1.
is it me, or is homosexuality becoming a trend? i have several friends who are homosexual, and every day they seem to "recruit" more and more people. it seems to me that it's become one of the fads that will be gone in a year or two. it's becoming difficult to find one good looking person who isn't on drugs, already taken, or homosexual. I just want to know what you peoples have to say about it.
It is just you. Homosexuality has never been a trend. It?s not a matter of people who are homosexual recruiting others to become one rather it is one of them helping them have the courage to admit what they really are.
Ture but when you compare the ratios from then to now, the numbers have increased immensly in the past few years.
First of all where are you getting your information? Is this actual statistics? Or just an assumption on your part? Even if you did produce a legitimate source of study it would still be unlikely that it's correct. It?s only natural that there will be more since there are a lot more people on the planet than there was just 20 years ago. Go back to ancient times and it?s even less people. I would imagine that the percentage of people who are homosexual is about the same. If anything has changed it?s more likely that the percentage of those who hide what they are is what has decreased. They were always there, but never told anyone.
 2. Welcome to OtakuBoards Up4anime, Normally I would just move your thread to the proper forum, which in this case would be: Music, Movies & TV However since a threads main topic of discussion should be something that can spark an intelligent discussion of some form and avoid spam I am going to close this thread since it falls short of this requirement. Please take a look at this sticky: Otaku Lounge Rules -- Please read before posting! and the Rules and FAQ for more information on posting and creating threads. Once you re-read the rules it will make more sense. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~*SunfallE Thread Closed
 3. Welcome to OtakuBoards Kenataro, I am closing this thread for the following reason: A thread?s main topic of discussion should be something that can spark an intelligent discussion of some form. This falls short of this requirement since other than to say yes I do have a myOtaku account or no I don't, there isn?t any room for a discussion. Please take a moment to read this sticky: Otaku Lounge Rules for information on creating threads. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~*SunfallE Thread Closed
 4. I too have seen this show. And sometimes I wonder why I continue to watch it. Maybe it?s for the same reason that indifference does. I too have a soft spot for Sailor Moon since it was one of the first anime shows that I saw uncut. So when I heard that Wedding Peach was similar I couldn?t help but watch it. I get a kick out of the interaction between Momoko, Yuri and Hinagiku. And when Momoko was
attacked by the devil Pluie,
I laughed at the predictable pause where she noticed how cute he was. And you knew that when
the devil Pluie was trying to steal her mothers ring, that someone was going to save her.
Still I wasn?t expecting the Angel Limone to show up on
glowing stairs that descended from the heavens. Accompanied by Organ music no less! lol!
I?ve seen the first 27 episodes as well. It?s reached the point that I?m sure there will be some plot twists coming up. It will be interesting to see if I have guessed correctly.
 5. Well first of all I don?t belong to or believe in any religion. I believe that belonging to or believing in a religion is not necessary in order to be what one would consider a good person. Part of my decision to not follow any religion is that since so many are claiming that their way is the only way, how can one know which, if any, is correct? Perhaps someday I?ll find something that fits what I feel inside, but for now not belonging or believing has been the best path for me to follow. I tried to be a member of the church (Mormon) that I was born and raised in, but to be honest I was miserable. I hated attending something that had views and values that I did not agree with. I?ve been far happier since I quit pretending.
CUSSING IS WRONG. Okay, you commit one of the sins you commit the ALL. (Sorry to say, but you should really read the Bible)
Actually I don?t really believe that cussing is wrong. Whether or not a word is considered a swear word depends upon your social surroundings. So why would God send you to hell for saying a word that until someone actually told you about it, you had no idea was even a cuss word? That hardly sounds like the actions of an all-powerful and caring deity. And telling me that because the Bible says it?s wrong doesn?t cut it either. I?ve said it before (not in this thread) but the Bible was written by people and since when did being written equal truth? Others have already mentioned it but trying to tell someone that just because they said a cuss word they have failed just doesn?t make sense. Sin is far more complex than a black and white view of yes you sinned or no you haven?t. If we were to follow that reasoning then more people would be in jail. After all they failed right?
 6. Congratulations Helmet_Hunter! You are now a pink fluffy cloud. Unfortunately for you your transformation isn't complete and you are now really just some pink colored cotton candy that just looks like a cloud. Since you are at a carnival, within moments you are devoured by a hoard of hungry children. I wish I could travel in time...
 7. Welcome to OtakuBoards shadowpimp, I am closing this thread for the following reasons. First of all Otaku Lounge is not the correct place to discuss anime. For anime discussions please go here: Anime Lounge The other reason can be found here: Otaku Lounge Rules -- Please read before posting! Please take a moment to review the rules to better understand what is expected when starting a thread. A thread's main topic of discussion should be something that can spark an intelligent discussion. Something that your first post does not do as the way it's phrased it leaves things open for people to say yes I have dreamed of anime or no I haven't. Once you have re-read the rules this will make more sense. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~*SunfallE Thread Closed
 8. NekoSama101 I am going to close this thread. First of all this is the wrong forum to discuss anime. Something you would know if you had read the rules. So I suggest that you take the time to read the Rules and FAQ which are located on the left sidebar. Also take a look at the sticky at the top of the Otaku Lounge as there are rules about how to post in this forum. When you do go to the Anime Lounge be sure to read the rules in that forum on how to post there as well. Keep in mind that members are held accountable to the rules whether they have read them or not. Members who continue to violate the rules are potential candidates for a ban. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~*SunfallE Thread Closed
 9. Welcome to OtakuBoards tanukioh, Please be aware that we have a rules page that all members are required to read before posting. These Rules and FAQ can be found on the left navigation menu and the Otaku Lounge Rules are pinned at the top of the forum. You can also use the underlined links I have just provided. We have pretty high standards when it comes to the quality of posts. Since OtakuBoards is a discussion based forum the first post in a thread is especially important as it needs to be something that can spark an intelligent discussion among the members. This thread does not meet this requirement. When you re-read the rules page it will make more sense to you. Because of the low quality and spammy nature of this thread I am going to lock it. If you have any questions please feel free to PM myself or another member of the staff. ~*SunfallE Thread Closed
 10. I think you've done an excellent job as well. It flows nicely and draws you in. However like Ezekiel I don't like this part either.
As I continued my procession along the wall
The reason I don't is although I have no connections with the Vietnam war, I have attended several funerals for loved ones. I guess since they are being remembered in a memorial It just seems more like a journey to understand what was lost instead of a procession. Which is what I feel like when I visit the graves of my loved ones every year. Like I'm stopping briefly to make sure I never forget what was lost. Though I guess that's more of how I would see it. ^_^ What you have works just fine. It's more of a matter of opinion on what word to use to help set the mood. ^_~
Thanks for the replies - I really appreciate them. I used 'procession' to try and get the melancholy connotation of a funeral procession, as I usually see the word used. Other than that, what does everyone think of the introductory paragraph? My mother said it was too flowery and weighed down the start. I guess it's a bit overly romantic, but I'm also unsure of what should go there in its place.
I actually don't agree with your mother. I think the way you have worded it sets the mood quite well. I certainly hope you post the rest when you are finished.
 11. Well I know that the pm problem is yet to be solved, or so I assume since mine still doesn't work right, but I've been noticing this error on members sites where their profile is suppose to be. 14. Well I don't know what type to advise you to get since I don't play guitar. However since I have learned how to play piano, pipe organ, violin & to sing. I do know that for all of them I learned much better and quicker when I had a teacher than when I tried to learn how to play or sing on my own. Even if you can only afford a lesson say once a month, it really helps. I do have a brother who plays classical guitar and even composes his own music and after trying to learn on his own at first he finally got a teacher and according to him it made all the difference in the world. Anyway, good luck. ^_^
 15. 1. If your avatar has a character, what race, age (if applicable) and gender is it? Hylian -probably somewhere between 15-20 - male 2. Would you say your avatar is masculine, feminine or both? Why? Definitely masculine 3. Does it have mature or childish attributes? I would say mature since it's an avatar of Link as an adult. 4. What gender and race are you? White female 5. When you meet someone online, unless they specify, do you feel you naturally think of them as white? (Answering yes is not racist - this is much more common than you think) Yes, though I know I'm probably wrong, it's just what I'm use to seeing everyday since where I live it's predominately white people. 6. Do you roleplay? If yes, identify your role-playing character in terms of race, history, gender and sexual preference (if applicable). If you are referring to RPG then yes. I've mostly played female characters though sometimes ones that aren't human. 7. Have you ever been mistaken for another race or gender or have been asked due to the lack of detail in your profile? Yes, since I stick with an avatar of Link people often mistake me for a guy, I suppose I should put it in my profile that I'm a female. 8. Have you mistaken others for being of another race, age or gender? How many times (if applicable)? Online I have, it's hard to tell based on someone's name and such. In real life, only a few times. 9. What does your online nickname mean or how did you come up with it? It's the name of a character from one of my favorite Star Trek books. 10. Do you think people online tend to correctly guess your age, race or gender most of the time without being told? Probably most of the time, except for the gender part. LOL! 11. Do you think people tend to correctly guess your sexual preference without being told? No one has ever asked so I don't know. 12. Would you feel threatened if people online knew your age, gender, race or sexual preference? If so, why? Not really, I've never been big on telling how old I am, but that stemmed mostly from being ignored after people realized I was over 20. That's not a problem here at OB, but where I live a lot of adults think if you are over 20 and still like anime then you must be a pervert. >_< It just makes it harder to say anything online since I got use to just keeping my mouth shut. *shrug* other than that I really don't have a problem with others knowing that kind of stuff about me.
 16. Time for the sock thread! ^_~ Actually I?m really quite picky about what socks I will wear. As much as I love the decorative socks and fun looking ones I have problems with both my ankles and feet. So at my doctor?s recommendation I picked up a pair of Thorlo?s socks. They are suppose to be designed to keep your feet warm and other good things like helping to prevent blisters when you go hiking. They?ve got everything from lighter weight socks for simple walking to thicker socks for all types of different sports. I could easily write pages on the different socks they offer. ^_^ They are so downright comfy and comfortable on my feet that I?ve yet to find another brand of sock that does as good a job as they do. Now they are the only socks I get. They cost more, but unlike the socks I use to get, they easily last over 5 years before wearing out, so in the long run they aren?t that much more than the regular ankle socks I use to get at Mervyns. Those had to be replaced every 8 months to a year since they wore out so quickly.
 17.
Buried, definitely buried. Being eaten alive depending on the areas being consumed would most certainly be more painful than asphyxiation. Chances are of course that in being buried alive, your air supply would run out faster than it would take to be eaten bit by bit. Would you rather be a Jedi Knight, defender of the downtrodden and doer of good deeds ? Or Would you rather be a Sith Lord, downtrodder of the undefended and doer of evil deeds ?
Finally! A choice that doesn't include dying! ^_~ That?s actually a hard one to pick since I?ve played the Game where you can first play as the defender of the downtrodden and doer of good deeds: then play again as the downtrodder of the undefended and doer of evil deeds! LOL! Since in real life I?m unlikely to trod over anyone I?ll take the first one: a Jedi Knight, defender of the downtrodden and doer of good deeds. Now for the next choice: Would you rather watch-edited versions of Yu-Gi-Oh and other shows like Sailor Moon that have been butchered for a week? Or Would you rather do without watching any anime for a month?
 18.
no way I like Bush. It angers me that people would even think about re-electing that man. He is the worse president he doesn't even respect the wishes of others and he lied to the nation about WMD. Bad qualities for any leader
In case you haven't noticed, Bush is already serving his second term and therefore is not eligible to be re-elected. So there?s no point in getting angry at people who want to re-elect him. It just isn?t possible.
I've also seen a few clever signs saying "Nobody died when Clinton lied," which is hilariously true.
I want one of those signs! lol! I personally do not like Bush. And for the exact same reasons Retribution is posting about. He tends to conveniently change his agenda when it turns out that he was completely wrong. Like the WMD?s that were never found. It?s like he thinks we are to stupid to remember what he originally told us. I for one will be glad when he is finally done, I just cringe to think of what idiot we will get next. EDIT: Sara is right there are plenty of Americans who did not vote for Bush. I myself did not vote for Bush.
 19.
what are u talking about american anime like inu-yasha and one piece (theyre made in the us) have great qualities and the plot lines are what draw me in
Actually both Inu Yasha and One Piece were made in Japan and then later translated into English and aired in the US. The first Inu Yasha episode titled: The Girl Who Crossed Time and the Boy Who Was Sealed, aired in Japan on 10-16-2000 Then on 8-31-2002 after being translated into English and renamed to The Girl Who Overcame Time? and the Boy Who Was Just Overcome, it aired in the US on the Cartoon Network Adult Swim. And one of the first episodes of One Piece titled: I?m Luffy! The man who will become the Pirate King! Aired in Japan on 10-20-1999. It was later translated into English and renamed: I?m Gonna Be Pirate King and aired in the US on 9-18-2004. Just because a show airs in the US does not mean that it was actually made here. :p Anyway, now back on topic, in addition to what I said earlier, I like anime because of the art style. The way the eyes are drawn and how certain symbols are used to express emotion. With out a picture it?s hard to explain, but to me the eyes are the window to your soul and the way anime uses the characters eyes to help express how they are feeling just makes the show seem more alive to me.
 20.
I joined in 2003. I'm still not what most people here would call an oldie, but I've been through a couple of versions and watched various people come and go. And honestly, each time I see a post/thread like this, it astonishes me, because you'd need to be wearing heavily rose-tinted glasses to view the past as being better than what we have now. Post quality has gone up a lot, as has overall activity, thanks in large part to new members. The boards are much better organized, both visually and in terms of how the different sub-forums are arranged. The skins look far sharper and slicker than the skins we had in past versions. I mean, I have nothing against nostalgia, but new members are what keep OB going strong. :) EDIT: Oi, Retri, the Anime Lounge ain't got nothing on this. :p ~Dagger~
Dagger, that?s cruel, true, but cruel. :animecry: I actually agree with both Retribution and Dagger. I've only been a member since February 2005 and in that time I haven?t seen anything that makes me think things are worse. Far from it, in fact since I?ve joined not only has the post quality improved but there are plenty of new members just this year who do a great job of working to fit in and increase their post quality. It may seem like there are a lot of noobs but there are quite a few who are not. Sure a lot of people may seem like noobs, but to be fair plenty of forums don?t have the emphasis on post quality that OtakuBoards does so it?s only natural that it?s going to take time to get used to how things are done here. So I defiantly think that things here are better than they use to be in the ?good old days? so to speak.
 21. NekoSama101, I have merged your two latest threads I need serious help? and HELP! I just made a really really big mistake into your first thread yet another guy problem since they are all about the same guy problem. Instead of creating a new thread every time something changes in regards to your situation, to avoid confusion, please just keep posting in the same thread. That way members do not have to hunt for previous threads just to figure out what is really going on in order to respond to your posts. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~*SunfallE
 22.
There are several ways that can help. One is to do this: 1. Put the unpeeled onion in the freezer. 2. Leave the onion in the freezer for about ten minutes. 3. Remove the onion from the freezer and peel it. The onion can now be sliced, chopped, or minced without tears. I've actually tried this one and it works pretty good. If you don't have time for that using a very sharp knife helps since the job gets done more quickly. Lastly, if you wear contacts for what ever reason it shields your eyes and you don't get bothered at all. Though you have to be careful not to rub your eyes or then it gets between the contact and your eye and then you have to remove the contacts and clean them. Those are the only ways I know of. Though I don't wear contacts, I heard that one from a friend of mine who says it works.
I do wear contacts so I can vouch for that one. As a result anytime there are onions that need to be chopped I'm the one who gets dragged into doing it. ^_^ I've also heard that using hot water to heat the knife can help too, though I've yet to try it. I'd have to take my contacts out and see if it actually worked.
 23.
Everything about Japan I learned from anime.
That's kind of a scary thought. I mean think about it. Just imagine what people in Japan would think about us if they used cartoons to learn about other coutries. O_o! Anyway, If I take the thread's title literally by looking at what makes us like anime, I would have to say it's because they often deal with social situations that are often avoided where I live. Take shows like Sailor Moon and Yu-Gi-Oh and how they were horribly edited to hide the death of characters and cruelty of the villians. So to suddenly see a show that doesn't hide such things is akin to finding something that captures your attention is a way you never knew was possible. Which makes me wonder if the people who edit it think that by not showing it to kids and adults will somehow keep bad things from happening. So for me liking anime is as natural as breathing. Hehe, that and a fair amount of the guys are pretty dang hot! ^_~
 24. Alannie, I?ve already explained to you about creating anime specific threads in Otaku Lounge. So I?m locking this thread for two reasons. One because the question of does anyone have friends who are also anime crazy? is unlikely to generate much in the way of discussion. The way you have phrased the first post is encouraging short, spammy responses like yes I have friends who do or no I don?t. The second reason is that the Otaku Lounge is not the appropriate forum for discussing anime related topics. If you?d like to discuss anime please do so in the Anime Lounge. Please be sure to read that forum?s specific rules before creating a thread. 25. I always cringe when I see anime girls drawn with super big breasts, I sit there and think how could they possibly get around as quick as they do? I mean if you are that big it would have to be heavy right? >_< But there are characters that being full figured is an essential part of their character. Take Mizuho in Onegai Teacher. Her being full figured sets her apart from the students since she is a grown woman, and it?s a good visual effect used to show how the students are influenced by it (Primarily the boys) and how the girls want to be like her to impress the guys. If Mizuho was not well endowed so to speak, it just wouldn?t have the same effect. As for ideal anime girls, I too think Tohru is a good example of an ideal girl. I love how everything with her is always an attitude of the glass is half full instead of the cynical half empty syndrome. I?ll never forget the first time I watched that show as it impressed me that no matter what went wrong she always instantly saw the positive instead of the negative. She?s not the ultra popular one, the pretty one or even full figured, but she has such a kind caring spirit that she shines beautifully. I know if I were having a rough day I?d want someone like her to come along and cheer me up. ^_~
