Wikipedia defines propaganda as such:
A specific type of message presentation aimed at serving an agenda. At its root, the denotation of propaganda is 'to propagate (actively spread) a philosophy or point of view'. The most common use of the term (historically) is in political[/url'] contexts; in particular to refer to certain efforts sponsored by governments or political groups.
Retribution: Your pic is an awesome combination of two pieces of World War II propaganda. A Russian poster, and Chinese, and both are amazing. I do notice, *since the stocks were scans* that the original text is slightly pixelated and blurred. I think that these do a decent job of inspiring/motivating the people as to their cause. The text is a little confusing at first, but the more I read it over and over, it seems to slowly make sense. Sort of motivating through example. "The women chose to fight, what will you do" type of thing. Hack Helba: Uncle Sam is classic. The colors, and text all seem to blend well... enough. The text all seems a little too clear to match the character, and the border/paper look. I had noticed, in the upper left hand corner, that it has a red blur. I mean.. a darkend area that doesn't match the rest... just a bit uneven. Well, all around the border, it darkens and lightens. It also has a great looking pie... Xp Well, the time has come for me to cast my vote. I have to question myself, "Who produced the best graphics piece? Who created the most persuasive piece?" Even though it is very persuasive, and tempting... my vote is going to have to go to Retri. Both competitors fought well, but I just prefer the classic, war propaganda. Congradulations to both. ^_^ Good luck in the next round to the winner.

What Petie has offered some really sound advice. And, since your nortin registraition has run out.. I'd recommend avast! antivirus. If you are interested, run a google search for it. It has a constant monitering feature, and has prevented me from getting a few nasty trojans. ^_^

Well, even though most of my time after the 15th shall be eaten up by school, I yearn to enter with a passion. lol I wish to enter OBGT, no matter what my prior engagements are.

Twisted Vision: I had already expressed many of my views/criticisms about this piece over AIM... but I'll touch over it. At first, I had no idea what it was, but after realizing that it was an escolater *sp?*, I came to appretiate the effects used. In the bottom right, the lighting effects... give it a scanned book look. Like, I mean... the glow from a crease. It is still very nice, and the title is alot better than I came up with. Make Me: Helba pretty much summed it up. I at first was looking for a picture, a stock of some kind... but it's a nice... semi Abstract look. Reminds me of the Picaso abstracts and such... The colors are nice, and at once... I thought the shapes made a picture... lol. I guess it's only in my mind. Hack Helba: *Bows* Awesome tribute. It's a great stock, and the effects you have used fit greatly. The "Hack Helba" text fit greatly, and all the colors, and grid effect are all greatly used/put together. My only gripe is the "Thread Closed" It's just too faint to make out.

I had a nice long post drawn up I meant to post last night, it was semi indepth and such... but because of my time delays I lost it. I'll do a quick sum up. Retri: I do prefer your vibe of life. It has the insignificant for us, as we grow... but thinking about it, it shows what's special to a child. I love the bright, vibrant colors, they help get the childish view across *how many kids, besides those abused and such.. lived in dark, dreary, everything sucks and is black worlds?* Sean: I had first misinterpreted your piece. I do like the concept, likes gone in a blink. My vote goes to Retri.

LMS 1, 2, and 3: I do really like the simplistic look of these pieces. There isn't too much happening, nor an actual picture for which detail is derived. All of the colors do blend nicely, and it'ce nice houw each is layed out exactly the same. ^_^ I mean, for competitions sake. Kids with Guns: Just looking at it, I really like this picture. Even though the title, and the two beings in the picture represent something terrible, I do love the whole image. I dig the textured wall esk image the beings are drawn on... it gives it a more realistic effect. Also, since the two forms seem to have many differences, *besides the raised arm* I also think it's great you had created two totally different characters. Big thumbs up. The Way I Navigate: Another awesome Gorrilaz refference. I like how there's motion blur from the cars, yet only one lights on. Adds to a strange... high speed vibe. I realize the text is also giving just a standard transportation message. As in Watch the Way I Navigate isn't just the title... but an overal theme. Very nice. Also, I really love the Gorillaz picture in your last post. It is now one of my favorite fan images of them. ^_^ It's so awesome.

It'd help if you were a little more specific. I mean.. "Anime or something"... I shall attempt this NERD/Neptunes banner/avi here in a few... before I leave tonight. ^_^ But I still think it'd help if you found pics you were fond of first.

I recommended it.. and said how to do it in my post before last.. I think Fatel skipped over it... or something. ^_^ That's how I fixed my last comp problem.

I'm not sure what that delete thing you found does... but the rebuild is simply backing up all your data in some way... and inserting the disk that came with your Windows. It is the Installation disk. It has an option to format *writes over all the data* the Hard Drive... and then reinstalls windows over it. It is usually a last resort... taken only when nothing else works... have you tried safemode yet?
-
Well, before you do the complete rebuild... what you have described sounds like something I've done. I had screwed up a theme patcher (which was supposed to allow me to use 3rd party, non microsoft themes) for Windows XP *which it sounds as if your running... with all the SVChosts. I had messed up the patch, and all my menues were pitch black... Nothing would show.. and it was impossible to do/go anywhere, for everything had vanished into a vast blackness. *Except the wallpaper... which was odd* If you could remember any programs you have installed lately, that could be causing a problem... That could be of great help. Also, if you don't want to quite try the full re-build *reinstalling windows* I'd recommend during boot up... pressing F8 repeatedly. This will open a Dos menu, and you should select "Run in Safe Mode" or something along those lines. When it finally boots, it should look like the classic Windows. A window should come up asking about system restore. I'd try going back a day or two before this problem started, and see if that helps fix anything. If not, then the full rebuild is the only other option I can think of.

Not much to praise here. It's very simplistic. I hope you enjoy. Banner: Avi: Let me know if you want anything changed.

Yes "spools.exe" is a torjan... but you have to be careful. Are you sure it's spools? I mean... spoolsv.exe is the Microsoft Printer program. Be careful, check to make sure it's spools and not spoolsv. If it is spools, do as Petie has said.

Request Irvine Kinneas Avi and Banner Pics Included
Doc replied to DaSilva's topic in Creative Works
Well, similarity isn't a bad thing. I do prefer yours though. I wish I had thought of the way you had extended the banner. I mean... using the pic again, but zoomed, to show the detail. ^_^ Very nice -

Well, I'm sorry for the crappyness. I mean... I just threw together what you had provided... and it's ok. If you wish for a change, I'll be glad to help. I'm sure there are many other, more skilled people, who will be glad to create a better version The Banner I screwed up, and have been bickered at... the original crap banner sucks... and the remake somehow was enlarged.. and is 102 px. Instead of screwing about with it... I'll just leave the avi. I don't want to deal with the fustraition that comes from bickering people "THE LIMIT'S 100 NOT 102 n00b!!11!1!" If you wish for me to make another attempt... just ask. The avi I'm getting told that I should have a more rugged font on the banner... if you feel so, I'll be glad to attempt one. -
There isn't one.
Thanks for the clarification. I had a feeling that there weren't any others. I have recieved an alternative... that I'm pleased with.
-
I would have been more than happy to attempt and create this banner/whatever for you... Yet, your links are broken... as to say, they don't work. If you can provide working links, it'd be a lot easier for someone to create the image you want. XP

Uh thanks for the advice guys, but I don't think that I can join because I don't have paint shop pro. :animecry:
You don't have to use some specific imaging program. I mean, my computer can't handle the current Photoshop *curse my cheap purchase*. There are many other alternatives out there. I don't have a list of alot of them, but I am attempting to use GIMP. If you wish, look around for an alternative.

I've been looking for some tutorials and such, to learn the basics. I have been having some trouble finding some that are... decent. As this shows, I'm totally clueless. I would like to ask if someone here could point me to a decent tutorial, whether on making graphics, or anything else recommended. I don't care if the tutorial is for Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, or some other alternative, I'll find a way to translate it to the program I use. Just for the record, I am currently using the GIMP. If anyone can offer a better, free alternative... that's legal, I'll be extremely grateful.

:animesigh Uh, what exactly is this thread about? :animeswea
This is a graphics competition based on the members of the "Graphics Club" which is a thread down the page in the Art Studio forum. Anyone who is a member of the club, is allowed to enter, and you can find out how to become a member in that thread. ^_^ I hope that answers your question

Well, since I'm only starting to develop any chance of producing decent graphics, I don't believe I'm qualified to participate. If I were to attempt, I'd get demolished in seconds. So, on that note, I wish to apply to be a judge. I feel that I have a duty to help this, since I've joined the club. And this would help show me different styles. Also, as the current [Sun vs. Helba] battle proves, I can keep level headed and attempt to analyze the work, despite is content, with a somewhat attempt at fair criticism, instead of "I like so and so's because the girls hot."

Sun: I do have to agree with Retri a bit on this one. It does look like "THIS IS NOT BEAUTY" It is very well made, and when I first saw it, I was very impressed. For the look it achieves it's beautiful. I do not like the girl on the left though... it's sort of like her feminine curves were removed... and just focusing on her bosom. I mean, it's all good from some stand points, but I think it doesn't quite match up with the other side as well... It just has a different feel to me. Sure the other one doesn't focus on her curves as much... but it has more of an upper torso focus... Helba: Yours does have a bit of a different vibe to it. I mean... you have the model in the foreground, and off to the side, with a general focus on the being instead of the over all piece. I'm just spewing random bable, I'm sorry. But I do also love how crisp the picture is. I mean... finding stocks like that is hard.. for a specific look. Sorry, I'm all over with this critique. Even though I ragged on his piece, I do prefer Sun's. I'm sorry... but over all, I just prefer a vibe I got after writting up the above.

Just a quick sketch I guess you could call that a display of boredom. I am not particularly estatic about it... but I do think it turned out nice and cute... like. I have to say, I really enjoy almost every one posted above, they are all really nicely done... heh... by my standards.

Thank you James. ^_^ I know it will be appretiated by many. Yet, if you could figure out how to make it that the VB code doesn't count, 500 would be an awesome limit. But since it does, 600 is amazing. Thank you, sir.
-
Not to be mean or anything... but why do you need to add in a whole 'nother verse to your signature? Another verse that no one will read, and it'll just sit there festering? I think 500 is fine... and I have trouble imagining what you'd put there. I mean, I was on a site with a 50 character limit, and I managed. **shrug**
I don't need too. I was only complaining because of a message I was trying to get across. I'm more than happy not having the other "part" of the verse. It was only 1 line. Meh, I just think that some people do have some interesting things to say, and sometimes the limit does hinder that. Also, I read almost any and all signatures I come across here. Yet that's a habit. I can do without a signature, if needed, and would survive, but since I have the privelige to have one, I think that the 500 limit should be coushined a little because of the ammount of VB code added.
-
As far as I know, vB code -or anything between the codes- is not counted with the ammount of characters. This should not have any effect on the ammount of text you want in your banner. As for the 600 characters idea, I wouldn't care. The past few months I only had a banner and either a quote or a link in my signature. I'm still alive!
Are you serious? Well, if someone such as James says this too, I shall just delete this and my previous post, for they would be useless attempts, which inturn would also contain wrong information. ^_^
