Alright, I've updated the first post with a cast list and a link to each individual sign up. Because if you're like me... I'm lazy and hate having to go and hunt for something. I like having it all in one place or at the very least all the links to the info in one place. Anyway, like I said in the Sign Up thread, this will be open through the weekend and then next week we'll get things going. You'll know since in addition to the thread going up I'll be sending everyone their first objectives. :catgirl: Though if you have any questions before we get going definitely let me know. EDIT: Alright as you can see the main thread is up. Everyone has been sent their objectives. The only thing I need you to wait on is for Aaryanna_Mom to post. Just as I set up the starting point for those on the side of the Empire, she will be setting the stage for the Resistance. I have already discussed this with her so that post will go up later today. If there are any questions by all means send me a pm or simply post here. Those who were in the last installment already know that you are welcome to put your own ideas in with the basics that I sent you. Those are only main events not the only ones, so definitely feel free to add ideas of your own. That's what made the first installment so much fun, all the great stuff everyone came up with. :catgirl:

Banner by Aaryanna Today was unique, in so many ways. For not only did it mark the return of full power to the High Council, and the appointment of the newest members to replace those who had been executed for treason, it also was the day that the push to retake the sectors that had broken off would begin in earnest. Stevens, as he stood in the grand chamber in the Council Center along with the other newest members to be inducted into a full Council member, gave Sandra the tiniest of satisfied smiles as they were required to recite the oath as one who would serve loyally and rule with the best if the Versilan Empire in mind. It was also a day to be remembered for never before had a member been appointed who had not served as a candidate for the position on the High Council for at least ten years first. Stevens had already served as a candidate for over five years, but Sandra less than one. Still as they stood there, now fully dressed in the darker blue and silver that only members of the High Council could wear, it was a sight that made Stevens smile a little more as they finally came to a close, the proceedings finally ending. Once again the Council was fifty strong and those Council members who had dared to betray the trust of the people had been dealt with. As the meeting ended and everyone began to mingle to chat and gossip about the latest news in regards to the sectors that had broken off, Fleet Admiral Stevens and Commodore Sandra left the Council Chamber to head for the main transport door to return to the Conqueror and the Creator. Two of the five flag ships of the Versilan space forces. Idle gossip and congratulations were of no concern when it was time to take the fleet that had been gathering in sector one and head for the first sector they would retake. There was far too much to be done now that the borders had been secured as much as possible. They had to stop the attempts by the former Resistance and the dissenting sectors to take over those sectors who had remained loyal to the Empire. No one could have foreseen that the Resistance would back the sectors that had broken off. For all intents and purposes all of them were traitors and considered a part of the Resistance no matter how they tried to claim they were merely accepting their help in stopping those who were ruling unjustly. It was a bit unsettling how easily so many sectors had broken off and allied themselves with the first sector to break off, sector nine, home of the four factions of the High Council who?s ancestry had become mixed with those of the lesser races, who?s only purpose was to serve the Versilan Empire. ?Is everything ready?? Stevens asked Sandra as they walked through the massive corridor leading to where the transport door was located. ?Other than the transfer of my newest sub-commander Vallon Drace, all is ready. Once the envoy sent to retrieve him arrives and the remaining briefings have been done we can begin retaking the dissenting sectors.? Sandra did not bother to glance at Stevens as they approached the permanent transport door. The security there already making the call to both flag ships upon seeing them approaching to request the transport door to be opened. ?I have another order for you Sandra.? Stevens said as they came to a halt right before where the door would appear. ?I need you to transfer Shipping Expert Darren Anderson and his sister Kerstin to the Conqueror.? He smiled when she turned at last to finally face him, her expression guarded. ?Why?? She asked reluctantly, sensing perhaps that Stevens, as always, was toying with her. ?I have my reason?s dear Sandra and Council member or not, I am not required to explain them to you.? Stevens grinned at the flash of irritation that crossed her face before it was quickly hidden. ?Very well then Admiral, I?ll have them transferred immediately.? Sandra said with a slight mocking bow before turning and stepping through the door of light that had appeared. Then a moment later when the door had been reset to go to the Conqueror, Stevens gave the security the briefest of nods before he too stepped through and then immediately headed for the bridge of the Conqueror. Even if most of the preparations had been done, there was still much to be taken care of before they left. He pulled out his hand held computer and opened it up, turning it on so he could start reviewing the information on the resources available as well as the military that had remained loyal to the Empire. He along with James, the Commander of the Elite forces, had already set into motion missions and tasks to ensure their success in taking the Resistance apart from the inside. They might have the advantage of numbers over those who had broken away, but it would be sheer foolishness to rely on that edge. Four of the five flagships of the Empire were in sector one and the fifth one was suppose to be on it?s way but had yet to arrive. Once the final ship arrived along with any other personnel they would begin. With yet another satisfied smile Stevens closed his hand held computer as he entered the bridge and sat down at the command chair overlooking the bridge. A few short commands to the crew and then he accessed his terminal to review other reports that required his attention as well as to issue any orders that required his authorization.

So how is the quality of the RPGs being posted? Does it stack up to what you knew of the past RPGs posted in OB?
I have to agree with the others, there is always something good running, or at least that is what I have noticed since I became more active in RPG's. I can't answer about the past though since I wasn't involved then, at least not enough to really say one way or the other.
What do RPers want these days? What elements of an RP do you look at before signing up?
I think the others said it well, it really depends on the person. There are plenty of RPG's out there that don't interest me at all. Because they aren't the type of story I feel inspired to play a character as. Like Aaryanna mentioned, I'd never join a Naruto RPG since I don't like the show enough.
When you look at signing up to an RPG, does it matter who posted it?
Once again the others nailed this pretty good. Who made it doesn't really matter, what does is consistency and commitment. I've seen far to many enjoyable RPG's, ones that I never joined but enjoyed reading, simply die due to either lack of participation by the people who joined or the person who created it. I look more for what I would enjoy playing in as well as whether or not the host or those who joined will be a part of it. I'm not so interested in perfect storytelling or even a story that is perfect. I want to have fun so I really look for things like that. Their name or how long they have been here is really meaningless in my opinion.
As an RPG writer, do you write for your audience (prospective RPers), or do you write a story that you want to personally want to roleplay and hope others find it interesting?
I've only done one RPG and I'm starting on the next installment of that RPG. But going from what I learned while doing it, it was a story I did because it interested me and it turned out that it was interesting to others. I didn't go into it with the mindset of making it interesting to others since the first story was independent of any RPGing aspects. However, once it did move into an RPG, I learned real quick that it was necessary to allow a lot of leeway for things to change since it was no longer just my story anymore. There were a lot of things that I did not plan on that ended up in the story and in the end that has made it very enjoyable since seeing the creativity of the others really brought it to life.
And, have you ever given thought to what consequences (both positive and negative) your RPs have on your audiences' lives?
Yes and no. Yes in that I wondered how people would react to certain changes, but no in that on some level I had a certain goal that was required to stay true to the overall story. If that makes sense. The biggest thing I worried about was making sure people weren't frustrated by anything I did. As a host it was my job to make sure things were going as smoothly as possible. And that included making sure I had things planned out in advance. Well as much as you can plan that is.
For instance, someone makes a character very close to their heart (is very close to their real life self) and they watch how their character interacts with others. I'm not sure if I worded that so you guys can understand what I mean, but I did my best. You guys are giving me an important insight to my audience. ;)
I'm not sure if I fully grasp what you are getting at, but I RPG for fun really, and don't create characters who are close to my real self. I do love my characters and the story, but at the same time I try to not make them too real since I want to enjoy playing something different than who I really am. I do know that it's hard to try and make sure people are happy with how things go, but at the same time... It's still unavoidable that you can't make everyone happy. Though I would hope that if anyone ever felt like I was not being true to their character they would say something. It's a thing that ties into the negative and positive aspect, you want people to have a positive one so you hope that they would step forward instead of being frustrated and saying nothing or simply quitting. Anyway XP I hope that answers your questions a little. :catgirl: I really appreciate the kind comment from both Sandy and Shy in regards to Silver One, but the truth is, without the dedication and creativity of those who are in it, it wouldn't be successful. ^_~ So it really is a team effort between the creator and the players.

I obviously have no intention of posting again so soon, but did you want us to wait until everyone has posted at least once? Illyria words about love and madness being but a deception of the heart and mind still was foremost on Bellana's mind as the other gods conversed among themselves. All this time and Illyria still cannot see the difference between true love and trickery. If she were prone to such a thing she would have sighed. For those who truly did love... Bellana brushed the thought aside, turning her attention back to the others. Her card carefully prepared Bellana began to study the champions to determine just who to give her power to. But then she decided to hold of just a tiny bit, to wait and see what the others would do. It would be wise to wait on those who so far had been silent and not voiced their opinion. She smiled a bit at Raone who was still looking ever so serious about his intent to create a righteous world. It was, in it's own way, amusing. Raone with his inability to see the truth in even his own willingness to engage in deception to gain truth. The irony of such a thing was not lost on Bellana, such was the nature of temptation, for it was more than of the flesh. I wonder which one here will be the first to fall to it? Bellana turned her attention to the board before them, watching the souls who were being called forth to the Ragnarok. "Hello! Anyone there?" Ira called out, desperately seeking a voice, any voice as she stumbled through the ruins of what was once the store she worked in. It had been hours since the earthquake that had caused the building to fall apart. She could have sworn that a section of the building had landed on her directly. The horrible feeling of her neck breaking along with the following sensation of falling into darkness had been unmistakable, but she had woken up underneath the sturdy metal desk in the main manager's office, covered by a thick layer of dirt. Unharmed by the debris. Luckily she had been able to get out from under the debris, and start to attempt to work her way out of the store, but most if not all of the sections were blocked by the devastation. Where are the authorities? Surely she would have heard someone attempting to search the building by now! But it was deathly silent as she stumbled over destroyed walls and bits of the ceiling strewn all over the place. But what puzzled her more than anything was the absence of bodies. Not that she wanted to see someone who had been crushed, but how had all of them managed to escape? Ira had barely even realized what was happening before she had thought that she had been crushed by a part of the ceiling falling on her. What is going on? She thought desperately. Finally Ira came to what looked like an undamaged door leading out of the store. Holding back the tears that threatened to flow, she ran to open the door and step outside. I hope the others made it out too!

Discuss Shinigami Dance: Playground of Deities
SunfallE replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Theater

Oi. Great idea, yall. Rach, that was a cool post. I'm gunna do the start of the next chapter tommorrow, so if you've got anything else to get out of the way before stuff gets serious, do it swiftly.
And done, short and to the point since all I was doing was reuniting Alex and Lucia who are now headed towards Nathan and then the rest of the Shinigami. Though whether or not they manage to get together with the others before the next thing happens is up to you of course. Heh. Oh and I agree, that bit by Allamorph and Rach was cool. I don't know a lot about Gregorian Chants since I haven't had a music history class in a long time, but still that was a nice angle and I enjoyed reading it. -
"Lucia!" Ruby called out excitedly as the illusion was broken and faded away. "Everyone is here! Even Aeru!" Lucia just smiled as she waited for Alex and Nall as she could clearly sense them coming in her direction. Now that the spell had been broken they could finally do what they came here to do. And though their orders had said nothing about the Count, if he was capable of weaving such a powerful spell, leaving him alive would be sheer foolishness. After what had just happened it was clear that the information that he intended to do away with the Shinigami was accurate. Not that she had doubted that, only his ability to actually do so. The only thing that still troubled her was the presence of the distortion field she had detected earlier along the outer walls of the mansion. It was still present, keeping them locked within the mansion, indicating that the illusion was but one of probably many traps. We were foolish, blindly assuming our superiority over vampires. It was a mistake she would not make again. She turned at the sound of Alex and Nall entering the hallway outside the dinning room doors, doors that in spite of her battle with the wraiths was intact. Indicating that though the illusion was real on some level, it still had been nothing more than an illusion. A very dangerous one at that. "Lucia! Ruby!" Alex called out as he joined them. "Your alright!" He came to a halt just in front of the two, smiling broadly. "Of course, thanks to Nathan and then your efforts in using what you could of the Grand Hymn." Lucia turned and started heading towards Nathan who was now the closest one of the Shinigami in the mansion. "The distortion field sealing us in this place however is not gone. We would do best to regroup and then deal with the Count." She continued along the hallway ignoring the presence of the vampires who were but children and scattered as she approached. They were not the real threat, though they would need to be dealt with. "Also, haven't you noticed that even though the illusion is gone, the Count's presence is still hidden? After what happened we would be wise to not be so overconfident and foolish as to think that the illusion is the only danger here." Alex gave off a nervous laugh. "I know Lucia and trust me I won't." Lucia just shrugged as she continued on her way, now lost in the thought of what they would need to do to dispel the barrier around the mansion itself. Though in a way, so long as the Count was inside, breaking it did not matter, dealing with him did.

Nicknames... how did you get them?
SunfallE replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Well I seem to have picked up a new nickname. It started as a joke online when BKstyles called me a Ruthless Little Sunflower during an rpg we were part of. It sort of stuck and I get called that by various friends here, but then that somehow managed to end up transferring over in real life and now I get called Cute Little Sunflower as well. lol That's the first time I've had a nickname that started online and ended up being changed a bit and used off line as well. Lovely, first the doors and now the engines? How can this be happening? Kendra thought as she hurried through the corridors of the Argo Navis. She had already looked at the engines as well as the specifications while they had been traveling. The very idea that they would even encounter readings like she had seen was to be frank, absurd. It has to be something with the readout or the data input from the engines. Because if it really was the engines, they'd be in far more trouble than dealing with gravitational anomalies and an abandoned space station. Moments later, with a swipe of her IDT tag the doors to the engine room opened to admit Kendra. Well at least the door seem to be working, she thought as she immediately went straight to the diagnostic terminal. Kendra took a seat as the LCD display lit up and the system began to cycle through the load up screens. Then once it was up she began requesting information on the status of the engines. One by one each system came back as operating normally, the unexplained readings A.J. had gotten on the bridge did not match with what she was getting at the source. But when she also checked the data feed to the bridge, it too showed as operating normally. What in the world? Confused Kendra got up to go and get some independent scanning equipment she had brought with her, to make sure that the fault was not with the equipment on the Argo Navis. She hadn't gotten around to moving it from her quarters to the engine room since it wasn't really necessary. But when she got up and tried to leave, it was with great surprise that she literally ran into the doors when they failed to open. Annoyed to no end, Kendra reached up with her left hand and pressed the manual override for the doors to open, but just as Brianna had mentioned, the words insufficient power flashed across the screen of the tiny little terminal in the wall next to the doors. "You've got to be kidding me!" She said, exasperated when a second and third attempt got the same results. But when a fourth time yielded no results other than the error message she threw her hands up in disgust and went back to the terminal to contact the bridge. "Great, just great!" Kendra muttered to herself as she attempted to contact the bridge. But even the com link in the engine room was down as the terminal for checking the engines shut down and the words insufficient power came up in red letters across the screen. Frustrated Kendra tried repeatedly to get out of the engine room as well as attempting to get the terminal to turn back on, if something really was wrong, they were in serious trouble! She had to warn Marcus before him and the others ended up stranded on the space station! Fifteen minutes later, she sat back down. "Now what?" She said to herself. "Obviously it seems that there is some sort of power drain, but where is it coming from?" Kendra shook her head as she got back up, she knew where it had to be coming from, the space station of course. "Alright." She said as she paced back and forth a tiny bit. "If I can't get out then I need to check what I can without getting the equipment." Decided she turned and went over to open the access panel that would let her get inside the maintenance tunnels for the main engines. It was over to the right of the terminal and along the bottom edge of the thick clear material that separated her from the main view of the engines themselves. Well what she could see of them from inside the room that is. Most if not all of the actual engines themselves were out of sight. She could only see the foremost part that was up against the diagnostic area. The rest was accessible though the maintenance tunnels. It was pointless to provide more open space for getting to the actual engines when the type of repairs that needed such space also required the larger equipment at most space stations. Only the battle ships of the military wasted such space since being able to do all repairs was essential. But on the Argo Navis, they didn't have the crew for such repairs anyway. So the extra space would have been wasted when they would be using local space stations when needed for upkeep as well as the unlikely event that repairs were needed. Still, as she set the grate aside and fetched a small tool kit from the locker along the right wall, Kendra was surprised that she was even going into the maintenance tunnel at all. Class B-7 hyper drive systems were so reliable that actually needing to do repairs was unheard of. So long as you did regular upkeep they virtually ran without any issues. Kendra took a moment to check the doors as well as the terminal once again and then, upon getting no response from either one, with a sigh, she got down on her hands and knees and entered the tunnel. She'd have to check each section, one by one to see if the apparent power drain was coming from a malfunction instead of the space station. But as she crawled into the tunnel, she doubted that she'd find anything wrong.

More boyfriend/girlfriend advice wanted

Nah, not cold, just confused. You obviously just don't know me that well.
Definitely not cold and I wouldn't say confused either. For one thing, it's to easy to pretend there is interest when there really isn't any. I honestly think that gets people into trouble more than anything since they think they should care about getting to know their date more. I run into the same thing when it comes to dating and marriage. When it comes to being more serious... I have no interest at all since most if not all of the guys I've dated ended up being someone I just didn't connect to on that level. I don't think it means it can't or won't happen or that your indifferent, rather I think it's that your smart enough to realize that love or interest is more than initial attraction. I've only had a few guys where I wanted to know more, the rest, it just wasn't there. So I'll say I have no interest because honestly, most of the time I really don't. It's not that I intend to stay single, but rather I've made up my mind to take things as they come instead of trying to force it. -
Student Assaulted and Tasered at John Kerry Q&A
SunfallE replied to Zen's topic in General Discussion
Well ignoring everything said so far since I'm too lazy to quote people here... Between what I've read online, the police report and diving into this guys own websites and such. It was nothing more than him attempting to get attention without care or regard to anyone there, including the officers present since he clearly didn't care who was affected by all the nonsense he was doing for the benefit of cameras. If anything, he deserves a real sentence and a reality check for such immature behavior. Sounds like the one getting off lightly here is him instead of the law. -
*poke* Because I can... *poke* So Sandy will smack me... :catgirl: Anyway, I was talking to Shy on AIM about this and we were wondering what part the Gods would take beyond simply bestowing cards and such. Will they too be talking and reacting among each other? In their own thread from their position in the Immortal Realm? I certainly hope so since that would open things up for interesting storytelling on so many levels! XD I mean I know you said we'll be playing both, but I'm curious as to how much the Gods will fit into the picture. Heh.

The ones that get me the most are the movies based on a real psycho's story, it's a little hard to not get unnerved when you know that what you're seeing did at one time really happen to some poor soul. I'll admit that those do creep me out a little.
Those get me the most too. >_< I watched one about some sicko in Australia that would kidnap people, and the things he did to them? *shudder* The rest of the time, even with the blood and gore, it's hard to take it seriously since it isn't real. Though I'm not really a fan of Horror since most of the time it's kind of too predictable and boring. It doesn't help that many rely on the graphic aspect instead of real acting. As for it being okay to be so desensitized? It's kind of hard not to with how graphic movies, games and television shows are becoming. So in that context I'd say it's probably pretty normal. My parents never went on a parents only vacation. In all honesty, they were too messed up and busy fighting to even consider going on a vacation together. All that happened was shortly before I turned twelve they got divorced. I had friends who's parents would do that and at the time, I wondered why they were going off to argue elsewhere since I hadn't learned yet that not all parents fight like mine did.

My only habit is I won't watch it unless I have a couple of hours free. It's too easy to watch more than I really have time for, so unless I have a two hour time block open. I simply don't watch it at all. I prefer being able to watch 3-6 episodes at a time. Unless it's on TV, but with commercials and all I really don't watch anime on the regular channels. I'm old enough to remember when commercials didn't occur every five minutes or take up a good third of the show instead of only five minutes of the half hour time slot. I don't have the patience for all that advertising anymore. Especially when it's more than double what it use to be. XP So I guess that's my other habit, most of the time it's onDemand, DVD's or fansubs for me.

And since I'm getting too far off topic I'll leave it at that. Anyway, as much fun as I could have doing another post, I'm thinking it's best to wait on what Allamorph and Rach have planned. I've already established that Lucia is off on different tangents as to what's going on. And other than to worry about damaging the reality that the others are stuck in, she's giving them little to no thought at all. -
No worries Revolver, just work on being more active in the RPG that you are in. ^_~ Anyway, even though it will still be open through the weekend, here is my sign up. As of this moment I think everyone will fit in well into the story so I'll be updating the first post and adding a character sheet to the first post in the underground thread. Then you can expect this to start running next week. ^_^ Name: Celestia Lynn Henderson & Jason Eric Sanders Age: Celestia is 25 and Jason is 29. Gender: Jason is Male and Celestia is Female. Race: Jason is Human where Celestia is a mix since her mother was a human and her father a Versilan. Loyalty: The resistance. Description: Jason & Celestia Weapons: Although initially Jason studied martial arts with his sister Sara, after their parents died due to complications from cancer Jason focused more on computer programming instead. Since he became a member of the resistance he has been re-learning how to fight and how to use the most basic of laser and disruptor weapons. Other than the basics Celestia has no weapon skills. She’s in excellent shape but even after joining the resistance she has not learned more than how to use the most basic of Versilan weapons. Special Skills: Before his encounter with the Versilan race Jason graduated with high honors from College and then continued to obtain his masters and PhD degree in computers. He then worked for several major software programming companies before he applied for and was hired to work for Henderson Inc at age 26. Celestia’s, mother died when she was only four years old. She was placed in a state orphanage, as she had no living relatives on Earth. Celestia was one of many children who was run through the enhanced/speed learning programs by the resistance in an attempt to advance Earth’s technology enough so they could resist invasion. It was believed that the learning programs did not work and the resistance erased the memories of the children and left Earth. Being a Halfling, her memories were not completely erased. Later she wrote her first holographic program at age fifteen. Due to it’s success she then established Henderson Inc at age eighteen. She began construction of her gaming Silver One project at age 20. A program about humans fighting off aliens invading Earth who had silver colored eyes. Two years later she hired Jason Eric Sanders to assist in the final development and testing of the new phase of her holographic technology. Though Celestia is the smarter of the two, both of them use their skills as programmers to assist the resistance in their fight against the Versilan Empire. Personality: Though smart, Celestia is terribly shy when it comes to dealing with members of the opposite sex. Deep inside she’s very kind and friendly, but due to her financial success with her company she tends to be more standoffish as so many people were only interested in her money. Jason is also a bit on the shy and reserved side; he’s hard working and always follows through with what he’s been asked to do. Since he and Celestia were captured by the Versilan’s and then later rescued by the resistance, he has become almost driven in his desire to not only help the resistance but to protect Celestia as well. Short Bio: Initially Celestia along with Jason were captured by the Versilan Empire as they were preparing to invade Earth. Celestia didn’t realize that the knowledge on how to build holographic technology or that the details on how to prevent an invasion were from when she was run through the learning programs by the resistance. It was this that drew attention to her and Jason since her program was detected by the Versilan task force investigating Earth. Later both her and Jason were rescued by the resistance. After their rescue they were recruited into the ranks of the resistance to work as programmers. Since joining Celestia and Jason are responsible for most programs and technical advances for the resistance, leading to them becoming the most wanted individuals in the Versilan Empire. Both Celestia and Jason were on Earth when it was invaded, after the invasion they were later captured when the final main underground base was found and destroyed. They were shipped to sector one to work as slaves for the High Council. Normally slaves are not allowed to stay together, but before Civil War broke out changes that allowed family members to stay together were being implemented and since Jason and Celestia had exchanged simple vows and considered themselves married it was decided to keep them together. When the High Council was put under house arrest, Celestia and Jason were on the team breaking into the data vaults of different Council members since they refused to give their personal codes to access them. Now as the fleet in sector one is preparing to head to reclaim one of the sectors that has broken off, both Celestia and Jason have been transferred to the Creator to work in the computer labs on the ship.
How do you define an American Otaku? Or any Otaku, for that matter? What does it take to be one?
I couldn't really tell you since until a few years ago I had never even heard the term Otaku. It wasn't until later that I learned that it was more than someone who liked anime and manga. So to me, and American Otaku is simply someone who enjoys anime and manga. Not quite the same as the more negative association that I understand it gets in Japan. As far as I'm concerned, here in America all it takes to be one is to be a fan of anime or manga. Though the degree that you would be considered Otaku obviously depends on the level of fanship you have for it. In which case compared to others, I would be considered more of a casual Otaku since though I do enjoy it. I don't watch anime or read manga all the time, it's simply an enjoyable hobby. I spend more time here in the general discussions and rpg's that aren't even anime than I do in the anime aspect of this site.
It's such truth, though. Digitalboy practically controls the place behind the scenes.
Pfft! Love and adore do not translate into control. Still he is definitely well known here. :p
Now in America, I guess it might be a more positive term, meaning a devoted fan and I don't see anything wrong with it. Sometimes I question myself, "Am I an otaku?" Ah well. I'm on this website, replying in this topic, so...
Among everyone I know it is a positive term. It's really more like a catch phrase, a way to feel unique. Though I think most if not all of those I know who use it don't know what it really means. But then I suppose that's the fun of language being used in a different way than it's original meaning.
People here on OB are really nice, so maybe the term of otaku is slightly changing for me. I'm not going to be one of those "Ewww why do you call yourself an otaku?" people, ha-ha~ I don't mind when people call themselves otaku. I just don't really care for the word, lol.
It's interesting, ever since I learned of the phrase Otaku and what it really means, I've often wondered what English terms got picked up over in Japan and just how accurate it is as far as the context in which they use it. But I digress.

Fair enough, I guess the contention ratios are much higher than they are here in the UK =s How much does it cost you a month?
Well the monthly fee is $55, however, since I share it with three other people... I only pay $14 a month for it. Though since I do data entry work from home, I'd pay the $55 anyway, even if I wasn't networked with others, since I rely on the Internet for work. Especially since I end up being required to download material for work running around a full GB at a time. So having a connection that never takes more than 10 to fifteen minutes to download that when needed is nice.

It could be that your internet connection is 8mb, which denotes megabits rather than megabytes. 8 megabits = 1 megabyte (MB).
No, I have the same service and this is exactly what it says on their website for customers here in Utah:
With its incredible speed of over 8 megabytes per second, Comcast's high-speed Internet is a much better option for accessing the wealth of information and entertainment available online.
Like Aaryanna says, most of the time it works beautifully. Though the capacity issue is still giving me grief as well. I got kicked off twice this evening already. XP

Just a little more on the newest sign ups. ForestCrusader, your sign up has a slight issue that I've pm'd you about. Nothing that's a real problem, just a matter of the time line being adjusted slightly. Revolver, you can put up a sign up later, provided it's not too much later. Also, depending on how things go, I only promise to look it over, nothing more. I will give you a decision though, should you post a sign up. Anyway, I'll have mine up in a few days as well as finishing setting things up based on the new characters and then sometime next week I will launch it. ^_~
