2. I love what Cloud is saying the best in that image Pumpkin. lol But yeah, considering how interesting some of those older threads are, I could so see a rule list like that actually being used back then. :blulaugh:

As he put it when he showed me this link ... Hell's Angels vs PETA would be totally hilarious. XD

I really liked the descriptions in Vicky's entry where I really liked how well I could relate to the emotions in Anomaly's. And though I know this is going to tie things again, my vote will be for Anomaly.

I could just imagine you flailing about while shouting that. lolz As for the microwave, I use it all the time to heat stuff. Sure I'll use the stove and oven for a lot of regular cooking, but the microwave is perfect for reheating stuff. Ours broke, but they fixed it cause it was still under warranty. Sucked to be without for a bit though. Reheating on the stove or in the oven takes so much longer.
 8.
My latest post deals with this further, but... I don't think any of this should be mistaken for an attempt to be politically correct. The problem is that if you define all suicide as simply an act of cowardice and that you "want to stop people from becoming cowards", you are virtually making a laughing stock of the entire issue. Preventing suicide should not be about stopping people from becoming cowards (a value judgment), but instead about preventing death and assisting people with the root causes of their suicidal feelings. Being able to appreciate the complexities of suicide and being able to treat the causes rather than worry about someone being known as a coward is a major area of difference among many of the views we've seen in this thread.
Simply an act of cowardice? Not once did I say it was only that. Let me try to be clear on this. Suicide is highly complex and that is only one aspect of it. It's really hard to explain this to someone who hasn't been there. I am not saying it's ONLY about cowardice, I'm saying that is part of it. It's fear, it's hopelessness, it's despair, its pain... it's a whole mess of conflicting emotions and a form of cowardice creeps in that helps push you over that final edge. Preventing suicide is about helping people tackle ALL of it no matter how ugly it is. You're seeing this as a label when I'm talking about part of the feelings that were an important aspect of that moment. Preventing death as you put it, is being able to recognize what happened, every last bit of it. And that includes understanding why you want to end it.
Right - you lacked the tools to deal with your fear. In other words, your fear was not the beginning and end of suicidal thoughts - it was a symptom of other causes. Also, fear played a role in your case, but what about someone who is so psychologically damaged that they believe their life is worthless? Or they might have the distorted belief that others would prefer it if they were dead? It almost sounds childish, but for people with the relevant psychological problems... it is real. To them it may not be an issue of fear or cowardice, but instead a purely functional decision borne of other emotions and for other reasons. For others it may be that they have difficulty coping with various elements of their life (due often to a myriad of causes - one suicidal person might be depressed, where another might be skitzophrenic, etc...) So the basic point (for me) is that the generalization that all acts of suicide are acts of cowardice and that all people who commit suicide are inherently cowards (whether at the time or at any stage) concerns me. It's a very limited definition and it doesn't imply any kind of understanding or grasp of the problem's complexity, at least on its own. Some things that have been said to qualify that definition have helped, but I think the definition itself is far from some kind of objective truth.
Again, this is about all of it. There is no generalization. It's me recognizing that I'm human and have my breaking point. I am not ruling out other causes, since they're part of what helps to drive one to do things they normally would not. If anything I think it is cowardice that is often misunderstood. I've been there, I know what it is and it's terrifying. You're taking that single word as if it's the only thing I would say on the matter and it's not, it's only one part of it. I don't know how to be any more clear than that. And since your other reply is essentially saying the same thing, I'm not going to answer it since that would be a bit redundant. o_O
 9.
Is it morally ethical to call a mentally disturbed person cowardly? Would you call a mentally retarded person "stupid"?
You're making the same assumption that Allamorph was talking about. It was those mental disorders, stress and so forth, that lead to making a choice that was cowardly because I became incapable of going further. At that moment, that evening when I made the choice, I was a coward. I gave in to the pain and fear even though I fought it until that point. Again, there is no shame in reaching your breaking point. That is a part of being human isn't it? It does not offend me to acknowledge that I have been weak at times. It's a fine distinction, one that a lot of you seem to fail to grasp, but living for years with mental duress of some kind isn't cowardly. It is only that moment when one gives up and takes their own life. It doesn't make them a bad person, it means they reached their breaking point. When someone feels like there is no reason to continue, I wouldn't point blank say, you're just being a coward, I would try to help them get assistance like I did. But I still can see how giving up like that was me trying to take the easy way out. Climbing out of that mess wasn't easy at all, even with help. However, attempting to compare mental retardation, which isn't reversible like many mental disorders are, doesn't even come close to the situation so asking that question is pointless.
 10. I guess at this point my question to all of you is, why are you so adamant against the word coward, cowardly, cowardice, etc? I'll tell you what I think of it, as someone who has been there, it is a form of cowardice. You can be politically correct or attempt to be more understanding (or rather sound that way with softer words) of what events lead to me attempting to kill myself, but the bottom line is, I did it out of fear and terror of facing the rest of my life. A life that at the time, was filled with more pain than I knew how to deal with. I was terrified of continuing and I'm not ashamed to look back and see that cowardice for what it was. It didn't make me less of a person, and obviously I got help and moved past it. But I sure as hell am not going to sugar coat it and pretend otherwise. The only thing I lacked back then was the knowledge on how to see past that fear, and the help from others who, as gently as possible, helped me see that those fears weren't as terrible as I thought. Anyway, as for assisted suicide, I'm of two minds about that. I don't want to see someone suffer, and yet like Nerdsy said, I don't know if I could actually help someone kill themselves to escape suffering. It really is a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. I hope I never have to face it.
 11. I've had one of the nastier versions of the flu before. Scared the crap out of me since I had never been that sick before. However, in spite of no vaccine being available, the meds they speak of did work beautifully in nipping it in the bud. So in the end, I'm not worried about it. You either catch it, or you don't. I'll of course be cautious like I always am anyway, but beyond that, I don't plan on worrying.
 12.
Ah, really? Did you take an x-ray or anything? Being the paranoid person I am I would like to have one taken just in case, but at the same time it's very expensive for me. Hopefully the podiatrist will be able to tell me what's wrong without taking one. I'm mostly disappointed because I won't be able to run/dance for a while, because I really look forward to doing those.
He took one to be sure, but it ended up not being necessary. Hopefully they can tell without needing too. I didn't mind, but my insurance paid for it. o_O
 13. I had something like that happen once from hiking, Lunox. Turned out that I had somehow managed to strain some of the muscles in my foot. o_O So then I got the fun of taking stuff to ease the pain and waiting a couple of weeks, while staying off it as much as possible, for it to finally get better.
 14. Okay, and finally posted. I meant to do that sooner and got side tracked by other things. I'm not completely sure on the timing but I'm sure it will end up working out. o_O
 15. ?We should stop for the night Priestess.? Elaine just looked over at Jace and Gerald and nodded. It was already getting dark and attempting to find their way in such uncertain terrain would be foolish. She followed along and then halted in surprise when she realized they were heading towards the snow instead of in towards the unusual valley. ?What are you doing?? She protested. ?That?s the wrong direction.? ?We don?t know what?s causing the climate change.? Jace turned so his chimera was facing hers. ?It?s too dangerous to be wandering around in there. We need to wait until we?re fully rested.? She wanted to protest but she knew he was right. It was just, what if they were hurt? She still didn?t want to believe that they were dead. Reluctantly she nodded and followed along as both Jace and Gerald found a spot outside of the influence of whatever was keeping the odd valley warm. It didn?t take them long to set up a campsite nor for her to dig through the packs to find something to prepare for them to eat. Even if she had no appetite, she couldn?t afford to skip eating. They would need their strength in order to continue the search in the morning. Once the food was heating up, she wandered off into the trees to clear her mind. She was careful to stay within sight of the campfire. It wouldn?t do her any good to get lost. Elaine could see Gerald as he took care of the chimera?s needs and Jace as he continued setting up camp. She had tried to help but other than the food, she had been shooed aside. She felt useless. Without Juste they couldn?t hope to translate the language of the Xear and even if they found the artifact, they still wouldn?t know what to do next. Stop worrying about it. Wait until you know if they survived the fall or not. She pushed her concerns back as much as possible and headed back towards the camp. By now the food was probably ready to be eaten. Elaine was almost to the camp when something in the snow caught on her ankle, sending her face first into the snow with a startled shriek. She wasn?t that loud, but it was enough to send the others running to where she had fallen. Strong hands grasped her arms and helped her stand up. ?Are you alright?? Gerald asked; his concern evident. ?Yes, I?m fine. I tripped over something in the snow.? She pulled free and started brushing the snow off of her cloak. Jace looked at her as if to make sure she was alright and then walked over and knelt down where she had tripped. He brushed the snow aside and then froze in place and turned slightly pale. ?What is it?? Elaine moved so she could see what he was looking at. Her heart caught in her throat when she realized that she was staring at several skeletons partially covered by the snow. But it wasn?t just that, what was truly startling was that the remains of their tunics had the symbol for The Citadel Guard. The design was slightly out of date, but there was no mistaking the symbol of the Phoenix.
 16. Well I do agree that there should be some form of punishment, but putting them on the sex offender list is stupid. I can see being required to take a class on it, but the other is just way out there and totally unnecessary. If they're still considered minors, then they shouldn't be punished as if they were an adult. I want to feel sorry for them, but at the same time, since they willingly gave the pictures to others, it just screams... Self Inflicted Problem!

 21. Separate Ways Lucia didn?t like it when she had to work at one of the offices for the company that had hired her. She could do everything from her apartment, but that was one area they wouldn?t budge on. She was required to be there for some of the work. They claimed it was necessary in order to properly review and calibrate some of her work, but she knew better. Some of them just wanted to see if they could figure out how she did her work in so little time. It wasn?t her fault that human technology was so primitive. Their attempts to peek into what she was up to were always met with her own security. She just wished they?d get over it and stop trying. Seven years and yet there was always someone prying. At least at her apartment, no human could enter unless she allowed it. She finished up the final bit of coding for the latest project and sent it off. ?What are you going to do now?? Ruby asked her as they left the building and then took to the air once they were clear. ?I need to forward the information on that smuggling location we found earlier.? She started to take out her communicator and halted. ?Or you can just tell them in person.? She suppressed a sigh and made straight for Adrian, Astera, Alex and Nall who were looking in their direction. She fought the urge to detour around the building they were standing on. Lucia had promised Ruby that she would work on not doing that. It wasn?t so easy to override her first instinct of simply avoiding others though. And it irritated her that she even had to fight it to begin with. I really am an idiot, she thought ruefully. None of them have done anything but try to help. ?Lucia, Ruby,? Alex nodded politely once they had landed. ?Did you need something?? ?I?ve located another hub for drug smuggling for the vampires.? She pulled out her communicator intent on pulling up the info and forwarding it to them. ?It?s just a relay point with no more than a few people guarding it.? ?Are you certain there are only a few people?? Adrian asked her. Lucia nodded. ?I was able to hack into their surveillance. A look at the logs shows no more than three people manning the place.? She pressed send, directing the file to both Alex and Adrian?s cells. ?The only time there is more is when a shipment passes through the area.? The two of them looked over the information that she had sent. ?Hunh, it looks like they had a shipment go through just the other day.? Astera said. ?Do you know how often something goes through?? Alex closed his cell. Lucia shook her head. ?Other than the surveillance logs, there isn?t any sort of information being kept there. Even the logs are erased every week since it just records over the previous file.? ?So it?s only enough to pinpoint troublesome groups and not a real record.? Adrian put his cell back in his pocket. ?If there are only three of them, even if they?re all vampires, they should be easy to deal with.? ?I don?t have any assignments for a few days,? Alex added. ?If someone just came, then the best time to strike would be now, before they realize we?ve found out.? ?That won?t work for me.? Lucia disagreed. ?I have one tonight, tomorrow morning and one in the afternoon.? ?Well if there are only three of them, I?m not sure you need to come along anyway.? Alex looked over at Adrian and Astera before looking back. ?We can see if Phaidra can come, but even if she can?t we should be able to take care of it.? ?Are you sure? That?s what Phaidra and I thought last time.? Lucia folded her arms across her chest and stared at the others. ?Perhaps you should wait until you can talk to Nathan first.? ?I?m sure it?s fine,? Alex insisted. ?We?ve already tackled larger groups with Nathan and Isen. If there are more when we get there, we?ll simply fall back and wait until the rest of you can come.? ?Alright, did you want me to forward the information to the others?? ?No, there's no need,? Adrian said. ?We?ll let them know we?re taking care of it.? Lucia let her arms fall to her sides. ?Okay, let me know when you get back.? ?Sure thing.? Adrian said as she took off.
