I've gone out of hiding and have been frolicking outdoors lately. It's amaaaaaazing, I've missed it so.
Indeed, I'm planning on doing quite a bit of that come spring quarter, since I'll be stuck at school hours before my first class due to certain circumstances. As long as the weather permits, anyway. Plus, it'll be good for my Pokewalker. 8D

I am very happy, for I have HeartGold now. x3 And I've had the chance to play it for a little over four hours now. I gotta say, I'm having way too much fun naming all these little critters. I've never actually done that in the past, nicknamed every single Pokemon I caught. It's been silly good fun. I can make tons of geeky references within a single game! 8D *pie'd*

It looks like one of those Super Smash Bros. trophy poses.

I started reading this manga called Tokage Ouji the other day, and boy is it weird. The title translates out to "lizard prince", and it's about a princess and a lizard falling in love. Yeah. Basically think of the princess and the frog story, and there you go. Very very odd, although the art is good. It's so short, only nine chapters, but I could only get through two before I had to stop for the day.

[OFFICIAL] Otakuboards Nifty Fifty 2009 Final(ly)

Heck yes to Des' screencaps. The banner made me literally lol. A lot of the banners were very amusing. Congrats to the nifty peeps/things~ -
I finished reading two manga series recently: Hot Gimmick and High School Debut. Both shoujo, but very different. In fact, I'd say it's good to read the latter if you start with the former, like I did. Hot Gimmick is pretty dramatic at times - although not nearly as dramatic as Hana Yori Dango - not to mention controversial since it's about a girl becoming a guy's "slave" and of course
the fact that she falls in love with him and chooses him at the end of the story
. I actually liked it, a lot. A little too much. But I can see where the controversy and hate comes from. And then there's High School Debut. It's, like, completely different. It's still about a girl falling in love with a guy (obviously; this is shoujo after all), but you could say the relationships are much healthier and realistic in this one. It was real refreshing to read this series, actually; like a nice summer breeze. It was quite cathartic actually, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's not afraid of shoujo.

I hate The Constant Gardener and having to subsequently write multiple essays for it. Damn you, World Lit.
I just pre-ordered Pokemon: Soul Silver I got lucky, too, since every place except my local Game Crazy had the Lugia Figurines out of stock. Even Amazon.
o rly 'Cause when I pre-ordered HeartGold from Amazon, they still had the Ho-oh figurine one available. Maybe SoulSilver is more popular?

Hmm... well, I guess for now this is most appropriate to post here. I'm still all giddy and fantardy over the dub, so I don't think I could make good, unbiased criticisms about it. I saw the first episode of FMA: Brotherhood way back when Funi started posting them online. But, frankly, the Japanese voices just were not the same. I fell in love with the first FMA via the dub, and clearly based on my reaction to last night's episode it's the dub that really does it for me. When I first saw this episode I thought it was kinda boring, but the familiar voices really enhanced my viewing pleasure. Also, may I just say how amazingly similar Al's new voice sounds to Aaron Dismuke's performance. There's a bit of a difference, but it does the job pretty well I'd say. Looking forward to having something to look forward to every week now! :D

Fandoms can sure get Fan Dumb sometimes. Pretty darn annoying, especially if you're a moderator at a fan specific site and you have to deal with the drama somehow.
I've yet to see any LPs that were actually entertaining, not counting Retsupurae's riffing on the terribad ones. Most of the time, people suck at the game, they take way too long to do anything, and their commentary is annoying.
Hmmm... you might like diabetus' Battletoads LP then. He's good at the game and his commentary is funny. Just a suggestion though if you're willing to try it.
Text and emoticons allow you to get away with a lot more, plus you can narrate however you want, meaning you can have different genres of replays. I once read an Animal Crossing one that read like the diary of a prisoner of a false utopia. It was hilarious.
Ah yes, Chewbot's LP. That was a really funny one, haha. As far as screenshot LPs, RedChocobo's Pokemon ones are hilarious. I've read all three several times through. And I agree, giving people time to think about what they'll write is probably a good thing.

Yes, the Let's Play! Basically it's other people playing through a game for others' entertainment, either via screenshot or video (the latter being more common these days). For more detailed info, read up on it here. So, who here watches LPs? Or do you just don't get why people would rather watch an LP than play the game themselves? Me, I enjoy LPs. I've been watching them for a couple years now and I get a good source of entertainment out of it. It's more than just watching the person play the game, it's watching the person too (no, that doesn't sound creepy and stalker-like). Currently, I'm watching HCBailly's Chrono Cross and Terranigma LPs, as well as NintendoCapriSun's LoZ: Twilight Princess LP. CC and TP have been reaching epic levels lately. :catgirl:

See, this is the kind of math I like. Simple head calculations. It's pretty easy to see how people could screw up and think it was 5000 though.
The Queen one was only one disc, but it has Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Bicycle Race. Good enough for me, lol . Would have been happier if it had Bohemian Rhapsody, but any Queen is good Queen.
I got a Queen compilation album several years back, called "Queen: Greatest Hits I II & III, The Platinum Collection". It has a ton of songs on it (including Bohemian Rhapsody), 51 total to be exact. I think I recall it being around $20? I dunno, just a recommendation in case you see it yourself. ^^

Well, I haven't really been watching the Olympics myself (I guess I'm just not into that stuff), but I caught my parents watching it earlier. Ice skating (doubles) were on, and oh my good gracious what the crap did they do. For some reason, they had a green screen effect and while the ice skaters were flitting about they had really cheesy and obviously generated backdrops. I thought it looked horrible, like... poor quality stuff. They should've just left it blank, it looks better that way. ._.

I see that Chat window you have down there. I did some searching and found out OB didn't have something like this (I'm pretty sure, anyway). Here's a little thread to share/show off what music you recently bought! Who knows, it may lead others to check out the artist/what-have-you themselves. Any kind of music counts, as long as you acquired it legally. For me, I just pre-ordered the .hack//Link soundtrack today! :D Of course, I won't have it for another month, so I don't know how good or bad it will be just yet. But still, I'm quite excited since I've collected all the other .hack soundtracks plus this one is Limited Edition. Yay nerdities! Otherwise, before that I bought "Read My Mind" by The Killers via iTunes. Man, it's a great song, arguably one of their best.

Cartoon Network used to have these call-in contests/giveaways, and one night I called and actually won! Man, I remember the lady on the phone saying, "Congratulations, you won!" She was laughing at my excitement too. XP So yeah, I ended up winning a Gameboy Color and three PowerPuff Girl games. It was pretty cool; winning it, not necessarily the games themselves.

I can't even imagine what my first literal game was... But video game wise, I can at least take a guess and say Mario. The first game system my parents bought us was the SNES, and we mostly got Mario games to boot. And one of those was Super Mario Bros. All Stars, so I'm sure one of the games in there was my first.

That was nice, taperson! You're pretty good with that piano. Out of curiosity, what is the song? I don't recognize it. As for myself, I guess a hobby I have that I can show off is photography. I'm not that deep into it, just started on it when I went to Japan (had a photography class). Now I have about 10 GB worth of photos from Japan on my computer. lol Thing is, it's been kinda hard for me to be as exuberant about it after getting back. I've started to renew an interest lately though. Anyway, some actual photos! Or at least links to them: Brush and Ink -- Grow Baby Grow -- Admiring the Color -- Glaring Sun -- The Trek

Being born and spending my childhood in California, I call it soda. Always will, even though now I live in a state where everywhere it's called "POP". Oy. ._. I have to say, my favorite is Coke. Just can't beat a nice cold Coca Cola. I'm kinda bad with my soda drinking habits though, 'cause I tend to have one every day. Hopefully I'll manage to cut back on that... Curiously, while I was in Japan I very rarely drank any soda. Most of the time I had some kind of tea; milk tea, "straight" tea, etc. Boy, do I miss my Japanese beverages. :(
