Majestic XII Volume One: District S Chapter One: Scavengers Camden Town, London. 2008. 2300 hours. A young woman's feet slapped on the pavement as she hurtled down the street, fleeing for her life from an unseen pursuer. Her breath came fast and ragged, clouds of steam billowing out of her lungs into the cold night air as she panted to take in enugh oxygen to keep running. The muscles in her legs burned, and urged her to stop, but the fear, causing pheromones to release in her brain, forced her to carry on. She kept flicking her head back to see if her pursuer was still there. Suddenly, a figure slid around the corner and began to run after her, although this one had a strange, lop-sided gait. He limped after her, disturbingly quickly for someone in his condition, and was soon right behind her. With a crouch and a leap, he knocked her to the floor, landing on top of her. She began to scream, but he stabbed something into her arm, rendering her unable to scream, but still able to struggle. She could see now that he wasn't human. The general figure seemed human enough, but his face was of a shape alarmingly similar to that of a dog. Thick strands of drool hung loosely from his lips, and he was snuffling and snorting around the girl's body. His cold yellow eyes seemed to pierce straight through her. He raised a hand, and the three fingers it possessed suddenly grew sharp, elongated claws on the ends. She struggled more as she realised this...thing...was going to rip her apart. Something suddenly whizzed past her and the monster and slammed into the ground, and she realised it was a bullet. The creature stopped its relentless attack and turned its attention to the direction the bullet had come from. Five people were standing in the mouth of the alley, one of them, a tall, thick-set young Hispanic man dressed in blue jeans and a black leather jacket, was holding a smoking handgun. "Step away from the lady," said the man in the centre of the group, a young-looking man with dirty brown hair flopping messily over his forehead, wearing a black suit with white shirt and black tie and a black trenchcoat draped over them, "And put your hands in the air, Scavenger." "I don't think he's going to listen, Adam," said the Hispanic man, "He ain't movin'." "Then I think it's time for me to let you do your job, Ricardo," said Adam, supposedly the leader of this group, as he stepped aside. Ricardo stepped up to the fighting pair, and loaded his handgun with a clip that was glowing a gentle green in the darkness of the night. Taking careful aim, he fired a single shot into the beast's neck, knocking it unconscious almost instantaneously. "Bag and tag, team," said Adam, gesturing for his team to move in. A flurry of movement ensued, with all the rest of the team moving around the creature quickly. "Hi," said one of them, a pretty woman with dark red hair and green eyes, to the injured female on the floor beside the creature, "My name's Jane. I'm going to take care of you. The Scavenger here has a bite laced with a kind of venom. I'm just going to give you the anti-venom." She loaded a syringe with a strange blue serum and injected the whole lot into the young woman's neck. She passed out straight away. "Is she going to be ok?" asked the other woman in the crew, this one with jet-black hair and dark eyes, as she booted up her laptop. "She'll be fine, Suze," replied Jane, "I just loaded her up with enough sedatives to knock out a horse, and I added a little amnesia in there too. She'll wake up at home thinking she's had a hard night drinking, that's all." "Guys, a little quiet here if you don't mind," asked the man holding a large injection gun to the Scavenger's neck, "This is kind of a delicate procedure." He rolled up the sleeves of his suit jacket, undid a third button on his striped shirt and held the injector steady. "Alright, Jake, do what you need to do," said Suzie, lowering her voice. "Everybody ready?" he asked, brushing his free hand through his blonde hair. As the rest of the team nodded, he pulled the trigger of the injector and pumped a microchip right into the Scavenger's neck. The Scavenger suddenly regained consciousness and screamed, and the Hispanic man fired another sedative into its neck, knocking it to the floor. "You have the signal? Or shall I give him another one, like the last three we've done?" asked Jake somewhat sarcastically. Suzie shook her head. "No, we're good this time," she said, brushing off Jake's sarcasm lightly, with a sly smile in his direction, "We have a signal." "Excellent work, guys," said Adam, letting the rest of the group pack their stuff away as he knelt down and tied the shoelace of his bright white Converse All-Stars, a stark contrast to the suit he was wearing. "Adam," said Ricardo, coming over to him, "I don't like where this is going, and I know you don't either. This is the fourth Scavenger we've tagged tonight - that's far more than usual. We're beginning to have Scavengers coming out of our ears." "Don't worry, Ricardo," said Adam, "I have Wynonah on the case, and you know how good she is. She'll find the cause of the problem and you know she will." As if by some weird coincidence, Adam's phone chirped, and he twisted a Bluetooth headset into his ear. "Wynonah," he said, "I hope you have some good news for me!" "Oh, I don't know if you could call it good," the Australian woman said nervously on the other end of the phone, "In fact, I think it could be very very bad..." She looked up from the ground where she was laying on a small overhang of rock. She was in the sewer system underneath London, but the whole network was crawling with Scavengers. Thousands of them. Hundreds of thousands. "I think we could be in trouble..." --- This is the first part of my new original piece of fiction. It is based around an RP that I created that never got off the ground, named Majestic XII, also the name of the covert organisation that it revolves around. The aim of this organisation is to hunt down all forms of alien life on Earth. But all that will be revealed soon enough. Anyway, this story will be written in a Volume system. There are four volumes so far, each containing three chapters. They are each self-contained stories, but they will all come together in the end, and all involve the same characters in various situations. So I hope you enjoyed this, which is really just the intro before the story really gets going. Settle yourselves in for chapter 2!

Here goes: Me at my secondary school prom What's your favourite hobby? My absolute favourite hobby is music. I play alto saxophone, although I have been known to play tenor and baritone as well, and I also play electric bass, which has really become the main instrument I play. I try to play every day, and if I can't then I'm never quite myself. My friends also put together a band with myself playing bass, we have done a fair few gigs together, and have written a lot of our own material. I enjoy listening to music as well as playing it, reading and writing, and I used to be quite a keen artist, but doing an Art GCSE has destroyed my enjoyment of it really. What do you think your best personality trait would be? I'm never quite sure how to answer this question, as there are many elements of my personality which I would like to change. However, one of my favourite personality traits is my sense of humour. I generally manage to find humour in most situations, something which a number of my friends would tell you is not always a positive thing, but it happens to be one of the things that makes me me, and I like it. EDIT - Sorry about the size mix-up - this should have fixed it

Alex was slightly...shocked to say the least when the mournful creature appeared from thin air behind Evan. Blood-red tears ran down its face, and indigo-blue wings sprouted from its temples. Pale hair flowed down its back, and its skin was deep blue. Cygnus, the Swan of Sorrow, commented Auld, I knew him back in the Shinigami realm. Alex waved aside Auld's comment and continued listening to Evan. He began to laugh under his breath. "What's so funny?" asked Alex, slightly confused, but he couldn't help smiling. This man's attitude was infectious. "Ah, nothing... I guess we've bonded now. So tell me, Alex, would you be interested in travelling to New York for New Year's Eve with me?" asked Evan. Alex thought for a moment. Why was this complete stranger asking him to spend New Year's Eve with him, in a different city? "Oh, don't worry, it's nothing weird," said Evan, "There was a notice posted on the internet. The title of it was "Death Note," and it said something about New Year's Eve at a theatre in New York. You never know, it might help. We could meet more people with Death Notes." "Or it could be a total hoax. It could just as easily be a complete waste of time." "Just think about it. Could you make something up called a "Death Note"? And why would anyone post a notice on the internet about it if they just made it up?" said Evan. He has a point, said Auld, You might as well go to this thing. Worst case is, its a waste of time. But if its not then you'll regret not going. "Alright then," Alex sighed, "Here's my phone number." He handed a slip of paper over to Evan with his number written on it, and Evan did the same back to Alex. "I'm thinking I'll see you soon, Alex," said Evan, disappearing into the evening mist that had covered the park, his Shinigami following him. "So what's the deal with his Shinigami? You said you knew him in the Shinigami realm." Nothing special. Run-of-the-mill Shinigami really. Except... "What?" asked Alex, stopping and turning to face Auld, "What is it?" I can't tell you. I swore that I wouldn't. "Fine," said Alex, and he walked off at a much faster pace than before. Alright. Go and sulk...

A few days later, Alex was sitting in a small coffee shop eating breakfast. He brushed the bagel crumbs off himself and opened up a newspaper for any more signs of unusual deaths. Anything that he could find may help in the search for this other Death Note holder. He had been cutting out clippings that had jumped out at him for being rather suspicious, and sticking them to his hotel room walls. There had already been a number of incidents he had found in the paper that he had circled with a black marker pen, thinking they were somewhat unusual. You look terrible. Alex just waved Auld's comment to one side, but the Shinigami spoke the truth. Since Gregson's death, Alex had barely had two hours of sleep. He had been far too busy searching through newspapers, looking at news reports on the television and internet, and browsing through police reports on the internet. It was surprisingly easy to get into the police servers when you knew how. You should really give this up. There are at least a dozen other people who are holding Death Notes. It's going to take you a long time to find out who it is, and by then they'll have killed a lot more people. "I can't just sit by and do nothing when someone is killing innocent people, Auld," whispered Alex irritably, "I have to do everything in my power to stop them, otherwise, who will?" I'm just saying, I've seen people get too wrapped up in their Death Notes before. It gets to you, all the death that they cause. It's best just to use them and not really think about the consequences. "That's ridiculous. I can't go around using the Death Note whenever I feel like it and not care that I've killed people. I'm not a Shinigami." No, you're not. You have a lot to learn before then. "I don't want to be a Shinigami, Auld. I'm happy as a human." "That's a phrase I've heard myself say far too many times," said another voice, a human, from a table near him. "What?" whispered Alex. "I don't want to be a Shinigami either. I'm going to take a wild stab and see what the next two words mean to you: Death Note." "You have one too?" asked Alex. "Hmmm. My Shinigami told me there were others. I never expected there to be another in Washington. I guess its my lucky day." "Who are you?" "It's best we don't talk here. Too many people around. We need to go somewhere more private. Follow me." The shadowy figure got to its feet (Alex couldn't tell at this point if it was male or female), and walked out of the coffee shop. Alex, having already paid, got to his feet and walked out, gathering up the paper and putting it in his inside jacket pocket. --- OOC: Anyone who is in the Washington area can be the person if they so wish

Alex checked back into his hotel amidst chaos. There were mounds of yellow tape stretched across doorways, and dozens of police officers around. "What's going on here?" Alex asked the pretty receptionist, "Why are all the police here?" "They were called in to investigate a suicide that happened a few hours ago," she replied, never looking at Alex, "Some high-flying businessman stepped out of his fourteenth-floor window. He didn't stand a chance." Alex turned to look at the scene of chaos that was occuring behind him. An ambulance had turned up, and the paramedics and the cops were arguing over moving the body. It's a bad idea, said Auld, melting out of the shadows, Don't get involved. Alex shook his head as a sign of him ignoring the Shinigami, and stepped out of the glass double doors into the cold night air. He walked up to the nearest policeman and tapped him on the shoulder. "Step away, son," the policeman said immediately, "This is no place for minors." "I'm nineteen, actually, officer," replied Alex, "And I just want to know what's going on." "Well..." the officer began, but Alex tuned him out to instead listen to what the people crowded around the body were saying. "Twenty-three years old, name Holden Gregson." "Wait a minute, isn't he the CEO of that massive corporation? You know, GR Services?" "You're right. But...he's one of the four richest men in the country. Why would he have any reason to kill himself?" "He definitely killed himself?" "There are no signs of a struggle on his body or in the room. I guess the stress must have gotten to him." Yeah, either that or someone else like me, thought Alex, Auld said there were more people around with Death Notes. I'm betting one of them did this. If they knew that Gregson was staying at this hotel, they could have specified in the Death Note what time and place he should kill himself. But why Gregson? Surely there are much worthier candidates for execution. In case you were wondering, hissed Auld, It wasn't a Shinigami who planned this death. Then that confirms it. Someone with a Death Note killed Gregson. And I need to find out who before they kill any more innocents...

Alex kissed the host of the party on the cheek, and smiled his charming, heart-warming smile. "Thanks, Adriana," he said, "Great party. Well worth the trip." "Wouldn't have been a party without you, Alex," she replied with a slightly seductive smile, "You made it so much fun." "Oh, come on, I wasn't the genius who threw the party in the first place. I'll see you soon," he said as he walked down the drive towards the street. It was a bit of a walk back to his hotel, but he could handle it. His breath billowed out in huge, thick clouds of vapour as it hit the cold night air, and Alex wrapped his jacket a little tighter around himself. He began to walk towards the hotel, and stuck his hands into his pockets. He felt the notebook nestling in his pocket next to his wallet, and couldn't resist taking it out again and looking at it. It was a small, nondescript black notebook, with the words "Death Note," scrawled across the front cover in sharp white lettering. He had found it in his pocket a few weeks ago after a party, and since then his life had been turning out extremely strange. As always, the figure cloaked in darkness melted out of the shadows to stand next to him. Alex smiled, but a shiver ran down his spine. "Did you enjoy the party, Auld?" asked Alex, continuing to walk, and watching with interest as the Shinigami death god seemingly glided along beside him. I've never enjoyed parties, replied the Death God in his normal low hiss, Too many people. "Why does that not surprise me?" Alex asked himself under his breath. Have you decided on your next victim yet? asked Auld, It's been a while since the last one. "You can't rush this kind of thing, Auld," replied Alex, "You've got to think it through thoroughly, explore every possible option before you commit yourself to it." You could never be a Shinigami, hissed Auld, You think too much about your victims. "I'm just being sensible, Auld. And I don't have any wish to be a Shinigami. It seems a hollow, unfulfilling life." So does going to parties every night of the week. "Alright, Auld, if it will stop you going on at me, I'll do it as soon as I get back to my hotel room, ok?" Alex said, rather irritably, and frightening a woman walking on the other side of the street. Don't force yourself. "Alright, I preferred you when you barely spoke to me, Auld. Just stay quiet until I get back." Fine. The strange pair continued walking back to Alex's hotel, unaware of what they would discover when they did...

Name: Frederick Alexander Aaronson (although he hates his first name - he much prefers to be called "Alex") Age: 19 Gender: Male Origin: London, England Appearance: Alex stands at around 6'2", fairly tall for his age, with an average build, although he has been working out recently to try and improve his muscle structure. His hair is naturally jet black and stands up straight on his head, with a number of streaks of bright crimson running through it. A small silver ring pierces the top of his left ear. As for clothes, he tends to wear a pair of jeans and a button shirt, usually plain black or with a slight stripe to it. Either baseball shoes or trainers cover his feet. He also wears a band of black leather around his right wrist, and has a plain chrome ring on the index finger of his left hand. A neck-chain made of similar plain chrome hangs around his neck. Personality: Alex has always been known as the life and soul of any party. He is funny, witty and charming, and knows how to make friends that can last a lifetime. He has a wickedly sharp sense of humour, which stems from his dry British wit and sarcasm, although he doesn't use it to an extent that it distances him from people. He is also incredibly clever, but his intelligence brings about a certain concern about the state of the world. How He Acquired The Death Note: Alex found his own Death Note tucked into the pocket of his jacket after a party one evening. Other Information: Not many people know about this, but Alex is in fact adopted. He was on a holiday to America with his parents when they were killed in a hit-and-run accident. He was fostered by another English couple living in New York City, but they revealed this fact to him as soon as they thought he was old enough. He has since been searching for any records of his late birth parents. However, he has a healthy relationship with his foster parents, and treats them as his real parents. After all, they are the ones who raised him. While he appears to get along fine with Auld, Alex is, in fact, a little freaked out by him. The way Auld always follows him, how he appears seemingly out of nowhere, how you can never quite tell what he is thinking, all these things and more creep Alex out slightly. Name and Title of Shinigami: Auld, The Creeping Shadow Appearance of the Shinigami: Auld is, as his title suggests, a shadowy figure. While humanoid in figure, his form is constantly cloaked in shadow, with just a pair of crimson eyes piercing out from the darkness. It seems as though he is constantly wearing a long, hooded black cloak, but this could in fact be his natural form. He follows Alex around constantly, melting out from the shadows to join him, but he rearely speaks. He simply...watches Alex...

2008. BANG A gunshot rang out, and the thing turned, to see six people standing at the mouth of the alleyway the two runners had just emerged from. The man standing in front had brown hair, and was wearing what looked like a black suit underneath a long black trenchcoat, but with a pair of stark white trainers on his feet. His hands were in his pockets as he began to walk towards the creature, who didn't move, apparently transfixed by this strange figure, who reached the place where the two runners lay, and crouched down so he was on a level with the creature. "You're a lonely-looking guy, now, aren't you?" he said, looking the creature in the eyes, "I'm not surprised, to be honest. You're a long way from home, and I don't think there's many more of you around for quite some distance. But this girl is an innocent, and here on planet Earth we don't take kindly to people killing other people. Even if one of them isn't technically a person." The creature snarled. "Ooh dear," said the man, somewhat sarcastically, "You've got a bit of a temper on you. I suppose we'll have to use this." He drew a small green sphere from his pocket, and rolled it around in his fingers, "Do you know what this is? It's a pair of handcuffs." He flicked the sphere at the creature's face, and it expanded in mid-air, becoming a tight, jelly-like layer which engulfed the creature. It could definitely breathe, the material was extremely porous, but he couldn't really do anything else besides. "Alright, team," said the man, standing up and hooking a Bluetooth headset into his ear, "Take him away." --- We are witness to a change in the way the universe works. In the early 21st Century, a dimensional rift opened up in the centre of London, allowing objects and beings to transfer, totally unwillingly, from one dimension to the other. Thus, a number of important landmarks disappeared from London, and extra-terrestrials began to wash up in the capital. Luckily, since the year 1874, a secret organisation has been operating, outside the government, beyond the jurisdiction even of the UN, with the sole aim of protecting Britain from extra-terrestrial threats. This is Majestic XII, the "Men In Black" of many a conspiracy theory. Dedicated to protecting Britain, and armed with the most high-tech equipment known to man, much of it scavenged from extra-terrestrial debris, we are a force to be reckoned with by any of our many "visitors." --- Background Information Majestic was formed in 1874 by Queen Victoria, who reportedly had a number of run-ins with extra-terrestrial life during her reign. It has been running since then, with the single goal of protecting Britain from any outside forces that may threaten it. Since then, however, things have progressed a little. Majestic now has branches stretching across the globe, in Paris, Berlin, Nevada, Tokyo and many other locations besides. The organisation operates beyond the jurisdiction of the UN or any government of any country in the world, and they have the most advanced weaponry and equipment in the world. There are a number of rules which members of Majestic must abide by. 1. All extra-terrestrial technology must stay ONLY within the possession of a Majestic member. If it transferred to anyone else who is not a part of MJ, then both that person and the member who handed it over will be tracked down and incapacitated. 2. ALL extra-terrestrial technology must be kept on Majestic property, unless being taken on a field mission. Under NO circumstances must anyone take any technology off the premises. 3. Within any MJ branch, there must be no more than 6 members of staff at any one time. Any more than this can compromise security. 4. The MJ commander has total authority. Under no circumstances should any member of staff disobey their commander. --- Majestic One (MJ I), the main base of operations, is located in the Nevada Desert, America, and is also known as Area 51. The mirror exploded outwards, shining, reflective shards of metal flying across the room, embedding themselves in everything they could reach. The floor, the ceiling and the walls were now sprinkled liberally with shards of the broken mirror. Garrek breathed deeply, his shoulders heaving, and then walked over to the wall and picked the book that he had hurled at the mirror up from the floor. He sighed, and moved back towards his bed, a small affair that was literally covered in sheets of paper, books and notes written on tiny scraps of anything he could lay his hands on. His exams were coming up soon, and he was nowhere near ready. Instructor Harle and Instructor Locke were on his case already, urging him to focus more on the academic side of his studies and less on the practical. Recently, he had managed fine in his practical, managing to pass most of the class practical tests with decent grades. He had managed to calm down a little, and focus more on what he was supposed to be doing. His instructors had mentioned how far he had come along in his practical work, and that gave him a tiny warm glow that he had never felt before. He needed to see Instructor Shavers later as well, to try and book a session of sparring for his Combat class. He had so much to do and so little time to do it in. He knew he wasn't going to be able to enjoy his birthday, as it fell right before the examination period, when everybody was going to be hard at work. He grabbed the sides of his head, feeling a cluster headache coming on, and decided to get out of his dorm for a while, and go for an evening walk around the campus. As soon as he left the small cramped accomodation, he felt better instantly. His headache cleared, and the fresh, cool air soothed his body and his mind. He closed his eyes and took in a few deep breaths, until suddenly they were knocked out of him as a small figure ran straight into him, knocking him to the floor. He looked up, rage building, and saw that it was a youngish girl, maybe his age or slightly younger, who had barreled into him and dropped all her books. A few tears were running down her face as she feverishly picked up her books. "I'm so sorry," she whimpered, "It's been a really tough day." He took a deep breath, knowing that to get angry at this girl would be wrong, and he stood up, grabbing a few of her books from the floor and helping her to her feet. "It's no problem," he said, "I'm Garrek, by the way..." --- God, you leave it for a day and suddenly there's two pages worth of posts. For the most part, he seems cold and distant, but friendly enough, but when angered, he switches into a furious rage, and his aggression in attacking is not easily matched. Four or five different bolts hit the target, and the wicker went up rapidly in flames. "There goes another one," sighed the tutor, as Garrek slumped to the floor, all his energy drained.

Section XIII: The Oncoming Storm Of Vampires A war is plaguing the Christian world. It is a war that has been raging for almost a millennia, a war fought in the shadows, but a war none the less... For as long as mankind has existed, so have they. The demons that stalk the darkness, those beasts that come out only when the sun has set and the moon has risen, those creatures which feast themselves on human blood. Vampires. They can only be stopped by a wooden stake through the heart, silver bullets and total dismemberment through means of a sword or other melee weapon. They hunt down humans and drink their blood to sustain themselves, taking many human lives along the way, or sometimes, even worse, injecting their own virus, spreading it to others who then become undead creatures of the night themselves. The Forming of Section XIII That was, until the year 313 AD, in which the great and powerful Emperor Constantine I proclaimed Rome as a Christian nation, and the spread of vampires was quelled rapidly. It seemed that in religion, the human race had discovered the weakness of the vampires, and introducing God to these Hellish creatures seemed to destroy them from the inside out. But the vampire legions continued to grow in number after Constantine's death in 337 AD, albeit in secret. They came out only at night, and never betrayed their locations, taking homeless men and women, muggers, rapists and prostitutes from the street, the dregs of humanity that no-one would ever notice were missing, and turned them into vampires. Their numbers grew for centuries, until a mass vampiric uprising in Rome at the beginning of the 12th Century. They spread through the streets, killing hundreds and turning hundreds more. The Italian Army managed only just to stamp out this uprising, but instead of destroying the vampires, they merely forced them back into hiding. So, nine centuries ago, in 1105, a top secret, covert wing of the Vatican church was formed, named after the disgraced, treacherous apostle Judas Iscariot. They were charged, by Pope Paschall II himself, with the pursuit and total extermination of all creatures of the night: demons, vampires and even their heretical human followers ("familiars"). The paladins of Iscariot, more commonly known as simply "Section XIII," were warrior priests equipped with the most high-tech weapons available, and trained to use them to incredible effect. The organization also commands other military forces, such as the Knights of the Sagely Brethren, the Knights of the Order of Calatrava La Nueva, the Knights of the Military Order of St Stefano di Toscana, and the Knights of the Order of Malta. However, Iscariot's very own paladins make up the elite troops of the organization, and most situations are left in their hands. Currently, they are lead by Father Rico Jaxxon, a hugely zealous religious man, who will stop at nothing until their goal of total annihilation of all vampires and familiars is completed. He is a powerful leader, though, and it is commonly believed that Rico is in fact a direct descendant of the Emperor Constantine, and as such his belief in the Christian faith is staunch and almost fanatical. The Second Order In the year 1598, an Iscariot paladin named Brother Gregory Anderson took the belief that the total destruction of all vampires along with all those allied to vampires was wrong. He believed that the humans who followed vampires were misguided, and needed to be converted rather than eliminated. He took this issue up with Father Matthew Pius, the leader of Iscariot at the time, who banished Anderson from the ranks of Iscariot in a rage. He was stripped of his rank and all powers granted to him by Section XIII, and was forced to live a civilian life in Britain, the country he was exiled to. But Anderson was as devoted to the cause as any other paladin, and he began his own order, known as The Second Order, whose duty it was to eliminate vampires who endangered the British Empire, but to convert rather than kill the familiars who sided with the vampires. This ideal was popular with many other Iscariot paladins, who defected to The Second Order. This enraged the leaders of Iscariot, and formed a life-long rivalry between the two Orders, sometimes even to the extent that each would actively try and wipe the other out. Eventually, the decision was made that the war should be against vampires, not against each other, and the two formed an uneasy alliance, but one that could be broken any day. The Vampiric Alliance Vampires from across the world had been sent running by Iscariot, their strength weakened. Finally, in the late 20th Century, a powerful vampiress from Russia, by the name of Yelena Rasputin, aka The Black Widow, brought vampires from across Europe and America together to form The Vampiric Alliance. This soon became the largest gathering of vampires the world had seen since the Roman Uprising, and was commonly seen as an Army of Vampires, ready to take the world by force. Currently, however, their numbers, whereabouts and future plans are unknown. All that is known is that their power is growing, and something huge is coming... --- A war is coming... Whose side will you take? --- The year is 2008, and a full-scale war is approaching, with the sides clearly set out. On the side of the humans are Iscariot Section XIII, the devoutly Catholic legion of vampire hunters, and The Second Order, their Protestant counterparts, who wish to slay vampires but spare the humans that side with them. On the side of the darkness, however, is an incredibly powerful and dangerous army, The Vampiric Alliance, devoted to haemophagy, the devouring of human blood to survive. They have been gathering for almost a decade, and have proven themselves on a number of occasions to be formidable adversaries to the human cause. It is up to you to decide who will win this war... --- Welcome to Section XIII. I will say right now that this RP is going to be fairly epic. This is only the first part of the whole story, and there will, most likely, be two more parts before this story is over. So, basically, don't get involved if you don't think you can go the distance. I want people to be committed to this one. First off, think of this as being set on a parallel Earth. It is the same as ours up to a point. Vampires and other, even more vicious creatures of the night, exist in this world, and they are rising up, increasing in power, getting set to wipe out the human race. The majority of this story is going to take place in London, as this is where the main headquarters of The Second Wave is located, as well as the main "Hive" of The Vampiric Alliance, and a secondary base of Iscariot Section XIII. However, this RP is not just going to be about the various sides killing each other. It is an exploration of the emotions and lives of each and every character. I want every character to be involved at a personal level. I want relationships, problems at home, because we all know that fighting evil is not everything to everyone. It is also going to be a story of shadowy deals and betrayal. I want this to be a much deeper RP than a lot of people are used to, I want twists and turns on every level. And without further ado, here is what I will need from you in terms of a sign-up: Name: paladins of Iscariot will have either "Brother" or "Sister" in front of their name, depending on whether they are male or female - Second Order members can also have this if they choose Age: the bottom limit is 18 years old, the top limit for humans is 80, and the top limit for vampires is 900 Gender: pretty simple really Race: human or vampire - no half-breeds at this stage Alliance: Section XIII and Second Order members are all human, Vampiric Alliance members are all vampire, no mixing around Description: a detailed physical description, either written or in image form (both will get you extra brownie points) Weapons: originality is a must here - use your imaginations (nothing too extreme) Specialist Skills: anything goes here - from lock-picking to hand-to-hand combat Personality: keep them varied from each other's Short Bio: I don't need to know absolutely everything about your character, but give me enough information to go on - leave some things, little twists and turns, to be revealed during the RP - this should be about three decent paragraphs long Notes: anything else you might like to add about your character --- Other than that, I don't think there is anything else I would like to add. If you have any questions, please PM them to me, as I will only be setting up an Underground thread once the RP proper has started. Happy creating!

XYZ, I know you have been on the Boards long enough to know that every RP posted in the Adventure Inn needs a thread rating. I'm going to close this thread now, but please feel free to repost it with an appropriate thread rating. Thanks. Thread Locked

Apologies to all those who were interested in this. Starting at college as well as a number of other things has meant that I can't really start this RP anymore. I may end up remaking it once my workload has eased off a little, but it could be some time. Sorry to all those who signed up.

Split Keyblader, you absolutely cannot talk to other members the way you have spoken to DarkAngelX. Admittedly, DarkAngelX's sign-up was not totally up to scratch, but you have given them no advice on what to do with their sign-up to improve it. Saying "Your character stinks," is not constructive criticism. Also, telling them to "make a longer profile," does not help them to improve the quality of their sign-up. You need to give constructive criticism. The OB stands for respect to all members, no matter whether they are a new member or an oldie. In future, please respect other members or your time on the Boards will be extremely short-term. If you have any questions about why I had to leave you this message, then please PM me and I will explain.

Knuckles' Girl, I believe you have been spoken to by Sandy about this recently, but it cannot hurt to emphasis the point. You seem to have a habit of posting RP after RP in the Inn, all of which are not terribly brilliant quality in terms of writing, and then starting a new one when you don't get any posts for a few days. Try putting a little bit of time and effort into your RPs, and then maybe someone will sign up. Churning out RP after RP is not the best way to get sign-ups. And, as Sandy said last time, I simply cannot allow this to stay open and be able to sleep at night. The spelling and grammar is very much sub-par, and so I am afraid I will have to say... Thread Locked (PS: Please PM me if you have any queries about this)

Well, this RP is set in around the early ninties, so technology would be far more primitive than we are perhaps used to. But this also means that security, in terms of the police, would be much less extreme, making it easier for criminals like us to get around easier. So, mobile phones would be around, but they would be large, clunky things, and computers would be much slower and less sophisticated than they are today. Hope that answers your question, and I'm glad that you like the idea of the quotes section.

Chapter 6: Laying Low The door creaked open, allowing the tiniest sliver of light to enter the house. Revelation slipped her gun through the crack in the door, following it with the rest of her body. As soon as she saw that the hallway was clear, she beckoned Sandy in to follow. Revelation quickly checked all the rooms, upstairs and down, and ensuring that there was no-one already inside. "Sandy, lock the door," she said, "Once you do that, no-one can get in." Sandy nodded and clicked the door shut. At once, a huge mechanical bolt slid across the door, locking it tightly. "We should be safe here for the moment. All we can do is sit back and wait for all this to blow over," said Revelation, "You can use your computer to try and pull up security feeds from that warehouse. If we can send the agency a video of what really happened in there, we should get off pretty lightly." She bent over to check the low kitchen cupboards, trying to find food that had been left here. They were in luck. The cupboards were fully stocked with food, drink, anything they could want. "We've got plenty of food, so we won't starve to death," said Revelation, standing up and turning around, "We can...Sandy?" Sandy stood facing her, his gun drawn. He was shaking all over, and sweat was beading just under his hairline. He blinked a few droplets from his eyes, and aimed the gun at Revelation. "I don't know what's going on here, but I do know that you killed one of our agents, and shot another in the back," said Sandy, "I want to know what's going on, Revelation. Tell me what happened." "I was in the car, trying to get back to the Anthology from that mission in the Underground, you remember? I had the virus in my possession, and the driver started taking all these wrong turnings. He pulled into an alley and threatened to kill me if I didn't hand over the virus. I did what I had to do, I shot him, and I burnt the car out. I was trying to get rid of the evidence. Whoever that man, and Agent Jones, were working for, they're going to be coming after me," said Revelation, her hands in the air. "And now you've dragged me into it as well," said Sandy, his finger trembling on the trigger. "I know I did, Sandy, and I'm sorry, but you just need to trust me. You've known me for a while, haven't you? And do you trust me?" "I...I did trust you...I'm not sure who to trust any more." "Well, you just have to trust me for a few more hours. If you pull up that security feed on your computer, then we'll be in the clear. I just need to explain to the agency what's going on, tell them Ozy is a traitor. It'll all be over in a little while, Sandy. Can you trust me for a few more hours?" she asked. "Ok," said Sandy with a nod, replacing the gun in his holster, "I can find the warehouse's security feed by hacking into the agency's mainframe. It might take a while, but it should do the trick.""Take all the time you need, Sandy," said Revelation, pouring herself a glass of water, "We have all the time in the world." --- Tehran International Airport Phil, Jamie and Gavin arrived on the runway, and stepped out of their new truck, laughing over the details of the mission. The Ambassador was there to send them on their way. "Good job, agents," said the Ambassador, "You finished the job off well.""Thank you, Ambassador," said Phil, "If you would just step into the hangar for a moment, I need to discuss a few legal issues with you." He lead the Ambassador into the hangar, and Jamie and Gavin merely smiled at each other and boarded the private plane. The door creaked as it opened, shedding a small sliver of light on the dark interior of the hangar. Phil shoved the Ambassador inside roughly, almost causing the old man to stumble and fall to the ground. "What's the big idea?" shouted the Ambassador, "I'm a Diplomat, you have no right to push me around like this." "You set us up," said Phil, grabbing the Ambassador by the scruff of his neck, "You told us there were terrorists inside when you knew there weren't. You were the one who ordered the hit on us on the way to the hotel. Who are you working for?""I don't know what you're talking about!" cried the small man, "I'm not working for anybody!" "Don't lie to me," spat Phil, throwing the Ambassador to the floor, "You're working for someone who wants us dead, and you're going to tell me who it is right now!" "I won't!" shouted the Ambassador, "I'll never tell you. You'll be dead before you can get to me, anyway!" Phil stood up, laughing, and began to walk away. "What are you laughing at? They're sending the one man you never managed to put away to get you. You'll be dead before the day is out!" the Ambassador yelled after him. "That may be so, Ambassador, but you just admitted on tape that you're working against the US Government," replied Phil, picking a small digital recorder from his pocket, "I'll see you in court." The agent left the building, and the Ambassador fell to his knees. How could he have been so stupid? "They're going to get you, Agent Blayze!" shouted the Ambassador, "They get everyone eventually!" "You don't know how true that is," said a voice from behind him. The Ambassador felt the cold steel of a knife blade against the soft flesh of his neck and he closed his eyes. He knew what was coming... --- The Anthology "We've received a transmission from Phil and his team. They have successfully completed the mission and they're on their way home," Will said to the Director. She took a huge sigh of relief, and sat back in her chair, running her hands through her hair. "Thank you, Will," she said with a smile, "That was exactly what I needed to hear. Any news of Revelation?""None whatsoever," replied the techie, "She's completely slipped under our radar. She's a very good agent, you did well with her.""I did a little too well," said the Director, "Have we heard from Ozy?""No, that's the funniest thing. The clean-up crew went to the warehouse, but there was no-one there. She must have been trying to follow Revelation. That would be one hell of a fight, if those two got together," said Will, staring into space with a smile. "It may be a hell of a fight, Will, but I intend to question Revelation to the fullest once she is brought back in here. Ozy will know not to kill her, she's a highly-trained agent. She knows we need information from her." Will shrugged and left the office, heading back to his workstation. "I hope she knows," whispered the Director. --- The Safehouse Sandy had been typing furiously for the past twenty minutes, and he was beginning to scare Revelation. He hadn't taken his eyes off the screen once, and she was pretty sure he hadn't blinked in a long time either. "I've almost got it," he said, breaking the silence, "I'll have it...there. Got it." Revelation moved over to sit next to Sandy, looking at the computer screen. The video footage of the confrontation between Revelation, Sandy and Ozy in the warehouse was running, with full sound and colour. This was exactly what they needed. Now Revelation could use it to prove her innocence to the agency, and she could get her name cleared. "This is fantastic, Sandy!" she yelled, and grabbed him into a hug, "You've just cleared my name! Can you get footage from outside the warehouse as well, about thirty minutes earlier?""I can try," said Sandy, stabbing at a few keys, changing camera and then rewinding for half an hour. He played the footage, and saw the argument between Revelation and her driver, and how Revelation shot the man in self-defence. "You were telling the truth!" shouted Sandy, hugging Revelation back, "I'm sorry I didn't trust you." "That's ok," said Revelation, "I can see where you were coming from at the time. You were under a lot of stress, and I'm sorry for..." SMASH The window exploded inwards, shattering into thousands of tiny fragments. Revelation grabbed Sandy and leapt behind the sofa, making sure that neither of them got struck by shards of broken glass. "Well, if it isn't my two favourite runaways," said Ozy, stepping through the broken window, "I'm impressed you managed to find the safehouse with armoured glass windows, but anti-tank rounds usually sort that kind of thing out.""You can gloat all you want, Ozy," said Revelation, getting to her feet, and holding Sandy down behind the sofa, "But I have evidence of you betraying the agency. I have it all on film, and you can't do anything about it.""I can kill you," she replied, raising her shotgun into the ready position. Revelation leapt at Ozy, grabbing her and slamming her to the floor. Ozy dropped her gun, and it skittered away across the floor. Revelation slammed the flat of her palm into Ozy's nose, snapping her head back. Ozy fell off Revelation, grabbing her nose as blood gushed out of it. She planted a heavy boot in Revelation's stomach, knocking the wind out of her, and slamming her to the floor. Ozy shook the blood off her hands, and walked over to Revelation, who was gasping for air on the floor, and placed both hands around her throat. She pressed down hard on the windpipe, and Revelation choked tiny amounts of air into her lungs. She fumbled around the floor beside her, and her fingers closed around a large piece of glass. Gripping it tightly, she swung it up, and rammed it into the soft muscle of Ozy's neck. The older agent released her grip and fell backwards off Revelation, gasping, breathing in ragged gulps of air. Blood fountained from her neck as she clamped a hand on it to stem the flow. "Now that I've got you exactly where I want you," whispered Revelation, her voice hoarse from the abuse of her windpipe a few moments ago, "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you do say can and will be used against you in a court of law..." The reading of Ozy's rights was stopped by a bullet slamming into Revelation's torso, knocking her backwards, blood spurting out of the wound. Ozy turned around to see a man, dressed in a black suit and holding a glittering silver pistol step through the decimated window. "I'm sorry, but we can't have little Miss Jones here spouting all our secrets in a court of law," said the man, his voice deep and throaty, "She's becoming a minor inconvenience, one that must be dealt with swiftly and decisively." He aimed his pistol at Ozy and fired three bullets into her skull. Blood hit the wall behind her, and her body slumped down onto the ground. "I'm sorry about the bullet wound, Agent Revelation, but it had to be done. You know how messy things get when they're left in other people's hands. If you want something done right, you've just got to do it yourself, I'm sure you understand. Goodbye, Agent Revelation," the man said, stepping out into the front garden. As he left the building, he took a plain silver Zippo lighter from his top jacket pocket, and sparked it into ignition. "Can't be taking any chances now," he said to himself, and dropped the lighter into the house's gas tank, walking away calmly as the flame hit the extremely flammable gas. The gas expanded as it ignited, sending flames barreling through every heating pipe in the house. The man turned out of the garden and into the road as the house behind him exploded in a ball of orange flame. He stuck his hands in his pockets, and walked down the street, whistling a tune to himself. --- Ooh, the tension mounts... Sorry about the long wait on this one, I hope you didn't think I'd gone and let this die, now. More to come soon.

Alex, Kazuki, Lucemon and KoKabuterimon had long since accepted that they weren't getting all this stuff back to the others without some kind of assistance. They were now sitting with their backs against a sturdy steel girder that was holding part of the roof up, wishing that they had been sent to find food. "I'm so thirsty," said Kazuki, "I haven't had a drink since...since I don't know when..." "If we can get this stuff back to the others, I'm sure one of them will have found something to drink by now," replied Alex, "And KoKabuterimon and Lucemon seem hungry. Maybe they'll have found some food as well." "But how can we get all this stuff back to the others? Lucemon and I can barely move carrying it all," complained KoKabuterimon. "It's alright, little fella," said Alex, smiling and giving KoKabuterimon an affectionate pat on the head, "Why don't I try carrying it?" "No, Alex, it's too heavy," said Kazuki, "You'll hurt yourself." "I'm pretty strong, in case you hadn't noticed," he replied with a smile, "And my uncle always told me to use my strength to help my friends. That's what I plan to do." Alex jogged away, leaving Kazuki sitting against the girder. KoKabuterimon started after him, but he turned around and called: "Just stay right there. I'll be back in a minute." As he left Kazuki and the two Digimon with slightly puzzled expressions on their faces, Alex jogged into a camping shop that they had been into before, but this time he grabbed as many rucksacks as he could, and carried them all back to the other three. "This should make carrying things a little easier," he said, bundling everything they had collected into the bags. Eventually, they had about six full bags, which Alex hauled onto his shoulders. The straps wrapped around his broad chest in various directions, and soon he was laden with the bags. There were also a couple of half-full bags, which Kazuki had offered to carry, and KoKabuterimon and Lucemon had arms full of stuff as well. "Come on, guys," he said, "Let's get moving!" The ragtag gang set off back to find the main bulk of the group, laden with pots, pans and other such accessories they had acquired.

Name: Xavier Rushton, aka "Rusty" Gender: Male Age: 16 Appearance: He looks like this, but he wears a slightly tattered black canvas jacket over his t-shirt. His arms are covered in tribal tattoos, which look like this, except they are deep red in colour, and he has this tattoo in crimson on the left side of his face. Personality: If Silas is a father figure to young children, then Rusty would almost definitely be described as a "cool uncle" figure. He is not strict on rules when taking care of kids, and prefers to let them have their own way most of the time. As a result of this, he has become quite popular with some of the younger survivors. But he is equally at home dealing with people his own age. He can be mature and sensible when he needs to be, but he tries to make sure that those times do not come around too often. He is an intelligent, amusing young man, who manages to have fun with people as well as to care for them. Background: Xavier Rushton was born to an average farming family who lived a few miles outside The City. He was brought up to understand the beauty of the countryside, and he worked hard in the farm, trying to get enough money to feed his family. He was unprepared for the Virus when it struck, being only thirteen and a half when it happened, and watched as both his parents and his two older brothers dropped down dead. He was left to care for his younger brother, Alexander, on his own. But he neglected his duties as a carer, stopped working on the farm, and instead, he simply grieved his family for months, often not moving from a single position for days. His younger brother died of malnutrition soon after, and Xavier realised that his constant grieving was not helping anyone. He tried to understand his father's belief that when someone died, they went to a better place, but found no comfort in this. So he promised himself he would never let another loved one die, as long as he was still alive. He joined the Children of Gaia, where there were plenty of parentless children for him to look after. He cared for each and every one of them, and as they grew, he became the happy, healthy teenager he had once been before. He eventually took the nickname "Rusty," as several of the younger children had difficulty pronouncing either his forename or his surname, so he took an abbreviation of his surname as his nickname. During his time in the Children of Gaia, he witnessed with awe the great man known as Sage, although he never drew up the courage to talk to him. However, suddenly Sage had disappeared from the tribe, apparently banished by the Elders. So Rusty left the tribe as well, moving to The City in search of Sage, as well as more children to care for.

Mr Black Codename: Mr Black Appearance: Contrary to his codename, Mr Black is far from black. He has pale white skin, and light brown hair, which is usually left hanging just over his face. His eyes are a sparkling, crystal blue, and give him a relatively innocent appearance, something which is entirely misleading as to his character. His chin is often covered by a slight shading of stubble, and he is rarely seen without a cigarette in his mouth. His shoulders are extremely broad, so much so that he barely needs elbow padding in his suit jacket to bulk him up. His arms and legs are muscular, but not so much that he looks like a bodybuilder. His frame is covered by a black designer suit, complete with white shirt and black tie, and he wears dark glasses over his eyes a lot of the time. Personality: On the surface, Black seems to be the epitome of cool. He rarely speaks five words when three will do, and he never raises his voice past normal speaking tone. He is laid-back, and takes everything in his stride, usually merely passing a sly, sarcastic comment as he goes. But if you scratch the surface, Black is very different. He has deep psychological scars dating back to his childhood, and, as such, is considered to be mentally unstable by police psycholigists. He has a history of unprovoked violence and an apparent love of torture. The majority of the criminal underworld know and fear him as a dangerous psychopath. They warn others to avoid him at all costs. Fortunately, he usually hides these psychological problems under thick layers of a cool, calm demeanour. In One Sentence: The Cool, Calm, Psychopathic Killer
