1. Here is a definition of the term "spam": http://spam.abuse.net/overview/whatisspam.shtml I don't think the message qualify as a spam at all. It i just a term people tend to overuse. However, that is not my question. My question is: when did this board become a Gundam Wing board? Killing a thread before any reply is just like jailing a person before they commit any crime.
2. So, the thread is closed simply because it is a flame bait. That has nothing to do as a "spam". Then, every single discusssion can be labelled as a flame bait in some way. This is just a question concerning this board, so I don't think PM is appropiate here as other may be interested in the situation, too. Well, if you want PM, please close this thread as that means you don't think this can turn into a discussion. I don't think it is "personal" enough for just a private message.
3. In the closed thread about Gundam Wing, you have pointed out that the member should not post his opinion of disliking GW in a GW section. So, when did this forum become the Gundam Wing section? I think this is a forum to discuss anything about Gundam, not just Gundam Wing. Just want you to clarify that and feel free to close this thread as this can be considered as a "spam".

80

0080 is only 6 episodes long. The characters are designed by Haruhiko Mikimoto, the desiger of Macross. It is kind of different from MSG, Zeta, ZZ and CCA which are done by Yoshikazu Yashuiko and Hiroyuki Kitazume.
6. CCA is an excellent movie. It is made in 1988 to end the story between Amuro Ray and Char Azanable. The movie has some of the best looking mechas with a great storyline. I would recommand watching Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta before CCA to fully understand the conflicts and intentions of the two heros, Char and Amuro.

80

0080 War in the pocket is made in 1989 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Gundam. It is the story about a small group of Zeon soldiers who have to destroy the newly built Gundam RX78-4 Alex in a colony inside Side 6. It takes place in the last month of OYW. The story is excellent and characters are convincing. It shows the effect of war towards both soldiers and civilians. It is well worth the 6 episodes. In my opinion, this story defines the meaning of Gundam in the most easy to understand way.
8. Most of the HGUC(High Grade UC) models are great. I have great fun building the Gouf(MSG), Zaku III(ZZ), Bawoo(ZZ) and GP01Fb(0083). However, many of my kits are not domestically available in US. If you are looking for something really difficult, try an older kit such as the Harma Harma from ZZ. You will need to glue and sand but the model is in great detail. I highly recommand the master grade kits. I have MG Zeta, Hyaku Shiki, Super Gundam, Zaku IIF and RGM-79(G). They are well worth every penny. Check out http://www.hlj.com. They are in Japan and they have the latest models.
9. Episode Zero is about the past of the main characters. The one in between the TV series and Endless Waltz is called Battlefield of pacifist.
10. Zeta Gundam is the direct sequel of Mobile Suit Gundam. It is set 7 years after MSG, in UC 0087 where MSG is set in UC 0079. Many of the characters of Zeta are first appeared in MSG. Amuro Ray is in fact the main character of MSG. Char, Bright, Kai, Sayla, Mirai, Frau Bow, Hayato, Ketsu (pretty much everyone on Whitebase) and Meraba Zabi. UC 0079 Mobile Suit Gundam - the story of One Year War, made in 1979 - a 43 eps. series and made into 3 movies (I would suggest watching the series, it gives more detail. However, the movies are great, too.) UC 0087 Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam - 7 years after the event of MSG, shares many characters and events with MSG UC 0088 Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta - story follows the event of Zeta with a new set of characters working for AEUG. Some characters from Zeta appears. UC 0093 Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack - the end of the Amuro-Char saga UC 0123 Mobile Suit Gundam F91 - individual story with no character from previous series UC 0153 Mobile Suit Victory Gundam - individual story no character from previous series One Year War side stories UC 0079 Mobile Suit Gundam 08th MS Team - shares some of the events of MSG UC 0079 Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 War in a pocket - shares some of the events of MSG UC 0083 Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory * Note: alternative series do not use the term "Mobile Suit Gundam" * Note: there are a few unlisted side stories from UC timeline. I am only listing the animated ones. Many Gundam fans, including myself, do not enjoy GW simply because we have seen something much much better. The characters in UC are shown as human, not some super human freaks. They can be killed as easy as the others. Gundams are stories about growing up. They are about people, not someone who can destory as many mechas as they wanted. How many happy ending can we expect from a war drama? UC Gundams bring the reality to the audience. Zeta and 0080 may have the saddest ending of all UC Gundams but the other are as powerful as them. I would suggest you to watch MSG and the 3 side stories of the time. After that, watch Zeta again. It will give you a much better understanding as well as different feeling towards some of the characters. Then, watch as many UC series as you can before going back to GX and Turn A Gundam. You will see than GX is far better than GW after watching some more UC stories.
11. It depends on what you are looking for. GX has a good story and great characters. As a series in alternative universe, GX shares many ideas with UC Gundam. It basically follow the logic of UC. GX is a story about human, not flashy mecha fighting. The MS in GX cannot destory 50 enemies at once like the one in GW. They are more realistic. Understanding Char's speech in Dahka (Zeta Gundam, eps. 37) and the technology of Angle Halo (Victory Gundam) are very helpful along with all the UC Gundams with newtype. GX gives a very good explanation of the concept of newtype. GX is very nicely animated. There are only a little re-use footage, unlike GW where many of the battle scenes are recycled. The characters look more "normal" as there are fewer strange hair styles. Both GW and GX has the same mechas designer (Okawara, the designer of RX-78 and many others). Therefore, some of the mechas look similar. If you look carefully, you will find that the design of GX is quite different from GW. X is more "useable" as it has much more weapons than Wing. As for Double X, it looks more like Nu from CCA, in my opinion. There is no mobile doll in GX. The technology of "Flash system" is quite different from mobile doll. Mobile doll are MSs with pre-program routines. However, Bits of Flash system follow the order of the newtype pilot in the battlefield. A single newtype can control a team of MS at the same time. GX is a human drama, like all other Gundams. It tells stories of human suvival after the destruction of the world where most people have already lost hope. As a longtime UC fan, I think GX is the best AU series along with Turn A Gundam.
12. This is a very nice book with about 100 pages in color (273 pages in total). Many details are given for almost all MS and MA with custom designs. The book includes some game MS and variations of model kit designs up to GX. If you can read Japanese, there are a lot of information about terms and names used in Gundam universes.

Both Psycomm system (including Psycoframe) and Zero system provide an interface between pilots and machines. However, they are actually quite different. When Psycomm picks up the brainwave of the pilot, it simply transfers the information to the machine so the machine can response to it immediately. With the Zero system, the brainwave of the pilot is also pick up. Then, it evalues the information it gets to provide possible outcomes according to the information given. Thus, it is doing the thinking for the pilot. Since it depends on the information from the pilot, if little data are given, less accurate it gets. Then, the possible results are feed back to the pilot and the pilot can take action now. Therefore, the major difference between the two systems is who does the thinking. In Psycomm, the pilot is but not with Zero. The problem with Zero is that it is a battle computer which must be programmed by human. So, it must have a limit somewhere as artifical intelligent is done by providing rules and reasonings which can never compare with human brains. The accuracy depends on the number of rules given by the one who designs the system and the pilot who provides the battle data. As with Psycomm, thinking is done by the newtype pilots. The system only executes what is told. Lets see what happen if we put different pilots with different systems. Case 1: Heero and Zero Heero, an experienced pilot, picks up battle information quickly in great detail. Zero picks up the data from Heero's brainwave and process according to its program. Then, Zero sends all the possible results back to Heero and Heero chooses to execute one of them. Case 2: Heero and Psycomm Heero picks up information about the battle. Psycomm waits for command from Heero. However, as Heero is not a newtype, Psycomm may not be able to pick up anything from him. So, Psycomm doesn't help here. Case 3: Camille and Psycomm Camille, an experieced pilot, picks up information from battle which includes thoughts and emotions of other pilots within certain area (Camille is an "extreme" newtype). Then, he can quickly make judgment for his next move. Psycomm picks up Camille's thoughts and executes what is given. Case 4: Camille and Zero Zero scans for Camille's brainwave. It can possibly pick up information about the battle from Camille. Since Camille is a excellent newtype pilot with a lot of experience, he gets information in great details. Then Zero has to pick up the data and starts processing. While it works, Camille has already came up with the result. There is no need for Zero to give Camille a possibility as Camille has the answer already. Zero is not much help here. In additional, it may actually endanger the system as Camille can pick up much much more information than non-newtype pilots. Zero may not be able to handle all the data.

Psycomm system is the human-machine interface. It detects brainwave from the pilot and translates the information into machine understable format and passes on to the MS. As for newtype pilots, Psycomm could pick up the brainwave more accurately. It simply reduce the reaction time of executing an action from the pilot. In CCA, Psycoframe is used. It is a system to build the MS where psycomm is used throughout the MS as the frame. Now, not only the cockpit control system has Psycomm, it is through out the structure of the MS. Every single piece of Psycomm within the Psycoframe can pick up brainwave from the pilot. There is no rational answer for what happen to Char and Amuro. It is only possible to tell that too much energy is needed to push Axis away. Char and Amuro become part of the energy.
