutant only just escaped, but the rest of his mutant army was wiped out. He fled to Genosha to join Magneto's war effort. The X-Men, under the command of Charles Xavier, have more integrity than most. They did not join Magneto in his call to arms, but they are not hiding away either. The X-Men have become a covert operations force, devoted to resolving the war peacefully for both sides. And the only way to do that is to find one young mutant among the whole world's population. They are searching for a young girl named Illyana Rasputin, aka Magik, younger sister to Colossus, a mutant with the ability to send people back or forward in time. They wish to travel back to the moment Senator Kelly was assassinated and stop this terrible event from unfolding, by any means necessary... --- As you can tell, this is an X-Men RP, but not of your usual type. In this reality, due to the assassination of the mutant-hating politician Senator Robert Kelly, humanity has waged war on mutantkind. This means that this will be a more gritty version of the X-Men, as their new fight is a fight for survival, against the combined forces of the mutant-hunting Sentinel army controlled by the human race, and the mutant army led by Magneto from Genosha. Their main aim is to find Illyana Rasputin, who never contracted the Legacy Virus in this contingency, and travel back in time to stop the assassination of Kelly, and find out who the culprit was. However, along the way it is quite possible they will face opposition from Magneto and the Sentinels, and it is almost inevitable that they will lose some of their own. The only characters that are off-limits are: Dark Phoenix/Jean Grey Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr Professor Xavier Other than that, you can use any character from the existing X-Men universe, or create your own, within reason. Also, if someone wishes, they can play Illyana Rasputin, but PM me for details about that. With all that out of the way, here goes: For the sign up, I am going to go with the current trend, and ask for a written sample, including in it the following details: Name/Codename Age Gender Nationality Appearance Personality [remember, this is a war zone. Nothing is going to be happy smily bunnies here] Superhuman Ability/Mutant Power [this encompasses any other skills you might have as well, hand-to-hand combat, lockpicking etc.] One Significant Event [this could be anything, from when your mutant power emerged to another traumatic event during childhood] The brief is this: you are being pursued through an urban battleground [think the Danger Room scenario in X-Men 3 if you've seen it, if not then just try to imagine something] by a group of highly-trained anti-mutant combat troops. You have to try and find a way to escape them. I am only allowing characters to be on the X-Men, as I find with this kind of RP, splitting the characters too much causes them to fail early on. So everyone is an X-Man, aside from Illyana Rasputin, but as I said earlier, please PM me about that. Other important information: -Charles Xavier is now able to walk, due to a mechanical exoskeleton given to him by Magneto, to allow him to stand a better chance against the Sentinels. Erik wished to denounce his old friend's ways, but he still wanted him to live on and fight for mutant rights. -The Xavier Institute is no more. It was one of the first structures to be destroyed by the Sentinels when the US government waged war on mutantkind. Several of the original students were killed in the attack, and this has fuelled the rest of the team for revenge. -Everyone is very different now. The war has changed people from kind, thoughtful individuals to cold-hearted killing machines. However, not everyone has their thoughts about war. There are some who wish to remain peaceful... -Appearances have changed. The X-Men uniforms are almost a thing of the past, ragged remnants of a dream long forgotten by most. Most X-Men now wear clothes suitable for urban combat, as well as covert operations, but mostly they dress for comfort. Skin is now covered in battle-scars, new injuries and old alike mottling the skin. Even Wolverine has scars that go so deep even his healing factor can't fully heal them. -There are some enemies that are embedded so deep in cover that they haven't even revealed themselves yet. Powerful enemies lurk round every corner, even within those you trust with your lives... Have fun, and if there are any questions, please don't hesitate to PM me. Happy creating!
25. Impulse stood, taking in the massive task that lay in front of them. They needed to search the whole island for one tiny little plant, and they had to do it pretty quickly. He didn't want to spend any more time on this island than he had to, frankly. Sakura was already frantically searching in amongst the plants for the elusive asphodel plant. She was beginning to get frsutrated, though. "Don't get angry over nothing," said Impulse, "Just calm down. You'll be able to search better that way." "I'm sorry, I just...it's so frustrating," she replied, standing up and wiping her brow, even though there was nothing up there to wipe. "I know it is. But try being me, the only guy on this mission. God, you girls complain a lot." "Was that...humour? From you? Last thing I'd expect to hear from you, especially in this situation." "What? I can be funny when I want to be. I haven't always been the reclusive loner type, you know. I used to have a lot of friends." "What happened?" "Nothing that concerns you. You should really try to keep your nose out of other people's business." "Sorry. Just trying to make conversation." "I appreciate it. No-one really looks past this exterior. They see the loner, and then don't give me the time of day. Its nice to talk to someone." Sakura turned back to the plants. She had never expected to have a heart-to-heart with Impulse, of all people. Maybe it was the air on this island... "Wait a minute! That's it! The air on the island! That's how we find the asphodel!" she cried out. "What is?" "I can transform into an animal with a highly developed sense of smell! I can smell the asphodel!" "One slight problem. Have you ever smelt an asphodel plant before?" "No, but it must have it's own unique scent, different from all these other plants. If I can find the unique scent, and track it down, I should find the asphodel!" "Well, what are you waiting for? Go." She hunched down on all fours, and fur began to sprout from her back, bursting out of her shirt. Her face elongated with a sort of grinding, crunching noise, and her eyes turned yellow. Her bones rearranged themselves, shifting to form the bone structure of the particular animal she was transforming into. "A wolf?" scoffed Impulse, "That's original." Sakura merely turned and snarled at him, before raising her nose to the wind and sniffing. Then she was off, at a much faster rate than Impulse could have managed. He struggled to follow her, but managed to just about keep up. Where she was heading was a different matter...
