Yes, I'm very much looking foward to this movie ^_^ In fact, I have been for some time. The only real movie about Christ we've had was that 2000 telefilm with Casper van Dien as Jesus and Debra Messing as Mary. Uhm...no thanks. And if anyone tells you they feel this will be too controversial, show them Martin Scorsese's 88 flick "The Last Temptation of Christ", a look at the days surrounding the Crucifixtion as Christ deals with his own mortality, faced with an image of a peaceful, loving life with Mary Magdalene while on the cross as his final temptation. Its amazing, and Willem Dafoe is at his best. And, yes, I am a Christian. --Chris

*Sigh* This just prompted me to go back and re-read some of my first posts on OB. I just want to say....0_0 Yes, I was a total spammer, typing up pointless questions in this huge SIZE=4 font because I was worried no one would read my posts...boy, was I wrong. And I knew all of...no one. In fact, felt a lil' left out. (Still do, but...not as much >_>) First person I met on OB that I kept in touch with would probably be Kevin. In fact, I still keep in touch with him and did some work with him on his own site/board. I know quite a few people here, and I consider every member a friend now. Yeah, I don't post that much anymore...mainly because I'm jaded and have nothing new to say, but I'm getting back in the swing of things. And the new layout is just delicious, so keep your eyes open. JCBaggee is back ^_~ --Chris

Well, I always did the technical stuff; sound, lights, etc. But I spent most of my time acting, so I can't really say I spent a lot of time doing the crew stuff. Hmph...I kinda wish I had now though.... --Chris

James, I'm going to be the black sheep here and say good work. Its obvious a lot of work went into the creation of these, and its good to have OB back, even if I don't post as much anymore. Is the squisy thing bothersome? Yeah, sorta, but only because its new. Everyone will (hopefully) learn and be used to the new layout in a week or so. If not...heh. They can switch to 800x600. I"m running 4 times that and it looks fine. The new forums are a good idea. Combining gaming and anime forums into 2 big forums was a good move. The old split forums weren't getting a lot of new posts, and this allows more people to notice more posts. Its more convenient, and you don't have to worry as much about trying to figure out which forum a thread should go in. Chris gives OB v7 a big Thumbs Up. --Chris

Well, I feel it just depends on the series. The animation on "Thundercats" suited the series perfectly. It wouldn't work with, say, "Cowboy Bebop" (granted, comparing the two are like Apples and Pluto, but lets not go into that), but the reverse wouldn't apply either. There is no animation I truly disgust, to be honest. Sometimes, the older animation is better than the current. Its not a matter of whats on the page, its about the soul of what you're looking at. --Chris

Well, let me preface this by saying I haven't played a whole lot of RPGs. I'm limited to my PS1 and a few games on my comp (*cough* ya know what i mean >_>), so my opinions may be a bit skewed... First off, I have to say I enjoyed the system from "The Legend of Dragoon". It was unique, and kept me interested in the battles. After a while, I get tired of hitting X over and over just to make a menu selection. But LoD changed that up. You had to keep tapping to hit an opponent multiple times. This means not only do you have a reason to pay more attention, but it also added depth to the battles. I also found the Dragoon Transformations to be a nice addition, as they weren't overly enforced. Sure, you could use them and get by, but a lot of the games battles were easier won without the Transformations. In fact, they were almost pointless, save for a few Boss battles. Secondly, I liked Xenogears battle system. The command interface was unique, and it kept everything organized while being kept in a seperate area. The SP points was a nice touch too, allowing you to perform some truly amazing combos. The only downside to these battles were the Gear battles. Don't get me wrong...I loved the concept. But the factor of keeping an eye on your Fuel Gauge was just a little much for me, as I constantly had to charge up my gear to keep fighting. But the best of all (and I'm really gonna be hated for this one) is one of the first PS1 RPGs, "The Granstream Saga". All battles took place in real time. You only had one character to worry about, and could change out your weapons, armor or spells quickly and easily. The commands were simple (Attack, Guard, Magic, Left/Right Sidestep) and the enemies were unique. Most poeple aren't going to agree with me on this, but I really enjoyed it, just like I did the rest of the game. So, thats my two cents. Hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about ^_^; --Chris

Well, if you want to be picky, chivalry never really existed. The good knights who were supposed to exercise it rarely did. I think its a good practice, but chivalry isn't defined by one simple thing. Its a combination of courtesy, respect, and honor. Sure, holding doors open for somebody, helping someone carry bags, thats all fine and dandy, but chivalry is also about helping the helpless. Its about saving those who need it, and protecting those who cannot protect themselves. To be able to define it by simply acting kind is nonsense. Sorry if it seems a bit ranty, I'm honestly not trying to be mean, but this is something I care very much about. Chivalry should be a given for all people, IMO. The human soul is a fragile thing, and everyone should be concerned about it. --Chris

Graduating High School, despite all the times I got screwed over by my teachers and the staff. Graduating college will be on there too, just as soon as I'm done. Oh, and if I can ever bring myself to finish redesigning my web site, that'll be a huge accomplishment. --Chris

Well, because of my own restrictions, I've only seen "X/1999" (the movie, for those who don't know). It was great as sort of a summary, but I didn't really think it cut it for me. First off, the pattern was predicatable. There was a couple of fights,
whoever created the shield dies, Kamui broods
, I just found it too easy to figure out what was happening. And the final "climatic" battle between
Kamui and Fuma
was quite the opposite. And, Daggar, I completely agree with you on the battles conclusion; the length of the battle made it feel like it was just Kamui doing his job. I didn't really feel anything, even at the end
as we see Kamui crying while he holds Fumas head
. All in all, I think it was a great precursor, and I look forward to someday seeing the series, but I just wasn't impressed with the movie. --Chris

Yes, I've heard the song, and I found it very enjoyable. I had my doubts at first, seeing as how it was just "Fell In Love With A Boy" with a minor lyrical change, but I found myself quite impressed. She has a great voice, and is an incredibly attractive young woman. I look forward to hearing more from her. --Chris

Hilarious stuff, and its remarkable that they can improv as well as they do. We've done it in my acting classes and it never turns out like theirs do 0_o I like the three regulars (Wayne, Ryan, and Colin), mainly because of the banter with Drew. I'm not that big a fan of Chip, though. Greg Proops is great, and the episode with Robin Williams ranks high on my list of favorites ^_^ Does anyone know if theres any new episodes coming out? It hasn't exactly been showing up on ABC anymore... --Chris

The dream inducing bug was in the box at Lindsay's. Eve had it in Angel's room, remember? The fact that it looks like the mayors was probably just one of many throw backs in that episode (Linday calling himself Doyle, etc.).
Oh, the Lindsay thing? Huge spoilery bit here. Don't read unless you absolutely must know! I'm warning ya! Last chance!
The whole deal ends...tomorrow! Lindsay as a threat is neutralized, but further spoilers show his family may turn up in a future episode with a mind wipe similar to the Connor situation! Lindsay may also make a return...maybe W&H has done other mindwipes the crew doesn't know about?
--Chris

I actually started watching Buffy because of Angel (had to get that backstory!). The biggest selling point, to me, was always the maturity of it. Angel was obviously aimed for an older, more mature audience than Buffy. Sure, the same underlying storylines of belonging and doing whats right are there, but Angel made them more obvious and easy to see, as well as gave us different takes on it. Tomorrows the big 100th ep. I'm looking forward to it ^_^ --Chris

I completely agree with ya on the Orpheus episode.
And anything featuring Willow is great. The character is phenomonal and Mrs. Hannigan is yet another amazing actress. Hopefully they'll finally talk to her about coming over permanently one day
. I'm looking forward to anything Angelus, and the situation you pointed out sounds great. Watch Angel cope with randomly switching between personalities would be very interesting. --Chris

Glenn Quin played Doyle. He was one of the more popular characters. Doyle only lasted 6 episodes. Sadly, Glenn himself died unexpectedly in 1999. --Chris

Ah, I remember James Bond Jr. Geez, he had the pseudo-mullet too, didn't he? And, Poison, you forgot one stereotype for Wheeler...he was always hitting on the blonde. --Chris

Mmm....I remember this series. Heck, I remember sitting at the table with cups of hot and cold water and a CP action figure. Ah, those were such better days. Great show, but....did Cap have a mullet? --Chris

As you may have noticed in passing, "Angel" (one of my favorite shows on right now) hits episode number 100 this week with episode 5.12; "You're Welcome!" The series is really doing great now, with some of the best rating for a long time. The new, self-contained storytelling for the series is doing great at balencing between keeping the longtime fans happy and not throwing too much on the new ones. Anyhoo, In light of ep 100, I'd like everyone who's a fan (and I know there are at least 2) to post a little something about their favorite ep in the series run. (And, no, I haven't seen every single episode. I have seen most of them now, though, and read summaries for the ones I haven't) -----(AND, PSSST! THERE'S KIND OF A SPOILERY BIT IN THIS!)-----
Episode 2.2; "Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been" One of the first episodes of the series run to focus on a key element of Angel's past, "Are You Now..." drifts between present day as the Angel Investigations team begins a new case for Angel; researching the old Hyperion Hotel. The Hotel has been out of use for years because of past issues. We later learn that Angel stayed there about 50 years earlier, while a demon was trying to feed off of fears. While trying to stop the demon, Angel is caught up in a murder case and accused of the murder. The Hotel tenants lynch Angel, while a young woman he was trying to save, Judy, blames herself for this. Her fear overtakes her and she becomes the demons "feast". Angel, recovering from being hung off the stairs, turns his back on the tenants in a final, chilling flashback where he tells the demon to "Kill 'em all." We then join the crew in present day Hyperion, where they exorcise the demon and discover that Judy is still being fed off of. After seeing Angel, who reassurses her, Judy dies. So, why is it one of my favorites? Well, first off, I've always enjoyed eps of Buffy and Angel where they dig into Angel's tortured past, especially when they focus on his crimes as the cruelest vamp of all, Angelus. But this ep seems to blur that line. Angel is obviously the Angel we see in present day LA, but at the same time its made clear he still carries a bit of Angelus out in the open, as he walks out on the people he was trying to save and allows the demon to feast on them. Don't get me wrong. There are tons of other great episodes in the series. In fact, this past weeks episode is high up on the list, continuing to delve into Angel's remorse, as well as showing him deal with the recent revelations that no one quite trusts him anymore.
All in all, hot series and anyone whos into anything vamp-like should check it out. The series hits it dark where it should, but also knows when to poke fun at itself. 100 great episodes and counting... --Chris

The Spider-Man SoundTrack is a great CD. I keep going back to it when I need good tunes to listen to at the house. Its just got this sorta nerdy feel to it that I love. --Chris

Hey now, my cousin went to GA Tech and she turned out okay! I'm going to Northwestern Technical in Rock Springs, GA. Yes, Tech college. And it is not college for stupid people. However, I will say that easy classes and pretty girls is very nice ^_^ --Chris

So, got the QuickTime version for a better look at things. It lived up to my expectations. It looked great, the characters had obviously grown a bit, the actors were comfortable, and Alfred Molina (a terrific, terrific, highly under-rated actor) acted like Doc Ock were if he were real. Yes, you say Doc Ock looks too cartoony coming up, but think about it: isn't the stout, confident, easily in control Ock you're used to a cartoon? If you had tentacles, you wouldn't master them that easily. And I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the man who is walking down the stairs with MJ is
John Jameson, the son of J. Jonah Jameson. In the comics, he became the infamous Man-Wolf
. Yes, they
are engaged
, but I think its pretty much a given to any fan of Spidey that it won't last long ^_~
Peter Parker talking to Spider: "So...you bite me and I marry a supermodel? Deal! OW!"
--Chris

Well, for those who don't know, the initial release of the first Spider-Man 2 Teaser Trailer was...today! The trailer looks like it could be fun and exciting, but...its in Java! Yes, the QuickTime release won't be until tomorrow. For those who care...the trailer can be viewed at...this site. --Chris

First off, this theory's relatively old. There was a site long ago with screen caps that supported it, but...I can't seem to find it. Anyhoo, there are numerous things you could look at...
during the end FMV, the wings on the back of Rinoa's outfit momentarily turn black...Ultimecia resembles an aged Rinoa (regarding that, I believe it could also be the effects of prolonged magic use...but that's just me)...
Etc., etc. And, about the timeline issue
theoretically, that happens in any scenario where you travel to the past. If you eliminate your problem, then you never have any reason to go back to the past, thus you never go back and don't fix the problem...that's why time travel is pretty much impossible.
--Chris

Toriyama was never ripped off. In fact, he's said many times he has a great respect for the people who moved on and made GT. The studio that made them had the rights to make new series without Toriyama's consent, and took advantage of it. They simply weren't able to top the popularity of DBZ. And though I've never seen it myself, several fans will tell you DBGT gets much better towards the end. --Chris
