Foreign Devils Volume 1: The Land Of The Gods EDITED2- Altron made a good point, I forgot to add details with all my marketing sentences. See below for added content. The xenophobic lands of Asia have always held a special mystery for the men of the West. This has lead to everything from wars, to trade empires, to broken families and much, much more. The relationship between the people of East and West is careful at best and fascinating on many levels. The islands of Japan are known by many names- The Land of Tears, the Land of the Rising Sun, the Land of the Gods? and all of these names are appropriate in turn. In 1603, when Ieyasu Tokugawa became Shogun, Supreme Military Ruler, of a United Japan, he shut the gates to all foreigners. Only in a strictly restricted district of Nagasaki was a heavily regulated amount of trade allowed, leaving much mystery in the minds of the Westerners that traded there. Legends begin as whispers, run their course and go out like January embers. Stories-breathed in corners in Dover inns, and creeping from the mouths of barkeeps in New Port News- began circulating around the North Atlantic rim. Stories of men who could kill 100 riflemen with magic swords, of assassins that were swifter than the wind and more deadly than a bullet grosse point blank, and of fantastic ladies far beyond what they knew in the States and England swirled around in a maelstrom of fervor and anticipation. With each passing year, the tales grew taller and taller- with each sailor, each adventurer, each captain holding his own dream of what lay beyond the rising sun. Visions of golden streets, breathtaking ladies, and azure seas danced in every head that gazed out to sea. Many attempted to reach these lands beyond the sun, but none returned. Fear, as well as desire, conflicted within perspective adventurers until few dared discuss such a voyage, let alone set out on one. In the year 1837, only one American captain, James P. Horizon, secretly funded by the senator from Pennsylvania; John Wolfe, left the San Francisco bay in search of the lands of legend. He and a small, capable crew struck Westward with a vengeance, seeking to be rid of the constant dissention among local and national politicos. The China Clipper, Raider, made good progress, and found the sea of Japan in the August of ?37. Anchored a mere 3 miles off of the coast of Kyushu, these brave men and women braced themselves for what they believed was going to be the adventure of a century. Horizon and his crew seek an avenue of trade, and perhaps a new dominion for the United States. Opening Japan to the United States would generate vast amounts of wealth, and perhaps become a Pacific base against the looming terror of Russia. On the other side of things, Tokugawa Tokano, the embattled Shogun of Japan watches the ominous white sails carefully. His rival, Ichiro Kozuma, continues to stir up the Daimyos against him. Calling for a council of Daimyos to oversee the Shogunate, Kozuma's real goal is the most obvious secret in Asia. Unbeknownst to Tokano, his brother and hatamoto, Yoshi, has sold out to Kozuma for the promise of a seat on Kozuma's council. Tokano's bakufu crumbles beneath Yoshi's ever so subtle corruption. With the mysterious Foreign Devils surely to land soon, and Kozuma's constant schemeing, Tokugamwa Tokano wonders what the gods have in store for his land of Nihon... and whether the Foreign Devils have come to bring war at last. And so begins the first installment of Foreign Devils: Sailing Westward! I am looking for 3 or more crew members (male or female), Tokugawa, and several Japanese of note (at least one woman). I will be James Horizon. Also, I need someone to be a rival for the Shogunate. The story centers around the growing movement for civil war in Japan, and the arrival of the Westerners. Anything goes, but keep it real! (Samurai are totally welcome) Signups- Name- Age- 17-40 Sex- Personality- Biography- Notes of Import- Thank you for your interest, PM me with any questions. (Gai-jin does own. I think Shogun is his best though. Noble House has to be up there too.)

I'm 17, and like Samedi, not an anime fan. I'm curious as to what demographics project you attribute the reason for asking such a question?

I am no fan of DKM... but Flogging Molly is ******* awesome! I LOVE Devil's Dance Floor and Rebels of the Sacred Heart. Totally awesome dancing songs. They have something.. really cool about them, I think it's as you said, the accents and the folk/rock beats mixed together. S Class stuff there, my friend. -

What do otakus think about Homosexuality?
Juke Box Hero replied to Miryoku's topic in General Discussion
The problem with the whole argument over homosexuality is that people automatically assume that it is a religiously based problem. For clarification, I am a Protestant Christian. I propose the look at this from a purely secular viewpoint. Put the Bible away. Put Ellen DeGeneres' diary away. Put the Koran away. Think about this from the point of secular morality. And yes, there is secular morality. It is the fundamental absolute truths that all of successful human societal is based on: No murder, theft, rape, purjury, etc. Although the Bible stands STRONGLY against these things, they have been implemented in non-Biblical societies for thousands of years. We have society A. Society A is a relatively new group of people, they have established government A. Government A has all of the basic laws: No murder, theft, rape, purjury, etc. But one law that is still on the voting floor is that of banning the practice of homosexuality. The idea of banning two human beings from anything is rather absurd, because they will do it anyway, if they really want to. Thus the true question is: Does society A want to accept homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle? A few things must be considered before the pro's and con's can be wieghed. A. The homosexuality debate is not a matter of civil rights. B. Some homosexuals are productive citizens, others are not, just like straight people. Those things aid, its time for the con's: If a man-man and woman-woman relationship is acceptable, why not child-adult, animal-human, or corpse-human relationships? These are doors a society cannot afford to open. Or even consider knocking on. Children need a defined system of human interaction if they are to grow up psychologically sound. A child will be confused if he sees 2 moms, or 2 dads, instead of 1 mother and 1 father. The family is the amino acid of society. To break it up or damage it is an irreparable blow to the fabric of that society itself. Pro's- I cannot think of even 1 way a society would benefit from accepting homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle. Keyword: benefit. Think about that, and then ask yourself, why should homosexuality be considered an acceptable lifestyle? -

I am HUGE on my wardrobe. Most guys my age buy video games and dirtbikes, I buy jeans. About 95% of my jeans are the following brands: Diesel Calvin Klien Lee's Structure D&G I also do Docker's, CK, and C&W dress pants. Although I'm MUCH more of a jeans person than khakis or something. For shirts... I have about 50 T-shirts from ALL over the place, not much in terms of brand there. Mostly from places I've been, events, etc. My favorite shirts are my party button downs. I have a totally kick *** blue button down by Roberto Galiffa (sp?). It's fitted, so I look much more built than I am in it, which helps with the ladies ^_~. Other than the Galiffa, I have some CK, Perry Ellis, van Heusen, and Puritan's. I'm not a fan of the Puritan's, because they are more for church, rather than a party. I also have my athletic stuff: UnderArmour, Nike, Adidas, etc. So yea, I guess I'm on the preppy side. -
My dream job.... hmm... Chief Exec of Exxon Mobile. Everyone hates giant oil companies, and everyone hates execs. Thus I'd be the maniacally evil badasses exec out to ruin forests and shoot rabbits for fun. Cash, travel, women... that job has it all. Plus a personal helicopter. The highest echelon of Execs of Global Firms make 80-150 mill in an average year. Not to mention expense accounts and stock options... I'd be totally rolling in it. Oooh boy would that rock and roll. On the less materialistic end of things, the job would give me challenging and complex problems to handle. So responsibility: for the employees, the money, the shareholders, my family, my friends, my allies... and the list goes on. I would need to achieve prodigal levels ofstrategic application to merely survive at such a position. And thats my passion- Power under pressure.
