Writing Veridan III - 4157 (second segment) [M-L]
SunfallE replied to Allamorph's topic in Creative Works
First of all I think you?ve got an interesting story here, there isn?t enough of it for me to truly gauge what I think of it, but I will address what seems off to me. The first thing is your use of empty space to make it seem as if the person is in a state of semi-consciousness, though it?s effective, it?s also a bit overdone and the constant need to scroll just to read a sentence or two was a bit distracting. Next I?ll address a couple of areas as listed here:
?Sixteen-hundred milligrams morphine sulfate,? he said curtly, extending his hand. The nurse with the hypodermic froze. ?Doctor!? she gasped. ?What are you thinking?? //Snip// ?Certainly,? the boy answered without a hint of misgiving. The major stepped to the table and extended his hand for the hilt, which the boy dutifully placed in the outstretched palm. The major stepped back a pace so as not to seem imposing. ?Now,? the lieutenant continued, ?let?s get down to business.? He turned to Michalson. ?Doctor, would you mind removing the rest of the restraints?? Michalson looked at the lieutenant dumbly. ?The restraints, doctor. If you please.? Michalson snapped out of his stupor and moved over to undo the harnesses still holding the patient?s lower body to the table. The major pulled up a chair for the young man and settled himself into another. John Doe sat, his demeanor placid. ?If I could have a moment with the boy, Doctor,? the major requested. Michalson nodded and motioned the nurses out of the room.
I?m kind of curious as to what the morphine sulfate is suppose to do. Only because I understood it to be a painkiller and not something that would stop the type of reaction he?s having, my medical knowledge is very limited and that part confuses me. The next part you switched from calling one character major and then to calling them lieutenant and then back to major again. Unless you actually are referring to two different people with that conversation, because I got the impression that other than the doctor and his staff there was only the major there. Other than that it?s certainly an interesting story and I?m curious to see where you go with it. ^_~ -

Also am I the only one who thinks it?s got a bit of a tomb raider and Indiana Jones feel to it? Not that I mind, it just seems so different with how it?s been done. It?s making it the most entertaining of the dungeons so far.
Nope. ^_~ I thought the same thing too when I was figuring out the dungeon. Especially the sections where you had to use your
lamp to protect yourself.
I?m about halfway through the fifth dungeon, but so far the fourth is still my favorite out of what I?ve done so far.
About the Cave of Ordeals, I'd recommend going through the first level when you find it, since that lets you
get fairies anytime you want at the Ordon spring.[/spoiler'] But don't bother going farther until you've beaten the seventh dungeon. Since each level past the first requires another dungeon item to progress, you can't actually complete it until you've beaten the seventh dungeon, and leaving part way through just makes you start over from the beginning.
That?s exactly what I did, and when I looked in the next room and saw that you needed an item you got from one of the dungeons I figured that I?d end up reaching the point where I would have to leave anyway. It was definitely worth doing the first part since it
lets you get fairies at the spring.
Like you mentioned. And since I'm not even done with the fifth dungeon, I'll take your advise and wait until after I beat the seventh. ^_~

I?ll second that, I?m a sucker for that sort of thing. Sometimes it seems like your story doesn?t have enough on exploring the relationship between those two, it?s something I hope you plan to expand on in the RPG. I know I?m already thinking on how I?m going to work on the relationship between the two characters you convinced me to play. ;)
It's definately something I intend to work on in the RPG. ^_~ And I certainly hope you do as well. Chapter thirty-two: ?Good morning Sub-Commander Jared,? Sandra said as Jared entered the bridge. ?I trust that everything is ready?? Jared sat down at his seat to her side and replied, ?Yes Commander, all the preparations are complete. Everything is included in the report I sent to you a few minutes ago.? Sandra pulled up the screen in front of her chair and briefly looked at the report. ?Good, I just received a signal indicating that the elite force has dropped out of hyper space. The ship will be here in a few minutes. The humans are still in sickbay waiting for you to collect them. I?ve been informed by the elite force that they will only be landing long enough to for you to board with the humans so have a good trip Jared.? Sandra smiled. ?At once Sandra,? Jared replied. He got up and left the bridge. His stuff for the trip was already waiting in the hangar bay. All he needed to do was collect both Celestia and Jason. Jared ordered some guards to be waiting at the hangar bay. He wouldn?t need any help to bring both of them down. Jared was almost to sickbay when the ship shuddered and all the lights went out. A split second later the emergency lights turned on. Just what the hell was going on? Jared tried to contact the bridge but even the communications were out. Something was wrong. Jared ran to the sickbay. Quickly he entered the manual override code and then forced the doors open. It was utter chaos in sickbay. Medical personal were working like crazy to get the equipment working again. A couple of them were attempting to open the security door to the room where Jason, Celestia and Daniel were. Jared had a bad feeling about what was happening. He ran towards the door to help them. Halfway there he was momentarily blinded by the light from a transportation door opening in the room where the prisoners were. Jared pulled out his laser gun and took aim at the observation window. Using the transportation door could only mean one thing. It wasn?t an elite force that was here, but rather a resistance ship bent on rescuing the humans. For the transportation door to be working meant that somehow they had disabled the ships systems and lowered the defense shields. He aimed to the top of the window, as he did not want to accidentally shoot Celestia, Jason or Daniel. The shot shattered the window sending pieces of the hardened plastic all over the people in the room. Four Versilan?s had come through the transportation door. Two of them had released Daniel from the restraints and were taking him through the transportation door. Jared fired hitting one of the rescuers. The other ones took aim at Jared and he was forced to dodge to avoid being shot. Jared took aim again and shot another one of the rescuers as he was going through the transportation door. He fell forward into the door which then shut behind him. Jared got up and went over to check. They had escaped! Damn them! Jared turned and left sickbay, he had to get to the bridge! It was utter chaos when Jared finally got to the bridge. Not only had the resistance completely disabled their ship but the other battleship as well. They had managed to restore a few critical systems, but they were still essentially helpless. Other than life support, basic communications and short-range scanners, everything was still offline. Not only had they managed to rescue Celestia, Jason and Daniel, but they had attacked Kim?s ship as well. According to the crew she had been forcibly dragged through a transportation door that had appeared on the bridge. A few of her crew had tried to help her only to be shot. No one had been killed as the resistance had only used the stun setting. But still, for them to be able to pull off what they had done was astonishing. Jared found it hard to believe. He worked furiously to help fix the ships systems. There was no way he was going to allow them to escape with Jason. He would hunt them down no matter where they went. Furious Jared hit the console at his seat on the bridge with such force that it shattered. Once he caught those responsible for taking Jason from him, they would pay dearly. Jared moved to another console to continue working on restoring the ships systems. Celestia didn?t know what to think when all the lights went out. Emergency lights came on and suddenly a transportation door opened right in the sickbay room! Before she could even react several Versilan?s came through. One of them ordered her and Jason to go through the door. Two of the others went over and started removing Daniel?s restraints. When Celestia hesitated one of them said, ?Move it!? When she didn?t move he grabbed her arm and started dragging her towards the door. The other one shoved Jason towards the door as well. Celestia was being pushed through when the observation window shattered sending pieces flying all over in the room. Startled Celestia turned around and stepped backwards at the same time. She raised her arms to shield her face from the flying fragments. When the fragments stopped hitting her arms she lowered them only to see Jared standing on the other side of the broken observation window. She cried out a warning as he fired, hitting one of the men moving Daniel. The other two turned and started firing back at Jared, forcing him to dodge. Instinctively Celestia caught the one who was shot, his weight caused her to step backwards several steps. She had barely stepped back through the transportation door when several other Versilan?s on the other side quickly took the injured one from her. One of them grabbed her arm and started to pull her away. Celestia fought him, ?Let me go! I have to get Jason!? She tried to pull free to go back through the transportation door, but before she had moved a step Jason came through the door followed closely by Daniel and two more of the Versilan?s. The last one was halfway through when he fell forward from being shot from behind. The transportation door shut and Celestia didn?t even get a chance to ask what was going on as several more guards arrived and dragged her and Jason and Daniel away. They were taken to what appeared to be quarters and locked in. Commander Kim opened a communication link to respond to the elite force?s signal. It was a simple request to send confidential information directly to her. The authorization code given was correct so she entered the code to unlock the system to allow the data transfer. The transfer of data had barely finished when suddenly everything went black. A split second later the emergency lights came on. What had just happened? Kim issued orders to the bridge crew to determine what had happened. She immediately attempted to access the data she had been sent. But nothing happened. Kim wondered if it had contained a virus, but if that were so then the elite force must have been taken over. When further checking showed that all the main data in the entire computer system appeared to be erased, she knew her hunch was correct. There was no way everything on the ship would crash and be deleted at the same time. Kim didn?t get the chance to speculate further as a transportation door appeared on the bridge. They were being boarded! She pulled out her weapon to fire but was hit by a stun blast, which caused her weapon to go flying. Kim tried to resist as several of the Versilan?s who came through the transportation door grabbed her and started dragging her towards the door. Several of her officers tried to stop them only to be stunned by the assailants. Kim struggled but she was too weakened by the stun blast. Why in the world would they go to such lengths to kidnap her? It made no sense! She could understand them trying to rescue the humans, especially since she had read the report regarding how smart Celestia was, but her? What possible use could they have for her? Kim winced as she was dragged through the transportation door. They took her to an officer?s quarters and upon opening the door shoved her into the room. She was still partially paralyzed from the stun blast and she fell to the floor unable to move. Kim heard the sound of the door shutting and locking behind her. It took her a moment to realize she wasn?t alone.

Oh! One thing I should mention, though: Twilight Princess does have at least one hard area. It's the Cave of Ordeals and it consists of room after room of enemies with almost zero heart drops. It's a lot like the cave on Outset Island in TWW only it puts that cave's difficulty to shame. Some of the later rooms can easily bring you down from full life and kill you if you're not really, really careful. I haven't managed to beat it yet; right now I'm going around collecting all the pieces of heart that I missed and I'm going to give it another try after I'm all stocked up.
I found that area, but I only went down so far and came back out. The one in the Wind Waker would have been better if you couldn?t use one of your
weapons to steal things from the enemies.
I took extra stuff for that set of caves and ended up not even needing it. As for boss fights I just finished the fourth dungeon and though I was able to figure it out just fine, it was an absolute riot to do. So far it?s been the most entertaining of all the boss fights. :catgirl: Now I?m just doing some exploring before I go to the next area of the game. I?ve found a number of other caves that are rather fun to solve just to get a heart piece. And I'm loving the special moves; right now my favorites are the backslash now that I?ve gotten better at using it, and the mortal draw. (If I remember correctly) That one is downright fun to use. Excellent sign ups everyone. In addition to those who were already going to participate, both Rachmaninoff and Takuya?s characters have been accepted. I?ve already updated the current cast in the first post to reflect that. The character you created prowlingdarknes is fine as well, however your post is full of grammar and spelling errors making it a little hard to follow. So if you could edit it to fix the mistakes I?ll look over it again and then make my final decision. Mariskah will be putting her sign up in the next few days and then I will put mine up as well. With it being so close to Christmas I?ll probably wait until a few days after the holiday to get the RPG started and to leave time for any more sign ups.

Banner by Satori Many tens of thousands of years ago, in another part of the galaxy an Empire was born. Before that they were broken into ten different factions and were constantly torn apart by multiple wars; eventually this chaos brought about the formation of a High Council with a representative from each faction in an effort to restore peace. And in time it did. This Empire built by a race that called themselves Versilan?s then turned their focus outwards expanding their reach into the depths of space as their technology grew. At first their efforts were peaceful, but as time went by and they began to also enhance their lifespan through genetics, they began to see themselves as being superior to other races that they had encountered. Corruption began to build from within as people turned their backs on the unpleasant rumors so long as their every wish was fulfilled. And slowly but surely, the High Council became more military in nature, more separate from the common person. And now for over a thousand years they have been slowly conquering other races, crushing all opposition both from within and from without. They are experts at keeping the common civilian happy and yet recruiting those into their ranks who believe the teachings that other races are inferior and meant to be used to serve the Versilan Empire. But there are a few who do not agree with those in power, they feel that all life is equal and should not be used by another for personal gain. But their opinion fell on deaf ears and when key dissidents began to disappear, the remaining few who disagreed wisely kept quiet and began to work independently to try and save the other races from being enslaved. Forming a secret society among others who also did not agree with enslaving other races. And thus the Versilan resistance was born. But in spite of their valiant efforts to protect the other races, so far all attempts to stop the Empire has failed. And many of the few resistance members have fallen victim to the Empire. In an attempt to continue the fight, the leaders of the resistance have started looking outside their own people and have begun to recruit members from those worlds that are threatened. For without help, their task is doomed. ----------- Welcome to Silver One. You have just entered a pivotal point in the history of mankind. And only you along with a handful of brave adventurers will be able to determine the outcome. Will the ancient and powerful Versilan Empire finally fall? Or will the Earth become yet another conquest. If you are a member of the Versilan Empire, the balance of power is on your side. Those who would dare to stand in your way are but mere insects to be squashed, pawns that have no value. If you are a member of the resistance, though the odds are stacked against you, in the last year you have gained new allies, who though they may lack the might of the Versilan Empire, they make up for it in knowledge and spirit. And a keen determination to succeed no matter what the cost to themselves. Only one-question remains and that is? which side are you on? ----------- Now before you answer that question, there are some things you need to know. For starters, Silver One is based off of my current story running in the OB Anthology which can be located here: Silver One However, knowledge of this or having read it is not required. Although the story is picking up where I will have left off, knowing what happened before will not be necessary as the main characters from that story are already assigned to members who have read it. Everything will be included in their signups and in the opening posts. As for which side you decide to join, there are a few details that will help you make that choice. Other than the Versilan Empire, no other known race has the ability to travel through space. Or rather they lack the ability to travel to other sections of space or planets that are inhabited. Nor are there any races that are not humanoid in appearance. The reason for this is something that will be revealed during the course of the story. Also you have the chance to create two characters to play. You do not have to decide immediately, as you can start with one and then later create another one. Most of the people who have already decided to join the battle are already controlling two characters, myself included. I also intend to follow a format where any player who for whatever reasons is unable post, their character will become missing in action. You can do this on purpose if you have exams coming up. You can send your character on a mission and then re-join the story when you return. If you are unable to return, your character at that point will either stay missing, or will be killed in action. Sign ups Name: Pretty much anything you want. I have been using English names for the Versilan characters for the simple reason that it?s easier for me to follow. So feel free to use whatever type of name you are most comfortable with. Age: The range I am looking for is anywhere from sixteen to two hundred. Sixteen being the youngest one can enter the Versilan military and two hundred being the oldest for enlisting in the Versilan military. If you are human the age is eighteen to fifty years old. Gender: Male or Female. Race: Versilan or Human. Either one is fine. Loyalty: This is where you decide if you are a member of the Versilan Military or of the underground resistance. You could also be on the fence, working for one side or not at all and yet still not certain if you are loyal to either cause. Perhaps you are a trader who is loyal to profit instead of a government. Description: Pictures are acceptable; however keep in mind that they must be humanoid in appearance. Anime is acceptable so long as there are no wings, cat ears, tails, or things along that nature. Again, as I mentioned before there is a reason for this that will be revealed later in the story. Also, all Versilan?s have silver colored eyes. I realized that finding pictures of characters with that color would be difficult. So whatever color your character does have will be what they use when the character has a need to visit other planets. Like Earth for example. Someone with silver eyes would look very strange. If your character is human, then the color doesn?t matter. Weapons: Primitive weapons are a definite no no if your character is a Versilan. The Versilan?s have long since left swords, knifes and other such weapons behind. Hand to hand combat since the average Versilan is much stronger than other races and laser/disruptor weapons are what the military prefers to use. Special high tech explosives are also used, but they are strictly regulated and only officers receive the necessary training to be able to use them. Bullets and other such primitive weapons are strictly forbidden on any ship and thus no character would really use them. However that doesn?t mean there aren?t many versions of laser/disruptor-based weapons. This is really more of a brief description of what types of weapons you have been trained to use. If your character is from Earth, then more primitive weapon skills are acceptable. Special Skills: Is your character a doctor? An officer? Or a computer programmer? If you are with the resistance, are you in the Versilan Military working as a spy and if so what skills make you a good choice? Or are you on the outside working to recruit more members or find ways to help prepare other worlds to resist the Versilan Empire? If your character is from Earth, what is their profession? Personality: What?s your character like? The only requirement here is that there needs to be some variety among the signups. Short Bio: A snippet of what your character is like. It can be a flash back, or a post in the setting you have chosen. It doesn?t have to include everything, but enough to give me a good feel for your character. I?d say about thee to four paragraphs would be a good start. Current Cast Resistance Celestia Lynn Henderson (Earth/Versilan): SunfallE Jason Eric Sanders (Earth): SunfallE Daniel Landers (Versilan): Aaryanna_Mom Kimberly Spencer (Versilan): Aaryanna_Mom Jason?s sister Sara Sanders (Earth): Mariskah Kiva Salqarian (Versilan): Takuya Versilan Empire Jared Waldo Scorer (Versilan): indifference Sandra Tessa Luciana (Versilan): indifference Crystal Matheson (Versilan): Aaryanna Neutral Darren Anderson (Versilan): Rachmaninoff Royce Athlazar (Human): JimitheGreat11 One other note, it is absolutely not required to play two different characters to be a part of this story. You can if you wish too, but please don?t feel like you have to. Also, if it helps to know, this RPG won?t be following a chapter system, but rather one of an event system. Similar to chapters only there?s no post order. Indifference or I will be posting about major changes in the story line that affect everyone. A banner and a notation indicating this will always head these posts to help avoid any confusion. I intend to leave a lot of leeway in how things progress as I?ve tried to tailor my plot twists to fit different directions to avoid restricting the actual story. I intend to provide objectives that need to be completed, but in addition to that you?ll be able to add a lot of your own ideas into the storyline. ---------- I think that about covers it, if there are any questions feel free to send me a pm, as the underground thread won?t be going up until the actual RPG starts.

Welcome to theOtakuBoards DBzach77! Please be aware that we have a rules page that all members are required to read before posting. These Rules and FAQ can be found on the left navigation menu and the Otaku Lounge Rules are pinned at the top of the forum. You can also use the underlined links I have just provided. We have pretty high standards when it comes to the quality of posts (ie: making them well thought out with care given to grammar). Especially for the opening post of a thread as it's what kick starts the discussion. When you re-read the rules page it will make more sense to you. A good example of what I am talking about is the reply by Allamorph. A thread where you ask what is your favorite animal without even bothering to explain which is your favorite and why is spam. So due to the spammy nature of this thread I will be closing it. If you have any questions please feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~SunfallE Thread Closed

So far I'm loving the game, although I think I've gone to the third temple a little prematurely - I still only have one special move and I haven't learned any more. My sister was telling me that she had learned one or two more by that stage, so I'm behind her I think, lol. //snip// Oh and...I have to say, now that I'm used to the Wii version, I don't think I'd want to play this game on GameCube. The manual camera just isn't worth what you'd sacrifice in play control. If you have no choice then sure, the GameCube version is going to be great. But if you own a Wii...I think the choice is a no-brainer.
You?ve definitely missed out on two special moves as I had three when I entered the third dungeon as well. And now that I?ve started the fourth dungeon I?ve picked up another two moves for a total of five. Which now that things have changed, are really handy to have. I?m with indifference on the GameCube aspect. ^_~ As much as I love Zelda, Nintendo?s been a disappointment since the 64 came out as most of the RPG type of games I like to play went to Playstation instead. I didn?t even bother to get the GameCube until The Wind Waker came out. And still, I own less than ten games for it as there just isn?t that many games that I like. So even though I?m tempted to see the differences on the Wii, it?s not going to happen anytime soon. I miss the RPG?s like Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia and Secret of Evermore. Other than Zelda and a handful of other games, Nintendo hasn?t put out very many good RPG?s for their main console. The graphics on the DS Lite are better than the old GBA, but I just hate that so many potentially good RPG?s went to a tiny screen instead of being put on the 64 or the GameCube. As for Twilight Princess, since I haven?t played the other for comparison, I can tell you that people who don?t have the Wii and are Zelda fans, well they are simply going to love it. It?s got a lot of new and fresh takes on how you approach battle and solve things, the equipment has been re-vamped and all the additional details to everything is beautifully done. And the depth and scope of the actual world is really amazing. I really loved how they did the lake. And all the different things with the in-between storylines and interactions, well it?s definitely going to end up being my favorite out of all the Zelda games. :catgirl:

As for the previous post. I agree with indifference, it's much better now that you separated it into different chapters. That slight pause to read that it's another chapter is just enough to make the switch more natural instead of reading and then realizing that the author is off on another tangent.
Thanks again you two for the input. I appreciate it. ^_~ Chapter thirty-one: Daniel couldn?t even get up off the floor after Jared and the guards left. He watched as Jason held Celestia close while she cried. Daniel closed his eyes and sighed. So she was the daughter of the Earth woman he had cared for. Despite his precautions Celestia was their daughter. Jared had mentioned that her human side had overwritten the genetic code from him, if what he said was true it would explain why the scan had shown her as being human. If it had shown any of his, at the time he would have made sure the baby was terminated. It was a simple matter to cause a miscarriage. Daniel cried silently. Everything he had known had been turned upside down. Never in his wildest dreams could he have imagined his life becoming such a nightmare. The door opened again and Daniel opened his eyes to see more guards come it. They removed the broken restraints and picked him up and then re-fastened him to the bed with new ones. This time they were the heavy duty ones and he knew he would not be able to break them. Daniel looked over at Jason and Celestia when the guards finally left. Celestia seemed to be calming down, he turned away and closed his eyes. If there was no hope of escape then they were better off dead. If only to deny Jared from doing to Celestia what he had done to him over the past three weeks. Daniel had not missed his implication that soon he would have Jason too. Jared was beyond sadistic and cruel. He obviously enjoyed the pain and misery he inflicted upon others. Daniel was sickened by all that had happened in the past three to four weeks, it was no wonder that people joined the resistance. How many other innocent people?s lives had Jared and other?s like him destroyed? Even he was guilty. If he hadn?t attempted to catch the resistance ship that had been waiting for Sandra?s ship, Nathan?s escape plan might have worked. He felt sickened by the knowledge that his own actions were partly responsible for the mess he was in. How many lives had he destroyed over the years? Sure he could claim he was just doing his duty as a Commander. But Daniel knew things were never so simple. Had he really been unaware? Or had he fooled himself into thinking things were okay. Now he would never know. Celestia pulled away from Jason. ?I?m okay now, thank you,? she said. ?Are you sure?? Jason asked. Celestia nodded. She didn?t know what to think. All this time she had thought that her father was dead. She got up and walked over to Daniel?s bed. Once she was taken to the capital she probably would never see him again. Celestia sat down on the bed next to Daniel. He opened his eyes and looked at her when she sat down. ?Are you okay?? she asked. Daniel nodded that he was. Celestia paused and then continued, ?You?ve been avoiding me since you arrived. Was it because you are my father?? Daniel looked away. ?I knew who you were as you look exactly like your mother. But I did not know that you were my daughter.? He said. ?I see. Truthfully I don?t remember you.? Celestia said. ?I?ve had dreams where you are in them, so when I first saw you I wondered if we had met before.? He was completely surprised when Celestia leaned forward and then hugged him tightly. ?I?m so sorry Daniel.? When she let go he was further surprised to see tears running down her face. Daniel felt tears running down the side of his face as well, ?Don?t be,? He hesitated too choked up to continue for a minute, ?If I hadn?t stopped the ship waiting for Nathan you wouldn?t be here.? Celestia held him while they both cried. ?You had no way of knowing what would happen. Please don?t blame yourself.? She finally said. Daniel was speechless. How could she be so kind and understanding after all that had happened to her? He would eventually end up dead once Jared had finished probing his memories, where she would be a prisoner the rest of her life. Celestia?s mother had been just as kind and understanding. It was why he had liked her. Most of the women and men he had dealt with on other worlds were petty and selfish. He had thought she was an exception, but now he knew better. He hugged her back as much as the restraints would allow, if only he had known that she was his daughter. Jason watched as Celestia and Daniel talked and then held each other while they cried. So Celestia?s father was an alien. He had never expected anything like that. It didn?t change how he felt about her, but it certainly was a surprise. It seemed so strange that Daniel was her father. Jason still wasn?t use to how the Versilan?s aged differently. He didn?t look old enough to be her father. But then he had been surprised to find out that Nathan was two hundred and sixty years old. He hadn?t looked any older than fifty! Jason sighed. He didn?t think Celestia or Daniel had realized just what Jared had said. Unless he misunderstood, he had only said that Celestia was being sent to the capital. Jared had clearly stated that he was only along for the trip and that soon he would belong to him. Jason knew he wasn?t as smart and intelligent as Celestia. So there was no reason for him to be kept with her. He hoped he was wrong. Jason sighed again. No he wasn?t going to say anything to Celestia on the trip to the capital. He didn?t want what little time they had left together ruined by the knowledge that they would most likely be forcibly separated soon. Jason cringed, what really frightened him was the implication that he would belong to Jared. He knew what Jared had been doing to Daniel. He was pretty sure that the only reason Jared had left him alone was to wait for the genetic enhancements to be finished. He knew perfectly well that the only reason they had bothered to change him was so he would live longer. No, he definitely didn?t want Celestia to know just how terrified he was at the prospect of being Jared?s diversion permanently. Jason got up and went over to join Celestia and Daniel. Commander Kim read through the orders indicating that she was to continue working with Commander Sandra. Apparently they would be investigating the next sector together. Kim put the hand-held device down. She curled up on the sofa in her quarters and cried once again. An elite escort would be arriving tomorrow to take the two humans to the capital. She saw that Jared was assigned to escort them. There was nothing to indicate what was going to happen with Daniel. Kim sighed. She had left a message for William indicating she wished to chat with him, but he had not responded. It had been over three weeks since she left the initial message. She sighed again; she wasn?t even sure why she had contacted him. There was nothing he could do anyway. Kim got up and went into her room to get ready for bed.

Well, thanks! Do you think that writing in a RPG would help? I've actually given up to it, but I could pick it back up =D You've given me inspiration! Arigato!
You're Welcome. And I do think that being part of an RPG helps. You don?t know what the others are going to write so you have to be more creative in making your part flow into what they have written and yet leave it open for what they are going to write as well. And if you keep trying, you?re bound to improve. ;) DeathKnight: You forgot to mention that you?re not good at admitting that you?re down right funny at times and extremely loveable. :p Lets see as for other things I?m not good at, skiing comes to mind, I just hate getting cold so my instinct is to run inside where it?s warm instead of learning how to move without falling on my rear.

One more thing I guess. I'm not good at making stories. I've attempted before. I let my brother look at it and he just laughed. It was supposed to be serious, but obviously, he didn't think so. I mean, I'm not sure what I can do to make it better, I'm just not skilled in that area I guess.
I'll give you a word of advise on that one, get a second opinion and ask for them to explain what doesn't make sense and what did. In other words, don't give up just because one person didn't get what you were trying to say. It may have just not been the type of story they like and not an indication of your writing skills. And even then learning to write is something that takes time. ;) As for myself, the thing I'm not good at is ice-skating or using roller blades. I've tried countless times and I simply cannot do it. I've lost count of the times I've fallen and gotten bruises from trying. So I've pretty much lost all interest in it since it's no fun when you can't get it to work. That and I later found out I have actual physical issues with both my feet and ankles. Which made me feel better since it wasn?t because I didn?t try hard enough. The other thing I'm terrible at is spelling and grammar. It's one thing to read and understand what is written and yet another to try and do it yourself. Without my lovely Word program, my posts would be quite the horror to read.

If they want to take the game and leave the settings for Normal Mode, and then increase the strength of the enemies for a Hard Mode, I'd be all for that.
I feel the same way. I adore the Zelda series, but on some level it does get annoying that it?s too easy to beat. The first time through it?s no big deal for me since you are figuring everything out, but I really wish they would do like other games I enjoy that have multiple settings for difficulty. Like Diablo II Lord of Destruction and Star Ocean: Till the end of time and Tales of Symphonia. Even though you have to unlock the harder levels in those games, they still at least exist so you can take on the game on a more challenging level. I really wish Nintendo would take that into consideration. It would make Zelda all that much sweeter to beat it on the normal level, then a hard level and then an expert level. I?d probably never beat the final level, but I know I?d enjoy one that?s at least a little harder than the typical normal level. So far it?s unique enough that the different aspects of what your character can do is keeping me entertained. And if it continues on that trend it?s definitely going to be one of my favorite games.
I think the problem, partially, is the addition of quarter hearts. I think this is the worst addition to the series so far. When you're going to get over a dozen hearts just by playing the game normally (and WAY more if you look around), quarter hearts are pointless. Pick-ups to regenerate are so plentiful that it winds up just being a cake walk. If Nintendo wants to do this, then fine, but at least include a hard mode. I've brought this up on other Nintendo sites and people jump at me like this is an insane request. They'd rather play the game "how the creators envisioned it". If the creators envisioned a game without real challenge, I have to say it makes me sad.
Well if you?re like me and miss a jump and land in lava.
which by the way, is pretty awesome looking as to how your character just slowly sinks in
that mistake takes quite a bit more than a simple quarter of a heart. How the creators envisioned it? *snicker* That?s priceless. It?s not like they couldn?t play the game and never turn the hard mode on. That?s about as dumb as the argument over subtitles and dubbing in anime. Technology today makes providing more than one option in games much easier, so they can easily stick to the way it was envisioned and yet still give people more variety in their gaming experience. Maya looked at the others gathered on the hill overlooking the Labyrinth and then back to the arch that was supposed to be the exit, but more importantly she looked at the ground between them and the arch. It appeared that who ever had brought them here was not though with them as there was still paths to be taken. And she was certain that what they had faced before was far from over. She could feel it, like an ominous presence looming in the air. Black, bitter and terrible, she could feel it waiting for the moment to strike. ?I think we should stick together. I can?t describe it, but I get the feeling that what?s ahead of us will be more than one person can handle.? Maya spoke softly. She turned back to see the others watching her. Joachim and Feng Li merely nodded their heads in agreement. Lita hesitated, and then she too nodded as well. Janet reached up to her pocket, remembering the seeds that had helped her before. Once again her pocket was full of seeds. This time she didn?t know how they got there, perhaps it was when she had been crushed beneath the monstrosity the vines had stopped for her? It was faint but it was almost if they were whispering to her, reassuring her that they would do all they could to protect her. And among all that was a feeling that she should go with them. ?I agree.? Janet replied. ?I too get the feeling that working together is our only hope.? ?It looks like there is only one door into the remaining maze,? Joachim said indicating a huge gateway at the bottom of the hill. ?There could be another entrance, but I don?t see one within sight.? ?Then lets go,? Lita said as she started down the hill with the others following closely behind her. Within a very short time they walked through the huge gates which then closed behind them. A huge corridor stretched out as far as the eye could see in front of them. There were many passageways along the sides as well as sections that were made of many different materials. Some of the walls appeared to be stone, others hedges, some of glass, metal and a bright reflective substance that looked like a shimmering rainbow. And still looming off in the distance was the top of the arch that was the exit to the Labyrinth. ?Shall we?? Feng Li said reaching up to take Janet?s hand. Janet clasped her hand in hers. ?Yes.? ?By the way,? Feng Li asked Janet as the group walked down the main passage way towards the arch. ?Did you ever find the girl the doll belonged to?? Janet sighed. ?No, I did not.? ?I bet it belonged to a girl who was brought here before we were.? Feng Li said with certainty. ?Why do you say that?? Janet asked. ?Because the voice said we were the strongest specimens, so if only five of us remain, it means they?ve probably brought a lot of people here. And since you found the doll before we were brought to where the exit is, she probably got killed by a trap, like the old lady who was with me did. There was another girl when we got here, but she wasn't holding a doll.? Feng Li said. Before Janet could reply Feng Li let go of her hand with an exclamation of surprise and ran forward a few feet and stopped. ?What is it?? Maya asked. The others gathered behind her looking to see what had attracted her attention. ?Look at the ground!? Feng Li said pointing downwards. ?It looks like it?s painted instead of real stones.? Joachim pulled out his sword and poked the ground a few feet in front of them. With a crack the ground opened up like a trap door, the sides swinging down leaving a huge section over ten feet wide and thirty feet long exposed. The group inched forward and looked down. Huge spikes lined the bottom of the pit. ?Lovely, now what do we do?? Lita groaned. ?We can?t go back and there aren?t any other directions to take until after this pit. And I?m positive that I can?t jump that far.? Janet leaned over the pit a bit in an attempt to see if there was a way to pull the sides back up and fasten them somehow. She got on her hands and knees and held on tight to the edge while she looked down the side. ?What are you looking for?? Feng Li asked. ?I?m not sure?wait a second!? She exclaimed. ?Joachim could you use your sword to pry one of the stones loose? It looks like there?s just dirt underneath the stones.? ?I can try.? Joachim said. Janet got up and the others moved out of the way as well. All of them curious as to what Janet had in mind. Joachim pulled out his sword and struck downwards with it. Instead of going between the stones like he had planned, it shattered the stone into several pieces. He put the sword back in its scabbard and then pulled the pieces out and set them aside. ?Thank you.? Janet said. She reached into her pocket took out a few seeds and buried them in the soil. ?Please help us get across.? She asked the seeds before stepping back. Before the others could ask her what she was doing a sharp crack filled the air as the ground exploded where the seeds had been planted. Vines crept down the side into the pit to reappear on the other side moments later, pushing stones out of the path on the other side. Then in a matter of minutes they pulled upwards from the bottom of the pit, growing thicker by the moment. A few minutes later a path of woven vines, each of them several feet thick nearly covered the pit. ?Wow!? Feng Li said. ?So you can do cool stuff too!? ?Too?? Janet said, puzzled at Feng Li?s response. ?It seems that all of us have gained some sort of skill since we arrived here.? Maya said. ?Shall we?? she said with a nod towards the path the vines had made. A few minutes later, all of them had crossed the vines and then continued towards the arch. Janet paused for a moment and turned back. ?Thank you yet again.? She said to the vines before turning back and continuing with the rest of the group.

The game's opening is decidedly dull. Ocarina of Time opened with an intense prophetic vision of Ganon in pursuit of Zelda on horseback. WindWaker opened with a beautiful, albeit somber montage of stained-glass storyboards. Twilight Princess, on the other hand, puts Link in a rural setting where the player herds goats, chases a cat, and fishes. Anyway, after the boring opening, suddenly the game takes off and you see why the opening was so stale. This world you think you know, is suddenly going to get flipped upside down. The fabric of society is going to crumble and the feeling of terror is pervasive.
Well I just got the game for GameCube yesterday and naturally I played it for a bit. I agree that the opening seemed a bit flat, but I was already noticing the differences from the previous 64 Zelda games and the Wind Waker and in that respect it?s got a whole new depth and level of interactive ness that?s very enjoyable. And though I?m sure they could have done better, for the GameCube the graphics and the way it is put together is simply beautiful. I?m really enjoying how things look in this game. But what really threw me for a loop is exactly what you just described Charles. I was comfortably going along with the way the story seemed to be sending you only to have it suddenly flip. And it was done well enough that for those of you who are playing it, I?m sure you can guess which part literally startled me as it was so unexpected.
However, it should be noted that the actual composition of the music is still quite beautiful. Just imagining it fully orchestrated really leaves me wanting more.
I would just love to hear it fully orchestrated, it?s like a tiny glimpse of what the music really is. It?s a shame they didn?t do more with it. The whole game is just as you described it, it has a wonderful mix of the traditional Zelda look with the overlay of a darker overtone and the artwork for it is beautifully done. I also love how the character development has more depth to it than in previous games. I won?t post spoilers either since I was pleasantly surprised by how they handled that aspect. I?ve only gotten a bit past the first dungeon and that part of it really draws you into the story and has you feeling more connected to what?s going on. So far the dungeons or rather quests as well have had interesting new aspects to them, but the first boss was terribly easy to beat so I hope that trend doesn?t continue through out the game. It was still fun since figuring out the dungeon was quite different, but the boss battle was rather anticlimactic in how it was so simple and easy to do. Eventually once Nintendo actually has more than one game that interests me for the Wii, and hopefully it?s dropped in price too, I?ll have to pick up the Wii and Twilight Princess so I can play it and enjoy it all over again with the differences due to the remote. But for now I have no complaints as the GameCube version is so far more than living up to my expectations. (other than that one boss fight that is. )

And before it?s too late, time for my banners as well. ^_~ Same as last year James, more pictures from Yellowstone National Park.
I only wish they had done the defense or offense so you could have one of each instead of having to choose.
I agree, it?s not so bad for regular fights, but having to choose between defense and offense for boss battles really bites. If you take defense, it takes longer to take them down, but if you go with offense, you really do good damage, but you get pounded on in the process. I?ve had to re-do several of those battles to see which approach worked the best. I do like how it gives you the chance to retry and edit your deck. I hated losing a boss fight and then having to redo all the stuff up to that point in the other game.
Anyway, I like it because the turn over for recovery items is much quicker, no wating for the deck to reshuffle, so even though my characters get pounded on due to the lack of defensive gear, it doesn?t matter. Though you?re right in that the time to pick the cards is on the quick side making it easy to be skipped. So I guess I?d like to be able to equip defense and offense along with a little more time to pick your cards.
Same here, I really detested that shuffling the deck and how once you used a recovery item you were out of luck until you went through the whole deck. As for the timing, now that I?ve played it longer and I?ve gotten a little more accustomed to how battle works, I haven?t had the issue of not being quick enough anymore. So being skipped rarely happens now. That and I figured out that the timing doesn?t start until you pick your first card. Once I realized that it made things a little easier for planning which cards to use.
And by far my favorite aspect of the game is the three main characters Sagi, Guillo and Milliarde. I definitely like all of them much better. Especially the way Guillo and Milliarde love to snip at each other. And Sagi is actually adorable, unlike Kalas. ;)
Hehe, I agree, I just love Guillo and Milliarde. And I agree about Sagi, and here I thought I was the only one who found Kalas annoying. Though I suppose if they had done a better job on the recording so they didn?t sound metallic I might be able to tolerate him easier. ^_~

Now what do I do? Callisto thought. The door that Joachim had stepped through had vanished. Taking him with it. Hesitantly he stepped forward, reaching out to where the door had just been. There was nothing but air. It was if the door had never existed. ?What do you care?? A voice whispered in the air. Startled Callisto whirled around, but there was no one there! ?You miss the sword not the boy.? It continued. Callisto turned frantically, but the passageway was empty! ?Who?s there?? He cried out. ?You are.? It continued in the same raspy whisper. ?I am but a part of you. Your selfish desire to use that boy for your own survival.? ?That?s not true! You can?t be me!? Callisto insisted. ?Oh really? Then why did you dodge to avoid the flames from the bird on the pillar? It never even crossed your mind to save the boy, only your own precious hide.? It accused. Callisto moved until his back was against the wall, a quick glance both ways showed he was still alone. Am I going mad? He wondered. The voice chuckled, ?You already are mad!? ?No! Stop playing games and show yourself!? He demanded. ?Are you sure you can handle it? After all the boy?s precious sword isn?t here to protect you anymore.? It replied. ?Damn it! I was not using the boy to protect myself!? Callisto asserted forcefully. Delighted chuckles echoed though the passageway. ?Very well, but remember, you asked me to show myself.? A shadowy presence began to appear in front of Callisto, taking the shape of a man, then ultimately his own. It was like looking at a mirror of himself, only in shades of black and gray, other than the red glowing eyes that pierced him to his soul. Chilling him. ?What are you?? Callisto asked as he glanced back and forth. ?And what do you want with me?? ?I told you fool, I am you! I am the darkness that dwells in your own heart.? It lunged at Callisto, catching him by surprise. Wrapping one hand around his throat and the other behind his back. Callisto reached up in a vain attempt to pry his hand lose. His shadow self remained silent while he tried all sorts of things to get free. ?Don?t you understand fool.? It hissed at him. ?I am part of you, your attempts to get free are useless. Until the darkness within your heart is gone, I will remain.? Callisto struggled even harder as the creature tightened its grip. It?s too strong! He thought. ?It?s time that we were one again.? The creature hissed at him. As if to mock Callisto?s weakness it easily pulled him forward until their faces were nearly touching. And then it kissed him lightly on the lips. The moment their lips touched, Callisto felt a terrible coldness spread over his body, as if he were being drained. What?s happening to me? He thought in panic. It?s like my energy is being drained! He clawed desperately at the creature to no avail. Then their lips met once again. This time the cold was painful as it burned though his body robbing him of his strength. The creature pulled back once more staring into Callisto?s eyes. ?Time for the darkness to reign.? It whispered as it moved in for the final kiss. Maybe he?s right. Callisto thought in despair. Without the kid and his sword I?m useless. I don?t know how to beat this thing. If only I had some way to get free! Suddenly Callisto found himself hovering in the air a few feet away from the creature. Flapping his wings. My wings? What the heck? He thought. How did I get over here? And how did I turn into a bird? ?Very clever, but that won?t be enough to save you.? The shadow whispered. ?You may have changed your shape but the darkness still remains.? It raised its hands and before Callisto could get out of the way, a wave of darkness hit him, knocking him to the floor. He felt himself change back to his human shape. Before he could even wonder how he had managed to turn into a bird, the shadow was on top of him pinning him to the floor. ?I told you it was time for the darkness to reign.? It said. It kissed him again, draining the rest of Callisto?s life force. I hope the kid makes it out okay Callisto thought as the numbing cold crept over his body and his vision began to fail. With a satisfied hiss the wraith changed from the human shape it had assumed back to the shadowy mist it truly was. Then it merged with the wall to wait for the next one to come along.
I'm thinking it would have been better to separate them into two different chapters.
I agree, so I went back and modified it to that effect. ^_~ Chapter thirty: Celestia woke up to find herself back in the room with Jason and Daniel. The lights were dimmed and when she turned to see Jason and Daniel she saw that they were both asleep. She got up quietly and went into the bathroom to look at the mirror. Not only were the streaks still there but also they were more prominent. About one third of her eye color was now the same silver as the Versilan?s, what she didn?t understand was why only she had this reaction and not Jason. Celestia went back out into the main room to lie back down on her bed. What really disturbed her is she thought she overheard some of the medical staff commenting on whether or not she would be ready to be transported in a few days. She didn?t know if she had been dreaming or not. The stuff they gave her when she was being treated had made her feel almost as if she wasn?t even in her own body. Celestia got up and walked over to Daniel. She checked to make sure his blanket had not come off before turning and going over to the bed Jason was in. Celestia smiled. Jason was so cute when he was sleeping. He looked so carefree and relaxed, with a bit of his own hair covering his face. She hesitated and made up her mind. She lifted up the blanket and crawled under to sleep next to him. Jason stirred a bit in his sleep and moved closer wrapping his right arm around her waist. Celestia smiled, as he hadn?t even woken up. She positioned her head on his pillow until their faces were only about six inches apart. She sighed to herself. If only things had been different. Celestia hated to admit it, but even if she hadn?t been taken prisoner by the Versilan?s there was no guarantee she would have dated Jason as she was so horribly shy when it came to relationships. Especially since most men were only after her money. It was the only good thing that had happened since she had been captured. She had finally realized how much she cared for Jason. Celestia closed her eyes and drifted into pleasant dreams. As Jason began to wake up he realized that he had his arm wrapped around something warm. He opened his eyes and nearly jumped out of his skin when he realized that he was looking at Celestia. Jason blushed furiously when he realized that not only had she gotten into the bed without waking him, but that his right arm was wrapped around her waist. Celestia was close enough that their bodies were touching and her face was only a few inches from his. Jason felt his heart begin to race and he blushed again. Celestia stirred and opened her eyes. She smiled and said, ?You look cute when you blush.? Jason blushed even more. Celestia leaned forward to kiss Jason but stopped when she heard the sound of the door opening. She sat up and froze, as it was Jared and several guards. Jason also sat up but when he started to move to get off the bed, Jared said, ?Don?t bother to move on my account. We have something to talk about.? The guards went over to Daniel?s bed and woke him up. But instead of removing the restraints to take him they went back over to stand behind Jared once Daniel had been moved to a sitting position. Jared smiled and continued, ?I will be transporting you to the capital Celestia. Jason will be coming along for the trip as well. But since we will be leaving in a few days I thought you might like to have a little family re-union before we leave as you will never see Daniel again.? Celestia was puzzled, what did Jared mean by family re-union. Jared could see that Celestia and Jason were both quite confused. Even Daniel looked confused. This was interesting. Even if he had followed standard procedure and scanned the unborn child as operatives were required to make sure no half-breeds were left behind on the worlds they investigated, he would not have realized she had some of their genetic code. It had taken the doctor nearly two days to completely analyze the data. No operative had the necessary equipment to make such a though check. Jared sighed dramatically, ?I see that you are clueless, not surprising since your mother died and you were placed in an orphanage when you were quite young. You probably never saw your father again after that. Since your parents were never married a search for your father produced no results.? Celestia was still confused. She knew her parents had not been married and since no one came to claim her in the orphanage she had assumed that her father was dead as well. Truthfully she didn?t remember her father. It wasn?t until she became wealthy that people tried to claim that she was their daughter. None of them had been telling the truth. Just what was Jared getting at? Jared turned to Daniel to see that he looked horrified. He smiled, ?I see that you are not so clueless after all, shall I explain or would you like the honor?? Celestia turned to look at Daniel. His expression when he looked at her was unreadable. Just what in the world was going on here? Jared walked over and sat down on the bed next to Celestia and leaned forward as if to whisper a secret. ?Haven?t you ever wondered why your father never came to get you from the orphanage? It?s quite simple, he was no longer on Earth.? Celestia was stunned! She looked briefly at Daniel again before looking back at Jared. Was he saying that Daniel was her father? Was that why he looked exactly like the Daniel in her dreams? Was it also why Nathan had looked so familiar as he was Daniel?s father? Jared watched Celestia as she looked over to Daniel and then back at him again. This was going to be fun. He leaned forward until his face was nearly touching Celestia?s. ?Daniel is your father. The doctor has identified the genetic code and it?s an exact match. Your reaction to the genetic enhancement activated the small amount of code that wasn?t overwritten by your human side.? Jared paused for a minute to allow what he said to sink in before continuing, ?The trip to the capital will take two weeks.? Jared wrapped his left arm behind Celestia and pulled her close until they were touching. He reached up with his right hand and grabbed her chin forcing her to look up at him ignoring her attempts to push him away. He also ignored Jason and Daniel?s startled gasps of surprise, trusting in the guards to watch them. ?I have always preferred men, but I think that for you I will make an exception.? He smiled as Celestia struggled harder to get free, ?How could I possibly turn down the opportunity. First Nathan as he poisoned himself to avoid capture. Then arranging the final moments for Daniel?s mother. Of course there is Daniel himself. Soon I will have your boyfriend Jason. I wouldn?t want you to feel left out.? Jared ignored Celestia?s struggles and kissed her. Celestia couldn?t stop the tears as Jared did more than just lightly kiss her on the lips. She had never been kissed like this before! Did he plan on raping her in front of Jason and Daniel? She fell backwards into Jason when Jared suddenly released her. Celestia couldn?t stop herself from shaking. Jared turned to look at Daniel. He got up and walked over towards him. Jared smiled at the cold look of absolute fury on Daniel?s face. Daniel lunged at Jared when he was close enough. He pulled so hard that the light restraints actually broke. He staggered when one of the guards shot him with a medium stun blast. Jared quickly punched Daniel hard in the stomach knocking the breath out of him. He fell to the floor gasping for air. ?Don?t worry, I?ll be sure to bring back a video of your daughter for you.? With that he turned and left, taking the two guards with him.

I just got this game a few days ago and so far I?m enjoying it. Baten Kaitos Origins is essentially a prequel to Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean. Although it lacks some of the better cg shots to introduce the game, unlike the first one the voice overs are done better and don?t have that strange metallic sound to them that I found so irritating in the first game. It was fun, but those metallic sounding voices just grated on my nerves. Anyway, the basic plot (courtsey of Amazon) is this:
The plot revolves around a group of characters that are struggling to discover the source of frightening changes (both natural and political) that are occurring in their world. During their journey, they will learn many details that help flesh out the first game, including how the despotic Empire government came to be.
So far it seems that there is only three characters in your group and the interaction between Guillo and Milliarde is downright funny in how it leaves poor Sagi in the middle of an argument. The battle system is still done with magnus cards, but they?ve altered it in that your combos can only start from lower numbers and go higher, before you could start with say three, then two, etc. However if you?ve got enough points from using cards, some of the special moves can then be stacked on top of each other, something you could not do with the previous game. Instead of using a mangus to defend yourself, at one point if the card comes up you can either have it equipped or a card that improves your weapon?s strength. And the time for grabbing the cards is quick, making it easy to miss a turn as you have little time to decide. A big plus is that at times you can do a type of follow up combo where one character?s attack is immediately followed up by the next person, thus earning you more points for increasing your deck class. Which changes the amount of cards you can have and so forth. You also share the cards with the other two players and the silly shuffling the deck is gone so the cards immediately go back into the pile to randomly come up again. So far I?ve enjoyed that aspect as it?s meant that the recovery items pop up quicker when three people are accessing the deck. The game does use the same cities and such, but there are differences in the layout in some areas, giving it a fresh slant so you don?t feel like you are simply re-tracing your footsteps in the previous game. It also has pretty good graphics for the battles, provided you aren?t too busy concentrating on selecting your cards. But it does give you different visuals to help you see who is going to act next so you can pick your cards accordingly. So far the storyline has been interesting and I?ve been enjoying where it takes me. And there are different activities that I didn?t run into in the last one that I?ve enjoyed. At one point it even has you using your mangus cards to record conversations for an investigation. So it doesn?t completely rely on being sent from one battle to the next. You also have times where you can run errands for people instead of simply advancing to the next stage. It makes a nice break from doing nothing but fighting and dungeons. You also have a different aspect in that your character seems to be
time shifting between two different storylines
Something that I?ve rather enjoyed as it makes the story more involved and interesting. Anyway, though I?m far from being finished (I?m still on disk one) I?m enjoying this game more than I did the first one. So who else has played it and what was your take on it? ^_~

What You Want For Christmas THIS YEAR
SunfallE replied to DeadSeraphim's topic in General Discussion

New house ( 5 bedroom, 3 bath, pool, hot tub, 2 stories, spacious interior, big front and back yards, rich neighborhood, front and back yards with no dirt patches,)
Make it an indoor pool and hot tub and I'd add that to my wish list for Christmas. After all it's no fun to have a pool if you can't use it half of the year. :catgirl: -

Tomorrow, next round starts and by my count, roughly half of the members have used their required card(s).[/size']
Actually haven?t the new rounds always started on Mondays? In which case the next round doesn?t start tomorrow since it?s Sunday. So people have plenty of time to use their cards tomorrow. Which by the way, I intend to as soon as someone else posts since I don?t want to double post just to use it. ;)

I was wondering about that myself. Would we be starting before or after the last chapter you wrote? But in the end I guess it doesn?t matter. Either way I know I?m looking forward to it. ^_^
It will be after the last chapter. It's close to the end so from setting up the sign up to allowing time for people to sign up, I'm sure there will be enough time to get the remaining chapters posted. ^_~ Chapter twenty-eight: Jared waited patiently outside the Commander?s quarters until the door opened and she told him to enter. When he walked in he was a bit surprised at how sparse her quarters really were. Although they were twice the size as his other than a couple more couches there wasn?t much extra in the way of comforts. Sandra was still dressed in a light uniform and motioned to Jared to join her as she was eating her dinner. ?Ah Jared, I took the liberty of ordering you something to drink as I know you have already eaten. Help yourself.? She indicated the bottles on the table. Jared picked one and poured himself a drink. ?Now as to why I called you here. I have an important mission from High Command and I want you to oversee it. They are sending an elite squad to pick up Celestia and have her transferred to the lab at High Command?s headquarters. I?ve been ordered to provide an escort, as I need to stay here with Commander Kim and finish checking though the abandoned resistance base. As you already know we didn?t find anything the first time through but High Command wants a second search before we destroy it.?Sandra paused for a minute to finish her dinner and then pour herself something to drink before continuing. ?I have also been instructed to send Jason along just for the trip, once they actually arrive at the capital High Command has decided you can either execute him or keep him as he really isn?t smart enough to keep alive. They have decided that since the genetic enhancement was successful with her, other methods to insure cooperation can be used and that Jason is no longer needed.? She paused to watch Jared?s reaction, as usual there was none, she continued, ?I want you to be the escort. It will take two weeks to arrive and another three to return, as we will have moved on to the next sector by then. I know you have been amusing yourself with Daniel and we can keep him alive for when you return if you wish it. Especially since your reports indicate that you are not finished probing his memory for connections to the resistance. I also took the liberty of requesting that instead of executing Jason that he be given directly to you.? Sandra shoved an envelope across the table towards Jared. He picked it up and opened it. ?It?s already in the system but those are the actual ownership papers giving you full rights to Jason. I?ve seen what an effect that one has on you and took the liberty of getting this done for you. This way he can be kept here as a member of the crew to serve as your personal slave. I?ve noticed that you no longer dispose of your diversions once you are done with them. You can revoke the ownership papers if you feel that I am mistaken in believing you wish to keep him permanently.? Jared set the papers down and smiled. ?You assume correctly, thank you Sandra,? He replied. ?Good then I?m sure you will like the arrangements for the trip as I have assigned him to the same quarters as you for both the trip to the capital and back. I?m assuming that five weeks will make up for my rude interruption of your fun last month.? Sandra smiled, ?Besides now that he has undergone genetic modification you won?t have to hold back this time.? Jared smiled again and said, ?Please do keep Daniel alive for my return. It would be a shame to dispose of him while he is still useful. Also when do I leave for the capital?? Sandra replied, ?The escort will be here in four days.? Jared stood up preparing to leave the commander?s quarters, ?I understand Commander. I?ll go start the preparations for my departure and prepare the instructions for my temporary replacement.? He turned and left the commanders quarters. Chapter twenty-nine: When Celestia woke up again something felt odd. It wasn?t painful but her whole body felt kind of hot and tingly. She got up to go take a shower but saw that it was already in use by Jason. She went over and checked on Daniel. It never failed to amaze her at how quickly the Versilans recovered from injuries. He had been so battered and bruised yesterday, but this morning the bruises were already almost completely healed. Celestia wondered if the modifications they had done to her and Jason would also mean that they would heal quickly as well. Daniel was still asleep so she re-covered him with the blanket that had slipped off during the night. She sat back down on the bed to wait. Celestia thought about talking to the doctor about how she felt but decided to wait and see if it went away after a while first. She turned when the door opened to see Jason coming out of the restroom. Celestia ran over to give him a quick hug and a good morning kiss but he grabbed her by the shoulders and stared into her eyes with a troubled expression. ?What is it Jason? What?s wrong?? She asked. ?Celestia have you seen your eyes?? He asked. Celestia was puzzled, ?What are you talking about?? Jason let go of her and said, ?Your eyes have silver in them! Go look in the mirror!? Celestia went into the restroom and looked into the mirror. She gasped in surprise as she had streaks of silver running from the inside out to the edge of her irises in her eyes! No wonder Jason had been so surprised! Although her eyes were still primarily blue the streaks were quite vivid and noticeable! That hadn?t been there last night! Was it related to how she felt funny? She walked back out and nearly passed out as a wave of dizziness hit her. Jason caught her and helped her to lie back down in her bed. He called the doctor who showed up and after running a quick scan had several medical personnel move her to another room. She vaguely remembered Jason trying to come along and the doctor re-assuring him she would let him know what was going on as soon as she found out. Celestia tried to stay awake and found that she could not. Doctor Crystal sat down at her desk to organize the information she had regarding Celestia. Jared would be arriving shortly as she had requested that he come and see her regarding what she had found out. It had taken close to twelve hours to figure out what was going on and then to finally stabilize the reaction. She had barely finished the report when Jared arrived. ?Sub-Commander, here?s the report,? Crystal said. ?Please have a seat while I explain this to you.? Jared walked over and sat down in the chair facing her desk. Once he had sat down she continued, ?You already know about what happened regarding Celestia so I won?t bother to go over that. What I wanted to talk to you about is what caused the reaction she had. To put it simply Sub-Commander, Celestia?s father is a Versilan.? Jared was surprised, how was that possible? The doctor continued before he could ask her for an explanation. ?Let me explain, you see Earthlings do not use genetics to reproduce. As a result their genetic structure is primitive and extremely dominant. It?s why they have so many defects. Even if a gene is useless and causes problems their code keeps it and even carries it?s potential to the next generation. It?s extremely difficult to track as it has multiple layers of what appear to be the same code and yet still hides useless traits. By using genetics we actually remove the harmful code. I believe that in her case that it was most likely her father who was a Versilan. When she was conceived the human side of her took over and the code she got from her father was buried. The only part that was used was the code that determined what her actual sex was.? Crystal paused for a moment and then continued. ?When we applied the genetic enhancement and started removing some of the harmful code it must have triggered the genetic code from her father that had been buried. Since it was dormant even if I had looked for it I might have never found it. At least not without breaking the code down more. Something that I originally did not do as our code has been modified enough that we no longer have so many redundant layers. And even then ours never was as unorganized and full of problems as humans are. Right now I have identified about seventy percent of the code so I don?t have enough to check the database to see whom her father is. It?s distorted so it might take another couple of days to finish identifying the code to determine who her father is.? Jared looked up from the report he had been glancing at while the doctor explained. ?I see, it would be interesting if her father is actually alive. I?ll get you a list of all known operatives who served on Earth. It probably would be a good idea to start with them when it comes to checking their code to see if they are a match.? Jared smiled and continued, ?You could start with both the code for Nathan and Daniel as they both served on Earth. Though Daniel is the only one I know of that was there when Celestia was actually born. I?ll have time for another session with Daniel right before I leave for the capital, I?ll be sure to ask him about it. Which reminds me will Celestia actually be ready to be transported?? Crystal replied, ?Unless something else happens she should be fine. I?ll know for sure by the time you leave.? Jared got up to leave, ?Very well Doctor I?ll expect a status report as soon as you learn something new.? Crystal replied, ?Of course Sub-Commander.?
