I'm addicted to reading for one. I go through withdrawl if I don't have something to read every day .: .
Wow, finally someone besides me who is addicted to reading! I'm the same way, even to the point that I'll read books or magazines that aren't my favirote type to read. I've had this addiction ever since I was in 4th grade and saw a book with an interesting picture on the cover. I saw it and just had to know what the picture meant even though I could barely read it at the time. (it was a clean book, just much harder than my current reading ability) I've lost count of the hours I've spent at the library looking for new books to read. I know you can download books and have a digital reader, but I just love having the actual book. My next addiction would be video games. I've been hooked on those since I was 7. However, unlike reading I can go a while without playing a game and I don't go into withdrawl over it. My other addiction would be anime. I love watching new anime shows. Unforchantly, I can't possibly afford all the series I would love to get. As for other addictions, well, truthfully I don't have any of the illegal or adult addictions. Smoking has killed many of my family member due to cancer and I've lost a family member to a drunk driver, and a family member got shot during a gang related drive by shooting. So I've pretty much stayed away from anything like that.
CA legislator Leland Yee is reintroducing his bill to ban violent video gmes in CA. Come on people just let them be. I have yet to see proof that kids go out and commit violent crimes because of video games. The Girl Scouts are backing it and so is the PTA, along with a few headline republicans. We need to have an international protest of all video game bans. We have got to unite and fight this atrocious acts.
It never fails to amaze me how people will try to force responsibility for someone's actions on something besides the person who chose to act the way they did. I think that the people who are trying to ban video games have forgotten or tried to get us to forget the stark reality; violent crimes have been committed for thousands of years before "video games" even existed. Violent games may give people ideas on how to commit crimes, yet the person doing the crime still ultimately made the decision to do the crime. A video game can't make decisions for you. It's like parents want our society to be responsible for raising their kids. Instead of wondering if they neglected their kid, or if their child made bad choices they say it's someone else's fault; whether they chose to blame video games, movies, tv, or the influence of other kids. I do think it's a good idea to regulate games with ratings like they do movies though. That way parents can chose whether or not their kids are playing violent games at a young age. I have some mature games and I know if I had kids I wouldn't want them playing them until they were at least 18 years old.

I use to be very short fused when I was in grade school, just about anything would set me off and I was a believer in revenge at that time. I got into so much trouble back then. Later as a teenager I found a good outlet in playing games like Doom in god mode. I would just take my anger out on the game. hehehe, I still like doing that. :animesmil Now I'm pretty laid back. I still get quite angry but I rarely display my temper. I'm still into revenge a bit, but in a more controlled fashion. For example, my best friend was hurt by one of her teachers, and to make it simple the teacher did something unprofessional and ruined her grade and attendance so she wouldn't get the credit for her hard work. At this paticular school you get a money reward for perfect attendance. Since the teacher's actions were unprofessional I wrote a letter to the editor of a local newspaper and got it published. I'm good at being diplomatic when writing such letters. By diplomatic I mean I don't rant and rave I just present the facts and request they be known to others. I also use to get upset over stupid drivers, espically since I feel I live in a area filled with people who haven't a clue how to drive. But I became a Comerical Truck Driver and there is absoutely no room for anger when you are driving a Semi-Truck. So I trained myself to not react to drivers when I am working. Though it helps to have a cell phone so you can report drivers who are a hazard to you and others. :animeswea Ironically when I do lose my temper and chew someone out my friends all think it's funny. But then most of my friends are passive and never react like I do. I've always been the type to get angry, espically when someone I know is being treated unfairly.

I don't see anything to feel betrayed over. I personally don't have an x-box because they don't have enough RPG games that I like to play. It would be nice to have more variety in the games produced for this console. I'm going to edit this post as I think people are misunderstanding what I was saying about x-box. I think I wasn't clear enough. I was simply trying to explain that it's current specs are capable of more than it's actually used for. So I'll just leave it at that. Anyway, back on topic, I think it's great that x-box will be getting a wider range of games. Though untill they actually do it I don't plan on getting one any time soon.

I would have to say I prefer anime. Although Manga is interesting and the artwork is fun to look at I prefer the shows as the books are too easily finished. I personally prefer books that are written on a much higer level of reading comprehension. I realize that manga isn't meant to be like a regular novel, it's just what I am use to as I was reading novels like "The Sword of Shannara" by Terry Brooks since I was 12 years old. So by the time I found anime and manga I found anime more enjoyable. Plus I think anime brings the story and characters to life in a way that manga doesn't. However if I really like a series I will get the manga as it will have tidbits and differences in it that aren't in the anime and in that respect I like manga as well. I have one exception to that though. So far out of what I have seen, I prefer the Yu-Gi-Oh manga to the anime. I really don't like how they have edited it for tv. I know they did it to make it for kids, but I think they ruined a really good series.

Detective Conan is one of my favirote anime shows. It's kind of sad that Adult swim doesn't intend to show any more episodes beyond the first 52. I've seen 162 episodes and this series is the type that just gets even better as it goes along. Episode 68 is where the series gets even more enjoyable, plus many of the stories become more complex and require two episodes to be solved. If the people at Adult Swim had actually watched the series they would have realized that to give the series a true introduction to America they needed to at least air the first 76 episodes. Adult Swim is claiming the ratings are poor but I know many people who love the series and the only reason they don't watch it on tv is Adult Swim puts it in a time slot that for many people is inconvenient. *myself included* With over 390 episodes and another movie showing in Japan right now they can't possible expect us to believe it's not popular. It certainly won't be the only series they have killed by running it in a poor time slot. Anyway, I really enjoy how it combines mystery, romance, and comedy quite well. I love trying to figure out the crime before Conan does. Though most the time I don't. But then it's fun to rewatch and truly see what I missed the first time. :animesmil

I agree, I think the previous trailer didn't show how great it looks. I mean the previous trailer did look cool, but this was even better! *sigh* now if Nintendo could only tell us when it's finally going to be released! I can't wait! :animesmil

What do you look for in a guy/girl?
SunfallE replied to Farto the Magic's topic in General Discussion
What I look for in a guy..... Believe it or not, one of the most important traints I look for is being adventurous. I personally like to try lots of stuff. Like skydiving, white water rafting and such. I also like guys who aren't afraid of girls who are intelligent. Nothing turns me off quicker than a guy expecting me to be stupid. I've had many relationships break up over that. Of course to be fair where I live a girl is expected to only get married and be a mother and have no interests beyond that. grrr! annoys me greatly! Espically since the boys are raised to think the same way too. Anyway, getting back on track, I also think being funny, trustworthy and loyal are important too. Proably the most important is being able to be best friends. Attraction is good but with out the ability to be friends as well I think it's not enough. I'm also pretty independent and he would have to be able to accept that. It has amazed me at how many guys expect a girl to passively let him be in charge. grrr! I guess you could say I mostly look for someone who can be equal with me in the relationship. Though at this rate I'll proably always be single. *sigh* -
I've always thought about trying blue or pink hair, but never got around to it. Mainly I like to use a strawberry blonde color. Since my own hair is dark blonde even when the red fades it looks really nice. I use to have nice pale blonde hair but as I've gotten older it keeps getting darker even to the point where I have dark reddish brown hairs in the mix. lol can't complain though, it's better than getting gray hairs I suspose. :animesmil Sersiously though I didn't realize you could dye your hair silver, perhaps I should try that next. Since the blonde's in my family never get gray hair It's proably the only way I can get it! LOL

I don't know if there is a name for it but I'm afraid of Lightening and Thunder even though I think storms are pretty to watch. I think it started when I was seven years old. My Dad took us offroading in the mountains and on the way down a storm started. I remember seeing lightening as it hit ground farther down the path. Plus it was close to the truck we were in. When you are that close to a lightening strick you literally feel a wave of air hit you due to the air being superheated by the lightening. And the thunder was very loud. I remember feeling really freaked out. So I think my fear stems from that incident.

I don't usually cry over anything, but the funeral in Yu-Yu-Hakusho hit a little to close to home, reminded me of my brother's funeral. *he was only twenty when he died* I also cried at the last episode of season one of Fushigi Yugi - The Mysterious Play when
Tamahome returns home and finds his entire family has been murdered
Other series have had me feeling a little mysty eyed but nothing like Yu-Yu Hakusho and Fushigi Yugi - The Mysterious Play did.

The one I found most disapointing was Neon Genesis Evangelion. I did enjoy some of the episodes, but over all I thought it was very disappointing. It was like it had good potential but they never went anywhere with it. After all the hype I read about it I expected more. Forchantly I rented it and didn't waste nearly two hundred buying it.

I can't say I dislike casual gamers or hardcore gamers as I think I am both. There are many games out there that I buy, play once and turn in for another one. Not because I never intended to keep the game but because usually it turns out to be a big disapointment. For example the Final Fantasy game for GameCube. The graphics were pretty but the story line bored me to tears. Yet at the same time I have games I get and love to play again so I keep those paticular games for good. Also there are many games out there that in my opinion are only fun to play once. Halo being one *sorry I'm just not into shooter games nothing personal* And then there are games like the Lunar series and Zelda series that are entertaining and fun to play again. I have to agree with what others have said about there being casual people in all industries. And I think casual gamers have certainly increased the demand for games. I remember all too well when playing games was at the arcade and not on a system at home. So in that respect both casual and hardcore gamers owe each other thanks as their desire to have more and more games to play has led to a huge gaming industry. As for buying games only for graphics or how it looked, well I can't say I fall in that catagory. My first games were imitations of arcade games written by graduating computer students for an apple computer. Didn't even have color monitors yet. By the time I got my first system I was excited just to finally have color. Not spectalular graphics as they didn't exist in the gaming industy yet. Even now, if the story line is poor I don't care if it's got great graphics or not. I guess my final word would have to be that to an extent I don't really agree with the phrase casual gamer vs hardcore gamer. Just different tastes in playing games. With some of them being more into it than others are.

Manga Does Online Manga Ever Get You Depressed!?
SunfallE replied to gaarasgirl90's topic in Otaku Central
I can't say that the manga I read actually made me depressed when I read it online. What depressed me about it is that most of the series hasn't been translated into English yet and I can't get it here in the USA yet. It was fun to read it online because fans translated it into English so I got to see it. But at the current rate of translation it will proably be at least 5 years before they get to the spot where the online manga's I read are in the series. *sigh* Since Detective Conan is my favirote series I definalty find it depressing that so little of it is available here in the USA. -

I've yet to see a reality show that wasn't dumb, but the most recent and stupidest one I saw was King of the Jungle. To tell the truth most of them are so stupid and annoying I never actually make though an entire show. I change channels before my desire to clobber the stupid producer of such a show takes over.

Well I live in Utah, and what makes it special is it's home to 5 National Parks. I live less than a 3 hour drive from 5 parks. Arches Canyonlands Capitol Reef Bryce Zions And if you love parks it's within 6 hours of other great parks like Yellowstone National Park Grand Canyon Great Bend So if your are the type that loves to hike then Utah is definatly one of the places to be :animesmil

Seems like there are alot of opinions on different Zelda games. I'm really looking foward to the newest game coming out. I have to admit, I was one of the one's dissapointed in the new look for Wind Waker. Yet I love the Zelda series so much I bought it anyway and to my surprise, even though I prefered the previous style of graphics, I really enjoyed playing the game. I'm glad they are switching back to the previous style, yet if they hadn't I'm sure I would buy another version done in the cel shading format. I think on some level, regardless of what Nintendo did there would always be someone upset with how the newest game was done. Although I love Ocarina of Time and other Zelda games, the Wind Waker cel shading style did deal with some of the some graphic problems and errors the other games had. For example, being able to freely shift your view and the characters were more complete. It always struck me as odd to see that Link's legs and tunic had space between them. It was very noticable for some activities in the Ocarina of Time. *Ducks to avoid being smacked* Don't get me wrong though. I never expect games to be perfect and it's still one of my favirote Zelda games. Although I think good graphics are important I'll still buy a game if the story is entertaining, even if the graphics aren't very good. On the other side even if the graphics are great I won't buy a game with a poor story line. I don't want to offend so I won't mention the games I'm reffering too.
