Once And For All There were all sorts of what if?s running through Lucia?s mind as they fought the vampire. What if she had asked Nathan for training? What if Phaidra hadn?t stopped the spell that the vampire had used? What if they lost? What if? What if? What if?? They flooded her mind like an unstoppable wave, all the things she could have done or might have happened. She ignored them as best she could, focusing on trying to deal with their opponent. Lucia couldn?t tell if the woman was faster than the Count or not. It seemed to her that they were fairly similar, though she wondered if that was because of what she had learned since dealing with the Count. She had picked up a lot since then, something she was sure Ruby would gloat over. They had the advantage of numbers but that didn?t guarantee that they would win. Lucia felt like she was holding up well, in spite of the slashes in her tunic and along her arms. She still hadn?t summoned her scythe, using her increased mobility to avoid the vampire?s attacks. Lucia felt that using short bursts of purifying flames were more effective for cracking a hole in the woman?s defenses, allowing her to strike. She could see a tiny bit of sweat starting to form on the woman?s skin, and her expression changed from being more carefree to being more focused and slightly irritated as they fought. She couldn?t resist a slight smirk when a fireball lightly grazed the left side of the woman?s face, singing her hair in the process. A small chuckle escaped as she moved in - taking advantage of the distraction, landing a solid kick to her stomach, sending the vampire flying. Now if we can pin her down long enough to finish her, Lucia thought as she raised her hands above her head and rushed forward, her scythe appearing in her hands. If I can just land a solid blow, she thought as the scythe started its downward arch, we can end this. But the woman allowed the momentum of the kick to carry her head over heels and to her feet before Lucia could complete her strike. Both blades came up to meet her scythe, halting the attack less than a foot from her face. Lucia barely had time to register that the vampire was muttering something under her breath when purplish lighting arched from the woman?s hands. It ran along the blades before running along her scythe and then into her, burning painfully. A flash of movement around her left wrist tugged at the corner of her vision and she ignored it as she fought through the pain to force the vampire back. For a moment they were staring directly at one another and then with a jerk the vampire pulled free, dancing back out of range. It took Lucia a split second, as she stumbled forward slightly, to realize that another strike was coming from the right. She abandoned her scythe as she dove for the floor, barely avoiding Phaedra?s attack. This isn?t working! We?re not as coordinated as we need to be. She glanced briefly at Phaidra as she got back up. They weren?t use to working together and there was no time to figure out a strategy. The vampire was leading them on a chase around the warehouse. At this rate, she?ll wear us down. We have to put a stop to it somehow. If only we had time for wards to guard against magic. She thought as she and the others moved to follow their opponent. Without some form of ward, Phaidra?s magic could and would hurt her if it hit. It was her fault. Ruby had lectured her about not isolating herself from the others, just as she had lectured her about getting some form of training. I should have listened. Just getting some training on her own wasn't enough. As soon as they were done here, she was going to have a talk with Nathan. If I survive this.

I haven't really seen Death Note or FMA, however with FMA having new material coming out in the future, I think it would get more attention and would have more people interested in discussing it. And since I just voted for it, I probably should actually watch it. ^^

I misunderstood your point at first, but now my point is actually similiar to yours. They only use mining and technology when it is more useful or there is no alternative.
That's the general idea. Also like James just said, it's definitely open to people to develop in their posts since I'm sure it would vary from region to region. I mainly wanted to be clear on that since I have some specific ideas that I hope to incorporate into the rpg at some point. Having a very rigid method of operation would have severely hampered that, but since we've agreed that it's not like that, I'm good to go. :catgirl:

You've kind of missed my point Mr. Blonde. Just as the church is not one-note or evil, it is not fanatical in the opposite direction in regards to all of technology either. I realize some of the confusion comes from not being a part of the first rp in this series but what Shy was referring to in his post here: post is the magitechnology that was pretty much exclusive to Czenovia only. If it helps there is a bit on it which can be found in the opening post for the backstage of the previous rp. Here's a link to it: post Unlike other forms of technology, magitechnology creates enormous amounts of pollution in comparison to other forms of technology. So having a blend of the other kind is perfectly reasonable and what I am getting at. In comparison to say the regular population they would definitely be more reserved, hence the avoidance of large amounts of metal armor when leather would work. But at the same time they are not so fanatical that they shun all technology.

Once my meeting is over with on Tuesday I will be free. I have no idea how long it will last though. It depends on how much needs to be covered. They start around 7pm MST and if there isn't much to cover, I'll be done by 8pm MST. Hopefully. ^^ I'm definitely free Wednesday afternoon though. In the meantime... I need to get my next post in for the current deal with my character. I have a good idea of what I want to have happen, I just haven't gotten around to actually writing it yet.

Heck if I know. For all intents and purposes let us say they are made of wood. There are some situations where using metal is a necessity, for sure, but I imagine the church is very clever about avoiding the use of metals whenever possible.
Well though I do think the church would be clever to a certain extent, I'm not so sure they'd go so far as to build it entirely out of wood. After all the gas used for Zeppelins is highly flammable. So it wouldn't make much sense to use something that also burns. Plus, wood would rot after being rained on. It wouldn't provide an airtight seal either, allowing the precious gas to escape. So I see them being as clever as possible and yet still willing to use the bare minimum of materials necessary for such ships. Like how the guard would have real steel swords instead of wooden or other materials that wouldn't work as well. I can definitely see leather armor under the uniforms in the image I provided since that would provide protection and cut down on the need to mine for ores. Just as I can see the other more bulky ones for Sief's personal guard. That would be considered more acceptable. Basically it comes down to me seeing the church as an entity that continually strives to strike a balance between using technology that is necessary and shunning technology that is more of a want than a true need. Especially if it's destructive in nature. Based on what Shy said here: The Church of the Phoenix is monotheistic, and followers believe that the Phoenix Goddess guides all living beings in an endless cycle of death and rebirth. This is more than just a simple desire to avoid pollution, this is a deep rooted belief that they are not only taking care of the world for the next generation, but for when they themselves will return in the future.
-
I'm assuming it's a typo Shy but wouldn't that be Cardinals instead of Clerics? Just a tiny detail there since the other doesn't make any sense at all. o_O Also, since I have already spoken to you about a potential interest in playing a new character associated with the church I'd like to offer a different suggestion for how the guard is dressed. I'd like to present an alternative view over the total secrecy one that Mr. Blonde has suggested. Image If the church disapproves of technology so much, I'm not so sure they'd be so quick to mine the earth for the materials needed to create so much armor for their guards. That seems to be hypocritical of the minimalist approach that they would take in my opinion. Where simple yet elegant clothing and slim blades seems more reasonable and would fit the church image better in my opinion. It would give them protection and yet fit neatly within the views they seek to uphold.

Atheists Send a Message, on 800 Buses

It made me laugh. The ads were clever and the irony of the whole thing was great. Turnabout is fair play in my opinion. Sabrina, I would positively die laughing if I saw those slogans on buses here in Utah. XD -

Yeah, hi. It's been a while since I posted, so I wanted to let everyone know that I haven't left this. It's simply been quite a while since I had anything to post, since Kiva and Daego are still planting the program in the relay stations and I don't really have anything else to post about that particular assignment. Anyways, yeah, just wanted to make sure youall know that I haven't left.
That's fine, sorry about the delay in the story progressing though. People have been really busy so it's made the stretch between posts take a lot longer than usual. o_O I appreciate everyone who's stuck around in spite of that. This is close to being done so I'm looking forward to seeing everything wrap up. Though by close I mean story wise if that makes sense. Oh and Allamorph, your last post was fun. I loved how you showed a bit of how they use that set up to respond to situations. Very cool.

I've been reading up on this and came across this little bit here:
Israel and its supporters argue that there is no equivalence ? they have been rocketed for years before their patience ran out. For Hamas, their charter states their goal ? to destroy Israel.
Uh... yeah. Kind of hard to just ignore someone who has every intention of destroying you. That puts any claim of legitimacy out the window in my opinion. There is no middle ground if the opponent is openly declaring that one of their goals is to ensure your destruction. Maybe if Hamas wasn't digging tunnels, firing rockets and didn't declare in their own charter or constitution that they need to destroy the state of Israel... I might actually feel inclined to believe Israel is wrong. If they want it to stop, they need to stop aggressively attacking Israel in the first place. Instead of provoking them and then crying foul when Israel retaliates.

I didn't mean to leave anyone's characters out of the RPG by making this story (I have some ideas about Alexander, actually..) but with Alecia and Alexander in particular it seems so out of place for them to go on a wild adventure across the globe.
That doesn't really bother me. I'd rather have more fun working with a new character instead of trying to force one into a role that doesn't fit them at all. Darren and I will create new characters and maintain rights to how Alecia and Alexander show up, if they do that is. As for helping out with creating the new world, other than some of the stuff that's already been mentioned here, I see it happening in the posts. I don't have any ideas just yet, but until the official sign up goes up, I'm not sure where to go since I will be dealing with an entirely new character after all. Oh and yes this is me saying, I'm interested in being a part of the sequel. =P

William groaned. If there was one thing he got tired of, it was the never-ending stream of reports. There were so many details to keep track of that he often wondered how Erica managed to keep everything straight. All it would take was one mistake and it would be over. It wasn?t often that he had time to sneak in a little light reading so when he had a free moment, he always took advantage of it. This particular book that he had was one of those rare ones that was actually entertaining. He was well into it when the chime indicating someone was outside his quarters sounded. Reluctantly he put down the book down and sat up before he issued the command to open the door and let them in. It was his second in command who was looking slightly out of sorts. He already knew what was going on, rumors spread quickly on a tiny ship like this. ?Take a seat.? He indicated the seat across from the sofa and then waited for his second to settle down. ?So, what couldn?t wait until the meeting?? ?It?s about our newest passenger sir.? ?Let me guess,? William leaned back a bit, resting his left arm across the back of the sofa. ?He?s lazy, doesn?t do his job, and other things along those lines. Am I right?? ?That is what the computer specialist says sir but.? The officer reached into his pocket and pulled out a data chip, tossing it to William. ?I?m no expert when it comes to his kind of work, but putting an end to profiteering by three major companies as well as limiting our own movements isn?t done by someone who?s lazy or can?t do their job.? William picked up his handheld and inserted the chip. He glanced over the material briefly; it looked like it had what he was looking for. ?How long until we drop out of hyperspace?? ?Sir?? He sounded slightly confused by the sudden topic switch and only continued when William didn?t answer. ?In about three hour?s sir.? ?Let the specialist fuss, the problem will be taken care of then.? He set his handheld down and looked up. ?Was there anything else?? ?Not really sir, the rest can be covered in the meeting.? He stood up and then paused as something occurred to him. ?Any word on Scorer sir?? William stood up. ?It?s going well.? ?I see. Sorry sir, I shouldn?t pry.? Disconcerted, he looked down at the floor, refusing to meet William?s gaze. William couldn?t help but chuckle a bit over that. Everyone was curious about what had happened to Scorer. Other than to know that he had been handed over to someone else, no one knew where he was. Even he didn?t know where Sauvage was. It was safer that way. William changed the subject. ?What about Landers? What's the latest news?? He had already seen the report though. William merely nodded at the right places when his second apologetically explained how the latest intelligence indicated that Landers had broken under interrogation. He was not surprised, even if they hadn?t moved Celestia and Jason to the capitol to use as leverage, it would have happened just the same. Someone like Scorer, who could resist it, was the exception to the rule, though it seemed that he too would break soon enough. And oddly, William found himself morbidly curious about whether or not Scorer would notice certain changes that would be made. The thought crossed his mind to countermand the order he had sent to Sauvage to go ahead, but he dismissed it and let his mind drift back to what would be covered in the meeting.

Silver Blaze ?So we?re looking for actual documents instead of electronic messages.? ?Correct.? Lucia answered Phaidra. She had already explained that they were looking to track messages that were being delivered by a courier. The group was hovering in the air several hundred feet above and away from the warehouse in question. The information she had collected had enabled her to track down a couple of places that were being used for passing coded messages from one set of hands to another. The level of secrecy was, in her opinion, overkill. Though she supposed that depended on what they were hiding. It was obvious that organizations like the Count?s and others they had dealt with, found using illegal drug running among the humans an effective means for raising funds. The only thing that truly bothered her was why. She didn?t completely understand the drive humans had to acquire absurd amounts of money and for vampires to do the same made no sense either. At least not yet. ?My information indicates that one of main supporters behind what we?ve been tracking is in this area.? Lucia turned her communicator off. ?If we?re going to see who the message is delivered to so we can follow them, we?ll need to be inside to make sure we have the right person.? She looked over at Sarvel who was focusing on the location. ?There are a couple of humans that feel slightly odd, but that?s all.? The fox looked back at the group. ?So long as we don?t get too close, we should be fine.? She seemed to frown slightly, though with her fur it was hard for Lucia to tell. ?Let?s go then, my information indicates that the next messenger is due in fifteen minutes, if we miss it we?ll have to try another time.? She headed for the warehouse, Lucia didn?t have to look to see that the others were following along. She couldn?t tell if a human was tainted very well but she could sense their presence along with anyone else just fine. The warehouse was nearly empty, with only a handful of humans hanging out on the west side. She headed for a spot not to far from where they were located. An odd tingling sensation ran across her skin as she ghosted through the walls. What the? That had never happened before. She stopped and turned to look at Phaidra and Sarvel who had also stopped. It reminded her of the ward that Phaidra had placed on her apartment. ?What happened?? She turned her communicator back on and started scanning. ?I?m not sure,? Phaidra answered. ?It felt like a ward, but until we passed through it I didn?t detect it at all.? She turned around and reached out to touch the wall. She had barely done so when she suddenly snatched her hand back as if she had burned it. ?Sarvel.? She said grimly. ?I know.? The fox growled back, her fur standing up. ?What?s wrong?? Ruby asked. Phaidra turned back to face the pair. ?We?ve triggered trap. In this case a barrier. We?ll have to punch a hole in it or find the source and disable it.? ?Just a barrier?? Ruby asked while Lucia continued to check the area with her communicator. ?That doesn?t seem like much of a trap." ?I?m not picking up any energy distortions either, well other than the barrier.? Lucia looked up. ?I assume that whoever set it will know we triggered it?? Phaidra nodded. "It's designed to notify whoever set it." ?Damn.? Lucia exclaimed. ?We?d better get out of here then.? ?Right.? Phaidra turned and started talking to Sarvel. Lucia continued scanning since she didn?t understand the magic stuff they were talking about. So much for that line of investigation, she thought. She was about to go back to concentrating on her scan when a nasty thought occurred to her. ?Wait, how did we trigger the barrier?? ?That?s easy,? an unfamiliar voice said from the shadows. ?It only responds to someone like you.? Startled the group spun to look for the source of the voice. Why aren?t they showing up on my scanner? Lucia frowned and then stepped back in surprise when further out in the warehouse, a shadow dropped from the ceiling to the floor and then started walking slowly towards the group. What the hell? I can?t sense them either? her head jerked back in surprise when the stranger got close enough for her to finally sense what they were. A vampire!? How did Sarvel miss that?

I joined a site called Pandora a few months ago. Basically it's a place where you list artists or songs and it will pull up other artists and songs (in addition to what you listed) that are similar for you to listen to. It's a fantastic site. However, that's not the point of this thread... what is the point is I decided to create a station to revisit the music I listened to while I was growing up. So I added artists like Depeche Mode, Huey Lewis and the News, Chicago, and Elton John. I thought it would be fun and it was. It was enjoyable to hear songs that I haven't heard in a long time. However, that also brought up the painful realization that I no longer like Elton John it seems. At all. Honestly, every time one of his songs played... I couldn't turn it off fast enough! o_O I finally had to remove that name from my list since it was driving me nuts. Now I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds that music they liked when they were younger, is something they'd rather not hear. Or perhaps something you heard a year ago now bores you to tears. So... share, share, share! What artists or songs can you no longer stand?
