Greydon sat in the transport ship with the rest of the soldiers the New Alliance had put together. His new colleagues were made up of members of the internal security force, the assault teams and the general soldiers of the New Alliance, and they all looked nervous. Greydon had hated watching the Liberator take out so many Versilan ships, especially when he had seen one of them, which had belonged to an Elite Specialist, get blown out of the sky by the flagship's disruptor cannons. But he made sure his face showed no emotion, keeping his real feelings hidden. He shifted the disruptor rifle that he held, and then laid it down on his lap. The signal came through that they were two minutes from landing on the planet, and from there they wouldn't have long to take the research facility by storm. His team would be one of the first to land, so they were in charge of "creating" an entrance to the facility. It didn't seem like long before the back of the transport opened up, and the team spilled out onto the dusty ground below. As soon as Greydon's boot hit the ground, laser bolts began whizzing around him, carving chunks out of the ground, and blowing orange sand up into the troops' faces. Greydon lifted his rifle and took quick aim, blasting away a Versilan who was levelling his own rifle at the team. He grimaced a little as he did - he felt like a traitor to be killing his own people, but it was necessary. Laser bolts and disruptor charges flew around him as he ran to the outside wall of the facility. The rest of the team met him there, and the captain began planting the explosives. "You'd better get back! This is going to be a big explosion!" he shouted, latching the magnetic device onto the wall and arming it. The team ran behind a small cluster of rocks nearby, but as the captain ran to join them, a laser bolt blasted into his back, slamming him to the floor. Greydon rose up above the outcrop and fired two shots at the source of the shot that had killed the captain, and heard a scream. As he provided covering fire, taking out a number of Versilan soldiers, one of the other soldiers with him, a human named Jackson Giraldo, ran out to the captain's body and retrieved the detonator, slamming his thumb down on the button, and blowing a hole in the wall of the facility. Unfortunately, a chunk of the stone that comprised the wall blasted outwards and struck him in the side of the head, knocking him to the ground with a sickening crunch. Greydon was the first through the breach, rolling into the building and taking out another two Versilans as he did. The other members of the team followed him in, and he signalled for them to secure the next floor while Greydon himself made sure the scientists on this floor were safe. They rushed upstairs, leaving Greydon alone. "P...please don't hurt me!" whimpered one of the men, dressed in the familiar white overall of a scientist, cowering in the corner. Greydon whirled around and walked over to the scientist, dragging him to his feet. "I won't hurt you as long as you co-operate. We need the information on both research projects you are working on. If you give us the information then we won't hurt you." "I can't give you that information...it's top secret...only the High Council have access to that information!" Greydon sighed and slammed his fist into the scientist's face, feeling his nose break. The scientist whimpered a little more as he grabbed his nose to try and stop the flow of blood that was already pouring down his face. "You said you wouldn't hurt me!" "I said I wouldn't hurt you if I co-operated. That's the least punishment you're going to get, so I suggest you work with us instead of against us, for now at least." "I...I can't...you have no idea what the High Council would do to me!" "I have every idea what they would do to you. I've seen what they do to traitors like you. In fact, I used to be in charge of those punishments." "Y...you're one of us?!" "That's right. I'm an undercover operative, deeply infiltrated into the New Alliance. If you give me this information, then I can use it much to my advantage. In fact, it could mean the end of the Resistance movement. Do you understand? I need you to do this." "But...you can't prove that you're an operative. You could just be a Resistance member. I can't give you the information...I surrender...you'll have to take me in for questioning." "See, you've just made a very foolish mistake, doctor. Because now you have refused and surrendered, you are going to talk to the Resistance. And as I have told you that I am an operative, I cannot allow that to happen. Do you see your problem?" The scientist nodded. "So I'm afraid you have only one way out," said Greydon, offering the laser pistol in his hand to the scientist, "You will have to do the honourable thing." The scientist took the weapon, and Greydon let go of his lapels. The scientist then looked shakily at the weapon, before aiming it at Greydon and pulling the trigger. The weapon clicked, and Greydon smiled, holding up the power cell. "I might have known you would have no honour," he said, drawing another pistol from the holster at his hip and blasting three laser bolts into the scientist, throwing him against the wall, and letting him slump to the floor. Greydon walked over to the scientist, picking up his empty weapon and slotting the power cell back into it. As he got up and turned around, he saw a young Resistance soldier, trembling and aiming a rifle at him. "I saw you...you said you were an undercover operative!" he stammered, blinking the sweat out of his eyes. "I was bluffing," said Greydon calmly, a smile on his face, "I was trying to convince him that I was an operative so he would hand over the information without us having to resort to violence." "But...you shot him!" "He's just a Versilan scientist. Do you really think that it matters whether he is alive or dead?" "Our orders were to secure every scientist in the base!" "There are 27 others. What does it matter if one of them dies? We have enough to get the information we need - Commander Landers wasn't expecting us to bring them all back with us, anyway." Greydon began to move forward, his hands in the air. "Stay where you are!" "Or you'll shoot me? I doubt that very much. You look young - you've probably never shot anyone in your life. In fact, you don't look too comfortable holding that gun. This isn't what you're meant to do, is it?" Greydon continued to move forward, until his chest was pressing into the end of the gun barrel, "If you're going to shoot me, there's no better time than right now, is there?" The soldier shook his head, and Greydon grabbed his head with both hands, a tight grip which the soldier began to whimper at. He smiled, and looked deep into the soldier's eyes, then twisted his hands round, snapping the young man's neck with a single movement. The body slumped and fell to the ground, the rifle clattering along next to him. "Sorry," said Greydon, "That didn't need to happen." He grabbed the scientist's body and dragged it over next to the soldier's body, laying it just behind. The rest of the team then rushed down the stairs, their boots slapping against the metal of the stairs. "Kreid!" shouted one of them, a large, muscular man named Hirtius, "What the hell happened here?" "The scientist killed the kid while I was trying to download the information. He came at me, too, but I managed to shoot him down. It's a damn shame, that kid was a good soldier." "Well, we got the information!" said Hirtius, holding up a pair of data chips, "Now all we need to do is blow this place to the ground." The next ten minutes or so were spent planting the high explosives that a number of the team were carrying, setting them at the points that were holding the building up. When they were detonated, six explosive charges planted at various points on the bottom floor would rip the building's foundations apart, and the building would collapse. "Let's get the hell out of here!" Hirtius shouted, and the team exited through the hole in the wall, taking as many of the scientists as they could with them (it was about twenty-three in total), half the team rushing them back to the transport ship through the laser fire, the other half splitting off to assist the rest of the teams to take the outpost. The explosives detonated, ripping the foundations away, chunks of stone flying high into the air, and the walls began to collapse, the fire of the explosions heating the metal infrastructure of the building, causing the girders to expand outwards, shattering the walls and windows, and the rubble collapsed to the ground in a huge cloud of settling dust and rubble... Adam could tell that Gabriel was getting nervous around this situation. He was talking a lot more than usual, he was spewing words out much quicker, and his Irish accent was beginning to show through. Adam found it somewhat comforting to have someone else from Europe on the team - for an Englishman, leading a team mostly comprised of Americans was difficult. "Can you get anything from the room ? I know a scene like this leaves empathic traces..." asked Gabriel. "I'm not sure. Whoever did this was good enough to shield his presence from me on our way in - I'm sure he's taken measures to protect his own psychic residue." "But there must be something." "I can try, but I don't know how well it'll work," said Adam, putting his phone back in his pocket. He would call Adrian later - right now his priority was to find the killer. He stood in the centre of the room, closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths, his chest rising and falling as he did so. The slightest of winds began to pick up, a chilling breeze flowing through Adam's hair. He felt his own ability tap into the well of psychic energy that flowed through everything, and his eyes snapped open. He vaguely saw Gabriel take a step back - he didn't want to get in the way of anything here. Adam turned his vision across the room, and briefly caught sight of himself in the mirror - his eyes had clouded over, the irises and pupils turning the same white as the rest of his eyes. He turned his gaze towards the body on the wall, and immediately reeled back from the shock, as though the sight had punched him in the gut. He would have toppled over if Gabriel hadn't caught him. "What is it? What have you seen?" he asked, holding onto Adam's arms and settling him to the floor. "It's...gone..." gasped Adam, "Everything's gone. She's been hollowed out - there's no psychic energy left inside her. It's not just her body that's been killed - her life-force, everything, it's all been drained away." "Slow down, Adam," Gabriel said softly, "Explain to me what's happened." Adam shook his head, his eyes closed, and they reverted to their normal blue. "Everybody, every human at least, has psychic energy stored in their body. It's what helps us breathe, think, helps our hearts to beat and our muscles to work. Even when we die, the energy inside us doesn't dissipate, not for a long time, anyway. It stays there, dormant, just waiting to be tapped into. Most people never tap into it - your average circus psychic can sometimes get a little, people like me can access the entire well of energy. But this girl, I don't know what's happened, but...she's got none left. The energy shouldn't have gone so quickly, so the only explanation is that whoever it was who killed her drained her psychic energy." "And that's not good?" "Definitely not. If someone has the power to drain every last drop of psychic energy out of someone, then they have most probably absorbed it into their own store. If they do this with a lot of people, they could have more psychic energy than anyone else on the planet. They'd be the most powerful person on Earth." "And if they're murdering their way to power..." "Then chances are they're not a good guy." The silence filled the room for a few seconds, then was finally broken by both men, simultaneously, murmuring the word: "Shit."

The Genesis Corporation New York The rain plastered Adam's hair to his forehead, and he blinked a few drops out of his eyes, looking up to the sky. He sighed, and a vast, billowing cloud of vapour poured out of his mouth. He'd been doing this far too much recently. "Any news?" asked Gabriel, stepping up beside Adam, his dark hair smoothed back over his head by the rain. "They're thinking this one has heightened senses," replied the senior Operative, "You know, able to see for miles, sensitive smell, enhanced hearing, you know the drill. Adrian and Vincent have gone to Brooklyn to try and find someone who can manipulate gravity - seems like a more interesting operation to me." "Well, swings and roundabouts, you know," said Gabriel with a smile, "We going in?" "Sure," said Adam, stepping forward to the heavy wooden door, "What's the worst that could happen?" Gabriel pushed the door open, and the two men stepped into the apartment block. The lights in the hall were blown out, and nothing happened as Gabriel attempted to flick the lights on. "Hello?" shouted Adam, listening as his voice echoed around the huge empty building, "Is anyone there?" "I'm guessing not," said Gabriel with a smile as he hopped up the stairs. Adam rolled his eyes and followed, a smile creeping across his face. Gabriel, while quiet a lot of the time, never seemed to fail to make Adam smile. The two men ascended the stairs slowly and quietly, not wanting to disturb anyone else that might be in the building. "This place is way too creepy," said Adam, "I've got a really bad feeling about all this." "You think too much. It's a routine recruitment - nothing bad is going to happen..." Gabriel was cut short by an ear-piercing scream, and the two men ran up the stairs, Gabriel's trench coat flapping out behind him. As they got to the top of the stairs, the door facing them was shut and locked. Adam simply flicked his hand at the door and it shattered off it's hinges, blowing inwards as though it had been smashed down by a fire-axe. Gabriel was first inside, but he was knocked to the floor by something from the shadows. Adam rushed in behind his comrade, but the shadowy human figure who had tackled Gabriel was too quick, leaping out of the window into the night sky. Adam rushed to the window and looked down, but he saw no trace of the man on the sidewalk, and no evidence of how he had escaped. "Shit," said Gabriel, getting to his feet, his voice a little muffled, "That guy was strong. I think he broke my nose." Adam turned to see his friend, whose nose seemed to be crushed against his face. Gabriel closed his eyes, and the nose popped back into position with a series of sickening crunches. "You know, I've seen a lot of powers in my time, Gabriel, but yours is one of the most disgusting." Gabriel smiled and shrugged, before turning and seeing what the shadowy figure had left for the two men. "My God," he whispered, and Adam turned to view the grisly scene. There was a young woman, couldn't have been more than 20, surrounded by biology books and pencils, paper, highlighter markers, the usual things you would expect to find around a student, but she was pinned to the wall, what looked like chair legs driven through her wrists into the hard concrete of the wall. Rivulets of dark blood ran from these wounds down the wall to the floor, pooling on the floorboards. Her hair lung limp over her face, and as Adam went over to lift her head up, he saw the most horrific thing of all. "Her eyes...he took her eyes..." gasped Gabriel, his face now pale, "Why would anyone do that?" "The eyes are the window to the soul..." murmured Adam... --- Grisly goings-on in New York City! Welcome to the Genesis Corporation - hopefully by the time you read this I will have sent your objectives and details of what you are doing to your personal message inboxes. If there are any questions don't hesitate to post them in the Underground, or if they are about your individual objectives, then PM me about them.

Alright, the cast list is now in the first post of this thread. I should have the proper game thread up by the end of the week. In answer to your question, Cyriel, the main bulk of the story will be set in New York City, but there will be little excursions to other locations. This is also not to say that your character has to live in New York City - they can live anywhere in North America. Also, I have a little something extra planned for once the game starts going properly - it's an idea I've tried out in the past and it hasn't really worked, but with a team of dedicated RPers like this, I think I can make it work this time. So keep your eyes peeled for information. Also, anyone who wants to do some graphics or anything for this RP then please do - I'm basically talking banners for the Adventure Square thread and this thread, so please feel free to make some up.

Alright, guys, the cast list has become slightly larger than I originally intended - hopefully this will serve to push the story along a little quicker than otherwise. The cast list is as follows: Genesis Operatives: Blayze - Adam Jacobs (psionic powers) Vicky - Jake Ender (illusions) YawnBoy - Adrian Jean-Louis (super speed) inwardscream - Felix Marsh (sonic manipulation) Gavin - Gabriel Fulbrook (extreme self-regeneration) Anomaly - Acacia Perras (light manipulation) Andrew - Vincent Wynn (increased metabolism/muscle structure etc.) Civilians: Starwind - Michael Houghton (physical manipulation) Frankie - Shaylin Durant/Thorn (plant manipulation) Ozymandius Jones - Washington "Wash" Williams (animal empathy/influence) Omega - Edel Dietrich (ice manipulation) Cyriel - Dana Miyoko Ritter (image manipulation) Anyone who didn't make it in, feel free to PM me if you are unsure why and/or want any feedback to try and do better next time. The rest of you, welcome aboard! I will need to do a little planning, so the main thread should be up by the end of the week - any questions you have feel free to post them in the Underground. Thank you all for signing up.

I'm on that dreaded year right now. The filling in of the UCAS form, the tedious writing of the personal statement, the endless possibilities of universities and courses...it goes on. I'm interested in doing a film studies degree, possibly combined with something else as well. Universities I'm looking at that do good film courses include Bangor (that's in North Wales), Bournemouth and King's College London. I never really considered Oxford or Cambridge, as I know for a fact I'm not intelligent enough (lol at me being dumb), and apparently the atmosphere there is a lot different if you are coming from a public school, which I am. I'm not overly concerned with meeting new people - my brother managed to make a bunch of new friends in his first few days there (apparently he met most of them in queues), so I'm not too worried. I had a talk at my college where the guy told us that the first person you meet will be a total weirdo who has never had a friend in his (or her) life, and you've got yourself an instant stalker. That's the part that worries me. And if you're worried about your dress sense drawing attention to you - there are bound to be dozens of people who will get more attention than you.

"Rubbery friend"? New custom title for someone, methinks. And 2007DigitalBoy? Some of your responses in this thread have gained you my instant respect. On topic, if you want to do it, then do it. There's nothing evil about "taking matters into your own hands" whatsoever. "Choking the chicken" isn't wrong, neither is "adjusting the antenna," "applying the handbrake," "cranking the shank," or any of the other amusing euphemisms I can think of (the weirdest being "dry-humping the ottoman" - all I can say to that one is "WTF?") Good thread.

It was a moment when Tyrell and Greydon were not on duty when he made his move. Night on the ship, indicated only by a dimming of the lights to simulate darkness, and the majority of the crew were resting. But Daniel Landers was still on the bridge with Chris Spencer, and Kreid was one of the few other crew members still awake. He sat in the chair he had slept in every night since his arrival on the ship, but this time his eyes were fully open. He looked at the timer that sat next to his bed, and as it clicked over to a new hour, he felt his floor of the ship rock. Suddenly his comm system chirped into life, with a dozen different channels all screaming at him. He jumped to his feet and answered the comms: "Kreid!" shouted Franklin's voice, "We need you here right now! There's been an attempt on Commander Landers' life!" Greydon smiled to himself, then leapt into action, opening the door and sprinting down the halls of the ship to Commander Landers' quarters. There were teams of men all around, and smoke was billowing out of the open door of the Commander's quarters. Franklin stood by, barking orders into the comms system. "Kreid!" he shouted as he saw Greydon, "Someone planted a high explosive underneath the Commander's bed. It was on a timer, so it's just lucky he was still on the bridge when it happened. We need to find out who did this!" "I think I might know," yelled Greydon over the noise, "Kade Tyrell told me the other day that he'd been smuggling weapons all over the ship. I think he has a supply in his quarters!" "Take a team and go and arrest him, Kreid," replied Franklin, "I'll clean up here." Greydon raced to the security area and signaled all available officers to Tyrell's quarters, where he met them, armed and ready. He swiped his hand over the touch panel, and the door opened, letting the team inside. "Kade Tyrell, I am arresting you for intent to smuggle high-grade weapons, and attempting to assassinate Commander Landers," said Kreid, walking over to where Tyrell was sat, and hauling him up out of the chair. "But...but I..." stammered Tyrell, "I didn't do anything!" "Search his quarters," Kreid shouted to the rest of the team, who began to overturn every piece of furniture in the room. "We know you've got the weapons in here, Tyrell. It's just a matter of finding them," Kreid snarled, his face close to Tyrell's now. "Sir," said one of the security officers, "I think I've found them." The officer pushed over one of Tyrell's cupboards, revealing a large hole in the wall overflowing with crates of the same types of weapons that were found under Daniel Landers' bed. "Take him away," said Greydon, letting the officers drag Tyrell away as he knelt down next to the hole in the wall. He laughed quietly to himself. This plan was simple yet so effective. Tyrell was out of the picture, and Tyrell's arrest would relieve any suspicion about more moles for the time being. The New Alliance would believe they had rooted out the mole, but he was still at large on the ship. This was turning out to be a good day...

Hi again, Tetra of sound. Here on the OB, we try to ensure that the quality of our RPs is of a very high standard. This is why we encourage people to write at least three good, solid paragraphs as the background for their RP, otherwise people are not likely to fully understand the story. For instance, you could give a little more information on what exactly the players in this story will be doing, other than just "Will we survive?" Will you simply be protecting your "realm" from the evil characters, or will you be taking the fight directly to them? Other than that, this RP seems to be solid enough - your spelling and grammar are better than a lot of newer members, and your writing seems to be in a decent style. So just try and put a little more detail into your backstory, and you'll be flying. PM myself or one of the other Arena Moderators if you need to ask any questions, and take a look through the Adventure Square Basics Sticky (click on the bold text for a link) to get to grips with our basic rules. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy your time here at OtakuBoards.

Wow, it feels weird to be moderating my own thread... Tetra of sound, please keep all post in threads on-topic. The creator of the RP (in this case, me) does not need to know that you are not signing up for this RP - the fact that you do not respond to the thread sort of implies that. There is no need to reply to the thread if you are not interested. As for knowing who you're going to fit in with on the 'Boards, the easiest way to find out is to participate in as many threads as possible, and see who you find easiest to make discussion with. If you do these things I'm sure you'll make a number of good friends around the OB. Please PM myself or one of the other Arena Moderators (namely Ozymandius Jones, Sandy, Ezekiel or Jokopoko) if you have any queries regarding anything mentioned in this post.

YawnBoy, the Corporation is non-government funded, meaning, yes, rather like the Company in Heroes it is owned by a group of individuals - more will be revealed about these individuals as the story progresses. Also, no problem - I was inspired by the opening of season two of Heroes as well - and I'm sure you would be up to it after seeing the quality of your sign-up. Just need to have more faith in yourself. Andrew, while the idea of the Spidey-type powers is a reasonable one, I'm just worried that having all of those abilities will be a little much for one character. If you can come up with some kind of power that encompasses all of those which you mentioned then I'd be happy for you to create that character. Just a side note, I will probably be starting this RP within the next couple of days - I will leave sign-ups open for a while during the run of the RP proper, but anyone who signs up after it is started will have to accept their character being introduced at a later point in the story. Name: Adam Jacobs Age: 25 Gender: Male Physical Description: Adam is a tall, well-built young man, with broad shoulders and a broad chest. His stomach muscles are well-developed, as are most of the rest of his muscles. His dirty blonde hair falls over his forehead and just into his eyes, but not to the extent that it impairs his vision. His eyes themselves are crystal blue. He is usually fairly clean-shaven, but every once in a while he lets his facial hair run a little wild. He can usually be seen wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt (often with a band's logo on the front) with a white long-sleeved t-shirt underneath, and a pair of dirty white Converse All-Star trainers on his feet. When in the field, he has a black leather jacket which he throws on over all of this. Personality: Adam has been many things in his life. He was a happy child, but as he grew up and his power began to emerge uncontrollably, he became clinically depressed, and often suicidal. However, since his discovery by the Genesis Corporation, he has been reverting to his happy state, where he is easy-going and approachable. He is also a good-natured joker, who is always up for a laugh. Occupation: Head of Field Ops, Genesis Corporation Operative Power: Adam's power is fully known only to him. He seems to have a lot of psychic potential, able to communicate mentally, and he appears to be able to predict the future. However, he can do other things, too. He has been seen to cast bolts of blue energy from his hands, and move things with his mind. There is a lot more to Adam than anyone truly realises... Alright, gang, keep those sign-ups coming! This should start middle of next week, Wednesday or Thursday probably. As always, any questions, go to the Underground thread.

Mage17, those who work for the Corporation will be simply following orders, but at a certain point in the story an event which I will leave undisclosed for now will put them onto the fact that the Corporation is not all it seems to be. Gavin, how far you can take a power very much depends on the power itself. For example, I don't want characters who are (for example) pyrokinetic and they can make enough fire to destroy a city block, but if you are looking at the healing side of things, then the sky's the limit really. It's totally up to you whether your character can only heal some wounds or they can regrow entire limbs. I trust your judgement, Gavin ;). Thanks for the interest.

Heh, you raise an interesting point here, Vick. The Genesis Corporation is still somewhat of an enigma - it is kind of ambiguous whether it is really "good" or "evil" - it's basically a group of people doing what they feel is necessary for the good of the human race (both super-powered and otherwise). Kind of an "end justifies the means" scenario. They might have the best intentions in the world, but it is rare for them to carry out their agenda in the most moral way possible - they are perfectly willing to sacrifice one for the good of many, for example. I find that the ambiguity could make for an interesting story - if no-one (including me) is totally sure of the Corporation's agenda, then it just adds fun to the story when we find out! This feels like an unbelievably crappy answer - I don't know if I've helped or not, let me know if not and I'll try to explain myself better.

The Genesis Corporation UNDERGROUND Alright, guys, this is where you can post any and all questions relating to the game as it goes on. If you post them here I can guarantee that I will get back to them with an answer in one to two days at the most. The Genesis Corporation Every few hundred thousand years, genetic evolution takes a dramatic leap forward, and the creatures that emerge hold the genetic code to take their species higher up the evolutionary ladder. Many believe that these changes begin as genetic mutations, then gradually emerge as a new species altogether. Some believe it is the work of God, continually striving to keep his creation from withering. Ultimately, evolution is all a matter of survival. - an extract from Dr Annabel Weir's book, "The Evolution of Man" Everybody is aware that the world is changing. Global warming is melting the icecaps away slowly, causing sea levels to rise, and the average temperature of the planet is ever increasing. Governments threaten nuclear war, willing to wipe out entire countries simply to stop them doing it first. Racism is on the increase, people being discriminated against for the colour of their skin more and more frequently. Terror attacks continue to shake the world. But there is a change happening before our very eyes which we pay no attention to. A change in ourselves. Evolution is a lengthy process, taking millennia to happen, but every so often, a huge leap forward is made by the human race. When the Neanderthals were replaced and wiped out by homo sapiens, this was the work of evolution. Now a similar change is occurring. Evolution has begun to take it's course. There are people wandering this planet, right now, who are more than human - they are special, they are different. They are superhuman. The first documented case of this evolutionary process was a man known as "Drazen" - a Russian with the power to generate fire from his own body. Drazen was known by the experts who monitored him as "Patient Zero," until he escaped and destroyed half the government medical facility he was being housed in. Then these bizarre gifts began to spring up everywhere - children with the ability to fly, women who could make things move with their minds, men who could regrow any severed limb, and heal any wound inflicted upon him. Some of these people, however, grew dangerous, their gifts destructive, unstable, and it was up to the few to help these people to save the many. So the Genesis Corporation was created, to track down those who could not yet control their gifts, and help them to reign in their power so they were no longer a danger to society. Funded by a number of anonymous donors, and headed by a man known only as "Mr Matthews," the Genesis Corporation employ those who have managed to gain control over their abilities, and use their unique qualities to further their cause. But there is a storm brewing, and only those with the power and the forethought to do something about it can stop it, for the sake of human and superhuman alike. --- Welcome to the Genesis Corporation. In this RP you will be playing a super-powered human being, either working for the Genesis Corporation, finding and helping others like themselves, or simply trying to live life as a normal person, attempting to come to grips with their own unique ability. There will be an underlying plot, which I will be revealing in the first post, but other than hat characters will be basically free to do as they please (within reason). I won't be setting objectives or telling anyone what to do, just giving them guidance if they want me to. The cast is going to be fairly small, perhaps six or seven dedicated RPers who are willing to take this as far as it can go. So, without further ado, here is the sign-up: Name: a normal name, you can have a codename in the Genesis Corporation if you so wish, but it is not required Age: the Corporation only hires people from the age of 17 upwards - if you are not working for the Corporation then you don't have any limits Gender: simple Physical Description: detailed description or a picture, both will get you extra brownie points Personality: keep this brief but informative, maybe one decent paragraph Occupation: if you work for the Corporation, put "Genesis Operative," if not simply put what you do day-to-day, and this can be anything you like Power: keep this nice and original, please, and nothing too over-the-top. Think of some of the powers from "Heroes," if you have seen it. Also, members of the Corporation are likely to have a much greater degree of control over their abilities than normal people - the Corporation trains them up, so please bear this in mind. As you can see, I haven't added a "Bio" section to the sign-up, my intention being that the background of your characters will be revealed throughout the main story. I will have an Underground thread up shortly, so if you have any questions please direct them there. My character's sign-up will be here shortly also, so keep an eye out. Other than that, I look forward to reading your sign-ups.

Greydon opened his eyes and got to his feet, the room cloaked in shadow. He waved his hand over a light switch, activating the softly glowing lights for the entire room. There was a message waiting on his personal video screen, which he activated. Franklin's face appeared on the screen, and said: "Greydon Kreid, you have been transferred to Commander Landers' personal security detail. This means you will be part of a team of five men, two of whom will be with the Commander at all times, other than when he is in his quarters. Please report to the bridge as soon as possible for your orders." The transmission blinked to an end. This was perfect - a chance to get closer to Landers than he had ever hoped, and this early in the proceedings. This would certainly speed up his plans, but he knew he had to gain the trust of the Commander if he was to carry out his official orders correctly. He ran a hand through his hair and left his quarters, flicking the light off as he went. He followed the blue lines on the ground and the walls to the bridge, and although he knew exactly where it was, he once again made it look as though he was struggling with the direction. Eventually he entered the bridge, to find that he was the third of the five men to arrive, the other two standing a little way behind the Commander. He went over to join them, and a few minutes later the other two members of the team walked in and assumed their positions. Greydon watched as they came in, and, unusually, one of their faces registered with him. He took a closer look, and it suddenly came back to him. The man was a Versilan, and part of the military. A certain Kade Tyrell, he was a member of the Internal Security forces. Greydon wasn't worried about his cover being blown, because Tyrell would never have seen him before, and would never have seen his file, as he didn't have one. But this was a good opportunity - Tyrell was the kind of man who looks out for themselves and no-one else. This meant that it would be easy for Greydon to uncover Tyrell as a mole, even if he wasn't one. Tyrell and the other man, a human, walked through the door onto the bridge, Tyrell displaying the kind of cocky swagger of a man who believes he is better at his job than anybody else. Greydon smiled to himself. "Now that you're all here," said the Commander, turning round in his chair to face them, "I need to give you your orders. Two of you will be staying with me at all times, other than when I have retired to my quarters. This means anywhere on the ship, anytime, I will have two of you by my side. You will work in shifts, and at any time when you are not accompanying me, you will report back to Mr Franklin, whom you have already met, to carry out standard security assignments. Is that clear?" The group of them nodded, "Alright, Kreid, Tyrell, your shift begins now. The rest of you report back to your supervisor. You are dismissed." The three of them saluted and left the bridge, heading back to the security station. Greydon and Tyrell stayed by Landers' side, and he turned to give them their orders...

Hey - just wanted to say that I'm really excited about being a part of this. I missed out last time and it looked like kind of a big deal, so I'm glad to be part of this. I've made a post regarding my status on the crew of the Liberator - I assumed that since Aaryanna_Mom didn't mention the name of the head of security that I could just make one up - which I did. If I've overstepped at all here please let me know and I'll make amends. Again, thanks for the opportunity - I'm looking forward to working a lot closer with all of you - you are all extremely talented writers. EDIT: *slaps self* must stop calling it the Resistance and start calling it the New Alliance...

Greydon stepped through the door onto the Liberator, and was immediately filled with a sense of the familiar. He had been aboard this ship back when it was the Eclipse, just the once, but it had the same feel as the other Versilan flagships - a feeling of immense power rushing through every circuit, every wire and cable on board, and it comforted Greydon. "Name?" asked a particularly abrupt individual the moment Greydon was through the door, holding a personal computer in the crook of his arm, cradling it like a child, with the stylus poised above it. "Uh...Greydon Kreid," he replied, feigning the timidity of a new officer, "I'm not sure what position I'm supposed to be in - I've only just been told that I'm part of the crew really." "Assistant Head of Security," replied the officer, "Follow the yellow lines on the floor and walls to the security area." Then, as abruptly as the "conversation" had started, it was over, and Greydon was left on his own. He began to follow the yellow lines to the security area, making sure it looked as though he wasn't entirely sure of where he was going. He rounded a sharp bend into a large group of consoles and chairs, surrounded on all sides by panes of glass, or something like glass, with a marking on the wall proclaiming this the "Security Area." He knocked on the glass, and the officer inside waved him in. The door hissed open and Greydon stepped inside. "Kreid?" asked the officer, a tall, solidly-built man, his black beard and hair flecked with silver, and Greydon nodded, "I'm Alexander Franklin, Head of Security. Everything you do will go through me first, is that understood?" Greydon nodded, "Good. Now, your main responsibilities will be assisting me in both overseeing existing security and training new recruits for security purposes. Commander Landers assures me you have a fair amount of both hand-to-hand and armed combat, so the training should provide no problems for you. You will be required to go through a fitness test, but from the looks of you you shouldn't have any problems with that. Do you have any questions thus far?" Greydon shook his head, and the afternoon continued, filled with tedious fitness tests and having to pretend he was unaware of how the security monitors worked. It made him sick to his stomach that he was being forced to work under a man who had far inferior expertise to himself, but he made himself grin and bear it, focusing instead on the bigger picture - the fall of the Resistance. He retired to his quarters - a small, cramped affair, though it was better than his accommodation on the space station - and made his daily report back to the Resistance. He would have to start being more careful about this, though - there was a record of his last transmission back on the space station, and the Resistance could start to notice a pattern if he wasn't careful. So he added a few extra layers of encryption to his message and sent it, then sat down at the small desk in his quarters, switched the lights off and sat in the darkness. He never slept in a bed any more, preferring to sleep sitting down, so he was able to respond to any hostile action a lot quicker. He closed his eyes, and eventually drifted off to sleep...

Greydon Kreid was busy shifting a number of supply crates that had been delivered a number of hours ago, but as yet no-one had moved them. They were white crates with large red crosses on the sides, so Greydon assumed that they must have been medical supplies, bandages, anesthetics and antiseptics. He lifted them, and although it was difficult work, he never did this grudgingly, always with a smile on his face. He was halfway through loading up a motorized trolley with crates when the announcement came through. The Resistance had captured the Versilan flagship Eclipse, now renamed Liberator, and a crew was needed. "You should go sign up, Greydon," said Kyson, one of his fellow crew members, "They could use someone with knowledge of Versilan flagships like you." "I don't know, Kyson," replied Greydon, pushing his fringe backwards, running a hand through his now long, untidy hair, "I doubt they'll let me on the crew. A lot of the higher-ups don't like having me around." He scratched the growth of stubble on his beard - he didn't like looking this scruffy, but it was all part of the facade. "Like it or not, you're one of the few Resistance members who's actually been on board a flagship. They'll realise that your knowledge is indispensable. Go sign up, it'll get you out of carrying crates around with the rest of us navvies." "Fine," said Greydon, giving in and piling the last couple of crates onto the motor trolley, "But don't come crying to me if you break your back trying to push this thing alone." "Just go," said Kyson with a smile, waving him on. Greydon gave a tiny wave and began to make his way to the bridge, where Daniel Landers would be. He ducked quickly into a side room, a maintenance room for the various vents and pipes that ran around the station, and pulled the small hand-held computer out of his pocket, flipping it open and pulling the stylus out. He tapped the keypad on the screen, unlocking it and began to write a message. RESISTANCE HAVE CONTROL OF ECLIPSE - NOW NAMED LIBERATOR. SIGNING UP WITH CREW - PRIMARY TARGET WILL BE ABOARD. WILL UPDATE. He sent it through an encrypted channel to his superiors on the High Council, then locked the computer and slipped it back into his pocket. He exited the room and continued on his way to the bridge. "Sir, an encrypted transmission has just been sent out from somewhere on the station," was the first thing Greydon heard as he entered the bridge, "We can't tell where it's headed, but I can make a pretty good guess." "You think we have a mole aboard the station?" asked Landers from his seat in the centre of the bridge. "It is highly likely. The Versilan Military has an extensive network of undercover operatives - it would be stupid to assume that they wouldn't at least try to infiltrate one into the Resistance." "Search the backgrounds of all crew members, and see if anything doesn't check out. Report to me if there is anything out of the ordinary, and I mean anything. Yes?" Daniel Landers said, swiveling in his chair to face Greydon. "Commander Landers, sir," said Kreid, "I am reporting to request to be placed on the crew of the Liberator. I have knowledge of Versilan flagships, and I feel I could be of more use on board the ship than here." "And your name?" "Greydon Kreid, sir." "Kreid...Kreid...ah yes, we were just about to notify you. It's already been suggested that you become part of the crew. So, if I can take this offer as an acceptance of your position, then welcome aboard, Mr Kreid." "Thank you, Commander Landers, sir," Kreid said with a broad smile, "And, if I may, congratulations on your new position as commander of the flagship." "Thank you, Kreid. You will be called to board the ship soon. Dismissed." Greydon turned and walked out of the bridge, his smile hiding a deep sense of disgust. This man, Daniel Landers, had given up such a promising career in the Versilan military, all to join this worthless cause. But he was an opportunity for Greydon - he could use Landers to get to the real head of the Resistance, William. And with his removal, the Resistance would be headless, and the Versilans could destroy them with ease. He felt privileged to be playing such a pivotal role in this operation. He would bring down the Resistance soon enough...

Kyung Project...rings a bell... "I see now," said Kessel with the tiniest of grins, "You're one of these women who can only find pleasure, can only reach the climax of her enjoyment, when her partner is near death. You're a woman who has become a sexual predator because daddy didn't love you." "Save me the Freudian bullshit, Kessel," Melstreth Spyrus whispered, leaning forward, her lips gently brushing against his ear, her heaving bosom now pressed against Kessel's bare chest, "There's no way you can resist me..." Kessel barely heard these words through the blood pounding in his ears. He felt something welling up inside him that he hadn't for so long...desire. He wanted this woman, and he couldn't explain it. His breathing became deeper, heavier, and he looked deep into her ever-changing eyes. The next thing he knew, his lips were pressed against hers, and he felt the soft wetness of her tongue creeping into his own mouth. He knew that this encounter could only end badly, but somehow that thought was pushed to the back of his mind as he grabbed the back of this goddess's head, his fingers entwined in her hair, locking them together in passion. He shifted, and began to kiss his way down her neck, tasting the sweet flesh that his hands had been clamped around only a little while ago. She leaned her head back, and grabbed his, forcing him to continue. He began to use his tongue and his teeth, gently grazing them across the skin of her neck. He opened his mouth again, and clamped his jaw down on her neck, feeling his teeth pierce the soft, supple flesh, and the slightly metallic taste of blood flooded his mouth. Melstreth, no matter how strong she was, could not hold back from this, and she screamed as his grip became firmer, his teeth ripping into the tendons. As his grip became as tight as it could, he released it, allowing Melstreth to fall back on the bed, clutching her neck to try and stop the flow of blood. Kessel knelt over her, the warm crimson fluid dribbling down his chin, and he picked up his shirt from the floor beside the bed. "You are an interesting woman, Miss Spyrus. I don't know how you manage to gain such control over men, but I have long since rejected the need for such physical pleasures. I apologise for the brutality of my counter-attack, but as you can understand, it was the only way I could regain a little...perspective. I'm sure the wound will heal quickly enough, after seeing what happened to the bruises around your neck earlier," he began to button his shirt up, and then leaned down over her, his mouth next to her ear, and whispered, "I'm sure we will meet again, Melstreth Spyrus. After all, I imagine you're the kind of woman who, once she sees something she can't have, will want it even more. Take care." He got to his feet, leaving the sexual predator to heal her own wounds, and walked right out of Melstreth's front door...
