1. (OOC: Time to move the story along a little) "She's escaped!" cried Noals, "We have to go after her!" "There's no point," said Alec. "She can't get out of the castle. She's got nowhere to go," said Talyn, "For now we should concentrate on these two." He gestured towards Thayne and Richard. "Excellent. I've always wanted to play with a Wakanda," hissed Noals greedily, drawing a poker from the fire and advancing towards Richard. Talyn smiled at Noals' lust for pain, and drew a particularly long syringe from the trolley. He walked over to Thayne, and pierced the soft skin of his arm with the needle, and shot a small amount of the green substance within into his veins. "This is an anti-coagulant. They're normally used to thin the blood to get rid of blood clots, but when there are no clots present, all they do is thin the blood out. There is going to be less and less oxygen travelling to your brain as I inject you with more and more of this. I'm going to do it very slowly, just so I can hear you scream, Thayne. Eventually you will end up completely brain-dead. There will be next to no oxygen running through your veins, and your brain will suffocate." "What do you want from us, Talyn? You have all the information you need. Why do you insist on torturing us?" said Thayne weakly, "We can't harm you. We're both too weak." "I don't want to let you die. You are going to make us very happy for the next week, and I am not going to let you die before this is over." Talyn stood up straight, and left the room, gesturing to Noals that he would be back soon. He turned the corner and searched around for an unoccupied room, which he found a few doors down from where Thayne and Richard were being tortured. He crept in and shut the door, drawing from his belt an item given to him by Sin back at the hospital. An injection gun. He loaded it with a phial of the serum that Sin had given him before he had turned, and shot it into his neck. He fell to the floor and spasmed quietly, foam dribbling from the corners of his mouth. His muscles tensed, and his veins stuck out from under his skin. His fangs retracted slightly, making them smaller than before. When the spasming had stopped, Talyn drew another object from his pocket. It was a slim black cellphone, a direct link to someone he needed to contact right now. He flipped it open and hit the speeddial button. He held the phone to his ear, and when the voice answered, he said: "Kalei. It's me. We're inside. I've had to torture Thayne and Richard, but I injected Thayne with an anaesthetic muscle re-builder, making out that it was an anti-coagulant. Thayne's going to be fine, and I think Jade should be, but I'm not so sure about Richard. I don't want to stop the vampire torturing him in case she gets suspicious. I haven't managed to meet Malik yet, but that should come soon. Rumours going round the castle suggest that Tegan and Katima are in the dungeons, and Malik is spending a lot of time with them. Jade has escaped, and I would assume that she's looking for Tegan. I've just administered my second-to-last dose of the serum, so its not going to be long before I can't stop the thirst. I'll call again when I have more information." And with that, he hung up. He left the room, clearing away the phial and slipping the injection gun back into his belt. As he opened the door, a fist swung out from the darkness and impacted with his face, almost certainly breaking his nose. He flew backwards into the room, blood pouring from his face, and slammed into the floor, sliding across into the far wall. He looked up and saw Noals silhouetted in the light that was flooding in from the door. "So, you're still working for the Wakanda. I knew it," she snarled, walking over to him, "I smelt the Wakanda in you the minute I met you." Talyn groaned and tried to roll over, clutching his broken nose, when Noals delivered a swift and brutal kick to his ribs. He was slammed into the wall again, and Noals grabbed him by the collar and lifted him to his feet. She punched him again and again in the face, chest and ribs, breaking bones with her punches, causing more blood to ooze from his face. He coughed, blood splattering from his mouth. "You can't even fight back!" she said, laughing, "I knew you were weak. You still believe that what you are doing is noble! You are a fool!" "Not as big a fool as you," he spluttered through another mouthful of blood, "You've left your back unguarded..." "What!?" shouted Noals, turning, to see no-one standing behind her, "You are a fool!" But by that time, Talyn had delivered a bone-breaking blow of his own, directly into her face, throwing her back into the hall. "Rule number one: don't get distracted," he said, drawing a knife from his belt, one that he had slipped in during the torture session, and slicing across Noals' face, drawing blood. She brought her hand up and felt the blood. Her eyes turned venomous, and she leapt to her feet. "You cut me! How dare you!" she screamed, and leapt at him...
2. The idea of the mirror seems pretty hot to me, it could be pretty useful in the long run. And also, Solo, I only put that we would want a weapon because it seemed like the kind of thing Shadow would say, I wasn't really implying that we should choose to get a weapon.
3. "Yes! One-nil-nil to the Blues!" shouted Shadow, taking a moment to mock the members of the other teams as they trudged out. Shadow greedily grabbed the Blue cube that they were offered and held it out. The other members of the Blue Team placed their hands on it, and they were all transported in a flash to a sandy beach. "I still don't believe you stole that answer from me, Croft," he said grouchily. "Are you still sore about that? We won, didn't we?" replied the furry creature who had been the last member of the team to arrive. "Exactly," said the Pac-Man, "We've gotten off to a good start, we just have to keep it up for now." "And also we have to decide what luxury item we should choose," said Lara, "It should be something that we're all going to need while we're staying here. Anyone got any ideas?" "I think we should take a weapon," said Shadow, "Something we can use to hunt." "Well, you would say that, wouldn't you?" replied Krystal, and Fox burst out laughing. "And to be fair, so would you, Fox," she said, seeing him laughing. "Come on, everyone," said Fox, composing himself, "If we're going to win this competition, we need to work together. We need to become a team, even if some of us," he shot a glare at Shadow, "Get the wrong idea about how we get along with other people." "Screw you, Fox," replied Shadow, "But I guess you're right. I wanna win this as much as the next guy, but to get as far as I can, we're going to have to be a team." "Wow," said Lara, "That's something new. Shadow agrees with something." Shadow glared at her, but didn't say anything. "So, what item should we choose?"
4. Thank you so much, Doukeshi! They're both amazing! Its good to be on the same team as you...
5. I've given Zuriel a pretty major overhaul, as I wasn't too happy with his character the last time round Name: He was once known as Zuriel, but now he is mostly known by his nickname Nickname: Seraphim Age: 516 but looks to be in his mid-twenties Gender: Male Species: Vampire Clan: Loosely associated with the Myrkur Aniol Appearance: Here, but his hair has now turned jet black, with streaks of red, and his eyes are yellow. His clothes are also completely black instead of dark blue. Weapons: A simple sword, shown here, as well as a dagger given to him upon joining the Myrkur Aniol, shown here Powers: Seraphim's powers are as follows: Telekinesis Pretty much self-explanitory, he can move things with his mind, as well as create pulses of energy tothrow his enemies backwards, onto spikes or into sunlight etc. Pyro Seraphim's main strength lies in his control over flame. He can create flame from his hands, and manipulate the flame to his will, creating monstrous beasts from the fires, as well as controlling the direction and amount of fire he creates. He can also wreath his sword in flame to burn his enemies. White Flame A power unique to Seraphim, he can create a type of flame that burns white instead of red, and, as with the other powers, he can control it completely, but this white flame burns twice as painfully as normal fire. Speed For short spells of time, and with massive concentration, Seraphim can increase his speed to massive levels, allowing him to move like quicksilver, in the blink of an eye. However, moving at this speed for more than around ten minutes leaves him completely exhausted. Personality: Seraphim is not a trusting vampire, having been betrayed many times in the past (see Bio), and as such he can come off as cold and unloving, but deep down, beneath the hatred which courses through his veins, there is a loving heart somewhere. He is a loyal friend once he has become trusting, but that takes a long time. Biography: Seraphim has been a vampire for as long as anyone can remember. He was turned over 500 years ago, and was rumoured to have been sired by Dracula himself. Even he does not remember his life as a human, and certainly nobody else does. It is possible that he was even born a vampire, a true pure-blood. He has travelled around the globe, searching for a clan that suits him most, and he has found only one. The Myrkur Aniol, who re-christened him with the name Zuriel, meaning Rock of God. However, he soon became disillusioned with the Myrkur Aniol, and left them on a pilgrimage, but no-one knows where he was planning to travel. It was on these travels that he changed his name from Zuriel to Seraphim, and although he was still technically a member of the Myrkur Aniol, he announced that he had no clan. However, he still travels back to the Myrkur Aniol in the Middle East on occasion, as he feels it is his spiritual home, but he is never there for more than a few weeks at a time. Currently, his location is unknown, as is his goal. No-one is sure whether he is with or against Kuroichi except himself... Writing Sample:
The desert. Hot. Dry. Barren. Unloving. The perfect place for the angel to face his demons.

Seraphim drew his sword, and brought it sharply across one palm. Blood spilled from the wound, and dripped steadily from his hand, dropping to the floor, mixing with the dust to make a thick, crimson paste. He knelt down and dipped his finger into the blood. He drew a strange sigil with it, using the ancient language of the Myrkur Aniol. As soon as he withdrew his finger, the sigil began to flame, burning with dark fire. The burning pyre grew and grew, until it was almost as tall as the man who had created it. He drew in a deep breath and held it, then walked straight forward through the fire. The heat cleansed him, and the flames were absorbed into his body. As he stepped out the other side of the fire, he was cleansed, and the fire was little more than burning embers. He was done here. He picked up his meagre belongings and carried on his journey. A few days later... They attacked without warning, and without a proper plan of attack. Five or six vampires, he couldn't tell, armed with blades as long as their forearms. Some with swords, others with glaives, axes, even bladed gauntlets. They jumped him in the night, as he lay down to sleep. His sword was out within moments, and one of them was dead as soon as the weapon was unsheathed, his blood staining the blade. The others backed off somewhat after this, and he closed his eyes and said a few words in some strange, unknown language. His sword suddenly burst into flames, and he hurled the weapon at the furthest vampire. It cut through him and he was incinerated by the flames as the blade made contact. The rest of them were scared by now, and as he kept chanting strange words, they backed away. Suddenly, flames, white as a pure snowfall leapt from his hands, throwing themselves at the vampires like huge tendrils belonging to some bizarre demon. They were incinerated instantly, and he opened his eyes. The flames subsided, and he picked up his weapons. It was clearly not in his best interests to stay here now. One vampire remained, now scared stiff. Seraphim had not noticed him in the maelstrom, and he re-drew his sword, and drew his arm backwards. "Please don't kill me," pleaded the vampire. "The Lord shows no mercy, filth," replied the Angel, thrusting the blade through the vampire's chest. He died, and the Angel resheathed his weapon. He needed cleansing again after this, but it could wait a few more hours...
Other: Seraphim hates to hear his former name, that of the angel Zuriel, and hearing it will cause him to fly into a rage which he cannot remember afterwards.

Hope thats ok for you, ULX, I edited the Writing Sample
6. "Look, I don't give a damn if we are on the same team. You are a 2D, yellow ball who eats pills for a living. I, however, am the greatest hedgehog in the universe. I don't want to talk to you, so just leave me alone, or, so help me, I will shoot you," said Shadow. "That's no way to talk to me," replied Pac-Man, "I've been around since long before your time, Mr, even before your brother's time." "Did you just mention my brother?" asked Shadow, increasingly infuriated, "Because no-one talks to me about my brother, unless it is to tell me that he's been crushed by a blimp. And also, you may be older than me, but I am, to put it simply, a lot better than you. So go away, and try not to break a hip, grandpa. Oh wait, that's right, you don't have any hips." Shadow turned away from the ball, and watched out of the corner of his eye as the ball rolled away. There were two girls standing near Shadow, one of them, Yuna, had threatened Shadow earlier, but the other one he hadn't seen yet. "Hey pretty ladies," he said, walking up to them, "The name's Shadow. And you might be?" "Lara Croft," said the newcomer, bending down to take Shadow's outstretched hand. "I see you've got a blue feather. So it looks like we're gonna be seeing a lot more of each other soon enough." "And I look forward to it," replied Lara, "By the way, nice gun." She gestured towards the weapon at Shadow's hip. "Thanks," he said, drawing the weapon and twirling it around his fingers a little, "Custom made, just for me. Specially weighted, automatic reload, hair trigger, rapid-fire setting, additional laser-sight. I never go anywhere without this beauty." "Very nice," replied Lara, and Yuna seemed impressed too. "Well, I'll see you ladies later," he said, walking away casually. "Wasn't he cute?" said Yuna, just before Shadow went out of earshot. A vein pulsed in the hedgehog's temple, but he suppressed his rage. He might need friends like them later in the game...
7. Jake hailed a cab, and asked, in fluent German, to be taken to the address Esther had given him. The driver nodded, and drove off, not bothering to make any small talk on the way. A week ago, I'd never have imagined this, thought Jake, I never thought I'd be joining a rebel group fighting against the government, let alone become one of the founding members. Three days ago I was going to work as normal, but now this. Unbelievable. After a little while, the cab pulled up at the waterfront, where a block of warehouses, cold, grey slabs of concrete, where Esther's weapons were to be picked up. He paid the driver, and asked for him to come back in an hour or so and pick him up. The driver agreed, and drove off. Jake looked at the slip of paper with the address on it. Warehous Number 5, Waterfront, it said, so he went over to the warehouse marked 5 and walked through the door. "Hello?" he shouted, his voice echoing around the room, "Is someone there?" There was the sound of a large number of guns being cocked, and the lights came on, effectively blinding Jake. He blinked a few times to get rid of the spots that had appeared before his eyes, and then looked around. There were twenty or thirty men, all with handguns of various sizes and shapes, all standing around, aiming their weapons at Jake. He smiled at them. "Is there a problem here?" he asked, again in fluent German. "Ja," replied one of the men, who sported a thick, bushy moustache on his upper lip, "We were expecting a Ms. Esther Hadely. You are not a woman, nor are you named Esther. Therefore, you are not the the one who we are expecting. Therefore, we have orders to shoot on sight." "There's a mistake. I've been sent here by Ms. Hadely. She sent me to pick up a shipment of weapons, and I was sent here." "But we were told only to deal with Ms. Hadely. You are not Ms. Hadely. Therefore, we are ordered to kill you." "Fine," said Jake, "But be aware of the consequences of trying." He dodged in towards the head honcho, grabbing his weapon and twisting it from his grasp. He fired a shot into his kneecap, sending him to the floor, screaming in agony. Blood gushed from the wound, and created a torrent of scarlet across the floor of the warehouse. "Shoot him!" shouted the man between torn, ragged breaths, "Shoot him now!" The rest of the men, previously astounded at their leader's easy defeat, turned upon Jake, but he was already gone, leaving only his coat behind. "Where the hell is he?" cried one of the men, before being taken down by a gunshot to the arm. Several others were dropped with various non-lethal injuries, and within moments there was widespread confusion and chaos. No-one knew where to shoot, or who to shoot, or even where the man they were supposed to shoot was. Jake walked from the shadows into the light again, aiming his handgun at the leader's head. "Now do you believe Ms. Hadely sent me?" he asked. The German nodded, and pointed him to a stack of crates, supposedly full of weapons. "Thank you."
8. "What's wrong, Alex?" asked Amres smoothly. Alex ran his hand through his hair again, and when he retracted it, he realised his palm was slicked with nervous sweat, and his entire hand was trembling. "It's this note. It's really beginning to freak me out. I mean, it came here this morning, mentioning the water, and hardly anyone knew about us coming down to the water this morning. And then there's the mystery of how it got into my room without anyone opening the door. It's all just a little too much to be an accident. I don't like it," he replied, stumbling with his words. "Hey, Alex, we're all a little freaked out. I mean, some of us knew people that have disappeared here, and we don't really want to know whether they're dead, but curiosity brought us here, and it will carry us through. Just keep focused on the task at hand, forget about the letter, and you'll be fine." "Yeah, I guess you're right," he replied, and got to his feet, "Hey, where did Ashlyn and Rowena go?" "They went to find Kei. But now Roger's gone as well." "That's strange. Maybe we should go and find them." It didn't take them long. They found Ashlyn, Rowena and Kei standing over what looked like a knight, in full armour, who was lying on the floor. Roger stood a couple of paces away. "What's happened here?" asked Alex, making his way over to where the girls stood over the knight, "And who the hell is this guy?" "We don't know. That's what we're trying to find out," said Rowena, "The guy just attacked us for no reason, along with another one just like him, but I don't know where he went." "Are any of you hurt?" "Kei's got a tiny scratch on her cheek, but apart from that we're all ok, I think." The other girls nodded, "A little shook up but pretty much alright." "Good. We'd better try and find out what this guy was doing," said Alex, grabbing the knight and dragging him, with some difficulty and a little help from the others, to sit him up against a tree. "Now, what were you doing here?" he asked, a hint of menace in his voice... (OOC: Hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes here)
9. Hey, this is your friendly neighbourhood Wraith here, asking for the assistance of all you crazy Photoshop people to create me a beautiful banner and avi set, featuring Shadow the Hedgehog, my character in OtakuBoards Survivor. On the avi, just a picture of Shadow, please, don't put my name, as I have a habit of changing it, and I want to keep this set for a while, and on the banner, another picture of him, with just the words "Game On!" in a funky kinda font. Attached are some pictures you could use, but if you want to use any you have found that look better than them, please feel free. Thanks in advance.
10. "Dude, what's with the short Italian?" said an arrogant-sounding voice from out of sight. A black hedgehog, with red streaks in his spines entered the scene, holding various golden rings, which he promptly disposed of onto the floor. "It's-a me," said the Italian, "Don't you-a recognise me? I'm-a Mario!" He twirled his moustache proudly. "I don't care," said Shadow, thrusting a handful of rings into Mario's arms and walking past him towards another of the contestants, who was wearing baggy pants and a hooded top. "Yo, get away from me, boy," said this contestant. "I'm sorry," said Shadow, glaring at the "gangsta" with a look of hatred, "You weren't talkin' to me there, were you?" "Hell yeah I was talkin' to you, smart-ass!" "You wanna start something?" replied Shadow, walking towards the guy menacingly. "Stop fighting, kupo! You all need to get along!" shouted Mog, throwing some confusion into the mix. When the diminutive creature looked up, there were two pistols aimed at his face, one held by Carl Johnson, the other by Shadow. "You wanna say that again?" they said in unison. "Stop fighting!" said a calm but meaningful voice, accompanied by the cocking of two handguns. The two guys looked up, and saw a young woman aiming both her handguns at the fighting pair. They both walked away distastefully, holstering their weapons. "Now, Shadow," said Mog, flying over towards the hedgehog, "Do you have your item with you, kupo?" "Yeah, I got it," he said, obviously quite bored with this by now, and drew a blue feather from his belt, and handed it to Mog. "Excellent," he said, "Now you need to keep this, and try not to get into any more trouble, kupo." The little thing flew off swiftly, trying to avoid the hedgehog.
11. "Remember, Rubedo," said Kraven calmly, "We all have a purpose. Every single person, human, demon, angel, Guardian, Zodiac, every person involved in this war in one way or another, we all have a purpose. Fate here knows this all too well, as she will know how it will all end before any of the rest of us. We all have something to offer in this war, whether it is to save lives, or to take lives, or to sacrifice our own lives. I sometimes believe that it has all been engineered, right from the very beginning. I have come to believe that my creation was ultimately a part of the great plan. I was created to be killed by Reoan, and thus to end up joining her, and become part of the solution. You have a purpose too, and unless I am very much mistaken, that purpose is not likely to be to kill all of us. It may be to restore balance, but you should not take this burden entirely upon your own shoulders. Others will help you in this struggle, Rubedo. You are not alone." "I understand this, Kraven," said the Guardian, a hint of sorrow creeping into his voice, "But if my purpose is not to kill as many as I can before I am gone, then what is it? Why do I continue to be reborn, to live and to die over and over? What is my purpose?" "None of us truly know our purpose, but there is one who knows the purpose of all of us." Kraven nodded towards Amber, who was sitting quietly on the gorund by Kraven's feet. Rubedo nodded, and knelt down in front of the small girl. "Fate," he said, "If you can hear me, my name is Rubedo. I must know what my purpose is upon this earth. Why am I reborn every time I perish? Why am I not allowed to die in peace?" Amber looked up, her eyes clouded over. She spoke, but her voice seemed to come from all over the place, all at once. "Guardian Rubedo. What you ask of me is something I cannot provide. None are supposed to know their own purpose. If one knows their own purpose, then that purpose proceeds to be meaningless, and thus that life is pointless, and must be wiped out. You must find your own purpose, and only then will you truly know the reason for life," replied Fate, "And Kraven," she said, turning to the demon, "You must know this. Your purpose still remains vague. Even I cannot see the full extent of your existence. You will only know your purpose at the very end. But I know one thing of your future. The power you store within your body, that energy which you are too afraid to release in fear of what it could do, that is the energy you must use to end this. That is a part of your purpose. The rest is up to you to find out." Amber slumped backwards, against Kraven's leg, and then her eyes opened, and Amber was back. She looked up at Kraven and smiled. "What is this power that Fate spoke of, Kraven?" asked Rubedo, "You have a power within you that can end this war?" "It will not end the war, Rubedo. It will only end that which I allow it to end. It is not a power of peace, as should be used to end the war, but instead it is a power of death and destruction, one not to be used lightly under any circumstances. But I suppose I may have to use it in the end. We shall not talk of this any more." "What happened to you, Kraven?" asked Rubedo softly, "What has caused you to fear yourself so much? Why have you changed so much?" "That is not a story for now, Rubedo," he replied, turning away, and picking Amber up, "You shall know the reason before the end, but now is not the time for it..."
12. "We can take you there. Asariel, take David and Reoan. I'll take Amber. You go, I'll catch you up," said Kraven softly. Asariel nodded, and unfurled his wings, and, taking hold of David and Reoan, he took off, flying out of the window. Kraven watched until he was out of sight, over the horizon, then turned to Amber. She was sitting on the bed, smiling. Kraven knelt down beside her. "Tell me," he said softly, but with an air of menace, "You house Fate inside your body. What effect does this have on your own soul? Because I must know whether or not your soul is going to remain pure, Amber. An impure soul is not worthy of following Reoan, do you understand? So if I see you making one wrong move, I will kill you myself." Amber nodded, and Kraven got to his feet. "Now you might want to look away. This process can put people into shock." "I may look like a girl, but I'm a demon, Kraven. I've seen much worse things than what you're about to do," she replied coolly. Kraven nodded, and drew one of his swords. He placed the blade on his hand, and drew it across quickly, cutting a shallow gash in the flesh. Blood dribbled out, and Kraven clenched his fist, allowing droplets of blood to fall to the floor. As soon as they hit the ground, bright red light engulfed Kraven. His bones began to shift as two new organs appeared in his body. Amber shielded her eyes as this process took place, the light almost blinding her. When the light faded and she removed her hand, Kraven was still stood there, but different. Now, two huge, ebony wings protruded from his back, not quite as grand as Asariel's, but very impressive none the less. There were still a few wriggling tendrils of red light dotted around the room, but they were fading quickly. "You ready to go?" asked Kraven, panting, slightly exhausted from the transformation. Amber nodded and ran over to Kraven, who took her in his arms, and leapt out of the window, his giant wings flapping. "So, Kraven, tell me what its like in the Pits," she asked when they were somewhere over West Africa. That's an odd question, thought Kraven, surely as a demon she would know what its like down there. "There are things you've never seen. Demons running to and fro, always busy with some diabolical quest. The fire burns so hot you can feel it in your bones, and it burns with a strange, deep red colour that you will never see on earth." "But you saw it on earth. And so did Asariel," she said softly, "Do you remember, Kraven? Up on that rooftop, that fateful night. You took something that wasn't yours to take, and absorbed it into your body. You killed a Duke of Hell, but he wasn't supposed to die that night," her voice was changing now, "You altered Fate, Kraven. You were supposed to be killed by those demons on the rooftop, and so was Asariel, but you managed to change it. And change it for the better, Kraven." "Fate, leave her. I wish to talk with Amber, not you," said Kraven. "Very well," said Fate, and her voice vanished, Amber left sleeping in the demon's arms, looking as peaceful as could be... ----------------- A few hours later, they arrived in Greece. Kraven flew around for a while, searching for familiar energy signatures, and finally found one. But it was not the one he was looking for. He swooped down, and landed on a rooftop. He placed Amber gently on the floor and folded his wings away. "Rubedo," he said, walking towards the Guardian, "Tell me what you've done!" He grabbed Rubedo by the shirt collar and hauled him to his feet, "What have you done? I felt the massing of the Guardians, Rubedo! You're bringing them to destroy all of us!" "I am only doing what needs to be done to restore the balance," the Guardian stated calmly. "Shut up about your god-damn balance! I know all of us have to die to make things right again, but you are doing this far too early! Allow Reoan to fight Adiol, then you can put right this universal error!" "You underestimate us, Kraven," said the Guardian, grabbing Kraven's hands and pulling them from his shirt collar, "If you belive I am going to let all this happen straight away, you are wrong, demon!" With that, Rubedo grabbed Kraven by the neck, and slammed him against a wall. Plaster dust floated down. "Do not interfere with matters you know nothing of, Kraven!" shouted Rubedo, dropping the demon and walking away. "At least tell me what you have done! It's all I ask!" shouted the demon... (OOC: Hope this is ok, Kairi, PM me if its not and I'll edit)
13. "Where can I show you that would be safe?" asked Jake, "I don't think displaying my abilities in a pub is the best idea." "No, I don't, either," replied Esther, "I suggest we go back to my flat. There's enough room there for if your abilties need it, and we have all sorts of equipment back there." "Sounds good to me," said Jake, following her out of the bar. They walked a short distance, then took a bus. "So, firstly, I need to ask you, what would your opinion be of Project SOUL from what you've seen and heard?" Esther asked. "Well, I would think that the information you've given me is pretty biased, and as I have only just heard of this Project SOUL, it's pretty hard for me to make up my mind. But from what I know so far, I have to say I'm disgusted at the government. I mean, who do they think they are to try and control the masses? Its taking away free will, something which should never be done," replied Jake, with a small look of disgust forming on his face. Esther didn't say anything. She merely smiled and leant back in her seat. After a few minutes, she pressed the bell and they got off the bus, walking a few hundred metres to Esther's flat. Once they got inside, Jake pulled off his jacket and hung it on a hook. Her apartment was pretty large, but not overly furnished. There was plenty of space in the area, definitely enough for Jake to move around in. "Ok, when you're ready, show me your talents," said Esther, taking a seat. Jake nodded, and closed his eyes for a second, concentrating on what he needed to be doing. Then, in one fluid motion, he flipped forwards onto his hands, then back onto his feet. He did this a few more times, completely silently, before attempting a more outrageous movement. He flipped the top half of his body backwards, placed his hands on the floor, and twisted his legs up into the air, before pushing off the ground with his hands and grabbing onto some of the piping that ran across the ceiling, then flipped his legs up and flipped off the pipes, landing gracefully, and almost completely silently, ont the floor. "Very impressive. Superb acrobatic talent, would probably have been used for covert infiltration missions, possibly stealing weapons secrets or other such valuable information," said Esther into a small dictaphone, before standing up and walking over to Jake. "Is there anything else?" she asked. "There's one more thing. Do you have any firearms in your flat? Just small arms, handguns, that kind of thing?" he asked. Esther nodded and went to a different room, coming back after a few moments with a tray full of assorted handguns and other weapons. Jake took a handgun, an H&K USP, and took it apart in lightning speed, before reassembling it and aiming it, managing it all in a matter of seconds. Esther raised the dictaphone again. "Handgun disassembly and reassembly, as well as aiming at extremely high level. Almost definitely used for military purposes." Then she turned the dictaphone off and said to Jake: "If you're willing, then I'd like to say: Welcome to the team!"
14. "Greece?" exclaimed Kraven, disbelievingly, "Why do we need to go to Greece?" "I don't know," replied David, "But it is what Mistress Reoan has asked of us, and we will do it." "But sources have revealed that the Zodiac are gathering in Greece. Do we really want to take Reoan to a place where there are people gathering who want to kill her?" "We will take her, and we will not let the Zodiac kill her. Do you understand?" said David softly, but with a power that Kraven felt in the earth beneath his feet. "If that is what you wish, David, then so it shall be done," replied the demon, turning away from the Grigori to collect his weapons from the bed. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his head, and he fell to his knees. Blinding, searing pain that made red shoot across his vision. He gasped for breath as he clutched his head, and he felt his nose begin to bleed. Pressure was building up inside, the kind that could only be caused by one thing. "What is it, Kraven?" asked Amber, kneeling beside the demon, "What's happening?" "The pain..." he gasped, "Can only be caused by one thing...Something's happened...gathering of power...unstoppable force...we can't win..." "What is is, Kraven?" "Guardians..." he spluttered, then fell unconscious. ----------- "Is he awake?" someone asked, possibly Amber. "I'm awake," groaned Kraven, "What happened?" "We were about to ask you the same question," said Amber, "You collapsed, then said something about Guardians, then blacked out. We were worried about you. You've been out for over half an hour." "I saw something. I felt something, some gathering of power. I could barely keep the feeling inside my head from this distance. If I was that much closer, then it could have shut down my brain. The power...I've never felt anything like it before. The only thing it could have been was a massive gathering of powerful beings. It must have been the Guardians." Kraven got to his feet, wiping the dried blood from under his nose. He grabbed his swords and swung them onto his back. "If the Guardians come after us, we'll be prepared for them..."
15. Alex had already gathered his things, so straight after breakfast he headed down onto the lawn. Other people were already there, including Rowena, who had left the breakfast table rather quickly, and Professor Arcaine, who was handing out papers to those who were there already. Alex walked up to him and took a pack of papers with his name on them. "Professor Arcaine, looking at the maps, I think that while we should search the water, we should also search around the edges of the woods surrounding the lake." "That's good thinking, Alex," said the Professor, "But two things. One, which I think I have said to all the students here: call me Leo. Professor Arcaine makes me sound ancient. Secondly, while the woods are a prime spot for these students to have disappeared, we need to check out the lake primarily. Most of the people who have gone missing have disappeared near the lake. But well done for taking the initiatvie, Alex." "Thanks, Leo," he said, taking a quick look through his papers and then looking around. He saw Rowena, and strolled over to her. "Hey, Rowena," he said, "You left the table kinda quickly after I'd got there. Is anything up?" (OOC: Take it away, DC)
16. Jake shivered as he walked down the street, his breath clouding in front of him, his cheeks turned bright red from the biting wind. His eyes began to water as the wind became stronger and colder, and finally he allowed himself the small weakness of needing to duck into a pub somewhere. He almost threw himself through the door of the nearest pub he could find, and at once became overpowered by the intoxicating stench of tobacco smoke and liquor. He felt himself become slightly light-headed, and took a seat before he fell over and made a fool of himself. "Hey!" he shouted to the bartender, "Can I get a drink, mate?" "Sure," replied the bartender, "What can I get you?" "Anything to warm me up. Have you been outside lately? Its like the bloody Arctic out there." "I'll have to watch out for that, sir," said the bartender, casually managing to ignore everything that Jake had said. He poured a large glass of some strong-smelling liquor, and handed it to Jake. "Watch out," he said, "Its pretty strong stuff." Jake smiled at him and threw back the entire glass without so much as a shudder. He winked at the bartender, whose jaw dropped, and asked for a pint this time. He was given the drink, and he swivelled his barstool round to observe the clientele. There were men and women of all shapes and sizes, all races, religions, with a variety of heights, weights, and body shapes. But, out of all the people in the bar, one person caught his eye. A woman, sitting in a cubicle in the far corner, her laptop out, looking completely out of place in a place like this. She was not especially pretty, dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, her hair was tied into a braid which hung down her back. She seemed to be hard at work, as she was staring intently at the computer screen. There was something about her, however, which caught Jake's attention. He watched as she finished her drink, a Diet Coke as far as Jake could tell, ordered her another, and walked over to her cubicle with her drink in one hand and his own in the other. "Can I sit here?" he asked, smiling at her. She looked up and nodded. He took a seat and handed her the drink. "I got you a drink. Though you might be thirsty," he said. "Thanks, Jake," she replied with a smile. Jake took a double take at this. "How do you know my name...?" (OOC:PM me if there's anything wrong, Imi)
17. Ok, sorry about the confusion there. This is the final time I will sign up for this thread, I promise you! Mog: Please state your name for the record, along with any titles you may possess, kupo! Shadow: The name's Shadow. Shadow the Hedgehog. And you'd better not forget it! *waves gun at Mog* Mog: Threatening me will get you nowhere in this competition, Mr Hedgehog! Wemay have to take points off your score before you've even started, kupo! Shadow: Don't you "Mr Hedgehog" me, small fry! The name's Shadow, I thought I told you not to forget that! Mog: Anyway, we need to get on with the interview. Firstly, do you have the publicity photos we asked for? Shadow: Yeah, but you should realise how priviledged you are. These are the only two pictures of me in circulation. In case you hadn't heard, I'm kind of a wanted criminal. Here's the first picture. Look kinda moody, don't I? And now here's the second. You see the gun? Guess where that's going if you get on the wrong side of me? Mog: *squeaks* I already told you not to threaten me, kupo! Next question: What game or games do you feature in? Shadow: Well, I do feature in some of my idiot brother's games. That's Sonic the Hedgehog, by the way. Idiot. I was the bad guy in all those games, by the way, not the cissy good guy. Also, I star in my own game, named Shadow the Hedgehog. Pretty cool, huh? Mog: Very nice, kupo *sighs* Next question: What genre is this game in? Shadow: Its a platformer/shooter. I love crossing the genre divide. Mog: Interesting. How would you describe your personality? Shadow: I got one word for you: badass. I am no cissy, I'm not a little momma's boy like Sonic was, and I don't work for anybody. Some people think I work for the Eggman, but they're talking out of their *****. Shadow the Hedgehog works for Shadow the Hedgehog, and no-one else. I have never been a yes-man, and I never will be. Mog: So, you say you have a forceful personality, kupo? Shadow: Hell yeah! Mog: Very good. Ok, next question: what special skills or talents do you have? Shadow: Oh, you're gonna love this. I guess my main talent is my speed. I am a hell of a lot faster than that dweeb Sonic, even if he is two minutes older than me. Also, my shoes are much better. Mog: Could you get back on topic, please, kupo? Shadow: Don't rush me, tiny. My other main talent is my skill with a gun. Handguns are my speciality, but I do occasionally dabble in automatics. I'm also pretty handy in the old ring-collecting business. Mog: Ok, and final question: What is your reason for being here? Shadow: Well, aside from the fact that my parole officer said that it would count as part of my community service, I want to show the world that I am better than my loser of an older brother. They all love Sonic, and I want to show them who the top hedgehog is around here...(note: rambling continued for ten minutes after this, most of it was too obscene to be printed here). Mog: Well, thank you for making those interesting points, kupo. We'll get back to you as soon as possible. Now please get out of my office, kupo. Shadow: Smell ya later *makes obscene hand gesture*
18. Alex drained his pint and then walked out of the pub with Ashlyn, back to the bed and breakfast. He walked with her until they got to her room, then said goodnight and went back to his room. He pulled his clothes off and threw them onto a chair, before collapsing onto his bed, exhausted. He fell, almost instantly, into a dreamless sleep. ---------------------- The alarm flicked on at 6:30, and began to blare out at Alex. He woke up and rolled over, smacking the alarm clock with his clenched fist. The plastic cracked as he hit it. He groaned, knowing that he would now have to buy a new alarm clock, and slid out of bed. He dragged himself into the shower and twisted the release wheel, allowing steaming hot water to shoot out onto him. He stayed in there for almost twenty minutes, waking himself up completely. He dried himself and fished out some clean clothes for the day. He was about to leave the room when he saw the notice on his door. It was nailed there with an old-looking iron nail, and the message was written on heavy parchment. The writing itself was and old calligraphic style, and it read: "Lance, son of Avalon, we welcome you to our shores. However, your companions will not gain such an entry. The waters here are rough and deep. Be careful your boats do not go adrift..." Alex ripped the parchment down, read it over a few times, then folded it and placed it in his bag. He assumed it was some kind of practical joke, and left his room. But as he walked downstairs, he thought to himself: "The room was locked all night. I was in there all night. How could someone have gotten in, nailed a note to my door, gotten out and locked the door again without me noticing?" He shook the thought out of his head, deciding to keep focused on the job in hand, and joined the rest of the party for breakfast. Everyone seemed half-asleep, Patrick was definitely very hungover, as he seemed to be finding the contents of his bowl of cornflakes very interesting. "Morning, all," he said happily, "Everyone sleep well? Especially you, Patrick." Patrick groaned slightly. Alex smiled and poured himself a bowl of cornflakes and a cup of coffee, and sat down next to Rowena. "Morning, Rowena," he said, smiling, trying to spark up a conversation... (OOC: Hope that's ok, DC)
19. "Sanzo, you may want to concentrate on the horde of youkai coming to kill us rather than Kougaiji," said Hakkai, calm as ever, "There seem to be several million of them." "Where the hell are these guys coming from?" shouted Gojyo, slicing apart a group of youkai. "And how come there are so many of them?" replied Goku, before adding: "I'm getting hungry." "I think I've identified where they're coming from," said Hakkai, observing the scene calmly. "Where?" growled Sanzo. "The giant flaming wormhole that has just opened in the middle of the highway," he said, gesturing to the giant flaming wormhole that had just opened up in the middle of the highway. "You know what, Hakkai?" said Gojyo, "I think you might be right there." "Perhaps we should consider blocking the hole with something," shouted Kougaiji over the noise of the hordes of youkai. "Like what?" asked Dokugakuji. "Like this!"shouted Hakkai, suddeny exerting a lot of effort, and forcing his chi energy into a tight beam of energy, which sliced through the highway. He then used another blast of chi energy to force the chunk of concrete he had just cut from the road straight into the flaming wormhole. Both the Sanzo-ikkou and Kougaiji's team watched as the chunk of concrete lodged itself in the wormhole, which then collapsed in on itself with a massive implosion. The youkai that had been coming from it turned and watched as the wormhole collapsed, then turned on the team with renewed rage. "Well, it looks like we still have the visitors to deal with," said Gojyo, running forward, straight into the fray. Goku jumped and punched the air, before joining him. Sanzo took a slightly more restrained approach, walking calmly forwards into the mass of youkai, his pistol drawn. Kougaiji ordered his team into the fray. Hakkai was the last to join. He jumped nimbly over a charging group of demons, and blasted a bolt of chi energy at their backs, blowing them apart. He turned and joined in the fight... (OOC: I want each of you to make one more post fighting the youkai, and then I'll wrap it up in my next post. Then we'll move on to something more interesting...)
20. The door slammed shut as Talyn walked towards the prisoners. Their hands were chained to the ceiling, their feet hanging a few inches off the ground. They were all unconscious, dangling slowly. Talyn grabbed a bucket of water from the ground, put a finger in to make sure it was cold. It was freezing. He smiled, and threw the bucket over the prisoners. They were shocked back into consciousness, and saw their captor. "How much did it take for you to turn, Talyn?" spat Richard, "After all Kalei has done for you. You turn your back on everything just for what? The glory? Or are you just so weak the thirst has turned you so quickly?" Talyn raised his hand and delivered a vicious backslap to his face. He snarled, but he couldn't fight back. "Do not talk to me about that bitch Kalei! She was the one who drove me from the Wakanda! She obviously favoured Tegan and Katima above everyone else there! She wouldn't give anybody else the time they needed! If she had, I would be a hundred times stronger than I was when I turned!" he snarled. "How can you talk about Kalei like that after all she did for you?" shouted Thayne, "I'll kill you!" "And how do you propose to do that when you are chained up? And you are definitely too weak to call on your Wakanda magic. You are helpless, and we have you at our mercy," said Alec coldly. "What are you going to do?" asked Thayne, slight fear creeping into his voice now, "If you want to torture us for information then you're out of luck. We'll die before we give up any information." "We don't need information from you. All the information we could ever need is right here inside our friend's head," said Noals, gesturing towards Talyn, who smiled, showing his fangs. Thayne fell silent, and hung his head. "What's the matter, Wakanda? Have you finally realised that there is no escape for you? That resistance is completely and utterly futile?" snarled Noals greedily. "Not quite," said Thayne, before unleashing an inferno that engulfed the three vampires. But he tired quickly, and the three vampires came out basically unscathed, their clothes burnt, and their faces slightly singed, but overall pretty much unharmed. "It's going to take more than that to stop us, Wakanda. You are not at your full strength, so an inferno is not going to be strong enough to immobilise us. Try harder next time," said Talyn, grabbing the Wakanda by the scruff of the neck and punching him hard in the face. Blood splattered onto the floor from his mouth, along with a couple of teeth. Talyn walked back to the wall opposite the prisoners, and took his time choosing a particularly wicked-looking knife, curved and serrated, with an incredibly sharp point. He walked over to Jade, and raised it. "Prepare yourself, Jade. That chair you hit me with hurt, so now I'm going to repay that pain!"
21. This looks interesting, kind of like the film Equilibrium, I don't know if anyone on here has seen it, but its worth a watch. Name: Jake Preston Age: 21 Gender: Female Country: England Appearance: Here Personality: Jake is thoroughly British, through and through. He has the dry wit of an Englishman, along with a distaste for the weather. He has a biting sense of humour, which is used to disguise deep emotional scars. Programme: Jae has been programmed to be able to assemble and disassemble most handguns in circulation, as well as use them highly efficiently. His acrobatic talent has been increased, so he is lithe and nimble, able to infiltrate stealthily. Feelings Towards Project SOUL: Jake has deep dislike for SOUL, as they have taken control of his entire family. He was the only one lucky enough to escape from the government control. This is the one thing he has remained bitter about throughout his life. Most of the time he can roll with the punches, but he cannot stand Project SOUL. Character Snippet: A nimble, agile figure, silhouetted against the bright dispersing halogen lamps, flipped from his hands to his feet and back, passing through the criss-cross laser grid with surprising ease. He turned to admire his own agility, pausing for a second to smile, before turning back to the job at hand. He found the one computer terminal that was directly linked to the network, and booted it up. The whirring may have alerted someone, so he would have to be quick. He quickly typed in the username and password he had been given, and opened a program named "Missile Program." He looked through the contents of the file. It was full of blueprints for a new generation of heat-seeking missiles, powerful enough to wipe out large cities. He copied the documents onto a memory key, and deleted the original copies. Then, from the memory key, he released a virus, which would locate and wipe out any other residual information relating to the file he had just deleted. He switched the computer off, and took a small device from his pocket. He clamped it to the low glass ceiling of the computer room, and activated the device. A laser quickly cut a hole large enough for a grown man to fit through. He withdrew the device and pulled himself up through the hole. Within a few minutes, he was out of the compound, the military secrets stored in his pocket. It would be hours before anyone sounded the alarm, and by then he would be switched off... (OOC: I hope this is ok, PM me if I need to change anything)
22. I'd have to agree with Imi, and say that I'll most likely participate whatever the genre, but I would prefer a gaming one. I haven't ever participated in an OB Survivor before, but I have read through the older ones and I think it would be great fun to do. That's just my personal opinion.
23. "We can't use a burnt-out demon for our plans," said the demon standing over the body, "He'll endanger everything. We don't know if he could burn out completely at any moment." "That's the beauty of this," said the second, a horned, bull-like demon, "We can re-use his soul over and over again. We just need to transfer the soul into a different body, and he's perfectly fine again." "He's what we like to call a body-hopper," said the third demon, "He can shift bodies if he gets killed. Technically, he's the ultimate weapon." "Well has this so called weapon been tested yet?" asked the first demon again, "Do we know what he's capable of? Do we know what kind of destruction his hopping bodies could cause?" "Well, he hasn't been killed before now, so we haven't had to test it. But I'm sure that nothing bad will happen." "You're sure. That's supposed to make me feel better?" spat the first demon, "We have to destroy him. We have no idea what he could do." "Very well. You are the leader," said one of the other demons, with a shrug. He placed a hand on the ailing demon's forehead, and with a flash his body was gone. "Now we just need to send his soul back to the Inferno," said the demon, but as he turned to touch the soul, it flitted out of his grasp and flew to the sky. "We lost it!" "Then get it back!" "We have no way of getting it back, my lord. Once a soul has escaped Hell, we have no control over it. We couldn't get it back even if we wanted to." The first demon slammed his fist down on the table. It shook the entire room. "I want that soul!" "They haven't got it yet," thought Kraven as he sat in the apartment, waiting for Asariel and the others to get back, "And I don't plan on letting them. But how can I make sure they don't get my soul? The only way I can is by sticking close to Reoan, but does that make me seem weak? But the last two years, when I haven't been by Reoan's side, things have happened to me that I never thought could have happened. I've been killed more times that I can remember, mostly by demons. Will that change now I'm with Reoan again? I know I have to die anyway, in order to restore the balance, but its not my time yet. I have to kill Beelzebub, and Satan, and I want to see Reoan kill Adiol. Then it will be my time. And I will gladly give up and die when I need to, but not now. But I don't know how I should die. Should I fall in battle as I have done before? Or should I allow Reoan, or even Rubedo, to kill me when all this is over? Choices will come soon enough. But for now I must focus on the present. Beelzebub is the current threat, and Sartael. Afterwards I can worry about other things." (OOC: Sorry, slightly random post)
24. The door creaked as it opened, and a young, nervous figure walked through. The room he had just entered was dark, and had a strange sort of musty smell. "Hello?" he said through the darkness, "Is anybody there? Is this where I come for my interview?" Suddenly, with a bang, the lights came on, revealing a room painted stark white, a bright neon light illuminating the entire room, almost making the walls glow. At the opposite end of the room, which was much larger than he had first thought, there was a desk, at which two men sat. They were very different-looking men. One was clean-shaven, with a neat blond haircut, sitting very straight, in a crisp white suit, making him blend in with the walls. The other was slouched in his chair, stubble growing on his chin, his jet-black hair styled into lazy spikes, which flopped down occasionally over his face, his body covered by a black suit with a red tie, his outift put together rather sloppily. "Good afternoon," said the man in white, "Did you get here alright?" "Um...it wasn't signposted very well. You might want to get some new signs that direct you to here," replied the nervous-looking man. "Ah, excellent suggestion," said the white-suited man, "Now, would you like to take a seat, Mr Bendis." Mr Bendis sat down in the seat opposite the two men. He noticed immediately that the man in the black suit had a rather strange odour emanating from his person, a sort of mixture of cigarette smoke and tacky Indian takeaways. "Well, your files all seem to be in order. I've been looking through them. Very interesting reading," said White. "Oh yeah. Thrilling," said Black sarcastically, "I couldn't put it down." "You'll excuse my companion here. He doesn't get to interact with normal human beings very often," said White, shooting a dirty look at Black. "Now, Mr Bendis, you will either be taking the door on the left or the door on the right. Which do you think would suit you better? Remember, this decision will stay with you forever, so make it carefully." Bendis looked from the left door to the right. They both seemed to be perfectly normal doors, almost identical in fact, except for one thing. The door on the left had a white glow shining through the crack at the bottom, the door on the right had a red glow. "I honestly don't know," said Bendis, "To be honest, I can't really tell the difference." "Well, don't worry, most people say that," said white comfortingly, "We'll just have to take a quick look through your file, won't we?" He took an enormous file from the desk drawer and slammed it down onto the table. He opened it to the back and took out a single sheet of paper, with some numbers on it, arranged neatly into two columns. White looked up and down it, biting his lip in concentration. Then he turned his head to the sky, his eyes closed, as if he was working out a hard sum in his head. "Well, Mr Bendis, your numbers add up, and I'm afraid you won't be spending much more time with me," said White, "You will be taking the door on the right. We found some blips in your numbers, but these blips add up, you see." Black stood up and led Bendis to the door on the right. He smiled at Bendis, a wicked smile, showing teeth that were rather too pointed for Bendis' liking. "Welcome to my world," said Black, pushing the door open. Flames licked up around Bendis' ankles, and hideous, terrifying screams echoed from whatever was on the other side. black laughed as he saw Bendis' look of horror, and pushed him through the door, closing it behind him. Black went to sit back down next to White. "That's twelve million and one all, then," he said with a smile... ---------- There you go, a little short story for you. Please respond with contructive criticism, I always welcome it, and as an added bonus, I will give a prize* to anyone who can tell me what this story is about. *Disclaimer: Prize does not actually exist
