1. Whoah, hold up there Gavin. I wasn't aware we were ever toying with that idea - or at least if we were then nobody told me! I'm not opposed to the idea myself, I was just a little surprised there when I saw your post.
2. Absolutely no problem at all, it's all changed now. I just thought portraits didn't really need a full-body shot. But it's all good, I changed it now.
3. Name: Dawlish Almagest Age: 39 Your Position Inside The Almagest Family: Dawlish is Leonhart's youngest cousin, the son of his youngest brother. Your Portrait: Dawlish Your Occupation: Dawlish is one of the head researchers at the Magitech Corporation. He oversees the Weaponsmiths, the Potionists, the Gadgeteers, everyone who works there, and reports directly back to his cousin, Leonhart. Dawlish is also quite an accomplished Gadgeteer, being quite proficient in the form of Magitechnology that applies itself to Gadget-making. When he is not supervising in the many labs of the Corporation, he will often be found in his lab, tinkering with any number of new inventions. Your Story: Dawlish was one of the less promising Almagests. He always seemed to live in the shadow of his cousins, both Leonhart and Daedalus, both of whom were far more intelligent, stronger, faster and just overall better than him. He was a good-looking child, but not as good-looking as Leonhart. He was strong, but not as strong as Daedalus. With no brothers of his own, the only figures he was ever compared to were his cousins. However, Dawlish grew up, and focused his mind. He believed firmly that while some were born with greatness, others were supposed to work hard towards it, and that he was one of the ones who needed to work. As soon as he was old enough, he made sure to grab a job in the Magitech Corporation, as a supervisor of the mining facilities in Brigit Town. However, when he was just twenty years old, he was caught in a horrific explosion, which ripped part of the facility apart, and injured him quite badly. He was bed-ridden for a number of months, and almost lost his vision. However, the finest Potionists were employed to create a salve to ease the burns, and eventually they healed up. He was left, however, with a scar across his left eyebrow, and he completely lost his right leg, having to have it replaced with a mechanical replica, powered entirely by Magitechnology. He has since taken up a safer position at Magitech Corporation, and worked his way up through the ranks to become one of the head researchers. But the accident which left him limping and, in his opinion, "crippled," has made him a much older man than his years. He is cynical and often employs his extremely dark sense of humour.
4. Just to let you know I've just made a post, but OB is being screwy on me and it's not registering on the forum or thread listings. Bloody screwy OB. And Gavin, you'd better watch out, 'cause Commander Stark is a-comin' your way!
5. Stark read the message given to him with a poorly supressed feeling of rage building inside him. It was a full report of what had happened when the men he had sent personally to Berlin to retrieve Eoghan Kearney, that most infamous of brigands and something of a nemesis to Stark, and it was not enjoyable reading. The young man who had delivered the message stood nervously in front of the desk that thankfully stood between them, wringing his long, thin hands and occasionally running one through his lank, greasy hair. "Is this a joke?" said Stark finally, gesturing towards the message, "Did one Irish librarian and an old German man escape the finest officers in the world?" "Actually, s-sir, the German was killed in the struggle..." "But so was Captain Hyde-Parker, and both of his men. How do you explain that, boy?" Stark got to his feet sharply, slamming his hands down on the desk, causing the boy to flinch rather unnecessarily. "I...I don't know how it happened, sir..." stammered the young man, his eyes flicking between Stark's face and the door. "Get out of my sight," sighed Stark, sinking back into his chair and watching as the boy scampered out of the door, slamming it shut behind him. He closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair, trying to assess the situation, when he was interrupted by a knock. "Come in," he said irritably, opening his eyes again and leaning forward. David White, one of the many Inspectors around, walked in and stood in front of him. "Sir, we've just received new intel regarding one Eoghan Kearney. It seems he is leaving for Vienna tonight, for a safehouse." "Do we know which one?" asked Stark, his face showing a renewed sense of hope in the chase. "We do indeed, sir. We managed to intercept a message he was sending warning of his arrival. We already have men in Vienna preparing. All they need is your word." "How quickly can you get it to them?" "As soon as tomorrow morning, sir." "Excellent. Send word on - I'm going to Europe. When they find Kearney, I want to be the one to rip his heart out." "Sir, don't you think there are more pressing matters to attend to here? The King's safety, for example?" "There is nothing more vital to the safety of the monarchy than apprehending known revolutionaries like Eoghan Kearney. I need to get to Vienna as quickly as possible, and under darkness if at all possible. I need you to arrange this, White, and then pack your bags. You're coming with me." "But sir, I have important things to attend to..." "Suspend your duties until we return, Inspector White. I need your assistance in Vienna." "Very good, sir," replied White hesitantly, "Oh, also, the Assistant Commissioner wanted to see you." "Regarding what?" "I have no idea. He said it was urgent." "Very good. Go and prepare for our journey, White." Stark got to his feet, following White out of the office and heading down the corridor towards the Assistant Commissioner's office. Rapping on the door smartly with his knuckles, he was allowed entry. "Ah, Richard," said the Assistant Commissioner, a well-built but aging man, "Please, sit down." "I'd rather not - can we make this brief, Assistant Commissioner? I've got a lot of work to do." "Fair enough," the Assistant Commissioner took his glasses off his nose and placed them on the desk in front of him, steepling his fingers in front of him, "Richard, we've decided to promote you to Commander. You've done wonderful work, and the results have been nothing short of spectacular. You're an infamous man, you know. We felt that the secret police service needs strong men like you to lead them. Welcome to the real police force, Richard." The Assistant Commissioner handed over his new badge, which Stark took and replaced his old one with. "Thank you, sir," he said, stony-faced, "I will do King and Country proud, or I will die trying." "Well, try not to die, Richard," said the Assistant Commissioner, "We don't like losing our Commanders. You are dismissed." Stark snapped a salute and stepped out of the office. Commander Richard Stark was heading to Vienna.
6. This looks really interesting, and I'm looking forward to it going up for Auditions. I think you'll definitely be seeing an audition from me. Just a couple of questions: you say that everyone will be part of the same family, but they won't all be related by blood - is that just a marrying-in thing, or is there something else to it? Secondly, is there some kind of hierarchy in Czenoble? As in, does it work down from a King or Queen, or Prime Minister or whatever, through the aristocrats, or is it more like a Senate kind of deal? Other than those, I don't think I have any more questions for you - this seems like a really well-thought out idea. Congratulations!
7. Adam stumbled into the safehouse, slamming the front door behind him, and almost collapsing onto the hall carpet. An icy cold ran through his body, and yet he was soaked through with sweat. He kept one pale hand clamped over the bullethole in his shoulderblade, and although he continued to apply pressure to it, blood was beginning to trickle between his fingers in sticky rivulets. He staggered into the kitchen, grabbing a tea towel and ripping his shirt off, throwing the bloody garment onto the floor, and wrapping the towel around his shoulder as a makeshift bandage. Then he ran the sink full of hot water, and grabbed another towel from the rack, ripping it up into shreds and soaking them in the water. He pulled back the bandage gingerly, and pressed one of the pieces of cloth against the wound, trying to clean the blood away. Then there was a sound of a key being forced into a lock, and the jiggling that came with it, before the door was pushed open, and a middle-aged woman stepped inside the house, her arms full of shopping. She stopped as she heard the taps running, dropped the shopping and opened a drawer, pulling out a revolver and sneaking towards the kitchen. She pushed the door open, and swung the revolver in Adam's direction, before realising who he was and lowering it. "Adam," she sighed, relief showing in her voice, "What have you gotten yourself into this time?" She walked over to him, and saw the bloody towels. "You've been shot again, haven't you? And you've ruined my best towels. Whatever am I going to do with you boys?" "Please, Angela," Adam gasped, his legs becoming weak, "Help me..." "You'd better come through and lie on the couch," she said, helping him into the living room, where she laid him down on the couch, and knelt in front of him, her hands hovering over his chest. "It's a nasty one this time. Who did it?" "Gabriel..." "Gabriel Fullbrook? I knew that boy would be trouble, ever since the day I met him." "Boy? Gabe's older than most people in the Corporation. He's probably older than you, Angela." "Don't sound so surprised! I'm not that old, am I?" "Sorry, Angela..." "Never mind. Let's get you sorted out." She placed her hands on Adam's chest, approximately opposite the bullet wound, and closed her eyes. When she opened them, a sort of serene peace had washed over her, almost as if she was in a trance, and she closed her hands slowly until they were balled up into fists on his chest. All of a sudden, Adam gasped, and his eyes snapped open again, and he felt something metallic in his mouth. He raised his hand and spat the mouthful out into it, and saw a small, battered bullet laying in his palm. "Thanks, Angela," he said with a smile, "You're a lifesaver. Quite literally, actually." "Well, it's what I'm here to do. Now we need to find you a shirt - can't have you running around like that, you'll catch your death." She got to her feet and left the room, leaving Adam to sit up in his own time. Angela used to be the chief medic at the Corporation, mostly because she had the power to heal other organic life - that's why her house was always full of flowers - they never died on her. She retired a few years ago, but allowed the Corporation to use her home as a safehouse from time to time. And that's why Adam had to get out as quickly as possible. A few moments later, Angela came back in, a long-sleeved black shirt in her hands. "I just found this in the spare room - it looks about your size. In fact, I think Gabriel left it here last time he came to see me." She handed Adam the shirt, and he pulled it on. "Thanks, Angela," he said again, buttoning the shirt up and heading for the door. "Oh no, Adam," she said, stopping him in his tracks, "Don't think you're getting out of here without telling me why Gabriel shot you." "It's a long story, Angela, and the longer I stay here..." "The more danger I'm in, yes Adam I've heard all the lines before. I can handle myself fine, I just want you to tell me what's going on. In all my time at the Corporation I've never known one agent to shoot another, so tell me what's happening or I won't heal you next time." "Alright," said Adam, sitting her down, and he told her everything as quickly and succinctly as he could. "You've come up with a good plan, Adam," she said, leaning back, "But was it really necessary to get yourself shot?" "That wasn't really part of the plan - someone got in the way and Gabe had to improvise." "Ah, yes. He usually forgets that other people aren't quite as invincible as he feels sometimes." "Exactly. So now you know why I have to go, Angela. They'll know I'm here, and they're going to send someone round to find me and kill me. I've got to get somewhere they'll never find me, at least until I can figure out what's going on." "Then you'd better go," she said, "And take this with you." She held out her revolver to him. "No, Angela, you need that to protect yourself. I'll be fine, I can handle myself." "I insist, Adam. I've never liked the things, anyway - they're not going to hurt an innocent, unarmed woman, now, are they?" "I wouldn't put it past them," said Adam, grudgingly taking the weapon and heading to the door. "Good luck, Adam," Angela said, waving him off and closing the door. "I think I might need it," said Adam to himself, striding across the street...
8. Stark had ensured that his men had totally hollowed out the revolutionary safehouse, taking everything that could be seen as being anti-monarchistic and dragging it out to the back garden, where men and women were being forced to kneel on the ground, their hands shackled. Stark's hard leather shoes clicked on the cobbles as he paced up and down the line, his hands behind his back. "Seems to me we have a problem here," he said, his voice crisp and clear in the cold morning air, clouds of vapour billowing from between his lips as he spoke, "The King is not happy. He finds the very idea of people like you opposing him in his very own country sickening. The King is sick, you ignorant dogs, and when the King is sick, we do everything we can to make him feel better." "Does lickin' 'is arse make 'im feel better?" asked one with a thick West Country accent, most of his teeth missing, the ones remaining black with rot. Stark's head snapped around to look at this wretch, and he strode over to him, long black cane in hand, and he cracked the metal bulb on the end into the side of the man's head with a single, fluid motion. The man fell sideways to the floor, unable to clamp a hand over the gout of blood that was pouring from his temple. "Does anybody else feel like admitting they are a traitor not fit to lick the boots of our mighty King? Or must I make an example of this man?" boomed the Chief Superintendent. He was met with silence, and stony faces all round. "Very well," he said, signalling to two of his men, who grabbed the man by the shoulders and dragged him over to the garden wall, where they slung the chain of his shackles over a tree branch, leaving him hanging limp. They then proceeded to rip every shred of clothing off the man's back, exposing dirty skin, patched red with an awful rash in places. Stark strode over to the prisoner, held up his cane, and smacked the object into the man's back, which resulted in an ear-piercing scream. He raised the cane again and hit him over and over again until fresh blood poured out of the wounds. Then he signalled to another of his men, who went inside the house, and after a lot of banging and crashing, came out with a barrel under his arm. He began to splash the liquid inside over the man's wounds, and this ended in more ear-piercing screams as the metallic smell of fresh blood mingled with the acidic scent of vinegar in the air. "This is what happens to those who oppose the King. And you don't think anyone will miss him, do you?" said Stark, wiping the smear of blood off the end of his cane with a pristine white handkerchief. He drew a pistol from inside his coat, turned and in a graceful motion levelled the weapon and fired. The man slumped, dead, as a red shower erupted from his chest. "Now let's see what we have here," Stark said, wandering casually over to the pile of confiscated materials, consisting of paintings, tapestries, books and other such banned items. As he knelt down to look at some of the items on display, the women in the line-up weeped, the men raging at their sides. "What's this?" asked Stark, holding up a picture of a man in woman's clothing, a particularly crudely-drawn piece of artwork, "Is this...the King? Dressed as a woman? Did you really think this would bring down the state? You are pathetic, you fucking disgraceful, cowardly revolutionary pieces of filth." He got to his feet, throwing the painting down onto the pile with vigour. Turning to his men, he simply said: "Burn them. Burn all of them," and then, gesturing towards the row of people, "And then kill them all." Stark strode masterfully out of the garden, to the screams and pathetic protests of the men and women in the garden. He pulled a silver hip flask from his jacket, twisted the cap off with all the precision of a well-trained alcoholic, and drained half the flask, shuddering as the viscous liquid burned his throat. A good morning's work, by any measure.
9. I'd kick Deus Ex Machina in the nads for £1,000,000. Actually, scratch that, I'd do it for free.
10. Sorry for my sudden disappearance - both computers I could use are currently broken and I can only get online at college. Hopefully my computer should be back from the repair shop next week sometime, but until then don't expect me to be around all that much. Gavin, in answer to your question, the Corporation has been around for about 25-30 years. Due to the secretive nature of the organisation, though, this fact cannot currently be proved. EDIT: Genesis Casefiles is now up for your perusal - the Anthology's being strange so it's not registering on the forum list, but it is up! So have fun with it!
11. Name: Chief Superintendent Richard Stark (most commonly known just as "Stark") Age: 31 Country of Origin: England Personality: Sadistic and cruel, some people might even call Richard Stark "heartless," but nothing could be further from the truth. The heartless have no capacity to love, but Richard Stark loves his country, he loves the peace that the monarchy has set out, and he loves his leaders. This love creates an almost fanatical devotion to his job, and that devotion in turn leaves no room for loved ones - he is unmarried, single, without a friend in the world. The closest he ever gets to a relationship is a single night of meaningless sex with a faceless woman, whom he instantly forgets. So while he is not heartless, Stark is cold, distant and has no mercy for lawbreakers. Appearance: Here - One of the very few pictures of Stark smiling. It seems as though he always wears the same simple black suit in his job, and it covers a well-formed figure, lean but muscular, and he is fairly attractive, although his work leaves no time for trivial matters such as appearance. Family History: Stark wasn't born into a particularly wealthy family by any means - his father worked hard at school and university to become a lawyer, and his mother was a schoolteacher. The ideas of a peaceful society such as the Britain that his parents knew was bored into his mind from birth, and as such he came to love it unconditionally. It even made him agree with his dad's arrest for treason when he was just twelve, and as he saw his mother descend into alcoholism and depression, his fervour became even stronger. That was what made him want to become a police officer, and it was his devotion to the cause that allowed him to rise up through the ranks so quickly and efficiently. Occupation: Until recently, Stark was a Superintendent in the Metropolitan Police. However, his expertise was needed by Britain's secret police force, and he has quickly risen to infamy as one of the most powerful counter-revolutionaries in the country. Social Standing: Stark has become quite well-off from his ventures in the police service - he has a number of medals to his name which raises his social standing quite significantly. He has an apartment in Mayfair, which he rarely spends time at due to his busy schedule. Have you ever had Revolutionary Thoughts?: Don't be absurd. As one of the top counter-revolutionary agents in the country, Stark's devotion to the monarchy is what gives him strength and social standing. ooc: I hope this is alright - I thought you could use a counter-revolutionary in the mix
12. Kreid watched on silently as another of the Versilan military bases was demolished, flames ripping through the structure and the building collapsing from a lack of structural integrity. He sighed a little - he wanted this undercover work to be done with - he wasn't sure how much more the Versilan army could take from the Resistance. "We've done it, Kreid," said Hirtius, one of the few men who was still with him since the attack on the research facility, "We've almost liberated London. We're so close now, can't you feel it?" "Couldn't have done it without you, big guy," said Kreid, feigning ecstasy and clapping his colleague on the shoulder. He laughed along with the man, but he knew that the triumph wouldn't last long. "Come on, we've got to get to the next military base," said Hirtius, jogging out ahead of Greydon. Kreid began to follow, but then his communication device went off. He hooked it into his ear and answered the call. "Kreid, this is Commander Landers," came the voice from the other end, "Can you hear me?" "Loud and clear, sir." "Good. You've done good work so far on those military bases, Kreid. Now I have a special assignment for you - you're to leave the others to handle the rest of the military bases." "Yes, sir?" "You're to join a team I've assigned to find the Resistance safehouses across the USA. You're to find any members of the Resistance and bring them in safely - there could be some high-ranking members in there, so you need to be careful. Do you understand?" "Absolutely, sir." "But there is one more thing which I need you to see to personally. Do not divulge any information of this to any other members of the team. I need you to find the sister of Jason Sanders, a certain Sara Sanders, and give her special priority. She should be in one of the safehouses, but we don't know precisely which one. We need you to scour each of them to find her and bring her back to the flagship as soon as you find her. Is that clear?" "Crystal, sir." "Good man. You'll need to rendez-vous with the US team at the coast - there should be some transports close to get you there. Good luck, Kreid." "Thank you, sir," replied Kreid, switching his communications device off and heading towards the transports. --- It was only a few hours later that Kreid touched down in the USA - the transport ships were a lot faster than the old styles of conventional travel. Kreid jumped out of the transport ship and his feet landed on crunchy ice. He lifted his rifle and ran towards a large warehouse a few hundred metres away - the first of the safehouses. He was the first in, knocking the door down with a swift kick and running inside, flicking the torch on his rifle on and shining the beam into the thick darkness ahead. "Hello?" he called out, trying to find anyone within the building, "We're Resistance - we're here to help you." "Resistance?" came a reply, reverberating around the large, empty room, "Are you sure?" "We're here to help," said Kreid, shining his torch towards the voice, and it found a young, frightened-looking man, his brown hair tousled, his sunken cheeks pale and his eyes bloodshot, standing at the top of a flight of stairs. "Thank god you're here," he said, "There's dozens of us upstairs - we've been here for weeks, trying to avoid the Versilans." "Don't worry - we're here to help. Can you tell me where the highest-ranking official is?" "I'll take you to him. His name's Delano - he'll be so pleased you're here." The panicked-looking man seemed to relax a little, and began to run through the network of corridors that formed the upstairs of the warehouse, with Kreid following behind him. Eventually they got to an office-like space, which presumably used to belong to the owner of the warehouse, where there was an old man with silver hair and a soft, kind-looking face. "Sir, this is a soldier of the Resistance. He says he's here to help us." "Ah!" said the old man, delight showing in his eyes, "Thank the lord you're here! Leave us, Benjamin." The younger man rushed out of the room, probably to tell everyone that their salvation was here. "Mr Delano, sir, we're here to evacuate you all. But I need to ask you something first." "Anything, dear boy, anything at all, just ask." "I need to know if you know the whereabouts of Sara Sanders. She should be in one of the safehouses on this continent, but we don't know which one. Do you know where she is?" "My dear boy...didn't you know? Sara Sanders has been shipped off-world." "Off-world?" "Yes. She's one of the most wanted people in the galaxy - the Versilans would burn this planet to the ground if they thought it would lead to the capture of Sara Sanders. We thought it safer all round if no-one knew the whereabouts of her. The galaxy is a lot safer this way." "She's not even on Earth?" "That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm sorry that your work here has been misled, but your objective is not here." "In that case..." said Kreid, pulling a phial of a strange, translucent-purple fluid from a container strapped to his leg, "This should be enough for my superiors." "What are you doing? Daniel Landers must have sent you, am I correct? So he is your superior?" "That's what they believe. I work for a higher power than Daniel Landers, or even the New Alliance itself." "You're one of them! A Versilan! How did they infiltrate you into the Alliance?" "I work for no-one but the High Council themselves," replied Kreid, filling an injector gun with the purple liquid. "You're...you're an operative..." said the old man, gasping for air through panic, "They've sent an operative in..." "That's right. And I've seen enough Versilan work destroyed today - I'm doing this for the grand Versilan Army." He finished filling the gun and grabbed the old man by the scruff of the neck, jabbing the needle into the soft flesh of his neck, "Don't worry. You are but the first of many Alliance casualties today." The old man looked into Kreid's eyes with pure fear across his face, and began to choke on his own breath. He began to spasm, and Kreid dropped him to the floor, where his arms and legs flailed, slapping against the concrete floor. He foamed at the mouth, and then he fell still. Kreid waited a few seconds before walking over to him and wiping the foam from the corners of his mouth. "What's happened?" came a voice from the doorway. Kreid whirled around and saw Benjamin standing there, shocked. "He...he got so excited about getting off-world," said Kreid, injecting his words with sadness and shock, "Then he...he collapsed. I tried to resuscitate him, but I couldn't. His old heart was too weak. I'm so sorry." "Delano?" gasped the man, kneeling next to his superior, "Delano?!" "Benjamin, come on," said Kreid, hauling the man to his feet, "There's no time right now. You can mourn when we get off-world. Right now we need to get everyone out of here, ok?" The young man nodded. Kreid led him out of the office and down to where the other fugitives were staying, and he could barely keep a smile from crossing his face...
13. "How could Brannigan do this?" asked Gabriel as he and Adam stepped out of the hospital room, "I mean, we've known him for years, I just don't understand how he could betray us. Makes me sick." "We need to speak to Matthews," Adam said, striding ahead of Gabriel towards the office belonging to the head of the Corporation, "Right now." "We can't let Matthews know about this. He'll go absolutely spare, and you know he's gonna make this whole fucking thing our fault." "That doesn't matter. We need to let him know what Brannigan's done, otherwise the whole Corporation could be compromised before long." "How do you mean?" "I mean that this could go deeper than either of us expect. We don't know if Brannigan was acting independently, or if he was part of a larger group of moles. There's no way of telling which we're dealing with." "And if it turns out there are more moles..." "Then how didn't we notice them until now? They've been hidden far too well. There could be dozens of people killing innocent civilians right under our noses, and we'd never know because we never suspect our own." Adam knocked on the door, and then pushed it open, walking into the plushly furnished office. There was a man sitting behind the desk, his dark hair short and flecked with grey at the temples, and a pair of large spectacles rested on the bridge of his nose. He smiled at Adam, and ignored Gabriel. "Adam," he said, his voice clear and sharp, "How are you? Terrible incident with Brannigan, terrible." "Sir, we need to run extensive checks on every member of staff at the Corporation. Brannigan might not have been the only one: there might be dozens more moles inside the Corporation itself." "Adam, please," said Matthews, leaning back in his leather chair, "There's no need to overreact. We have extensive measures in place to...remove...any rogue elements in the Corporation. There is absolutely nothing to worry about?" "Nothing to worry about?" yelled Adam, sweeping his arms out and hurling everything that sat on Matthews' desk across the room, "Brannigan killed people. He killed people and removed every trace of psychic energy from them. Do you understand how dangerous he could be?" "Brannigan has no ability to remove psychic energy, Adam, you know that better than me. It's impossible." "Then he was working with someone else! Can't you see, Matthews? This organisation has been corrupted to its very core! You need to find out how deep this goes!" "I know just how deep it goes, Adam," said a voice from behind him. He turned around and saw Gabriel pointing his gun directly at Adam's head. "Gabe..." "I've seen the records of all your communications, Adam. You contacted Brannigan as he was killing those people, and you're the only one in the Corporation who has even the slightest of an ability to remove psychic energy. You've been working with him all along, haven't you, Adam?" "He's given me all the information, Adam," said Matthews, "It adds up against you, Adam. We're going to have to take you in." "No," said Adam, turning to Gabriel, his eyes blanking out as they had done in the apartment building earlier that evening, and he channelled every ounce of his psychic energy and blasted it at Gabriel, hurling him through the doors and into the wall opposite, the weight of his body smashing through the plasterboard and slamming him to the floor. Then Adam ran through the corridors to escape. "Adam!" said Shaylin as he ran into her, "Where are you going?" Adam didn't answer, moving her out of the way as a bullet slammed into his shoulderblade, sending him spinning to the floor in a shower of blood. He groaned and got to his feet as Gabriel pursued him with his handgun drawn, his clothes and hair covered in plaster dust. "Stop it!" yelled Shaylin, stretching her hands out towards Gabriel and watching as vines and creepers cracked through the the concrete floor and lashed around Gabriel, pulling him to the floor. Adam ran, hurling himself into the crowd of newcomers, his hand clamped over the bullethole in his shoulder, blood pouring out in thick rivulets between his fingers. He reached the doors, then concentrated and disappeared from thin air. He rematerialised outside the front of the Empire State Building, below which lay the headquarters of the Genesis Corporation. He pressed harder down onto his wound and headed towards the nearest safehouse, just a few blocks away...
14.
Weren't you gay as well? Last I checked, all machines are female by tradition, which means you are a bit jealous because they don't and probably won't make male robots. And what is to say that a machine could not be constructed that can't love and be affectionate the same as a human can? Nature has rules for how it works, if you reproduce those rules into another medium they will ideally still work the same. TO date it has proven more difficult than we believed it would be, but that doesn't mean it won't ever be done. The only real issue with a human falling in love with a robot is that it would dead-end the reproduction tree, being that it would be similar to when two different species of animals mate typically they do not produce young- or when they do it is sterile.
Ok, this is just bizarre. You say that there are no male robots, which is true, I suppose, but that's because there are also no female robots either. Robots, as they exist now, are sexless (by which I don't mean they're not getting any, I mean they're genderless). Do you believe that your microwave is a girl? Your TV? So I don't think SunfallE is jealous, I think you are misguided as to other people's opinions on the matter. Technically, there will never be male or female robots, as being male or female is dependant on genes, which robots are somewhat lacking in. Also, overall, you're really taking this subject far too seriously. As far as I can work out, The13thMan only intended this to be a tongue-in-cheek thread topic, not some philosophical debate about the morality of doing a robot. So, if you want to do it with a robot instead of going out and meeting real people, then that's totally up to you. Just don't assume that everyone else is going to prefer robot sex to real sex (and I can't honestly believe I just said that in a post, or anywhere for that matter), and that if they claim that they don't, you can't just assume that they're jealous because there are no male robots?
15. Cyriel, there will be a little more direction to the game once everyone is back at HQ. After some of the stuff that happened to Adam in my last post, the story will be shaken up a little bit fairly soon, and the identity of the head of GenCorp will be revealed. The only thing I can think of for you to do at the moment is to get used to your new surroundings and interact with a few of the other characters around. Other than that I'm going to leave it up to you. Also, now seems to be a good chance to reveal the newest part of GenCorp - this is an idea I had a while ago, and you guys can give me some feedback about it. Genesis Casefiles This will be a new thread in the Anthology, one which I hope will allow everyone to explore their characters a little further. It will be open to anyone participating in the RP to post stories or other literature regarding their own characters or new ones. For the Genesis Operatives, these stories could be how you were recruited, or some of your previous objectives. For the civilians, they could be how you discovered your powers, or how you came to terms with them. And they don't just have to be stories either, they can be newspaper articles, poems, song lyrics, anything you want. This is a good way to flesh out the backstories of your characters, as well as introduce new ones, and new elements of the story. I think this could be a fun idea, so if you could give me some feedback on it, then I will post the thread in the Anthology as soon as possible.
16. Adam left Gabriel to look after Dana, and walked out of the medical wing. He felt Dana was a little taken with Gabriel - it was understandable, really. He ran a hand through his hair and opened a door into the open area of the headquarters. He was stopped in his tracks by the sheer number of people inside. He saw Felix and immediately headed over to him. "Felix!" he shouted, jogging over, "What's the situation?" "We've got around forty people in here alone. About sixteen more in the medical wing - we're stretched to capacity already, and Jake, Acacia, Vincent and Adrian haven't even gotten back yet." "Are Hiroshi and Brannigan back yet?" "They just got in. Brannigan's in the medical wing, says he got concussion or something. Hiroshi's checking people in, just over there." "What about Jules and Catherine?" "Catherine's back, but Jules...Jules is dead." "...how?" "Murdered. Some guy in a hood managed to throw him off the top of building, and Catherine couldn't catch him. His body's in the medical wing - we're trying to get time to do an autopsy, but we're totally swamped." "It's fine," said Adam, clapping a hand on Felix's shoulder, "We've got more important things to worry about right now. I'm going to go check in with Brannigan - I'll be back in a little while. In the meantime, if you see a girl called Shaylin, let me know." "Oh, she was just looking for you. She's...over there, with the potted plant." "Alright, I'll just go and talk to her, and then I need to see Brannigan. Ill see you later, Felix." Adam walked over to Shaylin and knelt down next to her. "Adam!" she said, "Thank God. I've been waiting here for ages, and no-one seems to know what to do." "Listen, I'm really sorry - this is a really busy time for us, more so than usual. Do you need anything?" "No, I'm fine. I could really do with having something to do, though. All this waiting is killing me." "Well, we need as many hands on deck as possible. Could you help Felix check people in?" "Sure!" "Thank you, Shaylin, you're a lifesaver. Felix is just over there, tell him I sent you to help." Adam got to his feet and helped Shaylin to hers. He sent her over to Felix, watching as she went, and then headed off to the medical wing. "Kitson!" Adam called over to a young doctor coming out of a patient's room, "Where's Brannigan?" "Ummm...room 14," the doctor replied, "He's a little woozy, but he's gonna be ok." "Thanks," said Adam, and rushed past the doctor into Brannigan's room. The slightly older, dark-haired Irishman was lying on the bed, an ice-pack on his forehead. "Brannigan?" said Adam softly, "How you doing?" "It's like the worst hangover I've ever had. Some kid managed to throw me through a window - cut me up pretty bad, and I hit a table in some girl's apartment. Knocked me out for a while." "Wait..." said Adam, stepping into the room and closing the door behind him, "Someone threw you through a window? And knocked you out?" "Yeah. It was too dark, I couldn't see a damn thing, couldn't identify who it was." "Brannigan," said Adam coldly, "Don't. Fucking. Move." "What is this, Adam?" asked Brannigan, sitting up, "Are you accusing me of something?" "Yes," said Adam, pulling his handgun out of his holster and aiming it at the Irishman, "You tried to kill Shaylin Durant. You were the hooded man. Now stay down, or I will shoot you." "You're not gonna shoot me, Adam, you don't have the guts," the Irishman got to his feet, "And yes, I did try and kill that plant girl. And I broke Gabe's nose just to get away after I killed that other girl. And, I'm sorry, Adam, but you're gonna let me get away this time, too." As he spoke this last sentence, his voice grew deep and raspy, just as it had on the fire escape of Shaylin's apartment. Adam felt compelled to step aside and let Brannigan out of the door, and he couldn't explain why. "See you later, Adam," said Brannigan with a grin, and slammed to door on Adam, who sank to the ground, unable to do anything else...
17. I've only got one thing to say on this topic: make sure your sex-bot is wired up properly otherwise you might get a shock in your [insert rhyming word here]
18. I constantly have a stash of half-written RP ideas, most of which never get past the initial ideas stage. Occasionally I get dedicated and motivated, and go ahead and write an entire RP idea out in one sitting, but the majority of the time they just splutter and die out. As for your RPs, Josh, I think that Baron Von Donut is...how do I put this? The best thing I've heard in a very long time. Shows how interesting my life is. But really, Time for Tea sounds like a really fun idea. "Eccentric agents" seems like it would be right up the street of many members of the 'Boards. I agree with the others - you'd be surprised how many people are interested.

dragoonreaper, the last post in this thread was over four months ago. You should probably get in touch with the other players of this RP to see if it is still going, but I'll take a guess and say that it might have died a long time ago. I'm going to make an executive decision and close this thread now, because from the amount of posts so far, the gap between posting and the post quality itself, I can't see this RP going any further. PM me if you have any questions. -Blayze
20. Artistically talented members of OtakuBoards, I need you! I am here to request a banner and avatar starring that most villainous of villains, Gabriel "Sylar" Grey. There's a picture attached which I thought would be good for this purpose, but if you feel that there's a better one, then please feel free to use it. As for the banner and avatar, I don't want any text on the avatar, but on the banner I would like the words "She's a shiny new toy...and she's all mine," if you use a picture of your own, but if you use the one I've attached then just the word "Boom" will suffice. Thank you very much, and I look forward to seeing the results!
21. I don't think I really have anything else to post in this section of the story - I've done my important bit so I think anything else I posted would just bog the story down a little. I look forward to my new objectives!
22. "I work for a company called the Genesis Corporation," Adam started, watching the young woman listening intently, "We track and monitor people...like you. People with special abilities, and we either recruit them or place them into general protection. This might sound like an invasion of privacy, but believe me, you'd be a lot less happy without them. The Government knows about people with special abilities, and they've been doing their best to try and have them all tagged and placed into camps." "Ok, I guess I can believe that. I mean, I couldn't be the only one, could I?" Shaylin said calmly, taking everything Adam was saying in, "But what's so important that you couldn't wait until morning?" "We've been around recruiting people this evening," replied Adam, "But we've failed on all counts. Everybody we've attempted to recruit has been dead, killed just before we got there, and...their eyes have been removed. We had to make an executive decision to get everybody on our database back to HQ. That's why it is imperative that you come with me. I'll be more than happy to answer your questions once we're back at base. So please, Miss Durant, will you come with me?" Shaylin Durant hesitated for a few moments, then turned back to Adam and nodded. "I'll come with you. Just give me a moment to get a few things," she said, getting to her feet and rushing around the small apartment gathering things, before running into the bedroom, presumably to get dressed. "Please hurry, Miss Durant," said Adam impatiently. "Hold on," called Shaylin, "Wait a second, you never told me your name!" "I'm so sorry, Miss Durant..." "Please, call me Shaylin." "I'm sorry, Shaylin," Adam replied softly, with a smile, "My name is Adam Jacobs." "Is that a real name?" Shaylin asked, "Or do you have code-names at this Corporation?" "No," Adam said with a chuckle, "That is my real name. We don't really believe in code-names. We're not trying to be the X-Men." "That's fair, I suppose," said Shaylin, coming out of the bedroom, now fully dressed, with a bag on her back and a potted plant in her arms. Adam raised an eyebrow at her and she replied with: "This is Crunch - he needs a lot of looking after." Adam decided not to argue this point, and simply nodded. "Come on," he said, grabbing her by the hand and walking quickly over to the door, but stopping as he placed a hand on it, "Wait," he whispered to her, stopping her in her tracks. "What is it?" asked Shaylin, but Adam silenced her with a raised finger. She looked a little taken aback, but kept quiet anyway. "This isn't going to work," whispered Adam, "There's someone coming this way. We're going to have to go up to the roof." "The roof?!" "I'm sorry about all this, but it's necessary," said Adam, running over to the window and yanking it open. He helped Shaylin out onto the fire escape, and ushered her up the ladder to the roof. He was about to get out himself when he was hit by something hard, knocking him onto the hard metal and winding him. As he sat up, he saw a shadowy, hooded figure like the one he had seen earlier, racing up the ladder behind Shaylin. He jumped to his feet and grabbed the ankles of this man, yanking him off the ladder. The man swung his foot up into Adam's gut, slamming him against the bars of the fire escape. "Don't try it," growled the man, his voice deep and raspy, "There's no use trying to stop this." "If I can't stop you, I can at least slow you down," said Adam, his eyes glowing with power, and he slammed his hand into the man's chest, a flash of blue lighting up the alley below, and the man slammed backwards through the window, shattering the glass and splintering the wood of the frame. He saw the man slam into the floor of Shaylin's apartment and lay still. In an ideal world, Adam would have liked to go and check the man's identity out, take off his hood and apprehend him, but Shaylin was in danger, and time was against them. So he raced up the ladder, and met Shaylin on the roof of the building. By now the rain was pouring down, and Adam's fringe was plastered over his forehead and into his eyes. He pushed his hair back with a stroke of his hand, and saw Shaylin standing on the roof, not really knowing what to do. "Come on," said Adam, "He's not going to be down for long." He ran over to the edge of the roof, with Shaylin following close behind, and grabbed the young woman's hand. "What are we doing?" she asked. "This is going to feel a little weird. It usually is the first time, and I haven't quite got the hang of it yet." "What? What are you talking about?" "Just grab my hand," said Adam, "And don't let go." Shaylin grabbed his hand, and he turned and ran towards the edge of the building, and leapt off, plunging downwards towards the floor of the alley, taking a screaming Shaylin in tow. He closed his eyes and concentrated, and as he opened them, his feet touched gracefully down onto solid concrete. He looked around, and saw that it had worked. "You can open your eyes, Shaylin," he said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, "We made it!" The young woman opened her eyes slowly, and was surprised by her surroundings. The pair of them were standing in a large, hangar-like construction, with high ceilings, but every surface was made of smooth grey metal. "What is this place?" she asked, looking around, "And how did we get here?" "Well, you're not the only one here who has special abilities, Shaylin," said Adam with a smile, "And as for where we are, this is the New York headquarters of the Genesis Corporation. Welcome." "This is incredible," she said, her eyes wide, "But where am I going to stay?" "If you go through that door, someone will help you to your room. Most probably there will be a man named Felix somewhere - I've told him to help everyone out." "You're not coming with me?" asked Shaylin. "There's too many more people out there that need to be brought back here. I'll be back in a couple of hours, and then I'll explain everything to you, I promise." "Alright," said Shaylin a little nervously, heading towards the door, "Good luck, Adam." "Thanks," he replied with a wink, before blinking instantly out of existence.
23. Not at all, Vicky, I like answering your questions. Basically all you need to do with the civilians is to bring them back in to the Genesis Headquarters, the location of which I am keeping a secret for the moment. How you do this is up to you, and anything can happen during the meeting - you can have a nice, civilised conversation, or a big ol' fight can break out - I'm leaving that entirely up to you.
24. inwardscream, the members of the Corporation will know each other, but the extent of this is up to you. Obviously more experienced members will know each other better than newer ones, but it is up to you how well you know the other members of the team. EDIT: Alright - the Operatives are now trying to find the civilians - Operatives, you will be finding the civilians that are being played by the others - obviously Adam has found Shaylin (Frankie, how the meeting goes now is up to you, but it shoud end with Adam taking Shaylin back to HQ), but the rest of you need to find the civilians as quickly as possible. Obviously there are less civilians than there are operatives, so if you're left without a civilian played by someone involved in the RP, then create an NPC, or find the civilian dead in a similar way to those found dead previously. Good luck!
25. Adam felt his phone vibrating in his pocket and he knew that it was Jake and Acacia calling to tell them that the same thing had happened to their man, but he answered it anyway. "Adam," came Jake's voice, "You're never gonna believe what's happened here, but..." "He's dead, and his eyes have been cut out," murmured Adam softly, closing his eyes and rubbing the bridge of his nose with his free hand. "Jesus, Adam, you're gonna have to tell me how you do that sometime," came Jake's a surprised voice a few seconds later. "They're all gone. Me and Gabriel found our guy dead, eyes cut out. Vincent and Adrian's...same thing. Catherine and Jules...the same. Hiroshi and Brannigan...dead. And now you. They've been killed, systematically, and in the same, ritualistic way." "So...what are we gonna do?" asked Jake a little nervously. Adam thought hard for a few moments, breathing deeply in and out, and then the idea rushed to him. "We get Felix back at HQ to forward us the details of all known super-humans in the city. We each need to go and find them and bring them in. It's going o be a big job so we're all going to have to split up and bring them in individually. Jake, can you pass this on to Vincent and Adrian? I'll get hold of everyone else." "Sure thing, bossman," replied Jake, and he hung up with a click. Adam got to his feet and yelled to Gabriel what they were doing. Then he hooked a bluetooth headset into his ear and called Felix. "Come on, come on," he mumbled, pacing up and down as the phone rang. After a few rings, he heard a click, and Felix's voice. "Hello?" "Felix! It's Adam. I need you to stop whatever it is you're doing, and get to a computer, right now." "But I'm in the middle of teaching." "I don't care. This is much more important. Get to a computer now!" "Alright, but you're explaining to these people what's going on when you get back here." "Are you at a computer?" "Yeah, but I don't see what..." "Felix! There's no time for this right now. I need to you to find the files of every super-human in New York right now. Then cross-reference the files with the locations of each of the team members, and give everyone the files of whoever they're nearest tonight. Then send the information to everyone's PDAs. Can you do that?" "Almost done, boss!" Felix said chirpily, and as he finished the sentence, Adam heard his PDA ding, and Gabriel's across the room made the same noise. "Thank you Felix. Prepare the base for a large influx of people, right now," said Adam, hanging up before Felix had a chance to protest. "You know what you've got to do?" Adam asked Gabriel, who was checking his PDA. "Absolutely," he replied, leaping down the stairs two at a time with Adam hot on his heels. --- Not long later, Adam turned up at a small florists, where the blinds were drawn, but a slight electric murmur was coming from upstairs. Adam knocked on the glass door of the shop, hoping he was loud enough to get the attention of the owner. "Miss Durant? I need to talk to you urgently!" he called, and a few minutes of banging later, the door was opened by a rather bleary-eyed looking woman, brushing the sleep out of her eyes and running a hand through her tousled hair. "Can...can I help you?" she asked, stifling a yawn. "Miss Durant, this is going to sound crazy, but please hear me out. You're in a lot of danger - I work for a company which specialises in people...like you. Special people. We've been monitoring you for a long time now, and we think you might be in a lot of danger. May I come in?"
