1. Well it was fun while it lasted. XP I already talked with most of you about this but with that final post, Project Starship is officially over. If anyone wants to pick it up again later feel free. Thanks for your input everyone. :catgirl:
  2. Kendra was ready to scream with frustration. They had been at the gate for an hour and Dr. Rhodes was still indicating that she was not ready. If she didn't hurry up and make an attempt to recover the others and soon, it would be too late. Kendra was keeping track of the incoming Creid battleships and the data indicated that they would be dropping out of hyperspace in thirty minutes at Telvaris. Dr. Henderson had already made the decision to destroy the gate once they were done and to that effect Captain Teresa Schovick and Major Cameron James had already moved the small science team to the Argo Navis, securing them in one of the conference rooms. They had then, using the other explosives that Kendra had access to on account of the code Marcus had given her, set up the entire site for destruction. But at this rate, they wouldn't have time to get clear to even set the charges off! It had been Brianna's decision to destroy the gate since she was willing to stake her career that Nakeisha was correct in that the gate was tapping into dimensional rifts. And in her opinion, no one else needed to die on account of the Creid governments greed. It was part of why her father disliked the military so much, the constant hovering over any dig to see if something that could be used as a weapon was found. "Dr. Rhodes!" Kendra snarled with frustration. "Dammit! You've got to give it a try and now! We don't have time for you to keep checking things!" "But..." Nakeisha started to protest. "Please Dr. Rhodes." Michael spoke up. "It would take hours for me to do another comparison to make sure what little we've translated is correct and you said it yourself, we don't have time for that. Do you really want to end it without even trying?" "But if I'm wrong! They'll die!" "If you don't try, they'll still die." Catherine pointed out. "At least this way you'll know you did what you could." "Fine." Nakeisha said, tossing the ships equipment aside in frustration, she started to protest to talk about being rushed and shut up as she walked over to the stone pedestal next to the huge rectangular gate. Most of the controls were still a mystery, but their were notations by the researchers indicating what each sequence that had been tested would do. Damn fools, pressing buttons to see what happens instead of trying to understand the gate's true purpose. Nakeisha hated incompetence and the whole set up reeked of it. A moment later, with Michael helping her they were ready, she took a deep breath and activated the gate. A brilliant flash filled the area, forcing everyone to cover their eyes until a moment later the gate had closed, the structure glowing eerily with a bluish light before it too finally faded. The moment Kendra could see again she was rushing to see if it had worked, she looked everywhere and then gave a startled gasp when she got close enough to see Catherine already bent over Marcus who was lying prone, looking like he had been dragged to hell and back again. "Doctor!" She cried out and she practically flew to his side. "You can relax Miss Erickson," She said, "It looks worse than it actually is." She motioned to Teresa and Cameron. "Help me get him to the Argo Navis so we can get out of here." No one needed a second reminder as they hastily beat a retreat into the ship. Kendra however was stopped by Brianna when she moved to follow the doctor to the infirmary. "You need to get us airborne, we don't have time." She reminded her. "Right." Kendra turned and headed for the bridge at a dead run, Teresa right behind her and then followed by the others other than Cameron who was still helping Catherine. Kendra didn't waste a second as she practically flew into the navigation seat, her hands flying over the controls as she brought the Argo Navis to full power, they had all of ten minutes before the battleships would arrive, barely enough time to get clear and set the charges off. A moment later with a deafening roar as the ships engines kicked up dust and debris in the camp the ship took off, heading for space and then leveling off a few minutes later upon reaching it. As Teresa, at Brianna's instructions set off the charge, Kendra ignored the readout on the surface of the planet in favor of powering down all of their defenses other than the navigation shields. "What are you doing?" Brianna asked her once she had checked the readout and seen that the gate had been destroyed. "Standard military protocol, instead of waiting for them to order us to power down all defensive and offensive systems, I'm doing it now." Kendra shrugged as the two ships dropped out of hyperspace and began to approach their location. "We lack the ability to escape or to even fight so it's better to take as low key of a stance as possible." She looked down as a beeping sound indicated they had an incoming transmission. "I believe that is for you." "I believe you are correct." Brianna said as she moved to answer it, pausing when Kendra spoke again. "Thank you, all of you. No matter what happens, I want you to know I appreciate your efforts in recovering the Colonel." She smiled sadly as Brianna merely nodded and moved to open the channel. To Be Continued...
maybe

  3. Even though she did not intend to change her stance or take back what she had said, Alecia was already regretting her outburst. Even if it were true, it still made her no better than Lady Bavaria, creating a stir and possibly humiliating her in the process. It made her guilty of the same disrespect that she had accused her of doing. She couldn't help but sigh just a tiny bit as she wondered why Macey and Eva had locked themselves up in the library. "Now what's that face for dear?" Macey inquired. "We'll take care of that disgrace, you'll see." "That's not it, even if what I said was true, I did the very same thing that she did to Dame Anna and Henry." "Rubbish!" Macey said with a dismissive wave of her hand. "Now instead of dwelling on that nonsense how about you help me out with a project I'm working on?" "Are you sure sister?" Eva spoke up, giving her an odd glance. "Of course I'm sure, Alecia's a potionist as well and if we are to find a cure, another take or prospective on it would be helpful." "What are you talking about?" Alecia interjected, her frustration momentarily forgotten from the shock of Macey actually asking someone to help her. She had always been so secretive about her work, never accepting anyone's help. "Well you see, it has to do with Gadget." Macey started to explain. It took her a little while since Alecia kept interrupting her with questions but when she was finally done Alecia stood up and started pacing back and forth, shaking her head as if she couldn't believe what she was hearing. It was utter madness! How could the Dynast government even think of doing such a thing? She opened her mouth intending to protest only to halt at the look in Macey's eyes, it was clear to her that she wanted to undo what had been done. She closed her mouth and nodded. "Very well, I don't know how much I can help with this but I will try. There is one thing that I think we should consider though, since so many subjects died, you might want to isolate why Gadget survived instead of simply focusing on a cure." "In other words stabilize the reaction instead of attempting to get rid of it?" Eva spoke up from where she was sitting at a chair, looking through a book. "Exactly, considering what was done, it may not be possible to reverse it, but if you can find out why he survived, it just might lead to finding a way to stabilizing it." Alecia shrugged. "It's worth looking into." Before any of them could say anything else a knock was heard at the door and the sound of muffled crying could be heard. Alecia was up in a flash, opening the door to see what was going on. "I'm sorry miss," the servant who was holding a crying Victoria Ann by the shoulders. "I didn't know where to take her since the others are at the wake." Alecia reached out and gathered Victoria into her arms. "It's alright thank you." She steered Victoria over to one of the chairs while Macey closed the door once again and then once Victoria calmed down a little bit she asked her what had happened. "That horrible woman was so mean to Dame Anna and Henry," She said through her tears, looking up at Alecia who was sitting next to her, her arms around her. Victoria's face became stern. "So I kicked her but Uncle Daedalus told us to stop so I ran away." A moment later Victoria Ann's tears turned to a look of bewilderment as the others laughed out loud.
  4. What is that idiot doing down here? Daniel was more than a little surprised, not that Williams had found him, but rather that he had actually come to such an open location, disguise or not, it seemed foolish to him. With a sigh he motioned for the security to let him through, waiting until he sat down before saying anything. “With all respect sir, what the hell are you doing here?” Williams just laughed, “You do remember that I said I was coming don’t you? It seemed appropriate to simply join you here since I have business with Miss Sabina as well.” “Honestly Will,” Valencia spoke up, sounding slightly irritated. “I wish you’d quit changing your appearance every time I meet you. One of these days I’m going to shoot first and ask questions later.” She folded her arms on the table and looked at him through narrowed eyes. “You know each other?” The two of them turned to look at him and he sighed. “Never mind, of course you do. Anyway, shall we get down to business?” “Only if it means you’re going to give me what I want.” Valencia smiled. “Yes, we are going to give you what you want.” Daniel replied. “It will require someone from the Liberator to install the program but I’m sure that’s not…” “That won’t be necessary, Cassandra is more than capable of doing that herself.” “You don’t understand Miss Sabina,” Daniel explained further. “The program goes against what you or Cassandra would consider logical or even possible. If you look at it, you will notice that based on our science, it shouldn’t work. If you make any corrections to what you perceive as mistakes, it won’t work.” “Yeah, yeah,” Valencia waved her hand dismissively, “It was written by Celestia right? I already know that she does things that don’t make sense and yet still work. I won’t alter it and neither will Cassandra.” She smiled sweetly. “No offense dear but I’ve no interest in letting you or anyone else get a look at my ship. Unless you want to trade it for the Transcendence, I’d prefer the Catalyst, but I doubt that Kiva would want to give that up.” Daniel didn’t get a chance to respond as Williams just laughed out loud once again. “And you’re still as greedy as ever Valencia. Seriously though the Catalyst is currently being commanded by Kiva and the Transcendence as you already know is securely locked down on the Liberator. Since both of them are the only ships using the perfect crystal system, only Kiva, Daniel and myself have access to them.” “Sir! No offense, but what the hell are you doing?” Daniel was aghast, why in the world was William speaking so openly about the newest Messenger Ships? “You haven’t told him have you?” Valencia just sighed, “It seems your still as secretive as ever Will.” She turned to face Daniel. “To anyone with a bit of observation skills, when the Transcendence was in sector one, it wasn’t long before the news spread about a new Messenger Ship and a new crystal system for powering it.” She paused, looking to Williams who merely nodded. “I have a pretty extensive network for gathering information so it didn’t take long for me to learn about it and just who was piloting it, after all, Elite Specialists are the only ones with ships fast enough to catch me so it’s in my best interests to always know who is where. And it‘s highly profitable to turn around and sell the information to the Resistance or rather the New Alliance.” “Or steal things to sell for a profit,” Daniel added, even though he knew it was the only way for her to have gotten her cargo for them, it still didn’t change the fact that she was a pirate and he didn’t like working with someone like that. “Yes, there’s that too.” Valencia shrugged. “But I’m not interested in discussing that, what I am interested in is my business with Will here since you and I are done.” “Ah yes, before you head back Daniel,” William handed him a data chip. “Kiva’s next assignment is on that, once I finish with Valencia here I’ll contact you so we can go over the other things I need to discuss with you.” “Are you sure it’s safe to stay here without any security? I mean,” Daniel indicated the bar which was not empty. “You have been seen with both of us so it’s bound to draw a lot of unwanted attention.” “Don’t worry Daniel, I assure you I’m not alone.” “Very well sir.” Daniel stood up turning to face Valencia. “Just contact the Liberator when you’re ready to transfer the cargo.” He resisted the urge to bow and simply turned and left, the security falling in step with him as he exited the bar. It didn’t take long to call the Liberator and request a transport door at his location. Once on board he made for the bridge so he could contact Kiva and send her the information for her next assignment. He couldn't help but wonder just how Williams and Valencia knew one another though. Not that he’d tell anyone about that since it would only draw unwanted attention to Valencia.

  6. Sandra was lost in a sea of pain, barely aware of where she was after the sudden surge of rage that had fueled the Cleansing Tempest. All she remembered was the sudden crack of Sena?s counterattack in the form of the hellish purple energy he had tortured her with earlier. Upon realizing where she was after that attack, she had instinctively raised her shields when she recovered enough to realize that she was sprawled on her back on the stairs, her left leg up in an uncomfortable position underneath her. She hadn?t even made it to a sitting position before she was startled by a number of the shards of darkness impacting on her shields. And then before she could do more than see where he was wave after wave of the dark energy was sent her way. Where is he getting the energy for this? It was all she could do to maintain the shield and yet with each blow she could feel it falter. It wouldn?t be long before he overcame her. Hang on Sandra! He?s over extending himself with those attacks, if you can hang on he?ll wear himself out. She cringed when the next blast caused the outer edge of her shield to crumble and tiny bits of the dark energy crept in, running painfully though her legs. It won?t help! At this rate I won?t have any strength left either! A thought that was quickly followed by the next blast shattering the shield altogether as it then slammed into her, smashing her to the ground, half dazed from the pain as the energy coursed through her before finally coming to a halt. Sandra thought she heard herself scream, but she couldn't be sure. Just as she thought she could hear the pink stone crying out frantically to her but another blast, and darkness descended on her, leaving her lying there barely conscious. Sandra! The voice was so distant, she couldn?t even feel her body let alone see where she was. All she could do was lie there and wait for the moment when once again he would put his hands on her, only this time she wasn?t sure she could stop him. He had looked like he was hurt, with cuts and bruises all over and blood running freely from his right leg and other spots on his body. But as she lie there, slowly climbing out of the darkness she could hear slow shuffling footsteps approaching her. Sandra tried to open her eyes to see what was going on, but nothing was cooperating. I have to win? I? I can?t lose. Hurry! He?s almost here! Sandra still couldn?t see and then movement made her realize that it wasn?t that she couldn?t see, it was that the twilight was almost gone. I?ll only have one chance at this, she thought as she mentally began to prepare the Light of Judgment. Waiting until he was almost upon her before bringing her hands in front of her, a task made easier by her being sprawled on her left side, slightly turned so that she was looking down towards the center of the field of the stadium. But the darkness was not her friend as the pure glow from the spheres of light gave Sena plenty of time to dodge the attack, laughing at her as tears started to flow down her face. I? I?m sorry. I let you down. She told the pink stone. ?I take it back,? Sena said, pausing for a moment to cough violently. He covered his mouth and then wiped the blood on his torn pants when he was done. ?You actually turned out to be entertaining.? Sandra could only watch as he moved until he was in position to kneel down next to her, reaching this time for the pink stone that was on a silver chain around her neck. Yanking it free as he jerked it violently, breaking the chain. ?Once I take care of this nuisance, you?re next.? Sandra! The stone cried frantically. He was so close that it would have been a simple matter to touch him, something she did, reaching out and grasping his left arm. Startled he twisted to face her, raising his hands at the same moment Sandra called on the last bit of desperation she felt to painfully launch the Light of Purity. She could feel something inside her break, it was more of a mental sensation than a physical one. The shards lacked their usual power but at that range it did not matter, with a sickening thud several of them hit home. ?I think not.? Sena rasped as he pulled one free and turned to ram it deep into her own chest before falling over. The pink stone fell to the ground with a clatter as he clutched his chest where the shards had hit. Sandra! She reached over, picking up the pink stone, before allowing the shards to disperse and the blood to flow from where he had impaled her. She started to ask the pink stone if Sena was dead but a wave of darkness claimed her. ******************* It is now up to BKstyles to decide who is the winner of the spar. It was fun Crystia, even if it took forever to do. I had no idea that doing a spar would be so hard. XP No matter who BKstyles finally chooses I had a fun time with it. :catgirl:

  8. Well since I'm taking a break from Final Fantasy XII for being tedious in the need to spend so much time killing things just to upgrade... I'm currently playing Wild Arms 4, one of three games I was given for Christmas. It's interesting in that cut scenes and the way conversation between characters is handled is cheesy as hell, along with the actual dialogue ... and yet I keep playing it because I like the battle system. I'm picky about how battles are done and I like the HEX battle system for it. I also like how if you lose, you have the option to continue instead of having to go through the tedious process of game over and reloading the game. I find that supremely useful in boss battles since I've always found the game over and needing to reload a tad annoying. lol

  10.
Oh, and I really don't want to hear any more about this game being "boring" or "tedious" (got enough of that during Ragnarok anyway). If you guys really feel that way, it must be only because you haven't done anything about it. I'm having fun developing my character, why don't you have fun with yours as well? What's holding you back? I mean, c'mon! There's a whole fantasy world created for you to explore! ;D If it's just the slow pace that's bothering you, then the issue is already being addressed.
*poke* Don't start that Sandy, people are simply addressing concerns with something that obviously they find fun or they wouldn't say anything at all. ^_~ So don't shove the blame back on them, that's kind of rude really. I've felt a little bogged down by the pace as well, but only because there is so much I want to do that I haven't been able to yet. Think about it, would you rather people simply quit posting or speak up when they feel a little frustrated? I know I'd want to hear from someone if they felt that way. ^_~ And the reason I'm posting, it's to say that I'm glad to hear that the pace will pick up a little since I've felt it was a little slow as well. So I'm pleased to see that I'm not the only one who felt that way, especially since I like how this is going and I'd hate to see it fall apart when it's got so much character development going for it. 11. ?You?re starting to bore me.? Sandra resisted the urge to laugh at those words, feeling more than a little hysterical at her inability to land a more serious blow on Sena. At that moment, if she could, she would have welcomed the darkness of defeat, of falling to never rise again. The feelings of fear, despair and defeat were so strong and bitter that she could almost taste them. The approaching darkness as the sun was nearly below the horizon, only served to give the feeling that her time was up. What was I thinking? She thought as she collapsed to her knees, sitting on her legs as she held herself and cried. ?Giving up already? And here I thought you might have been a worthy opponent.? Sena mocked her. ?It won?t save you from a slow and painful death.? What are you doing Sandra! The pink stone cried frantically. You can?t give up so easily! Give up? In case you haven?t noticed, she replied in her mind angrily, he?s done nothing but toy with us from the very beginning! I? I was wrong to think I could stop him! She cried even harder, oblivious in that moment to Sena approaching, too caught up in her own misery. That?s not true! He?s playing on your fears to make you think you can?t win! You?ve got to snap out of it! If you give up now, he?ll destroy everyone. Please Sandra! What about the children at the orphanage? Or your parents? She knew the stone was correct, but it didn?t alleviate the overwhelming feelings of fear that she had. Until now, Sandra had been able to push them aside, trusting in her ability to take care of Lust and Greed to tell her that it was possible for her to win, but? Her thoughts scattered as a flash of movement told her that Sena was attacking. Sandra responded without thinking as she summoned the Barrier of Light, rocking backwards as the force of the dark energy he had used on her before slammed into her shield. He attacked her again and again as if he could sense how each attack weakened her barrier, making it harder for her to maintain it. She half heartedly tried to launch the Light of Judgment, but Sena knocked the globes of pure white aside almost contemptuously as he continued until with a final deafening crack her barrier shattered, the force of the blow sending her flying to land sprawled on her back. It felt as if she had been bruised all over and once again Sandra could taste blood where she had bitten the side of her cheek again. Drained and exhausted, all she could do was lie there and watch as Sena approached, blood running down his side where her last attack had actually managed to clip him. Her mind was screaming at her to move, but nothing was happening. So this is it. She thought grimly, I really am going to lose. ?I had hoped for more from you.? Sena said as he knelt down next to her prone body. ?But it seems that even you are far from challenging.? He sighed as if disappointed and then smiled cruelly as he pulled her up a bit by virtue of grabbing a handful of her hair, smiling as she moaned in pain. ?At least your screams are lovely.? He said as he ran his left hand along her in a possessive manner, causing her to shudder and then finally snap when he started to remove the remains of her clothing. With a scream born from more rage than terror, the Cleansing Tempest surged around her violently. Tearing apart the few chairs still near them and even the cement steps leading further up towards the top of the stadium. Sena tried to pull free only to be battered mercilessly by the debris that was swirling around them. Desperate to put an end to the assault he lashed out with the Infernal Arc, a split second later a huge boom sounded and both of them were sent flying.
  12. I've updated the first post with a link to the newest character Valencia Sabina, since like I said before, I'm lazy and like having everything in an easy place for finding it. I included a tiny bit on candidates for the High Council even though we're not likely to deal with them this time around since Stevens and Sandra are full Council members this time. Anyway, just a few more things are expected to go up and then we'll get started, though if some of them haven't by say Sunday, I'll advance the story just the same. And by that I mean I'll be sending out the new objectives at that point since my plan was to get them to everyone no later than next Monday. Anyway, if there are any questions or concerns just let me know.

Anyway, he's far from popular here and at the moment Obama has more popularity here than he does. I doubt that the state of Utah will end up going democrat in the elections, but it would certainly be interesting to see if we finally did, I mean the last time I understand was back in 1964. >_> Far to long if you ask me. Throw me a bone, please. :animedepr)
I can't, the timing for me at the moment is terrible. I'm going to likely be starting a new part time job for another company starting next week. Doing the fun bit of organizing all of their personal files and other things as well. It's going to include some commute time as well, so I'll have an additional five to twenty hours of work a week on top of my normal schedule. In other words, I'll be sticking with my current obligations and nothing else, I'm actually hoping to finish up the spar I'm in before next week so I won't have that hanging over my head either. So I won't be looking to replace it with something else. Personally, if you want to do it now. I'd look for new people instead of the older crew, I know you say the plot needs them, but if that's the case, you'll have to wait on me. I suspect that once I've been working at the second job for a bit and I get use to how things run, I'll have time again. But right now... my free time is already taken. :p
  17. Ability: Light of Purity. A series of short lethal shards of light about six inches in length. Though they can be produced in high numbers, they are limited in range, only traveling a few feet from the wielder?s body. They are meant to be used as a finishing move in battle. ***********************Sandra? She had not expected Sena to find her so quickly, trusting in the deception as she had slowly moved away and starting looking for a means to set a trap to ensnare him. Just as she had momentarily forgotten about his ability to cloak his movement in shadows, not realizing that he had merely gone down to trick her. Sandra? She could hear screams as blackness threatened to claim her, screams that she assumed were her own as she was so lost in the pain that she could not see her own surroundings, other than hints of a hellish purple light that danced with glee as if mocking her. Even the voice calling her name seemed detached and far from her as if coming from a great distance. Sandra! This time the voice penetrated her consciousness as the horrible pain finally receded and she found herself on her knees, gasping for breath as tears streamed down her face. Held up by the force of the chain that was tightly wrapped around her, the end held taunt by Sena as bit by bit he moved until he was standing before her, looking down as he kept the chain tightly held. ?Your screams are as lovely as I could have hoped for,? He smiled cruelly as he reached down with his left hand, grasping her chin and forcing her to look up at him. You?ll only have one shot at this Sandra! The pink stone whispered in her mind. If you don?t get free? I know? She replied, shaking with the effort to not only stay awake but to attempt to prepare the power needed to launch the Light of Purity. At this range, with the chain so tightly bound around her chest, the shards of light would end up ripping her clothing as well as the chains. And if she did it wrong, she could potentially impale herself as well. If they weren?t strong enough, they would recoil backwards, killing her. ?Nothing to say?? Sena said as he watched the internal struggle in her eyes. ?I?ll spell it out for you.? He leaned down to whisper right into her left ear, laughing when she tried to pull away in disgust at his touch as he caught the front of her tunic along with the chains holding her in place as well as grasping her hair so tightly that it caused her to grimace with pain. ?I intend to get every type of scream there is out of you, from tearing you apart physically to stripping you of what all maidens hold dear.? He pulled back and laughed when she shuddered at the implication in those words. Now Sandra! The pink stone cried out. Sandra struck swiftly, before Sena could realize what she was doing, sending out the Light of Purity, wincing in pain as some of the shards cut her skin as they broke through the chains, sending the shards in all directions. Some of them managed to slam into Sena, but most went to the side, deflected when they broke through the chain. A few seconds later to the sound of her cries of pain, the sound of tearing cloth and the snap of the chains and shards colliding and breaking? and she was free, struggling to her feet and then using the barrier of light to not only protect herself, but to shove Sena away, knocking him off his feet. With most of her shirt in tatters, and yet still barely hanging on, Sandra took several steps back as she caught her breath, grimacing as she watched Sena sit up and casually start removing the Light of Purity shards that had managed to strike him. With a grin he merely tossed them aside and then watched them vanish. Paying no heed to the blood that flowed from his wounds. ?Excellent.? He said with a laugh. ?That?s a much better look for you.? He indicated the tattered remains of her shirt. Sandra just said nothing, saving her energy for stopping his next assault. Watching him warily as he studied her before making his next move.

Once they returned, the servant in question would be sure to deliver it personally to Macey, the potionist shop would include her instructions making it unnecessary for Macey to remember what she had told her. She was almost to the bottom of the stairs leading to one of the hallways that ran along the gardens when movement caught her eye and she saw both Vincent Achard and Alexander come in from outside. Vincent, who hadn?t seen her simply headed off into the estate while Alexander, with a smile, came over to join her. ?Is Macey alright?? ?Yes, it?s mostly just fatigue catching up with her, along with the stress of the explosion and Grandfather being missing.? Alecia took his left arm with her own and started walking down the hallway towards the main living room. ?Macey just needs some time to rest and take it easy.? ?As do you love.? He reminded her. ?Once we?ve checked for news, I agree. Even though the cool air woke me up a bit I?m still feeling tired.? Alecia turned her head a bit at the sound of voices coming their way, puzzled as to who it could be as one of them she did not recognize. She halted and turned completely to wait for whoever it was. A moment later, she had her answer as Harriet, Catherine, Lady Bavaria and her father Agron Deacon came around the corner. Upon seeing the two of them, each group headed to greet one another. Alecia had met Lady Bavaria on many occasions, but in all honesty, she didn?t really know her that well since she was gone most of the time, residing in the Anovan capitol due to her work as an ambassador. ?Have you heard any news Alexander?? Catherine asked them once they were close enough, telling both Alecia and Alexander that nothing new had been discovered in regards to Leonhart. Alexander just shook his head negativity. ?I?m afraid there?s been no news here at Rosengard either,? Harriet said quietly. For a brief awkward moment Alecia and Bavaria simply stared at one another until Alecia took the initiative, moving to hug her tightly. ?It?s good to see you Grandmother.? She said before letting go and standing back. Bavaria tilted her head to the left ever so slightly as she looked at Alecia and then Alexander, ?This must be Alexander,? She extended her hand and shook his firmly when he answered affirmatively. ?Congratulations to both of you and my apologies that I was unable to attend your wedding.? ?That?s not necessary Grandmother,? Alecia said with a smile and then changed the subject. ?Will you be staying long?? ?Not tonight as I have other engagements this evening.? Bavaria replied politely. ?In fact, I?m afraid I will need to leave soon.? ?That?s a shame,? Alecia replied, uncertain as to what to say. ?Well if you do have the time to attend dinner at Rosengard, we?d love to have you here.? ?Don?t worry dear,? Catherine interjected. ?We?ll be sure to let you know if that?s the case so you and Alexander won?t miss out.? She looked to Lady Bavaria and then back at the two. ?If you?ll excuse us, as Bavaria said she doesn?t have much time.? Alecia nodded. ?Of course, take care Grandmother.? She said as the group moved to head around them and continue with what they had been doing. A moment later they were gone. ?Well that went better than I thought it would.? Alexander spoke up once it was clear they were out of hearing range. ?Why do you say that?? Alecia asked as they continued for the main doors of Rosengard. ?It?s just that.? He paused turning a bit red. ?Well?? He squirmed a bit. Alecia poked him in the side as they walked outside. ?Out with it Alexander!? She commanded him in a mock serious voice. ?It?s just that it?s pretty clear that Dame Anna and most of Leonhart?s kids despise her, and you never talk about her so I wondered if you felt the same.? He finally said a bit sheepishly. ?Oh Alex!? Alecia laughed. ?I barely know her!? She looked forward as they left through the gates of Rosengard and headed down the street towards their home. ?I?ve always preferred to try and at least know someone before I form an opinion of them, and I can?t imagine Grandfather loving someone who was unkind or cruel.? ?I?m sure your right.? Alecia poked Alexander in the side again and mock glared at him. ?Hey!? He protested, pulling away a tiny bit. ?Of course I am.? She told him in her best imitation of being serious, only to break down and laugh at Alexander?s mock offended look from being poked. She smiled when he put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close when she finally stopped laughing. A moment later the two of them were home and Alexander helped Alecia out of her cloak before heading to the kitchen to have a brief word with the housekeeper while Alecia headed to their bedroom to change out of her potionists uniform. She hadn?t realized just how tired she was as she struggled with the catch for the wrap at her waist, attempting to get it undone and yet failing to do so. She was debating whether or not to ask Alexander to help her when she heard the door to their bedroom open and then close. And then footsteps approaching her in the small walk in dressing room to the side of the main bedroom. Alecia turned to face Alexander and ask for his help but he beat her to her request by pulling her close and wrapping his arms around her so they were touching, face to face, his hands moving to get the stubborn clasp at the small of her back. ?Let me help you with that.? He whispered as he moved to kiss her.

I think this is the heart of the problem with the debate between the two of you, both of you are looking for and on some level finding the extreme in the others arguments leading to the statement of 'your wrong' instead of seeing the general point the other is making here. 20. Celestia knew she shouldn't do it, that she should leave the exploit that she had found alone. But when the fleet stopped at the border between sectors seven and eight and Jason was moved briefly to assist with something else on the other side of the main computer lab, she found herself tempted to take a look. Curious as to what was going on other than the rumor that their next stop was to retake sector eight. It was probably one of the few chances she would have to do such a thing since it was rare for her to be at the terminal for her and Jason by herself. She glanced around by virtue of stretching a bit and then went into the system, only to stop and stare at the screen in shock. Someone else was actually using the exploit at that very moment! Without thinking about it her fingers flew over the console as she input the necessary command to access one of her programs she had used to hack the update system when she was on Earth, before her and Jason had been captured. It was instinctive as she used it to be able to follow along and look at what the other person was doing, noting how information was carefully placed into the communication system to be sent out in fragments at different intervals. If anything it only made her assumption that the person was a member of the Resistance more likely. It could have been someone up to no good or into the black market, but the nature of the information being sent was clearly something that would benefit the New Alliance more than any black market dealer. Celestia hesitated before she did one more thing, and the moment she did and the answer came back... In a panic she hastily closed the program and fought the urge to shake. Oh gods... I should not have done that. With only the greatest of effort was Celestia able to not lose it right then and there. Of all things, she had never expected it to be that person! I can't say anything, she thought. Not even to Jason! She went back to working on doing more of the final checks for the new update system, muttering and cursing under her breath when a voice behind her nearly caused her to jump through the ceiling of the computer lab. "What are you complaining about?" Celestia whirled as if she had been shot, finding Kenath standing behind her. Had he seen what she had just been doing? Damn! She tried to speak but nothing came out, causing Kenath to sigh with exasperation. "This is what comes from pampering slaves," He said with a sneer. "Well this time we won't have any of this nonsense where the two of you retire to your quarters when we retake sector eight." What is he talking about? Celestia wondered. He's still acting as if I made that choice on my own when it was Dr. Matheson who ordered it! "Dr. Matheson won't be around and Sub-Commander Drace's orders are quite clear, you will not be shirking your duties like you did last time." He said sternly. "Now, I asked you a question, what are you complaining about?" She opened her mouth and started to reply only to freeze in terror upon seeing someone heading their way. No... Oh Gods... With a half sob she tried to move backwards only to fall out of the chair and slam into the terminal behind her. Banging her head painfully into the part that jutted out a bit. Kenath was forgotten as she focused on the person approaching. She couldn't stop the tears that started to flow down her face as she pressed back into the terminal and whimpered in fear. Why? Why did they have to put us on the same ship? The thought occurred to her that they were there to take Jason from her, but she was too frightened to even turn and look to see if Jason had noticed them. "For the love of?!" Kenath exclaimed as he threw his hands into the air. "What the hell is the matter with you now?" "I would imagine," An amused voice said, causing Kenath to turn and see who had spoken, "That this is Celestia's way of showing how thrilled she is to see me again." "Commander Scorer!" Kenath came to attention. "I'm sorry sir! I didn't realize..." "At ease Kenath, our meeting isn't for another ten minutes." Jared smirked a bit. "However I couldn't help but overhear your comments as to the orders regarding Celestia and Jason. You do realize that Dr. Matheson was following the High Council's orders, correct?" Kenath moved to respond but Jared motioned for him to be silent. "I'll make it clear for you Kenath, when it comes to orders for these two, they come straight from the High Council and Sub-Commander Drace lacks the authority to countermand their orders, do I make myself clear?" "Yes sir!" "Good, because I'm sure you don't need me to explain the penalty for going against the High Council do I?" He said in a tone of voice indicating the foolishness of such a move. "N.. No sir!" Keneath replied, his voice quavering. Jared just turned his attention back to Celestia, looking down at her. If she hadn't been so petrified, Celestia would have attempted to run, but instead, all she could do was watch and wait. Sitting there on the floor, leaning against the terminal so hard that if it were possible, she would have sunk into it. All the while hoping that Jared would simply leave. Wishing she could be brave and yet failing as Jared looked down at her. "Celestia!" A panic stricken voice called out, causing her to finally break from watching Jared to turn her head and see Jason standing to the side a little further back, his hands tightly clenched as he fought his own fear of Jared to finally make a dash and stand between them, shaking with the effort. "It seems that I am unwelcome." Jared said with a smile. "No matter, I am not here for either one of you." He turned to Kenath. "I have better things to do than remind you about the proper chain of command." He admonished him. "Of course sir!" Kenath hurried towards his office with Jared close behind. The moment the doors to Kenath's separate office closed, Jason felt his legs give out and he collapsed to his knees next to Celestia. Pulling her close to him and holding her tightly, ignoring the looks of the crew. None of them could possibly understand why they were so upset.

It had been hard to say nothing as other colleagues either complimented her on her apparent promotion while others were clearly envious and bitter. Alecia could only wonder what their reaction would be when they found out the true reason for it. By the time she got done getting started on taking over for Dr. Victor Rawlings, she was utterly exhausted. She still had more than enough energy to give Alexander a warm smile when he greeted her and she took his arm, heading towards the nearest train station. "Take me home Alexander," she whispered. "If I hear one more false pleasantry in regards to my promotion or about Grandfather's death. I'll end up smashing one of my potions over their head." Alexander chuckled and reached over and squeezed her arm reassuringly. "As much as I'd love to, wouldn't it be a better idea to go to Rosengard first like we discussed at lunch?" "I know, I know." Alecia sighed as they continued down the street and then finally entered the station, getting on the train that was waiting. Like always the cars were near capacity as many people were returning home after a long day at work. Any other time Alecia would have spent the time chatting with Alexander about her day at work or his, but this time, once they sat down she simply leaned into him once he put his arm around her shoulders. With a tiny sigh she closed her eyes only to be startled by Alexander gently shaking her shoulder. With a start she opened her eyes only to realize that she had fallen asleep and that they were at their stop near their home. Alexander helped her get up as Alecia was still a bit sleepy, but once they were out of the train and walking up the street towards Rosengard, the beginning of a cool nights breeze helped her to wake up completely. They came to the point were one direction went to their home, the other to Rosengard. "Perhaps it would be best if we do go home, you've never fallen asleep on the trip home before." Alecia stifled a yawn. "True, but for some reason, that short little nap made me feel better." She smiled up at him. "Lets at least stop by and see if there is any news. If I'm still tired, we can come home after that." Decided the two of them headed up the street and then through the gates into Rosengard. They were almost to the main doors when Fauntleroy came strolling out to meet them. "Alecia, just the person I was looking for." He stopped and gave her an odd look as he noticed that she was wearing a different uniform. "And here I thought you still had a while to go before you were done with your residency." Alecia started to explain and then changed her mind, remembering that Fauntleroy worked for the paper and that she had been instructed to keep things quiet for the moment. "Did you need something Uncle?" She sidestepped the question in regards to her residency. But she knew she had not fooled him by the look in his eyes, but for whatever reason he dropped it. "Macey is not feeling well, could you go and take a look at her?" "Of course, I take it she's in her room?" She waited for him to nod before turning to Alexander. "Why don't you wait for me with the others? As soon as I'm done I'll come and join you." "Of course." Alexander said before heading towards the main doors with Fauntleroy. Once the two were gone, Alecia turned and headed for another door off to the left a bit, one that would take her to where Macey's room would be. It didn't take her long to find the stairs that led up to where her room was. Alecia was almost there when she ran into someone else heading for Macey's room, the boy who had been there the other night. The one that Macey had referred to as her assistant. But Alecia didn't remember his name. "Are you Alecia?" He asked her hesitantly and then continued when she nodded. "Fonty said he'd send you up." He opened the door to Macey's room for her and then closed it once both of them were inside. "And you are?" Alecia inquired as she moved to check on Macey who was starting to stir from the noise they had made upon entering the room. "I'm Gadget." Alecia was wondering what it was about Gadget that seemed off until Macey caught her attention, thanking her for coming. She put Gadget out of mind and turned instead to checking Macey over. Asking her a number of questions as she did so. It was clear that she was exhausted, but at the same time it was also clear that she had been exposed to something. Something that considering her job, did not surprise Alecia, she had treated others from the labs for similar symptoms. "I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that you've overworked yourself." Alecia said, earning a tired chuckle from Macey, "However it's also clear that you've got some sort of toxicity going on here. I won't bore you with the details just as I won't need to ask you to allow some tests if you'll simply tell me what chemicals you've been working with lately." She could see the hesitation in Macey's eyes and she understood it, after all, it was likely that most of her research was top secret. "You don't need to tell me what you were doing and the knowledge of just what chemicals you were working with would of course remain confidential." She assured her. "You see, I'd like to recommend something to mix in your regular tea that would help to neutralize the toxicity, but to do that I need to know exactly what you've been working with along with an approximate amount so I'll know the level of exposure as well." Macey looked over at Gadget for a moment and then back at Alecia before rattling off a long list of chemicals along with some numbers, something that Alecia couldn't help but notice seemed to go over Gadget's head a bit as he looked confused. When she was done, Alecia reached into her pocket, pulled out a small notepad and pencil and began to write down the necessary compounds as well as the dosage, frequency and potential side effects. Which in this case, initially, would cause drowsiness. "I'm going to go and give this to the staff so someone can run to the closest shop and have this made up for you. The first time or two it's likely to make you sleepy, but after that it won't have that effect." She smiled as she reached over and gently grasped Macey's shoulder. "Just take it until it's gone and let me know if you have any trouble alright?" "Thank you dear." Macey said as she closed her eyes. Alecia turned to Gadget, bade him farewell and then left, heading to find one of the servants responsible for running the errands of this nature. As she walked along the hallways of Rosengard, she couldn't help but think about Gadget. There was something about him that was off though without being able to exam him she couldn't be certain. But if he really was Macey's assistant, then it was likely that he had been exposed to the same chemicals that Macey had. With a shake of her head Alecia put it out of mind.
  22. Well I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, I know for some of you, school has already started again and some it begins next week. XP For now, those in the Empire, have their assignments. But those in the New Alliance, other than inwardscream who has his objectives in regards to having been left on Earth, the rest of you, other than things mentioned in previous posts, you're free to roam around on the home world in sector eleven while repairs are being done to the Liberator. For Kreid that could entail meeting with Daniel as indicated to learn his assignment is permanent as well as going to the surface, after all, it's likely that there are other agents there. And with so many officers on leave as well, that leaves all sorts of interesting possibilities up in the air. What with all the dangerous criminals around. For Kiva that could entail finally talking to Dalek. Kreid and Kiva could even run into one another, though chances that they know one another is slim since they are from totally different sections of the Elite Forces. I leave that up to both of you should you chose to have a little fun with that. There is going to be something happening in just a bit that will set the next phase in motion. In the meantime, in the confusion of so many soldiers on leave on the planet, there is a distressing possibility that some of those on leave could end up running into misfortune as a result of someone like Dr. Phantaxian, or one of his many copycats. :p So basically, you're all open to do whatever you want for a just a little bit since everyone is in a bit of downtime between assignments. Well other than perhaps Daniel who's work is never done. Anyway, once a few more things happen, since some of you have a few loose ends to tie up or to get started... at that point we'll get the next phase underway.

We've kept the specifics of alchemy intentionally vague so far, but if anyone needs clarification feel free to ask. Sorry to sound nit-picky. -Shy :whoops:

Funny thing is, despite having so many talented alchemists, not one of us have done any alchemy yet, well aside from D'Ann.
Meh, it's not going to happen with my character. lol I wasn't really planning on it since I got the impression from the very beginning that the alchemy skills wouldn't be of that nature. So to have it pop up is a wtf deal, seriously. It seems out of place since it hasn't been in the rpg at all until now. Anyway, the only thing my character would be able to do is perhaps sense when others are sick or rather what their sickness is, but that is something one can pick up from careful training and observation, not from some innate ability. :p

Apparently they?d snuck out using secret vanishing ninja powder around the time Charles and Heaven?s Cloud had started a rap battle.
Haha, that's so true... I would so sneak out during a rap battle. XP Anyway, I've been enjoying reading this. :catgirl:
  25.
Finally, I think everyone's morals and views should be expressed, not forced. I don't know why you do not want to openly make a stance on the subject. I think more input from more people gives better insight (well, more *intelligible* people). It lets others adjust their views, think about topics. For example, I thought about Retribution's statements, and I don't think we disagree at all about what prostitution is and what its effects are. I think we just disagree on what should be done about it (i.e., his "live and let live" vs my "die f###ing die").
I'm sorry if I'm not being clear, but that is my stance. I use to get all fired up and oppose certain things like this, but then I got tired of people using their moral beliefs to dictate to others what they should be doing. I use to think that other than marriage any form of sex was unacceptable and yet at the same time, I was limited by the narrow view I had by only understanding what I had been taught in the religion I was raised in. Now, I've left religion behind and learned to try and be more tolerant since it's clear that a lot of people see things differently, myself included. I personally think it's a bad idea since my views on sex is that I think it should only be with someone you actually care about. Plus I know that even though it's hard to not have money for fun stuff, there are programs out there to help you when you're struggling. So it's not necessary to turn to prostitution to make a living. Granted it may not be as comfortable as one would want, but you can survive without it. I guess what I'm getting at is if I'm okay with sex outside of marriage, then why would I object to consenting adults using it to make a living? It seems hypocritical to say one is okay and not the other. Though like I said, I think it's better if it's only with someone you actually care for. I know I wouldn't want to have sex with total strangers, even if they were paying for it. Now mind you, when I saw I'm not openly for it or openly against it... if the state, not Utah since it will never happen here, were to attempt to make it legal without putting something in place to regulate it and help protect those who actually do decide to do it. In that case I would openly oppose it. I'm against exploitation so I won't turn a blind eye to something of this nature if it's clear that they aren't doing enough to protect those who chose to do it.
