Mark Simmons is the owner of Gundam Project. I saw him post on Gundam.com a few time. Good luck of finding him.

I live in Canada. It took me a few year to get my collection of fan sub. They are not in best quality and most sub are not in English.

No problem. Just copy and translate those out from the Gundam Character Encyclopeda. Feel free to ask any question. I have seen all except G Gundam and G-Saviour.

Anime GX-9900-DV Gundam X Divider:Satilite Cannon or not?
Emma replied to Zero-Sama's topic in Otaku Central
According to the insert of the model, the 2 bars look like the cannons are actually holding energy for vernier thrusters so it can travel faster and farther. -
Both Victory and Turn A are produced by Tomino, so they are very much different from Gundam Wing. They have totally different style. Victory is first aired in 1993. It is the last series in UC timeline. It is a story about a 13 year old Usso Ebbing, pilot of Victory Gundam and V2. Graphically, it is not as flashy as GW but very graphic sometime. The show is about people's role in war, men, women, children, young and old. I would take sometime to read into it carefully. The story may not be as confuse as GW, but it is excellent. The character developments are even better. They are just so real. There is no "cool"(GW standard) mechas but just very good looking ones. They animation style is simpler than GW but far more appealing. It is something for people who enjoy more than just mecha fight. Plot and characters are just so nice done. However, many people do not like it because there is no suicidal kids running around in invincible mechas. The story is a little bit too real and many of the characters are killed. It is kind of a sad story. Turn A Gundam is made 6 years after Victory. They have similar style but Victory looks older, of course. There are many parallels in the storyline, too. However, Tomino chooses a totally different tone this time. It is much brighter than Victory with a great ending. The only problem with TAG is that the mechas are simply ugly in my opinion. The character designs may look weird but the story is interesting enough to make me forget how strange they look. Moreover, the character developments are so good that the strange looks actually fit them well. Sure, the story can even justify the ugly mechas. If people have only seen GW, 08th MS Team or 0083 Stardust Memory, they may think both Victory and TAG are boring and slow. But with the excellent characters and plots, they are masterpieces from Gundam.

Those are bootlegs and very expensive bootlegs, too.

This is something I wrote about Char Aznable sometime ago on Gundam.com. Don't read if you don't want spoiler of MSG, Zeta and CCA. It is about 1/3 to half of my Char profile. Spoiler . . . . . . . . . . . So, who is Char? Is he just evil? Definitely not. When he tries to drop Axis on Earth in CCA, he wants all the people to leave Earth to let Earth heal; at the same time, let everyone evolve into Newtypes. When looking at Char in MSG, Zeta and CCA, it is not difficult to see that he has never change but he grows up quite a bit. It is still the same person. He would still give up everything for his ultimate goal. Anyone notice that Char is actually a very kind person. He loves children and would like to be an ordinary man one day, having a family of his own. But it is too far a dream for him. As the son of the founder of Zeon, he feels that it is his resposibility to lead people into space; even it is against his own will of being a simple person. Only a few people can truly understand Char, including Lalah, Amuro, Sayla and possibly Camille. Char sees Lalah as a mother, a person who loves him for what he is and who guide him through the time. In MSG, Char was full of rage against the Zabi family for the death of his father. After he met Lalah, Lalah taught him that he can be himself, kind and caring. He truly believe Lalah, a very strong newtype, is the best leader for people. But he has to lose him in such a dramatic way. To Amuro, Char sees him as an enemy and a friend. Amuro has the power to lead people and Char would like to help Amuro to archive the goal, Char's own goal. But Amuro does not want to. He does not feel that he has to save mankind, unlike Char. They are two very much alike persons but they have to end up in different sides. Amuro definitely understand what Char wants but he thinks saving people is too much for him. Sayla is the only family for Char. Char loves her and wants the best for her. He sent her the gold so she can live quitely as serving on a battleship is too dangerous. Sayla would go as far as joining Earth Federation just to look for her brother. After One Year War, Sayla becomes a civilian simply because it is Char's will. All she can do for him is to fulfill his dream of being a simple person. Char is like a big brother/father for Camille. Camille reminds him of his own youth. Like the young Char, Camille was filled with rage against people around him. Char stood up for Camille like the way Lalah did for him. He trained Camille to be a man, to make him learn what is important in life. As Char had lost his own parents at a very young age, he knew it is important to have someone to guide the young ones (so as Quess in CCA). For Camille, Char and Emma Sheen became the perfect parents, something he dreamed about. They care and love him but also discipline. In return, Camille has risk his life for them more than a few time. There are many people interacted with Char in his life. Not everyone can understand that is trying very hard to make the world a better place. It may be too much for him but he would still like to try. It is definitely easier for him to just run away after OYW but he has unfinished business, his father's ideal. He throws away his own will for the majorities. He is a true hero. . . . . . . . . . . Spoiler

Zero system is something like an Expert system using AI. Like "Deep Blue" by IBM which can predict moves in a chess game. The accuracy depends on the amount of rules or reasons given. More reasons are there, the outcome is more accurate. Psycomm stands for Psyco Communication. It is an interface between human and machine. When a pilot has to take an action, the input is usually through hand movement. However, Pyscomm can read the brain wave directly and pass the commands to the machine. No need to pass to the hands and feets. Simply put, the brain gives direct instructions to the MS. Therefore, the reaction time is very short. Since newtypes can concentrate their brain wave easier, it is more likely they can use the full power of a Psycomm system.
-
The 2 systems are quite different. Zero feeds the pilot battle data and prediction. PsyComm enhances newtype power. Zero can be used by anyone in the world but PsyComm has to be used by a newtype. More information to come when I look up the detail of the 2.

What I like about GX is that it has great character development and excellent storyline. Garroad acts exactly like a 15 years old who is afraid of getting kill. He doesn't want to pilot a mobile suit but has to protect Tifa and himself. But he lack of the experience to go into a real fight. Therefore, his only choice is to use the Satellite to wipe the enemies out. Once he is more experienced, he can handle the fight without using Satellite cannon. He grows up so much in the series. That is called good character development for GX. It is so sorry the series is underrated by the major.
-
Leopard and Airmaster are excellent mobile suits. GX may have the most powerful team of Gundams.
-
GX definitely suits my taste much better than GW. It is the most UC looking Alternative Universe series. The main characters' gundams are not indestructable. There are newtypes in the story as well. It is not as success as GW in Japan as they attracted different audience. But for UC fan, GX is definitely the best AU along with Turn A Gundam.

Spoiler . . . . . . . . . The fight between Char and Amuro is not too bloody. It ends when Sayla shows up. But Char still get a scare on his face. Kishiria's death is much much more graphic. It is just stunning. . . . . . . . . With the low rating of MSG, Zeta may not get a TV release. That is very sad....
-
If anyone think Zeta and Victory are bad, they have not seen any Gundam at all. Yes, there are no pretty boys running around in invincible giant robot (those can't be consider as Gundams or any MS at all). There is no solider with 3 ft long hair. The characters are just realistic. The plots are excellent along with great action.
-
G Gundam will be on CN later, probably this year. Zeta, ZZ and Victory are not licensed. Zeta DVDs are released in Japan (region 2). No any information in America yet. Since Mobile Suit Gundam has bad rating, it will be difficult for Zeta as Zeta is the sequel of MSG. Zeta is definitely one of the best Gundam. If Zeta has and Victory ever go on TV, they will have to be edited heavily.

Glad you like Gundam (ok, wing) more than the Mechas. Maybe you should try some other Gundam series, especially UC. They have much more interesting politicians and philosophers.
-
Zaku is definitely my favorite. Zaku I, Zaku II, Zaku III.... they are all good.

I don't really like Relena. It takes a lot more to change the world than something taught in High school. People believe their leader will make their live better; their leader (Relena in Sanq Kingdom) truly believe she can make their live better as long as they believe what she believes. In GW, this may be fine as the world is way too simpler than reality. If she is in any of the UC series, she will end up exactly like Queen Maria of Zanscare in Victory. She is too naive(stupid, in my opinion) to do anything good. She will be used by the people around her. She will simply become the symbol of THEIR power and becomes part of another evil organization.

Here is some information about Newtypes: The term Newtype is introduced by Zeon Dumkin, the founder of Zeon. He believe it is the next step in human evolution. After the established of Colonies in outerspace, people living there has developed a stronger sense for the envorinment around them. As people on Earth normally only use 25% of their brains' capacity, Newtypes are using a higher proportion of their brains. Comparing to "normal" people, they are like super human mentally; therefore, they become experimental subjects for government\military. It is hard to determine what Newtype power is as there are so few testing subjects. In UC, world is saturated with Minosky's particales casuing failure in radar and many other communication equipments. As many Newtypes have telepathing ability, the military believe they can be better soilders as they can predict enemy location and moves without the help of machine. The idea of training Newtypes comes around the end of OYW when both EF and Zeon are getting frustrated about the war. Since strong natural Newtypes are hard to find, enhanced human are developed to simulate the power of Newtypes but they are far from perfect. The power of Newtype varies from person to person. Many believe the Newtypes can see and hear the events in near future so they can predict enemy moves and can communicate mentally. Some stronger Newtypes can even control machines such as funnels and bits. More importantly, they can "feel" the enemies. So, are Newtypes invincible? They are just as human as anyone else in the world. They cannot suvive a 50m fall or a huge explosion. Newtypes are not freaks or any super human. Everyone can be a Newtype if they go through the evolution in space.

The only thing to change in Gundam Wing is to remove Gundam from it. It does not deserved to be called Gundam.
