Well, my sisters are probably Annie, and Japan_86... when they were on Jenna and Juu were probably very sister-ish... Those were back in what Drix calls the golden days of Jenna... -_- I consider Boba Fett, maybe Deathbug, and a few others "cousins". Mitch, Lynx, Baron Samedi, Chaos, and Tony (semjaza) would most definately be brothers... even in a metaphorical sense. Finally, I'm Siren's daddy...
I would like to just take this opputunity that I am officially that uncle that appears at any family function in which booze is free and likewise distributive. Yes, that one that embarrasses you by just hearing his name mentioned. Aside from that, I'm just a random relative. Like for example, Ken one time went into this great long debacle about how since I was his bro I was somehow linked to every member on OB. And, yes, he actually linked me to just about everyone he could pick on... God that was a long chat.

Would you choose the Sex of your baby?
Chaos replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Not possible. They mess with the gender genes before the gender of the baby is confirmed, which isn't as soon as conception.
Actually it's a chromosome issue. At the right developmental stage a certain chemical signal is sent through the body signifying the growth of male structure, since all vertebrae are inherently female upon conception. =X I would like the ability to choose the gender of my child. And yes, I would want a son. So much less work to do. :P And I would like some sort of Gattaca **** where I could prevent hereditary sickness and inherent immunities to known viruses and bacteria. No sense in bringing someone in this world without due protection. -
Personally I'd tell her to **** off. But that's just me. Really though, I do think you should assert these feelings more directly. Actually tell your grandmother that she's nosy, rude, and flat-out wrong. Explain it to her, in not so many words, that she should let you live your life your way, and that she doesn't know everything, and that Bible-beating old women are a menace to all forms of civilized life. [PLEASE NOTE: The last few comments were of personal opinion and if there is any inheritance to be had you should not mention such emotions and instead butt-kiss until that big bed pan in the sky.] Honestly, there is a certain advantage to direct confrontation. If she is anything of a filial grandmother, she should be ashamed at not only embarassing you, your husband, but the very fabric of your lives as well. Not to mention she made an *** of herself numerous times. There's that, or total dettachment from your grandmother. Both would solve an amount of the problems, but not all of them. Just a suggestion from your friendly neighborhood nuke. :toothy: PS: Catholics are the most hypocritical bastards on the face of the Earth and they all deserve to be boiled in oil. PPS: I'm a Christian, too. So shush. PPPS: I don't officially practice any type of organized religion. PPPPS: I like pie.

Like I said, I understand what you say, it's just that by what you're saying, the very first genetic particle of RNA still exists today somewhere in my bloodstream. To put it in a calmer tone so most can understand, when the species of Homo sapian dies out, humans will be gone, because that's what WE are classified as. The next step in evolution will be similar, but it will not be human. And that is a recognized scientific belief. And the creatures of Earth will carry on without us. Our evolutionary forms will either be intellectually superior that they do not look back or apes that don't posses the ability to look back. In that, the genetic heritage will continue with time, but we, as recognizable humans will not.
-
I class "dying out" and evolving into something new as two seperate things. Assuming evolution to be absolutely correct, the forms of man which came before homo sapiens never died out, but they became homo sapiens- their previous form was no more, but the bloodline itself has carried on. Whereas "dying out" itself is something I'd only really associate with complete extinction, not just the "extinction" of a particular species because another evolved out of it, but the extinction of a species which prevents a further one from doing so.
Eh, I see your point, but the thing of it is, if it evolves, the previous form no longer exists. We come from Homo erectus, but is it not considered extinct, even though we share the same bloodline?
-

Problem with what you're saying there is that it's to do with evolution. Homo sapiens may well have disappeared in a few thousand years, but the bloodline itself will continue, but a little further down the evolutionary line. So we won't have died out so much as we will have evolved out of our current state
That, generally, is the same thing as saying we died out. Our current forms were not fit for current lifestyles, so we changed. Thus, Homo sapians as we know them no longer exist.
I disagree with the assertion that humans are frail. As individuals, yes, but as a species, we're highly adaptable; if there's a place humans can live, we've lived there. We're rather hardy for pink hairless monkies.[/size']
No, wrong. We do not adapt to the environment. We adapt the environment to us. We go into a place and change it, clearing the land of structural barriers and wildlife. Even inhospitable places have been gutted and irrigated to make for villages in the middle of deserts and civilization in the midst of deadly rain forests. There is a very big line between us adapting and us defacing.
It's for this reason that I'm not really sold on the whole "humanity kills itself" angle. Humanity can shoot itself in the foot, and we can easily destroy our civilization, but the fact is, the human survival instinct is very great; it's what got us where we are today.[/size']
Two things will happen; 1) we will start some sort of disaster that will kill all humans and most wildlife on the planet, or 2) we will evolve out of this current state. And how does evolution occur? Through behavioral changes and physical necessity. Meaning we WILL eventually cause the downfall of ourselves. It nay not be for another three hundred years and it may not happen in a giant explosion, but it will happen.
Oh, and if we're going to go down the old "humans alter our environment" path, I'd like to point out that we are far from the only species to alter the Earth and the environment. The fact is, all this discussion on human damage to the environment is narcissistic, because it assumes that the environment is static in a state that is ideal for human life, and it only focuses on our actions. rather then taking the actions of other species into account.[/size']
No, it's a pure fact. While we are not so much as killing the Earth, we are physically changing the content of items of Earth. The sound of a passing train scares off two adult birds from their nests, and the eggs fall out from the sudden motion. The environment is then changed, however insignificantly, but enough to say that it happened. Like I said before, we have no power to destroy the planet, but we can affect it.
The most environmental damage ever committed by a species was done by a prehistoric species of plankton that excreted a poisonous, corrosive gas into the atmosphere, permanently altering Earth's ecological makeup. That gas was oxygen. Interesting, neh?
Yes, oxygen, and the scientific term is "metabolic poison." So, yes, people, we are slowly killing ourselves by inhaling an otherwise deadly gas. But if we do not take in oxygen [and nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon, etc.], we die. Crappy situation, eh? :D PS It was a very simple version of algae that first released oxygen during cellular respiration and all that crap. The Krebs Cycle and that **** I forgot from Biology. =X
I know humans aren't the be all and end all. I never claimed they were. But ending the Earth's lifespan is a ridiculous subject, if taken without saying that the end of life on Earth is probably the main subject at hand here. The end of human, sentient life anyway.
Of course it's ridiculous. But there are people stupid enough to believe that someone can send a nuke to the core of the planet and blow it up from the inside out. [To that point, you foolish few that believe this, first of all, the core of the Earth would melt any radioactive core or lead casing that would protect a little hydrogen atom. Also, the sheer magnetic force would not only fry any onboard detonation computer system, but it would crush the bomb to the size of a skin cell with the density of an oil tanker.]

Again, we have conflicting opinions. While you wish to leave your problems behind, I say burn them all down and piss on the ashes. But I will allow for artistic freedom in this case. Haha. I do like the last couplet, though. Turns the meaning around. Goes from a tattered and torn depressed sense to a more willful and demanding pose of revenge. May not be what you were aiming for, but I like the way I make it sound. =X

And by Earth ending, it is obviously not referring to the disintegration of the entire planet into smithereens, but the time where we cause so much damage to it and to ourselves that most of the population dies. Duh.
It's that obvious? Gee, I assume by the phrase "the end of the world" that means that all life on Earth vaporizes and the planet no longer exist. There is a very distinct difference between the end of the world and the end of life, Baron. *stabstabstab*
I love this talk of ozone destruction and the using of natural resources. The gigantic hole in the ozone is shrinking, and was found in the mid 70's (so we saw how friggin huge it was in the first place, instead of it "growing"). There are more trees in the United States today than in 1900 AD. If we use up all of the earth's Oil, so what? We have to (and will) develop alternate energy means and the Mideast will lose their trump card. The endangered species list? A tiny fraction of those species are mammals, larger creatures that have to do with anything. Instead, our donations go to save some sort of crustacean or insect (which make up over 70% of the list, last time I checked).
I'm glad you brought up endangered species. Throughout the history of Earth, more than ninety-nine percent of all organisms have died out over time. And we still cling to some hundred-odd of them because we ourselves caused their destruction. Which brings around my next point...
The world's going to outlast us unless we surgically annihilated the entire surface, and somehow made entire oceans un-inhabitable.
Even then, by the time we COMPLETELY eradicate the surface and poison the seas, lifeforms will adapt. Viral "pests", essential links to all life, though deadly to a lot of organisms, would surface, change minutely in mRNA and DNA structures, and short of the entire Earth freezing to absolute zero, we would not be able to stop that. Same for in the oceans. Adaptation. Survival of the fittest. Those that can resist change will make it to the next day. Those that cannot will be the food of the ones that can.
Really? Consider this: In nature, everything has a balance, something required to maintain it's survival and be maintained. Even the highest planes of the food chains fail to run rampant because of defense mechanisms in their prey. (Lions, even if they wanted to , could not destroy the gazelle population). Humans are different. We are the single species on earth that has no evolutionary check and balance. We could theoretically engineer the destruction of anything we please, species or whatnot. Now, I doubt we'd be able to engineer the destruction of our entire planet... still. We are unique in that respect.
Which is also why we will be the makers of our own doom. We are too unstable to maintain any type of firm balance with our settings, as shown that we change everything when we migrate to a new area. Our species, being united, will soon cease due to a lack of innovation. It's a behavior problem and I will not get into a chaos theory-spawned developmental quote. Just know that we, as a whole, are slowly undergoing a form of cultural apoptosis.

VERY nicely said, DeathBug. I've always wondered where most people got the idea that we, mere sprinkles of genetic crap, have the power to blow up an entire planet. Hell, the most dangerous thing that the world has to worry about is something the size of Pluto ramming straight into it. We, on the other hand, are nothings. Don't feed me all this crap about nuclear war and global warming and this and that; it's a threat to US, not the world. This planet has been around for four and a half billion years. Please, everyone, try to wrap your brains around a million years, much less a billion, or four more billion. It's unfathomable. We, as recognizable human beings, have been around for maybe ten thousand years as we stand now. And we, in fact, are just creatures of circumstances. Some monkey in Africa was walking on the ground and couldn't see over the grass, and got eaten by a lion. Another monkey saw this, had the wonderful idea of standing straight up, and boom. Evolution kicked in. This radical new thought promoted brain growth, and with more and more ideas, body structures began to change, and, after about a million years since that innovative motion, we find ourselves today. Look at everything we do. We burn fossil fuels that later eat holes in the ozone layer, letting more UV light in. We all get skin cancer and die. Plants, however, flourish because UV light is healthy for developmental growth in almost all cellular actives. It warms the entire system up, reducing the need for enzymes to act as catalysts for chemical reactions. So plants photosynthesize more often and easier, and they get more nutrients because they no longer need to work as hard as to get the proper nourishment. More plants means more insects, who would also thrive on more UV. More insects, more lower-class carnivores. And so on. And all the while we are gone. You seem to think the "ending" of the world will be in our hands. No. We will be our own end, eventually, but the earth will survive us. It has, in the span of it's life, been struck by outer space debris, the constant eruptions of lava flows, the shift of entire continents, violent upheavals of mountains and disastrous erosions of valleys. Seas have flowed and ebbed, and entire races of animals have been wiped out. All over the courses of billions of years. We are just a blink of the eye to Earth. We are nothing in comparison. To say that any human can destroy the world is completely and totally moronic.
*giggles* Well Chaos, is my fault for wanting to be his friend? No I don't think so.
But yet when he wants to return that friendship you complain on an online forum.
*giggles* *giggles*
I don't think I'm liking you very much :) *giggles*[/SPOILER']
Like I give a flying ****. Your opinion of me has no bearing whatsoever. Kindly grow up. I'm offering you sound advice, but you seem to want an easier way out. Whatever.
Anyway, I agree that it was my fault for not saying "no" right away, but I did after awhile. I just said "no, I don't want too, but thanks anyway."
If somebody is "bullying" you based on religion, ethnic background, or sexual orientation then I'd say it goes beyond simply bullying. This would be a case of sombody with a previously bad experience or only knows of a sterotype (or in some cases just their parent's programming of the person) who develops a prejudice towards some group of people going up to one such person, and unfairly discriminates against this person because of their religion, ethnic background or sexual orientation.
I obviously read the post you were addressing because I quoted it. Dur. I understand WHAT you are saying, but it's faulted. Bullying does not cross over into a hate-crime; they are two seperate things. There is bullying; shoving someone around, making fun of them, and trying to exploit them for gain, be it mental or physical. There is hate; where you harm someone to a great extent, and openly admit, that you did it for discriminatory measures. A guy beating up another guy because he doesn't like the way he looked at him is bullying. Jumping a guy with six other dudes because he is black and breaking ribs, arms, etc. in the process is a hate crime. If you're a fan of South Park, I suggest you look at the episode where Cartman hits Token. Wonderful example of how incredibly stupid people can be regarding those types of situations.
You seem to have this really ****ed up view on discrimination and think it's limited to the very social extremes. That is quite false. Although those types of things are a lot more drastic and require much quicker action, there is still tons of discrimination outside of them. If someone is "bullying" (and I put it in quotations because it really is more along the lines of discriminaion) on someone else because of a sterotype, then this person is really messed up. The "bully" is not just bored, but is down right idiotic and rude. Showing respect and tolerating each others non-changable differences is the only way society can get along and advance further. If these scabs on society keep going around breaking these rules then I'd say they're a big problem.
Yes. All of my views are ****** the Hell up. Thank you for your input. My views are not limited. They're real truths. Say a black kid beats up a white kid. Is it because the white kid called him a slur? Is it because the black kid doesn't like white people? Maybe. Is it because the white kid said something about the black kid's mom? Is it because the black kid wanted to steal something? Is it because the black kid was trying to get something back? Maybe. My point being: Racial issues and ethically issues are not as widespread as you see on Law and Order and all of that ****. Yes, they happen. Yes, they are controvercal. Yes, they can get ugly. But every case should not be treated like one. Another prime example; let's use Chibi's. Say I buy some clothes from Goodwill and some clothes from Hot Topic. You make fun of me for wearing used and resold clothing. Does that make it a discriminatory issue? No. It is a simple outlet used by you to attempt to degrade me. When I wear new clothing from Hot Topic, can you then call me poor? A loser? No, because Hot Topic is over-priced and over-rated. Which is another rant. Forgive the sidetracking. "Showing respect and tolerating each others non-changable differences is the only way society can get along and advance further." You think so? It's idealistic, I'll agree, but not practical. Because, eventually, someone is going to do something you do not agree with. And, also, according to that, you'd have to respect and tolerate the likes of Hitler, Charles Manson, etc. No, I think not. I'd rather not live in a world saluting Mein Furher with one hand and waving goodbye to hookers with the other. The most simplistic idea would work best; everyone minds his own ******* business. Keep opinions to yourself and friends. Granted, it goes against everything the human mind is built for, but we would survive within themselves. It's as simple as not caring if a gay couple gets married. Not caring if someone is black, white, red, orange, green, whatever. Not caring if someone dislikes your clothes. Hell, you shouldn't even care about someone else's clothing. Yes, you may still communicate and have a good time and all, just don't be ******* ignorant. You can say a lot more by staying silent in some cases. "But the only way to continue life fairly as a society we have to learn to accept other types of people. Only then with the stupidity of preeching equality then turning around and asking for something totally unfair stop." A nobel idea. An impossible one, but nobel. I have to ask though, if preeching and practicing equality is stupid, what right have you to even discuss moral issues? Granted, I don't agree with an apologetic memorial dedicated to slaves who've been dead for over a hundred years, nor do I think we need to, for example, pay for grievences of any sort caused in the distant past, but with that quote of itself, that seems a little segregational. I know what you're saying, but it just caught my eye as odd. As for accepting everyone for whom they are, regard to paragraph above retaining the responce to the prior.
It's amazing what people will say when they've never been put into these kinds of situations. Yes, some people are weak. I'd say having to constantly rag on someone because of how they look is a pretty big weakness and if I had my way we'd just kill off the bullies. How's that sound? But think of it this way. First there's name calling, then it escalates to physical violence. Or some really fun death threats and the school faculty refusing to do anything about it because 'The student [victim] brought it upon himself or herself.' You've got to admit that there is only so much an average person could take before losing it. Either they go on a shooting rampage or they shoot themselves. If the abuse goes on unchecked for a few years some people are likely to just give up. I think it's kind of harsh to be glad that someone killed themself. You may as well say that it's the person's fault that they attended the same school as the bully. And to clarify my other views on unchangeable circumstances. Harrassment and hate crimes are a form of bullying. It doesn't have to happen in school to be considered bullying.
You assume I've never known someone who has commited suicide? Or tried to? How naive. I've been in the company of death for a while; I've personally seen someone kill themself, I've personally prevented friends from killing themselves, and I've personally been to funerals of people who have killed themselves. And yes, some were from mental/physical abuse. I know what I'm talking about, and yes, I stick to the term that the world is better off without them. The bullies that "have to constantly rag" on people are weak as well. The ones that do it for fun or for a purpose, though, are part of the American dream. Killing them all serves a backwards purpose in the most golden route that can come from taunting. Like I said, if someone can't stick up for themselves or seek real help after having their *** whooped, then they deserve whatever they get. Instead of crying in your room and writing drafts for your suicide note, go out and do something. Either a) get someone to help/train you, b) ask help from a friend or family memeber, or c) grow some balls and stand up to whomever is doing all of this. The few cases, and, yes, face it, there are few, that result in gun rampages are by the ones who are too stupid to do anything else. I'll admit I've thought about killing people. I'll even admit that I enjoy these thoughts. But I will tell you that unless my life depends on it, I won't be killing someone who is trying to bring me down. It's utter stupidity otherwise. Darwinism presents itself here. Those that kill themselves often do not live long enough to pass on their genes, ensuring the survival of the ones who overcame. The strong outlast the weak. Even in abundance of infidelity, because the strong adapt and the weak put a bullet in their mouth. Simple. And yes, bullying takes place outside of schools, but not in such flagrancy. Because people have generally grown up and -- surprise, surprise -- adapted.
A LOT of people kill themselves over something so small. Heck some people do suicide when they fail in school, when they get heart breaks, and a lot more simple and stupid reasons. It does not justify that they are weak and even if they are, no one but God would know if it is entirely their fault and that does not justify that the weak should not be given the privilege to walk the face of the earth. God chooses who lives and from what I know God gives people, weak or strong, the chance to live. The "Strong shall live and the weak should perish" attitude of yours really makes the world not a better place to live in. God made each person different. Weak people do exist! It is reality that some people are unlucky to not be taught how to be strong. :nono:
Yes, it does justify that they are weak. If they were strong, they would get over or pass the problem. A weak person succumbs; a strong person conquers. If you want to bring God in this, know that, then, God does not dictate us, because of free will. It's in the Bible that God is a pacifist lord and has sworn not to interfere with humankind again after the great flood. Please, leave the religion at the door. It has no purpose in any form of life. I make the world a not a better place to live in because of realist views? Pfft. Enlightenment starts with disregarding all idealistic views, friend. You make a good point that "It is reality that some people are unlucky to not be taught how to be strong." Sadly, it's a good point for me. You just admitted that not only are people taught to be strong and those that are not are left behind, but you also contridicted that even though God makes us us, we can still be changed, tossing aside the notion of "Fate."
Well I say you're wrong, because what you just said is a load of horse ****, and that's a fact. I'd go on a long, pastoral rant, but given that it seems OK to make a blunt, opinionated, unsupported "fact" and leave it that way, I don't think I will.
Very well; point and case. In Africa, before the malaria vaccinations, thousands died at the hands of tiny insects. After a while, being saturated in the virus, certain genetic lines began to fade out, while others meanwhile buffered themselves against the tiny strands of DNA and mRNA. The virus continued, claiming less lives by the generation, until the former strong were overtaken by a new, even more resistant bloodline of humans. The weak were weeded out and the strong prevailed to pass on their lineage. Similarly, the weak-minded only see the world for torment and abuse and kill themselves, and others in the process sometimes, in a means to escape it like a coward. Inversely, the strong-minded take what they have and mold themselves to fit lock-and-key into life. And they are the ones who produce young and continue the ebb and flow of life. There. A brief message in Applied Darwinism. Please, feel free to prove me and billions of years of evolution wrong.
In conclusion. Yes, I came out okay from being bullied through most of school. But that doesn't mean that everyone can not be affected by being bullied. I know of people who commited suicide over less than what I went through and have friends who would rather just skip school than put up with the crap they went through. So maybe bullying shouldn't be considered a type of growth.
If someone kills themselves over something so small, then they are too weak-minded to even have been born. The world is a better place without them. And yes, I have no shame. I say this because it is a fact. I would go in to a long Darwinism rant, but I've made my point. I'd say some bullying shouldn't be considered a type of growth. I'm willing to agree with that. Obviously, getting beat up and having your schoolbag thrown into a dumpster isn't going to instantly make you CEO of a company. However, if you learn from your "mistakes", you will become more assertive and steel-minded. Meaning, the next time the bully tries to mess with you, you kick the **** out of his nuts and stomp on his face while making some random insult about his mother and three animals. [Fun story is that I've seen that happen. Eight year old kick whipped the Hell out of a twelver year old. I wish I had it on tape.]
ChibiHorsewoman: Well what I'd like to know is why you're still considering that bullying, and not more along the lines of prejudices leading to discrimination and just plain old abuse? When do we cross the line from whats considered bullying and whats considered those two things? In the case of what you're offering in that post, I'd say that goes well beyond the realms of bullying and more into discrimination. In this case, you shouldn't tell your principal that you've been bullied, but that you've been deiscriminated against because of your ethnic or racial background. That will prompt him/her to do something about it. I'd also suggest telling a type of community leader in your race or ethnic background about the discrimination and trying to get their advice, and see if they any type of group can try to take action on this type of thing.
Please, stop your hippie conservative rant. There is a fine line between abuse and bullying. If it was some racial issue or ethnically-driven dislike, don't you think they'd be doing something more than making fat jokes? God almighty, when did everything turn into "race" this and "race" that? Lawfully, it's abuse when it mentally scars and phsyically incapacitates you. Other than that, it is settled out of court. Usually in class when the teacher steps out. People are too quick to throw around controversal issues when they are not needed. You are a fine example of someone who has not learned much from REAL life. How old are you? Fourteen? Fifteen? And you don't know now that people don't one day up and say "You know, I don't like you because you buy clothes from WalMart,"? Bullies are bullies for two reasons: 1)They enjoy doing it, or 2) They are bored. Racial and ethnical "hate-crimes" comes when **** happens after school with someone burning a cross on your front lawn or throwing a brick in your window with a note taped on it saying "Go back to your caves, cameljockies." Bullying in the school environment usually takes place because a person generally does not like a person for a reason. I don't go up to random Freshmen and shove them into a locker face-first. I do that to the smartass ones that talk ****. Please, grow up everyone. The world doesn't feed controvercy; overactive mouths do.
I don't like him that way. He is nice, but as a friend. An' I was thinking of the last day of school. I wanted it to be done and over with. I ALWAYS JOKE AROUND WITH MY FRIENDS AND I ALWAYS SAY THAT!!!!  :flaming: :flaming: Cooling down....I'm okay now. I am his FRIEND, but I know he want's to be more then that. Trust me. Okay, I do blame myself for some things. Like not saying no right away. BUT, I don't blame myself for wanting to be his FRIEND. Now I'm not in the happiest of moods, and after reading your post just now, I'm not that much happier. So, thank you very much. :D
You have no one but yourself to blame for leading him on, though. It's your own fault for not owning up and telling him you didn't like him like that. You're at fault here; you jerked him around on a lead. Stop complaining and be honest. And since you were not serious, that would, obviously, mean you are not conceited. So that has no context whatsoever. Please, use common sense next time and stop bitching.

If you're so bothered about it, are you sure you don't like him? That last part about "thinking of the last day at school" is really vague. Do you mean so that you'll be away from him for the summer? You couldn't get it out of your head all day? Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. You made a comment about blinding beauty earlier, and I don't know if you're being sarcastic or serious [I'm stuck in the middle of either because not a lot of girls would say that because of 1) on the sarcastic side, there wasn't much feeling in it, but 2) if you were serious, that would mean you're really, really conceited.], so I can't help but wonder if you shouldn't be used to it. And even still, has the thought of actually becoming his friend crossed your mind? Perhaps that's all he wants. Not likely, but possibly. My overall advice follows somewhat with Charlie's; blame yourself, and then be open with him. The world is all about respect. If you can tell someone the plain and simple truth and still appreciate what someone has done for you, then there is nothing wrong.

Don't take this as an assault, Chibi, because I know that you know what you're talking about [examples are your friends, all of you future
MASTER
debaters.], but I just feel the urge to address some things. "Bullying sucks in any form. But have you ever wondered why the bullies do it? **** by my Junior year of high school I actually felt sorry for the girl who followed me into the bathroom with three of her friends to threaten me and call me a lesbian (yes, I'm a closet lesbian. my marriage to a guy just proves how lesbian I am) because for all her popularity, she could never actually feel happy unless she was making others feel bad about themselves. Her choice just had to be me, the over weight out cast girl who honestly didn't give 2 ****s about her. Actually it inspired me to learn a bit about psychology. I think most people bully because they have such a low self esteem they will never be happy unless they feel that everyone around them is miserable. Then there are the ones who get a sick thrill out of feeling more powerful by bringing everyone down. After all this, I now think that that girl was the one who needed paxil and weekly visits to the school psychologist not me." Indirectly, bullying can build a strong will. If you let it. Obviously, this exploit from your high school did not affect you in so many ways. In fact, you persued a well-respected and beneficial study because of it. How can you say bullying sucks? Yes, there can and have been drastically horrid outcomes, but there have also been many triumphant ones. The low self-esteem thing about bullies is a thing of the past. Now, and recently in the past, people used fear tactics to gain ground on another person. Trust me, I know. I used to do it. Hell, still do sometimes. And I have no serious mental defects aside from the fact that I'm obscenely morbid. It helps to accept what you do in life if you understand the basic truth of the world; You are born, you live, you die. That's it. The laws of survival are the only things that are constant in life. "Of course, not everyone is thick skinned and considers being chased into a bathroom and having her life threatened to be an enlightening experiance. Those people who are constantly bullied can become either suicidal or homicidal. neither of these is an extremely desirable trait. This proves that bullying is not a helpful learning tool, but instead detrimental to a person's mental growth. If the situation is not addressed properly (Ie: not gathering someone's math class together so they can all say how much they hate a person because some stupid teacher thinks that this could help ease tensions. Oh yeah, that happened to me when I was a Sophomore. One of the kids said that he thought I seemed too smart and that's why he was rude to me) there could be some pretty dire consequences at the end." That statement about people that are constantly bullied is very general, and quite frankly, uneducated. You yourself provided a great example AGAINST that in your first paragraph. However, I will agree, that unchecked, some of the time bullied persons have a risk of becoming either suicidal or homicidal. However, it is becoming so much clearer that children need more backing these days. School shootings have been accouring more widely in past years, and so have underaged murders. [And I swear, if someone blames it on video games, I'll feed you to ants for being so ignorant.] It is not a situation to be taken lightly. "But there is a point that wrist cutter made. Most of this bullying happens in high school. High school (at least in the US) only lasts for four years. Sure they may feel like the longest four years of your life, but after that you never have to go back there again. Yeah there is always the chance of being bullied on the job by some moron who didn't quite get the idea that they're in the real world now. But if he persists there's always the great American past time of a law suite for harrassment to deture any further abuse on your person." Actually, in a lot of areas, bullying is taking place more in middle school and junior high nowadays, at least here. It seems that like over the summer between eighth grade and ninth, kids are a) injected with growth hormones and b) instantly matured into young adults for the most part. The new thing in high school is to have a soap opera-like drama instead of a life. I would get into details, but several friends would come after me with knives. I personally am enjoying my [strike]four[/strike] five years of high school so far. I've made a lot of great friends and kept a lot of old ones. I do suppose my reputation and physical stature [since I'm not a gimpy fool like I was in grammar school] prevent a lot of trouble, but even from what I see, everyone just tries to get by on their own. Sometimes I wish I could just keep this up forever and not have to worry about the real world. Afterall, these are the best days of my life. Right? "In conclusion, that stupid rhyme about sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me is wrong. Because words can hurt." Only if you let them. If you allow what some peon thinks of you actually harm and negatively influence you, then perhaps you deserve to be pushed around. Humans have system of free will for a specific reason; to rise up and conquer whatever stands in our way. P.S.: If you are offended by my realist views, please grow up. *winks at Charlie*

SIDENOTE: And that brings us to another point: Why do people hate Adolph Hitler so much? Because he inspired an international movement of racial and spiritual segregation? Because he committed mass acts of genocide? Because he not only approved and endorsed of, but also committed war and hate crimes personally? Gee, that's not at all like what the Americans, for example, a country of traitors, did to the Indians [P.C. Native Americans] or the Spaniards, or the Cajuns, or the Creoles, or the Mexicans. Please, leave your narrow-minded angst at the door. Just because you don't like a man for his actions doesn't mean he cannot be referenced. Nor must others refrain from mentioning him, especially when one is being harassed for exposing his personal beliefs. I don't care if you're a Jew, a German, a gypsy, whatever. Native American, Latino, what-the-hell-ever. I am several of what I mentioned prior and I don't find it offensive when someone references an autobiography about a man who lived in poverty, fought in war, and was imprisoned under grueling circumstances. No, I'm not defending Adolph Hitler. Nor am I directly condemning him for his crimes, due to the fact that they have happened time, time, and time again in human history. If you're going to take offense to something, let it be for someone actually doing something TO you, not for typing out a simile. Now, onto the point, bullying is common. Worldwide. And yes, it does build character. The reason all of these lightweight little snot-nosed brats today have "developmental issues" and "learning disabilities" and "insecurity patterns" is because they have no structure. Parents today want to give a child time-out for cursing or being smart-mouthed. I was disciplined as a child. My parents told me to shut up, popped me upside the head, and MADE me behave. And they never, ever beat me. There is a fine difference between bringing up a child into maturity and beating it with a shovel. The problem nowadays is the context in which bullying is transmitted. It's no longer a big eighth grader shoving a fifth grader up against a locker and demanding milk money; it's a guy getting jumped by five dudes with pipes and chains. The world, as a whole, has gone to Hell in a handbasket. Families are getting bigger, mothers are getting younger. STDs are a constant threat, crime is, in most areas of the world, escalating, and moral issues are being thrown down the toilet. We have hate crimes, racial bigotry, and the political world is intruding into home life. Do you know the worst part? It's been happening since the dawn of human history. The worst type of bullying is the unspoken disrespect that parents give kids by not teaching them to mature into strong-willed and well-disciplined individuals. That leads to physical and mental abuse from other children and adults. The stereotypical bully seeks out the weak, and such, without proper backing, the parents are to blame. I'd like to quote the Indian saying; "We do not inherit the Earth from our parents; we loan them from our children." Without a sturdy upbringing, we are doomed to a cycle of worsening quality in the world. If our parents would enforce us more as children, we would be more respectable in our lifestyles. But, as humans, we do not seek the best way. We seek the easiest way, and that, eventually, will spell our demise.

Please. You have two options here. 1) Be a manly gay person. 2) Be a ***** like Greg in that stupid-*** show. Who the Hell cares what your parents think? I sure don't, and you shouldn't. Respect them, but you don't have to listen. I won't say anything about the ideals of "You're gay from birth and it's not a choice", but instead tell you that what others think just don't matter. You can hear what they have to say, but you don't have to listen. It's up to you to decide who you are and how you are who you are. If you want to tell everyone you are gay next year, then go ahead. Tell them. Just be who you feel you are. That's all that matters. P.S. to all of you wrist cutter haters: You're just jealous you don't have as much wit. EDIT: Undefeated, stop trying to sound smart.
All right, let's poke some holes in your argument. 1: Lugia is Flying/Psychic. This means that your flying-but-not-flying type point is incorrect. 2: Movesets have nothing to do with your argument. Many Water Pokemon learn Water Gun, Bubble, etc. Thundershock, Thunderbolt, and Thunder Wave can be learned by many Electric Pokemon. Thunderbolt can even be learned by Dark-type Absol, which, by the way, can get a move learnable by several Pyschic Pokemon, Future Sight(sp?). Most lying Pokemon can learn Fly. None of that means anything except that there's an overlap of moves. This overlap is because there's no reason to give every Pokemon unique moves, not because these Pokemon are related. 3: Appearance does not indicate relation. Case in point: Plusle/Minun and Pichu. Plusle and Minun look a lot like Pichu, but there's no relation between Plusle/Minun and Pichu. 4: Names also have nothing to do with relation. Case in point: Spheal and Seel. Similar names (both based on the word "seal", by the way), but there's no relation between them. 5: Let me name a few legendary Pokemon: Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Moltres, Suicune, Groudon. Those are all legendary Pokemon, but none of them are related. 6: Latias and Latios have known orgins(sp?). If you see the Pokemon Heroes movie (now avalible on VHS and DVD), you'll learn what their orgins are.
I just have to mention to the point of number 5 that that statement is a bit off. Mew is related to all Pokemon since all others were cut from Mew's mold, so to speak.

This is a simple start, teh Shinneh. I wouldn't concern over such details. But, like Shinmaru said, Kai, it's a nice start. I don't really have a problem with the lax description [I'm not expecting you to go all out on an introduction for a story], but the random spelling errors hold a different torch, though. I mean, it's simple stuff, but you know. Nip it in the bud. Use Word like you should. :P [You might wanna think about adding translations in. >_>]

Greg, I do believe the meaning of the red x is that it IS his banner. In which case, it is a somewhat old idea. And the person in your avatar, Godelsensei, should be renamed to "Toomanysundae", but eh. That's just my attempt at a bad joke. The use of noise gives it a bit of a rave look. But I suppose that is the purpose?
