I've watched Gundam SEED (the entire series actually) and while I can't say that it's my favorite (that is reserved for Gundam Wing), I can't say that I hated it either. The story is good but there still seems to be something missing - Rau Le Crusset's motives for one (I had no idea what why he wanted to accomplish what he did)... not to mention that everything keeps repeating - I think that after we see a scene half a dozen times through flashbacks, we get the point that it's important. It's a good series though, don't get me wrong. It's actually really 'human' - if you get what I'm saying. As for Gundam SEED Destiny... well, I don't even want to get into that one - I'll wait until it's finished but so far, I have to say, that I'm not really liking it (GSD seems to have surrendered the story to the fans making the whole plot overly dramatic).

Anime Which animes should be on or put back on t.v.?

gundam wing should be put back on t.v. it's a good series - not too long, not to short, had an interesting and intriguing plot. also, maybe sailormoon should be put back on as well... or maybe just the first season... after that the story was just drawn out too long. and talking about animes that should be put back on, i think that dragonball/z/gt should be taken out. the series lasted too long! and it just keeps going and going and going... etc. when other animes (better/new) animes could take it's place. -
there's a variety of story lines that i like, acutally - all of which are quite different from one another. mostly, though, i'm drawn in by an or a somewhat angst plot or something that appeals to an 'ideal' but also impossible world. i like stories that explores different ideologies about humanity. this would mean, that i like stories like the gundam series especially (except sd), wolf's rain, ghost in a shell, and other such stories. i like these type of plots because they appear somewhat more realistic. it also makes you think. anime's that have a straight forward plot doesn't interest me - what's the point when you can easily guess what's going to happen next anyway?

gundam wing followed closely by gundam seed. i don't know, i seem to just need to get every single bit of information that i can.

my favorite would either be gundam seed or gundam wing. out of all of them, these two were the ones that held my interest the most - almost obsessively so. gundam wing because it focused mostly on ideals and war. the series was mostly on the political aspects of war and peace. and gundam seed because it focused primarily on the human aspects. in seed, the characters seemed more real - more alive in some way that they weren't in wing, wherein the people mostly represented ideals and beleifs. g gundam was interesting... for a while then it got boring. for me, it was just one gundam fight after another. there were some plot twists that kept me watching till it finished but i really didn't like it too much. 8th ms team i liked but i'm not all too familiar with the timeline. mobile suit gundam i personally thought was too confusing. sd gundam... i loath with a passion. if the other gundam series weren't as good as they were, i'd say that sd could have obliterated the amazing legacy that those before it created.

Anime What do you think the appeal of Gundam is?
zephryn replied to Dragonboym2's topic in Otaku Central
i can't say that it was the mechas that drew me in because it wasn't. i was drawn in by the characters. they're all so extreme in their actions and beliefs. yet, they vacillate between what is right and what is wrong and it's here that they come to some sort of ephiphany - why do people fight? is it necessary? etc. characters represent ideals and beliefs - something intanghible - all wrapped up in one or several characters. and then there's the progression of the characters themselves. episode after episode you see them grow up and mature a little more (i mean that mentally) evolving enough to understand and make a positive contribution to whatever they find themselves fighting for. i continued (and continue) watching because i want to see what happens. the gundam series are all really short (about 50 or so episodes) so the story never gets old or drawn out (as it does with other animes that i won't mention - though you all know which ones they are) - it knows when to end. every episode is important and is some turning point that if you miss it, you won't understand the imporance/ significance of something that would occur later on. the mechas, for me, were just that... mechas. they're cool though, don't get me wrong! i love them but i don't watch gundam wing or any gundam series because of it - more like what it represents. ^^ -
my all time favorite that i'll never get tired of is gundam wing though, presently, my favorite is gundam seed. why? because both stories present an intricate plot with a variety of themes. there's no definite good or bad (which is so cliche) - rather, you can see and come to understand the motives behind the actions of people. and this is presented in a mature and intellectual way.
