Ah, Sean Paul, one song springs to mind, "Like Glue". That has to be hands down, the most horrendous song I've ever heard. There is nothing I'd like more than to have that song permantently erased from my memory somehow.
Hahaha, I like your opinion. The songs you dislike deserve to be erased from your memory. So, I assume you don't like this genre. Well, anyways, the thing that sucks about some of his songs, is that it's about weed!! We be burnin' is about weed! That's what annoys me. But, I'll check out his new album. Hopefully there's songs on it not about weed.
Summer camp really does bring out the inner deamons of some of the most patient, kind people. I didn't think much of it when I applied to work at a six week residential all girl camp. I'd say it gave me much more patience and grace when it came to working with smaller children (the older ones are an entirely different matter). I would definitely say that it was a life lesson that I should do well to never forget, or even think the things I wanted to do to those brats...
My sister works at a Summer Camp. Whenever she calls home, you can hear her yelling at the kids, and her voice now sounds like a boy going through puberty! At work, I had seen so many kids act up! I swear that there was this 4 year old at work, who had a tantrum for like 20+ minutes! I to my co-worker, if that was my kid, they would of got a smack longtime! She agreed. Well, anyways, back on topic, I do have to use that kind voice when I talk to kids. I have to talk to them, in simple English. Can't use big words or else they'll ask a million of questions. Just like my cousins. I usually, have to make them food, after day camp (my brother is the one that makes them watch tv or play Nintendo.) They are ten and they asked me "How is it like being a teen?" then I have to say in my nicest voice that being a teen is ok. When, I could of just got disgruntled and tamatized them about the trials of being a teen in today's society. I always give 'em a short answer though because there's always many more questions to come. But, you know what always works, if you smile and say "Now, who wants ice-cream!" When you want a break. Now, other people's kids who aren't family, sometimes I want to snap on some of them for being so rude and demanding. Expessially with their parents right behind them. And I have to be all nice when I want to yell at them! It's like the parent's don't even teach their bratty punk kids any manners. :animeangr No ice-cream for them! And they can be so manipulative! But, it's hard not to give into their demands because then they won't leave you alone! They want to send you to an insane asylum!! It's their plot to destroy! I better stop typing before I get into a deeper rant. But, I think it's the funniest thing, when you use a voice that you use on a child, on an adult! I did that once or twice ;)

One of my sisters is obsessed with Sean Paul. We even went to his concert one year. Who is this Sean Paul? Well, for those who don't know, he is a dancehall singer from Jamaica. He sung hits like 'Gimme the light', 'Like Glue,' 'Get Busy' and 'I'm still in love with you ft Sasha.' He disapeared for awhile because he was in Africa or something. But, now he's back! :D His newest video is 'We be Burnin.' So I was wondering if they're are any other Sean Paul fans here. What songs are your favorites and do you like his new video? My favorite song would be "Get Busy." I like it because the video was filmed in Brampton(the city right beside mine), I love the little boy dancing in it, the good beat, and the part with the older guy saying "Stop Banging on the Furnace." :animesmil He reminds me of my dad. But 'We be Burnin' is going to be a hit! Well, where I'm from anyways. :animeswea You can watch some of his videos here and his newest video is here but the quality is a little bad

Gwen Stefani- What was she thinking!?
celestialcharm replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
Every one of her songs is "Harajuku" this and has her japanese backup dancers... It's anoying after a while.. (We get it... You have a thing for the japanese, but... GIVE IT A REST)
I know!! That's the thing that annoys me about her songs. I'm surprised 'Cool' doesn't mention Harajuku girls. One of my friends thinks that Gwen went to Japan and enslaved the Harajuku girls she has under contract. :animesmil -
Gwen Stefani- What was she thinking!?
celestialcharm replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
She's a great artist. She's extremely versatile, succeeding in nearly every genre of music she touches. She's not going to go away any time soon -- she used a song from Fiddler on the Roof, and melded that into a pop song. How good is that? "If I Were a Rich Girl" takes a few notes from "If I Were a Rich Man" from Fiddler. A Jewish musical, and she used it. That's innovation there.
Actually, someone else sung "Rich Girl" before Gwen. I think it was Lady Saw and someone else. But, they called it "If I was a Rich Girl" All I remember is that if was a reggae song. But Gwen changed the song. I like always liked Gwen. The new Gwen's alright. She may be a little obsessed with Harajuku girls and such, but her songs are catchy. :animeswea But, what I want to know is why is she on a diet?! She doesn't need one! And is No Doubt officially broken up, now that she's solo? Or are they gonna pull a Destiny's Child and come back together to break up again? :animesigh -
Lest we forget. Long live Reboot.
Haha! I remember Reboot. I think it still plays on YTV, which is kind of annoying... Good show for it's time though. I remember someone in my class who was obsessed with that show. Ah, the memories and the drama. But, I agree with Aiyisha, the last season was crazy!
:animeangr Who else is completly anoyed by Lore Team Leader of Team Koizumi??? I hate how she thinks that she know every thing!!! its the most childest act i have ever seen. Almost evert thread i read.... there she is trying to (SAVE THE WORLD ONE THREAD AT A TIME)!!!! So tell me if im wrong but... HEY LORE SHUT UP AND START YOUR OWN SITE IF YOU DONT LIKE IT!!!!!!! :p
I think this thread is a bit childish. Making a thread just to bash someone? Lore is a team leader and she is here to enforce the rules. But, in my opinion you seem a bit jealous... -
Like, I wouldn't have any idea of traditional Canadian stuff. Canada's kind of a cold, obscure nation, north of America, where I go when Bush instates the draft. That's (mostly) all I know.
I warn you, don't come to Canada in the Summer!!! It's too hot!!
Yes, I don't live in the US (Although I know a great deal about it, I don't think you realize just how invasive the US media is over here) but my point was that the US has prfoundly, in recent years, screwed over my country. I was just responding to all the good things that the US sterotypically does with all the bad things that it... well, actualy has done. It was probably out of place, but I often can't contain myself when I here things like that without anything bad... It just makes me feel, well, sick. BTW, Canada is more or less like the US, but instead of Baseball you've got Hockey, instead of trhe pledge of alligence you've got O Canada and The Maple Leaf Forever, and Canada Day is even in the same week as the 4th of July, although it's really just an excuse to get into a drunken Hockey Riot... caugh... and burn things.
If my mom heard you say that about Canada Day, she might have to hurt you. But, I thought Canada Day was an excuse to buy fireworks to shoot at people. How come Canadian's and American's always have to rant or whatever? Why can't we all just get along? Well anyways, Age is something that doesn't matter, unless you are a cheese.-Billie Burke This reminds me of Maury(My sis always is watching this stuff.) There was a girl who was "29 or something" and she looked like she was 6. She was dating a 30 year old. But, I bet that was a scam because she said "They do grown-up things together." Now, what grown person says that?! Feel sorry for maga dog, maga dog come bite you This is some old West Indian saying, that if you feel sorry for the skrawny dog, and feed it, it's going to turn on you. BUT, it's basically saying that if you feel sorry for someone, they are going to turn on you. This is true with the world we live in today. It's hard to be trusting. and The purpose of a writer is to keep civilization from destroying itself.-Albert Camus -
I went to the SARS concert in Toronto! That was my first concert ever! It was really fun. I barely remembered who played though. But, it was good except for the fact that we were practically swimming in garbage. Sean Paul- I went with my sister, her best friend and my best friend. He was good live. I never smelled so much weed in my life. That smell lasted with me for days!

I suscribed to it, but I have about 2-4 weeks before it comes! I love shojo manga, so I hope it's a good magazine!
I don't understand how people can't swim... Is it a pschological thing? It should come natural to human beings, at least being able to float anyway. I'm just asking a question here, what is it about swimming that some people find difficult? (This is aimed generally at people who, well, can't swim.)
I think for some people it may be psycological because they might of nearly drowned. But for me, as I said before, I can float, but I have a hard time paddling because it uses too much of my energy. Swimming is just too exhausting! But, I think I could swim with some exercise. It's kind of funny, because the doctor told me I'm sapossed to exercise anyways :animeswea
I'm from Scandinavia and I can say that it quite likely isn't a Scandinavian name. See, none of the languages used here (Swedish, Norwegian, Danish or Finnish) use the end -ie. I'm no linguistic, but I think it might be more of a Scottish/Irish name, or possibly even plain British. I'm not saying this to offend you in any way, I just think it's fun to guess where different names originate from. :)
I didn't take any offense! I also remebered that at my yearly check up, the nurse who was English said that her sister's boyfriend or something had the same last name! So maybe it's English? One day I will find out :D
Well Harney and O'Harney are definitely Irish names, though O'Harney is much less common than Harney as a surname. The name itself comes from County Kerry and means "descended from the father". Many Irish surnames and Christian names have become anglicised as Irish was phased out as the primary language many decades ago.
That's very intreasting! I would of never known what it meant. Thanks now I can look smart in front of my mom's aunts. Maybe I can get money out of it :smirk:

Downloading: For or against it?
celestialcharm replied to kayutori_sama's topic in General Discussion
Ya, downloading is wrong. Ya, it's going to eventually send the world of the media down the drain. And ya, I'm addicted to free stuff. I'm so addicted that not even my 44.4k internet connection can stop me from downloading illegal stuff. It's like crack. You can't sniff just one! Or was that Lays? Bah, the point stands. Where I live you cant just go out and buy a new CD or Anime or any of that stuff, the only alternative is to download illegally or go without. I, unfortunatly, cannot go without.
I'm a freebie addict too! I hate to admit, but I do download! Well, I used to. The only reason I don't download anything is because I've been usuing my sisters laptop for the last few months, and if she ever found out that I downloaded anything on it, she'll kill me. I downloaded the whole 'Fruits Basket' series, because I couldn't afford it at the time. But, I am going to buy it! I don't really like watching any anime or tv series on the computer anymore because I would rather buy dvds. But, I do think it is kind of wrong. But, when I get my new computer, the only songs I would download are songs that I already have on cds. -
Aren't you not supposed to give your real name on the Internet? Oh well. Please don't rape me.
Haha, I forgot all about that! Whatever! Real name: Charlene Josephine Boddie. I like my name because it's fun to write and it ends in 'e.' My mom named me 'Charlene' from a pastor she used to always watch named 'Charles.' And I think she got 'Josephine' from a dream and her grandfather died two weeks before I was born. She wanted to go to the funeral (I just noticed funeral has 'fun' in it...) but, they said she was too far along to go on the plane. Nicknames: Char- This is usually used by my friends. I guess they're too lazy to say the second syllable. But, I like being called Char Char Char- I have no idea where this came from, but my friend that I knew from kindergarden still calls me this. Chaly- My dad calls me this and drops off the 'r' from my name because of his accent. I like his accent. Charls- My mom calls me this. I think it's cute except when she yelling at me from a different room to get something. Charlenie- People I knew from middle school call me this, because they made it up and I guess it just stuck. Online names: I only have a two. The first one is celestialcharm, I found celestial in the dictionary when I was making my website, and charm in the dictionary too. It means 'out of the sky trinket' or on that line. My second online name (I like everything in twos because that's my favorite number) is 'DigiChar.' I read the manga 'Digi Charat' and thought that I could nickname myself 'DigiChar' because of the Char in it. I thought that was so cool! It still is in my books

I love threads like this! Let me start with my father's side. Now his grandmother was born in Anguilla, but her parents were Scandinavian. She married my great-grandfather who was black. They had my grandma, making me 1/8th scandinavian. I think my grandma moved from Anguilla to another island, St.Kitts and married my grandfather. They had 8 children together and they broke up. I think my half uncles (Most west indian men back then had a secret family :animedepr ) are half caucausian, but I don't know. My mother is from Montserrat. Her side has east indian in it (one of my great-grandmothers or something). I think I'm 1/16th. Since her island was an Irish Isle in the Carribean, I'm assuming that I'm part Irish too. Also, I think I might have some Chinese in me too but, I'm not sure. I look black, with my brown skin (It's very mis-coloured though!) and kinky hair. But, with my family, my siblings and I have off brown hair. I have these foxy red-brown streaks (you can see the streaks in the sun) and one of my sisters has a head full of this weird brown hair that looks like she dyed it. Our eyes are the generic brown, but mine are lighter than their's. I think that's all, but then again you never know with my family!

I didn't even get to finish RE4! I rented it twice, and right now it's too expensive to buy. I would probably have to get my brother to buy it for me anyways. But, I am looking forward for RE5. Hopefully, they will have it for Revolution, because there is an unspoken rule about only buying Nintendo systems in my house. But, if it really is comming out by 2008-2010, then I will be able to by it myself! ;) I love this game though! I used to be one of those crazy girls, that scream every second when something comes out of nowhere, but now I can actually sit down and enjoy a game only screaming once every hour or so. I used to always keep pausing it alot too... :animeswea

I wrote an in-class-essay in my English class about anime and children. I called it "Should Children and Pre-teens watch anime" I got a B on it. Here's the first paragraph: "Firstly, most anime series are made for an older youth audience. Many types of situations can damage their young minds. The younger audience might pick up bad language and slander. Some of the words they use, might not be understood so they might ask somebody older and get corupted. Younger viewers might take things that are meant to be a joke literally, which would cause some confusion. They might see some anime characters as their 'hero/heroine' and take after their bad infulences. For example, in an anime series called 'Inuyasha,' there is a monk called Miroku who is always hitting on women. Quite recently, I read on an internet forum that Miroku is some boy's inspiration and now he's acting like Miroku. The Boy was only 10 years old!" Well, this is my opinion and remember that I did this in class! :animeswea

Let me start with my mom's maiden name, which is Harney. I think it's alright. I'm sure kids at school would of found a way to make fun of it though. I'm assuming it's irish, because my mom's island is the Emerald Isle of the caribbean(Montserrat). Also, on a documentary on the isle, it said that the slaves, had the name of their master's but later on they dropped the 'O' that would of been infront of it. Now, our last name, which is my dad's is very weird and strange. I think it might be scandinavian or something. I was made fun of alot as a child for having this, it is 'Boddie.' Not 'Boody' but pronounced like the human Body.' I remember people used to call me 'Charlene's Boddie.' I barely even remember all the ways they made fun of it but they just did. In my Spanish class this year, somebody that I knew from elementary called me that and I must of given him a very bad look.

Maybe most people are embaressed that they connot swim, but I'm not! Dude, I work at a waterpark...but, I cannot swim at all!!! :animeswea I can float, front float and backfloat, but I guess my parents never thought that it was important to put me in swimming lessons. But, if anything, I could get my brother's friend who's a lifegaurd to teach me...
Wouldn't be much of a Canadian if I didn't love hockey, eh? True to my nationality, I am a hockey FANATIC, I love everything about the game with the exception of the NHL, considering that, despite the end of the Lockout, they still plan on making drastic changes to make the game more apeasing to Americans (No offense, by the by) and that completely ruins it for me, and most Canadian fans. The CHL is my League of choice.
I don't like hockey, and I'm Canadian..... But, I think the irony of it is that I'm real good at hockey! I was always good at it. In gr.9, my gym teacher was surprised how good I was because I'm usually one of those people who don't do much. I also don't like sports because I hate exercise. Even though I'm really skinny (too skinny if you ask me) my doctor lectured me on how I need to exercise or at least pick up a sport. So, the sports I do are Archery and Dance. I like archery because it doesn't involve running. It took me awhile to be able to pull back and anchor the string though. Now, as I said before I hate exercise. But, the only type of exercise I would do is a dance workout. To me those are fun. I took dance class at my school. We learned many different types of dance and preformed in front of my school. So, in addition of taking gr 11 dance this year, I think I will take up bellydancing, hip hop or salsa classes. But, I think I need to take up a self defense class because I think I need some fighting skills.
