1. It truly saddens me that this hasn't gotten any replies yet. The only bit of criticism I have, would be to work on your wording just a little bit. I know some phrases you chose are used right, but it just irks me.
His sensitive ears picked up nervous feet scurry up the stairs to the upper floor level of the building. (paragraph four, first sentence)
Yet to use so many words to say that he heard someone running upstairs. Details fine, but it's the way that authors treat the detail, and include it that make the stories great for me.
2. Gah! So much happening, I haven't gotten much done for my peice... I'm gonna drop my dibs, and let someone else go while I keep working... I might claim dibs later. Sorry everyone.
3. Dibs! I call next! I'll edit in a day or two when I'm done!
4. I really don't feel like sugarcoating anything in this vote, so if I'm a prick or a pansy, please forgive me. Let's just get it straight out there, Boo, I feel deserves my vote. White: Your text just bothers me. The way you have it arranged is an annoyance to me. Having varying line lengths, and such... just interrupts the simplicity you tried to achieve. As most people said, your use of the white leaves, meant to be the focal point, is too numerous, and just cluttered. The "rare" white leaves would have looked better, just a few scattered. Boo: Clockwork. A Clockwork Orange rings a bell when I read that... It is, and will be one of my favorite movies. You scored some points there. The immense black on white contrast, heavy black to heavy white, I don't feel hurts the image. I think it balances out. The gears are beautiful, yet I can see where someone gets the idea of floating. The arrows are another nice touch, draw the viewers eyes to the top. Clockwork is added in there nicely, squished only slightly, to mirror the squished gears. One last thing, I really admire your use of just black and white, and leaving out any grey. Bravo. Great round to both of you.
5. Well, if it isn't my favorite John ever! *Get your name fixed sometime soon!* I have to say, the ideas behind your banner and avi are awesome. Just, love it... but, as always.. I'm a nit picky idiot. 6.5/10 Your banner has a fun picture, and awesome cropping.... but in general, the image quality of both pictures... for lack of a better term.. sucks. The thicker then normal border is always great... *and who can go wrong with the barondance? That's why you get the .5* The quality really just bothers me that much John... fix it!
6. Since I use Foobar, my method to attain the information was a bit... different. I loaded all my music into a playlist, randomized the list 4-5 times, did a "play random" command.... aand then just coppied the first song, and next 10 songs that followed. Aaand I've done this more then once, just because the results were a bit tainted... *A list of almost entire Nirvana... and such... not as fun >_>* 232. The Refreshments - [Wheelie #06] Girly The Refreshments were an Arizona band from the early 90's... The music's loose, fun, and just easy to listen to. Some of it... get's reminisent of a "drunken stupor," but it's all in fun! 233. Jack Off Jill - [Clear Hearts Grey Flowers #08] Witch Hunt I have a diverse collection of friends, and I love them all... My friend Amanda was constantly talking about Jack Off Jill, and I do know a few of their songs... I finally snapped and asked her to bring me a decent CD of theirs... I'm so glad I did! I love it! 234. Rage Against The Machine - [Rage Against The Machine #10] Freedom Not much to say here... just good old spazzing music! 235. Arch Enemy - Stigmata As of recently, I've been getting more and more metal from friends... Arch Enemy is something I love. The lead singer Angela has a gorgeous voice *even when she's growling* And it's just so fun for me to listen to.... I love it. I recommend just giving them a listen. PureVolume.com has about 3 songs to demo. 236. Disturbed - [Ten Thousand Fists #07] Sons Of Plunder Dunno what to say about this... bought it on a whim... listen to it occasionally... meh. 237. Jack Johnson - [In Between Dreams #14] Constellations Great song... just somethin' truely different for me. It does have it's good moments, and I can convince my mum to listen to it over country on trips... >_> *She won't touch any of the rock/metal T.T* 238. Green Day - [1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours #10] The Judge's Daughter This is older Green Day... Alot of that CD sounds the same, but I still love giving it a listen. I have a "new" CD of theirs to give a listen... but almost everyone's heard of/listened to Green Day. 239. AFI - [The Art Of Drowning #02] The Lost Souls Pretty much the same situation as the Jack Off Jill... raving friend, and me finally asking for some. 240. 3 Doors Down - [Away From The Sun #05] Running Out of Days Somethin' from my earlier years... I really didn't have "taste" but it was somethin' that I thought was worth buying. I haven't listened to it in a year or so... but no worries. 241. Jack Off Jill - [Clear Hearts Grey Flowers #06] Author Unknown ... Yeah. 242. Queens Of The Stone Age - [Lullabies To Paralyze #07] Little Sister I've listened to them for a long while, and still love them. It killed me when my audio ripper genrelized them as Stoner Rock... lol
7. All I got for tonight.... EDIT: It's 11:30 Arizona time, Saturday night, the 26th.
8.
We permit those who are participating in the tournament to vote as well.
I believe I'll start this trend out... I don't believe a point by point breakdown of likes and dislikes are needed for this round, for there are so many other competitors, it'd just make this post even more confusing. Each members piece was well done, and had a high measure of quality to it. Retri's and Baron's pieces were both unique in stock choice. My only complaint is the text on Retribution's image. No matter what color it is, the font choice and size make it unreadable. =P Now... on to my VOTE. After close analysis *On my own time.... not here* of each competitors piece... I have easily found a decision. One competitors piece, has a somewhat ideal interpretation of the theme... but don't quite pull it off. Gemini; Your piece has a nice idea behind it... but alot of things don't fit. There could always be a better stock choice, this one seems to give mixed interpretations, and not as much focus on the water, as what feels like sorrow from the girl. Your text choice, again, is a problem with me. The main font choice isn't that great, somewhat bland, and the fading is poorly done. With all the bright flashes and shimmers in the water, it makes a few areas hard to read. The text for "exposure" which I'm not sure what it means in relation, brings up a good point. This entrie piece.... sadly, is pixelated... and not in a good way. Many parts seem grainy, but still managable. One last thing, and it's a nit-pick of mine... but you don't have a border. No border?!? Some pieces it is understandable... but on this one, it just seems to give a low quality look. Seems slopped together, and... just... I'm not sure where I was going with this one. Sorry to say, my vote goes to Gemini. Please, don't get me wrong, everyone's pieces were great, and please don't take what I said to harshly... I am only trying to justify my vote... I don't want any feelings hurt, or later bias... And don't let what I said count against me to severly.... I really don't wanna hurt anyone.
9. Even though I personally love Kitty's piece, I agree with Baron. It is their right, and opinion, as to why her piece shouldn't advance. Given the chance, due to how amazing the rest of the competitors pieces have been, if Kitty is disqualified *Which truely seems unlikely* I would gladly bow out to her superior piece. But, as I stated, I totally agree with the Baron, and they have all the right to vote against if they feel her piece isn't chosen well.

12. After much pondering, and Firefox dieing twice... here's my vote. Retri: Your piece is nothing short of what I'd expect from you. Very high quality achieved, and captures the theme perfectly. Not that it shows any pieces that might be concidered great literature *a term open for interpretation*, but it does show just an over all classieness that I'd expect. Also, the choices and layout are nothing short of great. ^_^ And "Metamorphosis" has a strong tie in to my everyday life.... very nice. ^_^ Delta *as you go by now... =P*: Your piece is of a wonderful standard too. ^_^ Very high quality work. I can see you have interpreted the "Great Literature" theme in your own way, and I do respect that. Einstein's work is well worthy of tribute. The background, and over all layout of this piece is well done, but leaves just a little wanted in my views. Congrats on such a great piece though. Through my own personal pondering, even though my reasons might not be illustraited as well as I'd hope here, my vote goes to Retribution. ^_^ Very nice piece
13. Ennui - I needed to actually look up that word... ^_^ Very fun. Baron: Based on the definition, I really do love your piece. ^_^ Hell, without the definition the piece is awesome. I have seen you use this stock before, and it always yealds great results. The color and text choice is superb... The border is unique, and covering only three sides is a fun idea... but is understandable with such a large ammount of earth showing. All in all, wonderful. Sean: The abstract is what you seem to lay back on... The background is nice, but doesn't preach the quality that Baron's does. The text isn't appropriate for this theme either... in my opinion. All the colors are bright, and draw the eye... but that's probably one of the only goods I find with this. The Textbook definition doesn't seem fitting either... I'm just not fond of your piece. Baron has my vote. Well done.
14. Well, here comes my attempt at a critique...Please, bare with me. Kitty: All the points brought up are very true. Your piece doesn't give the straight off message that is explained. I do enjoy the image though. I can see the abstract, and tonel differences can represent the sky, stars, and universe. *That's what I'm interpreting them as* Retri has summed up the rest of what I would have said... ^_^ Amazing job Kitteh, and I feel this is a great quality piece. Ozy: Well, the theme is spot on, birth is a wonderful miracle. The colors are all very appropriate, and warm. I do not, of course, like the text. The font choice is nice, but the coloring is just awkward... Also, what Retri brought up is starting to nag at my eyes... Well, even though I don't have much to say, I'm sure my vote goes to Kitty... I feel her piece is alot more attractive, of a higher quality, and presents the Miracle theme well.
15. I agree with Doukeshi. I mean, I'm all for competition, but having a late entry like this isn't fair to all the other competitors in my opinion. I mean, we let him in, as Douk said... he didn't pass through the 1st round. I think it'd be fun to see what he could create, but since my opponant has already thrown in the towel, I think that I have done my... my... required waiting, participating, and accepting. So... just to clarify, I don't think it's fair for him to just join like this, but would love to see what he can make with the barrier, and have it posted... only for fun. =P
